I've been wondering lately: what would the relationship between Ray and his children be like? I think it would be awkward and toxic, knowing that Ray didn't have a good connection with his parents and his experiences with NAHA, but deep down, I want to believe he would at least try to be a good father and create a connection with his children.

I think it would be good in the beginning. Like, infancy through elementary school. A lot of his behavior would depend on whether or not they have an ability- I think he'd be happier if they didn't because that would (mostly) eliminate any threat of NAHA sniffing around them.

But during that early childhood, it's basically like taking care of a pet. You feed it, play with it, clean up after it... its brain is mostly still mush, so it doesn't have a lot of complex thoughts and feelings to grapple with.

Once they hit pubesence, that's when things start to get dicey. The acts of teenage rebellion would be annoying, but they probably wouldn't warrant more than an eye roll (Ray is forever marked with the reminder of his own teenage rebellion- he knows what that's like). No, it's going to be them peeling back the mask that gets to him.

They know their dad is Binary Star- how can they not?- and they're going to hear less-than-savory things about him. Things they didn't fully comprehend when they were younger, but will understand more and more the older they get. And think about how easily the MC was able to find evidence of his war crimes, just on a normal-ass forum they probably found through google- didn't have to use TOR or anything. Ray's kid is going to learn about their dad, and more likely than not, they're going to be horrified and disgusted by him.

And god, can you imagine them discovering how their parents actually met? "Well, your dad stalked me for three years, murdered one of his coworkers for hitting on me, and then threatened to kill me if I didn't date him, and I'm still here so you can probably guess what I said, ha ha!"

We know how Ray handles rejection (badly). We know that reacting with fear seems to trigger that prey drive within him. And I'mma be 100% real- I don't know if he would able, to say nothing of willing, to curb that seemingly instinctive desire to kill the things that cause him distress even when its his own kid. Sure he didn't kill Steel Sheriff, but he's more than willing to kill the MC despite probably "knowing" them longer than he knew Steel (if he was 16 during the war and probably still that age when NAHA sent him to live with Steel but he left the second he was a legal adult, then he only lived with the guy for two years max. He was stalking the MC for longer than that). It could be argued that he kills them because their rejection hurts more, and, like... yeah. I think being rejected by his child, the one being that everyone seems to agree would love him unconditionally, would hurt even more than that and would trigger an even more violent response.

Best case scenario, he grows incredibly distant and his kid becomes estranged. Worse case scenario, the ghost of his brother weighing on his soul gets some company.

Aged Up Hop x Non-Binary Reader

Prompt - " I'll always protect you"

You are traveling though the Wild Area to get to Hammerlock when you hear something.

It sounded like a Pokémon battle and someone just lost. You wanted to know if everyone was okay. It was fine, you were procrastinating going to Hammerlock anyway. So you pulled out your bike and started to ride to the area where you heard it.

It took you a while to find it but when you did your heart dropped. Hop was leaning over his Wooloo.

His Wooloo looked beat, and it needed to get help. When you heard laughing, you looked over to see two members of Team Yell.

You gritted your teeth.

You could piece together what happened. Neither of them seemed to notice you. You were about to go help Hop when one of the grunts started to speak. “That was one of the worst battles I’ve had!” They yelled and their friend yelled too.

“You’re the worst”, “So weak”, “You should get rid of that Wooloo”.

It went on and the more they spoke the more angry you got. The truth was that you were Hop’s partner.

You two started dating about halfway through your journey. You cared about Hop so hearing these losers talk bad about him made your blood boil.

Your hands were clenching your bike's handles and your breathing started to increase. Though you didn’t get to spend a lot of time with Hop because of the journey you still cared about him. He was your best friend.

When one of the grunts started to walk closer to Hop that's when you lost it. “Hey!” You yelled, scaring some Pokémon.

You dropped your bike and walked in front of Hop. You hovered your hand over your Pokeballs, ready to grab one if the Grunts wanted to fight.

Both the grunts and Hop were surprised when you revealed yourself. “Leave”, you said through gritted teeth.

The grunts were surprised by your anger but they didn’t move. “No”, one of them said. “You can’t tell us to leave”, the other said. You glanced back at Hop.

Wooloo needed help, you needed to finish this fast.

“No I can’t tell you”, you grabbed one of your Pokeballs, “But I can make you”. The grunts realized that they should leave and they did.

The smart choice. Once you made sure that they were gone, you placed your Pokeball back and turned around.

