Hi!! i was looking through the masterpost and couldn't find anything for it, so i wanted to ask- is there any guide to how cats would be described in the allegiances page in-game? ex. a rosette cat being described as "oddly-spotted" etc. i wanna use similar descriptors for cats, but the page only accounts for alive cats inside the clan, so i was wondering if theres any list of what pelt traits indicate what description is used?
Well, there was no resource for this, but let's make one now! I peeked into the files to grab the descriptors for you :]
Below the readmore, this is very long as I included everything that goes into it! Hopefully it helps <3
☆ Fable ☆
Colour Descriptors
"pale"— White
Only called "pale" if the cat is not singlecolour, twocolour, tortoiseshell, or calico. In these cases, it is called "white"
"pale gray"— Palegrey
"gray"— Grey
"dark gray"— Darkgrey
"pale ginger"— Paleginger
"dark ginger"— Darkginger, Sienna
"light brown"— Lightbrown, Lilac
"golden brown"— Golden-brown
"dark brown"— Darkbrown, Chocolate
"black"— Ghost
Colours that are listed the same as they are coded— Silver, Golden, Ginger, Brown, Black
Pattern Descriptors
"[colour] tabby"— Tabby, Marbled, Mackerel, Classic, Agouti, Sokoke
"speckled [colour]"— Speckled
"unusually dappled [colour]"— Bengal
"unusually spotted [colour]"— Rosette
"[colour] ticked"— Ticked
"[colour] smoke"— Smoke
"dorsal-striped [colour]"— Singlestripe
"masked [colour] tabby"— Masked
Tortoiseshell Descriptors
"[colour]"— [Base colour]/[Patch colour]
Base colour refers to the main colour, while patch colour refers to the colour of the cats patches. They are always written with the slash between them Examples: brown/ginger, pale gray/black
"[colour] tortie"— A tortoiseshell with either no white patch, or a white patch that is either classed as little white or mid white.
"[colour] calico"— A tortoiseshell with a white patch that is either classed as high white or mostly white.
"[colour] mottled"— A tortoiseshell whose base colour and patch colours are both in the brown, black, or white category
They do not need to both be in the same category, just one of those three; a lilac and ghost tortoiseshell will be listed as mottled, for example, but a lilac and ginger tortoiseshell will not
"[descriptor] tabby"— If a tortoiseshell has the pelt type Tabby, Ticked, Mackerel, Classic, Sokoke, Agouti, Bengal, Rosette, or Speckled, "tabby" is added after the descriptor.
Example: A Lilac and Ginger tortoiseshell tabby with the Rosette pattern and no white patches would be listed as a "light brown/ginger tortie tabby"
White Patch Descriptors
"[colour] and white"— A non-tortoiseshell with a white patch that is either classed as little white, mid white, or high white.
Can also be a tortoiseshell with a white patch that is either classed as little white or mid white
"white and [colour]"— A non-tortoiseshell with a white patch that is classed as mostly white.
"white"— A cat with the Fullwhite patch, regardless of what colour they are underneath. Overwrites their main colour
This is different to a singlecolour white cat as they have a different pelt type underneath the patch. Fullwhite cats that are tortoiseshell underneath are listed as calico on their profile page, but not the allegiances
"[colour] point"— A cat with one of the point markings
If a cat is a point under the ginger category, they are listed as a flame point
Gender Descriptors
"she-cat"— Female, Trans Female
"tom"— Male, Trans Male
"cat"— All other identities
Extra Descriptors
"vitiligo"— A cat with vitiligo
Missing body parts have special listings, as follows;
"no tail"— NoTail "half a tail"— HalfTail "three legs"— NoPaw "a missing ear"— NoLeftEar, NoRightEar "no ears"— NoEar
Vitiligo and missing body parts are joined together as "vitiligo, [scar], [scar] and [scar]"
"scarred [colour]"— A cat with three or more scars
"long-furred [colour]"— A cat with long fur
Putting it Together
For a non-tortoiseshell with no white patches:
a [extra] [colour] [pattern/tortoiseshell] [white] [gender] with [extra]
You would remove any non-used sections. Examples below;
a long-furred dorsal-striped pale gray tom with vitiligo and three legs
a dark ginger/light brown tortie tabby she-cat
a scarred white and unusually spotted black cat
a long-furred scarred light brown/black mottled point she-cat with no tail, three legs and a missing ear

seal point drusilla is extremely real omg now i wanna make my own buffy cat designs <- guy who has yet to post their torchwood cats
okay i'm gonna bounce ideas off you. i like the blotched on your buffy so i'm thinking cream blotched for her and maybe cream smoke for spike?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
