"Yeah." Thomas said with a deep sigh, plopping down on his bed, taking off his boots and his trousers before sliding under the sheets.

"What's up? You look like shit. Everything all right?" Minho asked with a frown.

"Let's just say I had a rough night, okay?" 

"What's happened? You were fine when you left like what...two hours ago?"

"Nothing. I'd rather not talk about it, okay?" Thomas turned around to face the wall, closing his eyes, hoping his friend was going to leave him alone.

"No, it's not okay. You should see yourself, you look like a zombie. Just fucking tell me what happened, shank." Minho insisted.

"You wanna know what happened?" Thomas jumped out of his bed, starting to pace the little room like a lunatic with a grim look on his face. "I'm gonna tell you what happened, okay?" his voice was vibrating with emotion now. Minho wasn't sure whether his friend was about to burst into tears or to throw a tantrum.

"In the last one and a half hours I had a very emotional conversation with Kasey, then I kissed her and she kissed me back, making me a happy man but then she changed her mind and turned me down, 'cause she knows I'm nothing but a cheap fuckboy. And being the stupid asshole I am, I couldn't find the words to tell her I love her, before Quincy showed up out of nowhere, interrupting us."

"Wow, Tommy..."

"Oh no, man. Keep listening. I'm not done yet. Instead of asking Quincy to give us a minute and talking to Kasey, I just left like a bloody coward. A Way to Behave

Also, bit of a warning: it's been a long time since I've watched assclass, so I'm sorry if it's a bit out of character.

Summary: Koro Sensei thought he was able to get a grip on every student, until he met a certain slippery redhead. However, one day he discovered something... interesting.

It was slightly irritating. No, scratch that. Very irritating.

Koro Sensei thought he was able to get Karma under control after catching him from the cliff.

He was dead wrong.

At this point, he wasn't even sure if the redhead cared if the pranks really harmed him or not. But it was certainly getting on his nerves.

He tried, and he means really tried to look at it from a bright way. That he was... he was just expressing his intelligence and creativity.

But, this drive can only last so long.

The last straw was at the final class. As he was teaching the class as diligently as ever, something caught his eye.

A certain magazine on his desk.

What no-

"oHMYGOODNESS! CHILDREN OVERT YOUR EYES. WAIT-NO I-I CAN EXPLAIN THIS-"

"Oh teach, I saw you dropped it. So, I thought it'd be kind to return it." Karma smirked leaning even more from his desk. "Call it, a sign of gratitude for all you've done for the class."

"YOU- you! I cannot believe how absolutely shameless-" The teacher was cut off from the ring of the bell. Koro Sensei sighed in defeat. "Class is dismissed. Karma-kun, please stay for a bit."

Karma just grinned, calmly leaning forward on his desk; resting his head on the palm on his hand.

That was just adding more burn to the cut. The octopus could feel the steam burning through the hole of his ears. He allowed himself to calm down and politely ask for Karma to follow him outside.

"Is there an issue?" Karma asked feigning the worried look on his face. "I was just trying to be helpful."

"Karma-kun, I do appreciate you trying as many ways to assassinate me. But, I must ask for you to not pull such stunts that would make the students think of me like a..."

"A pervert?"

"I am NOT A PERVERT!!"

"But Sensei, if you can't pull someone down physically. The best bet is to tear down their pride. It only makes them more vulnerable." Karma said, tilting his head down ever so slightly down as if he was challenging the octopus.

Who was he kidding?! He can't change this... this devil!

Koro Sensei just placed two tentacles on Karma's shoulder.

"You must also learn to pace yourself, Karma-kun. You may have more chances to kill me, but you can burn yourself out more easily." Koro Sensei then begin to massage his shoulders for emphasis. "You need to be able to take breaks to allow the brain to recuperate. That could make you more vulnerable in turn."

"Sure, sure." He tried waving his teacher off.

"I'm serious Karma-kun. It could make it easier for someone to find your weakness instead of the other way around." He said as he was releasing his tentacles from his student's shoulder lightly.

He accidentally brushed his neck, not thinking about it until he heard a squeak.

What was that?

"You know what?" Karma said suddenly walking off scratching the back of his neck. "I think I'm gonna head home, it's getting late. I do need to make some more fun ways for me to express my gratitude. See ya!"

He then ran off leaving Koro Sensei... confused? Did he hurt him? Perhaps he doesn't know his own strength.

It was the next day and he saw Karma casually sitting on a desk talking to Nagisa.

Koro Sensei wondered if Karma had forgotten about the strange exit he made yesterday. Koro Sensei hadn't, and he was still curious.

So, he decided to do a little experiment. He quickly went through the classroom, and as soon as he was close to Karma, he made sure to brush his neck again.

He was able to catch Karma make a strange strangled sound and then coughing.

"You okay?" Nagisa asked worryingly patting Karma's back.

"Yeah, just breathed through the wrong tube." He responded casually.

"Awe, those sucked." Nagisa smiled.

Interesting, very interesting.

He decided to try it again, to see if it was just a coincidence or a cover.

The next time Koro Sensei decided to try was the class before lunch. He saw the redhead not paying attention to the course. And, the material was important.

Karma had however, seem to think that leaning back in his chair and twirling his pencil was more interesting.

So, Koro Sensei decided to quickly go to Karma. This time, swiftly poking his sides.

"Karma-kun, as intelligent you are-"

He cut himself off as he finished the movement, causing the redhead to shriek leaning a bit too far from his chair, falling to the floor.

He heard laughing from Terasaka and some chuckles from others. Karma just quietly pulled up his chair glaring at both Terasaka and Koro Sensei as his face started to burn.

The teacher just kinda froze, certainly not expecting the kid to actually fall off his chair.

"Uh, well, Karma-kun. Please pay attention to the lesson, it's very important."

Perhaps, he has found a way to make Karma actually behave.

It was now break, and Koro Sensei heard arguing. Well, Terasaka yelling.

"Hey, I thought you'd be good. Don't get offended because you're shit, it's nothing I can control." Karma smirked.

"HOW ABOUT YOU LEARN-"

"What's going on?" Koro Sensei asked seeing Karma smirking and twirling a badminton racket while Terasaka was fuming.

"HE'S JUST TRYING TO WOUND ME UP SO HE CAN WIN THE STUPID GAME!" Terasaka yelled pointing the finger to Karma.

"I was just telling the truth." The boy shrugged.

"Karma-kun, please apologise to Terasaka-kun."

"Why should I? Maybe you should consider-" Karma was cut off by a yelp, freezing. He felt a quick poke to his sides. He looked to see Koro Sensei smiling even wider than he thought possible. "My most sincerest apologies." He bowed sarcastically. "May we finally continue the game?"

Terasaka nodded proudly as the others were shocked that the redhead relented.

