My Review:

I love the sparks between Troy and Lizzie! If you read the first book in the Bellehaven Hotties series, you met these characters. They weren't the stars of the show, but they were star-adjacent, so we got to learn a lot about them. With the way they butted heads, I fully expected their story to be full of fire, and Chasity Bowlin and Laramie Briscoe deliver. Troy and Lizzie have some history, and their romance touches on the forbidden, but darned if they aren't good together.

Like the first in the series, Locked Up One Night is a quick read, and this one has even less angst, so it's definitely an easy read. The chemistry is so good between this pair. Right from the start, I was rooting for them. I also liked getting to visit the couple from the first book, as well as so many of the secondary characters. So, it's like another trip to Bellehaven!

So, another quick, entertaining read in the series, and this pair definitely generates some steam. This book picks up right where the first left off, so I'd recommend reading the series in order to get the most out of it.

It Takes a Rake by Anna Bennett

It takes a Rake by Anna Bennett was a fun historical romance. It is the third book in the Rogue to Lovers Series. The novel takes place in Bellehaven and really focuses on Kitty and Leo.

Kitty Beckett was a heiress. As a child, she was constantly pushing her boundaries with her friends. She has been apprenticed to an architect (Leo’s grandfather) and can see life and beauty in so much. Once she is old enough she can take her money and move to London to design buildings.

Leo was apprenticed with his grandfather to become an architect and then he left for London to make his fortune. However, he has returned and he wants to reconnect with Kitty, who is less than pleased.

Bellhaven has started a competition to make a new building for the town. Kitty wants to win the competition to help start her future. Leo ends up helping her, making her designs somewhat more practical. She ends up helping him to not drown. Slowly they began to draw closer to each other, but is it enough?

I enjoyed reading It Takes A Rake by Anna Bennett. The characters were interesting and the story line kept my attention. I am looking forward to reading more novels in this series.

Oh My! I LOVED this book!! Blossom is the third book in Helen Hardt’s Black Rose trilogy. It is a BDSM romance, that is steamy, angsty, and has a great plot that is both in-depth and suspenseful.

This is Ronan O’Connor and Mary aka Blossom Sandusky’s romance.

After a BDSM scene goes wrong. Mary takes a break and wonders if she can return to her past lifestyle. But at the urging of her best friend Brenda she finally returns to the Black Rose for just a drink. And as luck would have it she see a new member of the club, Ronan, a gorgeous, shirtless Dom, who is wearing a kilt…oh my…so hot! These two are immediately attracted to each other, but Mary is still very wary, while Ronan is willing to take things slowly in order to get to know her.

“I am looking for a playmate, Blossom. And it will be you. Maybe not tonight, but eventually.”

Ronan, takes his time developing their relationship and wooing Mary and it is such a wonderful journey. I fell hard for Ronan and couldn’t stop smiling as I read this book. But will Mary be able to trust again? You will need to read to get all the details. I highly recommend this thrilling book. This is my favorite of the series!

On Flashback Fridays I will share with you the books I was not able to review when they were first released that have been screaming at me from my To-Be-Read bookshelf. I discovered the Miss Zukas series several years ago when looking for a “Z” book for my Alphabet Soup Reading Challenge. This book was originally released on December 1, 1996, which means it also works for an entry on my Craving for Cozies Library Card Mini-Challenge as it was released before 2000. I found a print copy on PaperbackSwap. On November 18, 2009, it was rereleased for Kindle by June Creek Books. It was a pure coincidence that I read this book with a Barbie element the same week the Barbie movie was released.

A most unusual death has landed Helma Zukas right in the middle of another murder scene. Stanley Plummer had been cataloging a collection of Native American books for Bellehaven's new Cultural Center when his body was found in the center's ladies' room - stabbed through the heart and clutching a Barbie doll. Miss Zukas is coerced by her conniving boss, library director May Apple Moon, into finishing the dead man's job at the mysterious center. And, in a letter dated the day he died - it appears the victim himself is asking her to get to the bottom of his murder. Dollycas's Thoughts Librarian Helma Zukas is assigned to finish cataloging a collection of Native American books for the new Cultural Center after the original "librarian" is found dead in the ladies bathroom with a paper spike in his chest and a Barbie doll in his hands. Helma is not happy but agrees to complete the job as quickly as possible. Being at the center does put her right at the scene of the crime and her keen sense of observation works overtime especially after she finds a letter from the victim to her about a raven. Miss Zukas is a bit of an odd duck. She is not an old woman but she sure does act like one.  She expects things to be done the right way, her way, which is always right. We are starting to see that she has a heart when she reaches out to help her neighbor and that she has sort of, rescued a cat. Her boss, May Apple Moon, is a little out there in her life and how she runs the library. Helma's friend Ruth tests her patience but truly is her best friend. Helma has an interesting relationship with the police chief. The romantic tension is there but it is on a really slow burn. Frankly, everyone, Helma comes in contact with including all the people at the cultural center are pretty darn quirky. The author has created a really unique cast of characters that are becoming more fleshed out. I think the author has a dry wit and it shows in these stories and catches the reader by surprise when the words come out of the character's mouths. The Washington weather was almost a character itself. Deary rainy day after dreary rainy day made me feel sorry for everyone that lived in the region. It did give the story some nice twists but I was hoping and praying that the sun would come out soon. I do enjoy the way Helma investigates. She ponders, does a little research, considers different options, ponders some more, asks some questions, and then has an aha moment when she finds the clue that makes every other clue fall into place. Being written in 1996, computer technology is sparse and there are no cell phones so when Helga found herself in a bit of a pickle a time or two I had to force myself to remember this. I did enjoy the Native American history and the people Helma meets as she tries to find answers. A little boy with an interesting talent stole my heart. Miss Zukas and the Raven's Dance was an intriguing mystery with characters that really drove the story. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.
