Eyes closed Ghirahim too for good measure.
When your friend starts drawing that male character regularly to the point that they can do it eyes closed, it's over. That's stage 4 of the character obsession sickness. There's no treatment. It's terminal. It's also contagious.
#absolutely deceased#why’s he build like that 💀#at least the Remlit vaguely resembled the thing it’s supposed to look like

Skyward Sword Skyloft Aesthetic
I love the aesthetic of Skyloft so let's analyze it and see what makes it tick. This will be a long post with lots and lots of photos.
First of all, In Skyloft there are two very different styles of architecture:

Ancient architecture, which are the stately grey stone structures like the light tower in the plaza and around the Statue of the Goddess (as well as various locations on the surface)

And the Skyloftian architecture, which is much more round, colorful and whimsical than the ancient architecture. I will be focusing on the Skyloftian architecture.

Skyloftian houses are built underground with one exposed side facing out. The roofs are flat and often have paths or grass growing on them in order to maximize surface area and places to walk. Each house is unique and is personalized to the occupant.

Non-house buildings like the bazaar, knight academy, and the Lumpy Pumpkin are built above-ground and have varying kinds of roofs, from wood to bamboo, to tented rugs.

Interior walls generally follow this pattern: the walls are painted (or possibly frescoed) with a primary color--it's not a solid color, but with a dappled 'paintbrush-stroke' pattern. Decorative stones or tiles of a contrasting color are placed in a horizontal wavy line in the bottom half of the wall and in another line near the ceiling.
At the base, is a layer of stones of a different color. Structurally, this is likely a foundational base on which the walls are constructed to protect them from groundwater damage, like in cob (a certain kind of mud-cement) house construction.

Buildings and rooms tend to be curvy or round and often have whimsical features built in, like the oven in the kitchen and the bird faucet and tiled round bathing pool in the bathroom of the Knight Academy. In houses, sinks and counters are sometimes built into the wall. This is another feature you see frequently in cob house construction.
In fact, the Skyloftian style of architecture seems to have taken heavy inspiration from cob house construction. Cob is a building material that is made of local mud with additives to turn it into cement with hay or grass mixed in. The cob is mounded up into the shape of the walls and sealed with sealant and plaster. It is very quick to construct cob buildings and they are highly customizable. Building made of cob tend to be whimsical--look up images and see for yourself.

Furniture is made with wood and often has decorative tiling, painting, or carvings in them.
In terms of decorations, the most common motifs are geometric designs, floral and plant designs, and bird-themed designs. Bright colors are preferred, and almost everything in the whole game, but especially in Skyloft, has a pink or purple tinge/undertone to it.

One thing Skyloftians love are ornate rugs. Every room and every house has a rug, usually multiple rugs. Each rug is unique, brightly colored, and usually geometric in design.

There is even an entire (unmanned) shop in the bazaar full of rugs and other textiles.

Other decorations you might find in homes and buildings are pots, vases, bottles, and plates with colorful designs

Lace, stuffed animals, decorative pillows

Turkish lamps, wall hangings, table placemats or a table runner

Mobiles and decorative ceiling hangings

Remlit tree

And some rooms/houses are themed, for example, Fledge's room has a tropical island theme.

Outdoors, the village is decorated with multi-colored banners, buntings, pinwheels, flags, and flowers.

Together all these things construct the aesthetic and style of Skyloft: rounded and curvy buildings, cob-style construction, geometric, floral and bird designs, bright colors, ornate rugs, pots, Turkish lamps, stained glass, wood carvings, and lots and lots of whimsy.

If Sky had a pet (loftwing doesn't count, that is a soul bonded critter), what do you think it would be?
Hmmmmm. If we’re going with the canon universe, remlit. There aren’t many other options lol.
If we’re opening it up to all animals: cat and lizard. He would love a senior cat that has low energy and can just chill with him on days when he can’t get out of bed, but will also demand to be fed so he has to get up a little bit lol. It’s a good balance. Fully projecting my cat there hehehe :).
But I think he’d also love a lizard. Building the tank and the environment is so fun, and watching a little guy walk around in there is super cool. Little guy!!!! He’d love a bioactive enclosure I think with live plants and bugs. He’d just be fascinated by every single aspect of it. I don’t have a specific lizard/reptile in mind, but maybe one that can live in groups of three. Sky is very sentimental and would love to have three little guys that represent him and his two partners 🫶💞✨

