Oof, I found a BIG difference between the Japanese and English version here, and honestly I feel like it’s a pretty heavy error. In Japanese, Takao says “when I thought you all abandoned me, all I thought about was how I was the champ, and I lost sight of myself. I lost horribly and was frustrated. But now, it’s different! It’s not all about winning and losing,” indicating that he felt bad about being so self absorbed and only caring about being the champion. Whereas in the English dub, what he says instead is “I came here to win, and that’s what I’m gonna do. My plan was to three-peat as the world champ, and I’ve come too far to let anyone or anything stand in my way. That means you’re going down, Kai!” The English dub completely got rid of his positive character development and made it sound like he’s still self absorbed and only cares about being the champ. 😭

god actually i'm thinking abt rei again. on one hand he definitely comes off as the most stable (aside from g-rev where everyone's kinda going through it) but also i feel like he probably has a lot of shit to unpack. like overall i feel like he's probably the most ''responsible'' of the group but that has its drawbacks too y'know? he's probably willing to hear the others out on their issues but i don't know how often he talks to someone about his own issues.

i mentioned how everyone's kinda going through it in g-rev too and viewed from this perspective it def gives a different angle on rei's behavior there. like obviously everyone's kinda fed up with takao but you also have that one ep where iirc he was REALLY shitty towards rai which i feel points towards a more general issue? this is also kind of why i like his dynamic with salima i think and why i hc them as still being in contact with eachother, it's a friendship where both of them can be upfront about what they've been dealing with.

and of course, there's his... complicated feelings towards daitenji. because on one hand, that's the man who took him in and got him out of homelessness, but also since being told about the actual purpose of the world tournament there's this feeling of "was i being used the whole time?", which tbh i don't know if rei or kai would be the first member of the team to bring that question up, in regards to the entire team i mean but especially rei- and then there's rei's semi-reluctance to re-join the bba team in the latter half of g-rev even if he obviously wasn't on the side of bega either, which, on one hand does very much seem to moreso be about his frustration with takao, but also.. idk, i just think him having not really being sure how to feel about daitenji is an interesting concept.

Currently going through my head: Some fanfic I read in elementary school on Blue Blazes that had something to do with all the bladebreakers writing in their diaries. I remember nothing about this other than Kenny being cranky and everyone individually deciding that he must be constipated and that they should sneak laxatives in his box of spare parts.

Also something about Kai having a new brand of hair gel that’s making his head itch and his concern that people will look at him funny if he itched his head in public.

Wow, I just noticed a big difference between the Japanese and English dubs of Kai and Takao’s battle in episode 30 of G Revolution! Normally, the English dub adds stuff that makes the show MORE goofy, but in this case, it looks like they took a chunk out because they felt like it detracted from the seriousness of the battle.

All the stuff of Takao jumping from one pillar to the next was taken out of the dub, as was his goofy impact scene. I guess they didn’t want him making faces like 🤪 during their serious battle. To add to the seriousness, they replaced the light playful music with the much more intense Rise Above the Storm song. Honestly, I prefer the dub version. Although in the dub, they had to add a scene of Tyson’s friends wondering what he was doing, since one of those silly faces made it into the dub without the context surrounding it.

Okay, found something interesting to share!

This is a scene which was edited out from a oneshot posted here (I think 2 years back). I don't remember now why I took it out, since it actually feels like something that could lead to a very fluffy moment.

But my guess is that I probably ran out of ideas for a proper conversation so I just cut off the chance for either Tyson or Hilary to speak more in the final version posted originally.

This is short, but still I hope someone enjoys it.

When they finally reached her house, Tyson halted so suddenly that Hilary, who had her gaze fixed on her feet bumped into him and had to grab onto his jacked to maintain her balance. “What’s wrong?” She asked quickly, hoping that whatever had caught Tyson’s eye would distract him from noticing her clumsy mistake. “I was wondering…” He began to answer but trailed off making Hilary raise her head in curiosity. As she had been positioned behind him, she had to tilt her head sideways to see past him and figure out just what had confused Tyson to the point that he needed to stop and consider his next move. Unfortunately, Hilary could not make out the problem, she was aware that since they exited the station they had been going down the route that led to her house and as she scanned their surroundings for clue, she didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary on the road around them. “I thought that maybe…” He made another attempt but lost his momentum yet again. Hilary turned her curious eyes to Tyson, and found him playing with his hat once again as his ears continued to be tinted with red. Immediately she felt her heart beat faster, she’d assumed that since they were making their way back home there wouldn’t be any more surprises but Tyson’s behaviour indicated otherwise. Once he realised that her eyes were on him he straightened up, letting his cap go he took a deep breath and turned to look at her. Despite the redness in his ears, his eyes were now oozing with determination that he usually displayed during matches, making Hilary’s flutter uncontrollably. “I thought that since it’s almost time, we might as well watch the sunrise together too,” He spoke quickly this time, jumbling up words in the process but she still managed to hear every word clearly. Hilary stood frozen, her mind a total mess. What she wanted to do was grab Tyson by the collar and demand him to stop being so unpredictable and just tell her whatever was going on in that big head of his because she could no longer figure it out herself. Instead, what she did was simply nod. “Sure, I wouldn’t mind that.” She replied meekly. And after showering her with an almost blindingly bright grin, Tyson started to lead the way again and she quietly followed, but now even looking at his back made the colour rise in her cheeks, so Hilary turned her gaze upwards. By the time they reached their usual hang out spot near the riverbank, the sky was already covered in pinkish hues and was a useful and pretty distraction from the emotional turmoil state her heart was in right now.
