hello! i really enjoy ur content and i read that ur requests are open, so is it okay if i can request something where levi and the reader had an argument, and the rest of the scouts are very aware of it because of the very cold and scary aura coming from them, and so the squad tries various ways to set them up so they can make up with another? thank you!!😁
a/n: ahh first of all thank you! second off, i love this idea omg 🙏 also the reader is another captain!!
levi x reader
“don’t die on me.”
cw: swearing, one kiss scene, mentions of death (barely)
The scouts immediately knew something was wrong when you entered the dining area. It was like there was a dark aura floating around your body that caused everyone within a 4 foot vicinity of you to scatter away like startled birds. Your eyebrows were furrowed and your back was hunched. You stalked into the room and sank down beside Hange who seemed rather unfazed by your cold attitude.
“Oi. Y/N. What’s up with the murderous look in your eye? I think you made the scouts shit themselves.” They chuckled, biting into their bread and looking at you with a hint of amusement twinkling in their eyes.
You lip twitched downward as you scoffed, “Ask shorty.”
Hange made a noise of surprise that you ignored, turning back to your food. You were not in the mood to be pestered. Picking at your food with distain, you tuned out the rest of the room. Due to this, you missed the short raven-haired man walking into the room with the same cold presence that you were amitting. You felt his eyes burning holes into your head but refused to look up, you didn’t wanna give that bastard the time of day.
Levi scoffed when you ignored him, grabbing his plate and settling down at the opposite end of your table. Hange nearly rolled their eyes at the pettiness the two of you were displaying.
Clearing their throat, the titan enthusiast spoke up, “Trouble in paradise?”
“Shut up.” You both countered in sync, still refusing to acknowledge eachother.
The two of you were too stubborn to admit that you were wrong. Maybe neither of you were in the wrong but after the shouting match that took place last night, you didn’t feel like immediately making amends. You had tried to express to Levi how scared you were that he was going to die on one of these missions, however your tone was quite harsh and Levi misread it. He took it as you not having faith in his abilities which was a punch to the gut for the stubborn Captain. He in return, argued that you were running the same risk on missions and since you weren’t nearly as strong as him, you had an even higher risk of getting hurt. Frustrated that he insulted your abilities and didn’t see your point, you stormed out of his office, slamming the door behind you.
The two of you hadn’t spoken since the blowup last night and it was now mid-afternoon the next day. You were in charge of training the scouts this afternoon and due to the anger boiling up inside of you, you put them through a particularly rigorous training course. All of them were clutching their sides and panting heavily when you finally dismissed them.
“Is it just me or does Captain Y/N seem a little harsh today?” Connie spoke up as he downed a glass of water.
“Yeah, that training course kicked my ass. I think they had a fight with Levi, I heard some of the soldiers talking about it.” Jean replied.
Sasha was quiet for a minute before she finally spoke up, “I have an idea!” She exclaimed with a mischievous glint in her eye.
“That’s not good.” Armin commented quietly.
Later that night, Sasha had cornered you and told you there was scary noises coming from a broom closet and had asked for help checking it out. You reluctantly agreed, only because it was getting late and you wanted to get to bed. The two of you went to the closet, footsteps echoing across the quiet halls.
Entering the small room, you spoke, “Hmm. Sasha there’s nothing in here, are you sure-.” You got cut off due to the door being slammed in your face and locked shut.
Jiggling the handle aggressively, you yelled, “Sasha Braus I swear to god, if you don’t let me out of here it’s no bread for a week!”
Sasha gulped but stayed strong, hoping Armin was on his way with Levi. Ten minutes later, Armin showed up... without Levi. Sasha’s eyes nearly popped out of her head, “Armin, where the hell is Levi?!”
Armin scratched the back of his neck, “He wouldn’t come. Said I should ‘get some balls and go look at the noise by myself’.”
Sasha sheepishly opened the door to a very angry Captain, crying as you yelled and told her she wasn’t getting bread for a week. You’d almost felt bad if it weren’t for the fact that several spiders decided to crawl up your leg while you were trapped inside the miserable closest.
The next day, you were in an even worse mood because of the broom closet accident. So, the scouts went back to planning the reunion of their two grumpy captains.
The new plan consisted of getting the two of you within ten feet of each other, which proved difficult. Eren and Jean would both ask for combat training from the two of you and hoped that maybe being close to each other would spark a conversation between you two.
However, the plan backfired when seeing eachother made the two of you even angrier so you both fought the boys aggressively which resulted in Jean and Eren laying on their asses as the two of you stalked off in seperate directions.
You were quite grumpy at this point, snapping at the smallest things and taking things out on the wrong people. You knew it was wrong but you couldn’t help it; it felt like everyone was trying to piss you off.
By now, Hange had grown tired of you and Levi’s negative energy and the beat-up scouts. So finally, they decided to step in.
They found you in your office working on paperwork and quickly grabbed your hand, rudely dragging you away from your work.
“What the hell Hange!” You exclaimed, trying to turn back to your work but Hange had a suprisingly strong grip.
“Sorry! But I need to show you this thing I’ve been working on. It’s urgent!” They explained as they pulled you through the halls. They stopped in front of a random room, opening the door and shoving you in.
“Oi, four eyes, where is the ‘urgent thing’ you needed to show me?” You gasped as you realized Levi was in the room that Hange had just thrown you into.
Levi’s eyes widened when he noticed you in the room and he started shaking his head, “Don’t you dare Hange-.”
SLAM.
Hange locked the door, leaving the two of you sitting alone in your tension. The silence was heavy as you avoided eye contact, plotting the many ways you could get back at the scientist for this later. You were so caught up in your own thoughts you didn’t even realize Levi was staring at you till he spoke up.
“Do you ever plan to let us talk this out or are you just gonna be an angry brat for the rest of your life?” His tone was cold.
Your eyes snapped up to meet his grey ones, searching them for any emotion but you were met with nothing, his walls were up. “What is there to talk about? You made it clear how you feel.”
“How I feel?” He questioned.
