New York Comic Con 2017 - Friday

I had a lot of fun cosplaying Persona 5 with my friends (even though I was sweating in it half the time)! My arms still hurt from carrying the black school bag that I stuff with things I winded up not even using, like my jacket. I brought some jagariko, a sketchbook, and a calligraphy brush as well to be as Yusuke-esque as I could. I loveeee that guy’s Kaz Kaan cosplay though! He was apparently handing out Toblerones to people but had run out. Luckily, I had bought a regular-sized Toblerone earlier lol.

I was surprised we didn’t see has many BnHA or P5 cosplays as we thought we would, but it was probably because it wasn’t Saturday which is usually the most packed day of NYCC. Fairy Tale’s mangaka, Hiro Mashima, was at NYCC this year but we didn’t go to his panels since we got there late and we didn’t want to wait in line all day. There was a message board on the Show Floor and you could leave write a post-it note for him. One of them said “ありがとうございまう” in really bad kana, so I’m assuming that person misspelled “arigatou gozaimasu” lmao. 

In Artist Alley, my friends and I bought some Boku No Hero Academia characters-as-dogs stickers by this one artist who had a whole set of them, plus prints. She also had a tip jar with a framed picture of small Deku with a sign that said, “Help send my son to hero school” and it was the cutest thing ever. No wonder the tip jar was full lol. Another artist had a tip jar with a framed picture of Yurio and a mini Yurio figure next to it. It said something like, “Help feed my angsty son.”

My haul for the day only consisted of three purchased items: the Tokoyami-cat sticker I bought from the first artist, a “Meow Hero A-cat-demia” poster from the same artist that made “Su-purr Smash Cats” and “Attack on Kitten” and the Toblerone bar I bought at lunch time. Everything else was free from booths and tables!! Viz Media was giving out One Punch Man “Okay.” signs and Osomastsu-san posters (they had Ichimatsu and Jyushimatsu that day), Funimation had BnHA Hero Killer Stain buttons, the Sanrio booth gave out Aggressive Retsuko lanyards, and the other pamphlets were from various other tables. The Jojo art cards were also from Viz, and they hand it to you after you take a picture doing a Jojo pose in front of the Jotaro statue with the Noriaki cosplayer they had. I’ll post my pic in a different post, but it’s so great I love the pose the cosplayer chose for my pic.