"Are you sure you're doing okay? Are you sick?" Nagisa asked getting more worried.

"Just peachy." Karma mumbled glaring at Koro Sensei, who was ecstatic at his new bit of information.

The big and bad Karma Akabane was ticklish.

Oh he is so going to use this finding to his advantage, without a doubt.

And he did. He only did it one other time, but it was already to the point where he could just get close to Karma and he'd tense up.

It was honestly quite funny. But then, after a class from Bitch Sensei, the redhead was nowhere to be seen. Apparently he skipped.

Koro Sensei decided to give Karma a little visit when it was break time.

Who the hell did this slimy yellow octopus think he is?

That he could just poke a prod him as he pleased?

Karma was just brainstorming the many ways to cut off the teacher's tentacle if he tried to touch him again. He was sitting underneath a tree instead of usually climbing and sitting on a branch.

He often went to the woods to clear his head and when he was stressed-

But this wasn't even a stressful situation! It was idiotic and stupid, not to mention really embarrassing.

He was tempted to just sleep it out. But it seems like the universe wasn't on his side and he felt yet another poke.

He yelped out a curse turning to see a goofy ass octopus laughing.

"Shouldn't you be in class?" Koro Sensei asked behind Karma's shoulder. He vehemently ignored the shiver down his spine.

"It got boring, I already know the material and I'll ace the test tomorrow anyways."

"Perhaps, but I feel you shouldn't be skipping so often. You understand these actions come with consequences." He said as a tentacle wiggled a bit too close to Karma's side.

He jumped, standing up growling feeling heat rise to his cheeks.

"The hell's your problem?!"

"Haven't I told you to be careful to not exhaust your tries? It makes it easier to spot a weakness." Koro Sensei said smiling wider than the usual.

Karma for once wasn't entirely sure what to say. He was about to ask what weakness but immediately clamped his mouth shut. He was about to speak but Koro Sensei already beat him to it.

"I must say, I certainly wasn't expecting you to be ticklish." He chuckled, especially seeing Karma's face go from bright pink to full on red.

"No I'm not." He said without thinking.

"You sure?"

"Certainly." Karma huffed, turning around and began walking away.

"Uh huh." Koro Sensei then wrapped a tentacle around Karma's waist, pulling him close to the teacher.

"What the actual hell?!" Karma yelped and started to wiggle around, pulling at the tentacle around his waist.

"Then surely this shouldn't bother you."

The octopus then began to wiggle his tentacles to the redhead's sides, and the reaction was instant.

He began to giggle hysterically moving around as much as he could, making it more difficult for Koro Sensei to control him.

"S-stohop!" His giggling started getting more heavier as the prodding turned to full on squeezing.

"But I thought you weren't ticklish! Surely, this shouldn't be bothering you."

The teasing was making the situation worse. He squealed as he felt two more tentacles wiggle to underneath his arms, rendering him absolutely helpless.

He just couldn't stop laughing and the strange tingling feeling was making it really difficult to think properly. He opted to just kick aimlessly and arch his back as his underarms and sides were being viciously attacked.

He was laughing full on already like a mad man. Much to Koro Sensei's shock, his laugh was less evil, but really adorable.

How come he hasn't heard him laugh like that before?

"FUHUCK OHOHOFF!" He laughed not being able to handle this whole situation. How was he supposed to come back from this? His pride basically crashed out the window.

"How rude, I'm simply putting a smile on your face!"

He released his hold from his underarms but then moved to tickle his stomach. This made Karma shriek very loudly doubling over and thrash.

"STOPSTOPSTOPSTOP!!" He begged laughing going up an octave.

"Is this a sensitive spot?" Koro Sensei chuckled, moving his arms to hold Karma's to his chest and attack his defenseless belly.

At this point, Karma couldn't form any proper words laughing and thrashing. It was honestly surprising.

"I was expecting you to be ticklish, but not this ticklish. You've got to be the most ticklish person I've ever met! It's quite adorable." He chuckled seeing Karma's face get more red if it was even possible.

It really was an adorable sight, Karma's smile was more wide than he's ever seen. Not to mention, the dimples at the side of his face. His eyebrows were also pointed upwards from the laughter instead of the normal neutral or furrowed brows.

Koro Sensei decided to give the boy a but of a break by just tweaking his ribs. He thought Karma would calm down a bit more but he was still giggling heavily. Seriously, how ticklish is he?

"So, are you ready to go back to class and behave?"

"Heheget ohoff me you asshohole!!" He giggles, still trying to wiggle his way out of the teacher's grasp.

"That's not the answer I'm looking for." He said, teasingly inching a tentacle closer to Karma's stomach. He laughed at seeing him suck in his stomach and giggle in anticipation. "Well?" He asked as he just tapped his stomach making a flood of giggles poor out his mouth.

"Okayokahehey, I'll go back to clahahss. Just stop, plehehahahase."

"That's better!" Koro Sensei beamed letting the boy go who plopped on his bum panting, wrapping his arms around his middle protectively. He was still giggling slightly.

Koro Sensei thought he heard Karma mutter 'asshole'.

"Does someone need to be taught another lesson?" He threatened poking at the boy's side making him stand up immediately, actually looking somewhat frightened.

Karma just glared at Koro Sensei that promised death, but he just chuckled.

"Oh, and don't worry about this little weakness if yours. It's our little secret as long as you behave. Who knows what some people could do with information like that?" He chuckled turning around heading for class, fairly certain Karma's face was as red as his hair.

I’ve been on this hellsite since the beginning but I really only started RPing here after a few years.  Probably in 2012 or 2013? I can’t remember exactly when but I remember being very intimidated by the idea of RP on this platform in particular. There is a bit of a steep learning curve in terms of etiquette here that is even steeper when you factor in the near requirement for tumblr-literacy.  Like you basically need xkit to RP and you need to understand what kinds of asks get eaten and when/how cuts work and what behaviors do and don’t cause notifications and how ask posts work and how the block/blacklist features do and dont work and what tags tumblr will and wont index etc etc.  When you’re a tumblr old head it’s easy to forget newcomers don’t immediately know things like that. It’s part of the reason why I tend to be very basic in my approach compared to what is popular at the moment. I was one of those fabled newcomers at one point.

I don’t really think that tumblr RPC is any better or worse now than it was back then, just different. A lot of what’s popular now was a thing back then, but now it’s more commonplace in a much smaller population of RPers. I wouldn’t say that the RPC has many new problems as much as I would say the old problems have intensified.

