📣 Fated Statesers! Believe it or not, we’re already back! We kept the PA State House of Representatives blue this year, and because of that, we can make sure every vote gets counted — including more than 100,000 provisional ballots that could see Bob Casey reelected! He’s not out yet, and if you have time and energy, we could use you on the phones to cure ballots! Sarah’s in there right now! 📣
And there's still plenty of ballot curing to do elsewhere. So if you're looking to channel your anxiety, there are plenty of opportunities.

Daniel Marans at HuffPost:
The results of a hotly contested Senate race in Pennsylvania are headed to an automatic recount after neither candidate won by a large enough margin, Pennsylvania’s top elections official announced Wednesday.
The Associated Press declared Republican Dave McCormick, a former hedge fund manager, the winner over Sen. Bob Casey (D) on Nov. 7, two days after voting concluded. If officially certified, McCormick’s win would grant Republicans, who have already retaken the Senate, a 53-seat majority in the upper legislative chamber. But Casey has refused to accept the AP’s race call, citing the tens of thousands of provisional, mail-in and absentee ballots that have yet to be counted. What’s more, Pennsylvania law mandates a recount if an election is won by less than half of a percentage point. And on Wednesday, with more than 80,000 provisional, mail-in, and absentee ballots still outstanding, Pennsylvania Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt declared that the “unofficial results” mandated a recount, since McCormick’s lead is still only 0.43%. “Senator-Elect McCormick’s lead is insurmountable, which the AP made clear in calling the race,” McCormick campaign spokesperson Elizabeth Gregory said in a statement responding to the recount announcement. “A recount will be a waste of time and taxpayer money, but it is Senator Casey’s prerogative. Senator-Elect McCormick knows what it’s like to lose an election and is sure Senator Casey will eventually reach the right conclusion.”
The #PASen race is headed to a mandatory recount, since the race is within a half-percent between incumbent Democrat Bob Casey and challenging Republican Dave McCormick. McCormick is currently leading, and AP and DDHQ have called the seat a GOP gain.

Perhaps you've noticed that the US Senate race in Pennsylvania is still up in the air. The AP has called it for the GOP candidate but there are still quite a few votes not yet counted.
On Thursday, the Associated Press called the race in favor of former hedge-fund CEO Dave McCormick, who, in his second attempt at the U.S. Senate, challenged Democratic incumbent Bob Casey. Other news outlets such as NBC News, CNN, and the New York Times have yet to officially call the race. However, Casey, the three-term senator, has held off on conceding, citing the slim margin between him and McCormick as well as the number of outstanding ballots that have yet to be counted. Per the AP, Casey currently trails McCormick by 39,545 votes. [ ... ] The Casey campaign has pointed to a statement from Al Schmidt, the state’s secretary of State, who said Thursday that there are an estimated 100,000 ballots remaining to be processed. In addition to Election Day votes, the outstanding votes include provisional, military, and overseas ballots. In a Monday press release, the campaign noted that provisional ballots “broke overwhelmingly” for John Fetterman in 2022 at a larger margin than Casey currently needs to overtake McCormick. Fetterman would later go on to win his Senate seat over his Republican challenger Mehmet Oz. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday that the McCormick campaign had filed a lawsuit seeking to challenge tens of thousands of provisional ballots from Philadelphia, a traditionally blue city, as well as a request for a Republican observer for the processing of those ballots. The judge denied McCormick’s observer request, prompting his team to pull the other lawsuit which they could later refile, per WHYY. [ ... ] As the ballot counting enters a new week, Casey appears determined to hold out until the very last vote. “Our Commonwealth ran a free and fair election, and we are still waiting on the final results.  Our election officials will continue counting ballots and ensure that Pennsylvanians’ voices are heard,” Casey said Monday.
McCormick has the advantage but Casey has a decent case.

Look, goodness knows the Democratic party has problems, and there are a lot of people there I would like to see nailed to the ceiling by their extremities, but like...my senator, Bob Casey, is talking about a bill that would fight Greedflation by punishing corporations who price gouge.
Please vote. Please fucking vote.

I got through to an actual person at Bob Casey's office, and I asked whether an Israeli official calling for Gaza to be turned into Auschwitz is enough to get Casey to admit this is a genocide.
I got a nonanswer. Senator Casey monitors the situation day-by-day and uses his constituents views to shape decisions.
Every time he deigns to reply to my emails, he still insists Israel is merely defending itself. Despite protests in Philly and Harrisburg. Despite protesters blocking a bridge. So, no, I don't think he cares about his constituents' views.

Listening to my 10 hours of anarchistic chaos with melancholic screams of the damned bellowing from the underworld due to the destruction I have brought to this world only to be interrupted by an ad about rob bresnihan, Dave McCormick, or bob Casey

The most surprising Pennsylvania election result was not Trump winning..
But instead Bob Casey losing. The AP has already called the race for McCormick.. At this moment Casey has not conceded...
This would be an end to a political dynasty that began in the late 1980s in Lackawanna County..
Developing..

