I shared it in the discord, but here is some Misuta/Fool from @venomous-qwille's Ghost in the Machine story.

A gentle breeze sighs through the greenery at the edge of the garden. The smell of a spring rain heavy in the air from a storm that had blown through last night. In the creeping early hours of the dawn the world is lush and twinkling with morning dew and lingering rainwater collected in flowers and leaves. The sky slowly illuminating the skyline in pale purples. 

With a sweeping gesture Fool drapes himself over the ledge where the garden ends. A spot he had sat in many times now. It surely had the loveliest view of the whole estate. At least when the timing was right.

Tossing back his cape to free his shoulder he lifts his guitar into position - facing his body towards the house. The third floor window open and waiting. He smiles bright to himself. A surge of fond excitement skittering through his wires at the sight. 

Softly plucking the strings he begins to play a tune that seemed to sing louder and louder through his mind these days. A lilting lullaby of a love song.

His eyes stay steady on the open window. Voice as soft as a prayer for only his intended audience to hear. Welsh tumbling along like a babbling brook to call his beauty to sit and listen. Beckoning his sweet morning birdsong for the moon above.

From the darkness his prayer is answered by the pale glow of pink pupils. By far the loveliest shade in all the garden. The flowers can only droop in shame at the unparalleled beauty looking down. Electric blue and ocean green features more lovely than the mottled dawn. But most lovely of all is the bemused smile on Misuta’s lips. Fool would do whatever it took to see that smile the other had saved just for him.

Leaning on the windowsill, Misuta rests his chin on a hand as he listens to his Fool’s serenade. An indulgence he would gladly languish in for as long as the other would go on for. Fluttering affection coursing through him as if Fool’s fingers were plucking along in his heart. Silk ruffles of his sleeves blowing in the breeze like falling flower petals.

The final note is held out as Fool locks eyes with Misuta. A nearby leaf collapsing to cascade shimmering drops of rain down to the earth. The world silent with baited breath to see what might come next. Fool sets his guitar aside to stand. Gallantly posturing himself to reach up towards the lunar bot. As if he might just begin reciting Romeo’s lovesick words to Juliet on the balcony.

He smiles wide, eyes crescents as he tenderly calls up, “Goodmorning, Cariad.”

Hi Castle! First and foremost, I absolutely adore your channel and characters. I will be keeping my promise to relisten to the Glenwood playlist and come up with as many questions as possible, and you can expect art of speakers/listeners at some point in the future.

That out of the way, I was wondering how you achieve the vocal effect for when Rose is using her telepathy and/or Beth's thoughts while shifted. I've been trying to troubleshoot and figure it out for my own work but haven't had the best luck. If you have the technical words to describe what you do to the audio while editing, that would be lovely. But if not, no fuss no foul, I know I'll figure something out (/lh)

(Also the Abby Body Double audio and the "Director's Cut" of CW's Reaction to the Beth tailoring audio are two of my new favorite videos when I'm feeling understimulated. I lose my mind whenever I relisten to them /pos)

Absolutely, I'll try to explain as best I can, I'm still trying to teach myself as I go!

I use Audacity right now as my Digital Audio Workspace (DAW), which has been serviceable up until now but I'm looking to change that soon.

As for Rose and the Shifter internal monologue: I overlay a Reverb effect onto the dialogue and that's all I really do in terms of editing. To avoid that metallic sound in the reverb, I'll limit the size of the space t about half. I included what the levels look like for the telepath effect that I've saved. It's really a lot of trial and error to see what sounds best for the effect you want!

(like fr I could not explain what wet/dry gain means, I just know it sounds ok XD)