When I started out I was in a fandom that was very cliquey and made me feel like shit a lot and those spaces probably still exist on tumblr but the difference is I know what my boundaries are and what behaviors I will and wont tolerate on my dash.  Overall the RPC is much better at talking about things like that than it used to be imo. That same fandom I just shit on was also a lot of fun and taught me that it was okay to not take RP too seriously and not be too worried about if it looks pretty enough or was fancy enough. I’m really grateful for people who would RP with me back then even though I unknowingly broke a lot of tumblr RPC’s unwritten rules.  

That’s why it’s very important to me as a seasoned RPer to be as approachable a blog as I can possibly be. In this the lords year of 2020 I still feel myself being set in my ways and avoiding trends that are ultimately harmless, but there is an extent to which I have to participate in order to be courteous to others so I do my best to be open minded about Neo RPC Trends. I end up being of two minds just about everything that’s popular right now. 

Take for example reblog karma / I AM NOT A MEME SOURCE type rules. I think that’s shits dumb, you guys can reblog anything you want from me, in fact reblogging it from me heightens the chances of me sending you one whether you sent me one or not. I’m not gonna get mad at you for using the website as it is intended by the devs to be used, but also if somebody else’s rules say it bugs them to have memes rbed from them, then I think their feelings are more important than my opinion on the matter. People are more important to me than policies in cases like these, so of course I’ll reblog the meme from the source instead of you or w/e.  

But at the same time, that idea about feelings also includes the feelings of people who are new to RP and maybe don’t even know the etiquette well enough to know they’re messing up.  There’s a lot to get mad about in the current state of tumblr RP but even when I agree that I want this particular tedium done, I don’t really agree with the idea that I should make it a rule that forces other people to stay away from me. Yes I dont want to be ponging an ask post back and forth. Yes I want our posts cut.  But also, I wont get mad if you rb an ask instead of putting it in a new post. I’ll just put in a new post myself. I wont get mad if you dont cut a post, I’ll just cut it myself. It’s not hard to do.

Take also graphics, banners, and all manner of fancy formatting. RPC has really really leaned into that a lot more than back in 2013. On the one hand, I think that’s great. People are so creative. Their stuff looks so pretty, and I really like the work people put in. I don’t think it’s a bad thing necessarily, but on the other hand it does heighten that already steep barrier for entry imo, especially in circles that require it and judge based upon it. For me it’s more important to avoid looking like that’s an expectation of mine. Like, I can do that stuff. I do sometimes, actually. I make icons in batches of hundreds, I take commissions for RP graphics, don’t tell anybody. I’m a freelance illustrator and I know my way around the adobe creative suite-- I CAN make these things and I do for other people, but I can’t be called to do it for myself in most cases. When I see a blog with very nice graphics I immediately assume they don’t care to interact with me. In fact I still tend to unfairly think this even when they’ve shown me otherwise. If we don’t have a long term rapport and you’re a blog with nice graphics and I reply to your posts, what you’re seeing is a neurotic prey animal that is afraid of you signaling alarm.  For whatever reason I tend to interpret very fancy looking blogs as confident and happy in their own existing bubbles with no particular interest in newcomers. I know that’s not always a fair assumption to make--it’s a problem with me that I need to work on--but also I know other people deal with similar feelings. That’s why I don’t feel particularly called to make much beyond the most basic of graphics most of the time and I’m highly avoidant of anybody who seems like graphics are a requirement for interactions with them. Not everybody has photoshop. Not everybody is skilled at that sort of thing. I don’t want people to think that I will judge their style based on what my own style looks like, so I don’t invest much in it. Again, there’s nothing wrong with graphics, but it’s more important to me than anything else that I am approachable and I make other people on the dash as comfortable as I can. I’m glad that it seems like a requirement for cohesive graphics has waned over the last few years.

But, yea. I’d say this duality--the “this is cool but also I have reasons I feel I shouldn’t participate”--is how I feel about pretty much everything that’s big right now.  And like don’t even get me started on the anxiety RPC has around things like soft blocking and mutuals and multiples and “quality”. These things in particular aren’t that new, but a lot of Neo RPC etiquette and trends surrounding those types of anxieties represent a whole quagmire that I try to avoid as much as I can, often to a fault, and lately I’ve realized that in my blanket avoidance I am actually missing out on some things I really should consider doing. My icons could do with some light color retouching. I do want to get my tags together eventually. Permanent starter calls, interests checkers, banners to make asks more easily rebloggable-- these things are functional and can be fun and make RP easier and help people feel emboldened to approach. Like, there are a lot of newish things that are actually cool and I should maybe consider trying them out, but being an oldster has really made me slow to adapt.

So yeah, idk if that was clear at all lol. Take these many, many unnecessary words to say that again, I don’t necessarily think that the current RPC is better or worse in an objective sense, but I do think a lot of the anxieties and trends that were starting in the old RPC have really caught fire now in a way that makes them hard to abstain from even if you want to. Since the RPC is so much smaller now than it was in 2013, you really do have to play ball on these things more than you used to have to in order to find partners. There is a lot of etiquette and anxiety that goes unspoken in the RPC and so I often avoid fairly harmless RPC trends as a means of mitigating that anxiety and clarifying the unspoken as much as I can. Tumblr already has a barrier for entry by being a broken website that hates its rp users, I don’t need to pile on any extra factors to make that barrier to entry look any taller.

My portrayal of Lyra

I want to put it out there that I am mostly book-based. I have watched the film and the tv series, and particularly enjoyed the show, to the point it was what got me to read the books in the first place, but both of those things are merely adaptations of the story. I want my Lyra to be my own adaptation of her, so generally my source material will be the book itself.

That said, I am not opposed to show-based threads and I don’t think there’s anything that the show has done with Lyra that I will point blank refuse to acknowledge for my take on her. If that changes at any point, then I will let you guys know!

I have not yet read any of the other books in the universe besides the main trilogy. I do plan to change this however and will update you guys as and when I read the others. And if there’s anything that I want to diverge from in my own canon, I’ll mention that as and when too!

My main faceclaim for Lyra is D.akota F.anning, with E.mily B.lunt being her faceclaim as a 30+ year old. D.afne K.een who plays Lyra in the show is my alternate face claim, but that’s mostly for gifsets. I do have icons of her available to me, but it probably won’t be very often that I use them unless I feel she fits more.

Shipping...honestly probably will not happen besides with a Will, and if not with a Will, then probably not before Lyra is an adult. She essentially messed up her relationship with herself in The Amber Spyglass, which means a romantic relationship...probably isn’t ideal for her until she fixes that. In my canon for older Lyra, she does start to fix this but she’s almost 25 when the repairing begins, so she probably isn’t really going to be after a romance again before that point.

I do plan to make alternate verses for Lyra in other fandoms and such, to make interactions that little bit easier for muns of non-H.DM characters! That said, if I have a verse for the fandom your character is from but you would still prefer to interact within the H.DM universe, feel free to let me know <3

I think exclusivity iscompletely up to those who choose to practice it. I only practice it on whetherI am comfortable. Very few people can make me feel uncomfortable- but my guthas yet to fail me in this. I will not RP with anyone who makes meuncomfortable or if they are just looking for ERP. I’m not about it.

