The wolf growled as a distinctly human-shaped figure stepped out between the trees.

"Easy," the figure said, lifting a hand, "I'm not prey, pup. Here, take my scent, you'll find me not to your tastes."

Despite not truly comprehending the words, the wolf nonetheless sniffed the air. It let out a low whine.

"I know, pup," the figure smiled, teeth glinting in the moonlight, "you're hungry, aren't you? Come with me. Let us find you some deer to hunt."

The figure started walking deeper into the woods, the wolf slowly following. The tempting scents of the nearby village faded more and more into the distance. Soon, all it could smell was the forest: earth and plants and prey.

A herd of deer. A straggler. Splitting off from the group.

They cornered it.

The wolf pounced.

Hours later, the no-longer-a-wolf woke. The ground underneath him was hard but something on top of him was soft. It slid off his shoulders as he sat up. A coat. Not his own, certainly.

"Good morning," someone said pleasantly. The more-of-a-man startled.

And startled again when he spotted the creature that had spoken.

The werewolf jumped to his feet, tried to back away. Belatedly, he realised that the coat had now fallen to the ground, exposing him. He scrambled for the garment, all while trying to keep his eyes on the monster in front of him. It merely watched, sat on a rock, its legs crossed in a mockery of polite company.

The vampire smiled.

"Really now, if I had wanted to hurt you, I would have done so while you were unconscious."

The werewolf's hand flitted up to his neck, finding no mark nor scratch.

"Besides, you aren't exactly to my taste, either."

I don’t think this is the general mood but is anyone else excited for Matt and CR to explore stories and worlds beyond Exandria? Obviously I’ve greatly enjoyed that world and the stories they told there but I’m always excited for new things.

I think there’s often a trend in fandoms of wanting any new content to be “the same, but more” so I’d like to instead express how excited I am to explore new and different. I want to be surprised! I’d love to fall in love with something completely surprising.
