I've got some folks curious about my custom Blades in the Dark setting.
The Gods were content to wait out the apocalypse in their city of Ess, leaving humanity to perish. Humanity though overthrew them, and took the city for themselves. Now the world outside is ended.
Or so the story goes. The crew - a group of smugglers of varying levels of monstrous and cosmic significance - are discovering that history is not as it's told.
The city is always digging downward while making new material at its top. It shifts and changes - forming new streets and buildings. And from below the earth there are the Dreg - aberrant beings with the memories of the lost and murdered.
It's a sort of low-tech sci-fi. Advanced technology (both man-made and "harvested" from the living city) exists alongside the medieval. Plasma weapons and genetic splicing alongside goat-drawn carts and oil lamps.
The crew is up against a clown-themed mafia, memory-cults, the city's ancient programs, and beings calling themselves gods. It's been a blast and the players have really brought this setting to life with their roleplay and their investment.  There's also a giant hermit crab wearing a convenience store / Cosmic Prison as a shell.
Worth noting, for people that know Blades in the Dark, mechanically this is all done with Vanilla Blades. Some of the more supernatural abilities have some different narrative ramifications. But we've done all this without changing the rules. Core Blades in the Dark has a baked in setting, but not only is that setting highly flexible, it's not hard at all to replace it with your own setting.

Last night’s Blades session went really well I thought. Is it really a productive downtime session without a narrowly thwarted kidnapping attempt resulting in two characters trauma’d out at the bottom of the world?
The rest of the crew came after us and now we’re all stuck. The gang goes to Hell

Another sketch dump, this time Lizzy as I play her in my Tuesday blades in the dark game. She’s big time cursed and not about to let any of her crewmates even know about it until it’s too late! Girl please talk to someone
She got a new coat recently. It’s still brown

Finally drew my Tuesday Blades crew! This is for the game run by @bfleuter in his custom setting. It’s been awesome so far and I look forward to exploring the world and character relationships more every time! Even if Lizzy is difficult. Left to right, Lizzy (mine), Taro, Lawrence, Rook, and Highfever the Maneater. Plus one cat and the Slap Ghost, who has since been evicted from our lair

This piece legitimately makes me emotional. It was the final shot off the campaign.

Well I’ve never heard of them
The year-long Blades in the Dark campaign @bfleuter ran just ended a couple nights ago, and oh man. I am exactly as emotional about it as I knew I would be.
We won the day, pack of rotten bastards that most of us are, and no one even knew. But the city remembered. Ben did a nice writeup of each character’s epilogue here.

Some more Blades stuff, feat. Liz’s fucked up resident evil villain family. She’s the spitting image of her grandma, which is all according to plan