I have not had a bad experiencewith commissions. I really need to seek out one.

In this community, I have onlybeen involved in one instance. It was during my first few months joining FFXIV,super early on. A RPer tried to guilt trip me for not responding to them forone day. One day caused a lot of drama from someone else’s greed and possessivenature.

I don’t regret it. It just demonstrated another example for me to be wary of everyone’s intentions. Unfortunately. It isthat split-second decision that you want to think the best in everyone that brings the failure. Oops.

13.   Have you everthought about leaving rp? What caused it? What changed your mind?

I probably considered leavingRP when I was leaving a forum base that I had invested eleven or so years of mylife into. I had grown so much through it and watched as it died out bit by bitonly for trolls to really remain. None of the inspiration was there and noone truly seemed passionate about anything but bars. Taverns. 

I changed my mind when I joinedFFXIV. At first I played the game because it was something to do. I wasbored and things were dying down for me. I have loved the FF series for such along time, so I thought, why not? Screw the pay wall. I just played through AtRealm Reborn and focused that down in a binge. Over time I got the itch Iwanted to write, and that had propelled me right into the RP crew in Siren.Then that branched onto the Tumblr. Creating my blog has led me to meet such wonderful people along the way. 

14.   Do you think rphas had a positive or negative affect on your life or you as a person?

Positive for sure. RP helped meduring the years I was unsure who I wanted to be, what I wanted to express, andhelped me communicate more when I said so little. I was so much moreintroverted, and the writing RP brought was so uplifting.

The character, Haine, I madeyears ago is a force in my life that influenced my traits as a role model. She’llalways have a special place in my heart.

Without finding RP as anoutlet, I don’t think I would have been ready to embrace what I could be.Things could have been far worse in my life, and I like to think some of thetraits I had crafted Haine to be throughout the years helped me remain true towho I should be rather than what everyone wanted me to be- or knock me down tobe.

Yes. I’ve had the alias Hainefor over ten years. I carried that name from my old RP community and thisperson that I used to call a good friend disappeared. She came back under a newname, and then I went on a hiatus. I come back, she’s going as the name “Haine.”She pretended she was just an anonymous person and not the friend I always knewbut playing stupid never was her skill.

I was… indifferent at first.Yet, it felt like a part of me was being violated. I knew her. It hurt. I hadmade Haine as this love child of my creativity. I tried to be reasonable butthen this person began to start discourse so it would go. “Did Haine do this?” “Whydid Haine do that?” It was confusing to always say “It was the other one.” Whenoften duplicate alias’ were not typical.

It was upsetting to say theleast, and after a while, as above it as I like to be- I started getting prettyangry. It was never pretty. I can regret a bit of it.

I should probably mention this since this blog is coated in several of my interests, but...

Please, don’t send in starters/magical anons/au memes to my muses here. This blog is not meant for roleplays, just a place to house my muses that I don’t have blogs for (as well as goof off and be insane, but that’s on me). If you want to ask my muses things that are on here, feel free- but keep the starters, magical anons, and au things to the roleplay blogs, please.

While I do post roleplay memes (amongst other things), I must warn that the main point of this blog is not roleplay memes. It’s meant to be a place where I can be myself and post whatever- so my personal posts, artwork, etc., will often be the posting type (unless I get hit by the meme muse).

And on stuff like that- the memes here are for public use whenever anyone wants. Since this isn’t one of my roleplay blogs, I won’t ask for reblog karma or anything. I know folks just want some solid roleplay memes- which is why I make a few every now and again.

I am beginning to wonder if I should delete (and I mean permanently delete) two of my roleplay blogs: circuitryandflesh (which I have deleted twice before and brought back), as well as ascendedtorture. I am unsure if I should, but since neither of those blogs has any traffic whatsoever, I figured the question should be posted here.

I love both blogs and I wish I could use them a lot more, but those who have said they would interact with them either have yet to, and no asks have ever come in for circuitryandflesh (ascendedtorture has technically had one ask in its time). It’s made me question if keeping the blogs around was a smart idea, but since I made them to roleplay with the communities,.... Well... I guess I can’t really ask you all that, but...

I’m wondering if I should permanently delete them both. I love the muses on both blogs, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that nothing has happened for either despite my attempts. Perhaps I was a bit impatient in deleting circuitryandflesh (both times), but ascendedtorture has been up for at least two months now with little/no activity (maybe three?).

To put it at a baseline: both blogs are silent, have gotten close to nothing, and I’m questioning keeping either around.

On the line of the RPC communities: I really hope I’m not treading old ground on this blog, but as an OC RP’r, I tend to get sparse interactions.- I have one person who roleplays with me on a regular basis, and a few friends who roleplay with me on Discord. It’s nice having them, but it’d still be fun to further extend my RP’ing bubble. I’ve had brief interactions with several RP blogs, most of which either eventually start ignoring me, ignore me right off the bat, or go down shortly after I start speaking to them. I know it shouldn’t get to me.

It does though.

But I don’t want to bring it up on a monthly, weekly, daily, etc. basis, and I try not to.- I’ve made so many posts where I talked about it that I afterward deleted, that at this point, I don’t know if I have brought it up before now or not.

On those matters, there have been times where I’ve considered making a canon character RP blog because I crave RPs, but I immediately turn the thought away because it hurts. I know I’d get jealous of that blog because I know for a fact that it would get more interactions than all of my OC RP blogs put together. I’m not blaming the internet, it makes sense. People prefer canon over oc. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt, but I live with it.

I wonder if its because I don’t really have a ‘meme’ sense of humor or perhaps my character isn’t a slut or something like that, along with my semi-strict rules on my blogs.- I’ve got a lot of feelings towards this stuff. A lot of which I don’t normally say.

Boiling it all down...

I’m wondering about deleting two of my roleplay blogs, and I have negative feelings towards how the RPCs I am in tend to interact with me (outside of my current interactions [thank you to those of you who do interact with my blogs]- the ghostings and ignoring things). If I do talk about this too much, please confront me about it- I’d rather you guys be comfortable on my blogs.

No godmoding. Metagaming is fine only in crack threads.

While the blog is multiship, I'm not willing to force my muse into the arms of a character I believe he might not be interested in. I also like us to have interacted for a while, before we start a romantic ship.

Speaking of relationships, I usually don't like pre-established ones, meaning he won't know muses outside the Innocentr canon (unless we have plotted something beforehand).

Plotting is always welcome! I can't always wing it, so I will likely approach you for plotting as we go.

