It was a pleasure to participate to the HallowRen 3 : Season of the IT !

My prompt was Graveyard/Cemetary so I decided on miniseries Losers having a nice walk at night !

and like. a less often voiced but very important (imo) criticism of the new it movies is the manic pixie dream girl-ification of berverly marsh. it’s a common issue with book to movie adaptions - the romance (especially between kids. especially when it’s subtle in the book incarnation) is exacerbated. but not to be all “well in the BOOOK” but well in the BOOK - yes beverly is sexualized. yes king is imperfect. the child porn sewer orgy scene, we’ve all seen it. but the majority of the book is about the losers club friendships & beverly is every bit as much a messy member of the gang as everyone else. the movies tell a different story. she is such a consistent love interest above acting as the individual member of the friend group she is & it makes me sad

Veterinarian Eddie

[Im not north american, so i don't know much about north american educational system, so this Headcanon may have some mistakes.]

[It started in the 90's]

He decided to become a veterinarian cause:

1) he loved animals.

2) his mother never let him have a pet when he was a kid.

3) he's a rebel at heart.

So what's better to choose a degree where he would have to deal with everything his mother would never let him do AND spend time with cute animals?

Yes, it was a impulsive decision.

He don't regret.

It wasn't easy to begin with, though.

He knew his mother wouldn't help him,

But the losers would.

He spent all his time studying to get a scholarship and get out of Derry.

The losers helped him with that and moral support.

When he received the admission letter he couldn't be more happy.

They all celebrated it in a small fire, not far from Mike's home.

They all ended up crying a lot too, since they're would all be taking different paths.

Eddie was going to New York, Richie was going to work as a junior assistant in a radio station in LA, Beverly was going to become a designer in Miami, Ben was going to study architecture in Chicago, Mike was going to try figure things out in Florida, Bill was going to study literature in California and Stan was moving with his family to Washington.

They just had a few more months together, but they made the best of it.

Richie insisted on driving Eddie to NY.

"Richie, you really don't have to, it's a 8 hours travel plus gas money!" "Shut up, Spaghetti! I want to..."

They left before sunrise, only a note left to Sonia.

The travel went surprisingly calm, they talked, sang along with the radio.

It was already sunset when they arrived at the university's dorms.

Richie keep saying he was "too cool" to goodbyes, so he just left Eddie with a pat on the back.

Eddie shared a room with a boy called Max, who had a dog called Max Junior, and their room walls was filled with Max Junior pictures.

Eddie was a student with average grades, but all the teachers liked him.

He wasn't that good in his exams, but he was surprisingly good dealing with animals.

He was good at calming the scared ones, and had a good intuition in emergencies.

College wasn't easy, Eddie was constantly tired having to study and work, but he made it.

He started working on a veterinarian clinic as an assistant, doing the basics things, and now he works at the emergencies.

One night he attended an emergency, a little puppy called Peanut, owner called Abby. Poor baby was puking.

When he called the name a little and very worried red haired girl appeared almost instantly in front of him. Her big bright brown eyes red from crying. A very small and quiet puppy on her arms.

He kneeled in front of her, "Are you Abby?" She nods. "So this must be Peanut, right?" She nods again. "Don't worry, she's going to be okay, we're going to take care of her, don't we?" She nods furiously.

He gets up to look at what seemed to be the girls parent's who had approached, just to feel shocked.

He didn't expect to see his old friends after so many years, but man, he couldn't be more happy.

Ben and Beverly were equally shocked/happy.

They would have being like this forever if it wasn't for Abby's worried eyes staring at them.

They silently agreed that Peanut was the priority in that moment.

She was two months old, a very wanted surprise for Abby's 7 birthday. (Ben thought it was a good way for his daughter to learn about responsibility, Beverly just wanted to see her little girl happy.)

In the end she had just eaten a lot of paper. She was going to be alright.

It was really late at night, Abby needed to sleep and Eddie had others emergencies to take care of, so the three losers exchanged phone numbers and significant hugs.

They spent the whole next day talking. Ben and Bev had bumped into each other one time during a travel, they realized that they didn't wanted to be apart at all. They had moved to NY, married, and two years later Abby came, they're happy since then.

One month later, another surprise.

Eddie couldn't believed it when he readed the list of patients he had for that day.

A pomeranian puppy named Spaghetti was going to have a complete check up. Owner named Richie.

Eddie didn't believed it till he saw with his two eyes.

In front of him was a very nervous looking Richie Tozier with a very agitated yellow pomeranian puppy in his arms.

Eddie couldn't hold it while doing the basic check up on Spaghetti before sending him to do more exams.

"So... we're a little far from LA. What? They don't have veterinarians there?" "Well... the neighbors dog had some puppies, this one tried to destroy my shoes the moment he saw me and i knew he was going to be the one, i wasn't going to trust the love of my life to anyone!"

It happened that Bev had still kept in touch with Richie, after all, she was the one who had being at his side when he cried himself to sleep after came back to Derry after left Eddie in NY. (Not that Eddie was much better, he accidentally had woke up his roommate with his loud sobs, received a close up photograph of Max Junior's face as a "feel better" gift which he still have. )

Richie had just adopted Spaghetti when Bev called him. He was feeling lonely and Ben thought it was a good way for Richie to learn about responsibility. Spaghetti was very agitated hated Richie's shoes and barked a lot, he also was very needy and loved to be held, he remembered Richie of a certain someone.

Richie had no plan in mind when he took a plane to NY to spend a few days at Bev and Ben's home. He just wanted to see Eddie again.

Now that they're waiting for the results of Spaghetti's exams, he don't know what to do and neither do Eddie.

What you say to the man you've been secretly in love all your life who you just encountered after more than a decade without have any contact?

"So... how long are you staying in NY?" "Oh, just a few days, Ben and Bev treat me like family, but i know they have their own little girl to take care of, don't want to overstay..." "You could stay at my place." Eddie answered way to fast. "I mean, just if you want to, of course. I live alone so it wouldn't be a problem..."

And Richie stayed.

And they got their shit together.

And now, every month they have a dinner with Ben, Bev, Abby and Peanut.

And every year all the seven losers go out on a vacation (after a year trying to contact all of them).

And every day Eddie comes home to find the love of his life... and Richie, of course.

Correct me if I’m wrong but In book cannon Richie is a ginger (like in the original mini series) and his hair slightly darker than Beverly’s and that missed opportunity is NOT talked about enough 😤