You immediately crouched down and dropped your bag. You got out a Full Revive and sprayed Wooloo. After a bit Wooloo looked to be better.

“Thank you Y/n”, Hop got Wooloo back in its Pokeball. You stood up and offered your hand to Hop.

“It’s been a while since I’ve seen you”, you said. Already calmer than before. Hop smiled but you could tell that it was forced.

“Why don’t we catch up?” Hop said with a fake smile. You nodded and grabbed Hop’s hand. You looked around for a clearing before finding one and walking there with Hop.

You and Hop exchanged stories about what’s been happening. You were happy to see Hop again and you could tell Hop was happy to see you too.

But you could also tell that Hop was saddened. You knew that it was probably about what Team Yell said and that made you mad all over again.

You wanted to ask Hop what was wrong.

Once you got to the clearing Hop started to set up but you placed your hand on his shoulder. Hop looked at you before you spoke.

“Are you okay?” You asked, and Hop looked back down. Hop sat, and you sat with him. “No. What they said hurt man”, you knew what and who Hop was talking about.

“They were right”, that made you mad. No. They were wrong. Hop was really strong and great and battles.

Hop had self-esteem issues because of being the little brother of the Champion. You had helped him, but Hop still needed reassurance.

“Stop talking about yourself like that”, You grabbed Hop’s hands and moved him so you two were facing each other. You were holding Hop’s hands in your and looking in his eyes. You noticed tears brimming his eyes.

“You are great. Do you know how many gym badges you have?” Hop smiled slightly. Last time you saw him, Hop had half of the badges he needed.

By that smile you assumed he had gotten more. “You are a great battler. Even though you lose sometimes you still win”, Hop looked confused at that.

So you explained. “When you lose you can learn from your mistakes and win the next fight”, Hop smiled. “Next time you meet Team Yell you’ll win and rub it in their faces”, you smiled and Hop had to remove his hands and wipe the tears that were falling out. You pulled Hop into a hug.

He was sitting on your lap as he slowly cried onto your jacket. You didn’t mind. “Just let it out. You’ll feel better”, you said while rubbing a hand up and down his back.

Once Hop calmed down he pulled away and you placed a kiss on his forehead. Hop blushed a bit and smiled at you. “Thank you for that Y/n. And thank you for protecting me”. You smiled and looked at Hop in the eyes.

Shout-out to the sword fighting renaissance faire guy from three years ago who approached me and my dad and said "Would you be interested in having this young lad here taught to be a man in the swordfighting ring?" and I said "I don't think I'm very interested in becoming a man." and without skipping a beat, as if what he said to my dad next was so blatantly obvious, "Well then teach them to be a woman! Or anything else! Everyone should be able to hold their own in a duel regardless of identity!" I wish I had the courage and time to have taken him up on that offer.

Doing some silly kobold/dragon world building based on sequential hermaphroditism, except instead of sex it's just how dragony you are, except that's also kind of a gender :)

Draconids in the middle of their transformations are basically undergoing a second puberty (the first being when their kobold state sexually matures, about the same time human kids go through puberty), and have a lot of puberty associated symptoms, such as voracious hunger, skin/scale problems, growing pains, and bouts of really intense horniness. It's advised that draconids going through their dragon-puberty sleep lots, eat lots, and get plenty of exercise.

Some draconids don't want their bodies to change so dramatically, so medical solutions have been devised to halt the transformation. After a few months of HRT, the initial wave of hormones will wear off and the kobold stays a kobold.

Also, it doesn't just get triggered by break-ups. Death, taking a vacation away from a partner for a couple weeks, a new relationship, or sometimes even other transformations in their social circles have all been known to trigger dragonification, if a precise cause is ever found at all. On top of that, some draconids skip the adult kobold stage entirely and morph straight into dragons, but this is pretty rare. Hormone therapy can also be used in these cases if they decide they want to become kobolds instead.

There's also treatments to go from dragon back to kobold. This is much harder on the body than the other way around, but determined draconids can make it work.

(The actual sexes of the dragons and kobolds are usually irrelevant.)

While this relationship is the "normal"/socially enforced way to go about things, plenty of different arrangements exist, each with varying levels of acceptability. For example, a single kobold with a single dragon is not the ideal, but acceptable (if they're looking for more - if they're happy as-is, it's considered strange), whereas two (or more) dragons with no kobold partners are much more maligned. I usually don't enjoy writing fantasy homophobia though so idk how much I'll flesh that out, I'm just rotating hot scalies