I believe in reblog karma. You don't always have to send me something, but don't use me as a meme source, please.

I'm not a fast writer.I have a family and a full-time job, and I don't have enough time to be active all the time.

I'm not always talkative to people I barely know. Give me some time to get to know you better, before you assume I dislike you based on my chat/IM behaviour. It is just how I am, there is nothing else going on, I promise. It shouldn't stop you from chatting me up.

I use icons 99,9% of the time, but I don’t expect you to! I usually write multi para for plot-heavier RPs, and single para for crack or casual interaction with other muses. I write novella length once in a blue moon.

I don't mind making new verses to interact with characters from other fandoms. Writing my muse in different settings is one of the things I enjoy the most, so don't feel afraid to hit me up and discuss it!

On unfollowing/blocking.

I'm heavily against callout culture and I block everyone who participates in it.No exceptions. It's Tumblr RP, nobody's life depends on it, so calm down perhaps.

I'm also against policing what others write in general. It's their blog, if you don't like their content, unfollow.

Anon haters and vague-posters will be blocked/soft-blocked. Keep the drama IC, not OOC.

It might sounds strange, but I don't like seeing character hate/ship hate on my dash. This doesn't apply only to Charles, but generally. I consider it very tactless to bash something your mutuals might like or even roleplay, and I'm not fond of ship wars/character wars in general.

If you don’t follow me back within few days of active posting, I will unfollow you, as I only interact with mutuals.

I also tend to unfollow inactive blogs, who have been gone for months, but they are always welcome to hit me up once they come back.

I usually unfollow people I've never interacted with after a certain amount of time. I don't like f4f.

I might unfollow/softblock roleplayers, when the amount of non-rp posts/politics exceeds the actual roleplay content by far. It's your blog and you can do as you please, of course, but I prefer having RP content on my dash.

Are aesthetics important to you? If so, why?

Sometimes. I don’t have photoshop, so a lot of PSDs don’t work for me, and I don’t always try to do aesthetics. But I love seeing them on my dash and I’m always in awe of them. I enjoy seeing them more than I enjoy making them because I doubt my own skills basically? And I’m indecisive. 

How do you explain RP to someone in the real world? 

I do not. I’m lucky enough that almost everyone in my life that I consider a friend does RP or has done RP. The few times I’ve lived with roommates ( a couple of years ago ) who didn’t I sort of ... didn’t mean it until I was sure of them, and they already knew what it was. 

Do you prefer writing male or female muses more? 

When I was younger it was female characters, but I get drawn to the character themselves first, I believe. My original characters are mostly female.

In 2012 I had a group of close knit friends in a fandom that will remained unnamed but you can probably guess, because it was 2012. There was this entire event in which one of them sent hate to another one of us, and it was very cruel and then after several hours of being upset by this, the person in question was like ‘it’s me and it’s because _____’ which I do believe was to the tune of ‘just because I don’t like you’. I regret not recognizing that the group dynamics there were awful. 

But otherwise? No. I don’t regret reblogging callout posts for legitimate things because there are some truly nasty people in this community. I don’t consider calling out legitimately criminal and harmful behavior as drama. 

Do you believe RP has a positive or negative affect on your life as a person?

Positive, for the most part. I’ve been writing here for so long that I struggle with writing novel things because it’s a different kind of writing, but I enjoy this kind of writing so much. And the friends I’ve made? I wouldn’t trade that for the damn world.

There’s a few things. Thinking it’s okay to write racist characters, homophobic characters, antisemites / first o.rder, h/ydra ... like ... It’s not okay. Do you know how much of that happens in real life? Do you know how much I see and deal with that shit in real life? That my friends do? I don’t want to sit there and see your character be racist because you just like the character or think he has an interesting backstory. I’m going to block it and protect myself. 

Have you ever had someone steal something from you? If so, how did you react? 

Not that I’m aware of, no. 

How do you feel about vague posting? 

It makes me incredibly anxious. 

Do you read someone’s rules before following or interacting?

Always, every single time.

I’m hesitant on this one because I don’t really know what it has to do or has to do with RP? But I try to ... investigate the sources of words, because I don’ want to appropriate something I think is slang but it actually AAVE which isn’t mine to use. If it’s not AAVE or something from a culture / minority that I shouldn’t be using, then sometimes? I speak in memes and vines a lot lmao. 

Have you ever experienced discrimination? 

I hesitate to say yes because there’s so much worse discrimination in real life but ... god people really don’t interact with female OCs, do they. I’ve also been told ( way back in 2012 ) that ‘no one cared about me talking about asexuality and to shut up’. So kind of, but nothing i actually consider a Big Deal. 

Have you ever cried while writing a reply?

Yes. I kind of love it? It’s a good emotional release. it especially happens if I’m listening to the right kind of music. 

What’s one thing that people hate that doesn’t seem to bother you? 

Reblog karma reblog karma reblog karma. Now please note: I always ALWAYS follow it because I know thats something that bothers people. But personally? It bothers me more that people either feel forced to send something in to me just to reblog something from me - if you want to send something in to interact, do. If you don’t, then please don’t. But it also bothers me that people go out of their way to have to reblog from the source? I don’t want to be used like a meme resource - please don’t go through my blog and reblog everything in my meme tag I’m begging you - but if I’ve just put something on the dash, I always feel strange about people purposefully avoiding me to go to the source. The only time it really bothers me is when it’s an OOC meme? Because I never want someone to feel like they’re forced to interact, but when I reblog an OOC meme and no one sends something in but everyone’s reblogging it from me, that one kind of bugs me the wrong way. i won't follow back if there isn't a rules page for me to read. OR if i can't find the link to the rules page. i'm a stickler for being able to read someone's rules. it makes me super anxious not to be able to do so.

sometimes. i won't NOT follow someone if i don't like their aesthetic. because when it comes right down to it -- i don't have to see someone’s aesthetics every day. just their writing.

i actually can't really think of one? i'm not super in the know about all the trends, though.

i've been roleplaying long enough that most people in my life know that i roleplay. but -- if i have to explain it to someone new... i kinda just tell them like -- i roleplay. and if they don't know what it is or if they immediately go to kinky things then i go more in depth and explain that no it's a writing thing between two people.

i don't really have a preference, if we're being honest. i know that most people do but... i really can't think of a single reason why i prefer one over the other.

considering i have several more male muses than female you could probably say that i have a preference for male muses. but? i don't know exactly why that is. i think that... it just happens that way. i think that it's because i gravitate towards the abused boys, lmao. i want to cuddle them and love them and make them happy.

i don't like them. i feel like things could be resolved in messages or with a block. but then again -- i've never been in a situation like that. so i don't know what the mindset is behind putting someone on blast.

i really hate that we all can't just be nice & respect each other. i hate that people seem to gravitate to male muses more than they do female ones. & i absolutely cannot stand the drama.

i have my preferences... but i don't practice exclusives anymore. i find that it causes more drama than it's worth.

i've been roleplaying since i was twelve. over the years i've learned, as a sheltered homeschooled kid, that people can be harsh. it doesn't hurt anyone's feelings to be mean to you. / writing is hard. i've really had to work at getting to where i am now. & that this is a hobby, not a job. i don't have to do anything that i don't want to do.

i've thought about leaving roleplay hundreds of times since i was twelve. since i've been on tumblr though, i've never really thought about quitting altogether. i have, however, thought about changing fandoms a few times.

i think it's had both, honestly. it has brought me so many great friends that i hope to keep forever. but on the other hand, there has been a whole helluva lot of drama over the years that have caused me to cry & stress out a lot. i put far too much effort into making people online like me. i worry far too much about what they think.

