What a rough day.

I didn’t check the weather and there was a thunderstorm all day so I waited in a wooden shed for 8 hours because I am OVER riding in the rain. I tried to move my packed bike under a tree canopy so my stuff wouldn’t get as soaked. I dropped it in the process and gas leaked everywhere. All I ate were 3 sugary coconut bars and some beet flavored gummy candy all day.

The rain stopped at 8:30pm so I tried to start it. Battery was dead. Good thing I camped near a downhill. I couldn’t get it to bump start and had to roll it in neutral into town with no headlights. This was so scary. Then I had to push it for 800 meters to this restaurant. If you’ve ever pushed a fully loaded bike for 800 meters on an empty stomach, this is pure suffering.

After I ate, I asked the owners if they had jumper cables and they took over and jumped my bike for me. Freaking Italian angels in Luxembourg. I am so grateful for these guys.

Thank you Dario and Roco for getting me back on the road.

But it’s not over yet, I still need to ride an hour to charge the battery. I just want today to be over

旅行中にバイクをレンタルすると、トラブルも必要以上に心配になる。幸いにして大きな事故はなかったものの、小さなトラブルは実際にあった。

昨年の旅行ではオーバーヒートした話（Koh Samui – Jungle Route 360）を書いた。

今年は、パンクだ。

ある道の角を曲がった際にパン！という破裂音がした。一旦バイクを止めてみたものの何も異常がないように思えたのでそのまま5～10分くらい走った。すると徐々に座り心地が悪くなってきた。再度タイヤを見ると、やっぱりパンクしていた。

レンタルした場所にメッセージを入れてはみるものの、なかなか連絡が取れない。ホテルまでは少し距離があるのでそのまま乗って帰るのも危ないし、歩いて帰るには遠すぎる。

そんなこんなで、しばらく道路ぎわにいた。すると、横をバイクで通り過ぎたタイ人の方が戻ってきてくれた…

I've been enjoying the view from my office this morning! Even justified the LAST PIECE of my Nannys tiffin, which I absolutely adore, along with the memories it's stirs within me. Genuinely, nearly shed a tear on route into Breda when I thought I'd lost my food bag, I wasn't concerned by anything other than the last piece of Tiffin. Fortunately my food bag appeared (really not many places to hide on a bike), along with the Tiffin. More than a little cliché, but it did make me think how we should enjoy things whilst we're able to, whether a moment in life, a moment with a loved one, a moment of love, or a piece of Tiffin, before it gets smashed to smithereens in the bottom of your pannier! Another realisation & an issue I've faced & will continue to face whilst travelling alone, drinking coffee.
