I tried searching but couldn't find the Lizzie Bennet Diaries on your blog. Was it not included because it's a modern adaptation? It was very popular on tumblr at the time and there are certainly some hot men in it.

I'm afraid I kept it strictly to regency period . There was a minipoll of my two favourite bingley's from modern pride and prejudices which had Bing Lee in but as we're all going feral for Darcys this week here are some more modern men to vote on...

Grim Ghostly Bride ft. Samantha

Happy Halloween month from Ghost Bride Samantha and me! 🎃 I bought a doll wedding dress from Etsy, took a seam ripper and some green and black fabric dye to it, and finally sewed some "creepy cloth" to the waist. The original dress was so beautiful on its own, I felt kinda bad ruining it, but the final effect is undeniably cool. I have this fun little headcanon that Sam got this costume in-universe when she found an old wedding dress in Grandmary's attic shortly after she heard the scary story "The Mistletoe Bough," which is about a bride who meets a gruesome fate after a game of hide-and-seek with her new husband goes terribly wrong. She got inspired, and (after getting permission from Grandmary) she asked Jessie to help her alter it to fit her. Then she and Aunt Cornelia took a pair of scissors and added some strategically placed rips, and finally they let Bridget and Jenny throw ink all over it (which the two little girls enjoyed tremendously, though they needed a good long soak in the bath afterwards).

Today is St Bridget’s Day, but it is also the feast of the Celtic goddess Brigid, or Bride. Of the historical Bridget, little is known. She lived in Kildare, where she founded a nunnery and became its Abbess; she died in 525. However, after her subsequent canonisation, a number of miracles were attributed to her, including the ability to make cows produce more milk, and her turning an armful of rushes into fish during a fish scarcity. She was also, illogically, given she lived in the sixth century, also supposedly Jesus’ midwife. Bridget took on a cultish status in Ireland, Wales and the Isle of Man. In central Wales a gathering of twenty nuns fiercely guarded an ever-burning fire dedicated to Bridget, which no man was permitted to approach. If all this sounds rather pagan, it is because it was. The Christian missionaries in the Celtic west encountered strong belief in the goddess Bride, who was associated with fertility, water and the spring. The winter fires set by the pre-Christian Celts in honour of Bride explain the saint’s fire cult, and her association with fertility and child birth, explains the Christian linking of Bridget to the birth of Christ.

A more specific tale concerning Bride and the return of spring was also told in pagan times. Bride was the daughter of the “Good God” Dagda, the god of plenty. In a similar tale to that of Hades and Persephone, Bride was said to have been kidnapped by Cailleach, the goddess of winter, who held her in a mountain fastness, forcing Dagda to withdraw his benevolence from the earth and enabling Cailleach to spread her sheet of ice all over the land for four months. However, the agreement with Dagda was that Bride should be released in early February, and on this, her feast day, the young goddess would emerge from her mountain prison, and the snow would melt as she stepped through it, bringing the light of spring in her wake. The people would set candles in their windows to welcome the waxing sun and placed a bed by their door to encourage Bride to enter their homes, bringing warmth and good fortune with her.

Inevitably, come the end of October Bride had to return to Cailleach and her winter confinement.

Pt 2 of gifs from the Here Come the Brides episode “Mr. and Mrs. J Bolt”. Prospective bride Peggy (Mary Jo Deschanel) has written her uncle saying she’s married to Joshua Bolt (David Soul). She did this because, although she wanted to go to Seattle, she didn’t have his consent to make the trip. As a minor, her uncle is still her legal guardian.

Now he's coming to visit and will surely find out she lied and take her home. Unless...

Joshua and Peggy pretend to be married while he’s in town.

A weaselly, schemer of a man who already squandered her inheritance, Uncle Jebediah is all too happy to hear Peggy married into a family with a flourishing business. He attempts to squeeze his way into the Bolts’ logging operation, threatening to sue them for taking Peggy to Seattle without his consent if they don’t agree to cut him in.

Things get infinitely worse when word of the fake marriage spreads first, to Captain Clancey and, via him, Aaron Stempel.

With the prospect of losing their business and Peggy being forced back into her abusive uncle’s custody looming, Josh and Peggy elope.

In the end, they’re able to send Jebediah away, save their business (and Peggy’s freedom) without she or Josh having to get married. Not realizing they only got a marriage license but didn’t actually go through with the wedding, he leaves.

Peggy keeps the license because it’s good for a year and she might need it.

Bridget Ann Elizabeth Hanley (February 3, 1941 – December 15, 2021)  Actress known for her starring and supporting roles in TV comedy, western, adventure, and drama programs, including as Candy Pruitt in the Western dramedy series Here Come the Brides. She also starred in Harper Valley PTA as Wanda Reilly Taylor.

Hanley's first credited TV role was in the sitcom Hank in 1965, playing Terry in the episode "My Fair Co-Ed". Geto secretly loves romance movies. He craves the sweet dialogue and soft romance scenes. He'll binge watch them after having an awful mission, the acrid taste of the ingested curses lingering at the back of his throat.

His favorites include Made Of Honor, The Proposal, How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days, and My Best Friend's Wedding.

When you find out this is his post-mission ritual, you melt, seeing the look of embarrassment on his face when he finally admits it.

He invites you to these more frequently than you thought, making you ache at the amount of shitty missions he deals with. You start adding your own movies to the mix.

Notting Hill, When Harry Met Sally, Runaway Bride, and Bridget Jones become some of his favorites.

BROPPY HEADCANNONS

It’s no energy x too much energy

But we all knew that already

I like to think that after finding out Poppy is allergic to her favorite flowers, Branch would press the flowers and seal them so the pollen can’t reach her

He would literally go to the ends of the earth for her

Poppy has a scrapbook with photos of him and lil songs she wrote for him

She also keeps the scrapbook he made for her in a safe place with a picture of them both together

Sleepovers happen- you cannot convince me otherwise

I like to think that Branch has sensory issues so he has his own blanket at poppy’s pod so if a spontaneous sleepover happens, he can sleep in peace

If a wedding did occur

It would be small, contrary to popular opinion

It would be their friends, branches brothers and poppy’s dad and sister (along with Bridget and Gristle

The brothers definitely pulled the ‘first look at the bride’ prank

John Dory dressed up in a wedding dress and tapped branches shoulder, Branch turned around- expecting to see poppy and instead burst out laughing at his brother

It was a good moment

Then it happens for serious

Viva and King Peppy walk Poppy down the aisle

Viva is already crying- Peppy isn’t too far behind her

John Dory is proud, Floyd is sobbing with happiness, Bruce is smiling, Clay is shooting thumbs up at Branch

When Branch sees poppy walking down the aisle-

Everything disappears except her

He doesn’t even realize he’s crying until poppy wipes them off his cheeks

Everyone starts crying when they say their vows

“If anyone sees any reason as to why these two should not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace”

Poppy smiles cause she knows no one will say anything

Branch glares into the crowd

You can hear JDs ominous knuckle cracking as everyone is silent