YES. all of my social interaction for years has come from online & rp. my friends have shaped and changed me from an innocent, anxious child. to an even more anxious adult. i have grown up on roleplay. like i said, i have been roleplaying since i was 12. i've changed a lot since then. i don't know what rp & the online community has directly affected to explain and what was just destined... but. lmao.

i'd change how everyone treats each other. i just really wish that everyone could get along. i hate seeing people getting left out.

YES. it's been a few years. but back where i used to write. everything was pretty anything goes. and there were a few times where i was uncomfortable with the scenes i was doing.

i think it depends by what slang you mean? i've picked up several things from tumblr & twitter too? they're very similar in the way everyone talks. so?? i guess that i've picked it up idk skksks.

I’m gonna be honest I rewrote this a few times bc I got too salty. In the end my big thing is like... I feel like people take everything to extreme and it’s kind of exhausting.

Like some people will take good concepts and just turn them into weird, rigid rules and honestly treat their partners really shitty.

Like dropping threads. Dropping threads, as a concept is fine because we all get busy or lose muse or just shit happens, right? But it’s taken to such a weird extreme where like it’s ok to drop anything at any time for no reason and no one can call you on it and the time and creative effort you’ve put into all the plotting and writing the starter means absolutely nothing because they’re not “obligated” to do anything for you. And I’m just going to say it: that’s shitty. And if anyone reading this feels that way... you’re shitty for acting like that. Yeah, in a social hobby you do have social obligations to the people you’re participating with. I can’t just stand out in a baseball field and take up a spot on the team while doing shit all because it’s just a game and I’m not obligated to do anything for anyone. I’m not saying you have to hit home runs 24/7, god knows I don’t, but you have to try. Communication, engagement in other ways (memes, chatting ooc, shit posting, maybe different threads), offering to write the next starter/come up with the next plot after dropping something, all those are ways you can just be a decent partner.

Reblog karma is another one. Great idea as a concept. No one wants to feel left out or have their notes clogged up, so it’s not great to make a constant habit of reblogging memes without sending any, but again, people gotta freak the fuck out and they never consider why someone might not reblog from the source. Maybe they don’t have the spoons to read through the whole meme and send shit, maybe the source isn’t easy to find. I used to reblog memes because I knew when I got on later to look at my blog or answer anything I’d gotten, I’d see who I reblogged it from and know where to send it to now that I was off mobile. 

It’d be one thing if the RPC was filled with children but the circles I’m in really aren’t. Everyone is at least in their mid 20s acting like this and it isn’t cute. 

I’ve gotten away from those types of people in my group of current partners. I feel like every person I write with understands like healthy balances and just being kind in general, but it’s very very frustrating to try and find new people to write with and read this shit in their rules.

There's a lot of Loki canon in the MCU that I'm just like "no fuck that." I'm sorry, unpopular opinion, I did not like Rag. Number one all the shit with the Grand Master was gross and I hated it. Number two, you can say Thor one is boring all you want, but it felt way more genuine. Everything in Rag was just a cookie cutter Marvel thing. And Loki in that movie is kind of ooc for me, though you can't tell because his personality shifts with every single iteration. Fenrir was disappointing, Hela's story was a whole mess, we didn't even see Jor??? Trash. Trash it all in my opinion. It has no bearing on my Loki. I know that my Loki is---out there, but I still feel like he stays very true to that original MCU version of him we see in Avengers/Thor and even in The Dark World.

I really like Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

I not only love Gaiman's work, but I love his audiobooks where he reads his own work. You can just tell the passion and consideration he has for his work as he's reading and I love it.

Pratchett is mostly for his humor and style. It always makes me excited about fantasy and inspires me to examine the ways I write my own shit.

Idk. I don’t really follow a lot of people that obsess over being trendy, so I think a lot of that cool kid shit misses me.

Look it doesn’t pertain to this blog, but it took me forever to find a faceclaim I liked for Beck. I had a very specific vibe I was going for and needed someone expressive and playful and I really like Eliza Taylor for Beck. I’ve never looked back.

But I tell you I’m having just as hard of a time looking for one for Cherry on this account, and it’s one of the main reasons I don’t currently have her listed as a muse. That and idk she’d be the only dwarf on here, but she is directly connected to Ena. So playing her anywhere else feels weird. She-Ra Rewatch: season 3 and onwards through season 4, and boatloads of Introspection time!

