So the funny thing in I Saw the TV Glow is of course that in-universe, The Pink Opaque's ending must be weird AF. Like, we don't talk about it because it works just too well as a metaphor, but that teens' TV show absolutely did end with both main character getting buried alive and kind of left there.

Except that, of course, our world has got wildly popular TV shows with similar ending, too.

So, may I propose the mental image:

You are out here, living your life. It kind of sucks, like there is this thing that isn't quite right, but you don't know what it is, so you are kind of existing without any greater joys or passions, but what can one do. Then your old friend, whom you haven't seen in ten years, randomly shows up, looking somewhat hectic, and announce: "So, remember that old TV show, Blake's 7? Turns out, I am actually Blake. The Federation caught us and is currently mind washing us to think that all of this is real. You need to wake up, Avon."

I genuinely don't know what I would do in this situation. But the idea is so fucking funny.

Astrological Marriage Timing: A Guide for the Romantically Hopeful and Chronically Curious

Disclaimer (Because Someone’s Gonna Ask): These are my personal observations and experiences over the years. Also this gonna be a long post too.

Just because Saturn or Jupiter is waltzing through your 7th house or throwing side-eye aspects at it doesn’t guarantee a wedding. Astrology isn’t Amazon Prime, timing may vary. 😌

This method only highlights possibilities not promises. It won’t tell you for sure that marriage will happen, just when it might. First, we have to look at your natal chart (yes, the whole thing, not just your big three, bestie). If your chart isn’t exactly screaming “wedding bells” say Saturn or the Sun chilling in the 7th house, or a retrograde Jupiter/Saturn/Venus/Mars, that can indicate delays. The stars can suggest, but they don’t force your situationship into a proposal. 💍✨

So how do astrologers predict potential marriage timing? We look at planetary transits especially when they align with or aspect your 1st and 7th houses or 1st lord/7th lord. These connections (like conjunctions and trines) are key indicators.

In Vedic astrology, we specifically track:

Saturn: Aspects the 3rd, 7th, and 10th houses from its natal or transit from its position.

Jupiter: Aspects the 5th, 7th, and 9th houses from natal/transit from its position.

Venus: Aspects the 7th house from natal/transit from its position.

Mars: Aspects the 4th, 7th, and 8th houses from natal/transit from its position.

Sounds promising, right? But here's the catch: just because the transits are lining up doesn’t mean marriage is guaranteed. Why? Because your natal chart has to support it too. If there are malefic planets or tough aspects affecting the 1st or 7th house, or their lords, the cosmic “Yes!” might turn into a “Not yet.”

Also, real talk, these transits happen often. Jupiter and Saturn align roughly every 1.5 - 2 years. If that alone determined marriage, we’d all be walking down the aisle biannually like it's a seasonal sale.

These same transits can also apply to childbirth predictions especially in women’s charts where we focus on the 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th houses (but more on that in my next post 👀).

Oh, and let’s not forget the double transit method, when both Jupiter and Saturn are influencing the 7th house or its lord (or the 1st house/lord). This is a major green flag for possible marriage timing.

And yes, we also consider Mars transits for women and Venus for men (to predict which month) along with the Moon, to help narrow down the actual days things might go down (like, literally down the aisle or a possible date to get married).

Now, when I talk about predicting marriage timing, I’m strictly using the Vedic/Sidereal chart , that’s my lane for predicting marriage timings or significant event/person. Currently, Saturn is transiting Pisces (starting March 29, 2025). For Pisces ascendants, this means Saturn is moving through your 1st house; for Virgo ascendants, it’s hitting your 7th house.

If these transits are aligning and your natal chart is backing you up? You might experience a major shift whether that’s meeting someone significant, getting engaged, or a totally unexpected plot twist (hello, career change or sudden move).

Because here’s the thing: these alignments don’t just scream “MARRIAGE!” as they can bring any major life development. So even if you’re not getting hitched, the universe might still be sending something (or someone) big your way.

🌸 For Women:

Jupiter is currently transiting Taurus and will stay there until May 14, 2025, before strutting into Gemini. Then, on October 18, 2025, Jupiter enters Cancer, but plot twist as it goes retrograde on November 11 and backtracks into Gemini on December 5. Basically, Jupiter’s doing a little cha-cha around your chart this year.

We also track Mars for women, and here’s how that’s going:

Entered Cancer on April 3, 2025

Enters Leo on June 7

Heads into Virgo on July 28

Slides into Libra on September 13 ...and continues on its spicy little journey.

