Sticky Rice, Grand Central Market, 317 S Broadway, Ste C4, Los Angeles (Downtown), CA 90013

Sticky Rice has a few locations, including one in Highland Park that only serves dinner. They’ve been serving up Thai street food in LA since 2013. The Grand Central Market location offers Thai BBQ chicken, noodles, stir fries, fried rice, curries, soups, and Thai iced tea. Mango sticky rice is offered when mangos are in season. Protein choices: chicken, beef, pork, tofu, shrimp.

Thai omelette/ kai jeow ($13) with your choice of meat or tofu: I’ve never seen this on a menu and I wasn’t sure what it was, but I was intrigued. It’s fried whisked eggs cooked in hot oil with fish sauce, onions, and green onions. The eggs puff up and have crispy edges. It’s good and comforting but didn’t have much “Thai” flavor. The tofu cubes were fried and added a little chewiness. I probably should have chosen pork? The omelette was served over steamed white Jasmine rice. Lots of rice, lots of eggs – enough for two meals. It needed hot sauce.

They have a small counter with seats but if those seats are taken, there are other tables around the market. You can watch them cook from the counter.

The funny thing about post partum was when she managed to get her own confidence back. If anyone asked her when it happened, she'd say she had no idea but today she was glad she had her confident self back. And the first order of business was to wake her handsome husband up the way she knew he had missed since having kids. With the girls and their son over at his sister's, she was free to let her wild nature out. She took a peek out her bathroom door to make sure he was still asleep. She closed the door again and made sure her lipstick hadn't stained and perfected her cat eye already knowing Andy enjoyed when she'd make her green eyes pop. Satisfied with her look she took another quick glance at her outfit and let out a content sigh. The sight of the silky garment made her smirk and made her way out to the room.

A melodic song came from her even though he was the one who had the singing chops and the musical talent, she knew when she sang he'd turn to putty. He was after all asking her to sing more often. Now was a good a time as ever.

She let the silky red lace number graze through her fingers as she stalked her prey. Sometimes a little nudge was all that was needed. A gentle whisper unfurled like soft sin inside the inner shell of his ear. A smirk crossed over her features as that had him stirring. Her fingers touched his skin and that had ignited lightening to strike nearby which charged the air. Her eyes glanced down at the fine golden hairs along Andy's arm rise and noticed how heavily he was breathing. She hadn't even done anything yet and he was already putty in her hands.

Di fell sideways on the bed as she nibbled the side of his neck and rested her forehead against his. Her lips worked their way down his neck, making him gasp when she hit that spot. She couldn’t see the smile he placed against her skin, but she was damn sure it was smug. She was about to call him out on it when he applied a little suction back. After that she couldn’t remember what she’d been about to say; let alone think about chastising him for breaking the contact rule.

That was until he said it, that is. Said it in that low, sexy way that made her knees entirely useless and her brain short circuit. ❛Diana. ❜ His teeth scraped the soft spot just across her clavicle, one of her weaker spots he was well attuned to. God, if she didn't have a plan already in motion she'd have made this the catalyst for said plan. She forgot to breathe. His kisses were so damn intense they actually shut off her entire system.

Those nimble fingers of hers traced the outline of his boxers damp where the tip was pressing uncomfortably against it. Andy reduced his voice to a small whisper. He was now breathing against Diana's neck again, whose skin was a midtone complexion, dark and tempting.

As he dug his fingernails deeper into the skin, he replaced the faded scratches that sheltered the curve of her back. The burning streaks were divine in their own wretched ways.

Diana was breathing irregularly, with occasional low grunts of pleasure. He crawled down her body, unintentionally scrunching up the duvet at their feet. He planted featherlight kisses alongside gis wife's collarbone until he reached the loose strings of her lacy number. He hooked his fingers under the hem and pulled downwards. His mouth watered at the sight. He leisurely wrapped his calloused fingers around the base, leaned in, and kissed her chest. His lips were dry, the texture kindling this intense feeling of eros in Diana.