red willow. for obvious reasons. i'm thinking solid, maybe also with a blotched pattern, probably with white. xander.... black tabby? bicolor? yeah i think that works. mackerel, probably
Tumblr media Tumblr media
dru is a seal point, like you said. angel could be black bicolor or black blotched tabby with white, or possibly even blue tabby? i couls also make him silver. hmm
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anya would also be cream, i think i'd go mackerel for her. giles is probably a black tabby with white, but i need to think on the pattern. another blotched? maybe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
all these cats and not a single tortoiseshell.... maybe i'll make dawn a tortie. blue tortoiseshell dawn sounds like fun. that means joyce also has to be a tortie. but i'm not allowed to put any more pictures in here. sad. anyway i'll stop annoying you now <3
(btw i'm ignoring all breeds in the pictures they're just for the colours)
These are all so real. I actually did have a lighter design for Spike that I used for a while, but I changed it because it wasn't vibing quite right with me. I went darker with him because I wanted to incorporate the fact that he's big evil dark vampire ooo, and also the fact that he's got naturally darker hair and shouldn't have gotten his hands on the bleach.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also thought about making Willow an orange cat, but I decided on tortie because a) I haven't done many tortie designs and I love, and b) I wanted to incorporate a bit of black cat into her, since she's a witch.
I didn't mention it last time but I was also thinking some variation of a tabby design for Cordelia too, but still gotta think about that.

the jamlets?
OH IM SO EXCITED TO SHARE THIS WITH YALL
I’m working on a fic where Jellie has kittens and the experiencing of co-parenting brings Scar and Grian together. I have called Jellie’s kittens “the Jamlets” and I will not be taking criticism thank you. I did actual genetics to come up with these kittens. There are seven in total! Here they are!
Apricot:
Tumblr media
Coat length: short
Coat color: red
Pattern: spotted tabby
Eye color: green (like ref)
Gender: tom
Other: Same white pattern as Jellie (couldn’t find a good ref)
Personality: extremely adventurous, constantly getting into sticky situations. He has orange cat syndrome and is dumb as bricks. Once ate a bee that made his whole face swell up when he was a kitten and Scar had several consecutive panic attacks. Grian is his favorite person and he makes it everybody else’s problem (destroys things when he’s not around to play.)
Peach:
Tumblr media
Coat length: long
Coat color: cream bi-color
Pattern: classic tabby, ( tabby markings faint from dilution)
Eye color: green (like ref)
Gender: tom
Personality: Extremely shy around new people, one very anxious little boy. He picked one person to like (Scar) and is terrified of all others. If a cat could be the personification of anxiety that’s him. Is very agile and graceful but you hardly see him show off.
Strawberry:
Tumblr media
Coat length: long
Coat color: red
Pattern: classic tabby (tabby markings are faint, genetically solid)
Eye color: gold
Gender: tom
Personality: Orange cat syndrome like his brother but he’s extremely mad about it at all times. Would fight god and win. Is rarely called by his actual name but rather by various nicknames such as “Grumpus, “Sourpuss,” “Crabbypants,” “Hot Pepper,” “Spicy,” “Mr. Murder Mittens,” “Lord Murderberry,” and “NO NOT MY ANKLES LEAVE ME ALONE!!!”
Blueberry:
Tumblr media
Coat length: short
Coat color: blue silver (tuxedo white markings)
Pattern: classic tabby
Eye color: copper
Gender: mollie
Personality: Off the walls 24/7. She came out looking pretty much like a fainter Jellie clone and they thought she would be calm but no, she’s very much like her father (affectionately called “batshit insane”) god help you if you come within spotting distance with her favorite toy (bread twist ties) or if you need to go the bathroom (not alone you won’t!)
Basil:
Tumblr media
Coat length: short
Coat color: black
Pattern: mackerel tabby
Eye color: amber
Gender: tom
Personality: LOUD. HE SCREAM. Dramatic little boy he will throw himself in front of your feet and yowl as if you have stepped on him, then gaslight you into giving him a treat even if you did not step on him. Scar calls him his little insurance fraudster. Grian calls him a menace. He is constantly on the brink of starvation and he CANNOT believe you are such a cruel and horrible owner to not feed him, really, do you WANT him to die!? Feathers are evil and must be defeated. It is 4am so he must sing the song of his people and do zoomies around the house.
