Finally it is Friday! 🙌 Some weeks just don't seem to end at all! I haven't gotten around to writing patterns lately, but I'm really hoping to squeeze in a few hours this weekend. 🧶 Fear not, my ideas for new designs never cease! I have so many plans for the future. There just really wasn't enough time to get anything done lately. Hopefully that will be easier soon. Today the sun came back. Today the rain stopped and now there is SNOW! 🌨❄ yay! 🙌 I had to go out for a walk right away. It very rarely snows here so you have to take every opportunity that you get. 😉 MINUIT cowl and AMMONITE beanie kept me warm and I enjoyed the time ourside so much. ☆ JOGLESS STRIPES VIDEO TUTORIAL ☆ Have you ever wondered how to achieve jogless stripes while knitting in the round? 🤔 Well, actually it is quite easy. Let me explain the simple two steps it needs. 😊 The marker marks the place where you change color. • Step 1 - Video 1 When starting a new stripe make sure that the old color strand runs between your work and the new color strand. Then just knit the whole round until you reach your marker. • Step 2 - Video 2 (swipe!) After you finished the first round of the new color, i.e. you knit all stitches right up to your marker, you take the marker off. Then you pick up the stitch below your next stitch, which is in the color of the stripe below, and put it on your left needle. Now you knit the next stitch together with the stitch that you just picked up. After that you place the marker on your right needle and work the second round of the current stripe. When you reach your marker once more, work step 1 again to change color. That's it! 👍 Easy, right?! It was about time that I got some pattern writing done! 🙌 This weekend I was finally able to finish the pattern for this shawl. I send it to my tech editor today. Depending on how much work there is still to be done, I hope to open a new call for testers at the end of next week. Recently some of you asked me to share a little more of my designing process. And while I found it to be an awesome idea, I soon realised that I had trouble to decide what to share exactly. 😁 Mainly because there is always a lot of frogging involved and I often don't know whether my idea is going to work in the end. I don't want to get your hopes up if I am not sure if I will really finish the project - let alone make a pattern for it afterwards. 🙈 But today I decided to jump over my shadow and share what I am currently working on. 🧶 It is another colorwork project and this is not the first stitch pattern I tried. Right now I think I am happy with this one and going to stick with it. But I still feel the need to add a little disclaimer: I might not. And you might never see this project again. I really don't know what will happen. 🤷‍♀️ 🤣 So what I learned about my own designing process the past few weeks is the following: I do a lot of things by trial and error. I start knitting and then I frog a little or even rip out the entire project, try something different, frog again and so on... until I am happy with the result. 😊 In the future I will try to share a little more about my designing process. If you are interested in something specific, please let me know. I really want to me this as relevant to you as possible. Also let me know if you are going about things in a whole different way.
