The best thing about Italy and Europe is that linen just- exists here. I can go buy a shitty cheap 100% linen dress like I would go to Fry's and buy a shitty cheap 100% polyester dress in America. Absolutely revolutionary for my wardrobe. I can't actually buy wardrobe enhancements because I have a carry-on suitcase, but the fact I still have the option is amazing.
#I can't wear polyester because something about my sweat clings to the fibers. I can only wear >60% natural fibers. I've slowly been#weaning all poly out of my wardrobe. The restriction helps a lot preventing impulse buys; but here my impulse buy is only restricted by $$#i am absolutely not crying over the $350 linen women's suit jacket I saw :( UGH it was GORGEOUS and GREEN. I want a linen suit so bad#but honestly it's the kind of thing I should just spend a thousand on and get bespoke I think. It'd look better and feel classier#if you're spending that much money on a thick linen knit in the first place.#Okay tag essay: but can we talk about linen knit fabrics? I've seen so many beautiful linen weaves this weekend I'm losing my mind.#I think there was a kind of Tricot or Bird's Eye knit linen simple-curve dress that blew me away. The amount of work you can do with#two colors and a fashionable knit is insane. Then you wear a jacket over it and the linen is still light enough to wick away sweat but#heavy enough to look fashionable and stay flat. There's really this talented balance of texture that shines in linen. I love linen so much#Anyway! I should've made another post for this but none of these ramblings are important lol#I'm really tired after Anacapri. and dinner. Dinner was kind of dumb. There was confusion about what I wanted. We just wanted#appetizers to share but they gave me a whole plate of octopus. Which I feel bad about eating and don't like the texture after 10 bites.#So I had to give it to dad. Long story short I didn't want to eat anything at all; I wanted to WRITE. But I didn't write. I ate.#I'm already like 10 pounds heavier than when I left lmfao. It's starting to pack on my hips. Damn you Italy!#ptxt

Meghans 90000 tour wardrobe plus a present from the VP! by u/Mickleborough
Meghan’s £90,000 tour wardrobe plus a present from the VP! The Daily Mail archived / unarchived has put out its usual article noting the components, and tallying up the cost, of Meghan’s wardrobe.Estimated figure is £90,000 / $117,000 / €105,500, mostly inflated by overpriced jewellery. It’s not a terribly interesting piece - it’s not as if she’s wearing bespoke Dior or vintage Chanel.Of some note are the following:About 50% of her wardrobe is Colombian designers. That’s more local content than she’s ever worn on a tour, fake or otherwise. On some tours, the figure’s been 0.Did Meghan finally get diplomatic dressing? Or did someone reach out to local designers, uttering magic phrases such as ‘invited by the VP’; ‘high profile’; and ‘Harper’s Bazaar’? No Heidi Merrick rubbish for her!On her talk to discuss women’s empowerment (the one where she gave a memorised ex tempore speech in Spanish before fleeing the stage to answer a question, also in Spanish), she wore something mildly intriguing:I don’t mean the white sleeveless top, with buttons straining across a bosom supported by a black brassière:https://ift.tt/ETMQBpb she wore a day or so before, with a linen and wool blend, lined Loro Piana jacket: see below. I gather Meghan’s been sweating - if so, I can’t imagine moist pits with a lined jacket.)https://ift.tt/AgtyOVC was her earrings:https://ift.tt/hKbDR9x Daily Mail described them as:Pure gold, 24k, 22k, 18k, 14k, 10k? Or is it just plate? Now that Meghan’s no longer a working royal, she can keep them, to add to her collection of jewellery of questionable origin. We don’t know that Francia Márquez has ordered anyone to be killed, but she doesn’t seem to have her people’s interests to heart.EDIT: Forgot to add that I went to the site of their ‘official’ reporter, Harper’s Bazaar, to try to find out more about the earrings. Harper’s is calling her ‘Duchess Meghan’. Stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen, Harper’s! post link: https://ift.tt/INSnkwo author: Mickleborough submitted: August 19, 2024 at 11:52PM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit disclaimer: all views + opinions expressed by the author of this post, as well as any comments and reblogs, are solely the author's own; they do not necessarily reflect the views of the administrator of this Tumblr blog. June 18, 2023
June 18, 2023: Tae and Jungkook both are captured on film wearing the same shirt. It’s an ERL- White 'Kappa Sweetheart' T-Shirt. Tae wears the shirt during his personal time, when he attends Bruno Mars’ concert on June 18, 2023 with Wooga (it’s interesting he wore it on a day when he’d be publicly spotted wearing it, which indicates a statement and wanting to be linked to Jungkook wearing it). Jk wears the shirt while filming his “Seven” MV in Los Angeles, when he was shooting his train scene.