The LU boys and superstitions
Once again, I was thinking about things I grew up with/ learned about and applying it to the boys. I might add the colors and dark link later, I just couldn't think of any for them rn
Tw: mentions death
Fierce
Oh, he's so old he probably has a bunch he follows
He never leaves an empty rocking chair rocking.
He keeps any hanging horse shoes hung right side up (ends up so it's able to hold the luck)
Fierce also believes in wishing on shooting stars
First
Throwing salt over your left shoulder after you spill it
He will NOT wash clothes or clean things on new years day
Refuses to walk under ladders
Covering mirrors when someone dies in a building (stops them from becoming stuck in the mirror)
Four
Horseshoe hung up so the luck won't fall out
Breaking mirros is bad luck to him
He dosen’t have a whole lot, he thinks most wide spread superstitions are common sense
Hyrule
Ooooo boy
Faerie boy? He has some.
I think he's probably a summer /seelie fae so he probably has some superstitions around harvest time
Bottle trees keep away haints/ghosts/spirits
If your ear rings someone is talking about you
He HATES all horseshoes (iron is BAD for the fae), but if he must be near one, he would like it to be right side up
Legend
Breaking mirrors is bad luck
Rocking an empty rocking chair? No thanks, he's not inviting unknown spirits or death.
He keeps a mirror outside his house to keep away evil/the devil/ (demise??)
He eats black eyed peas on new years
He sweeps out the back door (never the front and NEVER when it's dark outside)
Will ward off evil with the three finger sign I always saw
Stays away from cross roads at night
Ravio
If you thought Legend had a bunch, Ravio has more
He has all of the one Leged has ofc
He also believes walking under ladders is bad
He covers mirrors AND stops clocks if someone passes away in his home
Holds his breathe while passing a grave yard
He always goes out the same door he came in through
He believes death comes in threes
He only walk beside his loved ones when going around a post never letting it go between them
Probably has many more
Sky
Not that superstitious actually. He tries to avoid breaking mirrors but not much else
Isn't a huge fan of black cats, but that's more because of nighttime remlits than anything
Time
By the end of his first adventure he has none
The superstitions he had believed were proven false over the years
Tries not to break mirrors but that's because he hates broken glass
Will participate in superstitions if someone he cares about asks. He knows it's out of love
Twilight
He dosen’t like empty rocking chairs that are rocking
He has a horseshoe hung up in his room to keep away bad dreams
Not too superstitious at heart, but so many people in his town are that it is basically habit for him
Warriors
Knocks on wood to keep from jinxing himself
Dosen’t gift knives to loved ones because he dosen’t want to sever the relationship
Wild
He remembers a few but isn't too superstitious
Likes four leaf clovers for luck though!
And he dosen’t clean on new years
Wind
He will knock on wood
He also likes to pick up a green rupee for luck! (Originally a penny)
He also probably wants a luck rabbit's foot

Apotheosis chapter 1: Prologue: a Portal on Skyloft
THE DAY IS HERE!!! tumblr still refuses to let me use the link tool, but the fic is linked above :3
here we go- Apotheosis, chapter 1: Prologue: a Portal on Skyloft
chapter summary:
A portal appears on Skyloft. Link meets a strange group.
preview under the cut!!
“Link!”
Link’s ears perked as he turned around. Zelda, bright and cheery, waved an arm at him. Her lips were parted in a grin, revealing the smile that Link adored.
He couldn’t help but return the expression. “Zel,” he greeted, eyes crinkled. She stopped in front of him, and he took her hands in his. “Hi, sunshine.”
She giggled. “Link,” she repeated, eyes full of love and adoration. His reflected the same sentiment.
They had been through a lot together. When they were just eighteen, Zelda had been stolen, and— to make a long story short— Link went on a long adventure to rescue her. All turned out alright in the end, of course, and now, two and a half years later, they were happy as can be. Together, they were working toward building a life on the surface world, far below the floating island of Skyloft.
“We’ve received word from the surface settlement,” Zelda continued, squeezing Link’s hands.
His eyebrows raised, then furrowed. “Oh? Is everything alright?”
Zelda nodded. “Better than. Captain Ilan said their supplies are looking good. With a few more men, they could expand and create a new settlement within the year!”
“Really?” Link’s heart seemed to skip a beat. He knew their surface settlement was doing well, but he didn’t realize it was doing that well. This could change life as they knew it. “How many men do they need?”
Zelda’s expression fell. “More than we have,” she replied, pressing her lips into a thin line. “We can only fulfill half of what they asked for, and that’s if we cut down the night guard.”
Link frowned. Monster sightings on Skyloft had always been rare, but lately they were getting more and more reports. It started with just Chus and Keese, then a few Bokoblin and Moblin sightings. But now, even the Remlits were getting aggressive— multiple Skyloftians had been sent to medical, because of bites from the usually friendly creatures.
“What about the new grads?” Link suggested. “Once they finish their schooling, we’ll have— what, seven new knights?”
Zelda nodded. “Eight. Along with a few from the night guard, that should be enough for the new settlement.”
“Good,” Link sighed, smiling. “Could you let Ilan know?”
“I’ll write him tonight,” Zelda decided. A smile crossed her lips. “Link, I’m so glad this is working out. The surface settlement, I mean.”

