In 2018 the Lucasfilm art dept had roughly 9-10 months to design Disney's flagship D+ series The Mandalorian. We had roughly a 3rd of the time and budget as your usual film production for roughly 2 films worth of content. I was honored to be hired by Doug Chiang to lead conceptual development for the majority of the characters for the show, including Din Djarin.

I love that they did one without the coat so you can see his little utility vest. Also, this is a more "realistic version" to me than the Live Action prosthetics, though I am not complaining by any means. I know it is hard to translate to the real world, and the artists did an amazing job. I imagine this is what old man Bane would look like animated. :D

Paz Vizsla, by Brian Matyas

Paz Vizsla was a fun one to design, especially knowing it was going to be voiced by Jon Favreau very early on. Doug Chiang gave me a fair amount of freedom with this design, with the direction being as simple as he's a walking tank, a brute with a heavy repeater weapon. It was a joy to see him fully realized on screen by the talents at Legacy FX, faithfully translated from these concepts.
