So funny that testament’s name isnt intended to be like the bible but like. A will and testament. Yeah theyre an ex Holy Order knight yeah they used to talk about hell all the time yes their new outfit has. Hang on. At least 20 crosses on it. But it has nothing to do with their name. Their name is testament because theyre The Skeleton.

Something most people know by now is that the Lost Soul was originally going to have a "psychic" attack where it supposedly drains the player's health with some telekineses (Or is it Psychokineses? I dunno lol) type of attack.
It could have been annoying if you were hitscan snipped by a floating skull as opposed to dumb zombies with the same weapons as you.
Some mods do try to bring back this concept but others give this version of the Lost Soul a simple projectile.
Maybe one could get creative with Lost Souls and do what Golden Souls did: Make them almost mimic Boos from Mario where they try to chase the player from behind but if you turn around fast enough, they get in a vulnerable laugh state.
Or the idea of a "mental drain" could've been reserved for something else.
You know that mirror scene from Doom 3? And this is also somewhat inspired by the trend of Slenderman horror games.
But imagine if there were mirrors with demonic imagery that is so horrible, it hurts the player if they look at it for too long.
Something actually suiting a gameplay/lore context of "it literally kills you by looking at it".
But there could be some helpful feedback to warn the player and the option to destroy the mirrors.

Something noticeable about modern Doom is how armor absorbs 100% of damage, making it seem like a second health bar.
Perhaps because of how fast the new games are and certain gameplay differences, it can be justified but i always thought it was a bit lazy.
That at least it could've been an upgrade of sorts.
But i also thought there could be ways to make armor more interesting, like having "ghost" enemies that can attack through armor.
I also liked how the Radsuit in Eternal acts more like an armor by only degrading when interacting with toxic floors as opposed to being a timed power up in classic Doom.
It made me wonder if the Radsuit could be used to protect the player against stuff like the Cybermanc's acid attacks, as if Doom armor suddenly took notes from the Toxic Suit in Unreal.
Or as if there were different armor types based on specific damage types.
Besides Unreal, Blood also had armors based on damage types.
There's also the shield items in the Doom Bible that i believe were like this.
I also said something about Eternal's Chaingun and the idea of its energy shield reflecting projectiles.
Maybe something like Quake's Empathy Shield or Blood's Reflective Shots.
In general, i think armor in Doom could be expanded upon besides just how much damage it absorbs and the concept of armor bonuses.
This can also tackle on armor themes like some of them being UAC and others being Sentinel.
If Doom had another slow game, could also be a way to come up with side effects like making you slow... or would that be too far?