DAILY BRAINROT
I got jump scared by a pedestrian on my way to get groceries because I was thinking about this, and I don't have a good excuse because I am also a pedestrian.
Adding a "half out of control ADHD" disclaimer on this one.
I have been seized by the brainrot, and it is holding me hostage until I finish writing out Legend and Wild meeting for the first time in the vigilante AU, and that's why the next chapter of poor Hyrule's fic hasn't been touched today.
Legend gets to be happy in this AU because I think he's earned it. He's been around for like... basically forever, so he gets to have all the friends he wants. I am aggressively improving his quality of life here. I went to the effort of finding him a sandwich recipe (and honestly might try it myself because it looks tasty).
Back to the point, which is that I was thinking about what powers everyone would have in this AU when I was going to get groceries. It's a very tough question, and the fact that my area of expertise in high school was Marvel is not helping because there are too many options to pick from. So I only managed to work out the abilities for two of the boys so far, which is half the reason why I'm making Wild and Legend play nice with each other today.
Long story short, I decided Wild should actually get a copy-and-paste ability AND I HAVE A GOOD REASON, OK. I love love love the idea that the Shrine of Resurrection's Sheikah Juice stuff is actually liquid information and since I can, I figured why not just replace his blood with it or something?? It's fanfiction I can do what I want. So now Wild has blue Shrine Juice blood and is sort of partly like a computer I guess, which means he has the ability to copy "files" and store them in his "system memory." Which... actually kind of explains the amnesia, I guess. Had to delete a few "files" (memories) to make space for the new "files" (abilities/powers). Obviously I've got to put a limit on him otherwise he'd be WAY TOO POWERFUL, so I'm thinking that each "file" either has a cool-down period of 1x every 24 hours or he has to pick 1 power to use for each 24-hour period. This explains how the Champions' gifts and the abilities from TotK work, and it makes me feel Very Smart.
Legend is actually pretty boring in comparison. I didn't really want to have to pick between his numerous items, so I gave him a very basic enhancement ability with an emphasis on speed and agility in the legs so he can run around on top of buildings and do parkour. His power isn't anything special, it's how he uses it that's actually interesting because he's had to make up for being Very Vanilla. It DOES let him keep up with most people, though, with few exceptions. And I like this because I think it kind of does reflect on how he's not really a special person by himself and that his being interesting comes from his experience and knowledge and inventory. He's the guy who's been everywhere, done everything, and knows everyone, and that's where a surprisingly large amount of his flavor comes from.
I have a rough idea for Sky, but I'm not completely sold on anything for him, yet (because of the whole deal with Demise and all). I'm extremely tempted to make him think he's a normal guy when he just uses his Terrifying Prophetic Abilities in his sleep. Like, he thinks he probably sleepwalks so he tells Twilight and Warriors when he moves in and the first week goes okay, but then for the second week he is walking in his sleep and doing Crazy Shit while spitting out Creepy Prophecies about stuff. It's concerning, and they're trying to figure out how to tell Sky to go to therapy because he is An Absolute Ray of Sunshine during the day. (Maybe he just has remlit powers?)
Legend gets to be happy in this AU because I think he's earned it <- OBSESSED WITH THIS.
COPY AND PASTE ABILITY. I LOVE IT.
REMLIT POWERS ALSKDKDKD
dude oh my GOD i fucking love all your au’s so much, the insane amount of detail you put in em???? I eat it up every goddamn time. thank you for bestowing upon me your brainrot every day 🙏

Sky was trudging along in the back of the group, paying more attention to the slight rattle his chest was giving than the conversation that was flowing around him. He was brought out of his thoughts by a pelt getting draped across his shoulders. He jumped in surprise and turned to see that Twilight had snuck behind him and was directing a softly concerned look at him. His ears flushed as he remembered that he had seen that look mostly directed and Wind and Hyrule when they went to grab seconds and Wild hadn’t made that much food that night, it had also popped up once or twice directed towards the Vet and the Captain.
Sky had never been the one on the other end of it before. He went to tell Twilight that he was fine but what came out instead was a full body, headache inducing cough. Before he could finish standing back up from his folded over crouch, he felt his feet leave the ground as strong, but gentle hands held his back and legs off the ground.
“Alrigh, that’s enough walkin outta you today, I’ll be handlin it from ‘ere.”
Before Sky could protest the Vet threw his hands in the air.
“Finally! You sounded like a leaking octo-balloon and looked ready to drop and take a nap in the dirt.”
The scowl on Legend face and his now crossed arms couldn’t hide the worry lines on his head and Sky felt the familiar mixture of guilt and fondness. He was glad that the group cared about him so much they would stop him from walking just because his lungs weren’t cooperating today, yet guilty that they had to stop for him in the first place. Before those thoughts could latch onto Sky, Twilight started moving and His face was pushed in the ridiculously fluffy pelt. Seriously, how did he keep this thing from constantly being matted down with blood and dirt? Was he using magic? Sky didn’t know but was happy to nuzzle his face in the nice texture while all he had to focus on was breathing.
When Sky opened his eyes again (when did he close them?) He saw that they were in a clearing looking up at a tree . . . that was also a house? He shook his head to see if that could clear things up, but nope, still a tree with a door and a ladder. He felt Twilight’s chest rumble beneath him as he talked and he tuned in to what he was saying.
“...An while Y’all git settled I’ll take Sky with me t’ Sera’s n see if she’s got anythin fer ‘im.”
It took Sky’s sleep-addled brain a minute to realize Twi was talking about him and by that time they were already moving away from Twilight’s(?) house. Twi grinned down at him with sharp teeth that made him look like a remlit that had caught a butterfly.
“Y’awake now?” Sky nodded and Twilight paused to set him on his feet while keeping a supportive arm nearby. “Let’s git on then.”
They walked through a village that reminded Sky of skyloft despite the fact that no goddess statues or loftwings were around. Twilight was guiding him towards a building by the river when Sky heard a remlit cry. He tensed on instinct before looking at the bright sunshine around them and relaxing.
Twilight had already stopped and was bending down to look at the strangest remlit Sky’s ever seen. It’s ears were like a wider version of a hylian’s instead of being big enough to catch the air. It had a sleek tail rather than a big poofy one, and it’s eyes were wrong somehow. As he got closer he saw Twilight petting the thing and whispering in a high pitched voice at it.
Before Sky could question the strange behavior he heard a tiny Mew? Before 5 of the tiny weird remlit’s popped around the house and started crying when they tripped over the first one. Sky could swear he saw Twilight’s pupils go big like Wolfie’s do sometimes before he scooped up the first one and started moving towards the things.
Sky followed at a more cautious pace until he was only 2 steps behind the Rancher.
“What are those?” he asked in a carefully cheerful voice, since Twilight was over the moon to see these things. Twilight turned to him with the most excited face he had ever seen from the man. “Kittins! Would you like to hold one?”
Before Sky could answer he had a ‘kitten’ the size of his palm in his hand. It sneezed in the smallest voice Sky had ever heard and he felt his heart melt.
He was glad he had gotten to see these ‘kittens’
Here you go! (yes Twilight carried Sky in a bridal carry for 4 hours no problem)

