The main Wilderness School was a simple brown and black building, similar to college dorms in style due to its many stories and various shared boarding rooms. There were three buildings in total, the actual school which was three levels, the dorm rooms and a third building used as a health centre and cafeteria. In short, it was industrial, and almost jaillike - fitting considering most of the residents were either running from jail or well likely to be on their way to jail. 

It was awful, but it had been Leo’s home for 3 weeks and Piper’s for 2. They stood side by side as they stared at the buildings, at the square windows and the beech trees that spanned the school grounds. “Huh.” Piper mumbled as she rubbed at her arms, the hairs on the back of her neck standing up. It was creepy to be here, especially now that it was essentially abandoned. Leo hummed in response before speaking. “This place is the same as it ever was.” 

Piper looked at him. His face was neutral, no hard set lines or furrowed brow. His hair was shorter than usual - a mishap at his barbershop he had explained when she had picked him up the day before from the bus terminal. He was wearing his army jacket like always along with a grey henley t-shirt and his usual pair of grease stained jeans. Piper herself was in leggings and a faded band tee as well as an old hoodie she had thrown on top. 

The roadtrip to Armpit, Nevada wasn’t planned let alone the drive up to Wilderness School, so they had honestly thrown on whatever clothing was possible, grabbed their separate backpacks of food and clothes and loaded their stuff into Piper’s 2015 Nissan Leaf - an affront to humanity according to Leo who had recently opened his own mechanics shop. “I feel like we’re at the viewing for a funeral.” Piper said and Leo snorted. “Here lies the Wilderness School for Troubled Kids. It was a prison for all and a friend to none. There will be lemon squares in the lobby.”

Piper turned and punched him in the arm before rolling her eyes. “They wouldn’t have lemon squares. They would have like cheese and butter sandwiches or some shit.” Leo hummed in response. “Alright let’s get going Pipes. This is making me depressed - more than usual.” Leo joked, and Piper rolled her eyes again. He grabbed her hand and they walked back to the car.

“I’m glad you came with me.” She said as she slid into the driver’s seat. Leo grinned before squeezing her hand. “Glad I did too.”

Meet the Jacksons

Someone made the mistake of sending @bunkernine / @caiprisa a request for a Meet the Robinsons AU as a joke. And maybe if I didn’t love that movie so much as a child, I would have been content with just our conversation about Leo as Lewis/Cornelis, but I had an alternate plot-bunny since some major characters just didn’t fit right.  So without further adiu, here’s Meet the Jacksons.   

Annabeth never knew her father.   As far as the group home was concerned, he might not have even known she existed. And while that hurt, she’s destined for great things, she’s going to build something so permanent that no one will ever be able to ignore her again.  

Luke Castellan was taken by child services after someone reported his mom for child neglect.   He doesn’t blame them.  He’d be the first to admit that she’s terrifying when she’s in a fit.  However, he can blame his dad who left him in this mess. He can also blame the excitable group home girl who insists despite his many failings that his dad actually cares about him.    Because he tried to be everything so that his father couldn’t ignore him and that wasn’t enough.  He’s never done anything for himself, just potential glory for a man who never notices him, and that’s enough to turn anyone bitter.  

The Kronos Prototype was ditched early on in the great Annabeth Chase’s quest to make a hat that turned the wearer completely invisible.   It was temperamental with a mind of its own.  It seeks to destroy its inventor and the world she’s created. And now it’s found the perfect accomplice.  

Estelle Jackson knew better than to leave the garage open.  She should have told someone as soon as she realized the guy with the big scar over his eye had stolen one of Aunt Annabeth’s time machines.  But Estelle can handle this problem herself, so she follows him back in time to the moment of the Goode Middle School science fair, the moment that by all means should change everyone’s life for the better.  

Annabeth has been working for months on a device that will allow the wearer to view their own memories.   She’s spent countless hours studying the brain chemistry and an endless amount of theory.  This might be her only chance to remember what her mother looks like so she can find her, her father or just someone who will love her unconditionally.  

Percy Jackson’s project for the science fair is an absolute mess.  He put in more effort than Dakota with his model of Mount Vesuvius or Clarisse’s fire ant farm.   But no one is going to believe that his fish translator is actually real.  Smelly Gabe accused him of just recording a bunch of sounds then yelled at him for daring to interrupt his poker game.   And it certainly was less impressive to demonstrate on a goldfish than the animals at the aquarium where Sally worked nights as part of the custodial staff.  

Sally Jackson stumbled across the love of her life picking up her son from his science fair.  It isn’t a traditional love story by any means but she’s never been limited by the traditional.   She also had no way of knowing that she would meet the twelve year old would hold the key for getting rid of her abusive husband.  Annabeth’s Medusa-ray is only a prototype, but it certainly got the job done.  

If you’re aware of the plot of Meet the Robinsons, then you know that Estelle brings Annabeth to the future and Annabeth has the chance to see a family like the one she’s always wanted for herself.  This family includes:

Grandpa Chase, an overzealous professor who painstakingly recreates virtual diagrams of World War II fighter planes.

Uncle Leo, half of the Chase-Valdez duo, famous inventors who’ve dabbled in everything from teleportation to time travel.   His current pet project is a metal dragon butler named Festus.  

Aunt Piper, the spokesperson for Chase-Valdez Industries

Sally, a sweet woman who loves blue food a bit too much.  

Percy, the husband of the mysterious founder of Chase Industries, who takes great joy in how his translated recordings of whale choirs are helping raise money to protect the ocean with his conservationist partner, Uncle Grover.  

Aunt Thalia and Uncle Jason, who seemingly enjoy racing each other via jetpack more than anything else.  

Grandpa Chiron, who potentially has the best wheelchair known to mankind.
