Five Kisses pt. 1
Summary: Your relationship with Bucky is defined by five different kisses.
Characters: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Word Count: 2,895
Author’s Note: Coming out of retirement! I hope that you all enjoy. I didn’t want to split this up into three parts, but it would have been a really long one-shot if I had. Le me know what you think! I haven’t written anything in like four years, so I’m not even sure if people still read fics. So toss a reblog to your fic writer, o’ readers a plenty!
You can read part two here!
Tumblr media
You weren’t sure what to call Bucky Barnes. He wasn’t really someone you’d call a friend, but he was a little more than just an acquaintance. In fact, he was more of a pain in your ass than anything. Natasha introduced you to him, half in hope that the two of you would hit it off. Only, after an hour of knowing him, the only thing you wanted to hit was his head off of his shoulders.
Avoiding him after that first encounter was hard, seeing as he was always around with that stupid, shit-eating-grin plastered to his face. You could tell that he knew just how much his mere presence annoyed you; he enjoyed watching your jaw clench, teeth-grinding at the sound of his voice whenever he said something incredibly stupid- which was every time he opened his mouth.
You tolerated him, but only because you had to; for Steve and Nat’s sake. No one said you had to like him. You didn’t want to like him.
That was until he wound up in your dreams.
You might have been in an elevator or a doctor’s office, you couldn’t really remember. The details of the dream were fading fast, and the only thing that continued to stick out was Bucky. And your hands grasping at the lapels of his suit jacket, pulling him down to you. And the way your noses bumped together. And the sound of a desperate moan escaping the depths of his throat.
And how ridiculously soft his lips were.
A blush crept across your cheeks as you sat in your bed, embarrassed; hands holding your head as you wondered how your subconscious had let this happen. The thought of kissing Bucky Barnes had not once crossed your mind before, and now the thought of kissing Bucky Barnes had your mind racing. It was just a kiss and then you woke up. But as you sat atop tangled sheets, you thought of what might have happened if you had stayed asleep; your heartbeat kicking as you imagined him kissing you in other places.
You sighed; eyes clamped tight as you shook your head, trying to snap yourself out of it and push any thought of the man out of your mind. Natasha tried to make small talk with you in the kitchen when you went to make a cup of coffee, but at the first mention of Bucky you made up some excuse to get the hell out of Dodge.
Over the next few weeks, you were avoiding him more than usual. You turned down invitations to go out with the group-, knowing that he would be there. And when he and Steve came over to your apartment, you’d find some reason to leave; work, needing something from the grocery store, going to the gym or going to hang out with one of your other friends. Sure, it was just a dream, but you couldn’t deny that you had begun to think of Bucky in a different way since then. And you were sure your feelings would disappear if you stayed away from him for long enough.
You were coming home one night after work, completely exhausted and drained, and before you even opened the door to your apartment, you could hear the faint sound of laughter on the other side. You sighed as you slid the key into the lock, completely forgetting that it was Thursday night, or as Nat liked to call it, ‘Family Night’.
Natasha heard the door shut behind you and called for you to join them. Not feeling like fighting this one, you made your way to the kitchen. Nat stood at the stove, a steaming pot of noodles in front of her while Steve was leaning against the counter, in the middle of telling some story about when he and Bucky were in Italy. And Bucky was at the table, beer in hand, smiling as he tried to dispute Steve on a few of the details in the story.
“Hey guys,” you mumbled as you walked into the kitchen towards the refrigerator to grab a beer. “That smells great, Nat.”
“Thanks,” she beamed, obviously proud of herself. Your roommate rarely did any cooking, and most of the time the two of you were ordering take-out or going to the nearest ‘pizza-by-the-slice’ joint. You knew this newfound love for cooking- she had even bought herself an apron- was to impress Steve. And it was cute, you couldn’t deny. “How was work?”
You nearly collapsed in the chair across from Bucky and kicked off your heels. His eyes were burning a hole into you, but you kept your gaze fixed in the direction of Natasha and Steve; not wanting to look at him, afraid of what would happen if you did.
“Today was rough since we have that audit coming up.” You replied before taking a swig of your beer. “It’s nice to be home.”
“Amen to that,” Steve declared as he held his bottle up in the air.
You copied his movements and sat back in your chair with a sigh. The kitchen was filled with a comfortable silence, save for the sound of the water boiling in Nat’s pot. You ran a hand through your hair and finally looked up at Bucky who was glancing down at his phone. Your eyes skimmed over his features and you wondered how you had never noticed his freckles or the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled at something.
How could you have never noticed that Bucky Barnes was beautiful?
“Buck, did you find something for this weekend?” Natasha asked, breaking the silence and your stare.
“This weekend?” You questioned.
“Yeah, I thought it would be nice if we all went out and did something fun,” she replied. “You’ve been so busy lately, Y/N, and you told me that you didn’t have any plans this weekend, so I figured we’d go somewhere and let loose.”
“Oh,” you said quietly.
“They’ve got a band playing at Josie’s on Saturday night,” Bucky informed, as he looked up from his phone and met your eyes for only a moment before you averted your gaze to look at Nat.
“I’m always down for Josie’s,” Steve stated.
“Yeah, Josie’s sounds good,” Natasha added. “Y/N, what do you think?”
“Sure, Josie’s it is!” You replied with a nervous grin.
Saturday night came way, too soon. Natasha had texted you that she and Steve were going to be running a little late coming from dinner and that they’d just meet you and Bucky at Josie’s soon. Your stomach churned at the thought of spending any time alone with him, but it quickly turned to butterflies as you opened the door and saw him sitting at the corner of the bar.
He looked good. The sleeves of his dark sweater pushed up his arms as he brought the beer bottle up to his lips and took a drink. He noticed you and waved as if you hadn’t immediately spotted him the moment you walked in. He was hard to miss, after all.
“Hey,” he said as you reached the barstool next to him. “You want a beer?” You nodded and he motioned for the bartender to grab you a bottle. “Steve and Nat are going to be late.”
“Yeah, she texted me.” You told him. He nodded his head in reply and thanked the bartender when he placed the bottle of beer in front of you. “Thanks,” you told Bucky with a soft smile before pressing the bottle to your lips.
“You look nice tonight,” he mentioned and your cheeks began to blush.
“Thank you,” you replied. “So do you.”
“What?” Bucky’s face was shocked. “No smart ass remark?”
You rolled your eyes. “Don’t start.”
The silence that fell over the two of you wasn’t awkward, but it wasn’t comfortable either. It was unlike Bucky to compliment you, and you figured he was just doing it to be civil, but that didn’t stop your cheeks from forming a light blush. You kept your gaze downcast, checking your phone every few seconds out of boredom. Bucky absentmindedly drummed his fingers on the marble countertop to the beat of the song and you noticed just how nice his hands were.
You talked about work, mostly. He asked about the audit, which you were surprised he remembered, and he boasted about his own work. The band started playing not long after that. They were good; a classic rock cover band that only played the hits. And for what seemed like the first time, you were actually enjoying spending time with Bucky Barnes. He had even asked if you wanted to move to the dance floor, and you did; dancing to song after song, drink after drink, you couldn’t remember the last time you had this much fun.
“Hey!” He called over the music. Bucky held up his phone to you, showing a text message thread from Steve, but at that point your vision was pretty blurry. “They aren’t coming.”
“Who needs them?” You replied with a smile. “You want another round?”
“I got it,” he replied and turned to head back to the bar.
You placed a hand on his chest to stop him, “I got this one.”
Bucky smiled at you when you came back with two more shots of tequila. “Cheers to pleasant surprises,” he said as he held his shot glass up to yours.
“Pleasant surprises indeed,” you replied before you downed your shot.
You both laughed at each other’s faces after you downed the sour liquid and sat your empty glasses on a table nearby. The band finished their last song and announced that they were going to slow things down a bit. You could feel the alcohol swimming in your veins as couples gathered on the dance floor to dance to some, old slow song.
Bucky held out his hand and you took it, not thinking twice about it. He pulled you in close to him, and you rested your head on his chest; eyes closing at the light scent of his cologne. You were thankful that Steve and Natasha didn’t show up; you weren’t sure how you and Bucky would have acted towards each other if they had. You could hear him humming along to the music and a smile made its way to your lips as you also began to sing along.
Before you knew it, the whole dance floor was loudly- and drunkenly- belting out the lyrics during the song’s chorus. As the song began to fade, people began to move off of the dance floor while the band announced they were going to take a break. However, you and Bucky were still holding each other closely as the bar began to play their own music in the interim. You looked up at him from your place on his shoulder and he glanced downwards and smiled.
“You want to get out of here?” He asked. His hands release their grip on your waste and you groaned inwardly. “I know a really awesome food truck that is stays open late, and cheese fries sound really good right about now.”
“I am not going to argue with that.” You said and reluctantly took a step back from him, knowing that it would be a good idea to eat something to hopefully save yourself the hangover that you knew you would have in the morning.
Once you had both settled the tab, you stepped out of the bar and into the cool air of the city. The wind kicked up, causing your hair to fly around your face as you looked out at the glistening lights of New York City in the distance. You could see Bucky looking at you out of the corner of your eye, he smiled when you turned to him.
It was quiet, save for the sounds of the streets, as you began walking along the sidewalk- side by side. Your arms brushed against the other every few seconds, and you began to relish in the warmth, even if it was only for a fleeting moment before he took another step. He broke the silence first, making a joke about Steve and Nat not showing up and you laughed. You were surprised by how easy it was to talk to him; opening up more and more, little by little. But then his fingers brushed against yours and you thought he was going to hold your hand. Suddenly, your story about falling out of the tree in Mrs. Johnson’s yard trying to rescue her cat was cut short, as your heart and stomach fluttered at the feeling. You glanced downwards wondering if he noticed your face blushing red, and bit the inside of your cheek as you tried to pull yourself together.
“So did you rescue the cat, or not?” Bucky asked, stopping on the street corner. You stopped too and looked up at him. His lips were pulled into a ridiculously attractive grin, and it was hard not to form a smile of your own.
“Of course, I rescued the cat.” You said with pride, rolling your eyes at him. “Wait a second,” you looked around at your surroundings as you realized that you had no idea where you were. And Bucky’s food truck was no where in sight. “Where are we?”
Bucky also looked around and chuckled. “Well, I thought the food truck was in this direction a few blocks down from the bar, but I am a little drunk and I may have been wrong.”
You sighed jokingly and pulled out your phone, “I’ll call us a ride.”
It didn’t take long for a cab to show up and the two of you slid into the backseat. You gave the driver the directions to your apartment and he pulled off, allowing a noticeable silence to take over. You looked over at Bucky who was glancing out the window, and when he turned his head in your direction, you quickly looked away, chewing on your lip. You kept your hands in your lap, mindlessly plucking at the hem of your blouse before sneaking another glance over at Bucky. His beautiful blue eyes were fixed on you, and you gave him a small smile.
There was so much tension in the air, it was hard to breathe. You silently thanked God as the cab driver pulled up on the curb outside of your apartment so that you could open the door and get some fresh air. There was something about the way that he looked at you that was unlike anything you had every experienced before. You knew, just from that one look, that he felt the same- and you weren’t sure how to feel about that.
“Thank you,” Bucky told the driver and passed him a tip. “Have a good night.” As the driver took off, Bucky turned to you.
“Well this is me,” you told him with a smile. “I’d ask you if you wanted to come up, but who knows what Steve and Natasha are doing up there since they blew us off.”
“Right,” Bucky laughed as he rocked back and forth on his heels.
“I had a really nice time, though.” You told him, not wanting to discourage him. “Who knew you were such good company?”
“There’s that smart ass remark I’ve been waiting for all night,” he laughed.
“Don’t tell Steve and Nat, but I’m kind of glad that they didn’t show up.”
“Oh yeah?” He asked, taking a tiny step towards you. “Why’s that?”
You also took a tiny step towards him and the gap between the two of you was closing inch by inch. “Because,” you managed to say whilst swallowing a lump in your throat. “I don’t think we would have had nearly as much fun as we did.”
“I’m glad you had a good time,” he said in what was barely a whisper as took the last step to close the space between you.
“Are you going to kiss me?” You asked.
“Do you want me to?” He replied, you could feel his breath.
You nodded and Bucky closed what little gap there was left between your lips. The kiss was soft and warm, and everything that you expected- but better. You could still taste the tequila and lime on his tongue as you explored each other’s mouths, and you gripped on to his sweater, pulling him as close as you possibly could. It felt like a long time coming, like you had always wanted each other, but weren’t able to admit it to yourselves. It was as if a weight was lifted off your chest.
And, quite literally, it was your dreams coming true.
You pulled back and caught your breath, smiling like a fool. “I, uh- Before I end up saying something really stupid and ruining the moment, I’m going to go.” Bucky smiled and shook his head. “But, just know I had a really great time tonight. So thank you for that.” You said as you backed away, almost running into the door as you turned around.
“I’ll see you later?” He asked as you pulled the door open and stepped inside.
“In your dreams, Barnes!” You replied, turning back around only to stick your tongue out at him and then disappear up the staircase.

May 27
I didn’t sleep well last night. I doubt I’ll sleep well tonight. My eyes hurt from crying but I still need to write this out.
Tumblr media
I spent the morning practicing what I planned to say with Josie. I wanted to go in with at least something to say, instead of staring awkwardly at him. I didn’t want to do it. I didn’t want to hurt someone I love. We were stuck in this limbo of sorts. I had to end it.
“Wish Mommy luck?” I asked Josie before picking her up and putting her back inside the house.
Then I was off…
Tumblr media
Joey let me in and sat back down to play chess. I talked to him briefly to see how he’s doing while I waited for Dakota. Talking to Joey anymore is like talking to a complete stranger. It’s funny, isn’t it? How someone can go from being such a huge part of your life to being a stranger. It’s sad.
I finally went over to the couch, removed my shoes and curled up on it. As the seconds slowly passed by, I felt my anxiety grow.
Tumblr media
He smiled at me at first, but soon the smile left his face as he joined me on the couch. “You’ve made your choice, haven’t you?”
I took a deep breath and released it. “Yes.”
Just like that, all my rehearsing on what I was going to try to say left me. I was already close to tears.
Tumblr media
I felt Dakota put his hands on my arm. “It’s him.” He whispered, but it wasn’t a question. It was a statement.
I nodded a little, sniffling. I was trying to force some words out, but before I could Dakota stood.
Tumblr media
“I’m not going to beg you to change your mind. I just thought…that I had a chance.” Dakota told me, his voice was strained as I sat up and got ready to get up off the couch.
“You did! I love you!” I declared as I stood up “But I realized, that while I love you…I’m in love with Caleb.” I finished quietly and ran my hands through my hair. “I never wanted to hurt you. I hate this. But I…I want you to be with someone who only wants to be with you, Dakota. Because you deserve that!”
Tumblr media
Dakota grabbed me and pulled me close as I started to cry. “I hate that I’m hurting you.” I mumbled into his chest.
“I know you didn’t want to hurt anyone.” Dakota told me softly. I realized that he was comforting me, when I was the one breaking his heart. That’s Dakota for you.
A few moments passed quietly, I could hear the crackling of the wood in the fireplace, Dakota breathing and my crying.
“I love you too…”Dakota whispered softly “A part of me always will, I think.”
“Same here.” I told him, maybe it would change in time? To a small part of my heart that has a love for someone and you can’t really label it. It just is.
Dakota took a deep breath and released it slowly “I’m…thankful that since this is how you feel that you didn’t…” he paused to think of how to put things “pick me when you wouldn’t be able to fully give your heart to me. I do want someone who will love me as much as I love them.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hugged Dakota closer as he held me. I still hate that I hurt him. I never wanted to do that. I fully well know that Dakota would have been the most logical choice, not only that, I would have been happy with him…it’s just that my heart would still be longing for someone else. That wouldn’t have been fair to him or right. I could have been stopping him from finding his mate. I’ll never forget him. I know that. He helped me not only during the whole Ciara situation but after everything went down with Joey. We had really good times together and I’ll always treasure those memories.
We said we’d keep in touch. I plan to do my part. I want to see him happy. I want to see him find his person, wherever and whoever they are.

Retirement 101: Ep 2
Tumblr media
In which Grandpa George gets food poisoning and Grandma Josephine contemplates life without him.
Tumblr media
Grandpa George woke early one morning with the sudden urge to throw up. It was unfortunate that their one and only bathroom was downstairs but he managed to make it there just in time.
Tumblr media
He lingered over the bowl for a few more minutes just in case another bout of whatever it was decided to come up unexpectedly.
Tumblr media
Just when he was about to press the flush button his stomach made a strange noise and he felt sudden movements in his bowls. ‘Oh dear god’, he mumbled and quickly pushed his pajama pants down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grandma Josephine walked in to find her husband brushing his teeth. ‘George..’ she started but didn’t finish. A horrid smell had just reached her nostrils. ‘...what on earth happened here!?’
Grandpa George spat out a mouth full of toothpaste into the basin. ‘Josie, I’m real sick,‘ he said and then rinsed his mouth out under the tap.
Tumblr media
‘Oh George, what is it?’ asked Grandma Josephine concerned and also desperately needing to go to the toilet.
‘Well it’s coming outta both ends so it’s gotta be food poisoning. Must’v been the damn food at the restaurant.’ said Grandpa George.
‘Oh my goodness. George, maybe I should call the doctor?’
‘I can’t think right now Josie, just gotta go back to bed.’
‘Okay then, rest up. I’ll get this cleaned up and bring you up some calming chamomile tea soon.’
Tumblr media
After cleaning up the mess in the bathroom Grandma Josephine put on a pot of tea for herself and her husband. She also quickly baked some marshmallow coconut squares, one of Grandpa George’s many favorite snacks.
Tumblr media
‘George?’ she whispered poking her head through the bedroom door.
Not wanting to wake him she placed a serving of the tea and squares on the table near the window and sat down in the armchair. She picked up and continued on knitting one of her many projects she usually left lying around the house, most of the time she forgot where she left the last one and then started another.
Tumblr media
Taking a break from her knitting, and also listening to Grandpa George’s snoring, Grandma Josephine made her way out to their backyard to potter around in the garden.
As she began pulling weeds from the plantar boxes she felt a growing concern for her husband. What if he didn’t get over this sickness? What if he got worse? She wondered if she could ever prepare herself for when that time came.
Not too long ago they had both discussed that topic and made preparations. It was Grandpa George who initiated the discussion and encouraged them to ‘get things sorted now, before it was too late’. Grandma Josephine agreed with her husband, but she found the whole task extremely unpleasant.
Tumblr media
Grabbing a bag of already opened bird seed from underneath her flower making bench she then walked over towards the bird feeder and poured in some seed. If that time ever came then at least she would have the birds to keep her company, she loved whistling to them and hearing them sing back to her.
She would also have the bees and the crickets, though she was never a big fan of the crickets herself and would probably just set them free. The bees however served a purpose and she enjoyed a fresh serving of honey on toast as a mid-morning snack.
She would also have her neighbours. The lovely couple that lived opposite them, Brent and Brant Hecking. Though she couldn’t remember when she had last spoken to them so she attempted to make a mental note to check in with them more often.
Tumblr media
During their many years together there has only been a total of two days they have spent apart from each other. One of them was when Grandma Josephine traveled for a work conference and the other was when Grandpa George had shoulder surgery.
They were soul mates and best friends. How does one say goodbye to that?
Tumblr media
She guessed that one doesn’t because there is no way to really prepare oneself for when it might happen. Still, she couldn’t stop thinking about the thought of not having her husband in her life anymore.
A couple of hours had passed so she made her way back inside to check on Grandpa George again. He must have woken while she was pottering around in the garden because both the mug and plate were completely empty. She let out a sigh of relief that he had been able to stomach something. This was a good sign.
Tumblr media
With her spirits slightly lifted she took the dishes downstairs into the kitchen and then turned the TV on. One of her favorite shows was about to start, Iron Chef. This show always gave her great dinner cooking ideas and sometimes she incorporated them into her weekly cooking schedule.
Tumblr media
Thinking that Grandpa George might not be able to stomach one of her normal dinner dishes she chose to cook up a batch of roast potatoes on the outdoor BBQ.
Tumblr media
While cooking she noticed Patches, the scarecrow in the corner of their backyard.
‘You want a serving too Patches?’ she asked the scarecrow. ‘Maybe you can keep me company too after George...’ but she couldn’t bring herself to say the words.
Meal times would be one of many things she would miss with her husband. He always commented on her cooking, as well as going back for a second serving.
Tumblr media
She walked up stairs with a serving of roasted potatoes and placed the plate on the table near the window. She glanced over at her husband who looked to still be sound asleep.
‘Josie, is that you?’  said Grandpa George, just catching his wife before she walked out of their bedroom.
‘Yes, it’s me George. I thought you were still sleeping’ said Grandma Josephine.
Tumblr media
Still feeling drowsy, Grandpa George slowly propped himself upright on the bed.
‘How are you feeling my darling?’ asked Grandma Josephine taking a seat on the edge of their bed. ‘I cooked up a light dinner, are you hungry?’
‘I think the worst is over,’ said Grandpa George rubbing his eyes. ‘Actually, I am quite hungry.’
Grandma Josephine grabbed the plate off the table and handed it to her husband. She watched him take three big mouthfuls immediately one after the other.
Tumblr media
‘Absolutely delicious Josie, thank you for this.’
‘Oh George, I’m so glad you are feeling better. For a moment I was quite worried!’
‘Just for a moment?’
Grandma Josephine placed an affectionate hand on her husbands knee and smiled at him.
Tumblr media
‘Well since you are feeling better I’m going to ride into town to get a few supplies,’ Grandma Josephine gave her husband a kiss on the cheek. ‘I didn’t want to go earlier incase you took a turn for the worst.’
‘Okay darling, ride safely. Think I might get a second serving of these. Mmmm, they are so good!’
Tumblr media
Grandma Josephine rode off into the sunset with a smile and a content heart knowing that her husband would be okay and that she would still have plenty of time left with the love of her life.