If the Chain ends up in Skyloft, would that be one of the worst places for Warriors? Bright and sunny, Loftwings and remlits roaming around, Hylia/Zelda there, etc....
And which place would be the best/the place he likes the best for Warriors?
Skyloft would definitely be one of the worst places for him. Most of the shade comes from buildings and of all the Zeldas, Warriors is most scared of Sun because she's the closest to Hylia. Warriors would find a room and bunker down if they ended up in Skyloft and he'll do his best to hide. Now that I think about it, the presence of one demon was enough to make the remlits go crazy. Warriors probably has the same effect on them.
I think most of his favourite places tend to be indoors, especially where the rest of the chain lives because that makes him feel the safest. Wild has the big space under his stairs and Warriors would claim that all the time because there's no window. He can sleep as long as he wants without worrying about the sun. The same thing goes for Twilight's basement.
Outside, he favours forests. Trees provide shade and it feels safer than an open field.

Hey! I’m in a hug sksw mood lately, any spare headcanons or anything? Sorry to bug you lol
don't apologize!!!!!!! I love getting asks!! (i'm gonna mix headcannons and theories here)
- So after the events of Sksw, Link and zelda really like music and instruments, link tries to build new ones, zelda learns as many as possible
-one of the things link builds becomes the spirit flute from spirit tracks, and another the ocarina of time (since its hinted at in hyrule historia that it might be made of timeshift stones)
- If link tried, he'd be a good blacksmith, since he's got a good attention to detail with his woodcarvings
-i've mentioned this in another post, but that was a long time ago, so the scattershot? Gondo upgrades the catapult part, but link carves the new base to look like his loftwing
-speaking of the loftwing, link has separation anxiety
- when told to go to therapy, Ghirahim just gets a therapy dog, the people who want him to see someone arent happy abt it, but they can't hate the dog
-(theory) the old one in the beginning of the game says that zelda got to the surface wrong, meaning Hylia's original plan was for Link, Zelda, and Fi to explore together as friends
-(theory) SPEAKING of hylia's plan, i see a lot of stuff on youtube from zelda theorists about the time paradox in sksw, heres my take: Hylias plan is what happened in the past, nothing else until you alter it. like the fruit of life, it would be pretty dumb for hylia to plan for the dragon to almost die, right? hence why its not there at the beginning of the game
- (headcannon) the gerudo exist in sksw and ride those big snail-crab dudes in lanayru (the electric ones that roll at u)
-so when the statue of the goddess falls to the ground, there is still the secret area of remlits that fall with it, introducing remits to the surface. the bird population drops dramatically (THEY ARE F L Y I N G CATS)
-(Idea if they ever made zeldas story playable) how about mental dungeons??? like to unlock her powers, she goes through both the ones in sws, but also some mental ones to recover memories of hylia, also alongside impa, Hylia is the guide character in that game. (i know this contradicts my hylia is dead headcannon but hey game design man)
-Along with a sword, I think Zelda would use crossbows and lances, they have to teach other weapons besides swords in the academy, right?
-Karane's favorite species on the surface is the kiwkis, pipit's is the Parellas, Groose likes the tiny birds, Cawlin likes the mogmas, Stritch. well. yeah, and fledge likes the robots
-(ghirahim lives au) Ghirahim hates Yuga. he just does. his favorite of the following zelda villains is vaati, with zant not too far behind
-nobody tells zelda or ghirahim about the lumpy pumpkin chandelier. Pumm gives link the stink eye and they are just bewildered
-in lorule skyward sword, skyloft is an underground city, big moles replace loftwings, the surface is still called the surface, now with a different meaning.
-I like the ghirahim is lorules master sword theory because its funny and cool, but it would be like 100x funnier if ghirahim was just teleporting between lorule and hyrule during sws cause sws ravio was calling on him
EDIT: how could I forget!
-Ghirahim just keeps showing up and people get tired of telling him to leave so he just hangs out
#ballad i literally love to ramble about this game you have no idea#longpost.#skyward sword#loz#headcannons

God, Sky would repawn back in Skyloft, even if everyone's down on the surface and there is literally nothing up there besides empty buildings and remlits. Boy just wakes up in his room after death covered in 8-10 remlits
he wakes up, sees he's in his dusty old room and covered in remlits and just goes "this might as well happen" and goes back to sleep. if it's gonna take him 2 days to get back to the others a tiny nap won't hurt