“That I’m not strong enough for you. Maybe I’m not humanity’s strongest but I’m talented and that deserves to be recognized. I’m not gonna let you shit on my talent just because I hurt your ego. Which by the way, I don’t even know why you thought I was attacking your skills. I just want you to be safe and I don’t know why you can’t just- MHPM.” Your rant was cut off midway by the feeling of warm lips against yours.
You froze for a moment before returning the kiss, running your hands up into his hair and opening your mouth to deepen the kiss. Levi’s hands snaked around you waist, pulling you tight against his chest. This continued for a few more seconds before you pulled away, cheeks flushed and lips swollen.
Levi spoke up, “I know you’re a talented soldier, it’s something I really respect about you. I shouldn’t have phrased it the way I did, I just... I don’t want to lose you. So, I want you to be the best because then, my chances of loosing you are less.” You looked at him in shock.
His grey eyes showed love and ... fear. The fear of loosing you like he’d lost so many. Your chest tightened at the sight. Tears pricked in your eyes as you pulled him into another hug.
“You don’t have to worry about me, okay? I’m gonna fight with everything I got to make sure I come home to you. You just make sure you do the same, don’t go dying on me.” Your speech was slightly muffled by his shirt but he nodded nonetheless.
“Yay! The lovebirds finally made up! Good! I was worried you were gonna kill the scouts.” Hange laughed from the other side of the now opened door.
a/n: this ain’t the greatest but i wrote it at midnight so yk 😐👋

yizhan fic rec (2)
part 1
glute bridges by sunstainedsheets
[explicit, 29k, complete]
personal trainer and dancer yibo and graphic designer xiao zhan. GYM AU omg i love this. xiao zhan signs up for a gym membership and personal training sessions where he’s totally not ogling his coach. there’s also a scene with xiao zhan attempting to converse with yibo in korean that got me cackling lmao, our resident koreaboo indeed. it was also great to see mentor yibo here, it reminded me of his prod 101 days when he was so intimidating as a mentor, also... very sexy. anyway i adore this, they’re just thirsting over each other, especially yibo checking out the zhass, it’s okay bobo we’ve all been there
i’d wear gucci for you by Anonymous
[teen and up, 16k, complete]
abo au where alpha yibo and omega xiao zhan are photographed going into xiao zhan’s apartment together so they’re forced to pretend that they’re mated to prevent a scandal. this has become my favourite fics because i’m an absolute sucker for fake/pretend relationships and the way the writer incorporated canon stuff like yibo answering interview questions for xiao zhan ugh guys i love this fic. when yibo was so exasperated near the end and said “i’m wearing gucci for you” & waving his hand i really lost it. JUST READ THIS I PROMISE IT’S A GOOD READ
if you would only let you by gdgdbaby
[explicit, 32k, complete]
ah where do i even start with this one? xiao zhan gets drunk and texts yibo, yibo shows up at his house and whisks him away on a road trip. i felt so much emotions reading this fic, everything was so raw and it really deals with the pressures of being famous and homophobia. this is a super realistic fic and there’s a lot of emotional hurt/comfort, you’ll literally end up wanting to wrap these two in a big blanket and just protect them from the world (lol like we don’t already want to do that). my absolute favourite part was the confession scene, like it was so messy and funny, and it’s just so them, especially the pokemon part lmao. this art is based on that scene and it’s exactly how i imagined it 🥺 this is just so well written and it’s one of my favs!
love in the time of coding by theivoryflute
[explicit, 26k, complete]
hacker yibo and cyber security engineer xiao zhan. yibo cyber flirts with xiao zhan and also flirts with him in real life. *SCREAMS* i never thought we’d have a hacker au in the fandom but i’ve been blessed, this was literally the cutest online romance fic with a bunch of mutual pining. my favourite dialogue is “the whiplash from wanting to ride yibo to wanting to coddle him was severe” i’m literally wheezing, this is a perfect representation of the fandom, also the usernames that yibo picked got me cackling there’s one in particular that made me laugh, you’ll know what it is when you see it so go read this gem!

my favourite writer is back again with this baby! idol dance captain xiao zhan and non-famous dancer yibo!!! ARE WE KIDDING? slow burn sdoc au? I’M SO IN WTF. guys listen to me. yibo has a low ponytail and arm tattoos *goes feral* one of my favourite scenes from this fic is when xiao zhan had to convince yibo to join his team (bro. he didn’t even have to try) because yibo says “no, Xiao-laoshi. I would of course never leave you.” i’m screeching, totally gave me tgcf hua cheng vibes. my absolute favourite scene, however, is when yibo says xiao zhan doesn’t have to worry about sending him home because he’s going to win everything... like... the sheer bde this man exudes in real life and fiction... very sexy of him. i also love how this showcases how well they work together and of course the *whispers* celebratory sex!
Hyacinth by stickyriceu
[explicit, 76k, complete]
racer yibo celebrates after a competition and meets hyacinth’s number one host, zhan-er. slow burn with LOTS of pining and angst. i finished this in one sitting and i’m still screaming over it, it’s so good!!! genuinely felt my soul leave my body reading this because zhan zhan with shoulder length hair? tied up in a messy bun? *SCREECHES* everyone go read and get your angst on, don’t worry, there’s a happy ending ;)

golden hour by Deinde
[explicit, 35k, complete]
professional snowboarder yibo teaches actor xiao zhan how to snowboard in a show! OH MY GOD THIS WAS SO GOOD *SCREAMS* it’s literally just them flirting and being absolutely thirsty for each other, especially in the photoshoot scene dear lord. i’m so annoying, this fic tab has been open in my safari for forever and i forgot about it until i watched ddu’s snow sports episode so don’t do the same thing as me and go! read! this! fic! immediately!

Melting. also there’s a proposal. it’s unromantic but still so romantic, i love it. i also saw this art and i think this would be how they look in the fic

Hey, I saw your post about a head canon world where Lotor becomes the black Paladin, and it made me wonder how you feel about a different head canon, one that I personally don’t really have but find very interesting- the head canon of Lotor as a Blade of Marmora agent. How do you think that would change the plot of Voltron, and what do you think would happen with that? Just curious.