My thoughts for legacies 3x13: I’ll try to put the point chronologically
1. When Kaleb blew the candle, I’m so confused because the first thing that comes to my head is: he’s blowing that because is daytime, but why put it so far from Cleo? Why use a candle when you have electricity? And apparently I’m a fool, because that’s how the confinement spell works duh! I only recalled that when Alaric blew it in the end. I’m so dumb lol.
2. I love that Kaleb is the first to seek Cleo out, wanted answers and ready to accept them. When he tries to comfort Cleo in her memories, that’s me too! But apparently being the badass she is, she immediately come up with the idea of replacing her grandma to go with Malivore.
3. Poor Cleo! My heart sores when it started with a little girl, just like with Finch. She’s a hero! She’s so brave! She’s a queen! And weirdly she likes frogs(or toads?) very much. I wonder why. And although she tried to kill Hope last episode, I never see her as a villain. Never for a second. Instead I’m impressed. Tbh I didn’t understand why she is always playing with clay/mud since the beginning of this episode. But after her backstory, I just feel sad and proud at the same time. Sad because it’s shaped from her painful time of enslavement. Proud because she’s using the thing she learned from it against Malivore as her weapon despite the painfulness. I remember she talked about her sister dying, but nothing about that occurs in the memories. Did she lie before or it’s just another thing that the writers forgot?
4. ‘Jonch’ is horrible! I prefer Finsie as the ship name. Why is their moment always so cringy? I get this second embarrassment from them a lot, mostly from Josie tho. I always felt there’s something lacking in Finsie, just like what I felt when Handon started it’s kind of sudden. Maybe because of my perception, I really didn’t know why Josie think Finch is hot. I have to learn how to appreciate her beauty. But goof news, I actually appreciated Finsie first kiss, because I see why they haven’t kiss before, and why they finally kiss. It’s cute and the sparkling, haha. Tbh I start to appreciate Finch’s beauty from the kissing scene angle. But this episode, again, I still feel cringy in most of the Finsie scenes. I have to put my palm on my head. Anyway, I enjoy the “girlfriend” scene tho, like Finsie starting to grow on me(again, the first time is their first kiss, hopefully no more cringy afterwards). It’s really good to see Josie happy. Btw, since Finch decided to enrol, will she be the new alpha now that she defeated Jed? That’s good for her, she finally has a pack and no longer lonely.
5. Along with Finsie scenes, does anyone realise there’s actually other students there? And there are actually other witches at the school?? I remembered that there’s like only four witches? Because Josie was the only witch at the school when Berbelang!Hope happened? Annnndddd! To that! Does anyone remember there’s this girl Gaby/Gabby? She’s also a witch, and she loves dnd like Wade? They can’t tease us with Penelope using her then just let her disappear?
6. Oh great there’s actually other wolves at the school. I’m starting to think Jed is the only wolf left (of course there’s Hope, but she’s tribrid). As much as I enjoy Finch being badass that she can stand beside Josie, I felt so sorry for Jed and his actor. He’s been there for 3 seasons and yet Finch get a backstory before him. He has none! The actor is great, look at the siren episode! He hardly gets any decent lines and scenes now. Instead, they make him looked useless, hard to be respectable. Like anyone can just harm his alpha reputation. Justice for Jed please. Oh and the fact that Finch got a backstory before Kaleb too? It’s unacceptable. They deserve more. Jed doesn’t even have a last name, my god! Anyway that doesn’t change the fact that I want to hug baby Finch so much bc she’s adorable!
7. With MG gone, Kaleb looks like the only vampire left in the school. I miss MG. What about Ethan?
8. Josie and Cleo finally met! I’m glad that she’s learned something from her too. I think it’s true that other kids never felt as easy as Josie at the school. They finally addressed it.
9. I’m frustrated that Hope never wanted answers from Cleo. The only friend that helped her grieve. But hey maybe she’s too hurt to be able to bear Cleo in her sight. But then again there’s the Landon problem, so she’s off with Landon again. Only taking to Landon the whole episode, being the only one that only talk to one person in the whole episode. Feel bad for her about this. Poor Hope.
10. I really feel bad for Landon, because there’s a lot of hardships to make him like that. Someone please give him hugs and a therapist. The show is doing a full cycle by stating what he’d done is just like what Hope did when she returned from Malivore. I understand why he kept himself away, but weirdly, the way the let those words out, it feels like he wants to get back at Hope when I think he wanted Hope’s understanding. Maybe he wanted both?
12. Someone told me that every 13th episode is the episode where Landon’s power are explored. I kind of agree with it now. Because he’s finally having the fighting skills that he’s longing now. Finally he can achieve his desires to physically fight alongside Hope. For what though, I don’t know, because in the case of supercorp, Lena never needed it physically to be Supergirl’s partner in saving the world, or of course to protect Kara. Glad for him, anyway, bc that’s what’s he wants. And the blow to the head? It’s awesome.
11. I can’t believe Landon is blaming Hope for not coming to save him sooner?! What the hell? What happened to “I’m going to be the one that always fight to find Hope”, idk whether I quoted it precisely, but the meaning is there. I am furious. Is this some sick drama that the show wants Landon to think that Hope was not coming to him because she had a perfect version of him?? That aside, when I see that Handon is going to fight together physically, I actually think the scene is good and they will overcome the blaming thing, and going to be a power couple. Just when I have that thought, Landon have to fucking throw the artifact towards Malivore(whether it is Malivore I’ll discuss afterwards, it’s contradictory)!! That’s such a stupid move! Where’s your brain? And it’s broken, oh god. And the show have to show Hope being so weak during the fight. I mean why? She’s a badass, why do they have to make her weak to glorify Landon?? They made her look useless. These things just really kill the budding Handon spirit in me. The show really knows how to make people resent Handon and Landon. Just please change the show name.
12. Anyway to be fair, Landon do care for Hope and do love her. Before, though I don’t think they are endgame quality, I think that if they do improve, Handon endgame is tolerable, acceptable. But now, I’m not so sure of that anymore. Other than the above mentioned points, Landon did leave Hope for a solid third time. Why the show have to establish that for Handon when their fans desperately defended Landon that he wasn’t always leaving. I mean I’ve seen Handon shippers fought really hard against the “Landon is always leaving Hope” argument. What a way to make a couple being endgame. In Chinese proverbs, there’s a thing for a third time. Like the three strikes law, I think? It says not to do anything or tolerate anything undesirable that has happened more than three times. So please do not make Handon together ever again. It’s an insult to Hope too.
13. To see it differently, poor Hope will finally have time out of Landon to think of herself and her future. We need to see her having her own storyline. So maybe we can see Hosie eventually? Sorry Finsie for anticipating your break up in the future. But please enjoy yourselves when Hope grows on her own, because Josie deserves a decent relationship on screen too. Hosie didn’t interact this episode, I’m sad.
14. I just can’t help but wonder why Alaric oversee the artifact being destroyed so easily. And when Josie introduces Finch, she deserves a decent conversation with the headmaster, really. Oh he’s an adult, be a responsible and respectable one, especially you’re Josie dad. Help her with her impression with her crush. Alaric really need help, we need another adult figure. It’s okay that’s not Caroline.
15. I kind of thinking that Landon and Cleo are shippable too when I know that they are leaving at the same time. Cleo being the sole reason to Landon existence is one of the reasons to ship them. She’s the one that tell Malivore he can make vessels and create legacy, that leads to Landon existing. Not to mention she did literally made Golem Landon by hand (we all know the thing that Hope made doesn’t have a body, so Cleo must have made his torso and limps right). Or maybe we prefer wandon endgame? Wade is precious too, he’s the one that point out Landon is not himself.
16. I’m so confused by this episode Malivore. I thought Cleo trapped him inside that monster Handon defeated this episode. But if it was trapped this long? How did the pit, Clarke and Landon even exist? Did Malivore escape from it?? It must have escaped.
17. In the promo for the next episode, we’re seeing Lizzie and Hosie interaction! I’m excited! I think maybe Josie will be the one that bring Hope out of the cult’s enchantment. What will happen? Maybe they will realise something or develop something towards each other? Anything hosie that MAKE SENSE please. Oh and Hizzie friendship/banters, and Lizzie suddenly being and “angel” will be so fun to watch. Finally, the trio!
18. I know it’s irrelevant but since I mentioned Clarke, I miss Holarke. I have some shippable thoughts about Finch and Penelope too. P is the she-devil in good girl attire; F looks like a bad girl but she’s good hearted. They are both fiery, imagine what they’ll be like when they’re together, erupting volcanoes?
19. Applause to Aria’s acting skill, this is like the eleventh role he’s played in legacies? Original Landon, Hope’s (subconscious) Landon, Landon’s (subconscious) Landon, Josie’s SimuLandon, Hope’s therapy Landon, Malivore Landon, golem Landon, ptsd Landon, oni-possessed Landon, golem Landon micmicking Necromancer, Clarke-Landon. Keep up the good work!

Two Drifters | 3/3 Jeronica Secret Santa
@fangstomysweetpea oh my god.... its finally time!!!
The moment i’ve been aching for is finally here and i am HYPE
Happy Christmas my dear Tumblr-friend, I hope you enjoy this jeronica playlist/au/riverdale rewrite.
A couple things first, the descriptions on each song are just an outline as to whats happening in that moment/what the song calls for. Also, this is like a story, so its not really something you can play on shuffle lol. I’m confident you didn’t really need these “instructions” lmao, just want you to have a bomb-ass jeronica experience XDD
Also, you don’t have to “follow” the descriptions when you think them out, you can completely take the reigns too if you’d like!
So.... here ya go!!
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1MflcKtyBDRjnP0giX03X4?si=ZcsD0GfxR0KevhgDpTZVKQ
And here are the descriptions-
Oxford Comma-
Locking eyes for the first time… wow. Just- everything is in slow motion.
Baby Doll-
Slow dancing in Pop’s after the dance. (V goes to Pop’s instead of Archie)
Can I call you tonight?-
Jughead and Veronica’s moments of glee when they finally set up a date with each other. Veronica squeals and jumps up and down, Jughead punches the air, they both fall down on the bed with blissful looks on their faces. Two cinnamon rolls.
“So, I’ll call you tonight?”
“Yes! *Too enthusiastic- calm down Veronica* Yes. Call me tonight.”
*Que music*
Just Like a Movie-
Jughead calls this their theme song one day when they’re just hanging out in the student lounge as a joke.
Scrawny-
Veronica calls this Jughead’s theme song in response, they have a good laugh and Jughead rolls his eyes at the lyrics A LOT.
Space Girl-
Jughead calls this Veronica’s theme song- because she’s “oUt oF tHiS worLD!”.
She smacks his arm for being so cheesy.
Good Morning-
The morning after they do the “horizontal tango” with each other for the first time, they dance in Veronica’s kitchen, knowing all the words- only to be interrupted by an amused Hermione Lodge.
Unforgettable-
Their first Christmas together, spent snowed in at The Pembrooke. But honestly, they don’t mind.
Shake it out-
Jughead and Veronica cry together after her parents blackmail them/force them to break up. #parentssuck.
Your star-
Coping with the breakup, newsflash- they aren’t, or when they are... they don’t go the healthiest route. So. Much. Angst.
Rare-
Veronica changes up her style a little bit, which really is just lower cut tops, just trying to forget about Jughead- does a lil sexy performance singing to this at a pep rally.
Out the door-
Jughead never leaving the depressional stage of grief.
+ Exchanging broken looks that just scream “I’m not over you.”
I can’t get you off my mind-
Drunkenly hooking up at a party because their tension recently had just been… w o w
Drugs-
Sneaking around- sexy times ;)
Why Do You Love Me-
Having a screaming match, then a very angry/hot makeup session, then very angry sex XD
The Wind-
After some hOrIzOnTaL TaNGo at Sweetwater River, they admit that they can’t keep away from each other, saying that they love each other for the first time- followed by Veronica crying tears of joy cuz she’s never done that before- and that they’re going to work everything out, together. They just hold each other after that.
“I love you, Princess.”
Veronica props herself on her elbow to face him (they were laying down before)
Jughead sees her widened eyes. “Y-you don’t have to say it back, I know its ha-“
“I love you too, Jug”
You and I-
Montage of working at Pop’s for summer, ending with a jam sesh in Jughead’s trailer- Veronica just in his shirt and Jughead just in his sweats. FP comes in, surprised to see Veronica, but welcomes her easily. FP and Veronica bond, and he embarrasses Jug with some baby photos. While Jug’s probably beet-red, he can’t help but completely oggle at Veronica- happy that they don’t have to hide from his dad anymore.
Start a Riot-
Jeronica send a little message to Hiram through security cameras (they just make out lmao), showing that he can’t keep them apart. They then proceed to trash Hiram’s jingle jangle lab. :)
Moon River-
Slow dancing after having been crowned homecoming King and Queen. And of course, because Veronica is 1/2 of this relationship- this becomes their song.
“That’s us.”
“What do you mean?” Veronica asks, confused.
“The two drifters in the song. ‘Two drifters, off to see the world.’ That’s us”
Veronica’s eyes start to gloss.
“I absolutely love that. And you.”
Teenagers-
Being the badass power couple they are, being 100% team Serpent against the Bulldogs during the riots. Its all one long shot too- no cuts :))
A Sunday Kind of Love-
Looking at each other in slow motion (wow- I really love putting stuff in slow motion) when Veronica is officially named Serpent queen, they’re absolutely smitten with each other. Cut to them dancing in the Wyrm to the song, discussing how they’re going to make their big debut as Riverdale’s resident power couple… second to Choni of course.
“So… now that I’m your queen, I was thinking had a debut of sorts. Just to educate the public of this new order.” Veronica jabs, only kind of joking.
Jughead laughs, but it sounds more of a huff.
“Could you settle for a hand-in-hand entrance at school? Or would you be more comfortable with a red carpet event?”
Glory-
Veronica and Jughead walking into school as Serpent Royalty with matching Serpent jackets- no special colours thank you very much. You can bet your ass its in slow motion.
Worlds Apart-
Veronica crying at Jughead’s bed-side after the Ghoulies fuck him up.
Boss Bitch-
Veronica gets revenge on the Ghoulies and Penny Peabody with the help of the female Serpents, the River vixens, Hermione, Betty, and Alice.
Le Symbolique-
Veronica and Jughead reunite from his state of unconsciousness, this whole sequence is in slow motion, with a lot of white lighting/glare. Jughead almost died and just that thought alone KILLED Veronica.
“Jug I was so scared-“
“Shush Ronnie, let me look at you.” His teary eyes trace over Veronica’s face with a beaming smile, before he brings his girlfriend closer and kisses the top of her forehead.
Harmony Hall-
Some core four bliss before it gets chaotic again, with a side of Jeronica and Barchie cuddles.
Not Your Barbie Girl-
A River vixen performance, Jughead is so fricken in love with Ronnie right now cuz she’s just RADIATING empowerment.
Therefore I Am-
Jeronica sends Hiram to jail again after a bomb ass one liner from Veronica:
“Mija, you have no idea what you’re doing.”
“Only one thing’s false in that sentence Hiram, I’m not your Mija anymore.”
(HELP ME I CAN’T WRITE)
*Proud Jughead smirk*
This Life-
Veronica meeting JB and Gladys, them getting along great- just a wholesome Lodge/Jones get-together.
Don’t Call Me Angel-
Veronica changes her name to Luna, fully emancipating herself from Hiram, and this gets Jughead really turned on XD
Sway With Me-
La Bonne Nuit’s first successful night, Josie, Veronica, Toni, and Cheryl perform. Veronica somehow convinces Jughead to dance with her in public. Think Moulin Rouge’s Diamond Dogs type editing.
My Oh My-
Getting screwed over my Hiram, Veronica is in a TON of debt and needs some “stress relief” with Jughead. He obliges. Happily.
HIP-
Veronica and Cheryl start their rum business, Jughead helps and oml he’s so proud of her. Btw, Cheronica are HUGE badasses right now.
Bury a friend-
Surviving Eversgreen Forest and Penelope Blossom…
Youth-
The core four are free from the forest, successfully escaping Penelope Blossom. Jughead and Veronica share a tearful but happy kiss, laying down on the back of a truck.
Don’t Take The Money-
The core four hang out at pops and promise to have fun this senior year, Jughead steals Veronica’s cherry from her milkshake, but being so vulnerable to Midget’s (He calls her Midget. Yup.) puppy dog eyes, he makes it up to her by sharing his fries.
“And for a brief, shining moment, we were kids again.” all that good shiz
The Four Seasons: “Winter”-
Jeronica hangs with the Stonewall psychos.
(Online Love)-
Veronica and Jughead FaceTime and Veronica has this vibe like she’s the montage of the hero’s dead girlfriend in a movie. Like her hair is all splayed out on her pillow and she’s all smiley-
“You look like an angel right now- with your hair like a halo and how much you’re smiling.”
Veronica laughs
“Well it’s your fault I’m smiling you idiot.” Her voice softens towards the end of the sentence.
“I love you too, Ron.”
El Tejano-
Party at Stonewall, Jeronica are absolutely WASTED. Fun fact- Jughead get’s really into PDA when he’s drunk
Burned Out-
Oh shit… I guess Jughead is dead now. (dw, Betty’s still the one who “kills him”)
Claire de Lune-
Just kidding, he’s alive, and he and Veronica have a really cute moment in the bunker. Veronica starts reading his novel, per his request, and he just starts playing this on the record player and she smiles but her eyes are still on the book. He just kind of watches her, and when she starts beaming at the book he can’t help but kiss her right there. Then they just cuddle and little bit, Veronica on Jug’s lap, reading the book some more.
Girls Like GIrls-
Veronica has to prove Jughead is dead, so she and Betty kinda sorta… make out. Like, a lot. Betty is dating Archie at this point, and he’s the one who gets “mad”. But basically Betty and Veronica end up making out again cuz they spot Donna watching them. Veronica is a bi con, and Betty might be too but everyones in denial so *shrugs*.
Dream Lover-
(Time skip, because I’m lazy) Jughead’s alive again, sadly, his spot at NYU was taken by well, Veronica. Luckily, after pulling some strings, she surprises Jug with a full-ride acceptance letter from NYU starting second semester.
Magic Moments-
Yay! Prom! Barchie gets crowned king and queen (Beronica was kind of forgotten about, but thats fine, because we’re here for Jeronica first). While Betty and Archie are totally lost in each other, Jughead and Veronica are just kind of joking around on the side. While it’s Barchie’s moment, Jeronica is still looking pretty damn cute rn. Also, this becomes Barchie’s song!!
Oxford comma-
The song comes through the speaker at prom, Jughead invites Veronica to dance. As they sway, they gaze at one another like they’re seeing one another for the first time, to the song that started it all.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
And thats it! Thats Jeronica’s story from season one to season four, I hope you have a very merry Christmas and I hope you liked your presents! Also, if anyone feels like adding on to the dialogue or using any of the points in a fic or even making a whole ass fanfiction- please do!! I didn’t do this justice with my mediocre quotes so it would actually be preferred XD.
And again, happy Christmas :))

anyway we don’t talk enough about the poetry of caroline’s major love interests and what they mean to her so i’m going to be annoying and talk about ships,
it got long.
MATT  was literally everything she wanted as a human and he was so symbolic of her human desires and how hard she tried after turning to hold onto her humanity. he was sweet, and kind, and loyal and she would have happily spent the rest of her human with him and raised a small gaggle of children and had a dog and stayed in mystic falls forever. matt is, hands down, the love of her human life. and he’ll always mean that much to her, but they were doomed from the second she turned and like so many other things she tried to hold onto from her human life, she kinda knew in the back of her head that it wouldn’t last, no matter how hard she tried.
which is why  TYLER  is honestly the perfect epic love for her after matt, because he’s the opposite in every single way. he doesn’t hate her for what she is, he’s actually one of the first people who trusts her completely and includes her in the supernatural things going on in the town ( because literally up until season 3, the main mystic falls crew was still leaving her out of major plots, but that’s another meta entirely ). tyler loves her recklessly and passionately and entirely and is everything that she --- as a new vampire, enamored with all the power and potential that she now has at her disposal --- wants in life. except, she still has that part of her that’s too human to entirely be a vampire, and a part that’s too vampire to be entirely human. and she and tyler work during the periods when he relishes in his power as a werewolf and a hybrid, but they don’t when he starts to resent what he was turned into and when he decides to go seek revenge against klaus.
and still, even then, she holds onto him. because he’s the love of her newly immortal life, and he’s every bit the adventure and passion that she thinks should come along with an epic love. tyler’s the first person maybe in her life that puts her first, and loves her unconditionally, and doesn’t make her feel second choice to elena. he’s the one person she doesn’t have to hide from and who she doesn’t have to worry about whether or not he’ll accept her for what she is and truly, it’s tyler that ever shows her that she’s worth being loved like that.
and then, a short while later, you get  STEFAN . who, from the get go, is one of her people. her best friend. literally her dream guy  ( though she also knows that she probably doesn’t stand a chance with him because hello, his type is elena ) . and she’s fine with that. because he’s stefan. and he deserves the world. and stefan is one of the few people that she can love completely and unconditionally and he’s the first person that ever tells her that she’ll be okay and she actually believes him. stefan is the perfect balance between who the human part of her loves and who the vampire part of her loves. with him, she has the perfect blend of what she had with matt  ( softness, loyalty, acceptance, genuine love )  and tyler  ( passion, adventure, potential, endurance ).  and again, stefan is the love of her life, plain and simple. he would be even if they’d never kissed or gotten together. romantic or platonic, stefan salvatore is as important to her as elena and bonnie are. and in a way, he’s so perfect to her and for her that she should have known it would be doomed. because while she’s probably envisioning their happily ever after in some foreign country where they’ll take long strolls and learn to cook and spend the rest of their immortal eternity leading a small but meaningful life, she’s ignorant to the fact that while stefan is one of the great loves of her life, one of the great loves of stefan’s life is damon. and the problem with loving a man who is so determined to sacrifice himself for someone he loves, and who is so selfless in everything that he does is that inevitably, you lose them.
loving and losing stefan is that moment when the romance of immortality dies out. it’s the moment when she realizes that as incredible as epic loves are, they’re also painful. and she kind’ve gives up, for a little bit, after him. because stefan is everything she’s always wanted in love, their relationship was everything she could ever possibly want and everything that should have lasted and in the end she still lost it and what is she supposed to do now? with stefan, she didn’t just lose a love, she lost a friend, a mentor, a piece of her. he loves her selflessly and she loves him a little selfishly and it’s only in hindsight where she realizes that loving someone that selfless only ends in pain.
so here’s the thing then, she’s not good at being alone. she hates it, actually. and suddenly she’s in a position where her life is turned upside down and everyone she’s loved has left or died and this idea of what her life would be like as a vampire that she’s built up in her head is clearly wrong and what’s she supposed to do? because there’s this weird debate within her, see, between the part of her that wants a human love ( something solid and safe and gentle and secure that includes the very notion of growing old together but with someone who won’t ever grow old )  and the inherently monstrous part of her that wants a love that’s a little bit feral. because that’s her problem, see, she spent so much time clinging to her human life because she’s always felt a little guilty about how much she loves her vampirism, but part of her will always want someone who likes that side of her and likes that side of themselves. who will love her as a human but also as a monster. and i’m sure we all know where this is headed because i’m trash but that person, in a lot of ways, is kinda  KLAUS.
but here’s the thing, she never loved klaus. he’s just this weird enigma of a presence in her life that keeps popping up here and there and he’s an idea that haunts her, regardless of the fact that she knows she’ll never let herself go there, because she’s too tied to her human side. but by the end of the originals, in the few snippets that we see of her in new orleans, she’s different from the girl she was in mystic falls. and she’s starting to get to that point where maybe, maybe she’ll start letting her consider it. and selfishly, she wants to keep him there. right where he is. as a thought, and an if, and one of those places she has very firmly on the horizon that never seems to grow smaller but also never seems to grow bigger but is always there, as an option, you know? because it’s comforting. she doesn’t love him, but she likes the idea of him. she doesn’t love him, but she thinks that maybe she could. and by the time we get to the point at the end of season 5 of the originals when they have their little moments and she’s very clearly playing distraction ( which has always been their thing anyway, that’s the role she plays with him, that’s their whole relationship ), she probably comes to that realization. but again, it’s doomed. because of course it is. because selfishly she wants someone selfish, who will fight for her and who will accept her and who would love her in all the ways that are both gruesome and beautiful. but realistically, she only ever finds herself drawn to people who are more than that. and deep down she’s always kinda known that klaus isn’t the monster he’d like to appear as. because deep down she’s always known that again, he’s not the villain in her story. and in the end, she loses him too.
but along the way there are other loves, too. like  ALARIC  for example, but in hindsight she’s probably never sure whether or not that’s real love or not. and in hindsight, she’s probably pretty sure that it’s not, but they both need it to be, so it is what it is. she needs to feel human again, after stefan breaks her heart. alaric needs to feel like the world isn’t caving in. they both play pretend for awhile. he probably loves her as the version of her who she knows he’ll love. the version of her that she pretends to be for awhile, which obviously is all the good human bits that anyone would love ( and none of the messy dark bits, which no one would love ). and she’ll always love alaric, and she assumes he’ll always love her. but really, they only ever loved the ghosts of one another. they only ever loved one another to survive.
but the beautiful thing really is that the true loves of caroline’s life ( lives ) aren’t romantic at all. and that’s the thing, see, because she’s only ever wanted love. and she’s really only ever accepted the version that you get to swoon over in movies. and that’s the version she spent her entire life longing for and chasing after. and in between the heartbreaks of losing her epic loves, she found her enduring loves. which, not surprisingly, are bonnie and elena. and lizzie and josie. and people who will love her unconditionally, no matter how much they likely butt heads. people who have loved the human parts of her, but who also chose to love the monstrous parts of her.