Mixed Berry “Miss Berry”:
Tumblr media
Coat length: long
Coat color: tortoiseshell (dilute, low-white)
Pattern: genetically solid, faint mackerel tabby markings in red fur
Eye color: Green
Gender: mollie
Personality: Constantly judging you. She’s better than you and she knows it. The tortitude is REAL. She’s fairly aloof but food motivated and tolerates everyone to some extent. Only really gets excited about Pearl visiting. Secretly likes her siblings and Grian and Scar but don’t you dare point it out. Never called by her actual name, she’s either “Miss” “Miss Berry” or “Missy.” Treated like a queen. Thinks she’s the favorite. Don’t tell her she’s not.
Kiwi:
Tumblr media
Coat length: short
Coat color: black (tuxedo markings and socks, face markings—mustache)
Pattern: solid
Eye color: green
Gender: mollie
Personality: The actual favorite. A very adventurous cuddle bug! If she’s not hunting dust bunnies she’s always in someone’s lap. LOVES to greet strangers and loves being held like a baby. Has a weird fixation with water that cost Scar thousands of dollars (turned on the gap and flooded the entire bathroom.) She has to drink out of a water fountain or tap or she doesn’t drink at all. She gave Scar and Grian a scare when she was born and Scar has Never Gotten Over It. She likes Mumbo to a disturbing degree. They have matching mustaches. He would die for her.
The father: Peanut Butter
Tumblr media
coat length: short
coat color: chocolate
pattern: spotted tabby
eye color: amber
Gender: tom (obviously)
Personality: Was originally skittish but has since become a menace to society. He likes to eat trash and start fights. He was supposed to be an indoor cat after Grian found him, but he’s an escape artist and likes to cause panic on purpose. He’s where Blueberry and Apricot get their 0 chill personality. There’s something wrong with him probably. Has street smarts but is horrible at putting them into practice. Constantly getting stuck in things. Called PB for short or “little mans”
The mother: Jellie
Tumblr media
coat length: short
coat color: black tortoiseshell silver (mask and mantle white pattern)
pattern: classic tabby
Eye color: green
Gender: mollie (obviously)
Personality: the one true Queen we all know and love. Is a little more of a sneaky girl in this but still so so sweet and a major cuddle bug. What Jellie Wants Jellie Gets. Scar’s instincts to maim and kill for her only get worse when he realizes he’s a grandpa.
Yes I did literal actual genetics research to figure out her coat color and what her kittens could look like no I’m not okay. I had no idea she was a tortoiseshell and not just a black silver until I looked at close up pics and saw she has red (diluted to cream by the silver gene, so it just looks like rufousing) fur interspersed throughout her flank and belly and on her face. I’m so insane about this she’s such a pretty girl.
Anyways PLEASE ask me about the Jamlets or PB&J or Scar and Grian and how the fic goes I have so much knowledge rattling around up here and I want to share it with the world NOW!!!!!

Greenwood Faction Cards - The Stormborn
Tumblr media
The Stormborn have always been regarded as the most unusual and strangest looking creatures of the forest with their long, plush tails and short but feathery ears. Compared to the other factions, it wouldn’t be hard to mistake them for being near completely defenseless with their fluffy tails and thick coats without horns or fins. The enemy who makes this mistake however will come to immensely regret it - for mixed within their long coats, sukeme of the Stormborn have long barbed quills that lay calmly against their skin. When feeling threatened, it’s not just their hackles that raise but these pointy, painful defenses.
These long quills start just before their hindlegs forming a sort of cloak over their rump, blanketing the top of their tails. Speaking of their tails, though plush and fluff; the underside of around half-way down is also laced in sharp quills and woe-betide any attacker who makes the mistake of trying to grab them by it. It’s recommended that if you are speared by their quills that you wait until a trained mender can attend to you and the subsequent bleeding.
