You know that guy who wrote that he got an idea of what it’s like to be a beautiful woman while walking down the street holding a fancy cake?

I feel like I have a reverse experience of that, where I get a taste of what it’s like to be a big, intimidating guy while at work as a tattoo artist.

like, put the tattoo gun in my hand and suddenly people are a little on edge around me, on the back foot in a way I have never experienced in my normal day to day life as a 5’3” afab person. Clients laugh at all my shitty jokes (for the first month of tattooing I was like “wow I’m really funny all of a sudden” before I realized what was happening) they ask my opinions and defer to my expertise with no convincing or placation. I find myself speaking definitively more often instead of constantly couching my statements with “I think-” and “I feel-”. My confidence has literally never been higher. Bizzare.

So I've had a pretty big change happen recently, I moved! To NY! Not the city or even close to it (I'm 8ish hours away) but still a pretty big change from CA. So far, we are settling in nicely to our new apartment. I'm so excited for the fall and seeing changes to the leaves and it being actually colder as the seasons change, like from where I grew up! I got bit by the yarn bug again and I've been crocheting up a storm haha

The Gossip in Xianle must have been so wild and so juicy literally every character that we know that came from Xianle is full of judgement, side eyes and highly fluent sarcasm I know the Xianle Court must have been like an episode of desperate housewives.

I've seen a few posts saying that if you're planning to have kids, you need to be prepared for your child to be disabled, and if you are not in the position to parent a disabled child you shouldn't become a parent.

This is extremely true, but I wanted to expand upon that and say, as a person who has become disabled since having a kid, you also need to prepare for the possibility that you yourself might become disabled at some point in your child’s upbringing. This means insurance, savings if you can, but more necessarily: community. This means as many people invested in your and your child's health and happiness as possible.

and if you aren’t in a position to parent, but still really want that experience, look to the ways you can help the kids and parents already in your community. Take a babysitting course and offer your help to your friends and family with kids, look into big brother/big sister programs or volunteer your time with camps or kids charities. There are so many ways to impact a kids life positively without being their main caretaker.