Chapter 9
Tumblr media
(Banner made by sweet sunshine @harry-nofookingway-styles)
Harry X OFC (AU)
Sequel to Brutality: In which Melody and Harry must relearn how to navigate one another among a flurry of changes.
Read previous parts here.
Author’s note: This is what you’ve all been waiting for. ;) I really hope you enjoy. When you’ve finished, please send me some thoughts! About the chapter, about your life, about what’s going on in the world, anything. And also read this article about how to support black trans people! They are one of the most vulnerable populations right now. The article includes links to sign petitions and donate to funds. Love y’all. Xx
“Melody’s on her way home,” Josie said, continuing to scroll through her phone.
Harry wanted to go to bed. Josie had been here for nearly three hours and she had made herself right at home. Harry was tucked into the corner of the couch because she was spread across two and a half cushions, her head propped up on the sofa’s arm, her bare toes right beside him. She’d turned on a romantic comedy when she’d gotten here. It didn’t seem like she’d watched anything after the first ten minutes, and by now the movie had turned into an environmental documentary, but still she kept the remote shielded beneath her shoulder. If she had been a babysitter, she would have been the worst babysitter ever. No more than three sentences had passed between them, and one of the sentences had been when Harry finally gave up and asked her to help him to the bathroom just a few minutes ago.
So, when he realized that Josie was speaking to him and he processed her words, he let out one of the loudest sighs of his life.
Josie raised her eyebrows and glanced at him over the top of her phone. “You’re not having fun with me?”
“No,” he deadpanned.
“Good.” She smiled sarcastically at him. “I’m actually very entertaining but I heard you’ve been mean to Melody.”
“‘M not mean to—”
“Yes, you are. Cut her a fucking break, okay?”
His nostrils flared. “Why can’ everyone stay out of our fuckin’ business?”
“Something about you just invites people into your business, I guess.” She grinned at him again and her toes brushed the side of his leg and he wanted her and her stinking feet out.
The door cracked open and Harry heard Melody mutter, “Fuck, it’s cold out.” He twisted toward her. She was shivering, the hood of her sweatshirt pulled up and her hat concealing the top of her face. She shuffled further into the apartment and her muscles seemed tight. Harry could relate. He knew that even if he only took a few hits, soreness kicked in almost immediately after a match, as adrenaline withdrew from his limbs. His mind could finally relax during that withdrawal, but his body couldn’t, and Melody seemed to be the same.
“So?” Josie asked. She finally sat up and her feet were gone and Harry was grateful.
“I won,” Melody said as she pulled back her hood. Harry tried not to wince when he caught sight of the spot blushing at the corner of her jaw. Or the split in that same cheek, or the way she was pressing her tongue to the inside of her lip, like she was licking at blood. Josie didn’t react to her face at all.
“Well done, trooper,” she congratulated. She stood up and grabbed her jacket from the edge of the coffee table.
“Where’s Bea?” Harry asked, glancing between the two of them. He wasn’t enthusiastic about Melody having traveled home by herself after having spent all her energy.
“I’m meeting her at the club,” Josie told him. “You kids have fun.”
Harry frowned and Josie was out of the apartment before she’d even zipped up her coat.
“Were you nice?” Melody asked after a moment.
“‘M always nice.”
She let out a dry laugh and peeled off her sweatshirt. “If only,” she muttered.
Harry licked his lips as she tugged her beanie off her head. Her hair was tangled and wild and her fingers snagged in it as she tried to comb through the strands.
“Let me look at your face,” Harry said.
“It looks bad but it doesn’t hurt nearly—”
“Just let me look, Mel.” His voice was tender, not angry, and she dropped her things on the edge of the rug as she made her way toward him. She perched herself on the cushion beside him. He watched her arrange her torso cautiously, trying to avoid twisting herself too much, until her face hovered just next to his shoulder.
“Be gentle with me,” she whispered, and he was sure she wasn’t just referring to handling her injuries.
Harry caught her chin and tilted her head, peering at the bruise at the back of her jaw. He grazed over it to test how raised her skin was and she squirmed against his hold. The split in her cheek wasn’t bleeding but it looked fresh and sore and irritated, deeper than he had expected when he’d first glimpsed it from across the room. It was close to needing stitches, he thought, but had just missed the level of severity which would have left a lasting scar on her face.
“That one’s nasty,” Harry mumbled.
“You should see her,” Melody said, and she grinned as widely as she could without bothering her cut. Harry saw thin blood smeared over one of her bottom teeth. He peeled back her lower lip and found a deep gouge on the inner side. “It wasn’t even from a hit,” Melody explained, pulling the injured lip from his fingers and into her mouth. “I bit it.”
“Brutal.”
Melody smiled again and shifted toward the edge of the cushions. “I’m gonna shower. Do you wanna get into bed?”
“Sure.”
She helped him off the sofa and they moved slower than usual as she attempted to balance his body weight with her tired and aching muscles. Eventually, she sat him on the mattress and helped him slip out of his clothes. He sighed when he was left in just his boxers and she was struggling out of her leggings, and then she fled the room. The shower sounded from across the apartment, but it was mere minutes before she was back, clutching a towel around herself, her hair still tied back and dry, save for lingering beads of water.
“Yeh need some ointment and somethin’ frozen,” Harry ordered as she stepped into a pair of underwear. She gave him a skeptical look.
“You’re going to give me advice? Seriously?”
“Just go get them, Mel.”
She rolled her eyes, trading her towel for a billowing t-shirt and a fresh pair of underwear, which she yanked over her head as she wandered out of the room. When she returned with a gel-filled ice pack pressed gingerly to her blossoming bruise, Harry motioned for her. “C’mere.”
She climbed onto the bed and pulled the lamp across her night table, closer to them, as she settled on her knees just below the pillows. She placed a tube of antibiotic ointment into his outstretched palm and he twisted the cap off.
“Your lip stop bleedin’?”
“Yes,” she whispered.
Harry squeezed a generous amount of ointment out onto his fingertip. He settled the heel of his hand just beside where she held the ice pack and dabbed at the split in her skin. She winced and squeezed her eyes shut so tightly that they looked almost painful themselves.
“‘M sorry,” Harry breathed.
Melody shook her head almost imperceptibly. “It’s not your fault—”
“No, ‘m sorry,” he whispered again. She felt his lips flutter against one of her eyelids, then the other. His hand rested over hers, over the chill of ice against her skin. “I don’ wanna watch yeh fight, but ‘m sorry.”
Melody dropped her hand. The ice pack fell into Harry’s lap, onto his bare thigh, but his gasp was cut off as she folded their lips together. She tucked a hand—knuckles still branded with the memory of her wraps—into the longer sections of his new haircut. Harry tasted metallic blood on her tongue but he still clasped at her neck and kissed her back.
The bed creaked. Beneath his hands, Melody’s skin shifted, her limbs angling toward him, her muscles contracting at his touch. Her mouth turned fierce and bruising, needy. Harry couldn’t count the number of times that he had kissed her, but in all those times she had never felt like she was so desperate for the pressure of his lips. He met her in the middle, sliding his tongue across hers, careful not to touch her injured cheek.
Until she straddled his thighs.
“Stop,” he mumbled against her feverish mouth, against her warm and slick lips. “Mel, no.”
“Why?” She pulled back, settled her butt into the gap between his outstretched legs, and lowered her hands to his hips, where his once tight boxers now sat loosely against his skin. Her breaths shook. “Harry, did I do something? Are you still mad at me?”
“No, love. No, ‘m not mad.”
“Then what’s wrong?”
He watched her watching him. Fresh color painted her cheeks, unlike even the cold of deep winter could bring out. She was teething at her swollen lips, anxious, impatient. He could have swallowed her whole.
“Nothin’,” he mumbled half-heartedly.
“Harry, tell me what’s going on. Please. If you’re just not in the mood, that’s fine, but if there’s something else... If you’re not—if you don’t want—”
“What?” Harry let out an exasperated breath. “Yeh think I don’ want you? Melody.” His voice held a note of anger, frustration condensing into something larger, stronger.
Melody only looked more confused. “Well, then what? If you want me, then—”
“I can’ even bloody walk, Melody,” he grated out. It felt like his throat was beginning to close up. “Yeh think I can fuck you?”
They both fell silent. Harry felt the backs of Melody’s knees where they rested against his thighs, hot and heavy and pressurized. Her fingertips danced along the tattoos at his pelvis and he could’ve curled up right there, folded himself up until there was nothing left. He looked away from the unbridled shock in her face.
“You think being on top is gonna bother me,” she said as realization dawned. It was not a question.
“It will.”
“What? It won’t, Harry.”
“Bullshit.” His hands closed around her wandering fingers. She was looking at him like she always did when she got into these moods, and it wasn’t good for his head.
“Are you kidding? It won’t,” she repeated, more fiercely. “You act like I’ve never done it before. Trust me. I don’t even know where you would get that idea.”
He didn’t reply, but he let go of her hands and they fell flat against his chest, one sliding up to hold the side of his neck.
"The first time you made me come,” Melody began, and her voice was already wavering, shaky, “it was with just your fingers. That’s never happened to me before.” She pressed her thumb into his jaw. “Harry, look at me.”
Reluctantly, he met her gaze again. She bit roughly at the reddened skin of her bottom lip and shook her head. “You make it easy, Harry. I can get wet just looking at you, just thinking about you.”
“Oh, fuck,” he hissed. His head fell back against the bottom of the window’s ledge. His dick was twitching in his boxers, despite his anxiety, despite his apprehension, and he closed his eyes. Melody never talked like this and it wasn’t fair.
She was kissing his neck and her thighs were sliding forward against his and when had he started sweating? His fingers found the softest bits of her hips. She was whispering to him like out of a dream.
“Wanna ride your cock, Harry. Please, let me?”
“Christ. Mel.” He was trying to maintain control and he was losing. Badly. She was saying everything he wanted to hear and he was remembering the feel of her on his birthday, when his wrists had been tied up and he’d been completely at her mercy.
She grasped his wrist now and dragged one of his hands away from her hip, lower, beneath the hem of her baggy t-shirt. His knuckles brushed the lining of her panties and he was already hard for her but the damp fabric made him ache. He was a goner.
“Jesus Christ.” He flipped his hand over to press his entire palm against her dewy underwear and bent his neck forward. He closed his mouth over the soft cotton of her shirt, where he could see one of her hardened nipples straining against the material, and she arched toward him, her breaths grating in her throat.
Melody’s fingers curled around Harry’s hair again. She was grinding down against his hand. His tongue, even through her shirt, felt rough against her sensitive nipple, and his skin felt hot as he reached up her sides, rolling her tee up her torso. She gripped the hem and pulled it over her head when he disconnected his mouth from her.
Harry’s eyes devoured Melody’s body as she tossed her clothes off to the side. He’d seen her naked only the night before but he wasn’t yet used to this toned, fuller version of her. He licked his lips and she was already peeling at his boxers, wiggling them under his ass and down his thighs, batting the forgotten ice pack off of the bed. She gave up on his underwear quickly, when his dick was freed, and then she was kicking off her own soaked panties.
“Missed you,” she breathed as she climbed back into his lap, kissing down his jaw. “Missed you so fucking much.”
Harry wrapped his arms around her waist, felt the length of her body pressing against him, the heat of her. He kissed her with equal fervor when she found his mouth. Strands of her hair were stuck to their lips but neither of them cared. Harry’s hands were splayed over her ribs and they slipped back to press into her spine as she curved her breasts into his chest.
“Mel,” he rushed when he felt her core sliding along the underside of his cock. He choked on his next breath. “Condom. Need a condom.”
“Uh-uh,” she hummed. “Don’t need one. I’m taking birth control.” Her elbows settled atop his shoulders, fingers combing through his hair. “Please,” she added. “Wanna feel you come.”
Harry’s entire body was on fire. He’d never heard her this forward, this confident and deliberate in her wants. She seemed almost liberated. And she wanted him raw. He groaned again, feeling sweat bead along the perimeter of his forehead. Melody was shifting impatiently in his lap,
“Got me hard, love,” Harry growled finally, delivering a hard kiss to her chin before his mouth dragged down her throat. She tasted like soap but she smelled so familiar and he was aching, painful to be inside of her. “Better fuck me like yeh mean it.”
She whimpered and Harry’s head was spinning with that noise as she reached down to slip his cock inside of her. And she did it again, that desperate, throaty sound, as she lowered her hips until she was full of him. Then she paused and planted her forehead on his shoulder.
“Oh, Jesus—fuck. Wha's wrong?” Harry mumbled. His fingers were curled into the skin on her back and his pulse was racing already, like he was finishing up a marathon, though they hadn’t even started.
“Nothing. Feels good,” Melody choked out. “It’s just...been a while.” Her thighs tightened against his hips and he wanted to fuck her so badly, to throw her back against the mattress, that he had to bite his lip until it hurt enough to divert his thoughts. He physically could not fuck her. Even if it didn’t bother her, it made him shake with frustration. His hands drifted down to her backside and pressed into her skin—just a hint. He wanted her to move. Needed it.
She swallowed and tucked her ankles back under her thighs so she was on her knees. Even with such a small movement she could feel the shift of Harry inside her, feel how deep he sat and how he stretched her, and she gasped. It felt like their first time all over again. But she rose up on her knees and sank back down.
“Good as yeh hoped?” Harry hissed between his teeth. She was wet. Wetter than she’d felt on his hand, through her panties, even when she’d been pressed up against him.
“Better,” she assured him. Her body still ached with the after-effects of her fight, but nothing could have hurt enough for her to stop. Her very blood was singing.
“Like yeh mean it,” Harry reminded her in a rocky whisper that tickled her ear.
Melody rolled her hips in an achingly purposeful movement. Harry slid an arm back up around her waist and hummed brokenly as she sank herself down on him, quick and needy.
“Fuck,” Melody breathed as she felt the tip of him nudge a place deep inside her that hadn’t been reached in months. She grappled with his hair, her fingers slipping out of the short strands before she could catch a handful and pull his head back. She lifted her mouth to meet his, messy and sharp and wet, teeth and tongue. A mirrored moan passed between the kiss, from one mouth to the other and back again, as she settled into a rocking pace that squeaked the bed frame beneath them.
“Yeh hurt?” Harry mumbled against her mouth. She was wincing almost imperceptibly, subconsciously as she nibbled on his lip.
“Good,” she whispered back. Sweat was gathering on the backs of her thighs and her skin was slick where it met Harry’s. “Hurts in a good way.”
His hips jerked upward of their own accord as he felt her clenching around him, somehow impossibly tighter than before. His head fell to the side and Melody’s lips disconnected from his with a resounding smack.
“Don’t,” she gasped. “Don’t do that.”
“What?”
“Too much,” she grated out.
“Wasn’ on purpose, Mel,” he told her with a weak chuckle. He felt like he was overheating. The lamp was suddenly too much light and the moon felt like it could burn him with the ferocity of the sun.
Melody was forcing herself to rock steadily on top of him, careening forward until she met his pelvis and there was delicious pressure as her clit rubbed up against him. His skin was sticky there, but he was pulling her, pushing, encouraging her. And her lower stomach was tight, still aching, but beginning to spasm.
“Harry,” she muttered. “I need to...need to slow down. I can’t—”
“Yeh can.”
She shook her head and then dropped it back to the slope of his shoulder, huffing against his skin. The outline of his hand was firm against her ass, guiding her.
“No, no, I’m gonna come already.”
“Then come,” he rasped into her ear. “And yeh can come again to finish me off. Feel so fuckin’ good on me. Yeh want that?” He cut himself off with a wild, throaty moan at the way her body was tensing against him, how her hips convulsed and broke her rhythm. “Want me to come inside yeh?”
“Yes,” she rushed. “Yes, wanna feel it.”
“Let me feel yeh first. Come on me.”
Melody was gasping as he whispered into her ear. There was a high-pitched whine that caught in her throat with every breath. His arm tightened around her waist until she could feel its pressure on her ribs, limiting her air.
“Show me how much yeh missed me, Mel. How much yeh missed my cock.”
She was finishing before he had spit out the end of his sentence. Her fingers bit into his scalp as she writhed in his lap, chanting his name against his neck. Harry’s body was twitching with the pulse of her walls.
“Oh, fuck,” he grunted, wrapping a hand around her ponytail as a sort of anchor. He was close, too. But he really wanted that second orgasm from her. She deserved it.
“Oh God, fuck, fuck.” Melody’s voice trembled as Harry yanked her head back and forced her to keep riding him with the grip he had on her waist, though she hadn’t come all the way down yet. She was reaching back to clamp a hand above his knee as a point of balance when both of them heard a key in the door to the apartment.
The both of them fell deathly still when they heard muffled voices.
“It should be unlocked. Melody’s home.”
There was a girlish giggle as the door crashed into the wall just inside the kitchen. A harsh “sh” and then another louder giggle.
Harry let go of Melody completely and reached for the sheets, pulling them over his legs and up to her hips. She was shaking her head against his cheek, her breaths still heaving, hands tight against the nape of his neck.
“No, please don’t,” she whispered urgently, her lips brushing the shell of his ear. “I don’t wanna stop. Want you to finish.”
“Mel—”
“Josie, you’ll wake them up.”
Melody shifted in Harry’s lap and his hands flew to her hips to hold her still.
“Mel,” he pressed.
“Please,” she begged. “Come inside me, Harry. I want it. Want your cum.”
He swallowed almost painfully and blinked up at the ceiling. His throat was strained and his whisper cracked as he tipped his head forward. “Gonna fuckin’ kill me.”
His hips betrayed him as she breathed another desperate “please” and wiggled atop him.
Someone slammed a cupboard in the kitchen and Melody lifted a few inches before sinking back down. Harry was focusing all of his energy on keeping quiet. Melody was grinding on his dick, slower, to prevent the squeak of her bed, but deliberately. And he was seeing stars.
His teeth closed on the slope of Melody’s shoulder, his eyes watering as he watched the doorway, cock pulsing as he emptied everything he had inside of her. She gasped into his ear, the quietest intake of air. His fingers pressed into her skin as his resolve slipped and he drove up into her once, at the end of his high, with a sudden wave of strength. He finished and, miraculously, neither Bea nor Josie had tried to peek around the open door. He could hear their voices fading across the living room as they retreated to Bea’s bedroom. The click of her door was sweet.
“Christ,” Harry grunted through his gritted teeth when he had disconnected from Melody’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, leaning forward to rest against him. “I’m sorry but also I’m not.” She took a moment to fill her lungs and then shook her head disbelievingly. “That felt so good.”
Harry closed his eyes, still gasping, his head propped back against the windowsill. He dragged his fingers through Melody’s ponytail and chuckled weakly into her cheek.
“What the fuck are yeh thinkin’, Mel? Yeh want Bea to—”
“I wasn’t,” she cut in. “I wasn’t thinking. I just wanted...yeah.” She swallowed around her words and then pressed a slow kiss to Harry’s jaw.
“Well, yeh got it, didn’ yeh?”
Melody laughed and then nodded before she began to slide out of his lap. She bit into her lip as the stretch of him receded, and she felt him trickling down her leg. She hoisted herself off of the bed.
“I’m gonna run to the bathroom and I’ll bring a cloth to clean you up.”
“Oi,” Harry called when she was at the door. “Aren’ yeh gonna put somethin’ on?”
“What? Why? Bea—”
“Likes girls,” Harry finished.
Melody snapped her mouth shut and struggled to hold in her giggles. Harry could see her pressing her thighs together and he slid down the bed a few inches, his chest tightening at the sight.
“Do you want me to put something on?” she asked him after a few seconds. There was still a hint of amusement in her voice, but she seemed more collected.
“Yes.”
She sighed and collected the shirt he’d worn that day from the floor, yanking it over her head and then rushing from the room without another word. He could hear the water running in the bathroom and then she was back less than two minutes later. She tossed a damp cloth in Harry’s direction and he caught it with a lazy hand.
“Thanks.”
Melody climbed back into bed over Harry as he cleaned up, shuffling the rumpled covers around until she could fit her legs beneath them. She waited for him to fling the dirty cloth into her hamper, tug up his briefs, and then switch off her lamp before she snuggled down and laid her head on her pillow. Harry shifted beside her, invisible as her eyes adjusted to the new darkness. She felt his shoulder graze her wrist.
“Thank you, Harry.”
“What?”
“Thank you. For trusting me.”
Harry was silent. Melody felt for his hand beneath the sheets and laced her fingers through his. She leaned in to press a kiss to his jaw, then to his cheek, and was reminded so vividly of the very first night they had shared a bed, when he’d let her help him home and clean up his wounds. When he had first kissed her. Though, that night, there had been more layers of clothing and space to separate them while they slept.
Melody settled her cheek against Harry’s pillow, just above his shoulder, where she could feel the ends of his hair tickling her nose. “I want you always,” she whispered, “any way I can get you. Please, remember that.”
Harry took a deep breath and squeezed her hand in his.
***
Melody woke in the middle of the night with a shriek and a jerk of her body that shook the entire bed. The room was dark, nearly pitch black, and the lack of sight did nothing to ease her twinged nerves.
“Mel?”
She toppled sideways, away from the fingers that grazed her side, and clapped her hand over her mouth to muffle another cry. Her heart was racing beneath her ribs, pounding so hard she was sure her bones would splinter. Her limbs ached with the quick flow of adrenaline through her veins.
“Hey, hey. Mel.”
One moment she was standing over Harry’s motionless body, blood pooling around his head, sticking hair to his face, and the next she could see nothing but darkness. But there was no separation between those two spaces, only terror.
She shook again as the fingers curled around her elbow, but they were familiar, hot and rough on her skin. She blinked into the black but couldn’t make out the face leaning over her.
“‘S me. Wha’s wrong?”
Melody slipped her hand further up her face to her eyes, where tears had already collected and begun to spill over. Harry spoke again, but she didn’t hear what he said. She let out a faint sob.
“Hey, c’mere.”
Harry’s other hand slipped beneath her shoulder and he was able to pull her upright. She was stiff beneath his touch, her bones set and her muscles coiled under her skin. He settled her cheek into his collarbone and wrapped his arms around her.
“Shh,” he whispered, “yeh’re okay. Yeh’re here with me. Yeh’re okay.” The words felt foreign on his tongue, but they sounded familiar. He saw a faint glimpse of himself curled up on his own bed back in England, his mother holding him as she whispered similar words into the night. This reaction felt almost instinctual. “I’ve got yeh. Shh.”
The living room light burst into life and when Harry squinted in that direction, he found Bea in the doorway of Melody’s room, folded up inside a robe. She took a moment to survey the scene. Melody was draped across Harry’s chest, Harry wrapped around her like a blanket or a shield—a cocoon, even. Bea took a quiet step backward and disappeared.
Harry buried his face in Melody’s hair and stroked her damp cheek. She was shaking in his arms, her panting breaths thick and staggered against his skin, but eventually her fingers curled around his wrist, where she could feel the steady beat of his pulse.
Bea reappeared, a glass of water in her hand, and she tiptoed across the floor to set it on the night table before giving Harry an approving nod. Then she hurried from the room, shutting the door with a soft click and leaving them once more in darkness.
“Take a breath, Mel.”
Melody let out another panicked sob and Harry clutched her closer.
“No, no,” he whispered. “Breathe, baby, c’mon. What d’yeh need from me?”
Melody gasped a sharp inhale and shook her head vehemently. Instead of answering, she fumbled her way closer to Harry, until she was in his lap and she was pinching his leg with her hip just right to cut off his circulation. He shifted her minutely, just until she was between his thighs, and then pressed a kiss to the top of her burning forehead. He could already feel her respiration beginning to even out as an arm looped around his waist, fingers grappling at his back.
“Okay?” he asked as he smoothed back hair from her ruined ponytail.
Melody heaved a sigh into the crook of Harry’s neck and he felt her nod almost imperceptibly. It could have been hours that he sat with her in that darkness, patiently waiting for her to calm herself down, but it was only a few minutes. And then she pulled his hand away from her cheek and sat up straighter, swiping at the tear tracks that stained her face.
“I’m sorry,” she muttered, blinking blindly, “for waking you up and...you know.”
“Mel, don’ apologize to me for that.”
“Well, I didn’t think the second night you were here—” She cut herself off and ran her fingers quickly through her hair, pulling the loose tie from the ends and losing it in the sheets.
“‘S fine, love. Don’ worry about it.” Harry shifted a hand forward until his knuckles brushed her calf. “That happen a lot?”
“No...less this past month.”
Harry reached his other hand out and stumbled over the table for the glass of water Bea had left. “Drink this,” he suggested, holding it out for Melody to take. When he’d heard her take a few sips, he allowed himself to lean back against the wall and sift his fingers through his hair. “D’yeh wanna talk about it?”
Melody swallowed another mouthful of water. “No,” she said, before chugging the remainder of the glass and then reaching to set it back on the table. “I really, really don’t wanna talk about it.”
Harry grunted. Melody clambered out of his lap and laid down, pulling the blankets up to her chin. She was shivering, she realized, and she tried to control the vibration of her body, but it just made her limbs ache.
“Yeh wanna go back to sleep? Just like that?” Harry’s eyes and the receding cloud cover finally cooperated enough for him to see the outline of Melody’s features. Her jaw was working, her eyelids fluttering. He shifted back down the mattress, laying on his side, and reached up to turn her face toward him.
“Yeh’re still shakin’,” he observed, running his hand down to her shoulder and tugging her body closer to him. “Let me hold yeh.”
Melody said nothing as Harry laid an arm across her and tucked her into his chest, settling his chin against her hair. Uncomfortable chills were running through her limbs and she felt the heat of Harry radiating through the bedsheets. She felt more vulnerable than ever before and it was making her eyes wet all over again.
“Melody. Stop holdin’ your breath.”
“I’m not. I—”
“You are. ‘M right here, love.” Harry kissed her head and sighed at the closeness of her. “I’ve got yeh, okay?”
“Okay.” Melody blinked furiously to hold back another onslaught of tears.
“Try to sleep.”
They laid together for a long while like that, Melody blinking up at the ceiling and Harry’s breath stirring her hair, his hand occasionally stroking her arm through the blankets wrapped around her. Her mind was racing, but eventually she was lulled to sleep, and Harry followed, an hour later, when he was convinced that this time her sleep was peaceful.

