Week 11 - Something to show for

Tomorrow marks six weeks since production began, and there are six weeks remaining until we showcase our films. Time sure does fly when you’re busy, doesn’t it? And although my production got off to a bit of a bumpy start, I am happy that I’ve managed to grab this beast of a project by the horns and wrangle it back on track. The past two weeks in particular have proven to be very productive for me. I’ve managed to complete animation for the first sequence of the film, which equates to roughly a third of the total length. I’ve managed to refine my work process to the point that I’m completing a shot once every day or two. As I move into my next sequences I believe that trend will likely continue, as the shots become more numerous and dynamic, but shorter and less animation heavy.  Here is the first sequence (aka roughly the first minute) of my animation:

The last major component I’m still missing is voices, but that should change very soon as well. I have finally established contact with a voice actress that may be willing to help. I will likely have to go back and resync some of these clips once I have the final voice clips. Having that done will take a lot of anxiety of this project off my shoulders. Then it will be a simple matter of finishing off the animation, and adding music and sound; that’s always the final stage of my work. And the short will then finally be complete. When this project is over, don’t try to call or message me for at least a week, as I will be busy sealed away in my room, catching up on all the sleep I missed this semester. Haha! Just kidding. I’m excited to see what work other people have managed to get done over the break. But let’s get back to it people! Break time is over. This is the Undercover Animator, blasting off again. 🌟

IV. “Break-time Muna Ate/Kuya” Reflection Paper

          Kapag sinasabing immersion o volunteered work, ang unang pumapasok sa isip ko ay ang mga simpleng manggagawa sa bansa katulad ng mga karpintero, gwardya, housekeeping o service crew. Isang importanteng proyekto sa asignaturang ito ay ang “Breaktime muna Ate/Kuya” kung saan inaasahan kaming pumalit sa trabaho ng isang napiling manggagawa ng panandalian. Sa patuloy na pagpapaganda ng proyektong ito, napagsunduan ng mga estudyante at dalubguro na pumili ng manggagawang kumikita ng malaki o may estado sa buhay. Sa naging pagbabago ng kundisyon ng proyektong ito, ang nakikita kong layunin ay upang makilala ng mga estudyante ng mas malalim ang mga dalubguro na nakakasalamuha nila. Upang hindi lamang matapos sa guro at estudyanteng relasyon ang pagkakakilanlan ng bawat isa sa isa’t isa. Natipuhan namin ng aking katuwang sa proyektong ito ang isang dalubguro na masasabi kong malaki ang suporta sa mga estudyanteng kanyang hinahawakan.

          Ang naturang gawain na pandalian kong ginawa ay maging isang Critique sa mga isinumitang papel ng mga estudyante sa dalubguro. Nagbasa ako ng maraming papel patungkol sa isang paksa. Sa apat (4) na oras na itinagal ng panandaliang boluntaryong pagtatrabaho, masasabi kong mahirap ang mga gawain ng mga dalubguro base sa naging karanasan ko. Ipalagay mong lagpas ng isang daan (100) ang iyong estudyante at lahat ng ito ay may isinumiting papel na kailangan mong basahin at bigyan ng grado at kailangan mo pang gumising ng maaga upang magturo maghapon. Hindi ko man masasabi na nasanay na lamang ang mga dalubguro, pero masasabi kong kahit magbasa lamang ay nakakapagod na.

          Upang kilalanin pa ng malalim ang dalubguro, gumamit kami ng Filipino Research Method na Pakikipagkwentuhan at Pagtatanung-tanung. Swerte na lamang namin dahil kakilala namin ang dalubguro at magaan ang pakiramdam namin sa isa’t isa. Isa pang nakakagulat na bagay ay magkasing edad lamang kami ng dalubguro na ito. Ang naging panimulang tanong ay “Ano ang nagtulak sa iyo sa Psychology?” Noong nagsimula na syang magkwento, naging madali na lamang para sa akin ang magtanong at sumang-ayon sa kanyang mga sinasabi. Naging maayos ang pakikipagkwentuhan ko sa dalubguro dahil interesado ako sa kanyang mga sinasabi at siguro, dahil magkasing-edad lamang kami.

          Pagtapos ng pagtatanung-tanung at pakikipagkwentuhan, napagtanto ko lamang na maikli lamang ang oras natin sa mundong ito at dapat na ginagawa natin ang mga bagay na nais nating gawin habang kaya pa. Dito ko rin napansin na ang dalubgro ang magaling sa pakikisama. Dahil sa saglit lamang na panahon na kami ay nagkakilala, nagawa nang magkwento ng dalubguro ng mga bagay na may kaugnayan sa kanyang pag-aaral upang maging dalubhasa pa sa napiling kurso.

          At dahil tinuring ko nang hindi ibang tao ang dalubgurong ito, para sa akin, mayroon na kaming Shared Identity dahil kapwa ko siyang naniniwala sa kahalagahan ng kalusugang pangkaisipan. Isang malaking bagay para sa akin ang magkaroon ng dalubguro na madaling lapitan kapag may kailangan. Ginagawa nilang madali para sa akin ang pagiging kolehiyal at habang buhay kong tatanawin na utang na loob ang mga bagay na nagawa ng dalubgurong ito sa akin at sa aking pag-aaral sa kolehiyo.

          Upang tapusin ang pagwawari-waring ito, ako ay lubos na nagagalak dahil sa nalamang kong metodo sa pananaliksik ng mga Pilipino. Ito ay babase lamang sa pakikipag-ugnayan mo sa ibang tao at pakikipagpalagayang loob. Napaka dali at walang hamon ang mga metodong ito at pinapadali ng mga metodong ito ang paglikom ng mga impormasyon o datos. Bilang Pilipino, Inaasahan kong lumago at madagdagan pa ang kaalaman natin sa mga metodong ito.