Tumblr media
Remember, Jungkook had said if he wasn’t filming, he would’ve attended the concert.
Tumblr media
It’s a genderless shirt, and it’s good to also remember that Jk’s lines in “Seven” are gender neutral. It’s also telling that Jk said, “The lyrics of Seven mean you want to be with the person you love all the time. Like the title of the song, from Monday to Sunday. The willingness to be with the love of my life every day is shown in this passionate serenade.” No, Jk didn’t write this song, but it’s still quite telling he explained the song by saying “love of MY life” - indicating there is a lover in his life - and once again he kept it gender neutral when he described the summer pop song. All of this is quite notable. And on a personal note, I find it so sweet that they find ways to stay connected, even when one of them is in another country.

Jk in the “Seven” MV + HD photo from the Seven MV photo sketch -
Tumblr media
In the short film for “Seven”, we can better see the (matching) shirt. I love that Jk is filmed wearing it next to a “wish you were here?” poster while the lyrics “You know night after night, I'll be lovin' you for seven days…” plays. What’s also noteworthy is the jacket he’s wearing is Celine ( Tae is a BA for Celine ).
Tumblr media

The Celine jacket and gender neutral shirt -
Tumblr media
The shirt is now sold out but it can be bought (if restocked) here - https://www.ssense.com/en-us/women/product/erl/white-kappa-sweetheart-t-shirt/13087701?gbraid=0AAAAAD9ouUvO1YKNZfX6jcpw33IJNjfXi&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxafd8caNgAMVay7UAR2KTA8PEAQYAiABEgLQnPD_BwE ; Credit to @peachesminty9 for finding the information
Jk also wore Celine necklaces in the MV. I especially love that he wore the padlock Celine necklace with the Kappa sweetheart shirt he and Tae both own🥰As a couple people brilliantly said, and I agree (this is my opinion) it’s like he’s saying “the keeper of my heart/safely locked you in my heart.” It’s quite loud IMO.
Tumblr media
This is speculative, but I still want to point out what others have noted. It seems like Tae was potentially hinting at Jk’s MV when he posted - as part of a series of photos he shared on his IG - the Molang Halloween candy keychain he was wearing after the Dream premier. It could be considered as a hint about the “Seven” MV because Jk (who’s emoji in the fandom is a bunny) pops out of a coffin in the MV, and the opening lyrics mention kissing a lover’s waist (in the photograph, the keychain dangles from Tae’s waist). I, personally, find this interesting, but please decide as you like.
Tumblr media
Also something fun to note (and not necessarily Taekook related) is Jk’s funeral suit was created by Tailorable, a company that makes good quality, bespoke clothes.
Tumblr media
Tailorable has a past with the group. This isn’t a comprehensive breakdown of all the times they’ve worn the brand, but this is a small summary. BTS wore Bespoke suits by Tailorable for their Butter performance at the AMAS 2021. They also wore their clothes for their cover on Time Magazine, and for their May 2022 visit to the White House.
