About the Blog & FAQ

What is this place? Hello, there! @HanLeiaCelebration was founded to bring Han/Leia fanfic writers together to share fanfiction (with drawings, edits, and/or fan-mixes welcome as supplemental materials). In addition to several years of Holiday Fic Exchanges, we have done a few prompt-a-thons and host HanLeia Appreciation Week. We are open to adding additional, non-exchange based challenges if there is a demand for that. 

Our mission is to give Han/Leia fans the opportunity to create Han/Leia content, explore and develop their own writing abilities, and connect with each other in a supportive, inclusive, and positive way. 

Why is it called HanLeia Celebration? We were founded as HanLeia Secret Santa, named after the holiday fic exchanges that were how we got started. One year, we got some great feedback from participants who wished our blog and our exchange were a bit more inclusive in their name, since not everyone celebrates that big December holiday involving Santa. We thought that was a great idea, and that Leia Organa would definitely approve. Picking “Celebration” was about both celebrating the creativity of our participants as well as celebrating Han and Leia. Plus, the name fits really well if we ever want to celebrate Han and Leia with an event another time of the year.

Are there any specific guidelines that apply to all challenges? Yes! They are:

500 word minimums apply to all challenges.

While we suggest 5,000 words as a max, no one is going to hold you to that. We’ve had wonderful submissions that exceed that. Please be mindful, however, that if you’re writing for a recipient, long fics can be a major time commitment and even a challenge to read (especially since English is not the first language of all participants).

Please tag your works appropriately so that readers can choose to view it or not depending on their comfort with the content (NSFW, specific kinks, specific pairings that might be featured, violence, character death, etc.).

For exchanges, we’re now using Archive of Our Own. Signups, assignments, and submissions will all go through AO3. Please do not post your fic on your blog or on other sites until after author reveals have been done. (But after reveals have been done, please post to your heart’s content, and @ us when you post so we can help share the love!)

For any challenges done on Tumblr only, please put tagged content under a cut. 

If you think you may have trouble meeting the exchange or challenge deadline, please contact us ASAP. While we want everyone to be on time, we know life happens and will do our best to work with you. The sooner we know, the sooner we can help out. For an exchange, that might mean getting you a beta reader or a cheerleader or an extension, or letting you off the hook and getting a pinch hitter for your fic. This is supposed to be fun, not stressful, and we’re here to help. (Individual questions about your personal situation will always be answered privately.)

Please be respectful of other people’s works. Due to the nature of fanworks and our mission to promote inclusive fandom participation, only positive comments on works will be accepted. Authors who receive negative comments on their works for challenges are encouraged to delete or hide them, though they are not required to do so. Participants who leave negative comments on others’ works, or who personally attack or use hateful language towards other participants, may be asked to leave a challenge and/or be barred from future events.

We are an inclusive blog. This means racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, ableism, and other ugly isms will not be tolerated. We do not anticipate this being a problem, as it never has been in the past, but we do want to set clear expectations up front. 

Do I need to be on Tumblr or on Archive of Our Own to participate? Yes, you do need a Tumblr account to participate in our challenges. You don’t need to use your Tumblr for anything except answering your Exchange Writer’s Anon Messages to you or tagging us in your work, however. You can blissfully ignore your account in all other ways. Tumblr accounts are free - won’t you please join us?

For exchanges, you’ll need an Archive of Our Own account to participate. Those are free, too – if you need help, let us know and we can walk you through getting set up.

English is my second or third language; I’m not 100% perfect at it. Can I still participate in an event? Yes! We want people from all over the world to be welcome to participate, and we have had multilingual participants of varying degrees of comfort with English in the past. You won’t be alone! If you want someone to preview your work before posting for grammar, spelling, and/or word usage, we can usually find someone to beta-read for you. Just give the mods advance notice and finish up a little bit early. We are also all learning and growing together as writers, and we are impressed at your doing a challenge in another language. Welcome, welcome!