Quills aside, the Stormborn tend to be various kinds of tabbies that hide them well in their dense forest homes. Tortoiseshells are equally common, finding their best luck when the leaves drop from the trees - their dappled pelts matching the fallen leaves sprinkling the forest floor. They sport powerful, muscular builds, large paws and broad faces - there are often whispers that due their founder showing the most repentance for The Spilling, the Souls were kinder to the Stormborn and left some of their Ancient power within them giving them more lion-like features.
--
Common Patterns - Mackerel/Ticked Tabbies, Tortoiseshells
Common Colors - Red, Brown, Black, Gold
-
Uncommon Patterns - Spotted/Classic Tabby, Torbie
Uncommon Colors - White, Silver, Ruddy
-
Rare Patterns - Colorpoint
Rare Colors - Cream, Blue (Cool Gray)
--
OVERALL TERRITORY
The Stormborn are settled in the primarily deciduous part of the Greenwood Canopy - while there are evergreen trees scattered throughout the forest, they are primarily found further north-west than the others. They are unanimously agreed to have the most frustrating territory for a newcomer to navigate - the ground level is completely covered with brackens and bushes, thick layers of moss coating the barks of trees and the twisting roots of their oaks. The branches are mostly interlocking, ensuring the ground is dappled with sunlight throughout the day; enhancing the camouflage provided by tortoiseshell pelts.
Though visitors complain about the confusion turning them in circles, the Stormborn themselves can easily navigate their territory. From early training, cadets are brought through a series of routes to different important locations in their territory that escalates into leaving the cadet in specific locations with orders to get as quickly to a different location as possible. By the time a legionary earns their true name, they’ve mastered and memorized every leaf and bramble in their forest.
They proudly boast that their territory always looks gorgeous - in makiim (summer), the branches are a vibrant green with beautiful blossoming flowers and juicy fruits; in ahaliim (autumn) the ground is dappled in leaves of many colors - gold, red, orange and brown; in ilkiim (spring) the buds wave in the wind as freshly born animals scamper about their territory, little puddles of water twinkling in the sunlight. Even dahiim is beautiful - the ground sparking with white snow, icicles dangling from branches and frozen bonds providing windows into the waters.
Notable Landmarks:
The Old Basin - An old hollow full of soft, warm pink-ish red sand that used to be filled with water once upon a time when the river was wider. Eventually the water drained away leaving the smoothed sand and silt from the river. The Stormborn have many theories about the Old Basin - some say that Sunsoul dried up half of the river and Treesoul took what remained and used it to nurture the surrounding trees given how rich and tall the trees around the Basin are. Others say Riversoul reached down and rerouted the river like he did with the part around the Suncairn.
The Neutral Stretch - A large stretch of fertile territory popular with prey of all kind. Politically the land belongs to the Shining Sun - lost during The Raids started by The Mad Storm - and is frequently used to train squires and as a dumping ground for excess seed. The scarred trees mark the divide between the Stretch and solid Shining Sun Territory. This little bit of land has saved the Stormborn many times over during hard times as the dumping of seeds keeps prey animals coming back even during the snow-season.
The Suncairn - A massive collecting of rock outcroppings that are surrounded by a well-drained patch of land on the edge of the deciduous forest that led out to the main river. It seems like the rocks were once large buried deep beneath the river and for whatever reason, were pushed to the surface before being smoothed down by the river’s current. For a long time, the river flowed around the Suncairn preventing anyone but the swimming Shorerisen from accessing it but then slowly, over-time the river-rerouted. The Suncairn has been a place of bloodshed, outrage and conflict ever since as the Stormborn and the Shorerisen fight over the valuable land.
The Boa’s Sarsen - A large collection of somewhat jagged rocks slated together in a way that resembles a coiled snake, creating a series of nooks and hidey-holes that are inhabited by largest collection of blackwhips. The Sarsen is religously significant to the Fennyield, though because it was a Storm cat that was their goddess Hakassebera’s friend; the Storms retain the territory on their own land. Occasionally there have been conversations about officially handing the location over but it remains a popular spot for Fenns and Storms to speak with each other peacefully, especially as cadets.
The Deer Trail - A long since trotted down section of territory that marks the border between the Fennyield and the Stormborn. Deer and wild-boar and even wild horses have long-since trampled the grasses down into a firm trail of dirt, pressing the pebbles and stones deeper into the earth. Almost nothing grows on the trail anymore both because of how long it’s been used but also because the Storms and the Fenns both made dedicated efforts to maintain the easily seen border. The Deer Trail is a dangerous place in ilkiim (when the wild boar return and hae their piglets, becoming hostile to everything with a pulse) and in ahaliim (when stags are in rut and begin fighting each other).