Daniel Marans at HuffPost:
LANGHORNE, Pa. — In a hotel conference room a little over 20 miles northeast of the Philadelphia venue where the two major parties’ presidential nominees were set to debate hours later, a conservative group was preparing to rally its supporters Tuesday morning behind a Republican candidate locked in a tight battle for Pennsylvania votes. No, the candidate w,as not former President Donald Trump. Americans for Prosperity Action, or AFP Action — a libertarian-leaning conservative group funded by the Koch network of conservative donors — and its Latino outreach arm, Libre Action, were instead holding a canvass kickoff event for Dave McCormick, a former hedge fund manager and Gulf War veteran engaged an uphill battle to unseat U.S. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.). “We’re fighting for our American dream — the American dream that is slipping away from us,” Jennie Dallas, the Harrisburg-based strategic director of the affiliated Libre Initiative, told the multiracial crowd of staff members and paid canvassers clad in light blue organizers T-shirts. “And we know that David McCormick knows that.”
AFP Action’s Tuesday event in the heart of suburban Bucks County — one of the most contested counties in a critical swing state — offers a window into what a non-Trump-aligned right looks like in 2024. It means waging campaigns more focused on tax cuts and deregulation than on mass deportation or populism, and focusing on Senate and House races with more conventionally conservative candidates. A win for McCormick, who is considered far more of an underdog than GOP Senate challengers in Montana and Ohio, would virtually ensure Republican control of the Senate come November. While Democrats have a 51-49 edge in the chamber now, they are certain to lose West Virginia and their best pickup opportunities are long shots. GOP control of the Senate could prove especially critical for conservatives if Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris defeats Trump in the White House contest, according to Emily Greene, a senior adviser to Americans for Prosperity Action who runs the group’s Pennsylvania operations.
[...] Shaping — and, more recently, surviving — changes in the Republican governing coalition and policy agenda are nothing new for Americans for Prosperity and its political spending arm, AFP Action. But the Koch network — as AFP/AFP Action, The Libre Initiative/Libre Action, and their affiliate partners are often known — now finds itself in an extended period of ideological exile from the highest levels of Republican power. AFP opposes Trump’s trade tariffs, has a much more moderate approach to immigration policy than Trump and, unlike Trump himself, continues to defend the bipartisan sentencing reform bill he signed in 2018. Americans for Prosperity’s surviving founder, the oil and manufacturing billionaire Charles Koch — who co-created the group with his late brother, David Koch — has made his aversion to Trump abundantly clear. AFP Action decided not to endorse a candidate in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, dedicating its federal resources to electing Republicans to Congress. And in June 2023, the Kock network announced that it had raised $70 million to help the Republican Party move away from Trump. When Trump eventually emerged as the Republican presidential nominee this year, despite AFP Action’s $31 million super PAC spending on primary opponent Nikki Haley’s behalf, the group once again pivoted to Congress.
[...] To American progressives, Charles and David Koch were once the country’s chief ideological villains. They bankrolled the tea party movement, which gave birth to a hard-line faction of congressional Republicans committed to obstructing then-President Barack Obama’s policy agenda. But while many rank-and-file tea party activists were actually more concerned about immigration than their budget rhetoric would suggest, and welcomed Trump’s nativist program with open arms, the Kochs — and the cadre of right-wing libertarian activists and intellectuals they cultivated — were not ready to make the jump.
With programs like The Libre Initiative and Libre Action, the Koch network is also betting that appeals to Latino voters’ pocketbooks and interest in upward mobility would be more effective than Trump’s personality-centered populism — regardless of what polling suggests about his inroads with Latino voters. The Libre Initiative has, for example, argued that the Biden administration’s attempts to make it harder to classify workers as independent contractors would “hurt Latino workers,” since half of Latino workers fall under this category. “They’re opening up, and they’re seeing what’s most important to us now is our prosperity,” said Dallas, the strategic director. “It’s about being able to prosper in America.” At the same time, Libre’s moderate rhetoric on immigration, which combines calls for strict border enforcement with support for legalizing Dreamers and other bipartisan reforms, also hearkens back to the time period after Republicans’ loss in the 2012 presidential election, when the GOP began looking at softening its stance on immigration to appeal to more Latino voters.
The Koch Brothers, determined to stay in the GOP apparatus of influence, are focused on the #PASen race in a quest to flip control of the Senate.

Today is November 6, 2023.I just called John Fetterman's office again. Despite over 10,000 Palestinian people dead, his staff is still spouting the rhetoric that no, of course Senator Fetterman doesn't support the murder of civilians. He just thinks that a ceasefire will only benefit Hamas.
The aide on the phone didn't bother to answer my (admittedly rhetorical) questions about whether the murdered children were Hamas, whether the man carrying half his son's body was Hamas, whether Hamas was hiding in schools and hospitals, etc.
I am posting this now, but I am also scheduling this to be reblogged closer to the 2024 election.
See, I've already seen users minimize Biden's role in the genocide. I highly suspect that come 2024 election time, people will be swayed by politicians pretending they always wanted a ceasefire but that dastardly Israel wouldn't listen!
So as of now, with over 10,000 people dead, over twice that number injured, and no end in sight, PA reps John Fetterman, Bob Casey, Mary Gay Scanlon, and Josh Shapiro refuse to call for a ceasefire. Biden not only has refused to call for a ceasefire but sent a nuclear sub to Middle Eastern waters.
I encourage others to schedule similar posts to publish during 2024 election season, talking about their representatives' stances at this point. Because as this goes on, politicians will lie about how they reacted. Also, save any email replies, because give it a month and the email templates will change to imply the representatives have always supported a ceasefire.
