College Steve & Bucky, TW for mpreg & discussion of abortion

(Also, you're welcome to send me tropes you think I wouldn't write!)

Steve is sitting at the foot of his bed, alternating between fiddling with the frayed edge of his sleeve or gnawing at his thumbnail, already jagged and bitten down to the quick. 

Bucky has been in the bathroom for what feels like hours, though it realistically can’t have been more than a few minutes. Steve lets out a long breath, forcing his hands down by his sides. He squeezes his eyes shut and begins counting backwards from one hundred. 

Eighty-six, eighty-five, eighty-four.

The lock clicks, and Steve opens his eyes. 

Bucky steps out, looking anywhere but at Steve. He drops the test stick into a trashcan by the desk and slumps down on the bed. 

Steve doesn’t need to see what the test says; it’s written clear as day in the dejected slouch of Bucky’s shoulders, in the way his face has been drained of all color. 

“Jesus fucking christ.” Bucky leans his elbows on his knees, his head bent low. 

“Buck.” 

“You don’t have to—” Bucky clears his throat, running a hand over his face. “It’s okay.” He lets out a slightly hysterical laugh. “I mean, obviously it’s not okay, but it’s gonna be. I’m fine.” 

“It’s okay if you’re not. You don’t have to be fine.” Steve shifts a little closer, turning sideways so he’s facing Bucky’s profile. “You’re allowed to feel whatever you’re feeling.” 

“Yeah, maybe.” Bucky glances at Steve from the corner of his eye, a sad twist to his mouth. 

They sit in silence for a while, Steve trying not to look while Bucky blinks back tears, his lip trembling. 

“I don’t have to tell him, do I?” Bucky suddenly asks, wiping his eyes on his sleeve. 

It takes Steve a moment to wrap his head around the question. 

“I just wanna take care of it,” Bucky continues, his voice thick. “We haven’t talked at all since we broke up, and I just... really don’t wanna tell him.” 

“Then you don’t tell him.” Steve reaches out a hand, his fingertips brushing the side of Bucky’s leg. “You should do whatever’s best for you.” 

Bucky sniffs softly, pressing his knee into Steve’s touch. “I should make the appointment,” he murmurs, clearly more to himself than to Steve. 

“I’ll come with you,” Steve says, perhaps a little too quickly. “I mean, if you want me to.”

Bucky turns to face him, frowning. “You’d do that?” 

“Of course. Someone has to take you, ‘cause you’re not allowed to drive afterwards.” 

Bucky looks like he’s going to start crying for real this time. He slots his knee between Steve’s crossed legs, his hand resting on Steve’s arm. 

“And you need someone to stay with you, y’know, for the night. I’ll rent Alien and get you a tub of chocolate chip cookie dough.” 

“Alien? Really?” 

“Fuck.” Steve wants to kick himself. “Yeah, right. Maybe not that one.” He casts around for something less on the nose. “Predator? Chocolate chip cookie dough and butter pecan?” 

Bucky lets out a choked laugh, leaning his forehead against Steve’s shoulder. “Yeah, that’ll do.” 

Steve pulls him closer, fingers threading through the sweaty hairs at the nape of Bucky’s neck. “I’ll sleep on the floor, we can put the couch cushions down like when we were kids.”

Bucky just hums under his breath, the tension palpably draining from his shoulders. 

“It’s gonna be fine, Buck,” Steve promises, pressing the words into Bucky’s hairline. 

“I know, Stevie,” Bucky says, his voice muffled into Steve’s chest.

The diner is almost deserted. One waitress pours coffee as she yawns, and the other polishes the empty chrome counter. You and Steve are sprawled in a booth by the window, looking out into the flat darkness. Day five of your cross-country trip and you've only fought once, the giddiness of your adventure and love keeping you afloat.

"Gonna eat those?" you ask him, gesturing to his breakfast potatoes. He shakes his head, focused on the tiny jukebox in front of him. He's been scrolling through the songs for almost five minutes, tongue peeking out of his mouth in concentration.

"Got it!" he cries, hitting a few buttons before sitting back into his seat, looking entirely too pleased with himself. The familiar tune of one of your favorite songs starts to fill the diner. You take a bite of his food and laugh as he wiggles out from behind the table and stands, holding his hand out to you.

"No way, Steve," you say, shaking your head.

"C'mon! You love this song." He shakes his hips a little and winks at you. You've never been good at resisting him, so you sigh dramatically and stand, taking his hand. He immediately spins you around before settling a hand on your hip and dancing you around the diner.

"Dancin' in the moonlight," he sings in your ear. The waitresses are laughing at you as you dance through the song, Steve crooning the whole time. And anyone looking in probably thinks you're both drunk. And maybe you are -- drunk on your own love, your own happiness. What could be better?

Chaos Is What Killed the Dinosaurs, Darling is the Jurassic Park AU I've been talking/complaining about for almost two years now, but I'd be happy to give you a little snippet! Basically it's Steve as Sattler, Nat as Grant and Bucky as Malcom, and then... some plot happens? 😅 It's still in its bare bones stage, and Idk if it'll ever amount to anything, but here goes:

“Fire!”

The earth shakes, and a flock of birds takes flight somewhere up ahead. Steve flexes his jaw, the boom of the ground penetrating sonar ringing in his ears. It’s been a long day — scratch that, a long two weeks — with the Montana sun beating down his back, getting more merciless by the day. 

His partner is already by the tent, looking intently at a computer perched on top of an empty beer case. Steve watches Natasha tap the side of the screen with two fingers, frowning at it. 

“Steve, c’mere!” 

Sweat stings his eyes, and he wipes them with the hem of his shirt as he makes his way over. Scott, their technician (or, demolition expert, as he likes to call himself), gives Steve the thumbs up and wheels the sonar unit further away before entering the tent himself.

tmi- I mean.. you knew I’ve been talking to you since last year so excitedly how I wanted to move countries for my studies!!🥹 and I worked so hard for it and finally did it but like…yk a lot of bad things happened and my education agency actually scammed around $ 15000 and also messed up all my application documents.. and I found out about it after I came here? It was so stressful, everyday was filled with panic attacks and constant prayers to fix everything..and it was admist ramadan too so I was fasting on top of all this stress. It kinda affected my mental and physical health a lot💔

And then all of a sudden life got so hectic, that issue kinda got resolved and living alone all by myself while studying medicine and surgery in uni with shit ton of assignments, exams, lab practicals and lectures to study actually consumes all of my time and I can barely find time to sleep! >:( communication is hard for me atm bc I can’t find the time (to even call my parents sometimes😭) so I’ve been away from tumblr for so long! And I’m waiting for my break to come so I can come back here and post and answer asks and everything but my break is a long wayy and before that I have to go through so much more as my exams are also coming up.

don’t worry, my kindest sunshine, I’m happy nonetheless. This is all I wanted and I’m working hard everyday for a dream I had in my heart since the day I learned to dream. :’)💕 to be independent, admirable, kind and someone worthy who can make herself proud!!