P.S. When’s the next chapter of Adrenaline Rush coming out? I love it so much and I’m at the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens-
Hi, anon. Thanks for the note! I’ve definitely thought about Lotor as a Blade before, and a while back last year, I posted a little drabble called The Awakening introducing that plot bunny. You can read it here as well as access links for other BOM Lotor stories!
Outside of that drabble, I do think transitioning Lotor to be a Blade pretty heavily shifts VLD. There’s probably a million interesting ways a person could write such a VLD AU, but I guess my initial thoughts would be something like this (heads up, this is a monster outline for a whole series rewrite):
After the disastrous end of the mining colony, Zarkon doesn’t just exile Lotor. He imprisons Lotor with the idea that Lotor either submit to “remedial training” or death.
When Lotor chooses death over kneeling before his father again, the Blades are convinced that Lotor is in fact truly different from Zarkon. Kolivan moves in to save him, offering him a secondary life in the shadows as an operative.
Lotor rises to the rank of Lieutenant within the BOM and helps establish a surviving Altean colony. In doing so, he discovers the legends of Oriande. He spends his time convincing the Blades that there is deeper knowledge of the universe they could use to defeat Zarkon and his witch.
The Blades share that they are aware at least Blue Lion survived the destruction of Altea, and they suspect that more Lions still exist. Kolivan orders Lotor to stand down from pursuing Oriande in favor of uncovering the location of the remaining lions.
Lotor ends up working with Krolia to better understand how she came to find the Blue Lion on Earth. He grows to see her as something of a mother figure or role model and is aware that she had to leave behind a mixed-race son of her own to ensure the war would never reach Keith.
Lotor warns that the pull to know one’s own heritage is significant, and that her half-human son will likely go to dangerous lengths to know the truth, especially if his more Galran attributes arise.
Krolia assures that her son’s father would keep the truth a secret and that Keith had no known signs of Galran blood.
Krolia missed that her son could sense things a normal human couldn’t.
All of that would be background information to be revealed in time.
VLD s1 would still pick up with Keith sensing the energy of the Blue Lion.
Lotor has by this time identified the location of the Red Lion, also following legends of a Lion Goddess upon Arus to suspect that perhaps more may exist on that planet. But Sendak has also picked up coordinates for the Red Lion.
Kolivan orders Lotor to stay hidden and send out squadrons to extract Red Lion, only for the extraction to fail and for the Red Lion to fall officially into Sendak’s hands.
At this time, Shiro crash-lands back on Earth. Sendak’s squadrons were also trailing his escape. The witch Haggar turns her eye to Earth and senses ancient power—the Blue Lion.
Kolivan is at a crossroads to determine next best steps. Lotor convinces him that it’s better to let Red Lion go temporarily than to lose even more to Sendak. Lotor argues that an elite squadron be sent to Earth to extract Blue Lion, and that he receive approval to pursue his lead for a possible lion on Arus.
Kolivan approves Lotor’s plan and realigns assets to Earth and to Lotor’s extraction team. Some Blades on Lotor’s extraction team are in fact Alteans and other survivors of other planets they have rescued over the years. Backup teams suit up for battle.
Krolia volunteers to lead the Earth squadron. She fears that her son and his people may be in danger.
Hunk, Pidge, and Lance follow Keith and Shiro to the Blue Lion. But at this time, the Galra have already discovered the Blue Lion. Krolia is desperately attempting to fend them off, but the Galra had taken out several of her squadron members, and she herself is injured.
The Galaxy Garrison recognizes that alien squadrons have landed on Earth, endangering several cities with their warfare. In fear that Earth is under invasion, they activate various militarized assets to contain the problem and capture any aliens, dead or alive.
Keith, Shiro, Pidge, Hunk, and Lance all panic, realizing they’re about to be caught in an alien war, the firepower of their trigger-happy superiors, and the biggest national security breach in human history.
Krolia meanwhile, desperate, tosses some weapons over to the humans and begs for their help. She tells them that keeping this Blue Lion out of the hands of Emperor Zarkon is imperative to universal safety.
Keith and Shiro move in to assist Krolia. Pidge is trying to contact Galaxy Garrison about the situation, panicking in an attempt to explain that not everyone in the fire zone is an enemy. Hunk is hesitantly like, “Is this a real thing? Am I actually seeing aliens right now? Omg, is this actually a weapon? I don’t think I’m trained for this!” And Lance meanwhile is distracted. He’s sensing Blue Lion, and it’s responding to him, because out of everyone, he’s the only with the tenacity to actually get in this thing and fly it out of harm’s way.
Shiro realizes if they don’t get Krolia and her team out, the Garrison might not be so kind to her either. Once he sees Lance is able to operate controls, he agrees best thing to do is to get Blue Lion off Earth entirely.
The instant Krolia gets a good look at Keith, she realizes that he is her son and panics when she realizes she willingly begged for this boy to get involved in the battle.
Long story short, the future paladins + Krolia and the surviving Blades operatives escape through a wormhole using Blue Lion, which takes them back to the Castle of Lions on Arus. They narrowly escape both death at the hands of Galra and capture by Galaxy Garrison.
Galaxy Garrison is blaring alarms that Earth has experienced what appears to be its first true alien invasion. It recognizes that several cadets were caught up in the crossfire. They assume those cadets and Shiro to be Missing In Action and feared dead. Earth leaders convene to discuss defense strategies, in fear that this will not be the end.
Meanwhile, Lotor has already landed on Planet Arus with his team. But he soon realizes that this isn’t just the location of the Castle of Lions—it’s also housing the Black Lion’s energy force and the long-lost Princess Allura, the “Lion Goddess” that Arusians had seen through the glass of her pod.
Lotor makes the decision to wake up the princess and her Altean advisor, Coran. In fear that he would scare them as a Galran, he keeps his face mask on. He begs the princess to fly the ship to safety, as he does not know how to use a teladuv but understands what they are.
Princess Allura is very confused for a time, demanding to know who he is and what exactly is going on.