💅 For Men:

Venus has been having a moment in Pisces, went retrograde on March 2, 2025 and finally turning direct on April 13 which is just three days away (hehe). From there:

Enters Aries on May 31

Moves into Taurus on June 29

Dances into Gemini on July 26

Glides into Cancer on August 21

And lands in Leo on September 15

So what do we do with all this? According to your ascendant, your ascendant lord, 7th house, and 7th house lord, we need to check where these planets are transiting and whether there are malefic influences messing things up. A well-aligned transit is great, but if Saturn, Rahu, Ketu, or any spicy Mars action is crashing the party? Expect delays, detours, or cosmic ghosting.

TL;DR: The stars are moving, but whether they’re moving in your favor depends on what your natal chart has to say about it.

my attempt at sorting through the kakashi timeline. (i now realize my other post had a small mistake)

5: enters the academy along with everyone else. matriculation is more like the official enrollment into attending an academy/university rather than yearly orientation. seems we can assume this was the point that the students were first accepted into the academy

later at 5: graduates the academy and becomes known as a prodigy

6: becomes a chunin all while the rest of his generation are still in the academy

7/8: sakumo dies

9: is put on team minato with genin his age. meets obito and rin (also 9) but theyve just freshly graduated the academy. im not actually sure if 9 is the graduation age cause i dont have confirmation panels but thats what ive heard. its kinda irrelevant anyways i guess as long as its before the chunin exams.

…11/12..? (look to obitos age below for a more accurate estimate): takes chunin exams with team 7. now THIS is where the issue is. that stupid fucking panel of him holding up his chunin paper that shows after he beats guy. i originally mistook this for a flashback to him becoming chunin before realizing what the order of the panels was suggesting so thats the mistake. there are a couple ways to fix this

1. pretend it was a reinstation for whatever reason.

ideas:

- because he was made chunin super young and the rank needed a renewal due to his young age at the time

- he didnt actually take the exams at 6 since he didnt have an official team and was given the rank based on skill so it was kinda unofficial and this was his official exam

- he needed to get reinstated because he had a new team and the exams were supposed to in part measure the teams compatibility

- something else thats better thought out than my ideas

2. pretend that panel doesnt exist 👌

3. some other excuse

basically directly addressing this panel instead of deaging him fucks less with the timeline and portrayals and should fix the inconsistency as well. i mostly see people headcanon the age difference as 2-5 years but if were going with this, the age difference should be roughly 5-7 years- obito was 12/13 when he got crushed and had just become a chunin because in that same scene, rin whispers to him about meeting up and that meet up is to discuss kakashis present for becoming jonin. they give kakashi his gifts on the way to the bridge. chunin exams are held biannually during fall and spring. he got whooped by guy in the 1 on 1s and promptly failed in what we can assume was fall.

hes shown training during winter and retakes the exam in the spring so less than a year passes in between obito failing and becoming chunin (those are flower buds btw. i thought they were leaves but theyre not). if obito was 12/13 when he got smooshed, he was 11/12 at absolute minimum when he failed and kakashi became chunin (6)

and that age difference of 5-7years makes no sense because hes taller than rin and the same height and age appearance wise as the rest of his grade. if that really was their age difference, kakashi would look a LOT younger during orientation. as crazy as his chunin at age 6 feat is, its very difficult for me to suspend my belief and imagine him enrolling in the academy at 0 to -2 years old. it would also make rin pretty creepy and as confrontational as obito is, i feel like he would not beg to be rivals with someone 5-7 years younger than him. that would hurt his pride too much

12/13: becomes jonin when obito becomes chunin. kannabi bridge mission. chaos ensues

i only really looked into the info from chapter 599 and 240 and whatever else i linked so if there are any other relevant timeline drops that totally breaks my case then ive totally missed them so lmk

At the Gallifreyan Institute for Learning (GIL), we believe in fostering a productive and minimally disastrous work environment. As such, we conduct biannual performance reviews to assess the contributions of our esteemed employees.

In the interest of transparency, we have compiled some anonymous excerpts from the most recent review cycle.

📌 General Employee Observations

Displays great initiative. Sometimes, too much initiative. Perhaps dial the initiative back by 12%.

Since the last review, has successfully prevented at least three (3) minor catastrophes and caused two (2).

Demonstrates strong leadership qualities. Unfortunately, those qualities are only demonstrated when securing additional meal breaks.

