no but we need aroallo acceptance and casual hookup culture because then people will actually have the language to COMMUNICATE with their partner, hey i don't want this to mean anything romantically but i still wanna do this, and be able to casually talk about whether that's okay with both of you, instead of either secretly sleeping around or cheating or being stuck in a relationship that one person just isn't feeling

yeah not just svetlana but she gets a lot of it. so she's a strong example of the mindset. it makes me soooo sad bc i really like svetlana! but like.. id prefer to see more about how she was maybe thinking or what she could've been planning rather than just how sad she is. i think it's very unfair to her & sort of discouraging as a way to talk about trauma in general. she can still have a big personality and a life and a future and goals and missteps guys cmon now.

example of a potential thought process based on actor choice-> when she threatens mickey in s4 im pretty sure i saw her eyes tracking kevin behind him. so kevin would hear mickey threatening her back but not what she said to him. this would be a very clever maneuver for 2 reasons

she can preserve mickeys closeted status even while talking to him in public - this is both potentially protective (she has no way to know who is or is not very homophobic as she doesn't know people in the area) & even if she and mickey don't get along it benefits her & yevgeny for mickey to be in good health. AND maintains her leverage

if she can keep people assuming that mickey is rude/dangerous to her, it gives her a backup plan to fall onto if mickey is really incapable or unwilling to support her. she has no way to decide which horse she's hitching her cart to do it's safer to keep as many avenues as possible in case something goes very wrong

it was interesting to me that she called herself "selfish" before she had yevgeny because she probably just meant "survival oriented" selfish is a very harsh assessment of this - it doesn't seem like she wants to let herself off easy for anything and may overcompensate & being survival oriented did NOT change when yevgeny was born - she just found she had somebody else who she was concerned with, later bonding with other people as she stayed in the same place for possibly a lot longer than she was used to