Tumblr media
While the group, and other members individually, have utilized Tailorable for official projects, what I want to point out is Tae is a frequent commissioner for Tailorable’s custom outfits, as seen in these photos below. This link may not mean anything as far as Taekook goes since BTS have utilized Tailorable in group, and individual, official activities, but I found it interesting enough to highlight that Tae clearly is a big fan and wears their clothes for other, varied occasions (his personal time in Vegas, with Wooga, for his Veautiful Days folio which was BTS’ personalized concepts, etc). You can decide relevancy, if any. I can understand why some see a link between Taekook because 1) the Kappa Sweetheart shirt and Celine jacket have clear, definite links and 2) Tae is personally a big fan of the brand (so it can be insinuated he suggested them for Jk’s MV), but to be honest, I’m not really sure if the Tailorable suit is relevant. It could be stylist choice, coincidence, personal preference or suggested to Jk. What I find important is the shirt and jacket. Still, I still wanted to preserve the information (for some reason my gut is telling me to), disclaim it and you can decide.

Fox cloth cuts like rich butter with tailors' shears and the dense, rich finish makes a superlative flannel suit.
- Simon Cundey, Henry Poole & Co
Legend has it, that when Sir Winston Churchill made his most memorable speeches in Parliament or on the BBC Radio he was clad in a suit cut from the finest West of England flannel, woven by his woollen mill of choice, the iconic Fox Brothers & Co.
Much like Churchill, Fox Brothers is a British institution of near national significance; at one time one of the largest and most prestigious woollen mills in the country, an employer to five thousand tradesmen, occupying a monumental site of several square miles, filled with the imposing red-brick towers and belching chimneys synonymous with good old Victorian industrialism in Wellington, Somerset.
Fox Brothers have been producing woollen and worsted fabric in Somerset since 1772, ie for the past two hundred and fifty years. Officially credited as the original creators of flannel, to this day we combine traditional manufacturing processes with state of the art design technology, to create the finest wool and cashmere cloth available in the world.
The mill's scale of production at its peak was quite frankly biblical; in 1914, with the outbreak of the First World War, the mill received the single largest textile order of the conflict, for 825 miles worth of khaki - a fabric which Fox Brothers can lay claim to having invented in 1901.
Sadly, such days are long behind many British manufacturers but fortunately today, Fox Brothers is experiencing a heart-warming renaissance and has returned to form as one of the finest producers of worsteds and woollen flannels in the United Kingdom.
In 2009, upon hearing that Fox was in dire straits, Douglas Cordeaux and his business partner Deborah Meaden, didn't think twice about running to the rescue and taking over Fox Brothers. Cordeaux was a menswear designer with a long history in luxury menswear and a passion for British heritage brands.
Thirteen years later, their brave decision and extraordinary vision has revitalised the mill and business now growing at a rate of knots - supplying cut lengths to the finest bespoke tailors and clothiers far and wide, and also weaving commercial orders for a huge number of international luxury brands; from Hackett to Aquascutum, Louis Vuitton and just about every single house on Savile Row.
Generations of men - and increasingly women - are grateful that Fox Bros have been the mainstay of their bespoke Savile Row suit or jacket. One of my woollen jackets from Huntsman carried the Fox Bros unshowy and understated label inside.

I really swore I posted about this already, but I can't find any trace of it, so here we go --
Back in December, as part of their giftmas presents, I took Doom Them to a tailor who does made-to-measure bespoke suits. We were tentative the first time we went into the shop, unsure how the staff would act about our queerness and transness.
Turned out we had nothing to fear, the woman we worked with was INCREDIBLE. The process was so much fun and she was extremely respectful of Doom Them's identity and really worked with them to create the perfect suit.
Doom Them not only picked all the fabrics, including linings and shirt fabrics, but they also picked every clasp, button, pocket layout, pleat, down to the most specific details. Every single part of this suit was hand picked by them and that only adds to how confident they are in it.
Doom Them has wanted a suit for AGES, the issue was 'women's' off the rack suits didn't fit their body in a way that felt good, and 'men's' off the rack fit their chest but were way too baggy in other places. By having a suit custom made, they got to have a more masculine cut that actually fit all the curves of their body in a gender affirming way!
All in all, they chose a three piece suit (jacket, waistcoat, slacks) and we also had two shirts made for them (one short sleeve, one long sleeve). I have to say, I have never been more attracted to them and even from the first fitting, I could see the confidence and gender euphoria they exuded in the suit.