How about TK and Carlos at the club with Paul during that episode, maybe a little bit of ~heated~ dancing, and Paul and TK having a talk about his relationship with Carlos while he’s getting a drink? :):):)
Hiya! Thank you so much for sending this to me! Sorry it took so long. I tried my best to write it. But please know I have never entered a bar or club in my entire life so there might be some inaccuracies on that front. But I hope you like it!
***
TK had never particularly liked clubs. There were too many people, too much alcohol and not enough room. Back in New York, he had spent a fair amount of his free time in clubs. It was mostly where he had gotten his fix for drugs and alcohol, where he would have meaningless sex with guys, where he would go to completely forget his life. He had become a whole other person in those situations. A person that he had longed to forget ever existed in the first place. But as Carlos pulled his Camaro into a parking space in front of the one he had suggested they go to to help Paul get over Josie, TK couldn’t help but feel weirdly excited. Paul on the other hand was very excited.
TK could feel his anxiety spike slightly as they entered the building. It was like almost every club he had ever been too. Music blared and strobe lights pierced through the darkness creating silhouettes of the dancing figures on the crowded floor. As Paul moved ahead of them, TK looked to Carlos, feeling himself instantly being grounded just purely from the sight of him, standing there. He felt a smile pull at his lips as he stretched his arm, wrapping it around Carlos’ waist and pulled him close. Having Carlos there with him had made this experience different from the others. He had felt safe.
Paul turned to look at them, a look of shock on his face. “Y’all sure we’re still in Austin?”
“Hey,” Carlos called to him through the noise. “I wouldn’t stereotype if I were you, man.”
TK saw more than heard Paul laugh. “Good point.”
TK moved from Carlos to grab Paul’s shoulders. “Keep Austin weird, baby. Now come on, let’s dance.”
TK turned back to grab Carlos’ hand and pulled him towards him. Their bodies collided softly together and TK proceeded to wrap his arms around Carlos’ neck while Carlos wrapped his around TK’s waist. The time was spent allowing their close bodies to move together to the beat of the music, with stolen kisses and smiles as they enjoyed themselves. As TK enjoyed himself. For the first time in a long time.
At one point, after they had been moving for quite a while, Carlos had groaned in TK’s ear. “Tiger, you have got to stop dancing like that against me, where I can feel,” Carlos paused, shivering. “Everything, because you are driving me insane.”
TK smiled, innocently. “I’m sorry. It’s not my fault you’re so damn attractive.”
Carlos rolled his eyes, a smile playing on his lips. “Says you.”
TK felt a blush creep up along his neck and cheeks, not sure if it was from the heat of the club or Carlos’ comment but nonetheless, he moved away. “I’m going to go get some water. Want any?”
“I’m okay.”
TK nodded before he turned to move through the crowd of people, setting his sights on the bar. As he approached, he spotted Paul leaning against the counter and he finished up ordering before turning to TK. “Hey man! Thanks so much for bringing me here, I’m having a blast.”
TK smiled. He had felt terrible since that afternoon when Paul had finished talking to Josie and he had really missed Paul’s smile. He never wanted anyone to make it falter ever again.
“Actually, it was Carlos’ idea.” TK said.
Paul smirked at him. “Oh yes, Officer Reyes. How long has that been going on?”
TK pretty much choked on air. “What?”
Paul shot him a disapproving look. “Oh no, don’t try to play that game with me TK. You two have pretty much been rubbing up against each other since we got here. I’m not blind. So spill it.”
“Okay,” TK had to break, if he didn’t, Paul would never leave him alone. That was what it was like having a best friend he guessed. “I guess you could say basically since our first call. But that night we were all at the bar and we all line danced, that was kind of what sold it.”
“So you two are dating?”
TK couldn’t help the feeling of dread that hit him in the chest at the word. It was such a sore subject and as much as he would love to date the amazing man that was Carlos Reyes, he had many personal obstacles to jump over. He managed to shake it away. No way he was allowing such personal problems to ruin his amazing night.
“We’re just hanging out.” TK said. “I mean, he’s incredibly nice and so sweet and I really like the idea of being with him but it’s just hard after what happened.”
“Hey, I get it.” Paul cut him off. “If I were in your position, feeling the heartbreak you have felt, I wouldn’t be exactly jumping into relationships either.”
“Yeah but I mean it’s more than that. Sometimes I feel like I’m maybe not good enough for him. I’m pretty damaged when it all comes down to it.” It was the first time TK had said the words out loud. That’s what scared him the most about Carlos. He had realized that the day he had walked home from Carlos’ after their disaster dinner. That was the one thing he hated about himself. He was so self-loathing.
“Now that I don’t believe. You are a pretty good guy in my books.” Paul said, nudging TK’s shoulder with his arm. “Even if things don’t go anywhere for you guys, it’s nice to have someone and it’s nice that you two have each other.”
TK smiled softly. “Yeah he’s nice company.”
Paul scoffed.  “Oh ew, I didn’t need to know that.”
TK rolled his eyes. “I didn’t mean it like that. I meant to talk with.” Although the sex was amazing. “Found that out after he arrested me.”
“Excuse me?”
TK hadn’t realized what he had said until he said it and he quickly turned to look at Paul. “Oh shit. You weren’t supposed to know that. Look, I was stupid and an idiot for one night and I got into a dumb fight. That’s it. But I’d really like it if you could keep that between us. My dad doesn’t even know.”
“Okay, your secret is safe with me. But we are definitely going to talk more about that later.”
TK nodded. “Ready to go back in?”
“Hell yeah.”
TK turned to follow Paul back out to the dance floor. Carlos stood in the same place TK had left him. TK had admired everything about him in this moment, the way the light hit him made his skin glow and his brown eyes were darkened so much that they almost looked black. If TK had any of the self confidence that he wished so badly for himself to have, he would ask Carlos right now to be his.
Carlos smiled at him in a way that sent chills down TK’s spine and TK instantly felt himself gravitate back towards him, their arms wrapping around each other again and their bodies closing in together. TK buried his face into the crook of Carlos’ neck, inhaling the scent of the man. They didn’t say anything because they didn’t have too.
And TK had thought life couldn’t have been better.

Riverdale 5x15 Review
I really loved this episode. I do think it was more of a stand alone episode as it didn’t really contribute anything to the overall plots of the season but it was still a very entertaining one. I kind of got the same feel from it as I did from those earlier episodes of the time jump and I think its because, like those earlier episodes, it was something new, the focus was new but it still had that nostalgia about it. I loved the focus that was given to the pussycats and the other POC on the show particularly the WOC. So lets go through the episode naturally these are just my own thoughts and opinions and there will be spoilers.
The Pussycats
The episode starts out with a new narrator and this time it is Melody that is narrating instead of Juggie. I also love how she starts out saying ‘this is a story about a town’ but then changes it to ‘no this is a story about three girls.’ I like that emphasis that this is focussed on the pussycats and not the usual Riverdale town plots. We get given some information on what Val and Melody have been up to in the seven years+ since we last saw them. Melody is now a published writer and Val is an activist and actress looks like she also does alot of painting. They both are in healthy relationships. I have to say I did love how supportive Alan, Val’s boyfriend is of Val and how he doesn’t rush her on the whole marriage thing if she isn’t ready. Also love the relationship between Melody and Nancy and again they seem very supportive of each other and like I said both relationships seem very healthy. Also I love getting more backstory on them both especially Melody because she barely talked the last time she was on the show and the actress is very good so I am glad that she was given the chance to shine in this episode.
Josie arrives at Pop’s and it was really adorable seeing Tabitha fangirling over  Josie. But right away its a bit of a mystery as too why Josie is back and I actually like that they didn’t tell us right away. I did think it was a little cheesy when Josie began to sing ‘It’s All Coming Back To Me Now’ but its the kind of cheese I like and I love that song, it the kind of song you just have to sing along with, plus Ashleigh did an amazing job with the song. I also think it worked well with the trip down memory lane that she takes. Also those dresses the three girls were wearing when Val and Melody showed up were stunning. All three of them just looked amazing. Also it leads into one of the best moments in the episode which is when Hiram comes to Josie’s room complaining about the noise and she calls him a little b*tch, not once but three times. I just loved how sassy she was in that scene and not intimidated by him at all. Josie goes to the school because she wants to do some writing and wants to use the music rooms which makes sense if she is trying to kind of go back to her routes and reconnect with herself then she spent alot of time writing in those rooms. Through teaching a music class as payment for using the rooms she reconnects with Archie who convinces her to come out with the gang that night. Once again we see Josie’s no holds barred attitude come through when she calls everyone out on all the crap from the past, pointing out that she was never given a choice during there old times to veronica, about jughead robbing pop’s, betty never really talking to her in school and Cheryl with the pig’s heart. As she is leaving she runs into Sweet Pea and I think he is exactly what she needed at that moment, he was able to offer her that comfort she was looking for and they were super sweet with each other.
Josie reaches out to Melody and Val and they all meet up at the Whyte Wyrm, I think Josie was really looking to reconnect with them both because they were such a big part of her time in Riverdale as were the Pussycats. Josie is hoping they’ll record a track with her for old times sake. I do love that when she asks if they still perform both girls get their own solo performances. They kill it too I really enjoyed the songs in this episode and it does make me wish we had seen more of them in previous seasons, I think episode really did show just how much their talent was wasted in those earlier seasons. Also I am glad that they called Josie out on the way she treated them back then and how she didn’t appreciate them. But I also like that when they left it wasn’t on nasty terms you know, they weren’t trying to tear Josie down or be hurtful or mean they were just saying it how it was.  They tell her that it was good to see her and they promise to think about making the track with her.
When Josie gets back to her hotel room her mother is there and we see Josie just break down in tears and we find out her reason for coming to Riverdale, whilst in Berlin she gets a call from her mother telling her that her father passed away suddenly from a heart attack. Devastated and unable to perform she just leaves it all behind and heads back to Riverdale hoping she could disappear for a while. As a quick side note here one thing I am confused about and that is are Tom and Sierra still married? Because Josie is surprised her mother is in Riverdale but that could just be because she was expecting her mother to be in New Orleans dealing with her father’s death as Sierra told Josie on the phone that she would deal with it all. But also at the end of the episode Sierra leaves with Josie. Yet I am pretty sure I saw her wedding ring still on her hand. Also in Katy Keene which I am pretty sure was set five years after the original Riverdale timeline so two years ago in the current Riverdale timeline Josie introduces Kevin as her stepbrother so if Tom and Sierra did break up then it was in the last two years. On top of that in ep 11 which I think is the last time we saw Tom he was wearing a wedding ring. So many questions. But anyway back to business. Sierra calls Val and Melody and I love her for this, she clearly understood that her daughter needed her friends support in that moment and so she explains that Josie had just lost her dad and this is what urges them both to agree to record a track with Josie but they also decide to do a one night only concert to help raise funds to reincorporate Riverdale. Josie is inspired to do this because she was given a second chance by Val and Melody and so she wants to give the gang and Riverdale a second chance too. I do feel like that has been a theme of this season, of making amends, mending broken relationships and starting over, of healing. I think last season was very much about exposing the trauma the town has gone through and this season is about trying to heal that trauma.
So we are treated to some more amazing musical performances from the Pussycats and I actually got a really warm fuzzy and very nostalgic feeling when I saw them back up on the stage with that Pussycat symbol behind them. Also the way it was shot just looked really cool, how it started out with just their silhouettes. It was also really great seeing those iconic cat ears and tails again. Josie also had a really emotional performance when she sang a song for her dad and she sees him there. Ashleigh did an amazing job and it did bring me to tears. Come the end of the episode the three girls talk about how good it felt to perform together again and how right it felt. So they all decide to go on tour together. When they are boarding the bus we learn that Alan has chosen to go with Val on the tour but sadly Nancy will not be and her and Melody have a really sweet seeing Melody off scene where Nancy assures her that they will talk on the phone all the time. Again loving the supportive significant others. Then Sweet Pea shows up and asks if he could come with them too which is another sweet moment. I am sad to see Sweet Pea go but I am also happy that he is going with Josie and that they can be happy together. Just before they leave Josie replies to her mother asking if she is ready to go with ‘Unless this town has anymore surprises for me’ and girl honey you shouldn’t have said anything this is Riverdale. So of course a old band mate comes up to Josie and Sierra and tells them that her dad was messed up in some bad things including voodoo and that he believes Josie’s dad was actually murdered. So Josie decided that her first stop on the tour is going to be New Orleans. Personally I think this would be a perfect opportunity for a spinoff.
Tabitha, Veronica and Alexandra
The other storyline in this episode was centred around Tabitha and her endeavours to turn Pop’s into a franchise. At first she asks Veronica if she would be willing to invest but Veronica explains that it would be a bad idea because of the bad money schemes Chad has got her mixed up in. But then Alexandra Cabot shows up in Riverdale and it turns out she is one of the people that invested in one of Chad’s schemes and now she wants to withdraw her money which isn’t a good thing for Veronica. So she tells Alexandra about Pop’s and encourages her to invest in that. I do have one complaint about this plot point though and that is I wish they didn’t have the part where Alexandra has come back to withdraw her money and instead just had Veronica call Xandra up and tell her about Pop’s as a way of helping Tabitha out. As it was it seemed more like Veronica was more helping Tabitha because it was getting her out of a sticky situation than because she legitimately wanted to help Tabitha. For me just having Veronica call up a potential contact/ investor just because she wanted to be a good friend would have given that women supporting women moment more impact. I mean I do kind of understand why they did it the way they did, it was to remind the audience of that plot so that when it comes up in the next episode there is some consistency there. Also it was still good of Veronica to help Tabitha out I am just a little wary because from what I remember from Katy Keene Xandra was a bit of a shady one so I am really hoping that going into business with her doesn’t cause problems for Tabitha down the line. I really enjoyed the performance of Little Shop of Horrors but what I loved even more was when Xandra suggested changing the recipe for the milkshakes Tabitha stood up to her and explained the history behind Pop’s and how its wasn’t just a milkshake or just a diner it was a legacy. Also this is kind of irrelevant but I really liked Tabitha’s lavender suit. So now Tabitha is going into business with Xandra who after being inspired by Josie’s speech has agreed to not change the recipe. I do wonder if that means she is going to be on the show more often now or whether it’ll just be a background type thing with phone calls between them. I am also wondering what Veronica’s involvement in it all is. Is she just going to be redirecting the money Xandra put into Chad’s scheme into Pop’s so that Xandra doesn’t find out that Chad’s scheme was a bad one and tell the other investors so they don’t pull out too before Veronica can fix the situation? Finances and businesses are not something I really understand. Still I did like having that representation of three strong independent business women. I just really hope this deal doesn’t go wrong somehow.
Toni and Baby Anthony
Toni’s back! I also love that the way they introduced her again was just to have her pop up from behind a counter during a musical number. In this episode Toni is about ready to pop. I enjoyed those moments when she was hoping to induce her labour like when she was dancing. In the end she goes into labour during the Pussycat’s concert interrupting the performance. Still like they said better to be upstaged by a new baby than a dead body. I am still a bit unsure as to what the family situation is going to be and whether Kevin is still going to be involved. I mean Fangs was in the room with Toni and was often seen standing next to her like at the end when they came to introduce the baby to everyone. But then Kevin was pacing outside the room like an anxious father to be and when Josie commented about how gorgeous the baby was she congratulates all three of them, so she does include Kevin in it. I mean just because Kangs broke up doesn’t mean the three of them can’t still co-parent. I also loved that Cheryl jumped in to help deliver the baby even if that delivery did happen in true Riverdale fashion and take place in the back of a diner. She also looked genuinely happy for them too. It was also super cute that they named the baby Anthony after Toni’s grandfather.
Little Moments
There were some little ship moments in the episode, obviously Cheryl helping Toni deliver her baby and also she looked a little sad when Toni was introducing the baby at the end which I think indicated that she was regretful about how things ended up between her and Toni. Also when Josie congratulates them Fangs does look over to Kevin so I think he too is happy but also a little sad about how things didn’t really turn out exactly how they planned it. There was also a glance between Barchie and another glance between Jughead and Tabitha. But I am glad that whilst there were little moments there wasn’t anything that would detract from the Pussycats as this was their episode. There were little crumbs just to plant seeds for the next episode but the main focus of the episode was never overshadowed.
Overall I do think this was a great episode that really celebrated the POC on the show and the pussycats in particular. I just really hope that this continues into the rest of the episodes going forward and characters like Tabitha and Toni do still get the attention they deserve. So far this season they have done a decent job of giving them screen time and keeping them involved with the plot. The same with the other side characters that were often neglected like Kevin and Fangs and Reggie. I would also love a Pussycats spin off so fingers crossed for that. Anyway that’s it for now so until the next episode.

Perrie’s Dating History
❈Dating Overview ❈  ― Perrie never really had a hard time admitting she could have feelings for both genders. Luckily, she came from a very accepting home, so she never really felt nervous about telling them. Growing up, she had crushes on both men and women but she never drew any attention towards gender and she realized that she would be open to date anyone regardless of what they identify as. However, being in a relationship is very complicated for her because she knows she can be a lot to handle and not everyone will be comfortable with the way she acts - which she completely understands. So, she is usually very scared to get in relationships because she hates getting close to someone and then them leaving because her personality was too much or to hard to understand.

Tumblr media
Duration: May 2017 - April 2018
Reason for break up: Perrie had to go home for personal reasons, so she broke up with Jin Ae because a relationship was too much for her.
Current Status: They’re supportive of each other and would still consider one another friends.
Song about relationship: Can We Just Be Happy Now by Jake Scott and Josie Dunne
Kim Jin Ae was born December 5, 1998 and she was under SM as a model trainee. The two of them met a few times when Perrie was a trainee and they kept in contact. As the years went by the developed a close friendship. In 2017, Perrie was having a really hard time and Jin Ae was the one she would lean on because she did not want to worry her members - or make them more worried than they already were. As a result, the two ended up admitting their feelings for one another.
Their relationship was a prime example of puppy love or first loves. Neither of them ever dated anyone so everything was a learning curve. For Perrie, she had a hard time at the beginning of the relationship because of her BPD, it caused a lot of inner and outer turmoil, that wasn’t exactly healthy. However, Perrie did not realize that until years later. Jin Ae knew Perrie had a personality disorder and that not everything she did was on purpose so she tried to remind herself that in order to lessen whenever Perrie hurt her feelings accidently.
Perrie kept this relationship a secret - even from the members - not because she was embarrassed, but because she felt much more comfortable with knowing that the relationship was just between the two of them. However, her members found out through the Dreamies who found out secretly which also ended up with Perrie getting upset and disappointed at them for a while.
Overall, despite the few problems, they both would say that they don’t regret the relationship. They acted the way they both believe people in love would act. After they met up after their breakup and Perrie came back to SM, they thought about trying it again, but Perrie soon realized that a relationship would not be good for her during that time.

Duration: April 2019 - February 2020
Reason for break up: The relationship wasn’t the best. It wasn’t exactly toxic but the both of them were too different and wanted different things inside the relationship.
Current Status: Supportive but awkward. There are no negative feelings because both recognize they made mistakes.
Song of the relationship: Arms around you by Jamie Grey
Perrie met Changkyun in early 2019 because she actually took part in his Horizon mixtape. While preparing, the two spent quite some time together and they both really enjoyed being around each other. It was a few months later that Changkyun asked her out. Perrie was hesitant at first because she was nervous that he would leave after they got closer together. It wasn’t until she talked to some of her members, who convinced her to go on at least one date and see.
The first few months of the relationship were very easy. After the first few dates and after confirming that they are in a relationship, they both got really busy. Therefore, Perrie could hide her more negative traits of when her BPD was acting up more than usual. However, since they were getting more comfortable with one another, they unintentionally did things that hurt the other.
Changkyun was someone who liked his alone time and liked the push-and-pull game. While the rational part of Perrie could understand him needing his own time, the other part of her got insecure and scared. The whole push-and-pull game he did, while he truly meant no harm, made it worse for Perrie. However, Perrie also caused some problems, she wasn’t as open with him and tended to get very sharp and unintentionally say some things rude when he pushed a bit to far. This all led up to a very big fight where both said some insensitive words. They managed to get over it, but the fight was lingering in both of their minds.
The following few months they dated, it went from being very sweet and cute to a lot of tensions and toxicity. Perrie ended up feeling stressed whenever they got together and couldn’t wait until she got home. There were many nights where she was second guessing herself and crying. The two did not exactly get together to call it off, the both just knew that this was not a good relationship. There was still tension but they ended up getting past it when he called her when he learned she was in the hospital. He still cared a lot about her and worried about her so he felt like he needed to call. This call smoothened a lot of things out for them and eased any negative feelings they might have harbored.
In this relationship, Perrie learned a lot, she got hurt a lot, there was a lot of drama and damage, but despite all this it taught her a lot. She learned what she needed in a relationship and what she needed to work on. She knew she had stuff she needed to work on and this relationship pointed it out. Overall, it taught her lessons about love and made her stronger for the future.