(Those are two of my favorite audios as well!! The Director's Cut was juts absolute chaos and nonsense but CW and I will be doing more again in the future once we're in the same state again!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Puberty only came knocking on Beth's door, hat in apologetic hand, the year everything else changed, and maybe she didn't notice it right away. Where she was concerned about the mainland, what Gotham and college would be like, and the like, her brother was already twenty and anxious to leave behind a series of hearts that would invariably break. She'd come home early to surprise him but hadn't realised he'd already gotten himself company. Beth knew the girl to be a senior in her glass, more by sight than by name, and for the long blonde hair she sported. She remembers hearing the noises and being curious had made her way to her brother's door. She pushed it open and then stood there and stared. Until that moment, Beth had never seen two people engaged in physical intimacy. Moreover, she'd never really felt any interest beyond the occasional kiss in a story. So why did she watch until he noticed her? She doesn't know. Why did it fill her with a sort of rage she'd never known before? She doesn't know. She walked away as Andy pushed the girl off him and chased her out into the back yard after pulling on a pair of basketball shorts. He tried to explain himself by saying what he had done was sinful. That the reason the girl was making those noises is because sex was something terrible for girls and painful, too. Something that should only happen between husband and wife. At some point, she could only cover her ears and refuse to listen to him but more or less the damage was already done. The anger never really went away. It only became worse when Andy subsequently got married to that goblin of a woman. Beth was only eighteen then and maybe could be forgiven for the meltdown that followed his announcement. She hasn't yet addressed this fully in therapy. ~*~ But more than a dozen years later, that feeling lives in her belly, and she recognises it the moment he steps into the room. He doesn't need the shot-gun blast to garner her attention, but oh how he has a certain flare. She can practically choke on the smell of fear and adrenaline at the mere sight of him. Of course her own breath catches in her lungs for entirely different reasons, which go unnoticed and unmourned in the sigh she exhales slowly. He makes his rounds with small talk in flashes of charisma, nibbling on the hors-d'œuvres and passing judgement on the sparkling wine ~she feels quite the same but she's spoiled by the cellar her family has always kept~ but she feels bile rise when Rachel Dawes has to steal any chance or garnering his attention. Beth watches as she grandstands and hears the way he calls Rachel beautiful. If he watched her swim out in a pool of her own blood, would he find Rachel so pretty then? Beth almost gets to have an answer, a thing that hardly ever happens in day to day life although there is another surge of smouldering envy when she sees light dance off the edge of his knife, and how close he comes to kissing her. She doesn't understand why she feels that ache. Why her eyes prickle and her vision blurs, why she wants to tear Rachel apart because Beth has never really been a jealous creature. But that is the right word. Wanting something... some one ...that doesn't belong to you. Maybe never could. Beth isn't important. Certainly not enough to have a score of men blindly fighting over her. She's only even here because she's Bruce's neighbour, and they are expected to extend invitations to one another. She doubts he or anyone else even know her name. She tries to ignore that rush of heat deep in her belly. The way her knees turn to ocean-eroded sand. Doesn't know what to do with the urge to bite and lick and leave a scar on him all her own. Beth wouldn't flinch from him. She watches until the Bat comes and ruins everything, until the window shatters. When night comes rushing in with a whistling scream. ~*~ There's nothing a hot bath and Eddie Vedder can do for her.

Background: Elizabeth Dawes, or “Beth” as she prefers to be called, is the daughter of Bert Dawes, the jack-of-all-trades from the Disney movie Mary Poppins. Beth’s childhood had happy memories, but by no means could be considered “happy.” Her father was poor; always bouncing from job to job, none of which made very much money, and they did not have a house to live in. Beth is very resourceful and practical, especially when it comes to money. She could be deemed excessively cheap, but she comes by it honestly. She speaks very frankly and will tell you what she is thinking without a second thought. Although Mary Poppins is not her mother, Mary has had a significant motherly role on Beth ever since she was born. Because Mary Poppins and Bert were such close friends, Beth quickly grew to love Mary, and Mary loved her in return. On Tuesdays, when she wasn’t being a nanny to the Banks children, Mary would visit Bert and Beth wherever they happened to be working that day. Mary taught Beth how to behave like a lady, with proper manners and bearing, even though her clothes were always ragged. Beth didn’t go to school, but stayed to help her father, picking up his carefree, positive, and friendly attitude towards life. As she grew older, however, Mary more and more would take Bert aside and speak to him in a muted tone. Not long after, Beth found a cheque made out to her name with the money required to attend school. It was not signed, but Beth is fairly certain that Mary Poppins had something to do with it.

as an egyptian btw, here's my take on the whole rami malek-until daw josh thing. josh isn't egyptian. and you know what? that's fine. there's literally no in game mention of it. yes, rami's culture is erased her way, but like? personally, I think that makes more sense than somehow the washingtons being egyptian and casting it the other way.