Presenting the most magnificent suit ever:

The rose print lining is on the inside of the jacket and waistcoat as well as the back of the waistcoat!

Victorian fashion:
This link above shows a video of how Victorian fashion was always changing and how different times are similar with restrictive fashion such as the corset to bonnets.
youtube
The Victorian era was renowned for its voluminous skirts, stiff corsets, and bonnets. Women wore multiple layers of gowns, blouses, skirts, and jackets throughout this historical period, and it was forbidden to reveal more than an ankle. The women wore corsets under these garments, which constrained their movement during the day. Wearing a skirt that is wider than other skirts has become a common sign of prosperity. The more creativity and care that went into manufacturing these garments, the more expensive they were, and they were acquired by the upper-class society. Because the middle classes rarely wore these high-end gowns, they would sew their own new clothing. The impoverished relied on second-hand clothes donated by the rich. Hats and bonnets were a fashionable accessory at this period, and ladies would keep their hair curled in a bun or top knot while the bonnet or hat was fashioned to accommodate the hairdo. Having hats embellished with birds or feathers was considered a trendy statement. As the Victorian era progressed, skirts got more voluminous in the back, while corsets became less popular. These gowns were viewed as a major statement of riches and an important element of fashion during this historical period. The Victorian era was a bustling time for fashion, with changes not just in tastes and trends, but also in fashion technology and ways of dissemination. The era was characterised by economic expansion in England, as well as the ability to mass produce clothing due to lower unit prices of sewing machines and industrialization of other aspects of the garment manufacturing business. With the expansion of the rail network, distribution methods grew by leaps and bounds. The era also saw the availability of low-cost synthetic dyes, which allowed for a wider range of brilliant colours. Clothing might be produced more quickly and cheaply in order to react to rapidly changing styles. Because of advances in printing and womens fashion magazines, the people could see images of the current trends worn by the great and good, hence opening up the market for mass consumption and advertising. By the early twentieth century, most clothing was created in factories and sold in enormous, fixed-price department shops rather than by hand by bespoke tailors and seamstresses.

The Art of (Smashing) Crockery Chapter 1 - An Animated Description of Mr. Maps
Summary: 17 times Stede Bonnet shows up to Ed's Rage Room, the one time he doesn't, and the aftermath
Prompt: "modern au where Ed is the owner of the rage room and one day Stede comes in after a very stressful day at work, pays 40 minutes for the room, breaks things for 20 minutes and then cries for another 20 minutes" @EDWARDSSTEACH on Twitter
Click here for CWs/Full Chapter List
Outgoing Email To: All BG&E Employees
An issue has come to our attention that some employees are not following the proper chain of command with regards to communication with our Corporation Officers. Please remember that this chain exists for a reason, and to not bother our board, including CEO Edward Bonnet, with questions that are beneath them to answer, regardless of any relationship outside of the company you might feel you have with them. Instead, all queries should go through my personal secretary so they can be prioritized and addressed in the right manner.
Nigel Badminton, VP of Corporate Affairs
---
The first time it happens, Ed doesn’t say anything. It’s a normal day. Boring. Maybe he has a hangover, maybe it’s time to stop getting black-out drunk the night before work. But it’s been a while since he’s gotten into trouble for it. He doesn’t have as much to be angry about these days, not anymore. Depressed? Possibly. Feeling like he’s wasted his life? Oh, absolutely, that’s just a fact. He’s 45 years old and working in a dingy, dusty strip mall, living vicariously (at the moment) through a man in a $3000 bespoke suit taking a sledgehammer to a microwave.
Well, the man is trying to, at least. He certainly has the upper body mass for it, with broad shoulders and clear upper body strength. And he did remove the coat jacket, wouldn’t want to sully that. He left the jacket in Ed’s care as if it weren’t the most expensive item of clothing Ed had ever touched. Guys like that don’t tend to really see people like Ed, though. They just hand off whatever they please to the help and expect it to be waiting for them later. And it’s just part of Ed’s job here to do that kind of thing. He isn’t a servant, he’s providing a service, a fact which he has to remind himself of as he figures out the best way to fold the jacket into a cheap plastic temporary storage bin without wrinkling it.