Josephine’s office on Midtown Manhattan had a great view of New York’s skyline, and it was beautiful during the afternoon when the sky was orange, almost like a golden glow covered the whole city. (Y/N)’s small office could barely fit two people at the same time, but it had the most incredible view of Central Park, glowing with the afternoon sun. Sometimes she would just pop up in her mother’s office to close her door, prepare some coffee, put on some soft music and sit there watching the park. When she had work to do, it wasn’t so bad with one of those views.
Fashion work was hard. (Y/N) would watch people go crazy every time they had a big event coming and this time it was Vogue’s cover and big interview with her mother’s brand. People were freaking out to put up with some looks, trying to contact models and makeup artists. Josephine even had her daughter back in the office to help her with reaching people and even sewing last-minute outfits. And right now she was leaning back on her chair, legs resting over the table as she sipped her coffee and tried to contact models for work.
“Everything is a disaster.” Josephine said as she came into her office, slamming the door behind her. “I just need a second of quietness.”
“Do you want some coffee? Maybe tea?”
“Chamomile, please.” Her mother breathed out, and she laughed, getting up to her small coffee station on the back of her office to prepare some tea for her mother. “Your outfit looks cute.”
“Thanks.” (Y/N) glanced down to her body and chuckled. Today she went for yellow plaid high waisted pants, a simple black shirt and heels. Josie always taught her how to dress up fancy but straightforward during office times. She approached her mother, who was now sitting on her chair, and gave her some tea.
“Thank you, sweetie. I just can’t be out there any longer. They’re driving me insane.”
For the past week, Josie was too busy to pick on everything her daughter was doing. That’s why their relationship wasn’t conflictual for the past days. She even came home for dinner more than one time, and maybe she was too tired of work to go to a restaurant and talk even more about fashion with some coworker or fashion journalist.
“I got Taylor Hill and Bella Hadid to model for us.”
“I got Naomi Campbell for cover.” She said, and (Y/N)’s eyes widened.
“Oh my God, are you serious?”
“And then she cancelled.” (Y/N) rolled her eyes and leaned back at her desk, watching her mother dramatically drink her tea. “We have a week to find someone else to cover the spot.”
“Go with Bella Hadid.” She suggested, and Josie groaned.
“If I get Bella for cover, I have to find another model to cover her spot.” She finished her tea and glanced up to her daughter. It was like something clicked on her head. (Y/N) frowned as she watched her mother get up her seat and smirk.
“What are you thinking?”
“You could model for me.” Josie said as she pointed her index finger to her daughter, and (Y/N) chuckled.
“Are you serious?”
“Dead serious. You look gorgeous wearing the collection.” Josie unlocked her phone and showed her a picture where she was wearing one of Josie’s designs. “So, what do you think?”
“Are you kidding me? Of course I want to do this. Vogue fucking Magazine.”
“Good, so I’ll need you here Friday after class so we can take pictures. Come without makeup and something simple to take off.”
“I’ll be here.”
Even though she said she wouldn’t involve herself with the fashion world, (Y/N) has been reading Vogue ever since she was a little girl. She always imagined herself as one of the girls looking all pretty and displaying beautiful clothes for the public. Now she has the opportunity to do it, and she wouldn’t let it go to waste. When she told Tom, he got very happy for her.
“It’s good to see you happy for the first time since I met you.” Tom said, and she jumped excitedly, making him chuckle.
“Vogue, let your body move to the music.” She sang as she danced awkwardly in excitement. She has catwalked to that song with her mother’s clothes for years, and now she could listen to it while modelling for the magazine she loved for years.
“Do you want me to drive you there?” Tom asked, and she shook her head.
“Mum will send me someone to pick me up, as always.”
Tom was happy to see her excited and getting along with her mother. The week that followed Noel’s party, she looked really down and she wanted more than anything to be alone. Tom didn’t let it happen though. He knew that she was upset about her father and now one of her friends was slut-shaming her for sleeping with Noel. As she said before, she permitted Stacie to be with Noel at that party but ended up with him instead, which resulted on Stacie screaming at her in front of the whole school and Courtney being quiet about the whole thing, deciding not to pick sides. The thing was that (Y/N) wasn’t upset about Stacie, only about the way she acted and exposed her, but she was upset with Courtney, because she meant a lot to her.
He tried to do everything to cheer her up after what happened, but it appeared that her home life was much better than before. Her father met her for dinner one night, her mother backed down and left her alone, even had dinner at home to be with her daughter. So all he did was be there for her. The day he headed back to the city with her was one of her lowest points, and he stood by her side the whole day, even went to brunch with her. Now he was glad that she had a big smile on her face.
When (Y/N) got to her mother’s office, makeup artists attacked her and started to produce her face. She didn’t even have the time to drink some water or do anything at all. It didn’t matter, because once they finished, she could see how gorgeous she looked. Soon she was wearing a mint green suit in front of a white background, waiting for the photographer, who seemed to be late.
“Where the fuck is he?” She whispered to herself as she rechecked her Instagram, meeting with the same pictures.
“Excuse me, I’m sorry I’m late.” A man said from behind her, probably the photographer. She turned around to meet the man she was going to spend the whole afternoon with, and her smile died when she saw who it was.
“Garold?”
“You can call me Gary, sweetheart.” She groaned and rolled her eyes as he smiled at her.
“You’re a photographer?”
“Yeah, I’ve been working for Vogue over a decade now.” Her eyes widened, and she ran out of the room, directly into her mother’s office. She was too busy writing something on a bunch of paper.
“You’re fucking kidding me, right? Garold, as my photographer?”
“I thought you might feel more comfortable with someone from the family.”
“Mom, for the thousandth time. Garold is not my family. He’s the guy you’re fucking with.” Josie rolled her eyes and stood up to sit in front of her daughter. “He’s not my dad, and you know that.”
“Just give him a chance. He’s a nice guy.”
“He literally flirted with me when I found him half-naked in our kitchen.” She groaned, a little disgusted to remember that situation. “Fuck this. I’m out of here. Call me when you get a new photographer.”
(...)
“Wow, that was really good.” Tom congratulated his father after he got his ball inside the hole on the floor, and he had a big smirk coming his son’s way. “I’m impressed.”
“Thank you, son. Better watch your back, because I’m coming for you.” Dom winked, and Tom chuckled.
His family finally found a good golf club in New York and decided to have a day off to hang out together. Nikki and Paddy were being taught by Harry, messing up their moves every time, getting Harry angry and Sam laughing in the background. Tom, Harrison and Dom were playing by themselves until Harrison got tired and went back to sit with Sam and eat something. The only thing they were missing was the beer. Being an 18-year-old British guy in America was hard, but at least the chips were good.
“Mom, you’re doing great.” Tom shouted and received a death glare from Harry, and a big smile from Nikki.
“Thank you, love. Harry doesn’t think so.” Nikki looked back to her son, and he rolled his eyes.
“Let’s just take a break. I need to calm down.” Harry rubbed his face and made everyone laugh. He sat next to Sam and tapped the back of his head so he could stop laughing.
“Totally worth it.” Sam laughed, and now all the boys were gathered together to watch Dom helping Nikki and Paddy since Harry was too pissed to do so.
“Short temper.” Harrison mocked.
“Dickhead.” Harry replied, making Harrison shrug. “So, you never told us about your party on Long Island.”
“Well, we both got very drunk. Oh, and (Y/N) set us both with some girls.” Harrison started. “Yeah, I got luckier than Tom, I spent the whole day after with the girl back in her room. Only headed back to the city at the end of the afternoon.”
“What happened Tom?”
“Uhm, mine went away when we woke up, and I headed back to the city with (Y/N).” He took a sip of his coke and shrugged. “She was, uhm…” He cleared his throat. ”Not okay, so I spent the whole day with her at Central Park.”
“Yeah, you’re definitely going to date.” Sam said, and all the boys agreed.
“Shut up, can I continue?” Tom asked, and all the boys nodded. “I was upset too. She slept with that idiot just because she was feeling lonely. She could’ve come to me so we could talk, but she prefered to run into his arms.”
“Have you talked to her about it?” Sam asked, and Tom shook his head no. “You need to talk about it.”
“We have nothing to talk about. Plus, we’re good. And she seems happy.” The twin glanced at Harrison, and the boy shrugged.
“She seems cool.” He shoved some chips in his mouth. “(Y/N) is cool, you know? I think we’re getting closer and I really like her.”
And there it was - the smallest, single tingle of jealousy inside Tom’s chest. He never felt it before, so he frowned when these feelings surfaced and took a grip of his heart. He clenched his jaw and looked down to hide his face. Was he jealous that Harrison was getting closer to (Y/N)? It couldn’t be. Why would he be jealous anyway, it’s not like he’s in love with her. Maybe he’s just jealous because he finally found someone so dear and close to his heart, that the thought of sharing it with someone else was too much for him.
“Yeah, but she is Tom’s girl. Right?” Harrison finished, and the boys started teasing Tom again.
“For fuck’s sake…” Tom groaned and quickly shot up to get away from them. Also, he didn’t want them to see the small smile that formed on his lips.
He couldn’t help but wonder how things would be if she joined them for a golf day. Would she know how to play, or would he have to teach her?  Would she get along with his mother? Would she be so close to Harrison that it made his heart strangely tingle again? There were so many possibilities of what could have happened, but over everything, he wishes she was here. But he knew that she was very happy wherever she was right now because it was something she dreamed for a very long time.
It was strange because he never thought about any of those things before. He doesn’t stick around girls long enough to even feel anything. So why he was holding on to her like that and why the hell he couldn’t wait to see her again? Was it love? Tom wouldn’t know. The only kind of love he ever felt was towards his family and friends. But the romantic kind of love, he never even slightly felt it. No, that couldn’t be it - he thought, still not trusting his own words.
And just like magic, his phone rang. It was like his mind called for her and she only made the dial. ‘Maybe we’re more connected than I thought’. He walked away from his family to answer the phone privately. Why the hell was she calling him when she was supposed to be busy with the photo shoot?
“Hello?” Tom asked when he answered, and she sighed in relief.
“Tom. Thank God!” Her voice echoed through the phone.
“Are you okay?” He asked. Her breathing changed again like she was infuriated.
“I fucking hate my mother.” She admitted.
“Don’t say that.”
“Anyway, I’m at my apartment, packing to leave for my dad’s. But I was wondering if we could meet later; I need a drink.”
“Sure, you wanna go to Vertigo’s?” He asked and she groaned.
“I don’t wanna leave the apartment. Just come over, my dad will be out. And bring Harrison.” Why did he need to bring Harrison? Did you actually want to see Haz, using him only as an excuse to bring his best friend over? Would he be the third wheel? “I need as many people as possible to distract me. But I’m pissed at Courtney, so he will do.”
“Oh, okay.” A small smile crept on his lips, and he made sure it was unnoticed by anyone else. “I’ll be there. Text me the address.”
“Okay, bye.”
“Bye.”
(...)
(Y/N) waited for her father in the lobby as she frenetically tapped her fingernails on her suitcase, ignoring the stares as people passed through her. After all, people on her building were very curious, especially about her family. She prayed that her dad would get there before her mother, so when she saw him coming through the front door, she sighed in relief.
“Sweetheart. You called me?”
“Dad. Oh, thank God.” (Y/N) rushed to his embrace, and he hugged her very tightly. “Mom’s crazy.”
“Oh, I know that.” He chuckled. She leaned back and he pressed a kiss on her forehead. “Let me take you home and you can tell me everything about it. Okay?”
“Yeah, let’s go.”
(Y/N) told everything to her dad on their way home. She told him how loud her mother was on the first night she brought her new boyfriend home, how she was constantly pushing that strange man into her life and the boundaries they didn’t respect, like Garold standing half-naked on their kitchen. She finished with what happened earlier that day by the time they arrived at his building.
“Your mother makes me laugh until this very day.” He chuckled, making his daughter roll her eyes. “She’s really crazy. I’ll talk to her about it, tell her to back off.”
“I don’t think she’ll listen.” She admitted defeat and threw herself on the couch. “I’m just…” She sighed. “Tired of her bullshit. I don’t think she even cares about how I feel.”
“(Y/N/N), you know that’s not true.” He sat next to her, pulling her into a side hug, rubbing his hand on her arm. Vincent’s hugs always made her calm and feeling like she’s home. “You don’t remember that because you were too little, but I worked a lot, even more than I do now. Your mother was the one who was always home, even dropped work for a while, to take care of our little girl.”
“I thought she never wanted me. At least that’s what she says to me.”
“At first, she really did it because I wanted kids. But Josie couldn’t let go of her little girl. She loved you more than anything else and you were so precious. The first time you got sick, we had to take you to the hospital, she cried the whole time we were there and I needed to comfort her to stop crying. That night, you slept in her arms and she stayed up, holding you.”
“It’s hard to believe.” She chuckled, leaning back in her seat. She rubbed her eyes and sighed. “I wonder what happened to Josephine (Y/L/N).”
“Well, she stopped being Josie Rhodes to become Josephine (Y/L/N). The spotlight, runaway and fashionista Josephine.” She nodded and cuddle into her dad.
“I just wish we could get along.”
“Me too, sweetie.” He pressed a kiss on her temple. “But your mother is trying. I know our divorce was tough for her because I went through the same thing. We loved each other very much when we were teenagers, we still do. But we grew apart with time and unfortunately, things end; things change. Doesn’t mean there’s no love involved. She loves you very much, I promise you.”
“I just wish she could act like a real mother sometimes. And I miss our family.”
“I know you do, sweetie. But you have to be strong.” She nodded. “Things will never get back to what they used to be. I found someone who makes me feel loved again, doesn’t your mother deserve that?”
“I just don’t see honesty in Garold. He looks like he’s taking advantage of her. I think that’s why I don’t like him. I just wanna protect what’s left of our family.”
“Just give him a chance. Maybe he turns to be a decent guy. And if you still don’t feel comfortable with him around, you can always come to me.”
“You’re never home, dad.” She glanced down to the rings on her fingers and sighed as she played with them. Vincent’s heart crumbled and he pressed her even tighter against him.
“I know, and I’m so sorry. I can try to stay here more often, but work is hard.” She nodded. “Hey, you know what might cheer you up? Hot cocoa and helping me find an outfit for my date.”
“Yeah, you know how to cheer me up. I love you, daddy.”
“I love you too, sweetie.”
(...)
Later that day, Tom headed to (Y/N)’s dad apartment in Tribeca, humming to a song on the radio with Harrison. They had a long day at the golfing club, went home to shower and were now driving to meet the girl who called earlier for them. Tom spent the whole day thinking about her because she seemed angry and upset. But them again, when wasn’t she like that? It was tiring him, but he cared too much about her, so here he was, rushing to her apartment.
Also, he was still wondering what was that tingle on his gut when Harrison started to talk about his friendship with her. And the fact that she also wanted to see Haz tonight, instead of him alone. But Tom would be a fucking great actor because no one even noticed him distance during the rest of the day. Although, there was a moment he was pretty sure his mom knew, considering she came to hug him out of nowhere. It eased him though; she always knew how to ease him.
(Y/N) said they didn’t need to dress up when she texted to tell them the address. Harrison decided to go with joggers and a t-shirt, pretty basic. And Tom got the first sweats he saw on his closet but remembered to apply perfume - just because she said he always smelled nice when he was wearing that perfume - and rushed to get out of that apartment.
When she opened the door, the boys have never seen her so… raw. No makeup, hair tied up, barefoot and wearing a pajama with little avocados on the bottom, and a shirt that said: “Let’s avo-cuddle”. Tom found it adorable and a genuine smile crept on his lips. She was holding her phone between her shoulders and ear, a glass of whiskey on her hands. She signed the boys to follow her inside while she wasn’t finished.
“Sorry, boys. I was ordering pizza. Just make yourself comfortable.” She signed the couch and went to the kitchen.
Vincent’s apartment was pretty impressive and well decorated, with big windows and a great view of Manhattan’s skyline. Maybe too big for a single man who only had his daughter over once in a while. It wasn’t bigger than his old apartment from back when he was married, but it was big enough for the number of people that lived there. The boys sat and (Y/N) sat between them, handing both glasses of whiskey.
“I’m driving darling. Sorry.” Tom said and she nodded, pouring the liquid into her glass. “Wow, don’t you think that’s too much?”
“Don’t care.” She gulped her drink down. “I had a horrible day…”
She filled them in with all the details, starting with Garold, and ending up with her father’s confession. For Tom, it was just the two of them there, like he was the only one supposed to know what was happened. Reality crashed whenever Harrison spoke up, but he would ease every time her drunk hands rested on his legs. He wanted her to just rest her head on his chest and - No, stop it! Keep it together, Tom.
“To be honest, I don’t know why you’re so mad. He’s a photographer, so what?” Harrison started once she finished. “I know you don’t like him, but don’t let this opportunity go because of him. Being in Vogue is everyone’s dream, even mine.”
“Really? I didn’t know that.” He smirked as he nodded.
“I always wanted to be a model, appear in a big magazine.” He shrugged. “Just don’t waste your turn, darling.”
“Do you wanna do it with me? I’ll tell my mom I’ll only do it with you.” And there it was again, the tingle on Tom’s gut, the clench on his jaw.
“Are you serious?” Harrison’s eyes lighted up, making him sit on the edge of the couch.
“Yeah, of course! We can do it together, it will be fun.” She sounded excited, which only made Tom want to groan.
“Okay. I’ll not complain about it.” He shrugged. They kept talking about it and Tom just remained silent, trying to calm down and understand what was happening to him. They only ended the talk when the pizza arrived. “I’ll go get it. My treat.”
“Sure you don’t need help?”
“I got it, darling.” He said before slamming the door closed.
(Y/N) turned to Tom and smirked. He spaced out and wasn’t paying attention to their conversation by now. She giggled and pulled him into a side hug, pressing a big kiss on his cheek, which only made him smile. He melted into her again, like he always did. She had him on the palm of her hand, and she knew how to make him cave.
“You’ve been strangely quiet today.” She said, and he shrugged. “What’s up with you?”
“I’m just tired, that’s all.” She smiled softly, leaning back to show him her shirt.
“Can you read it out loud for me?” She pointed out the shirt, and he giggled.
“Let’s avo-cuddle.” He said, making her hug his middle in seconds.
“I thought you’d never ask.” She rested her head on his chest, and there it was, what he wanted to happen all night. Just the two of them, together, silently. He learned to enjoy that ever since she slept on his embrace during their trip back to Manhattan. Sometimes he would think about her snoring on his chest to help him fall asleep. A different tingle appeared for him, like billions of little butterflies flying on his stomach, which only made him smile wider. As an instinct, he pressed a kiss on top of her head, making her shift and bury her head on the crook of his neck. “Feeling better?”
“Much better.” She looked up to him and smiled. She got what she wanted; to make him happy. And he looked so damn cute with a grin on his face. She could stare at it for the rest of her life and never get tired of it.
Only when Harrison came back, she let go of him so they could eat and watch a movie together. But Tom didn’t feel the strange tingle on his guts. (Y/N) sat far away from Harrison, closer to Tom, and eventually, she’d brush her feet on his. The only thing the could feel was the billions of butterflies. He didn’t know what they meant, but he was liking it.
By the end of the movie, Harrison was asleep on the couch. (Y/N) didn’t have the heart to wake him up and just covered him with a blanket and lowered the lights. Tom cleaned their mess and started to wash the dishes for her, trying not to care about how nicely she was treating Harrison right now. But when she came to him in the kitchen and tiredly smiled at him, he forgot everything.
“Thank you for helping out. It really meant a lot to me that you were here to distract me.”
“Whenever you want, darling.”
“Do you think I’m overreacting with this situation?” She asked as she started to dry the dishes and put them away.
“A little, but it’s okay.” He shrugged. “You should give Garold a chance. I know he doesn’t look good, but your mother is a grown woman and knows what she’s doing. You need to stop getting those small things in your way of happiness.”
“Tom, to be honest, you’re the only thing that brings me joy now.”
“Don’t say that…” He shook his head.
“But you are!”
“I shouldn’t be, (Y/N).” He stopped washing the dishes and sighed. “I’m really glad that I can bring you joy because you bring it to me too. But I can’t be your only source of happiness, and it makes me really upset when I see you upset.”
“I didn’t know you felt that way.”
“Well, I do. Now you know.” She pulled him into a tight hug, with her hands softly resting on his hair. It took him a couple of seconds to understand what was going on, but soon he melted into the hug, pulling her by the waist. “It’s getting late, (Y/N).”
“Stay.” She whispered in his ear.
“What?”
“Please, stay. I don’t want you gone yet.” He nodded and she pressed a kiss on his neck, making electricity curse through his whole body. “C’mere, I’ll show you my room.”
“What about Harrison?”
“He’s gonna be fine. My dad won’t be back home tonight and the couch is pretty comfortable. I don’t wanna wake him.”
He nodded and quickly texted his mom about staying over. She entwined their fingers and pulled him to the bedroom, which was surprisingly simple, but he imagined it would be since she doesn’t spend much time there. She prepared the bed and lied under the covers. Tom stood there, waiting for her to invite him.
“Why are you standing there? Come lie with me.”
“I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
“You won’t. Only if you are uncomfortable.”
“N-no, I’m okay.” He sat in bed next to her and removed his shoes. Once he lied down, she found her way between his arms. His stomach pressed on her back and nose so close to her ears. The only thing he could hear was her soothing breathing while she was falling asleep in his arms again. He wishes he could hear her heart, though. Was it beating just as fast as his did? He couldn’t believe they were about to sleep in the same bed, especially in the position they were found right now.
“Good night, Tommy.”
“Good night, (Y/N).”
(...)
“Let me recap this. You’ll only do it if it’s with him?” Josephine pointed Harrison, who was standing next to Tom, right behind her.
(Y/N) knew her mother was desperate for new models. Ever since she gave up on the photoshoot, Josie had to spend full time at the office looking for new replacements and it’s been really hard for her to find last minute models to fill the blank. So it was the perfect opportunity to make her mother give in to her propose. That’s why they marched to her office to confront her after lunch on Saturday.
Tom had to say, he was fucking terrified of meeting her mother for the first time. He wanted her to like him, because his daughter was important to him, so it was a big deal. The night before that was amazing, especially the part after Harrison went to sleep and she involved him with her arms so they could sleep together. He spent the minutes before he fell asleep thinking how much he appreciated that single moment - and the girl holding him.
“Yes, mother. Take it or leave it.”
Josie stood up and marched her way to Harrison, who gulped loudly and started to shake, too nervous to have such an important person to the fashion world judging him. Whatever she would say next would define if he had even the slightest chance in the fashion world. With her glasses on the tip of her nose, she took a closer look at Harrison.
“You’re cute. Your eyes are pretty and we can actually work out with that.” She fixed her glasses and looked behind him. “Marcus, get him to make up and tell the dressing department to put him in the stripped leather jacket.” Her assistant nodded and (Y/N) encouraged Haz to follow the guy with a nod.
Josie watched him go away and glanced at Tom, who was quiet and wanting to throw up, only standing there to support his best friends. When her eyes fixated on him, he could just explode right there. Yeah, she’s judging me.
“And who are you?”
“I’m T-Tom. Tom Holland.” He replied, too nervous not to stutter.
“He’s my best friend, mom.” (Y/N) said and Josie nodded.
“And what are you doing here? Go get dressed, (Y/N/N)!” Josie said and her daughter nodded, disappearing through the door in the blink of an eye. Now he was alone with her mother. Great. “So, you’re my daughter’s best friend. You’re new in St. Jude?”
“Yes, ma’am. I just moved here from London and got an exchange scholarship.”
“Oh really?” She nodded, sitting back at her desk. “And you’re planning on using this opportunity to get into an Ivy League school, right? Or are you thinking about Cambridge and Oxford?”
“Actually, I want to be an actor. So I was thinking NYU or UCLA.” He said and her mouth fell agape.
“So, you think you can be friends with my daughter if you’re not planning to make something out of your life?”
“Excuse me?” Tom frowned, and Josie shrugged.
“I didn’t like your face from the moment you walked through that door. But I’m getting along with my daughter again, so I won’t say anything about it. Just be sure that I don’t approve your friendship.”
“I’m sorry, but are you only saying that because I don’t want to go to an Ivy League school and become a lawyer or something?”
“I’m only saying that because I don’t like your face.” She smiled, cynically. Tom rolled his eyes and shrugged.
“I can’t do anything about that. But I assure you that I’m a good person and I’ll always do whatever I can to make your daughter happy. I hope you realise that someday.” That was the last thing he said before waving goodbye and walking away from the office. “Fucking bitch.” He hissed. No wonder (Y/N) was getting into messed up fights with her mother.
He wanted to tell her everything, but when she walked out of the dressing room with a turtle neck red blouse, a leather jacket and light washed jeans, he got lost in his own words. She looked beautiful, even with that weird star make up they did on her. He blushed when she noticed him mesmerized by her.
“So, how do I look?”
“Flawless.” He replied, making her smile.
“Where’s Harrison?”
“I’m right here, darling.” Harrison was wearing almost the same outfit. The stripes on his leather jacket were the same colour as her makeup, her jeans were dark washed and he was wearing a simple white t-shirt. They looked like a couple matching outfits. Fucking great.
“Well, someone looks hot.” She winked at Harrison, making him chuckle.
“You think so?” He opened his jacket and turned around so they could have a full look. “I do look hot.”
“Come on, let’s kick some ass.”
(Y/N) went a few steps ahead and Harrison stood behind to talk to Tom for a little. His best friends said all the horrible things Josie said to him, making Haz curse the woman more than once. Tom asked him not to tell (Y/N) though, he didn’t want to ruin this opportunity again, which Harrison agreed. When they followed her into the studio, they found (Y/N) having a conversation with Garold.
“I know I was childish and selfish when I ran out of the studio that day. I’m gonna give you one chance Garold, that doesn’t mean you can cross the boundaries. So no naked walking around the apartment and try keeping it low in bed. Okay?” He gave her a nod. “I’m doing this for my mother, not because of you.”
“I know. Thank you, though.” He said and she nodded, getting into position for the photo shoot.
“Come on, Harrison. I’m gonna start without you.” She said as she fixed her hair for the camera. Harrison chuckled and joined her in front of the camera.
Tom sat in the back and watched his best mate take pictures with the girl. They seemed to be having a lot of fun and they had quite a way to modelling. They knew good positions and how to interact with the camera, and with each other. Tom couldn’t help but feel the tingles again. He didn’t want to feel it, he fought not to feel it, but they were there. When Harrison pulled her closer by the waist and she rested her head on the crook of his neck, he almost snapped.
This is stupid, he’s your best friend for fuck sake - Tom thought, and he wanted to cry for feeling that way. He shouldn’t feel it, there was nothing wrong going on. He was the one acting off and he needed to calm himself down. Luckily, someone served him some champagne and he had a couple of glasses, which did not help him. The only thing that helped was having the two models done with their photoshoot, after many changes of clothes and compromising pictures.
“And… we’re done.” Garold finished and (Y/N) groaned.
“Thank God! The heels are killing me.” She sat next to Tom and ripped them off in seconds. She was wearing the prettiest pink outfit, Tom’s favourite so far, which made him not want to tear his eyes away from her even for a second. Her heels were so big that her feet were screaming for freedom.  “Uhm… I’m starving.”
“We can go get something to eat.”
“I was thinking Vertigo. They have burgers and booze.”
“Perfect.” He smiled and helped her get up to go change. She got back into her regular clothes and was waiting for Harrison to come back so they could all leave together when her mother called her from the end of the hall.
“Yes?” (Y/N) replied.
“I’ll see you back in the apartment tonight?” Josie asked, hope filling her chest.
“Tomorrow, I promise.” (Y/N) softly smiled at her, making Josie nod.
“We could have dinner together.”
“Can Tom come along?” (Y/N) asked, making both Josie and Tom stiffen. She still didn’t know what her mother thought about him. They shared looks and Tom silently waited for her response, which she only took a deep breath and forcedly smiled.
“Of course.” Josie practically vomited the words against her will. Tom was surprised but nodded in agreement. Maybe she was just trying to get along with her daughter.
“Thank you.” (Y/N) replied before pulling Tom to join Harrison at the lift. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
(...)
Harrison and Tom laughed at (Y/N)’s expression as she tried a Long Island Iced Tea for the first time. It was such a strong drink they all agreed to order and see if they liked it. The mixture of alcohol could be good or horrible for the one drinking it. Harrison liked it, Tom declined after two sips, but (Y/N) was having a hard time recovering from the small sip she took, her throat burning like hell.
“Yeah, fuck it!” She cursed. “Oliver, please bring me white wine. I’m done with this strong shit.”
“Weak.” Harrison mocked.
“You can finish it.” She passed it on to him, which he accepted.
“I’m gonna talk to the pretty girl over the bar. Don’t wait up.” Harrison winked and they waved him goodbye.
Tom was strangely quiet after the photoshoot, still thinking about her mother and what she said to him. Also, her proximity with Harrison was getting the best of him. He still hasn’t figured out why he was feeling that way, and it was wrong. (Y/N) noticed he was slightly off and nudged his shoulder before hugging his side. She gave him a sweet kiss on the cheek, which made him sincerely smile at the gesture, turning to kiss hers too.
“You’re very quiet. Something wrong?”
“Uhm, no… I’m just moody, I guess.”
“I know what can cheer you up.” She said and pulled his phone from over the table. “Let’s find you a pretty girl.”
“(Y/N)...”
“Shut up, I’m working.” She giggled as she went through his Instagram DMs. “Oh my God, I can’t believe you’re talking to Valentina Gonzales. We used to have play dates when our parents were close. She’s really pretty.”
“She’s not that into me, I guess.” Tom shrugged, and she chuckled.
“Liar. She even sent you sexy pictures.” She showed him some lingerie photos she sent him, making him laugh.
“Okay. Do your magic.”
She started to go through his DMs, talking to Valentina with her unique way to get people set up. As Tom glanced at her, he could only think that nothing else mattered. What her mother said, her proximity with Harrison, the fact that she’s setting him up with some random girl. The only thing that mattered was her, and she looked perfect under that light - or any light at all- and Tom couldn’t help but smile.
That week he discovered two feelings he had never felt before, not even once in his life. The first was jealousy, and he definitely didn’t enjoy what it felt like, but he couldn’t help it. The second one, well… He was still trying to figure out what it meant, maybe it was adoration or something similar. But one thing was sure, he only felt it when she was with him; like right now, when she leaned over to play with his fingers. Or the previous night when her soft hands held him to sleep. And this morning when she had a whole breakfast prepared for him. He wasn’t sure what it is, but he definitely likes it.
Fuck, what is happening to me?