Sendak hears from Haggar that she senses new energy on Arus.
Lotor is distracted, attempting to reach Krolia and strategize a full, double-wormhole back to BOM headquarters with the Castle and Blue Lion in tow. The fight on Earth temporarily distracted Sendak, but with Blue Lion gone, Sendak is now racing his way back to the Castle’s position. Time is very limited.
Lotor stumbles a bit at the sight of Allura, who is very beautiful.
Coran is flailing about that Alfor’s plan to hide the lions is ruined—
At this time, the paladins + Krolia and team land on Arus via wormhole.
Keith is helping his mother to rush into the Castle of Lions for cover, as she is still injured.
Princess Allura is beginning to realize that Altea had been completely destroyed, and she is very distraught that Emperor Zarkon has become an unstoppable tyrant, killing and enslaving millions.
Lotor kneels down beside her and convinces her that if she can operate the castle for just a very short time, then they can save the entire galaxy and take back a Lion from Zarkon, together.
The princess senses his goodwill and agrees, pulling herself together. She admits she knows where the other lions are, as Alfor had tied her life-force to all of the Lions.
Allura is surprised to realize that Blue Lion is just outside.
Lotor’s squadron guides the paladins and company into the heart of the Castle. Princess Allura is surprised again to discover that a human named Lance had bonded with the Blue Lion so easily. She begins to search out the bond ties of the other lions and realizes they are attempting to sort through options for new paladins.
Allura helps Keith with placing Krolia in a healing pod. She senses the energy between them is quite similar, and that they are perhaps related.
The Blue Lion and other Lions communicate to Allura that they need a fresh team that can function as one immediately. A team with new perspectives, a desire to protect, and without the painful history or conflicts of interest that resulted in Alfor’s leniency with Zarkon. They hone in on the humans, and Allura sees their auras as clearly aligned with their respective lions.
She communicates to the larger team that they are in desperate need of paladins for the other lions—and that the lions have chosen these humans who were willing to defend Blue and their home world.
Lotor hesitates, having had plans for those lions that didn’t involve humans. But he acknowledges that alchemical magic is above his understanding. He glances over at Keith, catching that his scent is similar to Krolia’s—and that his prophecy of a family reunion has come true in the strangest of ways.
Princess Allura quickly sets to revealing the location of the other lions and activating wormholes for them to retrieve them.
Meanwhile, the Castle has experienced 10,000 years of rust and degradation of lesser systems. Coran and Lotor team up to fix the particle barrier, anticipating that they may need to provide backup for the new paladins. Coran and Lotor bicker over many things, and Coran warns that he can see Lotor making cow eyes at the princess even beneath his mask. Lotor vehemently denies it.
Krolia, stubbornly moving her way out of a healing pod, pleads with Allura that Keith not be chosen to pilot Red Lion—that he might find a way to go back and be safe with his father.
Allura apologizes that she is not in control of the lions and that they choose their paladins. “If Red Lion chose your son, it is because Keith can save the universe. That it’s his destiny to be a part of this fight with us.” But Allura is unsettled too, as she’s actively trying to test systems with Coran and this mysterious, masked Blade whose name she doesn’t even know yet, except that his title is Lieutenant. Meanwhile, she’s also trying to keep the wormholes open for the paladins.
The new paladins return in time for the arrival of Sendak, who still has Red Lion in his grasp.
The newly minted Team Voltron make a stand with the lions they have available to reclaim Red Lion and activate Black Lion.
The BOM forces assist in the overtake and attempt to suppress the battle from affecting locals on the planet of Arus.
Lotor realizes that Keith is in significant trouble, as Sendak is moving in protect Red Lion himself. Lotor runs to activate his own ship as backup, knowing Sendak’s fighting weaknesses.
The battle ends up with Keith struggling to connect with Red Lion while Lotor fights off Sendak.
Sendak manages to knock Lotor’s face mask loose and startles in surprise to see Zarkon’s supposedly dead son.
Lotor uses the moment of surprise to critically injure Sendak, escaping up to the Red Lion that Keith has taken command of.
All lions and teams retreat back to the Castle of Lions, which wormholes out before Sendak’s forces can catch them.
Sendak haltingly conveys to Emperor Zarkon that his son yet lives, fighting in the armor of an unknown rebel group.
Zarkon whips into a rage that his darkest shame is still alive and fighting against him.
The witch, Haggar, promises to end Lotor’s life once and for all, and to reclaim the lions for Zarkon’s glory.
Team Voltron meanwhile celebrates their first win in a panic-relief that they were able to form Voltron.
Various Blade operatives take off their masks. Some are revealed to be Alteans, including a grown Bandor and Romelle who were rescued long ago and now fight as part of Lotor’s squadron. Princess Allura and Coran are comforted greatly to know that many Alteans yet live, and that there is a colony where juniberries grow too.
Princess Allura still wants to know who the mysterious Lieutenant is who woke her up and managed to fight off Sendak.
Bandor, a big Lotor fan, nearly breaks the truth that “Lieutenant Lotor is—” and Romelle nudges him to be quiet, interjecting that their lieutenant is a very private person and that no one knows much about him.
Meanwhile, Kolivan is incredibly unhappy that Lotor has revealed himself on an active battle field.
Lotor argues that he did it to protect Krolia’s son, who was chosen to be the paladin of Red Lion—and isn’t that the more important objective?
Kolivan reassigns Krolia immediately to ensure that her ties to Keith do not interfere with Keith’s new mission. Keith still doesn’t know Krolia is his mother.
Kolivan then grounds Lotor from engaging in an active battle again, and admits that it is best if Lotor remain with Team Voltron in his own stylized armor.
Lotor asks if this is a demotion for insubordination.
Kolivan hesitates and says it’s possibly a promotion, if he can help to keep these human children alive long enough to save the universe. If all goes well, then the Blades will back Lotor’s bid at the resulting Kral Zera after Zarkon’s defeat.
Lotor hesitates, then adds, “And my secondary mission, to search for Oriande?”
“…Approved.”
