Omoritober Day 3: Beta Designs

I love Rowan so I'm happy to finally have an excuse to draw him!

omori week day 4: forest

“Kel!” Hero scowled and shook the tree, causing the younger sibling to whine. “Get down!”

kel shook his head rapidly, clinging on to the branch. He may have been 12, but he knew what would happen when he got down. He would get scolded by hero, and then grounded. He couldn’t loose his Gameboy privileges, it was just something he loved! Aubrey dared him to climb the tree, and by the looks of her face, he should’ve known it would be something like this. He climbed to the very top branch, maybe 3 meters in the air and taunted Aubrey, who begrudgingly admitted defeat.

“Great!” Kel laughed heartily, taunting the girl. “I won!” He laughed again, the rare victory clouding his mind of common sense. The other grinned and ran away, giggling like a toddler.

luckily Basil (bless his heart) saw and called hero in a panic, and here they were now.

The tree was high, obviously. But he was admittedly too scared to climb down, what would happen if he fell?! He’d surely break at least one bone! The boy shivered at the thought, no way, he didn’t wanna come down!

“Kelsey!” Hero scolded, loosing his usual smooth temperament. He knocked on the tree one more time. “Get down here!”

The other was about to protest when his stomach growled hungrily. And it was then that horror dawned upon him. He would have to die up here. He couldn’t go down without loosing his life. Maybe he was doomed to live in the trees, he could drink rain water at least, but-

“Kel, please!” Basil begged, tears running down his face. “You’re scaring us!” He had a… orange Joe and a sandwich in his hands… a lang of need formed in his stomach, and his face must’ve showed it.

“I won’t even tell mom!” Hero sighed, looking at basil with what must’ve been a slight apology.

okay. That was it. If he wasn’t getting in trouble, won against Aubrey, and got free food? There was no other way then to go down, its logical and ethical.

“I’m coming down, you both better keep your word!” He gulped, swinging himself down from the branch, footing himself onto the other branch as it swayed with his weight.

His steady pace was interrupted when he saw a squirrel three inches away from him. He let out a squeak, swatting it away with one hand as his other tried to grasp onto something.

it was then to his horror he was going to fall two meters to the ground, and it dawned on him he was screwed, he was going to die! Death by tree, right!? The world seemed to go in slow motion as he fell to the ground, both Hero and Basil calling his name.

Kel didn’t like forests anymore.

@starboy2461 I’ve been writing sad stuff so here’s a silly story about how Kel broke his arm. I mean- cmon, that boy has broken his arm at least once. I’m imagining the Peter griffin death pose. Sorry if it was rushed, my family is over and i had to speed type this while they speak to me in Tagalog. I DONT SPEAK TAGALOG :(((

Hey! I know you don't like Basil (That's totally fine i don't really care but he's personally my fav) and reading your posts and the reasons you don't like him, you would probably like his beta version 10000% better. His name was Rowan and he is like Basil but with a spine. He was more like Aubrey with a strong set of core values (I don't know much about him and I don't know if he helped Sunny too, like in the final game) but what I do know is that when Sunny locked himself away Rowan felt very angry, sad, and betrayed that his best friend cut him out of his life when they promised they'd always be with each other. Like I said, Rowan was a bit more edgy than Basil and was more like Rowan. There was also flower, from OMORIBOY, I don't know much about Flower tho.

i personally don’t really know anything about the beta stuff so this is really cool to know.

tbh i’m not really sure that i would like this guy any better than the basil we have now based on that description, but hey i could be wrong! i do love thé idea of him being edgier because i just- AGH i can’t stand characters who make themselves out to be “uwu soft bois” it just makes my skin crawl! so that’s a change i might find myself really enjoying!

if i’m gonna be so real my number one beef that i have with basil isn’t even him himself it’s his FANS always up in my business and the main reason why i still hate him is out of spite because 90% of the basil stan’s i be interacting with act like they have full authority over what omori is about and what people should or shouldn’t take away. but it’s clear you’re not like that so thanks! for being decent!!

Basil started as my #1 fav Omori character and I just realised today that he was bumped from #3 to #4... BY ROWAN LITERALLY NONE OF THESE CHARACTERS ARE REAL IN THE STORY HOW DID THIS HAPPEN

Daily Doodle - Basil Overwhelmed

Ok, so, trying to draw Basil some more. Still trying to find ways to differentiate between a possum and a mouse. I think having a longer skinnier snout helps a bit, but that’s hard to achieve from every angle. Otherwise, I think I’m getting better at having the characters express emotion. I feel like I’m cheating a bit since Basil is one of the more anthropomorphic members of the cast, but hopefully my skills are improving.

I think that’s all I’ve got to say, so enjoy!