So Ive been rewatching She-Ra with my partner, because sharing Entrapdak is caring. I could probably squee on about that for a century or more (because eeee, sharing things i love with people i love AND THEY EVEN PAY ATTENTION TO THE THINGS AND REMEMBER THEM!)...but ill spare you, kind internet strangers who for some reason find my thoughts mildly interesting enough to be reading this. This is going to be a lot. Like, a LOT. A lot especially from a stranger that youve probably only seen a notification from due to me sticking a heart on your content or for reblogging something lovely youve made in pictures or words. I dont think anything is going to be violently trigger-y because im not always great at judging that stuff and also ive yet to feel quite comfy enough to be  fully open-posting specifics about my own past trauma, other than a vague allusion to self-harm and distant-ish unspecified abuse aaaand the usual childhood garbage truck of assholes....but i suppose you could possibly draw some darker potential conclusions from the content im focused on. Also, my ADHD makes it incredibly hard to keep to a straight and non-branching narrative so...ramble-y bits and expressions of brain frustration ahoy. Either way...you are forewarned, just in case. Sorry in advance, this is going to be a small booklet by the time Im done explaining, and thinking, and then attempting to stick words to abstract feels which sometimes im great at, and then others i fucking suck at...but at least this is all written and not me trying to say this to any of your faces! Thats....a mercy all of its own. Haa...  Anyway, while rewatching with my partner, I realized just how much more painful parts of it are to sit through now...they were the first time, and each time since, but NOW having spent a while mulling over the series as a whole a bunch, and reading a lot of other peoples writings on here and finding myself largely in agreement with most Entrapdak fan’s assessment of things, I just....feel like all the air is ripped out of me during some moments, watching  with keener insight. And despite thinking i had myself reasonably well figured out by my age, its all also made me further consider a few things about myself as well. Particularly my notable internalized fury response to chunks of it which have been consistent through all my viewings of SPOP. With Hordak at least, its way easier to understand my reactions. For me at least. Maybe not so much for the people around me. And, shittier due to intensity and subject matter, but still easier in the long run because...the broken bits in me that he resonates with are fresher and sharper and still more recent, like within the last ten years, and thus more towards the front shelves in my head, compared to things that resonate with Entrapta, which are all old, lifelong dull aches at this point. I feel like nothing i can point to is fully sufficient to fully express my feels involving Hordak. But, maybe the best representative moment is with the crying i do every damn time I see his face looking up at Prime just after he glimmer and catra were beamed up...because ive seen that face in the mirror. I HAVE MADE THAT FACE. That same. Goddamn. Face. I may not have gotten a jab to the back of the neck directly from the person I made it at...but they often seemed to silently goad me to harm myself in an attempt to jolt my brain out of getting stuck in re-looping through what theyd just done/said to me. Likewise, much of his interactions with Entrapta are very...very weirdly familiar in feeling, but in a good way. Watching the stuff with Hordak hurts because fuck me if it isnt frequently like watching myself back in 2008ish to 2013, which was the duration of the worst parts of that particular circle of hell i parked my ass in. So...that makes sense. Hes so well written in those moments, it occasionally gave me PTSD flashbacks (still does a little, but now im prepared and braced for it and can shrug it back off....thanks, lifetime of therapy and years of studying abnormal psychology! Still totally not an expert, just very passionate...just, as a disclaimer).  Entrapta though...Entrapta is a different story. Mostly, I see Entrapta and in her free expressions of delight and joy and her bouncy enthusiasm I am reminded of a younger, less discouraged me in some ways, and in others, a “me” I could have been, but...well, extremely early-onset anxiety and depression made me insanely self-conscious super-super early on...not that i was great at hiding or...i guess the term people seem comfy with is “masking”? Which was a huge problem, or so it was in the 80s when far less was understood of such things. Id do so for a bit and then would forget to, in a way (because id forget long enough to go and trust again reflexively) and would get badly bullied and would squish everything down until id feel a crumb of safety again, and then almost instantly ADHD would pop that mask right the rest of the way off aaand it would start all over again. Ad nauseam until my teen years, where the depression sort of “fixed” that, and made it much easier to destroy my desire to share much of myself freely at all, save for with one or two people, and to a less deep extent a broader circle of nerd friends. Course, then i hit 30 and ran out of the majority of fucks I used to give. Or I became so damaged and salted with anger that parts of me dont grow any fucks anymore? Either way, plowshares to swords, WHEEEE!) And, maybe thats where this time while watching, I started to really think back to all that, and to how i see Entrapta treated by the other princesses, or really just in general except by Hordak...and why it burns my biscuits so badly. Every time I see someone roll their eyes at Entrapta’s beautiful unbridled enthusiasm or try to make it seem distasteful or at least weird and unwanted and uncomfortable for them but then dont even bother to try coming to terms with why they feel that way... or how they seem to feel free to grab and manhandle her without her consent, or the way they try to lessen her contributions because shes non-normative? Like its the fucking least she can do to make up for being weird in their space (...okay, that might just be the anger kicking in..but i dont feel like its an entirely innacurate assessment, is it?)  All of that...seeing it inflicted upon someone, It feels like someones punched me right in the damn sternum, but because its a hurt that im so desensitized to, it seems to have a much different effect than the sharp, violent crushing pain that i feel when I relate to Hordak a little too well for comfort. Again, i could go on, but its nothing more eloquent people on here havent already spoken volumes on. And my first gut reaction is always “I dont understand! why is that their reaction to her?! it doesnt seem logical at all, i dont seem to be able to parse it correctly, how is this acceptable? I HOPE SHE IMMOLATES YOU ALL.”. Which...I suppose isnt entirely usual for me (the silent wishing that people be immolated, I mean...i blame my past years of working in retail. And devouring too much Warhammer 40k contentl).  (oh gods...and this is going to be the most clusterfucky part cause i can feel my meds kicking in and thats gonna be hard to keep coherence on but i gotta get this all out of my head or ill forget it or get too scared of you fucking BRILLIANT insightful smart people on here and then ill continue to live scared and regretful that i never said..anything, and just sat here like “noticeme, entrapdak sempais!”  Ehhn...which is to say, if this is a garbage dump from here down, dont worry, when i wake up ill fix it...but hopefully itll at least make a tiny bit of sense ) But I realized something...something I hadnt ever rememberd much about due to the shitty neuronormative (apology if thats wrong term) behaviors continuing over years and years but in less and less directly aggressive ways as i grew older and was more prone to losing my shit in , (and likely because I got excessively lucky and managed through...uhhh...agonizing determination? 1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?

I’ve had the name ‘Karma’ for about 17 years now? I don’t even remember where it came from. The ‘Velkyn’ got added a little over 10 years ago when I decided I wanted to get back into fic writing. But I was still in that phase where you think you’re supposed to ‘grow out’ of fandoms and writing fanfiction, so I didn’t want any of my friends to know I was doing it. I was embarrassed. It was silly. I picked a different handle, VelkynKarma, which actually means ‘hidden Karma.’ Later I just liked the name and also got over my embarrassment for fic writing and just started using it everywhere.

2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos).

No matter what statistic you look at, Routine Maintenance wins across the board by a large margin. Parasite Knight only has 1 less subscription, though, so I guess it’s a fair contender on subs.

3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?

Same as my tumblr icon, it’s one of my OC’s, Morrigu Lovel. He is a little smartass and I love him.

4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?

Oh for sure, there’s a few lovely readers that come back every time and always have something to say. I love you guys :) And a few others that don’t comment on every chapter or every work, but the comments they leave are always phenomenal and make my day.

5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?

Depends on my mood, and I don’t necessarily read the entire fic, just the paragraphs/scenes/chapters that really stick out to me. But yeah, I’ve got some favorites I return to a lot.

6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?

Oh geez. This one’s hard to say since I watch stuff on AO3 and FF.net. A lot? I think a lot of those fics are dead now though.

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

Mmmm I don’t really have a tendency to stick to any particular series or AU for very long? I guess in terms of general themes I’ve done zombie AU’s the most, between Age of Heroes for Young Justice and Road Trip to End Times for Voltron...something about zombie apocalypse scenarios just fascinates me, especially since it can be done so many different ways.

