Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: Friendship is Eternal, Love Changes
Since the movie closes with a scene on New Year's Eve, it has become my go-to movie for the holiday. From the moment I first watched it, it has made me happy, and even today, on gloomy days with a lot of snow outside, it comforts me. Indeed, I enjoy a low-key celebration, and the companions in this movie create just the right amount of ambience to make the day when the clock strikes twelve and another year goes by unforgettable.
In brief:
When Naina sees Aditi, an old friend from school, in the past, she finds out that she and her pals are going on a mountain hike. Naina makes the snap choice to join the expedition as well, not realizing that it will permanently alter her. Eight years later, old acquaintances reunite, and a wedding is scheduled for the near future.
Somehow, since he came up with the concept for Brahmastra, Ayan Mukherji's skill at writing women has decreased. Once upon a time, there was a certain assurance in the way he penned them, and they stood on par with the movie heroes, not merely relegated to the heroine role but endowed with fully realised personalities and nuance.
While it occasionally employs clichés, the movie is nonetheless a competent entertainment with plenty of commercial flair. It's also a great movie to watch if you're interested in Bollywood or Hindi cinema because it includes everything a family entertainer should have—dance, romance, and songs.
The film is a passable entertainment piece with a lot of commercial flare, despite the fact that it uses clichés from time to time. For those who enjoy Bollywood or Hindi cinema, this film is highly recommended as it has all the elements of a family-friendly film, such as romance, dancing, and musical numbers.
The Artist, the Dreamer, the Alcoholic and Gambler, and the Nerd. The movie examines these clichés, demonstrating how things evolve over time and how, although we may have known some individuals to be of certain kinds in the past, they are actually complex individuals with a darker side.
Deepika Padukone plays the nerdy medical student Naina Talwar, a woman on a quest who yearns for more out of life. She embodies the archetypal "gorgeous woman wearing adorable clothes and glasses." It follows her path from being an introverted person to a contented heroine who gradually breaks out of her shell. She is quiet and reserved in the first part of the story and confident as hell in the second, yet she still harbors the insecurities of a bashful young woman. She incorporates these commonplace facts into the fantastical world we are viewing, making her world seem believable.
Kabir "Bunny" Thapar, played by Ranbir Kapoor, is endearing and fantastic. He presents that dreamer from the upper middle class who doesn't have to consider his privilege too carefully on television. His dance prowess is on full display here as well. Even though I have very mixed feelings about Ranbir because of his recent work, which leans dangerously towards misogyny, I can always watch this movie again since I find him to be a charming character.
He just takes up the area he needs on screen because there are three other characters with their own arcs, so he doesn't overtake the frame. The screenplay ensures that he has enough room to play both the charmer and the quiet moments of focus while still keeping the other characters in the movie front and centre.
In her role as the artistic and rebellious Aditi "Adi" Mehra, Kalki Koechlin is simply amazing on screen. She brilliantly portrays how she fantasises about love while feigning strength. We recognize Aditya Roy Kapur as Avinash "Avi" Shiv Arora as the friend who consistently gets into trouble and has a dark side because we want to help him get on their feet but are unable to do so.
The late Farooq Shaikh, who plays Bunny's father, is a supporting character who gives a beautiful and moving performance. He uses so little to accomplish so much. Evelyn Sharma plays the incredibly naive and flirtatious adversary of Naina, Lara. She does a great job at bringing humor. In the second part of the film, Kunaal Roy Kapur, who plays a delightful character, also infuses the films with such amazing comedy.
All things considered, this is a decent rom-com and an enjoyable movie to see again for some nostalgia. Bollywood encompasses all one could ever wish and much more. There's something so endearing about it that someone will always identify with one of the characters. The songs are catchy and endearing. That truly is a modern classic!

You know, it’s real cute, how Kabir went from a shameless flirt who “didn’t have a heart” and was commitment phobic to a person who cried for a GIRL, who he loved so much, he was ready to give up his dream for and propose to her and finally commit to the relationship. So darn heartwarming and adorable <33333

GIF 2: A continuation of the previous gif, frustration increasing on Bunny's face as he gets angrier. The subtitles read, "It's not like talked every day, but at least she's not being so short with me."
GIF 3: Avi laughing humorlessly as he talks loudly. The subtitles read, "That's because Aditi has no expectations of you, Bunny!"
GIF 4: A shot of Bunny as Avi continues talking, his expression stricken. The subtitles read, "[She didn't even think you would come to her wedding.]"
GIF 5: Avi, gearing up in anger as he continues raging, gesturing jerkily to emphasize his anger. The subtitles read, "And why wouldn't she think that? You didn't even come to your own father's funeral."

Both Deepika and Ranbir reportedly started seeing each other during the shooting of the film, 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' in 2008. While they were in a relationship, the 'Padmavat' actor even got the initials of her boyfriend inked on her neck. However, after dating each other for almost a year, they both parted ways and Deepika tied the knot with Ranveer Singh in 2018. Speaking of 'YJHD', the romantic drama film revolved around a shy and nerdy medical student Naina Talwar, essayed by Deepika, who eventually falls in for her former classmate Kabir Thapar aka Bunny, essayed by Ranbir, during their hiking trip to the Himalayas. The film also starred Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur in pivotal roles. It was directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar and had hit the screens on May 31, 2013. On the work front, Deepika is currently shooting for Megha Gulzar's 'Chhapaak' while Ranbir is in Varanasi with Alia Bhatt for Ayan Mukerji`s 'Brahmastra'.