Temekur’s Oak - The tallest stretching oak-tree in the Storm’s territory that hosts a permanent owl’s nest. Generation after generation of owl has been raised in and buried around that tree all stemming from the first, very intelligent owl to scamper from its branches. Said to be the home of Temekur, the owl who saved the Stormborn from a truly terrible famine and the place where the fallen owl was buried and made a god. The Stormborn occasionally leave offerings of prey at the base of the tree that the owls have come to accept, and the hunters are all taught a special tune to use in dahiim that signals to the owls that their cat friends need their help once more.
The Prisoner’s Barracks - An open clearing in Stormborn territory that brushes against firmly packed and dense soil guarded very heavily by the thickest thorns and brambles the forest has to offer. It’s a well-defended and hard to access place - which of course is exactly why the Storms have turned it into a prison. Proponents of mercy and firmly against executions, the Stormborn are the only faction to regularly keep prisoners enclosed within their territory and are the only faction period to have a set of regulations dedicated to managing them. Even those who’ve been imprisoned in the barracks don’t know where it is in Stormborn territory as they are usually blindfolded in some way when they’re led out. To the outside, it appears to be the average tangle of plants, brackens and vines.
Treesoul’s Ravine - A sloped valley sort of area surrounded by some of the strongest, healthiest looking trees in the forest that opens out into a little meadow type area. The largest stream in Stormborn territory runs through the Ravine, creating a little pond against a hilly-edge; the area littered with brilliant green brush and a variety of berries. Treesoul’s Ravine is the most popular burial location for the Stormborn, a vast majority of the faction have requests to specifically be buried in special locations of the Ravine. A series of totems line the Ravine - one made to honor each of the Souls where Storms can leave offerings of flowers, prey-bones and even trophies for the Souls to judge.
PREY, PREDATORS AND HERBS
Common Prey - Gray squirrel, cottontails, deer mouse, red squirrel, chipmunk, woodrats, mourning dove, chickadee, bluejay, robin, sparrow, wrens, waxwings
Uncommon - wild turkey, opossums, porcupine, pine vole, common garter, cormorant, tern, sandpipers, wood frog, minnow
Rare - White-Tail yearlings, trout, carp
Forbidden - Cardinals
-
Common Herbs -
Uncommon Herbs -
Rare Herbs -
-
Minor Dangers - Striped skunk
Medium Dangers - Short-Tailed Weasel, copperheads
Severe Dangers - Black bears, wild boar, White-Tailed Stag, Blackwhips, Timber Rattlesnake
---
BATTLE TACTICS
Contrary to what many will say, they don’t love battle nor are they battle-hungry, their warnings and cautions are just that - warnings though the other factions have been known to take them as challenges.
The Stormborn prefer to end battles as quickly as possible, minimizing the amount of suffering either side goes through and as such, typically target who they deem to be battle-leaders and second in commands. Demoralizing the enemy is plays along well with this trait of theirs - a signature tactic of theirs are Brush Rushes. The thick, dense brush of their territory can safely hide even the largest of their legionaries well enough that a patrol of Stormborn cats can follow invaders for hours without the invaders themselves noticing.
Naturally this has been worked into a battle advantage. When the Stormborn feel that a patrol has overstayed their welcome, they rush from the bushes and attack hard and fast with the goal of disorienting their enemy before retreating as quickly as they arrived. The break in attack is an offering - telling the enemy to return to where they came from. If this offerring is not respected, they will be rushed again - this time with the intent of dealing painful, lasting injuries. The rushes will continue until the enemy retreats or until the Storms declare an outright battle and summon reinforcements.
Recognizable Tactics:
Tail Tucking - The Stormborn have sharp, painful barbed quills lining their hindquarters and tails. When an enemy attempts to attack them from behind, they tuck the soft underside of their tails to their bellies and bristle their spines; impaling those who would attempt an ambush
Land Grapple - It’s rare that someone wants to keep their enemy close-by hence this being a very recognizable Stormborn tactic. Grasping the opponent by their shoulders either from above or below, hold tight; forcing them to either rip their fur free or stay for a pummeling. They will snap at their enemy’s face and ears while using their hindlegs to shred them. The enemy is only released when they express surrender.