Here are some more SS au headcannons because I just really like the concept okay?
-Residents of Shintaro-
Cole’s dad owns a theatre on another small island, Cole moved to the knight academy because he didn’t want to be stuck on a stage for the rest of his life.
Dr. Julien is an instructor at the academy. He teaches about engineering. Which both Nya and Jay love. Zane is just happy he gets to learn from his dad.
Dr. Julien also has one of the guys get his Remlit from the roof in the beginning.
Ray and Maya own a blacksmith shop on Shintaro, but the forge is located on Ignacia island. Ray makes the weapons and tools at the forge while Maya sells them at the shop. They make all the knights equipment, as well as most of the tools in general, as Shintaro doesn’t exactly have many blacksmiths.
When they’re low on staff, or time, usually Kai or Nya(or both) will help out at the shop or forge.
Ed and Edna are mechanics, but also help with various construction projects around Shintaro. They live on an island and house most of the resources for buildings and stuff. It’s essentially a junk yard. But in the sky.
Jay doesn’t like having to go there for parts with his classmates, but he secretly loves that his parents’ place is so well-known.
Ed also owns a shop at the bazaar, but he spends a lot of time trying to get his dad’s old robot to work.
Lloyd’s dad is the headmaster at the knights academy after being promoted by the last headmaster after he retired. He and Lloyd live at the academy. Lloyd is also enrolled at the academy, however, he won’t graduate for another year.
Cyrus Borg is a well-known mechanic in Shintaro. He owns an island where most of Shintaro’s machines and such is created.
Shintaro is a bit more advanced than Skyloft was in Skyward Sword.
Skylor works at the bazaar too. She takes the place of Peatrice(is that how it’s spelled?) Though I can’t decide if she owns a storage place like in Skyward Sword or a noodle shop. Feel free to let me know what you think she does!
Pythor works at the general store or whatever. You know that guy who’s all happy and always smiling at you, but when you turn your back he just glares? And he has a nighttime shop at his house where you can sell him stuff? Yeah, that’s Pythor.
Mystake is also an instructor at the academy. She teaches history. You know how near the beginning of Skyward Sword you can go see one of the teachers and he’ll tell you a little about history and such. Yup, that’s her.
Mystake also owns a tea shop. Her employee runs it during the day, but if you go at night when she runs it, she sells some strange teas...
After they start their quest, the guys will often go to Chen for a fortune telling just because. They are surprised when most of his fortunes are actually true.
Kai often goes to the bazaar to try and woo Skylor. She likes him too, but enjoys watching him act all sauve(at least he thinks he is).
Nya can and will beat one of the guys in sparring. She would probably graduate before them if not for the wing ceremony.
The ceremony itself is basically a way to graduate and become a knight a few months before the actual graduation.
Speaking of the wing ceremony...Have you guys heard of the Wing Ceremony? Because we’re here to remind you that the Wing Ceremony is today and if you don’t practice for the Wing Ceremony you might not win the Wing Ceremony but you have to find your loftwing before the Wing Ceremony or else they will start the Wing Ceremony without you better hurry up.......Did we mention that today is the day of the Wing Ceremony?
Yeah, Kai’s about to beat the crap out of the next person who mentions the Wing Ceremony...unless it’s Lloyd, in which case he’ll just lightly whack him on the head.
Chen(movie Chen)hides Cole’s loftwing, Rocky.
Zane has dreams about Pixal, but after Lloyd is taken, all four of them have that one dream.