Lotor then asks if it’s in fact cruel to hide from Keith that Krolia is his mother, but Kolivan convinces him that sometimes, the consequences of knowing outweigh the consequences of ignorance.
Kolivan knows that Haggar is Lotor’s true mother, but corrupted.
He fears what Lotor might do with that information.
Lotor, meanwhile, designs new armor for himself that is separate from that of the Blades.
He appears to Princess Allura, offering to help train the new paladins in the art of war if she can assist them with the spiritual aspects of connecting with Voltron.
Princess Allura accepts, but corrects him to say that she knows quite a bit about the art of war, thank you very much.
He searches her curiously and asks to see what she can do—as it is imperative she remain battle-ready herself.
The princess very casually grabs for his own sword and holds it to his throat, in a challenge for a duel.
Lotor’s lips split wide in a smile of delight. He likes this princess and her spirit.
He discovers that the princess really can hold her own, and it’s at that point he realizes he will struggle to remain objective about her in his missions.
Allura is not entirely unaffected either, fighting to maintain a level of professionalism around him.
At some point, Lotor’s cat Kova sneaks in from Lotor’s ship to the Castle of Lions. Kova is a lazy, happy cat who likes to hold a mouse in his mouth but doesn’t actually try to eat it. Princess Allura’s mice get used to be carried around in this way. Chulatt often rides atop Kova’s head.
Kova is something of a therapy cat for the whole team. He likes lots of scritches and the way Pidge rubs his belly. He often steals Hunk’s burritos and sleeps on Allura’s comfy pillow when she is busy.
Dayak, Lotor’s old governess, hears through the grapevine of Galra High Command that Lotor is in fact still alive. Kolivan and other Blade operatives track her, debating if she could possibly be turned to their side. They believe she can be a very valuable asset for future missions.
Meanwhile, it’s been a long time since Lotor had to train children.
The Castle of Lions still ends up with everyone in a food goo fight at least twice.
Shiro is suffering significant PTSD, and the reality is that this is something Lotor fights as well from his time under his father’s command. He tries to help when he can and forms a deep bond with Shiro too.
Lotor mother-hens the paladins because he made a promise to Krolia that he would keep her child safe, but soon, they all worm their way into his heart. He feels very protective of them, and of the princess, who has not yet had the opportunity even to see the colony of her people, safely tucked away in the Quantum Abyss.
Lotor activates Romelle and Bandor for their assistance in tracking down leads on the existence of Oriande or other helpful relics worth having or keeping out of the witch’s hands. Allura argues that Oriande is just a fairy tale, and Lotor argues in return that Alfor simply had to have advanced knowledge to build Voltron as he did. He begs Allura to at least be open to the possibility that more exists about Altean heritage than she ever thought possible.
Allura pauses, then quietly confesses that she is quite sure she’ll never be the alchemist her father was. That he had a gift no one else had ever seen.
Lotor grows impassioned to say that neither of them have to be limited by what their fathers did or accomplished. That they can be so much more, something different—he can feel it. He gets a little too close in saying this. Coran jumps in, noticing that Lotor’s usual strong command of Altean etiquette slips when around Allura.
In thanks for listening, Allura leaves a little juniberry flower for Lotor.
He spins it in his fingers, face in a flush over what it could mean. But he tries to stifle his emotions, knowing that the Princess of Altea would not accept an exiled son of Zarkon in such a way.
Occasionally, Lotor feels like Black Lion is watching him. He can’t tell if it’s because he’s paranoid, or if it’s because Black Lion actually knows his true parentage. He struggles to be in the same space as it, often unsettled.
Princess Allura and Shiro both notice this.
Meanwhile, Haggar uses a significant barrage of robeasts to distract Voltron while she completes building the Komar and perfecting other means of quintessence manipulation.
Haggar convinces Zarkon that Lotor is better to them alive than dead, and that if they could simply capture him again for a short time, she could turn him into Zarkon’s most loyal soldier, and undo Voltron’s advantages from the inside out.
Zarkon hesitantly approves. He demands that Lotor still be killed immediately upon fulfilling such a role, as Lotor would no doubt attempt to dethrone him.
Meanwhile, Princess Allura often catches Lotor reading up voraciously in the library of the Castle of Lions while the paladins complete their assigned training. At first, she thinks this activity has to do with Lotor’s fixation on the legend of Oriande. But then she catches him reading a book about Altean cuisines and asking for Hunk’s help in reproducing them—and she starts to suspect that Lotor’s not entirely Galran.
Occasionally, Lotor assists in BOM side-work, whether it’s breaking from the paladins to assist on an Oriande lead or helping Kolivan to unravel Galran records and codes.
Lotor has incredibly strong opinions about modulation.
Lotor is also very good at acting as a representative while Earth flails over getting in contact with its lost cadets and aliens.
He remains in communication with Krolia often, reporting on Keith’s progress. But Keith is starting to ask questions as well, about how the dagger he found in his father’s stuff one day has the same exact symbol as that of the Blades.
Krolia helps to continue funnel lost people of mixed heritage toward the Blades. As Team Voltron grows more confident in their abilities, Lotor is called away to help train new recruits named Acxa, Zethrid, Narti, and Ezor.
Keith joins along briefly because he wants to learn more about the Blades themselves and why his father would have a Blade dagger.
Lotor discusses Keith’s application for the Blades with Shiro, who tentatively agrees that training with the Blades could be a good way to start ramping Keith up with leadership skills and advanced tactical knowledge. Lotor agrees that the boy is more capable than what his mother would allow him to be.
Shiro was trained to always have a line of command in place in case someone falls. He knows he could very well fall, and Keith as his right-hand is the most worthy in the group to take on the mantle of Black Lion in that case.
Lotor and the Blades agree to train Keith as a Blade, in preparation for a future where Shiro might not be able to fulfill his duties.
Keith sees this as a serious honor and doesn’t want to screw it up.
Meanwhile, Princess Allura discovers a journal from her father, with one of the final notes mentioning that Zarkon had declared he was to have a son soon, and that his chosen name would be Lotor—his day of birth to be on the fourth quintant of the 11th phoebe.