**********************************************************
New Orleans, 2:45 AM
Klaus' elbows rested on the lengthy solid wood dining table as his interlocked fingers covered his trembling mouth and flared nostrils—eyes practically burning a hole through Lizzie's forehead who was sitting across the other side. Carefully watching as she ate the grilled cheese sandwich he prepared for her—raising children forced him to learn his way around the kitchen. After Klaus paid the cab driver and compelled him to forget arriving here and picking anyone up in the last two hours, he was too enraged to speak to Lizzie when she eventually brought her luggage inside. Figured making her a meal would ease his mind and rationalize his thoughts—it did not.
As she settled in Klaus called Alaric to inform him about Lizzie's whereabouts—of course Caroline was his first option but he was still feeling petty. The insufferable human speaking over him was irritating, especially when realizing they contacted each other just a few seconds apart. Josie and Hope were both heavily interrogated by Caroline and Alaric. Hope was clueless but eventually they were able to pull the truth out of Josie. The news broke Klaus' heart all over again, but he reassured Alaric that Lizzie was safe in New Orleans and would call back after talking with her first.
Her bites were small, awkwardly shifting her attention down at the plate and up at the man with dagger eyes. One cheek resembled a chipmunk's as she prolonged each chew in the hopes that Klaus would be the first to break the dead silence—no such luck. She knew Klaus was pissed, which was unusual towards her because he had never genuinely been upset with her in the past.
She gulped the food down her throat with a dramatic swallow before placing the remainder of the sandwich on the porcelain plate. Using the napkin on her lap to rid her mouth of crumbs, subtly clearing her throat.
"Um, thanks for the food by the way. I was starving." Lizzie extended her gratitude with a soft smile that fell when Klaus did not reciprocate.
The silent treatment was growing tiresome, along with Lizzie's patience.
"Did you call my mom?"
His stomach clenched at the reference, but he finally spoke. "I called your father, actually, at the exact same time he called me."
"Are you two wonder twins or something?" She half joked, but Klaus obviously was not amused causing her to clear her throat. "So this means they already knew I was here. Well Josie certainly knows how to keep a secret huh." She rolled her eyes.
"You're lucky she said something." Klaus blurted. "Everyone was worried about you, I was worried about you."
"And like I already told you, I'm fine. I made it here unharmed didn't I? You don't have to keep treating me like a child—"
"You are a child, Lizzie." Klaus' tone low and dark—dropping his hands onto the table but eyes of fury never leaving hers. "You're a beautiful and naive 17 year old girl who has lived in the bubble of a small town her whole life, and despite thinking you know everything about the dangers of the world, you don't."
"Klaus—"
"Anything could have happened to you, anything, do you understand?" His glare deepened.
She groaned while rolling her eyes. "Yes, yes I get that but—"
"There are no 'buts'!" He slammed his hand on table, frightening the teenage girl. "And obviously you don't get it otherwise you wouldn't have done something so...so selfish and irresponsible! How many times do I have to explain to you girls, just because you're a powerful witch in Mystic Falls does not make you invincible to the real world. Evil comes in all shapes and forms, you have no idea what to look for. People in this city know who you are and how important you are to me. Why do you think I'm so protective over you all whenever you visit? What if someone recognized you wandering this hectic city alone at this hour, with some vendetta thinking they have something to prove by..."
He wiped his hand over his face exasperatedly, inhaling and exhaling as he regrouped, hating when his mind wandered to the darkest of places. Since Caroline became a permanent part of his life Klaus not a day went by he wasn't terrified for her safety, even more with the twins. The nightmares he never told her about of his deepest fears. He's had to protect Hope her entire life from the dark forces insistent on taking her away from him, now his family was expanding and felt helpless to stop life from happening to them. They inherited a thousand years worth of enemies and he couldn't be there for all of them at once. Seeing Lizzie, alone, on his doorsteps was among the most haunting images he's ever seen.
The witch rubbed her lips together, blinking away the sheen covering her blue eyes for a better visual of his disgruntled expression. Klaus wasn't simply upset, he was scared—clear as day on his face. Klaus has always been overprotective since they were kids and barely knew each other. Sometimes he was extreme: like not allowing her and Sebastian to go on unsupervised dates, or her having to text him her every move if she went on a trip without him, or one of his hybrids watching over at her football games when Klaus was unable to attend. It was behavior she grew accustomed to, fighting that is who he is. She underestimated how triggered he would be about her traveling on her own—expected some fleeting harsh words but his silence hurt more. Never did she mean to harm or scare him in any way.
Placing her hands out in front of her on the table, Lizzie picked at the fabric on the sleeves of her sweater.
"I'm sorry, okay. I never meant to freak you out. I just thought...I thought you'd be happy to see me." She said defeated.
Klaus' eyebrows furrowed, offended she would think otherwise. "Of course I'm happy to see you. I'm always happy to see you, Lizzie you know that. But you can't do reckless things like this and expect me not to, 'freak out', as you say." The tension slightly dissipating with his soft smirk. "I always worry, every bloody day about you girls when you're together, never even entertaining you all being apart. You mean...everything to me, do you understand?"
Lizzie understandably nodded as Klaus left his seat to walk over to her. Pulling out the chair beside her he sat down, with an expression ranging from relieved and anxious on his face. His hand reached out to hold hers on the table—giving them both much needed comfort.
"However, running away from home without warning is not an excuse. There are more pressing matters we need to discuss now that you're safe and well like, how did you acquire a plane ticket so last minute in the first place. How did you know I was here?"
The young witch swallowed audibly, squeezing his hand.
"Um, I sorta, well definitely, called Uncle Kol and told him I was running away and needed to see you. He didn't want to say anything at first but after much precision he finally told me you were in New Orleans and bought a ticket for me."
"HE WHAT?!" Klaus' eyes bulged and fist balled as he let her hand go.
As if the situation could not be worse—of course Klaus' delinquent of a baby brother was involved!
Lizzie winced, leaning back against her chair. "This is the reason I was holding off telling you..."
He pinched the bridge of his nose. "How dare he...and he knew I would never allow it. I am going to kill him, violently, and you be sure to tell him so during your next chat." He huffed. "Why were you running away anyways?"
"Same reason you did." She answered, making Klaus pause.
His glare and jaw softened as the realization settled in.
"You know..."
She nodded again, with shifty eyes and a blank face.
"And Josie?"
"Of course I told her. She's my sister. There's enough lies running around the boarding school and this effects both of us, remember?"
He knew, eventually, the twins would have to find out but didn't feel any better with them knowing before he had time to process it himself. How was he to console them about a matter he could barely grasp? The time away from Mystic Falls—from Caroline—did little to clear his mind because every second he thought about it the anger resurfaced.
Klaus let out a deep exhale scooting his chair closer to her and rubbing his hands together.
"Do you, um...do you want to talk about it?" He asked concerned.
She scoffed while crossing her arms. "About the fact that in a few years I'm either going to die or be forced to murder my sister, and my parents have been lying to me about it my whole life? Thanks but no thanks."
"We're going to have to talk about this eventually." He tried to reason with her but her refusal was as stubborn as a brick.
"Then I'll wait for eventually." She decided with a shrug.
"Lizzie—"
"I'm tired." She yawned covering her mouth. "It's been a long day and I can barely keep my eyes open so, can I just go to my room now please?"
- Say no, say no.
Klaus was such a weakling when it came to his daughters, specifically Lizzie. Her big blue eyes and pouty lip held so much innocence she reminded him of the little girl he once knew.
It has been a long night, for both of them. They could always talk in the morning when they're both refreshed and willing. Quite frankly Klaus wasn't too jazzed about discussing the matter further tonight either—as long as Lizzie knew it was something to discuss, soon.
Reluctantly, Klaus bit his tongue and conceded with an affirmative nod.
The young witch grinned, widely, jumping out her chair eagerly and picking up her plate.
"I'll dispose of it. Get some sleep." Klaus insisted with a weak smile.
She could see it on his face how badly this was eating at him, maybe more than her. But her mind and body were drained—from the devastating information of her fate to hitching a last minute solo trip to New Orleans. Last thing she wanted was more talking, even from Klaus—enough talking.
Placing the plate down, she muttered a low 'thank you' before walking towards the staircase and leaving Klaus alone with his conflicted thoughts.

9:10 AM
Breakfast in the Mikaelson manner was, awkward.
They all sat at the food-filled dining table together—Elijah and Hayley slowly sipped on coffee, Freya and Lizzie fawned over orange juice while Klaus nursed an alcoholic drink. Elijah discreetly tried to talk to talk to his brother about Lizzie's sudden arrival but Klaus didn't budge, nor did anyone outside of their immediate family need to know about this before they could tackle it themselves. Attempts at conversation were made in between fruit and pastry platters, but the trio were worried about stepping on anyone's toes which made everything more awkward. Klaus' irritability was written on his face, even for so early in the morning. The hybrid was running on two hours of sleep, barely capable of catching any slumber after Lizzie resides in her room for the night. He sat outside her door for about an hour before retreating downstairs to his study. He tried everything to keep his mind occupied: reading, sketching, brainstorming strategies for the next faction meeting but nothing worked.
Afraid if he closed his eyes he'd have another haunting nightmare; with Lizzie as the starring role.
Even reaching out to Caroline crossed his mind, once or twice. After finally turning his cellphone back on he played her voicemail over, and over again until it brought boredom—it never did. He missed her voice, the way she rambled when nervous and her smile that he could hear through the phone.
You give me comfort, and I could really use some of that right now.
So did he.
I miss you.
I'm sorry.
I need you.
He had to turn his phone off again just to fight the temptation. The tears already glossing his eyeballs as he contemplated throwing the bloody contraption in the lit fireplace. He hated feeling conflicted.
Despite how much he loved and missed her, nothing about the merge was simple nor fixable yet she kept it from him for years. Whatever her intentions Klaus was incapable of reasoning right now—not to mention the teenage runaway who sparked his blood just as much.
When his two siblings and Hayley finished their meals and left the mansion for an 'outing', he was left alone at the table with the stubborn teenager who appeared just as displeased.
"It's a bit early for bourbon, don't you think?" She sassed, flipping her blonde hair to the side while jamming her fork into a chocolate chip waffle.
Klaus knew those were her favorite.
"Let's just say, I've earned it." He raised a glass before downing the liquor in his throat then slamming it down on the table. "Are you enjoying breakfast?"
She nodded gleefully, pushing the empty fruit bowl away as the servant came around to dispose of dishes.
"You always have the best food, especially the waffles!" Lizzie praised before scarfing another piece into her mouth.
"I'm glad." He rewarded her with a soft grin, gesturing to the servant to scurry away until it was just him and his step-daughter. "Not to put a damper on a good morning but sweetheart, we really need to talk—"
"We should go into the Quarter today." Lizzie proposed.
His forehead creased and eyebrows pulled together at her blatant disregard for his request.
"What are you talking about?"
"Hayley...Auntie Hayley?" She raised a curious brow. "I'm still not really sure what I'm supposed to call her but, I overheard her talking about meetings you have coming up. I could totally audit some of them. I've been told I'm quite the stellar listener." She suggested, making Klaus more puzzled.
He sighed. "Lizzie—"
"Or," the smirking blonde witch rose from her chair, "we can ditch boring responsibilities and turn it into a fun day trip. Just me and you like old times. We can get some lunch at that Cajun restaurant you introduced me to on the last visit, before going to Jackson Square. I could really use a new painting for my room—"
"Lizzie stop." Klaus abruptly demanded, now standing at her level with an equally stern look.
The young girl's stretched smile deflated to a withdrawn frown. Her heart pounding cranky in her chest and her body went numb—unable to feel the over-pour of emotions hanging by a thread.
Cautiously, Klaus walked towards her and anxiously licking his reddened lips until he was across the room staring before her.
His loomed over her small figure intimidatingly, focusing his attention on her while hers was directed at their feet.
"I know you've been through quite a bit in the past 24 hours, more than anyone your age should endure." Klaus reasoned, reaching out to grab her shoulders comfortingly. "This is scary and surely you must have so many questions but we can't pretend this merge isn't real. We can't pretend it isn't happening because it is and we need to deal with how to move forward."
The girl laughed. "You mean like how my mom and dad 'dealt with it' by lying to me for the past 17 years? About how I'm destined to partake in a fatal duel of survival against my own twin sister?" She spat, looking up to expose her tearful eyes. "Or how you 'dealt with it' by running away from Mystic Falls the first chance you got instead of, I don't know, staying?!"
Klaus was perplexed as Lizzie wiggled out his grasp angrily and took a step back. Her cheeks a fiery red and small hands balled into even smaller fists. She was shaking but Klaus knew better than to approach her right now.
"Three days in your little blissful New Orleans bubble and just forgot about your family huh? You don't write, you don't call. What, you're allowed leave the problem like it doesn't exist but I can't?"
Her anger was manifesting, he could feel it.
He swallowed audibly. "That-that's more complicated—"
She screamed—more like a sharp screech like nails on a chalkboard—stunning Klaus. Her hands pulled at her hair unruly.
"Why, why is everything so damn complicated with this family! Complicated this or complicated that." She threw her hands up. "Why is that always the excuse used for none of us taking responsibility for the messed up things we do? No it's not complicated, it's actually simple. Just admit it, Klaus. Be the good man you want us to think you are...and admit it."
"You're upset, I understand—"
"Stop telling me what I am!" She groaned. "Or how I feel. I'm so tired of everyone doing that. You never did before. Just...just admit it..."
Klaus' own body began to tremble, but not out of anger.
"Admit what?" He asked warily.
"You left me, Klaus you left me!"
Her screams now accompanied with her thrashing the wooden cabinets of the dining room. The glass shield, along with the multiple place settings, now a scattered pile of pieces on the carpet. Telepathically knocking over every chair until the legs individually broke off, and shattering the lights above until they blacked out
Klaus' mouth opened and closed, completely astonished at her horrifically violent actions.
"Bloody hell!" He yelled, tugging at his hair. "Lizzie, what in the—"
"You said I could always depend on you except, when I actually needed you!" Throwing another plate into the wall.
He visibly swallowed. "Lizzie..."
"Don't come near me!" The witch sharply commanded when Klaus attempted to step forward, snatching a knife off the table in a haste.
His undead heart dropped into the pit of his stomach and face drained of color. The lump bobbed in his throat, wondering how they got here and how quickly could he deescalate the situation before venturing off to worse case scenarios. If he lunged at her there would be no chance.
Seeing no other option, he stayed in place holding his hands up to demonstrate his surrender but eyes never leaving the weapon in her small hand.
"Sweetheart, please..."
"You—you were the only person I wanted to talk to about this. Not Hope, not even Josie but you!" She exclaimed through clenched teeth, waving the sharp object aimlessly. "I just found out the most devastating news anyone could ever hear for their future. Do you know how that feels, to have your life taken from you like that, hm? I was the most terrified and angry I've ever been, and so confused. I needed you but—but you weren't there." Her sobs uncontrollable as she shook her head side to side frantically, the knife still in one hand—blade facing away—as she brought both up to cover her ears. Eyes pinched shut and face a deep cherry red.
Klaus stayed silent, not wanting to trigger her any more than she already was and cause more damage.
"You weren't there. I cried out for you, called your phone religiously all three days...but you never answered. You just left, without even saying goodbye. You left me alone. You didn't protect me..."
Correction: this was the most haunting image he's ever seen.
He stood there like a deer in headlights and an agonizing ache in his core.
The emotional thread finally snapped, and there was no saving from the rapture. When Lizzie wasn't scratching at her face and hair, she was throwing more furniture in sight and belted louder cries before helplessly falling to the ground—knees hitting first.
You didn't protect me...
Klaus experienced Lizzie's episodes before, recalling their intimate conversations where she confessed the amount of times she contemplated taking her own life. The dark thoughts she never went through with, but nonetheless scared herself to even let her mind go there in the first place. Klaus never told Caroline about the things Lizzie confided in him about, and he never would, but seeing her with that knife was cutting too close to home for his comfort.
He thought he was capable of handling her emotional mishaps, but this was a blend of pent up betrayal and fear that he had zero control over. So blinded by his own turmoil all he cared about was leaving the situation as quickly as possible, barely giving a thought to the people he was leaving behind. Not thinking, if he was going through he ringer like this imagine the twins. Knowing how Lizzie felt—how she's been feeling—and him being among the ones that hurt her made him physically sick.
What a coward, he thought, to abandon his family when they needed him the most? Caring for his then was all he cared about now, but already proving he was still capable of being a selfish prick with them. Failing at the only job that mattered—being a good father.
No more.
Rushing to her side, Klaus kicked the knife out her hand first then crouched down to cradle his incredibly strong but struggling daughter in his protective arms. Pulling her against him until she felt nothing but his warmth. Her hands stayed on her side, not embracing him fully, but Klaus was just relieved that she was allowing the hug at all.
Her tears staining his gray Henley as she buried her face into his calming embrace—the whimpers and screams muffled by his shield. Klaus caressed her hair and kissed the top of her head repeatedly, whispering reassuring words that she was safe as her cries continued to unfold. He wanted her to know she could be as vulnerable as needed, no holding back or saving face for anyone. For 1000 years Klaus suppressed his emotions to appear 'strong' and 'unbothered' but it only crippled him as the years went on—until Caroline—and even then took longer to understand what those feelings meant.
The huffing and puffing didn't let up the longer he held her—chest heavy and heaving.
Klaus gasped at the feel of her wrapping her arms around his waist, squeezing. Her death grip pierced into the fabric of his shirt as she healed onto him for dear life, never wanting to let him go. Each passing thought about the merge made her cry more.
Lizzie didn't plan on the outburst, not realizing how much she was hurting until the words began to spew. Her lungs felt shot , throat swollen and dry from the heavy cries and overflowing tears. Deep down this was the reason for her insistent denial. Discussing the matter meant it was real, and she wanted to hold onto the bliss a little while longer with the person who has made her feel the safest.
A few moments went by before Lizzie began to feel lighter and her breathing began to balance out. Her cries subtly ceased as she pulled her face from his chest. Lips plump and parted while observing the disaster she created—broken plates and glasses shattered on the floor and against the walls. Cabinet of silverware broken and chandelier barely hanging on. The shame began to overtake for not controlling her temper after working so hard towards not being an emotional wreck. As if all the progress she made was suddenly irrelevant. Hanging her head low until Klaus cradled her face in his hands, surprised to see his sunken reddened eyes matched hers.
In all the years of knowing Klaus she's never seen him cry, or any heavy emotion. He's been sad, sure, but nothing compared the bloodshot gaze directed towards her.
- Either he is the quietest crier to ever exist or I'm more self absorbed than I thought.
His thumbs swept across the skin underneath her eyes to rid them of the lingering tears, rewarding her with a sweet grin from his shaky lips. Even he was thrown off by his own wave of tears but...Klaus had a short list of people he actually cared about and seeing any of them in distress rubbed off on him.
Felt like 20 pounds had been lifted off both their chests, despite what brought them to this point.
"I'm sorry." Klaus said, his voice raspy.
Lizzie's sucked in her bottom lip, nodding her head.
"Klaus..."
He sniffled, giving her his full attention.
"I—Klaus—I don't want to die." She stammered, her throat beginning to tighten.
The hybrid nearly lost it, again. His eyes widened and mouth agape.
I don't want to die.
One of the first sentences Caroline ever said to him.
When he knew her strength before even knowing her—the baby vampire with the will to live. Who did not beg the powerful hybrid towering over her limp body for mercy, the way she didn't beg but decided to fight. How he could so easily see the same spark in their daughter's eyes...even if she didn't notice it herself.
Wiping away the remaining tears from her pretty face, Klaus nodded his head.
"I know."
Was all he could say, for now. Not even the miraculous Klaus Mikaelson wanted to give her false hope.
The exhaustion weighed down her eyes but she kept them open best she could, still holding onto Klaus but not as aggressively. Coming down from the emotional high took a greater toll than anticipated and felt if she tried to stand she'd fall over.
They were both mentally drained after confronting the realization of their mutual fear: losing each other.
Kissing her on the head again, Klaus lingered there a little longer and closed his eyes just to appreciate her—very much alive—presence. He didn't even have it in himself to be upset anymore, not even after the stunt she just pulled.
"Klaus, um, I said some bad things to my mom. Actually they were pretty horrific, and I don't think I can take any of that back." She sniffled staring up at him with regret. "How am I supposed to face her again? There's no way she'll forgive me."
He smiled. "There's no one with more forgiving bones in their body than your mother. The amount of chances she's given to people who don't deserve it, how many she's given me...you're her her daughter and she loves you more than life. There's nothing you can do that's unforgivable in her eyes."
"But—"
"You underestimate a mother's love, once upon a time so did I." The corner of his lips quirked up. "She understands you were angry and won't hold any of it against you, I assure you, though she might have some words about you running away which is valid."
They softly laughed. Lizzie bit down on her bottom lip.
"Do you still love her, my mom? Even after everything?" She timidly asked.
"Of course I do." He answered effortlessly, clearly making the girl happy.
"Good. Are you ready to forgive her?"
Klaus hummed, pressing his lips together with a sigh through his nose.
"You must be tired. Come on, I'll walk you up to your room." He said instead.
Lizzie decided not to pester further, mainly because she was in the same boat on how she felt towards Caroline or Alaric.
She allowed Klaus to help her onto her feet, making sure she was unharmed and stable enough to walk on her own. Granting him a sad but reassuring smile which was more than enough as he led her upstairs to lay down.
***************************************************
Mystic Falls, 9:30 PM
"Caroline, I never said I'm blaming you." Alaric tried convincing the pacing baby vampire.
"Our daughter ran away from home after talking with me, don't lie to me, because if the roles were reversed I would blame you." She claimed, still walking back and forth in their kitchen.
"It's not like we're running around like headless chickens anymore. We know exactly where Lizzie is and we know she's safe. Klaus would never let anything happen to her."
He was right, she knew he was but...that void remained open.
No word from Klaus or Lizzie all day, not even a simple text of when she planned to return. As badly as Caroline wanted to harass them, she rationalized—or rather Alaric talked her down—and agreed to give Lizzie time to cool off first. She was rightfully upset with both of them and needed space. The saving grace was knowing where she was and that she was safe, and also being aware of Klaus' well being. Why wasn't New Orleans her first guess?
"You need to calm down, here." Alaric calmly offered her a drink.
Caroline crossed her arms, turning her head to face him not realizing he was now beside her with two glasses of scotch in his hands. She reluctantly grabbed one before leaning against the countertop, biting her bottom lip and shaking her head.
"She hates me, they both do." Sipping on the bitter drink.
"They do not hate you—"
"You didn't see how they looked at me, or hear the things Lizzie said to me, and I deserved it."
"No." Alaric walked over to where she stood. 'This is on both of us. Mainly me because I knew even before you did. We both made an agreement about not telling the girls about the merge, we chose to handle it on our own."
"Then why I am I the only one feeling guilty?" She asked before downing the rest of her drink.
Alaric sighed. "I do feel guilty, Caroline, everyday I felt it too. You're a good person and exceptional mother and that comes with a heavy heart. You care about the people you love even if it means you get the short end of the stick. I really am sorry Klaus found out the way he did. It was never my plan to be the one to tell him."
"I know." She said.
"But it doesn't make up for anything." He realized. " I do hope Lizzie and Klaus return soon so we can finally talk as a family."
Caroline's eyebrows shot up amusedly. "Did I hear that incorrectly or did you just refer to Klaus as part of the family?"
He chuckled. "As much as I hate to admit it, and as much as I wish otherwise, you love him and so do our girls. Our clan keeps expanding and I would never be able to explain how twisted all of it is. But my personal feelings aside, he's your family which means to an extent he matters to me as well."
Not that Alaric's opinions on her relationship with Klaus ever made a difference, but this was a permanent arrangement. Caroline knew Alaric and Klaus were not friends and probably never would be, but at least being cordial and accepting of one another meant even more.
She weakly smiled, resting her hand over his on the kitchen counter. "Thank you."
Alaric returned the smile and the ringing of the doorbell immediately followed.
The two looked at each other confusingly, knowing neither were expecting any guests for the night and Josie and Hope were in their respective rooms.
Caroline waited as Alaric walked out the kitchen and towards the front door, too noses to stay in place she poked her head out to sneak a glance. The door was opened but Alaric's body was blocking who he was standing in front of him.
Moving closer, she noticed four pairs of feet and one were covered by black combat boots and the other was embraced by Alaric wearing sparkling white high top converse tennis shoes.
- They're here?!
Caroline was flashing forward before her mind could fully process her own speculations, which were proven to be true. Realizing her gasp louder than anticipated when it made all three of them turn to face her.
Instantly making eye contact with Lizzie—blue on blue—saddled and remorseful.
The young witch left Alaric's side and timidly approached her mother, twisting her lips with her hands anxiously grabbing at the straps of her backpack.
"Hi mom..."
Caroline exhaled a breath she unintentionally held before reaching out and pulling her daughter into her arms for the momma bear hug they both needed.
Lizzie felt overwhelmed with the affection, from both her mother and Klaus, but accepted wholeheartedly. Flaunting a close-lipped smile as she hugged her back just as intensely.
"Don't you ever scare me like that again, do you understand me?" Caroline softly demanded into her blonde curls.
Lizzie frantically nodded and hugged tighter, underestimating how much she craved her mother's touch. With a final sniffle, Caroline finally released her with a lingering smile, kissing her on the forehead before stepping to the side so she could walk inside with Alaric—leaving her alone with the hybrid. Suddenly the nerves settled in with the blank look he flashed towards her.
Three and a half days since she last seen him and nothing changed besides her amplified feelings.
Klaus remained outside on the cold porch while she was inside standing between the threshold of the door. Caroline hated not knowing where she stood with people, and Klaus' unreadable face did nothing to subside that annoyance.
- Maybe he's still upset?
She wanted to run into his arms the moment they're alone but, what if things have changed for the worst? What if he brought Lizzie back but is planning on leaving Caroline? What if he didn't forgive her?
She nervously gulped when he finally stepped more into the light—as handsome and imperfect as ever—his straight lips curved into a full smirk.
"Hello love."
Caroline's lips struggled to form a smile in between her relieved blubbering. She covered her mouth, embarrassed by her reaction from a simple 'hello'.
"You came back..." She managed to say, tucking one of her curls behind her ear.
Klaus' smirk only widened, decreasing the gap between them until they were only inches apart with him still standing outside the door.
Having him so close but so far was the most cruel act he could do to her. Those three and a half days felt like an eternity. Where she realized her life was no longer complete without him. He had taken her—body and soul—all those years ago when he swooshed into her life and she swore a long time ago she was done denying it.
Distance was not an option anymore. She missed him, god did she miss him, and his dimpled smile and masculine presence. If he wanted to stop her he could but all she cared about was embracing the return of the man she loved.
In a blink of an eye Caroline's body was colliding with his, face buried into his shoulder and arms securely around his neck as the tears already began streaming down her cheeks.
Affection, comfort and nurture were new concepts for Klaus who unfortunately had no experience of his own growing up. Not think he would ever be granted the opportunity to extend those feelings to others, let alone have people in his life he cared about enough.
Initially taken aback, Klaus completed the hug by encircling her waist and pulling her against his firm chest subconsciously. Inhaling her warm scent, hair and presence as if for the first time. He could feel her tears staining his shirt but it didn't matter, nothing mattered besides the woman in his arms.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry..." She pleaded between broken sobs as she gripped onto him tighter.
"Shh, love...it's all right." He tried reassuring her, rubbing her back up and down soothingly but he felt her shaking her head.
"No, it's not." Her voice unwavering as she pulled away enough to look up at him.
Her eyes puffy and tired compared to their usual vibrant form—breaking Klaus' cold dead heart more than he thought was possible.
Klaus let out a low breath as her eyes bored deeply into his, demonstrating the severity of her plea, she continued to explain herself.
"I'm sorry," she repeated, "I'm sorry for not telling you from the beginning. It was never my intent to keep anything from you."
"I know—"
"Please, let me finish." Caroline interrupted and Klaus obliged. "First of all, the twins are your daughters as much as mine and I'm sorry I ever made you feel otherwise. For someone who is constantly being reminded they're biologically not mine and having to deal with judgmental gossipers, I should have known better. I wasn't thinking. Even if it wasn't my intent to hurt you I still said it, and I'm sorry."
Klaus understandably nodded. It was as if she knew that particular section of their fight cut the deepest.
"Secondly, I was scared. I've been scared about the merge since Alaric first explained it to me and when I get scared I tend to turn people away. It's what I did to you, and them. I'm so used to making all the decisions regarding all of this because it was the only bit of control I had. Then circumstances changed when you came back into my life the way you did. I never expected us to become what we are, or you loving the girls as much as you do but there's nothing I wanted more. Our relationship is means everything to me. I'm so grateful to have you in our lives. I love you so much and I'm so—"
His lips molded against hers before she could muster another apology, desperate and commanding as her mouth opened to him from the pressure—succumbing to the warmth of his wet tongue. Pulling at each other mercilessly.
There was obviously more they needed to discuss—starting with proper discipline for their delinquent child—and solutions to theorize but neither of them could find it in themselves to care right now. After being away from each other for what felt like a lifetime the longing for one another only increased.
Caroline raised her fingers into his hair, standing on her tippy toes while lightly tugging at the light curls on the back of his neck. Venturing up to trace his scalp as she pressed his face more against hers—if that was even possible. Needing him, inhaling all he had to give. His talented tongue drew out soft whimpers from her lips before aiming for another passionate kiss to explain without words how much he missed her too.
His determined hands traveled from her face to squeezing her sides and caressing her silk covered back, bringing her closer in the most demanding but loving way. Tasting the teardrops that fell down her rosy cheeks and combined with their interlocked lips. Klaus almost felt ridiculous fore leaving in the first place, no matter how angry he was, but the distance made his love for her grow stronger. Rationalizing his thoughts instead of lashing out—progress.
She was more than apologetic, he felt it with through every kiss and tug. His anger was warranted, but deep down he knew Caroline was coming from a good place because he knew her heart. Nothing about this was easy on anyone and that was the reality they had to face, as a family. Being with Caroline now, holding and kissing her on the porch where any Mystic Falls resident or student could see, was the insight he needed. All he wanted to do was take her inside and never leave their bed. To shower her with love and affection to make up for lost time—forget about the bad shit just for a night.
Following that train of thought, Klaus' hands now rested dangerously on her hips, suggestively, their lips still moving together in perfect rhythm as he blindly lead them backwards and closing the door behind them with his foot.