Chapter 1: For the Want of a Breath - A Sky Asthma fic
Here it is, folks, the Sky Asthma fic I’ve been hinting at for a few weeks. It started off as a Whumptober Day 5 fic but quickly grew too large and became its own fic. I have a bunch of chapters written and will be posting them over the next few weeks.
(( @skyloftian-nutcase and @squigglywindy I know you guys expressed interested in this one.))
Read it here or on AO3: For the Want of a Breath
*** Chapter 1: Secret Weakness ***
Sky hoped it wouldn’t come to this.
He sat on his bedroll at the edge of the camp, back facing the other heroes, some still asleep, others pretending to be, and a few were absent completely. It was early morning, just before the sun rose, and the world was bathed in a pale purplish light. The chilly air wrapped its tendrils around Sky, seeping through the gaps in the blanket draping over his shoulders.
He stared at the bottle in his hand, filled only one-third with blue potion. It was normally enough to last him about five days, but with the way things had progressed—how long could he make it last? How long did he need it to last? Normally, when he got this low, he’d start rationing it out, one dose every other day until he could get back to Skyloft; but his symptoms, they’d been building over the last week or so, although he hadn’t noticed it until yesterday afternoon. And now he was to the point where it felt like there was an invisible remlit sitting on his chest—
“You’re up early,” Warriors voice addressed him in hushed tones so as not to wake the others. Sky dropped the bottle in the gap between his crossed legs and he twisted around to look up at Wars with deliberately half-lidded eyes and a sleepy yawn. Clean-shaven, freshly dressed, and carrying his bathing items, Wars had apparently returned from washing up at the lake’s edge.
Despite his projected sleepy countenance, Sky’s heart raced with guilt and anxiety. What could he say in reply that wouldn’t be suspicious? He hummed and blinked slowly while his mind raced with potential responses, settling on one after a few seconds.
“Had a nightmare,” he murmured. Truth was, sure, he’d woken up gasping for breath, but it wasn’t from a nightmare. It was from his asthma. Sitting up for a few minutes had already calmed his breathing and settled the desperate suffocating feeling in his chest, but he knew, he wouldn’t be able to lay down and sleep again.
“What was it about? If you don’t mind me asking?” Wars asked, kneeling down to put his stuff away in his bag.
“Uhh... I can’t remember much now,” Sky said looking away as if distracted and he made something up on the fly. “Giant flying centipedes I think?”
“Ooh,” Warriors grimaced. “I can imagine that’d be disturbing. All of those legs on your skin—” He shivered and closed his bag. Sky listened closely as Wars stood up, carefully picked his way through the rest of the sleeping heroes, and thumped down on a log by the fire. The way the grunted quietly as he sat made Sky wonder if his legs or back were hurting him again. Still facing away, and slightly afraid to look, Sky wondered how visible the front of him was to Wars and if he could pick up the bottle again or if it needed to stay hidden between his legs.
“Well, if you’re up… do you want some tea?” Warriors asked.
“Hmm. That would be nice.” Sky answered and yawned, for effect. He dared to steal a longing glance at the potion hidden away underneath the fabric of his pantlegs and the blanket he now hugged tighter around himself. There was a sound of a ladle in the pot and moments later, Warriors stood beside him holding out the tin mug of tea.
“Be careful. It’s hot.”
“I will,” Sky said. As Warriors turned back and returned to his seat, Sky took the opportunity to surreptitiously pour a little of the potion into his mug and restowed it back in its secret pocket in his bag as quickly as he could. He hoped the heat of the tea wouldn’t break down the medicine’s potency.
Sky turned so that he was facing Warriors and the rest of the camp, and out of habit, started a mental headcount. He and Warriors were the only ones in camp who were upright. Hyrule slept soundly curled up against Legend’s side, who lay on his back reading a book. Wind stirred, venturing to raise his head with rosy cheeks and red eyes and looked at Sky and Wars before dropping his head back down and burying his face in Wolfie’s fur. That left… Four, Wild, Time, and Twilight not present.
“Where are the others?” Sky asked. He inhaled deeply and quietly as he could to offset the building stale-air feeling in his lungs.
“The Old Man’s getting dressed, Twilight went for a patrol or something, Four said he needed some alone time and wandered off that way, and Wild’s… well…” Warriors looked sidelong at the lake down the hill from their camp. “While I was down there, I found all of his clothes on a rock on the shoreline. I heard some splashing coming from somewhere, so I can only assume that he’s swimming. Maybe catching fish. So be careful if you go down to the lake. There’s no telling what you’ll see.”
Heh. Business as usual then. The early birds were awake and the sleepyheads still down for the count. Except for himself of course. Sky hoped no one would question too hard when they saw him up before half the Chain. But even if they did, his excuse would hold. No one in their crew was exempt from having nightmares, not even Sky.
Sky sipped the tea. The intensity of the sudden acidity and bitterness exploded on his tongue. He quickly pulled away the mug from his lips and squinted at the dark brew. Why was this so strong? Who made the tea? He took another sip, and it was just as strong as the first, with the slightest hint of blue potion. If he hadn’t poured the potion in there, he would have dumped half of the tea out and added water to weaken it, but that wasn’t an option now. He was just going to have to suffer through the tea and hope it wouldn’t upset his stomach. Sky took another sip and tried not to grimace.
He should have known this was coming.
It had been a few months since he’d had an asthma flare up, and he was well overdue for another. He thought back to all the signs he’d ignored over the previous week or two: the inexplicable urge to yawn more than usual, even if he wasn’t tired, the need to inhale deeply and sigh without an obvious cause, that feeling in his chest at the bottom of a breath that there wasn’t quite enough air there, getting unusually out of breath when climbing slopes… He’d dismissed these early symptoms rationalizing that he was just tired from that battle yesterday, or it was because they were at a lower altitude than he was used to or it was just allergies or a minor cold.
But it wasn’t, was it?
Sky hated his asthma. It was his embarrassing weakness. He was a hero! He defeated Demise! And yet, he sometimes had trouble with the most basic task of being alive: breathing!
He’d mostly kept it on the down-low from his fellow heroes. He usually tried to hide it when he took his medicine in the morning, but now and then he’d been caught. He’d mention offhand how it helped him breath better at lower elevations but he never went into detail. One time, Legend had pried and Sky admitted to having asthma, but the only thing that came from it was that Legend made him promise to speak up if it got bad, and he also told Time. But other than that, no one knew.
It was better that way.
Better to keep his weakness a secret, better that he didn’t slow the others down, better that they didn’t have to pick up the slack for him or cover for him. And as long as Sky did everything right—taking his medicine and avoiding his triggers—his asthma wouldn’t be a problem.
Probably.
The Goddess had so far been mindful and considerate of Sky’s little… liability. In the past, when he’d run low or run out of blue potion, she would supply a portal that would take them back to Skyloft, allowing Sky to restock. Once, after he’d completely run out, she’d even sent a portal just for him. At the time, he was separate from the others, scouting out a ruined village, when the portal appeared. Passing through it, he found himself at home. He was graciously given an hour or two to restock his supplies and meet up with Zelda, before another portal appeared to return him to where he’d left from.
It had been quite a while since they’d been back to Skyloft and Sky was itching to return. Any day now, he expected a portal would appear and take all of them—or even just him—back to Skyloft. He just had to bear with it and trust Hylia. She’d always taken care of her Chosen One in the past, and he knew she would take care of him in the future too.
That being said… he couldn’t help but worry. Just a little bit.
“You’re looking… pensive,” Warriors ventured. “Rupee for your thoughts?” Sky looked up from his mug.
“Oh what? You’re talking to me?” Sky stammered. “Oh, uh, I uh—” Sky stumbled over his words, but he was saved by their elder reentering the camp.
“Rise and shine, boys,” Time said.
“Noooooo!” Wind groaned. “I want sleeeeeep.” Wolfie nuzzled his hair and licked his face. Wind hid his face with his blanket and whined again. Wolfie made a little noise, pawed at the blanket and then nipped the edge and pulled it out of Wind’s hands.
“Wolfieeeeee!!!” Wind tried to pull the blanket back but Wolfie crawled forward on top of Wind and started licking his face. Wind giggled and pushed away Wolfie’s snout. “Fine! I’m awake! Go bother someone else!” Wolfie stopped licking and huffed a puff of air in Wind’s face before he stepped off and ambled over to Hyrule and Legend.
“Hey guys! I got fish!” Wild said cheerfully as he approached the camp. He carried a spear impaled with nine fish as he trotted up the slope, stark naked. Sky and several other Links looked up only to immediately avert their eyes with giggles or groans.
“Oh, geez!” Warriors exclaimed. “Wild! You forgot something!”
“Ahh!” Wild squealed, looking down. “Sorry! Be back soon!” He scurried away back down the slope.
Sky looked away with a grin he tried to suppress. He was hit with a pang a happiness and he relished the moment—him and all of his brothers all together and all safe and happy on this lovely morning on this grand adventure they were on…
He’d hate to lose it.

