Time for the third part to the Futo mini-takeover! It's Casino time! This is one of those Casino Cover that end up sounding just a teeny bit sinister for some reason. I don't think I like it as much as my Village Cover of this theme, but it's not bad. What do you think would happen if Futo were to suddenly just appear in a modern casino lol

lol I'm sorry I'm making a bit of fun. (relax, I drew bluekenzie art, of course I'm on his side) Yes, while that is a point in Mackenzie's favor, I don't think it's very concrete in saying that's definitely Mackenzie's kid, because let's not forget all of puppy's features including the bent ear, are found in Bluey's family.

Stripe has a bent ear. All of puppy's colors including the "lavender" color everyone is so keen to call Jean Luc's color I personally don't buy because that is Bluey's shade of dark spots and can also be found in Stripe and Nana/Bluey's patrenal side of the family. All of Puppy's color shades favor the blue heelers.

Do I still think it's Mackenzie's--well optimistically yes. Not just cuz puppy does look like it can be a fluffy border heeler mix, but narratively as well as character wise I think Bluey and Mackenzie are better and more realistically suited (and suspiciously they played Barky Boats right after airing Surprise! But I can take that with a grain of salt)

But for real for real, I think Puppy's features are way too ambiguous and generically blue heeler to draw any actual conclusions unless we get confirmation from the creators themselves--which I highly doubt we'll ever get anthing. And that's fine, cuz you can have your own headcanons about it however you want and that's great.

My hot take is that I don't think something can be "overrated."

"Overrated" is just the word people use when they don't like something that is popular. And that's... fine? It's okay if they don't get the appeal. It just means it isn't for them.

But like... who fucking cares? It's popular because a lot of people do like it. What's wrong with that?

It's not even about quality, either. I don't know much about Supernatural, but I do know that it wasn't the most high quality show in the world. Neither was BBC's Merlin. The writing was kinda shitty, they queerbaited their audience for years, and then killed off one of the main characters right at the end.

And both of those have huge fanbases on here. But I wouldn't call either of those things overrated even if I actively disliked them, because obviously, a lot of people would disagree with me!

When people say something is overrated, it just feels like they're trying really hard to be different. Like they're standing there pointing and laughing at others just so no one mistakes them for one of those people, the "annoying" fans, because god forbid anyone actually get excited about their interests.

Like "Oh look at them, they find genuine enjoyment in a piece of media! They're having fun and hurting absolutely no one in the process! What a bunch of cringy losers."

If you don't like it, block the tag, unfollow people, and move on. It's really not that complicated.

There's so many mean bluey critical people on here. Like they'll just go "why are you as a person in your 20s watching cartoons for kids? That's super sus of you" like what do you think about the adults making the cartoons if that's your thought process on it. Like obviously there are some people who take it too far and yell at kids about it, but that's not exclusive to bluey fans and you're saying nobody over the age of 15 should even be looking at the show. Why do you have to be mad about bluey specifically when it comes to this

I think it’s fair to express your opinion about disliking a work of fiction or criticising said story or any trends in fandom behaviours. But not gonna lie, I kind of hate it when people make fun of people and point to them being less “intelligent” or “literate” or whatever for the crime of… having “bad” tastes and being annoying on the being annoying website.

Time for the forth part to the Yukari Takeover! I was SO excited to see that this theme didn't get prematurely cut off because I REALLY wanted to make a Space Cover of this! This came out surprisingly joyous sounding and I LOVE it!!! This feels magical in the childlike sort of way if that makes sense. Like there's sparkling effects happening everywhere and you can't help but look in awe

ABC's got a poll for top 5 Bluey episodes up right now so I figured I'd share my picks. I spent like 20 minutes kinda feeling out which episodes to pick so just know there's so many other episodes I would've included! I tried to balance it between actual technical brilliance (story structure, set design, score, etc.) and my own sentimentality.

1. Space

(Probably a biased 1st pick because my current main writing project is about Mackenzie, Rusty, and Jack, so I'm using this episode to base a lot of their interplay as a group)

The thing I love most about Space is how realistic it is in terms of the "solution" presented. Mackenzie has to face his memories, even if they're scary and he can't remember them. But then when he's done it, he's got his friends to help pull him back into the present. And it doesn't "fix" him or anything like that—he still looks back at the black hole—but he's able to live in the present. And that's what matters.

2. Sleepytime

(I am also kinda a contrarian and Sleepytime always gets mentioned as the best episode. I was tempted to cut Sleepytime from the list entirely to spotlight other episodes but I kept adding it back in due to its technical brilliance)

What else is there really to say about this one that hasn't been said? Sleepytime hits every technical benchmark and delivers a very important message; that your parents are always there for you. And for the parents who watch Bluey with their kids, that their efforts are felt and their kids love them too.

3. Army

(This one has almost the opposite problem of Sleepytime where I would've probably cut it for more technically impressive episodes but I kept it in for sentimentality)

It's the ADHD doggo! It's me, on screen!!! It's about 2/3 of the characters of my favorite dynamic. Its message of just needing to find what you're good at rather than being sad about where you fall short always lands.

4. Camping

I feel your favorite Bluey episodes can probably say a lot about your current emotional state. For example if I had factored my current life situation into my picks more, Barky Boats and Grandad would've probably made the list. For now Camping will represent the episodes about learning to live with the passage of time and the changing nature of relationships. This episode also gets credit for being the first full episode I watched on TikTok ages ago (not counting a 10 second clip of Sleepytime) that got me to check this cute doggo show out in the first place!

5. Rain

This is my plea to Ludo to please do at least 1 more music-centric episode. I know you guys wanna do it for symmetry's sake to complete an eventual 3rd Bluey album—since the first 2 albums got The Creek and Rain as their marquee songs respectively. Rain would've probably lost out to other episodes if not for just the uniqueness of an episode with no dialogue still managing to deliver a message with nuance.

my year 6’s requested a bluey episode and when i was not able to provide them with that, they instead put on a ms mojo top ten bluey episodes compilation which they quietly enjoyed almost the whole way through. truly, the magic of bluey.