NOTES:
It's been a while. I've had these two chapters written for a while now but I haven't had time to sit down, edit them a little better and post them. Since I have time now, I thought I'd go ahead and do that, whether you guys asked for these next two chapters or not.
Sorry this took forever! Sorry I'm so slow, I've been settling into a new house and taking care of some IRL stuff / taking a little break. I swear, I'm going to update everything sooner or later. >.>
I love you guys.
WARNINGS:
NON/ LOOSE CANON COMPLIANCE - this is the biggest warning, so if you’re into things that follow exact canon plot you are… definitely not going to like this. ANGST & SLOW BURN, HEAVY SEXUAL TENSIONSTARTING NOW, ACTUALLY - this is just so everyone who started reading this thinking the smut would transpire in a hurry knows that apparently, it is not. VIOLENCE / SWEARING & FIGHTING, POSSIBLE UNDERAGE DRINKING AND OTHER SHENANIGANS- look.. it’s high school. shit happens. also apparently, my ofc Alyssa uses the word fuck like all the time?…EVENTUAL SEXUAL CONTENT / A VIRGIN ORIGINAL CHARACTER- this one is self explanatory. yes, i plan to write a smutty chapter in this at some point. when? i don’t rightly know. it’s got a while before we get there. STALKER TW - this chapter marks the true appearance of Alyssa's ex, Dave Novak. It's hinted heavily that he's a gross asshole who likes to play mind games.
If you're under 18+, probably not a good or wise idea to continue reading this series. Because there are going to be a few dark and adult themes within. I'll warn here, of course, but you need to understand that I don't control you. If you continue to read after having read the warnings and you're upset or don't like something... Totally on you, friend.

Each new text that came in had me tensing up. Careful to keep my phone out of sight of anyone who was nearby. My heart was about to beat right out of my chest and my stomach felt like it sank to the floor. I was barely listening to anything being said around me and I guess it was more obvious than I thought because Toni cleared her throat, nodding to the phone in my hand.
Gazing at me in concern.
“Everything okay? You look like you’re going to be sick.”
“Yeah, yeah. Everything is fine.” I lied. I think at that particular point in time, I was just trying to convince myself that this was all some kind of bad dream. Or worst case scenario, Dave was making empty threats.
Toni eyed me suspiciously. I tried to give her a convincing smile, but I’d have had to be an idiot to even think for a second that she believed me. She eyed my phone and reached for it. I managed to shove it in my pocket.
“Trust me.” I pleaded. She gave me a wary look and sighed, grumbling “Fine, okay. Alright.” under her breath.
And I did my best to push the texts out of my head. Jumping in the conversation she had going on with Cheryl and Veronica. Laughing and talking as if nothing were wrong.
Lying through the skin of my teeth.
XXX
“What’s got you so jumpy?”
The question caught me off guard. I wanted to tell someone what was going on, I really did, but… I didn’t want to worry anyone, either. I was at least 99.9 percent sure that there was absolutely no way that Dave would show up in Riverdale, at least that’s what I was hoping.
I did my best to play it off. Shoveling french fries into my mouth just so I didn’t have to answer right away. My cell phone lit up and I flinched before I could stop myself.
Toni reached for it and I quickly grabbed it and shoved it in my pocket. She gave me a concerned look and I muttered quietly, “Probably just Reggie...again.”
“Reggie’s with that new girl though?” Cheryl spoke up. Gazing at me thoughtfully. My breath caught in my throat because if anyone would catch on to there being something truly wrong with me or something off in the way I was acting, it’d be her or Polly.
So far, I’d managed to fool everyone else into thinking I was alright, even my dad and my brother.
,, Dave won’t come here, it’s not worth the hassle. He’s just playing mind games. That’s all this is. Pull yourself together.” the thought came and I managed a smile, shrugging.
“You’ve been acting weird all week, now that I’m thinking about it.” Cheryl was the one who said it and she gave me an expectant look. Waiting.
“I have not.”
,, I do have one secret I can spill. Maybe if I tell them about my crush on Sweetpea…” and so that’s what I did. Sighing as I reached for the shared plate of fries between the three of us. Raking my fries through my vanilla milkshake and taking a few deep breaths to kind of collect myself, both from Dave’s harassing texts and what I was finally about to get off my chest about having feelings for Sweetpea.
“You have. Start talking.” Toni spoke up, watching me. Sizing me up. If I had to guess, I’d pin money on her sitting across the booth, trying to figure out what was up with my jumpy attitude all week.
“Okay, alright. Fine. But what I’m about to tell you two does not leave this table, okay? It.. It can’t. If Sweetpea ever found out, pretty sure he’d start avoiding me and things would get weird.”
Toni and Cheryl exchanged a look and then Toni nodded. Chewing a mouthful of fries as she muttered calmly, “Go on.”
“ I may or may not have a crush on Sweetpea.”
“Oh, you definitely have a crush on him. It’s kind of obvious.” Cheryl gave a soft teasing grin and I sighed. Dragging my hand through my hair and taking a few seconds to let her words sink in. I almost dreaded asking, but I felt like I had to given that she said it was obvious. “Oh god.. He doesn’t suspect anything.. Right?”
“Oh, he’s the only one whose oblivious. But the rest of us, we’ve known a while.” Toni teased me. Then asked calmly, “Is that all? Why’s that have you so jumpy?”
“Because I know how bad I am at hiding things, okay? I was kind of… I dunno, freaking out I guess.” I eyed her, waiting. Searching her face in the hopes that she accepted what I said and didn’t keep pushing. A few seconds passed and she laughed softly. Took a sip of her strawberry milkshake and asked with a smirk, “Are you gonna do anything about it?”
“Probably not. Every time I even think about it, I manage to talk myself right out of it. He’d laugh his ass off, okay? Besides, remember all the flirting he was doing with Josie when they had to work together during the play?” I pouted as I pointed it out.
Cheryl and Toni exchanged looks and Toni laughed. “He was doing that to make you jealous. Or that’s what I think he was doing. Either way… I think you should do something. He’s not going to and trust me… I’ve known the guy my whole life. I know him well enough to say that I know he has a thing for you. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so cranky when you two first met?”
“I thought he was just naturally grumpy?”
“Oh, he is, but the way he was towards you was totally different. He’s only that grumpy when he’s trying to keep his defenses up.” Toni informed me before finishing off her shake.
The door to the diner opened and Sweetpea walked in, Fangs in tow. The two of them were laughing about something. I gave both Cheryl and Toni a pleading look and Cheryl seemed to pick up on my unspoken plea to change the subject thankfully, because she asked, “Are you going to F.P’s retirement party at the Wyrm?”
“Yeah.” I answered, finishing off my milkshake. Sweetpea flopped into the booth beside me, carelessly slinging an arm over the back of the seat. His hand brushed against my shoulder and I swear just the small brush against me felt like someone had taken a livewire and dragged it over my body real slow.
Toni smirked at me, nodding at Sweetpea while he was too busy wolfing down french fries to notice and I shook my head.
“I dare you. No… I triple dare you.. Flirt with him.” Toni gave a teasing grin as she mouthed the words to me and I swallowed hard.
She’s not playing fair. She knows I can’t turn down a dare.
I happened to glance out the window of the diner and when I thought I saw Dave standing there, leaning against a streetlamp, one hand in his pocket and a cigarette dangling between his lips, I nearly choked. This prompted Sweetpea to start hitting me on the back lightly as he laughed and looked at me in concern. “Damn cherry, are you trying to kill yourself?”
Toni’s brow raised and Sweetpea explained what happened earlier in the day, how I’d nicked myself with the scalpel in our first period class while doing a dissection. What Sweetpea didn’t know was that when it happened, it was because I thought I’d seen Dave standing outside in the parking lot, only to blink and the parking lot be empty.
I have got to stop letting his stupid mind games get to me. It’s just because he’s texting me again. It’s just because he knows how to work me up and get me all scared, he used to be good at it when we dated.
He’d never come to Riverdale. He’s just doing this to me for his own sick amusement and every single time I let him get to me, especially when I’m to a point where I’m so paranoid I’m imagining that I see him everywhere lately, it’s letting him win and that pisses me off more than anything.
I’m supposed to be stronger than that, damn it.
Toni eyed me suspiciously and I braced myself. When she didn’t bring up my skittish behavior, I relaxed a little.
I wanted to tell someone what was going on, but at the same time, why? I’m pretty sure this is just Dave, being an absolute bag of dicks.
It has to be that. It has to be.
XXX
He stood outside some podunk little diner right in the heart of town. The hazy red neon gave off a comforting and inviting warmth and he lit his cigarette, fuming in anger as he watched her sitting inside.
“I know you’re not ignoring me, scarlet. I know you’re not.” he muttered, mostly to himself as he turned the collar of his leather jacket up against the wind and started to walk towards the South Side.
Maybe it was time he paid his old buddy Eric a visit. Eric was out of prison. Eric was the one who’d told him where Alyssa was to begin with, though he didn’t realize it.
Dave chuckled and shook his head as he walked towards the shitty apartments on the opposite end of town where Eric lived. Eric owed him a few favors. He was coming to collect.
“Did you really think I was jokin when I told ya I have friends all over? That you weren’t ever gonna get away from me?” he mused to himself as he knocked on the door of a first floor slum apartment.
Eric opened the door, leaning in it lazily. Blinking at him in a daze and smirking. High fiving him as he asked him why he was in town.
Dave whipped out his phone, showing Eric a picture of Alyssa. At first he gave him some story about her running off while he was in the pen. Eric wasn’t buying it, he could see it written in the expression on his face. And that only made him angry. Eric owed him. He was here to collect the favor owed. All he wanted was for Eric to help him out on this one little thing.
Eric shook his head, chuckling in disgust. Gazing at him with a brow raised. “I think you need to leave, man. Now. You don’t want the heat this is gonna bring down on you. And I’m not about to get on a Serpent’s bad side, even if the Serpent in question is just a damn kid.”
“See, I’d like to just put this all behind me, man... but she’s the whole reason I even went to prison to begin with. Then I get out and find out not only is my girl not loyal, she’s also the one who snitched on me?” Dave eyed Eric. Getting irritated because this was not how he saw the conversation going.
“I’m telling you, you need to leave. Forget about Alyssa. I see her around all the time with some kid… Sweet Pea or Green Bean, some shit. The Serpents are not people you fuck with, man. Not around these parts.”
“You know the Serpents aren’t shit to me… Right?” Dave quipped, smirking. “I’ve got this under control. I just need you to help me out a little… C’mon, man. You owe me.”
“I don’t fucking care. I’m not helping you do whatever it is you’re here to do. What I oughta do is put a bullet in your fucking head for even thinking I’d be down for this shit. She’s a kid, man. A fucking kid... Favor or not, man… I’m on the Serpents side with this. Not yours. You need to leave.” Eric warned, giving Dave a firm glare as he folded heavily tattooed arms over his chest.
“Oh, so that’s how you’re playin, huh? Okay. Alright. All I wanna do is see her again. I’m not going to do anything. I just want to straighten things out. Get a little closure on the situation...”
Eric scoffed. “This coming from the king of overreaction. I don’t trust you.I’m breakin code of my gang by even talking to your ass. Nope. The answer is no. I’m not helping. Do whatever you have to do to me, but I’m not about to help you scare some kid. I’ve got better things to do with my time, buddy...”
Dave’s arm shot out and he pinned Eric against the door of his apartment. Smirking at him calmly. “I know you haven’t forgotten just how much your sorry ass owes me. Because that’s what this sounds like.”
“I guess that’s what it is then. Because I’ve seen what the Serpents can do. I’m not about to bring all that down on my head.” Eric stepped back inside his apartment, slamming the door in Dave’s face, leaving him to glare at the closed door and take a swing.
“Guess I’m doing this all by myself.” Dave mused as he turned and wandered down to a shitty dive bar nearby. He needed to have a few rounds. Come up with a plan.
And a little after midnight, after finding himself a few new talkative friends in some local Ghoulies, things were starting to look up for him. And he was slowly forming a plan.
Now he just had to wait. Pick his moment. Toy with her a little more.
“I’m so close I can almost touch you, scarlet. Soon… Soon you’re going to pay for running your mouth to mommy about me...” he smirked to himself as he unlocked his hotel room and stepped inside.

