the first time i told ethan and andy i loved them i was delirious with a fever. we were roommates (very gay, i know) and i got uber sick, and they were taking care of me. from what i remember, i asked andy if they would cuddle me while ethan grabbed me some tea, and they said yes. at this point, i just buried my face in their neck and started mumbling about how much i wanted to kiss them, about how pretty them and ethan were and how much i loved and adored them. andy mostly giggled through this, and i was pretty much quiet by the time ethan came back with the tea, and from my understanding, this is what went down.

ethan: i put the honey in it like you- oh, andy, why are you smiling like that? andy: charlie? me: hmph? andy: how pretty is ethan? me: *practically unintelligible whining* soooo pretty ethan: (⁄ ⁄•⁄-⁄•⁄ ⁄) andy: and how much do you want to kiss ethan? me: *very long, drawn-out groan* sooooo bad ethan: *freaking the fuck out* andy: and how much do you want to kiss me? me: *losing my shit* ethan: *losing his shit* andy: *laughing their ass off*

and then when my fever broke and i was no longer delirious, i got kisses! ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

Can we bring back talking about our drs pls? Like story time and fun things that have happened, I feel like nobody does it anymore:(

disclaimer: if i'm being completely honest, this is the vibe of the house for every d/r that i have save one or two. everything is soft and filled with light and love and hope, and it's just how i want it.

you need so much brain power to read dunnett in part because you're constantly trying to figure out why characters are doing whatever the fuck they're doing. this information will not be presented to you in a clear and concise way. sometimes the characters themselves don't even know the reason they're doing those things, so you have to figure out things that are hidden from you by the author, and from the character because repression/self-denial/trauma/etc. sometimes they know exactly why they're doing all of that, but they have so much more information than you do, so you're at a disadvantage still. if you're lucky you'll be following a character who is honest and open about their feelings... but this is a dorothy dunnett novel so those characters are 1 out of a 100.

and i wouldn't have it any other way!! i can imagine how these books would be written by someone who didn't love subtlety as much, or someone who didn't trust their readers enough. they'd be so, so much worse, that's for sure