So Skyward Sword!
Overall, I really liked it! The world is so beautiful to look at. Each area is so colorful and bright (with the exception of the Lanayru Mining Facility, but that changes when you use the timeshift stones). I enjoyed all the characters, and I liked all the different tools needed to solve puzzles and obstacles. The story was beautiful. Link’s smile is the best thing in the world. Groose’s character development, Sweet Hylia! Zelda’s genuine care for Link and Impa, and even Groose by the end. I love how the Gorons are scholars in this game, that’s so refreshing. Kikwis and the little robots are soooo cute. I teared up saying goodbye to Fi. THE MUSIC!!!
There are a few things that bugged me though. There’s a lot of “Your princess is in another castle!” stuff going on chasing Zelda. It was mentally exhausting constantly going back and forth from each section of the map back to Skyloft, back to another section, back to Skyloft, etc etc. It does feel sometimes like the story keeps stopping and starting because you have to keep restocking potions or find a Goddess Chest or fulfill a side quest every time you go to Skyloft. Also, I kept getting dragged everywhere for all these little pieces to find. Find Zelda. Find the three sacred fires. Find all these missing song pieces. No, we won’t actually answer any questions directly, why would we do that? There was a point I completely forgot my goal of finding the location of the Triforce. Like, you’re so focused on finding the pieces you lose focus as to why you need them in the first place. Also, time travel is confusing. Is this a time loop? Did we actually change history? I’m still not sure. Please, no more time travel. It’s too complicated and no one is consistent with their rules.
AND OF COURSE, the same thing I’ve been complaining about since the beginning, the motion controls. I was partially right in my very first post, in that a lot of it is something you just get used to. Yes, you do frequently have to “Reset Gyro” to get them working right, but it’s not usually too much of a problem. Flying got way better the more I did it. The biggest problems I had were with the bow & arrow and Skyward Strike. I felt like the bow & arrow shifted when you needed it most (the gust bellows did this to me a lot too, but rarely was it a time sensitive issue). And I always need to reset before a Skyward Strike. This wasn’t a problem when finding Goddess Cubes or sacred symbols or whatever. But when you have to rely on it in a boss battle, this gets super frustrating super fast. Granted, there are only two boss battles you need the Skyward Strike for, but it’s so exhausting. You really work up a sweat with those battles. And that last battle with Demise is a Doozy because of that Skyward Strike (don’t get me started on the fatal blow thing, just don’t). It took me two days to beat him (that’s probably more of a sign of how bad I am at video games than anything else) but my arm was really in pain by the end, and even the next day my shoulder is still sore. I don’t know if anyone else had the problem or if I just suck, but it did make it hard to bask in the glory when I finally did beat him.
But would I play this game again? Absolutely! But next time, I think I’ll try using the normal controllers instead of the motion controls. Will it be easier? I don’t know, but it will at least be less painful.
Other things to note:
- I was right about Karane and Pipit, I was right! >:D I did look up online about the toilet ghost choice after I gave Cawlin’s letter to Karane, and I’m glad I didn’t. As funny as the toilet ghost falling in love with Cawlin is, I’d feel bad for cursing him with nightmares forever, even if I don’t like him.
- So apparently the remlits aren’t evil? I only found this out after I finished the game, because according to the internet, it’s finishing the Batreaux side quest that stops the evil influence, but since finishing that quest was the last thing I did before I went to get the Triforce, I didn’t see the remlits become good again.
- I gave Fledge his self-esteem!! Mission accomplished!!... And then he uses that self-esteem to scam me out of money with that pumpkin shot game with that dreaded bow & arrow, and then passive-aggressively criticize my marksmanship. Excuse you, I made you!!
- UNPOPULAR OPINION!!! I kind of ship Link with Peatrice. I think her crush on him is really cute, but he’s just a little dense to get it. (Also her dad is a little creepy to me. Just a little). Of course, Link and Zelda in this game are clearly meant to be, and they absolutely love each other, but Peatrice is still cute, and she never used me as a tool against a god of evil. So you know, she’s got that going for her.
- In the end credits, we do get to see snippets from Zelda’s part of the journey. No dialogue, but it was really nice to see. She looks so nervous and scared, but also determined, carrying her harp into the wilderness. But seriously, did Old Lady Impa not think to give her a weapon of some kind on her journey? The girl’s all alone and Ghirahim is after her, some means of defense would have been appreciated, I’m sure!
- Zelda’s loftwing just abandons her, by the way. We see it fall with her below the clouds, but it doesn’t come back until the after credit scene. Coward.
- Speaking of the loftwings, I was surprised at how under utilized they are. In the beginning, they talk about how loftwings are the other half of your soul, and how important your bond is with your loftwing, but after Zelda falls through the clouds, the loftwings are basically just glorified horses. They don’t hold any weight within the story. There’s lots of bird statues and engravings EVERYWHERE, so culturally they did hold importance even before the war, but they have no direct influence on the story except as transportation. Missed opportunity.
- The Lanayru Desert fascinates me. It’s never explained how the timeshift stones actually power things, but it’s such a cool game mechanic to hit a stone and suddenly you’re in the past. It also makes me wonder what happened between the war and Link and Zelda’s era. How long was it between these two places in time, because it would take a lot of time and some major events to change a grassland and a sea into a desert. And this means all those little robots are still there after all this time, it just makes me so sad! :’( I really want to know all that history of what was before the war and the time between the war and Link and Zelda. Also, the Lanayru dungeons have that same piano tinkle as when you chase Vah Rudania with Yunobo in BOTW, and that music. Stresses. Me. Out.
- So of all the different species and peoples of Hyrule, the only ones that survive through all 10,000+ years of the timeline are the Hylians, Sheikah (I’m not sure if they count as a separate species from hylians, or they’re just a different tribe), and the Gorons. The kikwis, the mogma, the robots, and the parellas never show up in any other game, so I guess they all just died out before the next Hero rises. That’s really sad!! (I don’t know if the parellas eventually evolve into zora, but the rest are still sad).
- The Imprisoned looked so much scarier in Link’s vision. But when he first emerges and he has no arms, he lost all that intimidation. Even when he grew arms and started flying, he wasn’t that scary. A pain in the butt to deal with all three times, but not scary. Then we just dropped a building on him Wizard of Oz style. Wow, Demise, you suck. If it wasn’t for Ghirahim’s stupid dance ritual, he really wouldn’t have been a threat.
So yeah, there are my thoughts!
#skyward sword spoilers#skyward sword#link#zelda#i had such a fun time and i'm sad it's over#but my shoulder is thankful