Scooby Doo (2002) Review: The Most Punchable Fred Jones of All Time
Tumblr media
It’s one last hurrah for Halloween as I take a look at the often derided 2002 Scooby Doo Movie! See what happens when you combine future superstar director James Gunn with .. the guy who thought directing the Smurf’s movie and Big’s Mama’s House were good ideas. Oh and with a splash of the guy who wrote the loveable family film Cheaper by the Dozen and the utterly loathed Percy Jackson film. It’s as messy as you’d expect with that.. but is it BAD? good, so bad it’s good, just sorta okay? Come with me as I try to find out under the cut with a full review.
I’ve always loved Scooby Doo. I grew up with the guy, watching reruns of the non-scrappy classic series from Where Are You to the Scooby Doo Movies, the three Superstar 10 movies (Boo Brothers, Ghoul School and Reluctant Werewolf), or the at the time brand new What’s New Scooby Doo. And later in life i’d absolutely adore Mystery Incorporated.. minus the whole Shaggy, Scooby Velma love triangle, but i’ll likely cover that at some point or sooner, you can comission reviews from me for 5 bucks each, 5 dollars off group orders if you really want to make me suffer through that that bad. But getting off self promotion point is I loved and still love the franchise. While I”ve yet to see “Scooby Doo and Guess Who”, though given there’s Weird Al, Kristan Schaal and Urkel episodes you can be sure i’m going to eventually, and Scoob was VERY ehhh even if Dick Dastardly was awesome. But despite my history with the great dane much like with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, despite my rich history with the franchise I haven’t dove in yet and with a friend who could use a nice halloween suprise and loves scooby doo, I figured now was the time to take a look at it.  And since i’d been wanting to take a look at it again anyway, and decided going big wasn’t a bad way to start, i’m taking a look at the 2002 Scooby Doo movie. I saw this flim first run in a drive in, and saw the sequel the same way and loved it as a kid, and fondly remember checking out the Sountrack Preview page back before youtube existed to make checking out soundtracks easier. It was a simplier time. And even rewatching it later with my nieces, I found myself liking it.  And the thing was almost every time this film comes up it’s with a turned up nose. The CGI, the confused audience, the deciding to cast Freddy Prinze Junior.. all terrible decisions that overshadow the film, when it’s not that bad. It’s not GREAT, but it’s not TERRIBLE either. So what is it then? Well i’ll tells ya. Let’s start with
PRODUCTION: Wait James Gunn Wrote This?
At the turn of the millneium Scooby Doo was back on top. After waning popularity during the Scrappy era, the advent of the warner affilated Cartoon Network meant a whole new generation of kids (raises hand) got to experince Scooby Doo for the first time. This new audeince lead to Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, the first of the franchises 80 or so DTV movies that will continue on long after the earth dies, and brought back the franchise after it’s long slumber. Scooby Doo went from dead to as popular as he was in his hey day again. Naturally Warner wanted to cash in and thus this movie was born.  Originally the film was supposed to be a more adult project, a send up of the franchise with more sex jokes and what not than made the final cut according to writer James Gunn. Yes, the same James Gunn who wrote and directed the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and whose currently saving the suicide squad. It was one of Gunn’s earlier films but just from when he’s talked about it, you can tell he genuinely cared about the project.  Along for the ride with our future Guardian was his co-writer, Craig Titely,  who i’m convinced only came in to do punch ups as the guy has only written three other movies. One of them was being one of MANY writers on Cheaper by the Dozen and thus likely not doing much of note with that, and the other.. is being the only writer on Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief’s movie adaptation.. aka the movie the fanbase and general audiences rejected in droves yet SOMEHOW got a sequel. Which is somehow still worse than his other film, one that asks “was the moon landing a hoax?” Spoilers, it wasn’t. Point is this isn’t a resume that screams co creator and more screams “Guy brought in to kid freindly this up”. More on that in a minute.  The director is another less than reassuring face: Raja Gosnell, whose credits BEFORE this film were Home Alone 3, Never Been Kissed and Big Momma’s house.. so already he dosen’t have the best track record but somehow got worse because AFTER this film and it’s sequel he directed both live action Smurfs Movies and the universally hated Show Dogs, aka the film  that thought dog rape was funny. The fact this film isn’t out and out terrible is a miracle.
Even more so because naturally, as Studios tend to do they interfered: The film was supposed to be more adult, cracking jokes about common things fans of the series growing up thought like Velma is Gay or Shaggy’s a stoner, and having both be fully true. But wanting to appeal to kids, Warner gradually lightned it, hence Craig, and Raja clearly having no shame gladly took it instead of you know.. standing his ground.  So Velma has a love intrest thrown in and her kiss with Daphne is gone, while Shaggy’s toke smoking was lowered to subtext.. because either of those things is bad apparently? I dunno the 2000′s were fucked.
Point is THAT’S why these films are so tonally confused and why I don’t hold it agains the film now I know: It wasn’t James Gunn or even, as dumb as he is, Raja Gosnell’s fault that the film had some tones clashing when the studio was demanding it, instead of you know, thinking this through at all and realizing more kids cared about Scooby Doo than they would’ve josie and the pussy cats instead of bringing it up DURING production, when most of the adult stuff was in there. It’s also why the sequel has no real adult stuff, though it’s STILL damn good, but i’ll get to that some other day.
The film was also shot at an actual theme park in australia. Neat.
So yeah the film’s humor kind of ping pongs between knowing adult winks and kids stuff. We get Scooby dressing like a grandma in the same film shaggy enhales his demon possed love intrests breath like weed. The jokes themselves on average are pretty good: Some of my faviorites include the grandma scene, everything rowan atkinson does, Velma getting drunk off her ass, and the instructional video bit which is easily my favorite bit of the episode and one of my faviorite scooby doo jokes period:
youtube
This is even FUNNIER to me on rewatch, as we now know this is an instructional video for demons.. and that Scrappy clearly had enough problems with his demon horde to have to pay for this thing. It tis glorious.  However there also are also a few that HAVE NOT aged well, are very creepy at best and disgusting sexual assault at worst with Daphne getting her ass grabbed by the Luna Ghost at the start being treated as a joke and Fred oggling Daphne’s body when he’s in it being treated as a ha ha and not...
Tumblr media
So yeah the humor’s USUALLY good, but the slipups are noticable and do bring things down a bit when they come by. So the humor is decent if mixed and the production’s a nightmare, how’s the plot? The Plot: Scoob, We’re Getting the Band Back Together!
I won’t be as through as usual because this is a 90 minute movie, I’m running behind as is and it’s 20 years old,
We start with your standard mystery inc case with the Luna Goose, aka Old Man Incel who resented Pamela Anderson for not boning him. But Fred hogging the glory during the resulting News Cast leads the gang to start fighting over lingering tensions: Velma is tired of Fred hogging all the credit when she does most of the legwork solving things, Daphne is tired of being kidnapped and being mistreated by Velma and Freddy who laugh at the idea of her doing more, and Fred..
Tumblr media
We’ll get to him later. Shaggy is the only one wanting to stick together, but no one’s having it and the group breaks apart and Matthew LIllard REALLY sells Shaggy’s heartbreak over his friends all abandoning him well.
Two years later though, with Shaggy and Scooby naturally getting stoned and eating large quantities of food on the beach, have made peace with retirement, and have apparently had to duck tons of people coming to them to solve mysteries since they aren’t about that. The latest in that line is a man representing Emile Mondovarius, the owner of Spooky Island, a vast island resort and theme park. Naturally since it has spooky in the name the boys want nothing but Mondovarius does what honestly every previous guy coming to them should’ve done: offers them an all you can eat buffet.  Since they’ve done more traumatizing for Dog Treats, they agree and it soon turns out the entire gang was invited, though none of them but Shaggy and Scooby are happy to see each other. I will say one of my complaints about the film is it never tackles the emotions behind the breakup: while the teams slowly repairs there are never any outright apologizes or scenes of them recociling or scenes of Shaggy chewing them out for abandoning him due to their spat. It just skips over the emotional bits to either wave a joke for the kiddies around or scream
Tumblr media
Really the jokes aren’t bad, the film just has trouble with actual emotion or depth that could’ve been there and tries for it once in a while, but dosen’t really do anything with it. The gang splitting up’s a good concept, and at this point on Scooby Doo on Zombie Island had really used it, and that was one where they were clearly still close friends and were still in touch they just quit mystery solving for a while till Zombie Island happened. Mystery Incorpreated would finally give this story justice later: Instead of over a petty ego squabble, the gang broke up over underlying tensions: The revelations about Fred’s dad caused him to go try and find himself, Velma alienated herself by hiding things from them, and Shaggy was shipped off to Military School and Scooby doggy prison camp... thankfully the last two didn’t last and Scooby rescued Shaggy with a tank but the tension DIDN’T go away: While the gang mostly reunited, Velma took time to forgive them and also tried bringing in the friend/girlfriend she’d made in the meantime only for her friends to isolate her and throw her out while Daphne took her time to return due to being hurt by fred. It’s complex and good stuff versus here where it’s just “WE’RE APART BECAUSE WE HATES EACH OTHER. And now we’re NOT”. It’s just a waste of a good concept and i’ m glad the franchise got around to doing it right.
But my gripes aside our heroes head to the resort and meet Mondevarious, who admits outright to having tricked then and with confronted with the gang being broken up, makes it clear he knews.  “That’s the thing about broken things.. you can put them back together.”
And so he did. He needs the Gang’s help as he’s worried about the island and something going wrong there: The teens are leaving polite, well behaved. and clearly not themselves as one reacts to an old friend by neck lifting him and tossing him aside. Something’s deeply wrong here and the gang’s intrest is piqued enough to stay though everyone but Shaggy is determined to solve it themselves out of ego. Mondvarius is played by Rowan Atkinson and while I watched the bean movie as a kid this is where I fell in love with the guy, with later watches of Blackadder confirming that in my college years. Rowan just brings a fun dorky energy to the character and a nice earnestness too but when he later takes a turn for the bad, he does that well too. Atkinson is HIGHLY underated in my opinon and easily the MVP of this film’s supporting cast.   So the investigation begins, and we get our supsects: The first we met on the plane, Mary Jane, a kind blonde played by Isla Fisher who got the job becasue Gosnel, in a rare good decision, saw how talented she was and while still picking Sara Michele Gellar for Daphne, made sure she had  a part. She’s a nice sweet girl who Shaggy falls for and Scooby’s annoyed by it.. though unlike earlier the film beats mystery inc easily here as it’s a more understandable conflict and dosen’t act like Dog Issues is a thing people says. Again i’ll get to that clusterfuck of an arc some day. The other two are N’Goo Tuna, a shady worker at the park who spouts off the legends of the island. In a nice twist, he’s NOT the vilian, as is obvious but is his right hand man. He also has his own right hand and muscle in Zarkos a cool looking Luchador and N’Goo’s muscle. Also N’Goo may be one of the worst names in Scooby Doo History, and that includes Dabba Doo. But the legend claims the island was once owned by demons who want revenge since the resort took the island from him.
The other is probably my faviorite non Rowan Atkinson character, Voodoo Maestro, played by Miguel Nunez. He’s basically just a guy who lives on the fringes of the island and also hates the resort and tries using voodoo curses. He’s honestly a delight from his attempt to sacrifice a chicken (An already dead one at that), to his general hammy and annoyed at dealing with these teenagers demeanor. NAturally he has nothing to do with this but he’s still a fun addition and I wish he was in more scnenes than the two he gets.  But with what they’ve gathered the gang all end up at a spooky castle attraction, with Scooby and Shaggy of course being bribed by daphne while Velma and Fred show up indpeendntly and end  up finding the weird training video from earlier but all get caught when the traps are activiated> There’s also a farting contest which.. eh not funny to me but i’ve seen so much worse i’m not even remotely upset. But then the traps trigger though during the chaos Fred and Velma are forced to work together and finally start doing so, and Daphne finds a clue: A mysterious pyramid known as the damon righus and finally gets some, if not nearly enough, credit.  So the gang is back together.. even if it’s a tenative peace, the high from solving this and relay to their boss the suspects, including him, though Fred assures Mondovarius it’s just because he’s spooky and rowan’s character’s delight over that is fucking glorious.  So the gang enjoys some down time at the local bar, with Fred and Daphne doing their own look ins, Scooby and Shaggy eating and encountring mary again and Velma getting hit on by a dude while looking over the ritus, revealing it’s some sort of soul sucking aparatus, and going into their history... which is really just an excuse to bring Scrappy in who in this universe, is a horny egotistical little shit whose abandoned as a result. ANd before anyone boos he’s not a puppy here, he’s got.. dog dwarfisim.. which while .. how does that even work... means he’s a grown ass man and deserved this. We also get drunk velma and Linda Caredenlli is a delight
The night gets interupted by terrible cgi monsters, the aformentioned emon who soul suck most of the college kids present and also get fred and velma who both find out these are very much real. We also get the best song on the soundtrack, man with a hex. It slaps. But it makes good chase music as with Mondvarious, Fred and Velma captured, the rest of the gang and mary escape.  The next morning we get a surreal as hell scene as everyone’s partying, Fred’s talking in slang and Velma with clevage, thank you, is chatting up.. Sugar Ray? For those younger of you they were a band at the time. They were a big thing. Not half bad but faded away. They looked as 2000′s as hell though. WHy Smash Mouth gets all the memes and not them is beyond me. Look at lead singer Mark McGrath! It’s like the early 2000′s gained sentience and took a human form. But the gang is quickly forced to run from sugar ray, though they get Daphne in a deleted scene. Why it was deleted I dunno. Point is Shaggy, Scooby and Mary are all alone.. oh and Mary’s possessed. Shaggy and Scooby argue over it because Shaggy just thinks Scooby is jealous and while he is .. why would he lie about this? He’s as cowardly as you are. But Scooby falls through the floor, and Shaggy is now going solo but luckily finds his friends souls, and eveyrone elses in a massive cool looking vat and frees them all.  Velma, when the demon leaves her and confronts her, finds out sunlight kills the demons and saves Daphne from hers... only to find Fred in her body. Daphne is naturally horrified and we do get a great bodyswapping scene.
Our heroes reconvince on the beach where htey find the Maestro who explains what’s going on to a point, with the gang’s clues filling in the blanks: The ritus, which they stole back earlier, is used for a ritual that will allow the Demons to rule over the earth for “a thousand years of darkness” but it requires a pure soul to work. Cue our big bad talking Scooby into being their willing sacrifice since Scooby dooes not understand what a sacrifice is.  Shaggy naturally rallies the group to go save him after their understandably worried since they usually dealt with weirdos in costumes and not the apocalypse.. well okay Velma and Fred aren’t, Daphne dealt with this kind of thing once a week back in Sunnydale. So they set up a plan to destroy all the demons at once by unleashing the soul bath, setting them all loose and then using a spooky disco ball from one of the attractions rigged up over the ritual area to shine the light in. It’s classic scooby doo.
Things naturally go wrong as while Shaggy goes to rescue scooby and makes up with him, he’s caught, so are fred and velma and they have to scramble, while Daphne looses a fight with the luchador up top while trying to let the light in to finish the trap. Meanwhile Shaggy saves Scooby’s soul just as Mondovarious sucks it out by shoving the guy.. revealing him to be a robot! DUN DUN DUN. And inside is Scrappy.. which you all probably knew already but try to act suprise who wanted to conquer the world as revenge for the gang abandoning him and because again, in this universe he’s kind of an asshole. He absorbs the souls gathered so far and merges with the damon ritus, because we’re operating on video game rules now apparently, so final boss time.  But we get a great climax as Scrappy chases scooby, Daphne goes buffy on Zarkos ass , and as a result he shatters the glass and lets the light in releasing the disco ball the kill the demons.. man I love that I get to type things like that. Scooby removes the ritus and defeats his nephew and the day is saved. Velma hooks up with random guy, Daphne and Fred get together, I die inside a little and Shaggy and Mary Jane bond. At the press Fred does his good deed for the movie by letting Velma explain things and get the spotlight and the group have firmly reunited. THE END. Overall it’s a solid plot, that works well, comes together in the end and was well put together, it’s more the filling that causes it to tilt back and forth a bit, but overlal outside of the issue I mentioned it’s a good scooby doo plot. While some have pointed out it is similar to zombie island, a case reuniting the gang, the person who brought them there wanting to sacrifice them, or just scooby here, monsters being real, it works because everything else is so different. But since there’s more to break down and it’s easier to give it it’s own section let’s look at...
THE CHARACTERS: NOT HALF BAD, FRED CAN GO FUCK HIMSELF.
So we’re down to character.. and since there’s a blonde, preeening, selfish, arrogant, sleazy, sexist, obnoxious, loud mouthed, useless elephant in the room, let’s start with Fred. And to quote it’s always sunny....
Tumblr media
Yeah so that fury of a thousand crashing waves (Cracks Knuckles): Fred is the worst part of this movie, the worst version of the character across the entire franchise that i’ve seen with the sincre doubt that there is ANY version worse than this. Everything I said above is true and THEN some. He is one of the most unlikable characters i’ve seen in a film that wasn’t INTENDED to be. There’s just NOTHING to like about him. Nothing. He treats his “Friends” like garbage, all four of them: He basically ignores shaggy and scooby at best and treats them as if they were nothing. For Velma he’s your classic power abusing douche who pushes her to the side and often steals the credit for things she did. He’s still a good mystery solver, but he acts like he does all the work to the press and takes all the credit when Velma works as hard as he does if not harder. And worst of all is Daphne, who he basically either treats like some moron who gets kidnapped due to incompetence and not because creepy old dudes want to feel her up, which given the intro is VERY likely the reason she’s the resident victim of the group, and not like a person, or like a pair of boobs and legs he wants to bang or feel up creepily while he’s in her body. For fuck’s sake his reaction to finding out he’s in her body is a creepy and smug “I can see myself naaaakeddd” If that dosen’t make you want to smack him get off my blog. And they get together in the end!
Tumblr media
Who who wanted that. I genuinely want the presumibly original ending where Daphne and Velma hook up and Fred falls off a pier and is never seen again. The acting does not help. While the other four gang members are expertly cast Fred was given to Freddy Prinze Junior, who made a career out of playing arrogant dicks who are somehow the main character so I can’t fault the casting but I can fault that he can’t delver any line without that smug air of trying to be cool douche and it’s at it’s worst with Fred since Fred’s already written as the biggest creepiest douche in the world and Freddy somehow makes it WORSE. He also has zero chemstiry with Daphne, which would be weird given he and Sarah Michelle Gellar had dated for 2 years at this point and as of this writing have been together for 20 overall and have two wonderful kids together... but given how badly written Fred is here, I can’t blame either of them. And i’m sure FPJ is a swell guy, loves his kids loves his wife seems like a really plesant guy, nothing against him as a person, but at least at this point in his career he wasn’t very good. And I am actually planning on trying to seek out one of his later works in his career to see if he’s gotten better in recent years, and willing to give him the benifit of a doubt that he probably has. I just don’t like him here, and while the script does most of the work he only makes it worse. And works before this (Pup Named Scooby Doo) and after this (Mystery Incorperated) would prove you can give fred a personality that’s not dick tip, so fuck this character, fuck the writing.. and I hope Freddy is having a happy halloween with his loving wife and children, seriously I meant it I have nothing against him as a person. A terrible actor can still be a WONDERFUL guy.
Now that’s thankfully put to bed, let’s pivot over to Shaggy, whose easily the best of the cast. Matthew Lillard looks the part pefectly, has the right combination of heart and goofus and has some great comedic timing. Granted Scream had already proven the guy’s got genuine talent, but still he’s great here and is currently playing Shaggy in most films and productions, except Scoob which.. was far from it’s only mistake but easily the biggest. There’s not much else to say: the guy IS Shaggy and is the only person whose taken up the roll to equal Kasey Casem in it. As for how he’s written.. he’s basically the same and apart from one line of him wanting to leave everyone to their deaths, which feels like it was added later, he’s written really well and is easily the most likeable of the group.
Scooby is alright. Not the best version but funny and charming enough when he needs to be and while I hated the CGI at one point.. it’s honestly not that bad. It’s not GREAT, but time has actually been very good to it both in how it’s held up and in the fact we’ve gotten SO MUCH WORSE with so much better techlogies. I mean.. Cats exists.. Marmaduke Exists.. the Bill Murray Garfield exists. This was offputting at the time but now it’s just okay. But character wise he’s good and again not much diffrent.
Velma is the second best casting of the movie. Played by Linda Cardenelli, who i’ve harbored a crush on for a good few decades now and admire mostly for her talent and charm, Linda kills the roll and easily slips into it as easily as Matt did, and while not picking it up full time like he did, still did it a few times afterword and played hot dog water in mystery incorperated, so she did finally get to play a Lesbian Velma it just took a while. And while Velma being gay is kind of sterotyping, it would’ve been nice to have been kept in instead of edited out for bullshit reasons. But overal her character is decent: While she ALSO bullies and belittles daphne like fred, unlike fred it comes less from just being a douche and more from insecurity. As her scene at the bar makes clear she feels undervalued like the other, like the nerd who the cool kids LET hang out with them instead of part of the team. While it dosen’t make her treatment of Daphne OKAY, it makes Velma understandable. We also get Velma Clevage which.. okay not sure if the world needed that but whatever. Point is it’s throughly likeable portryal that I wish got some character growth.  Finally out of the main 5 there’s Daphne, whose alright. Not as good as the other two, as it feels they lean a bit too heavily on her having taken self defense and wanting ot be tougher, but Sarah Michelle Gellar gives her a ton of charm and likeablity that her husband’s character sadly lacks. There’s just a fun, adorable energy to daph that ends up coupling with her buffy style badassery at the end and Sarah plays both beautifully. The script didn’t give her a ton to work with, though that’s the same for all four of htem, but Sarah really made the character work and made her somewhat memorable despite not being as good as Linda or Matthew. Basically not the best, but still a comfortable third ahead of scooby doo and jackass jones.
As for the rest of the cast, Rowan Attkinson i’ve covered and is utterly fantastic as is the Voodoo Maestro, and both should get hteir own hbo max spinoff together. The minons.. stupid name and luchadoor are decent enough, nothign special but they have presence and do the job of goon well. And Mary Jane is alright.. the joke is WAY too on the nose to be funny and she’s mostly just there to be sweet, but she’s harmless. Not good but not bad.  So finally we have our big bad, Scrappy. And i’m.. mixed about this. On one hand, Scott Innes, who it turns out is also from Missouri good on you dude!, does a terrific job and I couldn’t tell it wasn’t don messick as Scrappy and he plays him as evil great. On the other.. it’s just kinda goofy. Out of all the tips of hte hat to scooby stuff this feels the most over the top. Scrappy was hated, including by james gunn.. so he’s the bad guy. It’s just a bit on the nose, and the twist is pretty easily teligraphed since Scrappy suspciously is mentioned in one scene so him showing up at all is pretty easy to see coming. It’s not terible but it’s not great. His demon minons also just suck.. the designs are wonky and their cgi, unlike scooby and scrappy’s, is just REALLY bad and dated, and even as a kid I never liked them.
FINAL THOUGHTS:  Scooby Doo is a decent but messy movie. The clashing tones, dated humor and godawful version of fred drag it down at times, and it’s very clear this had a lot of hands in the pot. But.. I still enjoy it. It’s not the best scooby ever, tha’ts mystery incorpeated, but it has great atmosphere, some good ideas, an utterly spectacular with one exception cast, and some really funny jokes. I genuinely feel the film is overhated when it’s a unique, weird and wonderful slice of Scooby. For better or worse there’s no other Scooby doo property quite like it, and that’s what makes it so fun. And it has enough good performances and jokes to smooth out the edges. It’s not the best, it’s a mess.. but sometimes a mess is fun and I like this flim for being a fun mess I can enjoy with my nieces and talk about to all of you. And sometimes that’s all you need.  Thank you for reading this. The fall solstice is only days from breaking over the Crimson City. Heat is a rare commodity to the residents of Chicago, so they part with it bitterly every year at the annual End-of-Summer Festival. The season goes out with a bang and the rumble of food trucks every summer as patrons waltz their way down the Chicago art walk, indulge in all things saucy and boozy at the Chicago Bourbon and BBQ Festival, get in touch with nature at the Chicago craft beer tasting at the zoo, and shop at the Chicago flea market littered with street merchants from all over the country. Of course, the real selling point every year is the annual Chicago bar crawl, which sweeps guests through Cook County’s best bars, like The Pint, Rousseau’s, Cataleya, Wolves and Skyfall Bar. To attract more customers, each bar, restaurant, and club—even what goes on behind—will be steeply discounted for the ultimate occasion.
And if you’re a little territorial, don’t sweat it—no metal detectors will be necessary at the End-of-Summer Festival. Who would want to ruin all this fun, anyway ?!
Part I of the End-of-Summer Festival begins at 7:15 P.M. CST and will conclude on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 at 7 P.M. CST. You may continue your non-event  threads through the event, however we ask you don’t post any starters unless they pertain to the event
Under the cut are plot slots you may claim for this event; just send your preferred slot to the main. Plots slots are a first come, first serve basis.
We’re going to allow each person to choose two plot slots for two characters max .If there are any leftovers, we’ll let members know when they can sign up for thirds. Please try to pick one pertaining to your character and plot with those that take the other spots.
You’ll notice that some of these plots are public, so feel free to have your character react to them/ notice them even if they aren’t happening directly to your character. However, if something feels like it happened privately to another character, please check in with their Mun to see if it’s okay for your character to know.
To be clear: these are not the only things that happen to your character during this plot drop and you are more than welcome to cook up your own trouble.
