I think the most fascinating thing about the immigration conversation is that no one on this panel recognizes that most people who immigrate to America don’t gain citizenship and because of that they don’t get access to most government services. Like they can’t functionally take anything away from citizens. It is also interesting how media has been sensationalizing immigration issue. Like yes there have been people that have committed violent crimes that are immigrants and there are international crime organizations, but that’s just the nature of living in a county like America? It’s not to pacify it but it’s a certain type of focus that makes it seem like it’s something new and heinous because of new immigrants like no boob, history constantly repeats itself for several reasons, but it’s not because of having open immigration. It’s just so annoying to see people being demeaned and criminalized for immigrating especially from the children of boomer era immigrants.

I was talking about it to friends last night so uhhhh jacktash meta for sillies!

Jack and Gortash have a kind of antagonistic relationship at the start. Gortash wants to control him, and Jack resents being controlled. Gortash learns how to push Jack's buttons and goad him into a reaction. Jack gets flustered and frustrated by his this mortal cretin manages to get under his skin so easily.

They do become less antagonistic as time passes, but their relationship is kind of a strange one. I think saying it's love isn't really accurate (though Jack would say that yes, he's in love with Enver), but something close to it. They do care about one another, but they're so deeply damaged by their respective upbringing that it's impossible to express that in a healthy way.

In effect, Gortash kind of views Jack as this dangerous creature that he wants to control and dominate, and he tends to express that in physical ways: grabbing Jack's chin to tilt his head up, guiding him by the small of his back or his arm. Physical, but subtle gestures of control and ownership.

Jack wants to believe he is above letting anyone have power over him, but he's also so desperate for affection and approval that he's willing to surrender himself. He resents Gortash for treating him like a trophy but also deeply desires recognition from him.

They try to make each other better, but they really only kind of enable each other's worst impulses.