Would benefit from a greater awareness of personal space.

Communication skills have improved, though excessive use of sarcasm in official reports continues to be noted.

... Though we do reiterate: simply observing a task is not the same as completing it.

📌 Specific Departmental Feedback

🔬 Research & Development: Contributions to scientific discovery have been invaluable. Contributions to health and safety violations have been… notable.

🌌 Human & External Relations: Excellent at engaging with alien minds. Less excellent at remembering that their own species is technically included in that category.

🍽️ Catering: Food quality remains exceptional. Explosiveness levels continue to fluctuate unpredictably.

💻 Assistant Performance Notes: Extremely vocal about workplace conditions. Constantly demands immediate food-based resolutions. Struggles with long-term planning, though excellent at napping.

🏫 Final Notes

Overall, the March 2025 performance reviews reflected an engaged, talented, and, at times, mildly concerning team of employees. We are pleased to report only minor catastrophic incidents and a marked improvement in interdepartmental diplomacy.

We look forward to another six months of continued excellence, innovation, and, hopefully, fewer fires.

The Cambion (Demon!Izuku) (1/3)

This is an alternative universe where demons can be familiar to witches or wizards to assist and, most of all, as protectors. Witches and wizards can create pacts with demons.

Demon! Izuku Midoriya:

Initially, he was always looked down upon due to not looking like the typical muscular or attractive demon. A demon who has the typical big horns on their head and essentially two wings. A demon with powers that are beyond moral dreams.

He didn’t have anyone teaching him. He never met his father and doesn’t even know if his moral mother still exists within the moral dimension.

His horns were small and chipped at the edge instead of having a sharp edge. He had only one wing due to being the offspring of a human and a demon. He didn’t have any powers such as fire, ice, or explosions.

It took him much more time to learn how to wing compared to the rest of the demons. Most of the people he grew up with in the area already knew how to fly at the age of 7. In hell, you would often see demon children flying around without a care in the world. For Izuku, it took him eleven years to be able to do it perfectly without crashing to the ground.

When the biannual ceremony around the summoning of a witch came around, a destined demon was assigned to a witch. It’s a big deal among the creatures of hell. It was a golden ticket for them to have access to the moral world and leave this world of hell. However, once out of hell, they could not come back even to visit once they made a pact with the witch. It also depends on the agreements in the pact between the witch and the demon. There was an offering within the summoning each time.

After the sixth time, in the following years, Shoto continuously rejected it. He was summoned again. Izuku knows Shoto would have hated him for the rest of his immortal life. He couldn’t go for another year of Shoto rejecting his golden ticket because of him.

The eyes of Shoto were filled with pure shock, and betrayal will always haunt him. He had pushed him into the summoning circle using the opportunity of Shoto never having his guard up around him.

This is why he already accepted his fate to stay within the world of hell because he was in the lower ranks of demons. The chances are lower than 1% being picked due to not having super abilities and physical strength. He was the weakest of the lower ranks.

He has seen his friends get picked during the ceremony throughout the years. Yet, his longest friend, Shoto, is the most popular and most feared due to being the son of someone who is known by his alias Endeavour. He became the first demon to reject a summoning and later found out the reason why he rejected it. It was because he didn’t want to go somewhere without him. Despite already knowing, Izuku is stuck in hell for his eternal life because of his status.

He had already made his peace that he would be joining those older demons who were never summoned. He will be alone.

The first time was being alone for the summoning ceremony and having no one to sit beside. He stood at the back of the room and watched as other demons were called upon.

Never in his dreams would he have thought he would be called for summoning after giving up his dreams and accepting what everyone had told him. He will never be summoned. He is going to riot in hell, just like the low ranks.

The image of him in the smoke is floating, as the summoning circle is a few feet away from him.

However, this caused the crowd of demons to protest, and some even attempted to steal the summoning when it was destined for him out of desperation. Despite already knowing it was useless, these specific summonings are destined to pick someone who can bring out the best from both parties, the witch and the demon.

He hesitated, but he walked past the injured demons into the summoning circle, not knowing what to expect next. He was engulfed in the circle with his backpack on his back. It was warm as if he were being wrapped around a blanket. His offering to his witch was an earring that was in front of him. He softly took it from the air. He was immediately lightheaded and felt his body was overheating as green electricity surrounded him.