CULTURAL VALUES
> The Maternal Bond should always be respected and harshly punished if ever abused
> There is incredible bravery in honesty - a legionary should always be confident in their actions; regardless of the consequences
> Though there are four factions, there is only one Empire and when one is in need; the other three should be honor-bound to assist
HOLIDAYS
The Last Snow -
QUIRKS
A legionary having relations within another faction will say they’re ‘patrolling’ as a way of being discreet about their relationship. It’s more noticeable if the reasoning is claimed after high-sun, when the Storms are mostly at rest
Though barracks tasks are common punishments for misbehaving cubs, any of them can be picked up by anyone. Cubs who take a liking to a specific task are encouraged to keep at it.
Temekur’s Oak has a series of increasingly higher notches from cadets challenging each other to climb. Legionaries will brag moons after promotions about taking the highest marks
The Stormborn tend to come out during rainstorms to let a few drops of water hit them. It’s said that you can receive omens from the blurry vision granted when rain hits your face
The Storms are the closest to omnivorous as you get in the Empire, it’s not uncommon to catch them snacking on berries of all sorts throughout the day; preserving prey for actual meals

Magnolia Catz - A Texture Journey
Tumblr media
My experiments with creating “realistic” fur textures for Petz.
Tumblr media
There’s just something classic about an orange and white tabby.
Tumblr media
Out of a happy accident this silver tabby came out with some interesting colors. There’s a little bit of blue and cream mixed in there that gives it some personality.
Tumblr media
I think mackerel tabbies are cute!  It might be hard to see from the pictures but I paintballed a thin dark stripe along its back and tail for that extra touch of realism.
Tumblr media
Tortoiseshells/Calicos are another favorite of mine.  This one took a good bit of experimenting.  Every texture I tried showed up in the game looking too orange, too brown, too black, too dark, too light, etc.
Tumblr media
This one had 5 textures for different parts of the body.  If you look at a real bengal, the spots transition to stripes at certain parts of the body.  I know the coloring is not perfectly like a real bengal’s, but the petz palette was giving me a lot of grief :(
Tumblr media
Couldn’t resist sharing this gif of Artemis being cute.
Tumblr media
This one sorta teeters on the edge of a “fantasy” fur because it’s slightly purple.  Nonetheless there are “lilac” cats that sort of have that mauve, rosy grey hue to them.
I had a lot of fun creating these textures.  It was a little addicting!  As I was making each one, I kept tweaking things and one happy accident lead to another.  There’s too many to share - here’s some of my favorites that I hope to use for future hexes!  So many ideas - so little time.  Until next time!

I’ve seen mention of a ‘wildcard’ pattern on here, but I don’t actually know what that means, what do wildcard cats look like?
Also, were anonymous asks turned off or is my app just broken 💀
Wildcards are tortoiseshell cats that don't follow our standard rules for tortie patch colours and patterns! I'm going to copy-paste the explanation our wonderful coder Key gave for tortoiseshell coding, she explains it very well <3
REGULAR TORTIE RULES: Cats with a base-pattern of singlestripe, smoke, or single can now have patches with single, smoke, agouti, and ticked, in addition to the previously possible tabby, mackerel, and classic. There is now a small chance for the single-patterned patches to appear with any base-pattern. Tortie cats with a base-color of WHITE will be given PALEGREY or SILVER instead. If a cat's base color is in the black or white group, the patches can be any color in the ginger or brown group. However, the ginger group is more likely. If a cat's base color is in the ginger group, the patches can be any color in the black or brown group. However, the black group is more likely. If a cat's base color is in the brown group, the patches can be any color in the brown, black, or ginger group. However, the color of the patches can not be the same as the base color. Colors in the ginger group are more likely. WILDCARD TORTIE RULES: For fun, there is a very small chance for the color and pattern of the tortie patches to be determined randomly, without regard to the rules listed above. (hope all y'all "rare cat" hunters have fun hunting for the most rare(tm) cat in Clangen - the male wildcard tortie)
As for your second question, your app isn't bugging out, don't worry! They're turned off for the moment, at least temporarily, as we were experiencing an uptick in some.. rude messages. Sorry for the trouble, I know I personally highly prefer using anon when asking stuff so I get that it isn't very ideal </3

Oh, i'm delighted to borrow you my ask game, i hope you get to show off your ideas genetics!