8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)

252 user subs, 444 work subs, 2039 bookmarks. I didn’t even know that until now, huh

9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)

There’s some character interactions that are such hot-button topics in the VLD fandom I’m cautious about approaching them because I don’t want to deal with people complaining or begging for things to get escalated. Like, I love Keith and Lance’s interactions in canon, but don’t have much fic centered around them because ship lashback is real.

10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.

Short fic. What is brevity even? I can’t do zines or commissions because I can’t figure out how to manage a damn word count.

11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?

Nope! I don’t write any ships at all. I just write platonic interaction. Though I guess I wouldn’t be adverse to a platonic ‘rarepair’ as long as I liked the characters’ interaction potential.

12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?

So far, 25. 23 of those are Voltron, 1 is Young Justice, and 1 is Supernatural (experimenting with cross-posting on both of those last two, some fandoms are just hard to break into or not on certain sites).

13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?

Oh boy. In progress? I wanna say 3. Notes? A lot, lot more.

14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?

I jot down notes! Or email myself ideas if I’m at work/out and about. Or speak them into a little portable digital tape recorder I keep next to my bed, if it’s the middle of the night and I have an idea, but lack dexterity to type.

15. Have you ever co-authored a story?

Not in a long, looong time.

16. How did you discover AO3?

Through TVTropes. Every time I finished a new series I’d swing by to read tropes pages and see if there were any decent fic recs. At first they all went to Fanfiction.net or livejournal but, over time, this ‘Archive’ thing kept showing up. I made an account to lurk or subscribe to things but didn’t actually start posting to it until at least a year later.

17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?

Moderately well known in the platonic corner of it probably assuming people know bosstoaster and I are not actually the same person lol but probably not well known outside of that. Once upon a time I was a Big Name in the One Piece fandom, but after the timeskip I fell out of the fandom and lost my pirate king throne. That’s okay, it was fun while it lasted.

18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?

No but you all are too kind

19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

In terms of ‘official’ authors, Brandon Sanderson is everything I ever aspire to be as a writer, and I take a lot of inspiration from that. For fic? My buddy BlackFriar was super helpful during the Young Justice era. More recently in the VLD fandom, @maychorian was big for just...getting me to stay in the fandom at all? One of her fics got me hooked and I stuck around, and then felt compelled to write, instead of just drifting off to the next interesting thing. And the Think Tank ( @bosstoaster @butteredonions @ashinan @mumblefox ) have all been huge for getting me to keep writing, between writing sprints and interesting discussions and a lot of encouragement, so that’s been huge for me this past year.

20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

At the risk of sounding like that one video...just do it. It’s scary to put yourself out there, but just do it. You learn by doing. You also learn by absorbing new things around you, so read a lot and try new stuff; you never know when something completely random or a personal experience might actually add a lot to your story. And finally, write for you, first. Write the stories you want to see. Writing for comments/bookmarks/reblogs only goes so far. It means your motivation is reliant solely on people liking your work, which means you start writing for other people and not for yourself...and if reception is lackluster, it can kill your ability to finish a project, which hurts your practice at follow-through. It’s a slippery slope and starts to make the whole thing a lot less fun and a lot more of a chore. Write things you want to read, and if you feel like sharing them after, other people might like them too, but it’s important that you like it, first.

21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

Has to be plotted completely. If I try to wing it I meander or get hung up on trying to keep track of details. Turns into total garbage.

22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

A few times, sure. Happens to everyone. Most often, it’s people begging, demanding, or insinuating that my platonic fics should include a ship, especially if the fic focuses on the interactions of two specific characters. Those are very frustrating because I’m always upfront about the fic being friendship only, and there are usually a million other ship fics already out there. Leave my platonic fic alone! I usually ignore the comments, or just politely remind people it’s friendship only and will remain that way. In one bewildering instance in a different fandom I had somebody who had been thoroughly enjoying the fic up until the climactic battle, whereupon they were furious at how it was resolved, and took great pains to tell me just what they thought. That one stung. I had to sit on it for a few days before I worked up the nerve to respond, and chatted with a few friends over it too. In the end I realized that it was more comparable to a fan really enjoying a canon work but being mad about a sudden twist that just didn’t seem right to them. It happens. I thanked them for reading, explained that I disagreed with their comments but did hear them, and thanked them for their time. Best I could do.

23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)

I am straight-up incapable of romance, period. Even so far as to slide into ‘fake’ romance (I once got prompted for fake marriage/dating and literally couldn’t envision how to do it? It’s just so foreign to me). Or flirting. I can’t even identify flirting IRL. Basically anything in that general area of writing is completely out of my league. I can write intense scenes that are intimate in non-romantic, non-sexual ways, but those are really difficult for me to do too and I’m constantly second-guessing myself in case it’s maybe too much.

24. What story(s) are you working on now?

If I told you I’d have to kill you. But no, srsly, I don’t like to share ideas in progress until it’s almost done, just in case. Sometimes I share and then immediately lose interest, but I’ve already raised peoples’ hopes, and that’s just a dick move.

25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

I’ll have outlines, or sometimes need to plan around prompts. I don’t usually do series, so I never really need to plan too far ahead though. Sometimes if I’m plotting a crossover/AU I’ll obtain the source material and read/watch/play it to start gathering notes for that fic while working on a different fic, so that by the time I’m done writing the current story, the AU’s skeleton is plotted out and I have a place to slot in all the characters.

26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

No. I’ve gotten better habits since working with the Think Tank but I still tend to be more of a ‘burst’ writer (no activity for days or weeks, and then suddenly word vomiting 100K in a month).

27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?

By a HUGE margin

28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?

Oooh, that’s a toss-up between Phantasmagoria and Prince of Memory. The former because I love writing horror and it’s an idea I’d wanted to tackle for a while. The latter because it was a personal writing challenge to myself that I honestly wasn’t sure was going to go over all that well, but the response was stunning, and I was quietly surprised.

29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?

Caged Bird, from a different fandom. I make it a personal rule to never delete stories that I’ve posted, but ooh man, I wanted to get rid of this one really bad. I was happy when LJ gutted it. I actually don’t have any real dislike for any of my Voltron stuff.

30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

Still writing because I’d die if I stopped. Like a shark. But with writing.

31. What is the easiest thing about writing?

That flash of inspiration, when you get an idea and suddenly it’s building itself almost too fast for you to keep up. Dialogue. Action sequences.

32. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Getting started. Titles. Editing. Research. Any particularly emotional moment.

33. Why do you write?

Because fandoms are fun but I have so many questions after. “What if X happened? What if Y was a factor? Why not Z?” I try to hunt down answers to these questions in fandoms and if the fic isn’t already written, I write it. Also to challenge myself to do things that haven’t been done in the fandom yet, or to tackle things I haven’t tried yet.