His summoning wasn’t perfect. The toga he was wearing was ripped to shreds and barely covered him. The backpack was barely held together.

The realization landed on him: What kind of witch does he have? Is he going to be sent back and rejected because he is pathetic?

The noise and new environment were making him spiral as he was kneeling on the ground. He felt like everything was spinning around him.

He froze at the sudden feeling of a soft fabric touching his shoulder before his head was over the hood of the robe. He felt the robe grow in size as if to fit him better.

“Breathe, tell me 3 things you can see, 3 things you can hear, and move 3 of your body limbs.”

He had fallen to his knees as the wind and overheating were choking him. He was holding onto his throat. It was a painful minute. Tears were welling up in his eyes before the sensation disappeared. He immediately started coughing as he was gasping for air.

It was an overwhelming experience because he was summoned in front of the stadium inside a summoning circle. The crowd was screaming but quieted down at the sight of his wings, specifically.

At the time, he was too busy trying to adjust to the bright light and a bunch of scents hitting him at once. He was struggling to breathe. It suddenly became loud again.

He will never forget the first act of kindness from you. You gave him space and time to adjust. You brought a new set of clothes since his toga got ruined, and he walked around with a robe covering his body. You even brought him to the Demon Cafe on university grounds for him to eat something. It was then that you brought up the pact since the two of you have 24 hours to make a pact before he will be forced back to hell.

Immediately, the green-haired demon comes out clean and wants you to know about his condition as a demon before striking a pact with you.

“I don’t have any power, including super strength.”

He noticed the way you glanced up at the sight of his horns before saying something that surprised him. No one in hell has said.

“I am not an expert, but I have read that there are some cases of demons' power that could go dormant for years. It’s rare, but whoever told you you didn’t have the power has lied to you. That green-colored electricity and strong winds weren’t from me. That was your power trying to match the same energy as I did to summon you. It could have triggered your power, which could explain why your ride here was tough."

It was tough seeing how he almost showed up completely nude in front of a bunch of people watching the ceremony. The toga was barely covering his body. It felt like the wind was choking him as he struggled to breathe. He was very pale and flustered.

“The reason I didn’t force a pact was back when I first saw you. You were overwhelmed and struggling to adjust to the new environment. Please know you are allowed to reject. I don’t want to force you into something you don’t want.”

Applications for the Fall 2023 session are now open!

The Fanauthor Workshop is a biannual Zoom course for writers of fanfiction. My goal is to create a supportive space for fanauthors to receive constructive feedback on fanfiction, original fiction, or creative nonfiction. If desired, I also provide guidance on moving outside of fan spheres to traditional publishing or other creative writing programs such as MFAs.

Participants of the workshop receive:

Attendance in a 5-7 week course during which you’ll provide feedback to your peers and workshop one piece of your own work, up to 6,000 words.

Access to the Fanauthor Workshop Discord server, where you’ll be able to chat with other workshop members, plus a private channel for your group specifically.

A one-hour consultation with me to go over your workshop feedback, come up with a plan for revision and/or publication, or anything else you’d like to discuss regarding your writing.

Applications close October 1. The workshop will take place weekly, beginning on Friday, November 3.

Note that usually the workshop starts in the third week of October, but I'll be traveling until November. We will be skipping over the day after Thanksgiving, November 24, and resume the Friday after.

The number of weeks the workshop will run (5-7) is dependent on the number of participants. Each workshop will have between 8 and 12 participants.

Group A: 12 to 2pm EST

Group B: 6 to 8pm EST

Anyone over the age of 18 who considers themselves a participant of fandom and who is familiar with fanfiction may apply.

Cost

The cost is "pay what you think the experience is worth,” with the recommended amount of $250.

There's no catch here. I just don't want money to be a deterrent for anyone.

Application requirements

To apply, you will need:

A brief cover letter discussing your fan history and goals as a (fan)writer (more specific instructions on Submittable).

Maximum 2,000 words of your writing, either original fiction or fanfiction. This may be previously published/posted work.

There is no fee for applying.

In the Hashira surplus au how do Kanae and Obanai interact?

HELLO!! THANK YOU FOR THE ASK AND SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG. I had to find answers regarding the timeline (eventually found in this amazing post by @demonslayedher and this detailed reddit post). I got really side tracked by considering how they meet first. As a result, there are some manga spoilers for some backstories (particularly Iguro's).