In fact, i'll to ask you something right now, let's say... Frostfur? Oh, and if you don't mind, Bluestar and Oakheart (and their families, if you want to), too!
thanks for the ask! I'm going to only cover Frostfur because her family tree is MASSIVE, but I may come back to Bluestar and Oakheart :)
also putting it all under a cut.
*rubs hands* oh boy,
Frostfur's a tricky one because she's a classic case of a solid white cat being born to non-white parents. I've done the closest I can manage, which is giving each parent a little white spotting and making her a colourpoint.
But speaking of these parents, I have a fun little trick I like to use: if one or both parents of a cat are unknown, I'm allowed to make one of them a purebred. This helped me out a lot for Robinwing (Frostfur's mother), who is described as a brown cat with a ginger patch on her chest. In theory, this is a tortoiseshell, but in practice the amount of white shed need for a big patch like that would ruin her recognizability as a robin. So, I have her down as a Somali mix! She does still need to be a tortie & white though, so she's a ticked tortoiseshell tabby & white with a lot of ruffousing (is that the right term? I always forget it).
Frostfur's father, Fuzzypelt, is easier but not without some tweaks for his decendents. For one, I have him down as a Cornish Rex mix, because I thought it was only fitting a cat with the fuzzy- prefix have a rex coat. Originally a black solid, he's now a black smoke with white, both for Frostfur's sake.
Going back to Frostfur (and skipping her siblings because Frostfur on her own is already a nuke on this poor family tree), she's now a silver tricolour tabby point. Most of these traits are handy tools that will help us later.
Her mate, Lionheart, is a "golden tabby," but I have him down as fawn. It would've made more sense as cream, but I needed to pick between tortie Cinderpelt and tortie Brightheart, and the latter already needed to be a tortie anyways. Lionheart is now a longhair fawn and white (I honestly cannot picture him as a tabby. If I had to, he would be a ticked tabby.) He's also a Scottish Fold mix due to my Smallear headcanons!
Frostfur's first kit is Brackenfur, who is a cinnamon mackerel tabby and white. Mostly self explanatory, as he's "golden brown," but he gets white from his mother, who has 2 white spotting genes. His mate, Sorreltail, is a longhair blue tortoiseshell smoke.
Their first kit, Cinderheart (who takes after her grandma and is also a nuke on the family tree) is a longhair blue tortoiseshell tabby & white. She's a tortie for the sake of her sons and has white for the sake of her blue eyes (I don't super understand the dominant blue eye gene yet, so I just gave every blue eyed cat some white). Her mate, Lionblaze, is a longhair red classic tabby, pretty self-explanatory.
Their first kit is Fernsong, a longhair cream mackerel tabby. His mate is Ivypool, a silver tabby point & white, and their kits are Bristlefrost, a longhair blue silver mackerel tabby tortoiseshell and white (what a mouthful!), Flipclaw, a cinnamon classic tabby, and Thriftear, a tortoiseshell. I could've made Fernsong fawn to make his daughters more canon-accurate, but tortie Bristlefrost my beloved.
Going back up to Cinderheart, her daughter Flywhisker is a longhair blue mackerel tortoiseshell tabby. (All of the CinderLion kits must be longhaired, due to both their parents being such. Small price to pay for Cinder's mane) Hollytuft is a longhair tortoiseshell, Snaptooth is a longhair red classic tabby & white (just to make him a little distinct from his father), Sorrelstripe is a longhair black mackerel tortoiseshell tabby & white, and Spotfur is a longhair blue mackerel tortoiseshell tabby & white. I would've loved to make Spotty here a spotted tabby, but that would take so many tweaks that just aren't worth it. Her spots are now her tortie markings.
Going back up to Brackenfur, his daughter Honeyfern is a cinnamon ticked tortoiseshell tabby & white. Lilyheart is a blue mackerel tabby and white (a she-cat who didn't need to be hit with the tortie beam?!), Molepaw is a silver classic tabby & white (to explain him being gray and black), Poppyfrost is a cinnamon tricolour, and Seedpaw is a cinnamon and white.
Going back to Poppyfrost, her mate, Berrynose, is a longhair fawn & white. (I've actually made Daisy fawn, because cream Berrynose was the only one that required her to be red anyways.) Their kits are Cherryfall, a cinnamon tortoiseshell and white, and Molewhisker, seal mink and white. He's mink to explain how he's brown and cream.