It’s hard to factor in her light magic because she knows what she’s doing and how to summon it once she regains all of her memories, however during her journey she had a tough time controlling it. While not as powerful when she was Hylia, it’s still far more potent than other light magic users since essentially she’s divine... just... mortal. Hobbies: She adores crafting, knitting, sewing, embroidery and making tiny accessories, flying is a past time she loves but she adores exploring new places on the ground even more. Hiking... yes, sword play, reading because god damn she’s a book worm and writing in her journal. Animal: Birds... BIRDS FOR SURE YEAH and remlits

thinking about some post SwS family headcanon things
Kind of all over the place lol
I think Peatrice & Groose would have kids early on. they're the couple that's like holy f we just graduated high school and you're getting married and NOW SHE'S PREGNANT? (they have a gender neutral child and a baby)
Karane and Pipit wait for a few years because they're both working as knights. Pipit becomes a stay at home dad. People say "oh yes he deserves a break" but it is not by any means any easier or less time consuming than school & nightshift (Son, only child)
Zelda and Link wait the longest. They have a lot of guilt about “a curse will follow your bloodline” or whatever but they do eventually realize there's no way to stop it. So they either raise their own kid as a couple (zelink) or Link acts as donor and third parent for Zelda and Fi (Zelfi/ghiralink). Ghirahim and Link have a cat and that's basically their child. It's Link's remlit and Ghirahim doesn't get along with her at all. She doesn't have a name yet but I've used her as scene building twice. (Daughter, cat)
2 genders? There are actually 5. Daughter, son, gender neutral, baby, and cat
None of these kids have names (OCs??? In 2021?? It's more likely than you think. God I haven't made a serious OC since 2015) but I have drawn ideas for the Proose and Kipit Peatrice/Groose and Karane/Pipit kids. Some ships..... Should just Not have ship names.... Parane? Karipit? Greatrice? Peagroose? Nothing sounds right
#ignore this#i did it guys i cracked the code#if i post here and reblog to the zelda blog#i can use tags for organization without the post ending up under the main tag!!!#i just feel like intensely AU things don't belong under the main tag but I still want to be able to search for it on my blog#cherryskywriting