I’ve never written anything before. I’d like to try, but I’m not sure how well it would turn out. Can I still participate in an event? Please do! We love new writers. This is a great opportunity for you to try out fanfic writing with people who will cheer you on. Some people only write for the exchanges or challenges; others write year round. In our experience, there is an audience for everything. Again, we are all constantly growing together as writers, and everyone has to start somewhere. We would be so excited if you chose to start with us.  

What tag should I use when posting about the @HanLeiaCelebration Blog activities? #hanleiacelebration with no spaces. It’s clean and easy for everyone to use. 

Do you do Carrison exchanges or challenges? We do not—our focus for this blog and all our challenges are the fictional characters Han and Leia as well as the other inhabitants of the Galaxy Far, Far Away, rather than the real people who play them. There have been other Carrison events on Tumblr, however, and if that’s your jam, we encourage you to check them out or make your own exchange. Our mod @hanorganaas may be able to more specifically direct you to related events or Carrison-centric blogs. 

I don’t mean to engage in “ugly isms”, but it’s so hard to be up on everything I need to know about being “PC” these days! If I make a mistake, will I be kicked out? We prefer the term being respectful to being PC, as showing all people respect is all we’re asking. We all make mistakes and are all still learning. Please, if you’re a person of respect and good faith, don’t worry too much about it. Just do your best, and be open to constructive feedback. We much prefer to provide that constructive feedback rather than kick anyone out. The guideline on this is about clearly flagrant and intentional violations of respect, and/or ongoing violations after attempts at correction. Again, this has really not been a problem, so we do not anticipate it becoming one- but we do want to set clear expectations upfront so there are no surprises down the road.

And please, if the mods mess up- let us know so we can correct ourselves. 

Where else can I get my fix of Han/Leia fic?@hanleiaarchive does its best to compile as many HanLeia fics as they can (and is always taking recommendations).

While #scoundressaturdays and #hanleiachallenge are no longer actively running challenges, these two tags on Tumblr are another good place to find HanLeia fics. Or check out the fics from previous challenges that we’ve reblogged.

I have a question, but I feel like I must be stupid not to understand and/or I worry about bothering the mods. Han/Leia fans aren’t stupid! We mods are unclear a lot of the time. And we exist for the purpose of helping. Please don’t deprive us of your participation because we weren’t clear, or because you’re worried about bothering the very people who volunteered to help you. Ask, ask, ask! We love to be bothered—it makes us feel important!

I will attempt to keep a basic structure to my reviews but I cannot always promise they'll be well-written, eloquent essays.

Regarding Writing

Above everything, I want to clarify that any content written by me is in no way, shape, or form meant to represent the idols in real life.

On the same note, some pieces may contain upsetting topics for some readers. With that in mind, all content written by me will be accordingly tagged. Regardless, reader's discretion is advised to avoid it accordingly.

Soft Limits: I may or may not write cnc, watersports, yandere, bloodplay, and other hardkinks depending on the case.

Hard Limits: I will NOT, under any circumstance, write incest, rape, bestiality, pedophilia, (any instance of abuse of a vulnerable individual really), explicit gore. I reserve myself the right to refuse any other topic I may find upsetting.

Regarding Interactions

Blank Blogs who follow me will be blocked if not proven to be an actual human.

Minors (under 18) and ageless blogs who follow me will be blocked.

I reserve myself the right to block people who are rude / disrespectful towards me, people who interact with me, or people I follow.

Blog FAQ

How do I know if requests are open?

Whenever I open or close requests, I make sure to update my blog header, the description under my header, and the message that shows when people go into my ask box. If they say the requests are open, they’re open. If it says they’re closed, they’re closed. It’s that simple.

Please make sure you do not send in a request when they are closed. Any requests sent when requests are closed will be deleted and you will need to wait until they are open before you may make the request again.

What fandoms do you write?

Mostly Twist for this blog, however there is a possibility I'd post content on another character or two when the mood strikes me.

Do you answer requests in the order that you get them?

Nope, never have and never will. It’s really hard to write for something that you can’t bring forth the imagination for. So when the mood hits me it will be answered.

Is there anything you won’t write?

