#31DaysofHorror Day 7: Braid (2018, dir. Mitzi Peirone)
a film that's as gorgeous as it is stupid. narratively it feels like instead of trying to convey anything close to an actual story, they just went "wouldn't it look cool if this happened" for every scene without regard for the last, and not in a fun way. mind you, i love surreal experimental arthouse bullshit, but braid seems more like someone attempting to emulate that style without really understanding the point. surrealism still wants to convey something, but anything conveyed here is amateurish at best, and the rest is empty signifiers. a film that should have been a music video.
i'm still giving this 2 stars for photography and acting (not so much editing), but i'm really disappointed because i was excited for this movie. oh well. might still use it for cosplay so there's that.

SUMMARY: Two wanted women decide to rob their wealthy psychotic friend who lives in the fantasy world they created as children; to take the money they have to take part in a deadly perverse game of make believe.
mod Z would like to thank whoever requested this because it鈥檚 now on his watchlist and he鈥檚 actually really looking forward to hopefully watching it soon. This kind of psychological horror is defo on his wavelength.