Allura shakily realizes that Lotor’s eyes are Zarkon’s eyes even if they are blue. She keeps her discovery to herself, in surprise that Lotor had so firmly denied his father, and out of respect that he has not willingly shared this history.
Meanwhile, Lotor keeps eyeing the Black Lion, then Shiro, wondering exactly why Shiro is so insistent about a replacement.
Shiro hesitantly admits that Black Lion has started sending him visions—that something is wrong on the astral plane, and that it will likely take everything Shiro has to burn it out.
Lotor, fearful, goes to Allura and demands to understand more about the Black Lion, admitting that he’s felt watched by it.
Allura hesitates to admit the old history that Black Lion was once piloted by Zarkon, but that it should not be affecting Shiro’s connection with the lion…unless Zarkon were still somehow connected.
Lotor recalls that Shiro was missing his bayard—that this could be significant if it were still in Zarkon’s hands.
Cue a wild crash of shenanigans involving Haggar crashing in with Komar to drain Voltron while Zarkon attacks the Black Lion to take it over, while various forces of Sendak hone in on Lotor as an asset to capture for Haggar’s experimentation.
In the insanity, Lotor is captured.
Princess Allura, fearful that her team is breaking apart, unleashes a level of alchemical power that digs deep into her connection with Voltron and far outpaces any retaliation Haggar was expecting.
The Komar powers down, and Zarkon loses his connection to Black Lion, with Shiro overpowering him.
Haggar digs deep into Lotor’s mind, attempting to plant a dark entity within him. She extracts memories of his attempts to find Oriande.
Lotor might not have magical abilities, but his cheeks begin to glow with his Altean marks as he concentrates deeply on Blade and Altean practices for preserving the mind. But Haggar is relentless, and evermore curious about his marks.
He realizes he might have to die to protect Oriande and Team Voltron, in the way some Blades have gone before to protect the whole.
His fears do not pan out, as Team Voltron and Allura rescue Lotor from imprisonment, with help from the Blades. Allura is carrying Lotor out as the paladins provide cover. Zarkon is roaring that he will ensure his son dies the worst death possible for his treason.
Lotor is genuinely shaken for the first time since the Blades recovered him from Zarkon all those years ago. His secret is out for the whole of Team Voltron. Allura tries to comfort him that it’s alright, and that they would never leave him behind.
He looks up, and Allura confirms that she knows and accepted that he’s a son of Zarkon a long time ago, and that if he ever tries to kill himself again, she’ll kill him herself. She embraces him.
He as an emotional moment because she is the first outside the Blades to accept him upon discovering his parentage.
Meanwhile, Shiro regains the black bayard in a sneaky trick beneath Zarkon’s nose, cutting off any of Zarkon’s remaining connection to Black Lion. But the team discovers in their retreat that Haggar has all the pure quintessence it’d harvested from Voltron—and that she hasn’t used it yet. Pidge also had hacked into the mainframe to discover that the Galra had located a transreallity comet.
During the breach into Zarkon’s flagship, Bandor and Romelle stole what they could of Haggar’s things, to keep power out of her hands. They grabbed a strange stone as part of their loot.
Cue another stream of shenanigans where Team Voltron attempts to keep the comet out of Galran hands unsuccessfully. But in the midst of that defeat, Allura and Lotor discover that the item found by Bandor and Romelle provides a map directly to Oriande.
Plot twist that Haggar had still managed to possess at least Kova and use his eyes to access insight into Team Voltron’s movements. She sees Oriande’s location and leaves for it immediately.
It’s Narti who senses something is deeply wrong with Kova and tries to alert the team.
They realize too late that Haggar has probably already reached Oriande.
They desperately wormhole to reach it, while keep Kova locked up, which is a painful thing for Lotor but necessary. Allura promises that she’ll help find a way to purge Kova of Haggar’s influence.
Lotor’s Altean marks light up just as Allura’s do as they reach Oriande.
Upon arriving at Oriande, the landscape has been corrupted entirely by Haggar. Its defense systems had degenerated over the years since no one had visited in over 10,000 years to bond with the larger life force keeping it intact. Because Haggar infused it with her own life force, it took on her personality and interests.
The White Lion is glitchy, sending both Lotor and Allura in circles around the island.
Allura and Lotor both see unnatural visions and experience harrowing dangers in an attempt to reach the summit with the temple.
Allura isn’t sure that she can gain anything from Oriande if it is so truly corrupt by Haggar. Lotor tells her that he trusts her ability to see through all things, and to discover something that could end the witch’s reign.
Oriande is haunted by phantom beasts.
Lotor chooses to remain behind to fight off those beasts while Allura climbs into the decayed temple and completes the mission. The glitchy white lion is watching him and struggles in some way to assist Lotor before its power wanes. Lotor mourns its loss as a valuable fighting partner, even if it glitched at odd times.
Allura discovers the art of healing and of infusing objects with power, but she also discovers that at the heart of Oriande, Haggar had left an imprint of some of her own self behind.
Allura realizes with a startle that she sees some of Honerva of Altea’s own memories mixed in with Haggar’s imprint. She realizes quickly that Honerva was Lotor’s true mother, 10,000 years ago.
Meanwhile, Krolia has appeared alongside various other squadrons of the Blades, in an attempt to help Voltron hold off increasing numbers of Galran forces from attempting to enter the white hole entrance of Oriande, which has gone dark.
Krolia sees Red Lion take a critical hit. She breaks rank to place herself directly in front of Keith, to protect him while he recalibrates.
In doing so, she reveals that she is so proud of what he’s capable of doing—but that he still needs to learn to watch his six.
Keith is surprised for a few ticks, but then moves to help protect Krolia too, saying that he has a lot of questions when this battle is over, like why she mothers over him so much.
Krolia cannot believe her son is actually this oblivious since she’s been trying to send him messages that she is his mother, but she agrees to talk.
Haggar has at this time returned to Zarkon’s flagship, infusing it with alchemy and the pure quintessence, coaxing the transreality comet to do her bidding to melt into molten ore and cover the flagship. This converts it to a massive transreality mecha, with Zarkon at the helm.