The only big no-no’s I can think of are pedophilia, incest, and bestiality. There might be more but, as of right now, I can’t think of any. And, as far as kinks go, it takes a lot to gross me out so I’m willing to write for some kinks that are out there even if it’s not my personal kink.

Do you only write reader inserts?

For the most part, I just write reader-insert. It’s what I prefer. I have done a couple canon character x canon character requests before so it’s not a flat-out no but I definitely prefer writing reader-inserts and am much more comfortable writing them.

Can I submit my art/stories to this blog?

Absolutely!

That’s an excellent question!

Generally, we try to give our employees personal space, but! If you end up wanting a roommate who doesn’t work for me or owe me their soul in some way, you can file form HWB 1829 to have them vetted. I have to be careful about not invoking the ire of other Overlords or housing industrial spies, you understand.

If your potential roommate already works for me or owes me their soul, then it’s a simple matter of notifying the Housing office that you both want to share accommodations.

And, if you have a romantic or sexual interest in your roommate, HWB 1830 will enroll them in select benefits based on relationship duration. No need to get married for health benefits; dating will accomplish that!

What is 100 Baby Warehouse?

It is exactly what it sounds like - it's a collection of sims that were the results of 100 baby challenges. In other words, this is a warehouse of sorts, and the only thing stocked here are sims. If you are looking for a spouse for your legacy, and you know exactly the kind of sims your heir likes, you may be able to find exactly what you're looking for here - if you're looking for a family-motivated male young adult, browse our selection to see if there's someone who fits your parameters. If your NSB rose gen needs some cute sims to woo, you can find those here!

Are there only "The Sims 4" sims here?

Absolutely not! You can play a 100 baby challenge in almost every sims game - I'm not sure about The Sims 1, but I know for a fact you can in 2 and 3. So, in our navigation page there will also be sections for sims strictly in TS2 and TS3.

I'm playing a 100 Baby Challenge right now. Can I submit a sim?

Yes!! Please! This blog will be EMPTY if no one submits sims, because I simply cannot play that many 100 baby challenges at once. I'm playing 2 right now, and that's hard enough.

Will you have sims for download if no one submits any?

Well, yes. But not very many, and not a good variety. There will be no TS3 or TS2 sims if no one submits any, because I don't currently have either installed. So please, if you have sims you want to share, please do!

Can I just make a post and tag you so you can reblog it, instead of submitting my sims?

That's perfectly fine too! I just have the submission page to make things easier on everyone, but if you want to make the post yourself and tag me, that works just as well. Just add @100babywarehouse anywhere on your post, and I'll see it and add it to the sim collection.

I don't play 100 baby challenge, but I want to submit a legacy spare. Is that okay?

While this is called 100 Baby Warehouse, this is also fine. I will have a specific category for legacy spares on the navigation pages, because I know that most people play legacies more than 100 baby challenges (including myself). Otherwise, this blog might be rather empty, and I don't want that! Either way, as long as the sim would normally be kicked out of the main house and forgotten, left to the whims of story progression, the sim is welcome in this collection.

If this is the 100 baby warehouse, does that mean there are only babies/infants, toddlers, and children here?

No! Definitely not! Sims of any age can be added to our "inventory." Even adults and elders. So if you want several teens for the teen angst story you are wanting to write, have a look around our teen category.

This is officially a "warehouse," as some may call it, but I think of it as an adoption center of sorts.

Here, you will find sims that have been forgotten, or abandoned, and left to the whims of fate (or story progression). Specifically, these sims were used strictly as stepping stones in a 100 Baby Challenge - in this challenge, the children are simply a means to an end, unless their challenge is done using the multiple matriarch rules, in which case the only child that matters is the final daughter of each matriarch.

And that's just unbearably sad to me.

All of these wonderful sims have such potential, they could have whole futures ahead of them, but they are denied that simply because that's how the challenge works. They are kicked out the instant they are no longer teenagers.

So here, we have a collection of many of these wonderful sims that Watchers in need may take in and care for, themselves. These sims can have any life they may dream of - or, well... have nightmares about.