Ed gives up the effort and turns back to the security panel to keep watch on the room’s interior. The problem is, this guy just doesn’t have the will to really do it. The man in the room swings the sledgehammer, but when it gets close to the microwave it loses momentum, knocking against the appliance weakly. The man in the video puts the hammer-end of the sledge on the ground, leaning with both of his hands on the top of the handle.
This guy has no idea how to cut loose, Ed thinks to himself, smiling. Those types aren’t used to it. And yet, somehow, 20 minutes previous he had entered this crappy establishment on the ass-end of a disgusting strip mall in an area he had no business being in, and asked for 40 minutes in the room. And Ed did his job and got him set up. Didn’t ask questions, it isn’t his job to ask questions. All sorts of people come through here to spend time destroying everything they can. Bachelor parties, women having a post-divorce bash with their friends, college students who are too straight-edge to do real damage but still want to feel badass, incels who pretend that every broken plate and smashed mirror bears the face of the women they perceive to have wronged them.
And it isn’t healthy, Ed knows this. He’s learned the difference between healthy and unhealthy outlets for anger. But business is business, and this is his. The big neon sign outside reads Blackbeard’s Breakery: Adding Injury to Insult (all letters properly lit up again as of last week, because Ed has his shit mostly together, mostly). It’s a stupid name, because Ed was an idiot when he named it, but he figures it’s good to have a daily reminder to be less of one going forward.
Anyway, it’s been 10 minutes since the clock has started, and the man in the room sets the sledgehammer daintily against the wall and tentatively grabs the baseball bat. He places a drinking glass on a small waist-high platform. He takes a step back, preparing himself, hips wiggling a bit like he’s preparing for a home run. His form isn’t perfect, but Ed thinks that maybe at some point he had some pointers in baseball, as a kid or something, because it’s a decent swing that ends roughly where it should. Only the man is still holding back, so when the bat hits the upper edge of the glass it just sort of knocks the glass off the table and onto the floor. The glass shatters upon hitting the ground and the man stops, as if in total shock that this happened, and puts his hands over his mouth like he didn’t mean to do it. Like he’s afraid his mom is going to come in and find her favorite vase in pieces. And then he’s running his fingers through his blond curls with either shame or anxiety.
Part of Ed just feels so bad for this guy. He wants to pipe his voice into the room and say, listen mate, this isn’t for everyone, don’t try to be someone you’re not, just get therapy but that is not his job and isn’t good for business. Everyone passing through here needs therapy. Hell, Ed’s cat probably needs therapy.
Rich boy (he’s not a boy, he’s gotta be at least Ed’s age, but he carries himself like an insecure teenager) adds more glassware and crockery to the pile and takes a few more experimental swings. He seems to be gaining a bit more confidence, so Ed smiles and goes to pump some encouraging music into the room, something with a rhythm that can help the man focus. He picks This Corrosion by Sisters of Mercy (he read about it on a music blog he follows), and while the opening of the choir normally elicits confused looks from those in the rage room, it causes this guy to stop dead in his tracks, look up towards the crappy wall speaker, and smile. And Ed thinks that it’s a great smile, the first time this man has seemed anything less than completely miserable. Rich Boy immediately grabs whatever he can (the remnants of the microwave, a cheap 25-inch computer monitor, a pile of empty beer bottles) and gets to it.
It’s times like this that give Ed the smallest hint of job satisfaction. Sure, it’s great to stick it to the man or whatever and destroy consumer goods, to take a stand against the mass production of… well, Ed doesn’t remember the tirade he heard from the last group of wannabe warriors who came through (and Ed didn’t have the heart to tell them that it all ends up in a giant ocean trash-pile anyway, broken or not). But what he really likes is when people seem happy doing this. Legitimately happy, not drunk or high or a mess of artificially-raised testosterone. Just a sober man who maybe is finally having a good moment in his day. Ed doesn’t get many of those here. And this is how he lives his life vicariously through the rich man in the battered room.