Voltron is at a disadvantage against the much larger, much stronger mecha.
Allura, in a last-ditch desperation, drops her hand to Oriande and activates its stone, begging Oriande to respond to her need for a second defender. The temples begin to adjust. She realizes that because Lotor had subconsciously infused part of himself in Oriande too, the resulting mecha is actually of his own design—Sincline.
The interface is slightly glitchy from Haggar, and Lotor affectionately calls it the White Lion, sensing that his friend is still somewhere in the stone. And even deeper, he senses the memories of all the Alteans who’d infused their lives into stone—resulting in him feeling a few uncorrupted memories from Honerva, before she became Haggar.
He isn’t quite sure what to do with that, but shoves the emotions down for now.
Allura and Lotor pilot the mecha out of Oriande. Because the stones are connected to the Life Givers and the Ones Who Came Before, it is interdimensional in a way the other mechas are not, even if it cannot take a heavy hit. Their addition levels the playing field
Zarkon accesses the quintessence field, discovering he can do so, and Voltron quickly follows behind.
Lotor and Allura follow to stabilize the rift before it can upset the space-time continuum, calling upon the Life Givers for help in holding the threads of the universe together.
Team Voltron manages to successfully beat back Zarkon within the quintessence field, with Allura and Lotor using Zarkon’s own energy against him in a moment of distraction.
The distraction happens because the rift creatures possessing him realize that they are back in their natural universe.
The rift creatures call in their buddies, who begin to cannibalize the great source of power in Zarkon’s mecha.
The paladins take the opportunity to fry Zarkon out of existence, taking a large chunk of rift creatures with him.
Meanwhile, Haggar is on a small ship trying to escape in the regular universe, slipping between Galran factions and Blade squadrons.
Team Voltron return and pick her up before she can run away.
The battle ceases without Zarkon to provide orders—Sendak orders a full retreat upon seeing Voltron return without Zarkon.
Post-battle, Allura performs something completely novel with quintessence. After being in the rift, she realizes she can see different motivations within quintessence. In doing so, she searches out Kova and purifies his mind of dark alchemy. Then she goes to the imprisoned Haggar and purifies out the rift creatures possessing her, who disappear on the material plane the instant they are outside a host body.
Honerva wakes up, fully confused and largely unaware of what she’s done or how much time has passed. She is very convinced that she should be pregnant with a son named Lotor, and that she needs quintessence to stabilize her pregnancy.
It takes Honerva quite some time to realize that it’s been 10,000 years, and a grown Blade named Lotor is in fact her true son.
Lotor is very hesitant with her but sees she was not in control as Haggar. He still can’t look at her. Honerva promises to find some way to make up for her past.
Allura gets to see the Altean colony, returning Honerva to it in hopes that maybe a larger group and some normality could help her recalibrate and reconnect somehow. Bandor oddly takes pity on her, his parents having died long ago. Lotor cautions to Romelle to keep an eye out on his mother, and Romelle promises she will do so.
Allura works with several others to heal and rebuild Oriande to its former glory, as a place of open learning for any who have a deep enough spiritual connection with reality to grasp its secrets. She realizes that most things in Oriande appear as gibberish otherwise to the unmagical.
The Blades and Team Voltron back Lotor for the Kral Zera, and Lotor becomes Emperor.
The human paladins get to go home and celebrate that everything is okay now. Their voices make the human governments stand down from actively firing on alien ships.
Lotor disbands his father’s enslaved planets from the empire, offering reparations and working with Kolivan, the Blades, and Team Voltron to provide assistance to those planets as they rebuild.
Some Galra remember Lotor mostly as a traitor to his father and a bad overseer of a mining colony. The Fires of Purification rise, in time with increasing concerns over how the Galra will sustain its reliance on quintessence without conquering and enslaving.
Princess Allura—now crowned Queen of the New Altean Colony—works on the strange, quite sentient Sincline mecha that she and Lotor had built. She removes any glitch left over from Haggar’s influence on Oriande and realizes that she has a mobile, self-protecting entity that is a direct connection to the Life Givers.
Allura makes a deal with the Life Givers through the Sincline mecha, that it will open the rift twice a movement for the leader of any planet, so that quintessence can be collected from the rift. In exchange, it would have the right to judge the heart of the leader and enact justice against any who abused such a position. And that its older sibling, Voltron, would continue to ensure that no one else abuse the power either in a way that would harm others.
The mecha agrees to the condition on the astral plane. Voltron softly chimes in, agreeing as well.
Lotor approaches as the first leader to test this new system. He tears up when he hears the voices of the Life Givers sing to him through Sincline and offer him a well of quintessence for his people. They ask that he one day return to Oriande so that they can embrace him.
The Galra grow to accept Lotor and his strange ways of doing things.
Lotor finds himself oddly in the same position that began his entire journey—leaning on Kolivan for guidance. But Kolivan is no longer his only ally in a sea of enemies. As a matter of fact, Lotor has deepened several bonds and made many friends.
Lotor goes to Allura and says they make a pretty good team, and that he’s feeling cute, how about they marry.
Allura says yes.
The paladins cry happily at their wedding, and for once in 10,000 years, the galaxy is united and at peace.
Dayak reappears in time for the wedding, and Kolivan reveals that she had been giving the Blades tips for how to operate in the background to get around Zarkon’s defenses, and that she had even been instrumental in Shiro retrieving the black bayard from Zarkon.
Dayak is emotional about seeing Lotor again after all this time.
She’s not the only one.
Kolivan’s eyes are twitching during the ceremony. He’s fond and protective of his operatives, but there is a lot of space dust in the air as he watches Lotor marry, remembering that fateful day he’d saved Lotor from imminent death.
Lotor one day tries to give his BOM dagger back to Kolivan, recognizing that he has not been in the field for a long time—and that managing a planet and helping with New Altea is quite a lot of work.
Kolivan gently presses the dagger hilt back into Lotor’s hand. “Once a Blade, always a Blade.”
Lotor tears up because Kolivan is probably the closest he has come to a true father figure.