Here's a fun thing to do - name 1 (or more;) bollywood movie au for each of your otps! Basically which b movie's plot would you love to see them in (or would suit them most!)
Hi Bunnie!
How have you beeeeeeeen? Hope life’s being good to you!
Verrrrrrrrry interesting question. Took me quite a bit of thinking (it’s a brain-fog kinda day), and here’s what I came up with so far. I’m sure I’ll keep thinking about this more, and add to the list!
Shivaay/Anika:
Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke
Gender-reversed Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha
Khoobsurat (2014)
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.
Shivaay in the Alvira role, Anika in the Ricky role! (Mallika/Vikramaditya Thapar as their made-up love interests!)
Dil Dhadakne Do
Shivaay in Ayesha Malik role, Anika as the scrappy one-who-got-away journalist Sunny Gill
Omkara/Gauri:
Gender-reversed Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
Socha Na Tha
Riddhima as Om’s longterm girlfriend he thinks he’s in love with. Anika as his sweet and loving but bewildered and frustrated Bhaabi.
Jab We Met
Cheeni Kum
Just something about the vibe of the film suits them and their mellowness a lot!
Queen
Gauri meets Om somewhere on her solo travels through Europe; they meet back up in India months later and start a relationship! (Bonus: Svetlana in the Vijaylakshmi role!)
Rudra/Saumya:
Band Baaja Baaraat
Wake Up Sid!
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania
Arnav/Khushi:
Swades
Madhumati Bua as Arnav’s childhood nanny he wants to take back with him to the U.S.
Sumo/Shravan:
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
Hum Tum

not to make a post that exactly one follower will understand, but I’m rewatching Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and honestly...Bunny Thapar is really that bench who’ll commandeer an entire sound system and cue up a musical number to make his dramatic entrance at your wedding

'Sometimes, I am sunshine, sometimes whirly winds, sometimes a dark storm but mostly I am the rainbow after a catastrophe.'
I have grown up quicker as compared to the candles on my birthday cake. I am someone who's seen the vices of the world, and yet believes in a hopeful tomorrow. Sometimes, the belief flickers like an oil lamp, but that's collateral damage of growing up faster than usual.
Oh, I'm a full on Bollywood person. I will never admit to that. I'll act sophisticated and sassy (well, I'm all those things too) but in my heart, I'm a daydreamer & a hopeless romantic.
Zindagi lambi nahi, filmy honi chahiye.
I honestly give my suitors a lot of trouble with this sarcastic, witty side of me, but on the inside, I'm such a mush. I derive my serotonin doses by steaming "marriage proposal videos" on YouTube.
I put needs of my loved ones/generally others (even if I am stomped with my own stuff) above mine. I am compassionate regarding the littlest of things on the face of earth.
I have made sacrifices all my life & I'll do the same all over again, for a loved one, in a heartbeat.
I am a big supporter of anything that's "out-of-the-convention". I am a lover of art, music, literature, creative & anything that mocks the societal conventions. You'll find me volunteering/supporting any cause that's bashing to illogical rules against women.
You'll find me encouraging the men in my life to speak their heart. You'll find me supporting "human emotions" & the "need to let it all out" all the time. You'll find me advocating to the world that the most courageous man on this faith of the earth is the one who can be courageous enough to be emotionally vulnerable.
Biggest cheerleader for mental health & any talks/study/research about psychology or corporate litigation gives me kicks.
I believe in empathy & I inspire empathy. It's okay to feel, it's okay to lose, it's okay to love.
Funnily so, I totally believe in being the "jack of all trades" rather than "being the master of one."
I think 'being jack of all trades' is a badass thing to do. I think I am the jack of many trades, but the journey from 'many' to 'all' is a long one & that journey would be my learning in this life.
I love multitasking & shouldering responsibilities. I might get cranky sometimes (ugh, coz my fragile body gives up soon enough) but I'm a workaholic & I'm proud of it.
You'll find me contrasts in me. Huge ass contrasts. I am a person who's hooligan enough to dance on the biggest woofer in a club, just to feel the thump of rhythm underneath my feet. Or you'll find me sitting quietly & staring at the sunset, just marveling at the fact that I'm alive.
On some days, I'm weak and my thoughts are hazy. On others, I have a nerve of steel.
What would give me happiness in my life?
Well, I am incomplete. Somehow. I try to fill myself in with all this self love & positivity but there's something missing. All I need is a healthy, whole family, a good partner & most importantly, a great father...to fill that little void that has been there for ages.
Speaking strictly about me, I want to travel the world and no, I don't want to travel the world like Bunny Thapar from YJHD, but I want to travel for cuisines. I've immense knowledge about the same & I soooooooo wanna plunge in.
I am a dreamer dreaming for my dreams to come true.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Starring Deepika Padukone And Ranbir Kapoor Completes 6 Years And The Actors Celebrate It With Balam Pichkari Recreation Together
Tumblr media
In the year 2013, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has released and created quite a stir at the box office. Through the movie, it has been depicted by director Ayan Mukerji how friendship turns in to love. Ranbir Kapoor’s character has been named Kabir Thapar aka Bunny whereas Deepika has played the role of studious Naina.  Kabir is a fun loving adventurous person who goes to Manali for a vacation with his two friends Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechilin. During the trip, Bunny meets Naina who has been his old classmate also.
Following to the release of the movie, it has received great response from the audience. Some iconic songs have been part of the movie also. Here, we must mention the Holi song titled Balam Pichkari. It has been a song that is crooned by Vishal Dadlani and Shalmali Kholgade. For this song, Shalmali has won the award for best female singer at Filmfare also.
Now, 6 years have passed. In order to celebrate the achievement, both Ranbir and Deepika have made a goofy video together where they can be seen dancing on the song.  It seems that the video has taken within a vanity van during Star Screen Awards 2019. It is amazing to see Bunny and Naina in the same frame after such a long time.
In the background of video, you may able to hear the shouts from Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal also. There is no doubt in the fact that it is truly a magical song.