So! In canon, I don't think Iguro and Kanae ever get to interact. Iguro becomes a hashira after Kanae is killed, so they don't meet as hashira. However, it is possible that they met when Iguro was injured and treated at the hospital. If this happened, it didn't change Iguro's unflattering perception of women. That happened later when he got to know Mitsuri. As a result, if they did meet at the hospital, Iguro probably didn't get a chance to appreciate her swordsmanship or strength, and wasn't comfortable enough to try to get to know her character because of his trauma. It's simpler if they never met, though.

In canon, Obanai meets Mitsuri when she gets lots in the Ubuyashiki mansion. I can't find if either of them were pillars yet, but given the location, I'm guessing this was them on their way to Mitsuri's first biannual pillar meeting. This means that what would otherwise have been a brief encounter gave Iguro the opportunity to really observe Mitsuri, and make a female friend for the first time. This is a huge step for him in overcoming his fear of women.

(Side note - he got awfully far without meeting other strong/nice women. I'm assuming he avoided others and conducted his missions alone, and went to extra lengths to avoid women, so he never really had the chance to have his perception changed. His fears were self-confirming in that way.)

Moving on to the hashira surplus au. Iguro would have met Kanae when he was promoted. This is before he meets Mitsuri, so he has not yet made progress with his fear of women. As a result, there are a couple options:

1) Iguro avoids Kanae as much as possible. They never really interact, so Iguro's fears aren't challenged, and he only changes when he meets Mitsuri, like in canon.

2) Iguro interacts with Kanae somewhat. She is a hashira after all so he can't completely ignore her existence. This makes 1) quite unlikely. It would also be rude, and the other hashira - not to mention Ubushiyaki - would not approve. So they speak when necessary, but Iguro is still noticeably uncomfortable. This disappoints Kanae, but she picks up on it and backs off. She's privately upset since she has no context, but doesn't let it phase her. She speaks to him kindly, as she always does, but doesn't approach him. (Uzui notices this all and is impressed by her, but the other hashira haven't picked up on everything going on.)

Iguro knows logically that not all women are like his family, and he now even has an example, but he is still uncomfortable in their presence. He meets Mitsuri and goes through similar, but not identical, relevations as in canon.

3) Kanae proves to Iguro that his fears of women are wrong. Maybe it starts through contributions at pillar meetings, or how she gracefully handles medical situations. Maybe it's from her approaching him to offer directions in the mansion instead, in a spin on canon.

All outcomes are possible, but in the hashira surplus au, 2 is the case.

Why not 3? Mitsuri challenges Iguro's fears just through how she is: bubbly, genuine, and a bit of a mess. Kanae is inarguably just as kind, but has a more controlled or graceful nature. I think Iguro wouldn't believe her at face value like he does Mitsuri, suspecting hidden inetions. As a result, they never get close until he starts to change, which is when Mitsuri is promoted.

The first time he approaches her unnecessarily, it's to talk about technique. Since flower and snake breathing are both derivatives of water breathing, they have a lot of subtleties they could assess.

At this sudden change in behaviour, Kanae is floored. She quickly picks up her jaw again and is pleasant as always, but she's excited. She doesn't know Iguro at all despite working alongside him for such a long time. And, well, she and Mitsuri are friends. She knows something's going on, and she's curious. Iguro notices this and is slightly intimidated, so their first voluntary conversation is short, but it's a start.

I think over time, they get a much greater appreciation for each other's hard work. Iguro learns about her duties at the butterfly mansion and to her tsuguko & assorted trainees. Kanae learns how he had to work to build his own strength, develop his own style and work around his partial blindness. Despite getting to know each other, I don't think they become very close, as they're not really each other's type of person. Iguro prefers genuine people (Sanemi, Mitsuri, I reckon Rengoku as well) who either lack the ability or interest in lying/hiding their feelings. Kanae on the other hand is more reserved and thinks before she speaks, as she doesn't wish to hurt others. It's not that Iguro doesn't trust her, but this "filtering" isn't something he appreciates about people in general. On the flip side, Kanae notices how Iguro reflects on things, and particularly disagrees on how he refers to other members of the corps. She's not a fan of his harsh tongue, but she respects him.

So to answer the actual initial question after yapping on about history, I think they're pleasant with each other. They get along. They're not best friends, but they respect each other. They're ideal colleagues, in a sense: cooperative, but unlikely to muck around or goof off. They got along better because Iguro met Mitsuri, but they never become super close, neither before or during the events of canon (following Tanjiro's storyline).