He curved his tongue and pressed it flush against the underside of her breasts. A mischievous flick over the nub and she was whining like a cur in the jarring cold. Andy circled his tongue over the underside of the other breast, right where it met in the middle. She lit up with pleasure. " please," she urged. "More."

Diana was very vocal during sex, and he loved it - loved how a simple touch or movement made her shiver and shake with pleasure, not to mention how responsive she was. She never missed a beat on praising him, purring sweet nothings in his ear or touching his back. So, naturally, as soon as he complied to the request, taking the nub into his mouth and sucking lightly. He swirled his tongue around it, obscene sounds filling the air, enveloping them completely. She brought her trembling hand down to grip his hair, tugging at a handful of strands. Andy moaned around her supple breasts eagerly like they were the last meal on earth.

Mae Malai Thai House of Noodles, 5445 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles (Thai Town), CA 90027

The former street vendor now has its own brick and mortar noodle shop. I’m guessing that Thai street food portions are small. It’s authentic and Thai-owned. The specialty is Thai boat noodle soup, one of my favorite noodle dishes.

The menu includes appetizers (egg rolls, housemade Thai sausage, pork jerky), noodles (tom yum, boat, wonton, stir-fried noodles and fried rice, drinks, and desserts. You can choose the type of noodle (thin rice, big flat, vermicelli, glass, egg) and the spice level (mild, medium, spicy, Thai spicy).

I hadn’t seen dry Thai boat noodles before, so I decided to try them.

Dry Thai boat noodle ($8.49) with pork (beef was the other option), big flat rice noodles, peanuts, bean sprouts, one pork ball, sliced pork, pork cracklings, fried ginger, and fried garlic. The price surprised me (so low) and so did the size (very small). Luckily, the flavor is explosive so a little goes a long way. It’s sweet and very spicy. The noodles are the noodles you get in chow fun. There was a bit of dark sauce on the bottom, so the dish was moist. She said there was no blood in the sauce though, so that was disappointing. I also didn’t see liver or blood cubes. There was only one pork ball. The dry boat noodle had more texture and crunch but I did miss the broth.

Thai iced coffee ($4.95): Sweet, strong, and creamy, like Vietnamese iced coffee but not quite as strong, also larger than Vietnamese iced coffee

Service was friendly. For some reason, the boat noodle only comes in a small size. If you’re hungry, you might want to order something different. The strip mall actually has plenty of parking. Mae Malai is a small restaurant with a cozy feel. A caddy with various condiments is kept at each table.

Hatyai

On the 27th to 29th December 2022, I had to bring my uncle to renew his 90 days stay in Malaysia and Hatyai is the closes to get his passport stamp.

We travelled there by van and it takes us about two hours to reach Hatyai and the border was clear.

When we reach our hotel, the first thing was to have a meal at Baan Khun Bhu but it was closed due to the extensive preparation at the kitchen and one of the kitchen staff fainted when preparing.

We had to eat in one of the local shops selling chicken rice and I must say, there's not much difference to it. haha! We walked around the market and rested until evening for Asian Bazaar. We didn't like Asian Bazaar at all as it didn't fit our tastebuds.

The next day, we had the famous boat noodle for breakfast. The wait was long and I bumped to Chiew Wen! I'm not a big fan of meat but boat noodle is really tasty and everyone actually enjoyed it!

After filling our tummy, I planned to take them to the floating market and thank God Chiew Wen told me that it's close. I would have make my way there if I didn't meet her. So we ended up at Makro, buying chips and unnecessary stuff; having famous dessert at Central Hatyai shop, After You.

Loads of my friends recommended me to give this dessert shop a try and I don't find anything fancy. But it's my auntie's first time trying shaved ice! Look at how eager of her to try it and now even looking at the camera!

We went for dinner at Somtamchaba Restaurant which was quite good! The meal was cheap too!

The next day, we had to go to Baan Khun Bhu restaurant. It's like a ritual for me to at least eat it once.

After fulfilling our tummy, it was time to travel back to Penang on the van and was grateful that the trip back was smooth!
