So I'm rewatching the movie compilation, as you do, and something hits me at about 1:54 as Belos is possessing the Titan
We all know Tiny Nose is Dana's self insert, right? Did y'all notice that she got forced out of her spot by...a *mouse*?
Well played, Dana. Well. Played.

I'm not sure how y'all manage to acquire clear screenshots so apologies for the lack of visual evidence but. I'm thinking about Hunter/Belos parallels again.
So after Thanks to Them, when Flapjack sacrifices himself to save Hunter, we sort of see Hunter become "a real boy" Pinocchio-style. I don't remember the Grimwalker recipe off-hand, but it might have been missing a final key ingredient: magic freely given from a palisman.
Hear me out for a second: For the Future, on some level, proves that one of the uses Belos has for the Grimwalkers is as back-up bodies; I imagine some of the ones he considered to be greater "failures" than others got usurped into body preservation duty (in other words, Belos Goo is actually leftover Cream of Grimwalker). We know he's able to absorb palismen and that's what allows him to do magic (at least, enough to maintain a semi-human form).
Hunter does not seem to need to find more palismen after Flapjack infuses his life force. And I really think that's the key distinction: all of the palismen that Belos absorbs, he does so violently and against their will, often breaking and destroying them entirely in the process (we actually see this DURING the episode, as it is what puts Flapjack on the ropes I'm the first place). But Hunter did *not* try to usurp Flapjack's power at all; Flapjack made a very deliberate choice to share his power (a sequence we will see play out again with a different set of characters during Watching and Dreaming; yet another parallel for two adopted siblings).
And I think because that magic was freely given, that is why it lasts. Hunter got to do magic on his own, got to shed the sight of himself as "half-a-witch", got to really and truly fulfill what Caleb may well have wanted all along (becoming an actual witch), all because Flapjack freely gave him that chance.
Anyway, what a helluva redemption arc. This boy is something special.

It took me 20-odd years to come to this conclusion, and I very well may be late to the party, but.

I was today years old when I realized that Plankton's favorite is holographic meatloaf because *plankton eat light*.
Like this is just photosynthesis hidden behind a dumb joke but ohmygod that's actually genius.

I did not see much of C2E2, but I absolutely made sure I got to see my son. Meeting @rufiozuko (Dante Basco) in my Ursa cosplay for the second time (complete with a 2023 upgrade!) was just as magical and memorable as the first. He immediately said "Mom!! Where have you been?!" followed by "haha jk I read the comics I know!" and that he rarely sees Ursa cosplayers (I mean one of the ones he saw was literally also me 6 years ago lol) and he hopes her story gets animated. BIG same! Maybe with all this Avatar Studios hype there's hope...

Do you ever think about the Blight Twins' initial focus being Illusions, and Odalia's emphasis on upholding the image of a perfect family?
Do you ever think about how underneath their cloaking stones, Edric and Emira are just normal teenagers with normal teenage flaws?
Do you ever think about the ugly truth of how broken the Blight home is underneath the facade, all thanks to Odalia's abuse?
Did you also make the connection that the Twins' arc reflects the Blight family on the whole?

Just saw someone call Golden Garden predatory because of the age gap since "well half of 16 is 8 and 8+7 is 15 so he can't date anyone younger" and also say a 16 and 12 year old is the same level of squicky as a 16 and 14 year old (and also somehow reducing Willow's age even further) and all I can think is
Good God I'm having Zutara flashbacks, specifically in regards to how antis get weirdly hung up on a two year age gap between a woman of color and an older teen who has had to undergo a lot of redemption
Am I crazy for thinking that it comes across as deliberate infantilization? Is it just me? They're in the sane cohort, people in high school date all the time? Why does this make them so mad all the time??

Reminder that Ozai is the one responsible for the abuse and neglect of both of his children and that Ursa didn't "create a monster" by attempting to undo a narcissistic abusers conditioning and failing.
Don't blame Ursa for Ozai's abuse kthxbye.

Mae Whitman. Is coming. To C2E2. Mae. WHITMAN. Will be at C2E2.
KATARA. HERSELF.
Will be at C2E2. With most of the rest of the Gaang (noticing a distinct absence of Jessie Flowers and Jennie Kwan at present).
And I'm supposed to remain calm and focused at work?
I'm going absolutely feral this is so exciting I am VIBRATING.

Imagine thinking that people who recognize the narrative's treatment of Katara as a trophy wife is not a good look are idiots 🙄
If you can't recognize that the Katara who literally said "I'll be outside if you're man enough to fight me" and the Katara who stood idly by while her grandchildren were literally under attack are hardly the same character anymore, I don't know what to tell you.
The creators and by extension the narrative did her dirty.

You know this episode exposes another parallel between Luz and Philip, further cementing them as foils to each other:
They are both unreliable narrators in some capacity.
Philip is the more obvious flavor, deliberately falsifying his diary and his intentions from anyone who might read them.
But Luz, Luz is lying to *herself*. She's adjusting her internal dialogue to obfuscate her pain. And I don't think she's entirely conscious of it, unlike Philip who is VERY aware of what he's doing, but I do think she's using it as a defense mechanism, and the end result is the same: the narrator cannot be entirely trusted.
It's not as big or heavy a reveal as some of the other theories that have cropped up around their connection, but it is still a thread that ties. And like their other connecting threads, it's their external support systems (or lack thereof) that determine how their lies affect them and those around them.