Boarding School Billy (Ed bets his name could also be something like Tom, or Steve, and he could look at the information the man left but that would be weird, right?) spends the next 10 minutes absolutely wrecking the place, to the best of his ability. Ed watches the pit stains growing under the arms of his expensive shirt, the cathartic way Billy/Tom/Steve finishes a swing with the bat and then wipes sweat from his brow. Ed knows it’s unprofessional to stare, but nobody else is here, nobody else knows, and nobody else cares. Ed will never see this guy again, this businessman who is just passing through, so there’s no harm in adding this view to his mental spank bank for later.
It’s hard to focus over the sounds of the screaming coming down the hallway, though. Coming from the only occupied room in the joint. Billy/Tom/Steve is raging against the machine, raging against something at least, and Ed can’t make it out, but boy is this guy pissed. Ed had better listen in, just to be safe, you know? Doesn’t want this guy to hurt himself, can probably afford expensive lawyers to shut the business down. Ed puts on the headphones he can use to listen in to the rooms and strains to hear over the music.
“You’re my father! You’re my fucking father! And you’re going to use him of all people as a barrier to ignore me and… fuck you! Fuck!” After that it’s a string of expletives and sounds of breaking ceramic. Ed rips the headphones off and decides to give the man some peace. Ed already has enough daddy issues, no need to carry this guy’s as well.
Whatever the daddy issues are, they aren’t enough to grant this guy 40 minutes worth of destructive stamina. His swings get weaker, he pants harder, he rests his hands on his legs for a minute and breathes, only to stand up and try again, a marginal attempt at gusto, but it isn’t long before his arms seem to give up. He puts his hands over his face (and under his safety goggles), shaking, and Ed realizes that he’s crying. Not an unheard of reaction, nothing to be embarrassed by, really. Except the man has 20 minutes left on the clock, and instead of raging he’s sinking to the floor, weeping.
Ed generally doesn’t intervene when this happens. People in the room can be out of control, they can be a flood of emotions and adrenaline, and anything could be going on in their lives. Ed isn’t a therapist or a counselor. So he just stands there awkwardly, wishing he had another customer to watch instead, wishing he could look away. But it would be rude to look away, wouldn’t it? Maybe Ed can be there in solidarity for his fellow man.
This lasts all of five minutes before he’s putting on the headphones and flipping the switch to speak into the room. Except he doesn’t really know what to say.
“Hey man… you good?” Smooth, so cool. The man in the room looks up like he’s heard the voice of God himself.
“Um…” and he raises a hand and gives a thumbs up to the universe.
“All right, sounds good, you still got 15 minutes.”
Billy/Tom/Steve nods and moves himself against the wall, still crying, absentmindedly spinning his gold wedding band back and forth.
Ed could take him out early and refund the time he didn't use, but he doesn't. This guy can afford it. Ed has a business to run. When Billy's 15 minutes are up he is let out of the room, returning his borrowed safety gear and quietly putting on his expensive suit jacket. He looks down, brushes himself off, gives Ed a quick nod without really looking at him, and exits into the night.
And that’s another wasted day of Ed’s life.

Excerpt from the blog Hear Something Weird:
Hi all! Do you want to hear something weird?
You ever just want to feel a song in your bones, like a deep pulsating rhythm that floods your entire body? You ever want to feel it in your fingernails and the pads of your feet? This one requires headphones, I think.
It’s An Animated Description of Mr. Maps, by The Books. This one’s a bit weird, but I love it. Open it up and close your eyes, lean your head back. There’s a rhythm to everything that makes a sound. The spoken word can become the rhythm of a song, and it can seep deep into your brain until you aren’t sure what words are being spoken anymore. I love to listen to songs like this when I need to feel it all coming together, when I need to feel like everything is in tune. The song starts out with a strange snare beat, and it’s hard to follow at first, but…
