the three of you had always been close, growing up together in colony 4, inseparable even when ethel became the commander and bolearis and you were made her right hand men

you always assumed the deep bond you have to be a friendship that was just simply stronger than the average friendship

yet when you were freed by the flame clock and learned about the concept of ‘love’, you started to suspect that perhaps that word fit the three of you better

ethel was the first one to suggest trying those things lovers do. she heard about kissing and holding hands from noah, who had found out about it during his visits to the city

physical affection is very awkward at first and you three are never quite sure when it would be appropriate. sometimes you kiss in front of others, other times you're too flustered to hold hands if someone could walk in on you

it really takes a while to feel more natural, like something you want to do, not something you feel forced to do. but once it does, it really becomes enjoyable

cuddling before going to bed is the best way to get ethel to leave her desk in the evening. now she doesn't pull any all-nighters anymore to do paper work!

he exists almost solely as a sidekick to ethel, a kickass famous colony commander who he's always saying "yes ma'am" to except it sounds like "yes mom" bc he's british. he has grey hair at the age of 18. he always sounds at least a wee bit dehydrated. he has taken lives (he's a xenoblade 3 character). he fell off a cliff, survived, and probably bounced and made a squeaky noise. also he's an NPC

as an agnian soldier, it was no surprise that the kevesi hated you! you were all conditioned to hate the enemy after all

but bolearis was different. after meeting the ouroboros, he began to question his former beliefs and change his way of thinking

when he escaped the castle and ended up at your colony, everyone was more than willing to kill him!

but as their commander, you made the capture bolearis instead. you told your fellow soldiers you would get some information out of the kevesi spy…

but when you paid a tied up bolearis a visit later on, you were quick to remove the cuffs and give him something to eat

instead of using him for information, you wanted to hear from him what happened, that made him desperate enough to run into an agnian colony

as he told you about the ourobors and how his colony was freed from the flameclock, you became curious

you decided to keep bolearis around a little longer, to nurse him back to full health, before he would ‘escape’ his imprisonment – with your help, of course

but in return, you asked that if bolearis ever saw these ourobors again, you wanted them to free your colony as well!

perhaps then, the two of you could meet again, this time as allies…
