something i'm beginning to realize as i get older and have more years of lived experience under my belt is that everything has its season. i think that as a society we tend to try and define ourselves so profoundly by our interests and hobbies in order to either self-actualize or to brand ourselves (capitalism, i'm lookin' at you) and that makes it hard to feel like it's okay to outgrow things and move on if it no longer lights up that pleasure center in your brain. but it is okay! because everything is temporary and nothing lasts forever and that's not a bad thing! and we can still carry parts of those experiences and those eras of our lives with us into our next chapter, whether that be the people or the memories or our obtained skills or what have you. i think moving on is natural and shouldn't be seen as some sort of failing, you know? like oh, if i just try a little bit harder, maybe it will spark for me again. that was me for a long time, and you simply cannot force joy! i'm sorry that you felt like you couldn't be open about your waning interest in the show but i promise you are not alone. a lot of people have come and gone even just in the time i've been here and i think that is normal and healthy. so here's to moving forward, together! the love will always be there, as will the memories. ily and i'm excited to hang out with you as we step into our new chapters ✨

Ok this may be an extremely niche thing to point out about the Barbie movie BUT

So Ken at one point in the movie is showing off his insane music skills and he starts playing a keyboard. It is not just any keyboard, but an extremely specific and outdated keyboard from the mid 2000s that has a "demo" button that plays that... weird percussion music. Of course as my brother and I have played that demo more times than we could possibly stand as children we were perhaps the only ones ever to recognize it, and I really do wonder why Ken has this weird 2000s keyboard, but I think it is extremely on brand- that to show off his music skills. He *presses the button that plays the music for him*. Like you fuckin show em ken press that button

it drives me crazy when people in this show talk about a vaccine and a cure interchangeably. Those are two VERY DIFFERENT THINGS.

You're talking a vaccine. Infected that have turned are for sure dead. You're not bringing back a person that's been being eaten by fungus from the inside. Come on.

But given what we're told about Ellie's immunity, a vaccine would be super unlikely too. The reason it works for Ellie is because she has the fungus in her brain constantly pumping out whatever chemical messenger is confusing new cordyceps infections. Even if you WERE able to mass produce the chemical, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flushes (it flushes through the central nervous system and then is reabsorbed as the chloroid plexus makes more), it's not constant. You'd likely have to get the vaccine VERY frequently (likely by intrathecal injection- injection to the spinal cord directly- which is super invasive and kinda risky even right now). Even if you COULD get systemic injections (to presumably stop the fungus from spreading peripherally, before it even gets to your brain), you'd have to get multiple ones. Vaccines work longterm by getting your body to make its own antibodies to the invading agent. The fireflies weren't gonna be able to do that.

I think it'd be much more realistic for them to try to create a treatment. Maybe if you treat someone soon after being bitten you could stop the spread of the fungus (like with Ellie). The problem with this is, again, CSF flushes, so who knows if cordyceps would just start spreading again once the treatment was cleared.

TLDR: the fireflies wouldn't have been able to do shit with Ellie.

I need everyone to watch Class of '07 on Prime ASAP so it gets renewed.

All-women cast, an absurdist take on the apocalypse, an analysis of the best and worst parts of being a woman, the female friendships that ended abruptly or faded away and you're suddenly faced with, being confronted with all the high school shit that fucked you up with years of trauma piled on top, hilarious one second and gut-punching the next, has the most bonkers plot ever and gets absolutely batshit crazy but also manages to deftly tackle serious issues (episodes 3 to 6 are brilliant), spoofs all kinds of survivalist reality shows and even apocalypse fiction, my favorite pseudo villain of all time (I LOVE YOU SASKIA), an amazingly talented cast, and last but not least a lesbian and potential for more queerness.

Just... Please watch it.