Going all the way back up to Frostfur, we can now do Brightheart, who is a cinnamon tricolour. She needed to be a tortie anyways, and I've always loved her design in the Girl Like Her MAP, so I likely would've made her one anyways. Her mate is Cloudtail, a longhair white solid (who I also headcanon as a siberian mix, because he has a kittypet father anyways and I love love love siberians). He's masking a red or cream silver classic tabby & white.
Ambermoon, their only kit to not have kits, is a red classic tabby & white. Dewnose, her brother, is a longhair blue & white. Unfortunately, his mate is Sorrelstripe, who we've already covered (fun fact: for a while the wiki stated that he was her mate, but was never stated to be her kits father. I wish that were still true). Their kits are Bayshine, a longhair red classic tabby bicolour, and Myrtlebloom, a longhair fawn solid.
Unfortunately again, Bayshine's mate is Thriftear. So far, their only known kit is Moonpaw, who in canon is a longhair tortoiseshell and the author's misunderstanding of a chimera. I've taken the liberties to make her a longhair cream classic tabby & white/tortoiseshell & white chimera.
Going back to Brightheart, her next kit is Snowbush, a longhair white solid like his father. He's masking a red tabby & white (I don't list traits that are masked unless needed, so his tabby type could be anything). His mate is Lilyheart.
Their kits are Honeyfur, a dilute tricolour (and one of the only cats I allowed myself to make a cryptic tortie, hence why I don't specify what kind of dilute), Larksong, a black solid, and Leafshade, a tortoiseshell.
Larksong's mate is Sparkpelt, a longhair cinnamon tortoiseshell mackerel tabby. Their kits are Finchlight, a tortoiseshell, Flickerkit, also a tortoiseshell (and XXY intersex now), and Nightheart, a longhair black solid.
Back up once again to Brightheart, her final kit is Whitewing, a white solid. She's masking silver (didn't list if tabby or not) tortoiseshell & white. Her mate is Birchfall, a fawn spotted tabby. Their kits are Dovewing, a longhair blue smoke and white (I love smoke Dovewing nobody can take it from me. White for the sake of my heterochromia headcanons), and Ivypool, who I'm realizing I already covered. See why I called Frostfur a nuke?
Dovewing's mate is Tigerstar the second, who is a cinnamon mackerel tabby & white. I like to make him and Bramblestar not black to make them distinct from Tigerstar the first. He has white for fun :)
Their kits are Birchpaw, a fawn solid, Lightleap, a black mackerel tabby, Pouncestep, a blue mackerel tabby, Rowankit, a cinnamon mackerel tabby & white (white because it felt weird that nobody was getting any), and Shadowsight. I have very specific headcanons for Shadowsight; he's a chimera between a longhair smoke with ghost mackerel tabby markings and a red-eyed albino. When I eventually draw him, I plan on giving him a white "mask" over his eyes.
Finally, we can move onto Frostfur's third kit, who mercifully has no children of her own. Cinderpelt is a longhair smoke and white. Moonkitti's design for her has permanently altered my perception of her, and while I do have her as black (she needs to be dark.), I can't not give her her lighter mane.
Finally, the final FrostFour kit is Thornclaw, a cream mackerel tabby & white. His mate is Blossomfall, a longhair tortoiseshell and white. Their kits are Eaglewing, a red ticked tabby, Plumstone, a tortoiseshell, Shellfur, a longhair tortoiseshell & white (who I also have marked down as XXY, but you could also make him trans if you'd like), and Stemleaf, a red mackerel tabby bicolour.
Stemleaf requires us to bring back Spotfur (sigh.) for their kits; Bristlepaw, a longhair red mackerel tabby bicolour, Graypaw, a longhair blue bicolour, and Stempaw, a red mackerel tabby & white.
And finally, we're done. Whew.

Out of curiosity, what is the closest irl equivalent to my domestic feline-esq ocs? (Literally none of the refs were done by me oops- I mostly designed my reptiles and humanoids lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i’d say: black ghost mackerel tabby, seal point with low white spotting, red silver mackerel tabby with moderate white spotting, chocolate sepia, black with low white spotting, dilute black (blue) tortoiseshell, solid black, black smoke, and a dilute red (cream) mackerel tabby with low white spotting
