Have you heard of Curupira before? I grew up hearing stories about a short man with fiery hair and backwards feet, who tricked poachers, hunters and arsonists into getting lost deep in the jungle by confusing them with his inverted foot prints and a shrill whistling that eventually made people insane. He is one of the most known characters in Brazilian folklore, along with Caipora, Iara and Boitatá. Check my website (link in bio) to know him better! One night however, the young woman saw the reflection of the moon in the river, and reached for it ultimately drowning. Começamos com a carta 0 ou 22 (começo ou fim), o LOUCO- SACI. 0– O LOUCO: SACI O SACI Lenda comum a muitas regiões do Brasil, veio do mito Guarani Yasy Yateré (fragmento de lua). É aceita também a origem de nome que ajuda a dar forma ao saci Pererê, Çaa cy Perereg (Olho Mau Saltitante). Mau de enfermo, doente, aquele que enxerga de forma distorcida - isto é, não distingue caminhos ou fronteiras de certo e errado. O saci nasce do bambuzal, onde fica por sete anos em formação, e depois vive por mais 77 anos. Tem o costume de fazer peraltices, trançar o rabo dos cavalos, derrubar tudo com seu rodamoinho. Os “causos” populares contam que dentro de cada redemoinho de vento existe um saci e, para capturá-lo, é preciso ter paciência e um pouco de sorte. Primeiro, a pessoa deve se posicionar lentamente perto dele e jogar uma peneira. Depois, com cuidado, ela deve colocar uma garrafa vazia de cachaça lá dentro e esperar que o Saci-Pererê entre nela. Na hora de fechar, é bom não se esquecer de desenhar uma pequena cruz na rolha. Quando morre, o saci vira um cogumelo venenoso, a orelha–de–pau. O SACI/ O LOUCO O saci é uma das criaturas mais imprevisíveis e inconsequentes do folclore brasileiro. A Sua associação com o louco é óbvia neste quesito justamente por conta de sua espontaneidade e atitude diante do mundo humano dito normal.