Somewhere, Coran is still crying of space dust, and the paladins crash the scene to demand a beach party. Because once Team Voltron, always Team Voltron.
Krolia and Kolivan are watching over the group.
There are gratuitous laugh scenes with two mechas standing guard in the distance, gleaming in the sunlight.
The end!
(Ahhh yeah, so this was yet another unexpected and extensive rewrite of VLD, loll. I hope these long outlines don’t bother anyone asdljfsa. But I enjoyed the ask, thank you for the prompt! Also I’m still steadily trying to work on Adrenaline Rush in the background. For some reason, I’m just having some writer’s block with it. I hope to update it soon, though!)

flash review for episode 14
i KNEW this episode was gonna tear my heart apart but man, i didn’t know it’d be this bad
but lets start from the beginning: i love sua, man. i’ve always loved her in the comics, and madam kang min-ah really delivered her SO WELL
and i know at one point it might even look petty, but personally like, i truly felt sua feeling betrayed when jugyeong didn’t tell her anything — like, yes, jugyeong has a right to tell or not to tell, but the idea of someone withholding information from you when you thought they trusted you does hurt
so i feel like sua’s hurt is valid, and im so SO SOOOO happy she talked it out
im also SO happy when she said the line “sujin was the one who lost us” because in that sort of mindset, i’m more towards jugyeong? in a sense that i still tried to rationalise or justified what she did, especially knowing her circumstances and the fact that she’s like, only 17 or 18
but sua’s right. sujin made the choice all on her own. she was the one who decided not to care for jugyeong or sua any longer. and that’s a strong message to put out there.
SPEAKING OF......... CAN WE GIVE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO PARK YOUNA???????????? DUDE..... she killed it
i was so, so, SO thrilled by the way sujin was written in the k-drama you have no idea. its so much more fleshed out, the depths are astronomical, and almost like a reflection of suho in earlier episodes — we can see the fragility of her mental health, and how she isn’t coping well, and how that led her to lash out to everyone around her
but unlike suho, she didn’t learn. or rather, she refused to. she villainies herself, thinking it would hurt less or it wouldn’t matter as much when she caused this amount of damage. and thats so so so good. thats excellent writing. im amazed.
and i love how that also reflected the three other main characters well as well: jugyeong overcame her trauma — she stopped hiding — and sujin allowed it to lead her to a more destructive path — she was the one who ran away; suho is an accumulation of bad parenting, same as sujin, but they reversed their roles with suho warming up to people towards the end of the season, and sujin cutting off one good relationship after another as opposed to when the series started; seojun is a reflection of them inhabiting the same roles of pining over people they can’t have, but seojun chose to respect the relationship, while sujin couldn’t. it’s fucking amazing. just hit me up if u wanna talk about it more
joo hye-min was so, so good. i think she was supposed to be the other friend with sua and jugyeong (i couldn’t remember her name omg) so that was a really good circle of returning back to the webtoon original plot, which seemed to be the main theme right now rip us
i fucking LOVE the insight to how anxious suho actually is when it comes to dating jugyeong, to the point it could be unhealthy. taehoon is absolutely right, and its so NICE that suho has friends now — reliable peers that he trusts — to tell him as it is
we can see that he has these train of thoughts that he knows logically he shouldn’t do as a romantic partner, and u know what he did? he didn’t do it. he didn’t say those thoughts. he approached it differently. HE LEARNS!!!!!!!
and the seojun/suho date night out pls kill me,,,,, its so good,,,
seojun is still a better fighter in my heart because the webtoon says so (im just a webtoon hoe i cannot change this) but its all good cause we RESPECT healthy communication among friends
and we RESPECT seojun saying whatever the fuck he wants to say as long as he knows his points get across like that boy could like, get it
i fucking love that it’s consistent throughout the few minutes we see of jugyeong trying to take her exam and suho trying to fill his time that it’s obvious suho misses her. he expresses this several times, too. and yet when he knew seojun wants to see his girlfriend after WEEKS (presumably) of not properly seeing her? he lets her go. he gives seojun a chance
because as much as seojun respects suho, he respects him back
BITCH,,,, IF THAT AINT THE PINNACLE OF HEALTHY ROMANCE RIVALRY IDK WHAT IS.....
the whole date scene just,,, i died,,,, i knew it was gonna be their last day (due to the clothes) so towards the end i was already crying
and in my head, i kept saying, this is so sad. they’re not gonna see each other again. suho said, “go home.” to jugyeong, as if he’ll be there the next day to walk her to school, but he won’t. we all know he won’t. that will be the last time they see each other. and that ripped me apart.
but u know what jugyeong said? she broke down the moment suho was gone from the view and all she said was, “what happens if [suho’s father] passes away? what will happen to suho?” because all she thought was that she couldn’t be there for him, that suho is alone
and that kills me more. she’s just so kind in loving him, but they were always the star-crossed lovers. they were always meant to separate right there, so no zendaya and zac efron, they cant rewrite the stars
i am a bit pissed off that they decide to follow the webtoon at the end. i feel like, more than anything, it seems as if they’re only throwing that plot for shock value??? idk tho
because i’m not the biggest seojun fan, but even i felt offended that they would do it this late into the series and in return sacrifice what could’ve been a good romantic development for seojun and jugyeong
so now all we’re gonna get are like scrapes of what-could’ve-been
but then again, the series have been good at surprising us so far, so i’m not quite sure what they’re planning ahead
speaking of, idk the fate of suho and jugyeong either???? i dont think its smth to forgive suho for in two episodes so????? @ true beauty writers, whats good????
other notes: i personally dont care about mr. han that much, i much rather see the lim family interacting among themselves as is, but yeah. good for them. welcome, mr. han, into the chaotic mess that is the lim family
overall, it’s... a strong 8/10. suho and jugyeong should’ve kissed more. seojun and sujin as usual, are the lowkey power couple and no im not accepting criticism. idk from where jugyeong suddenly knew how to throw a punch but ok, go home park saemi ure done. i hope selena comes back. pretty sure she’ll save the whole show if our main cast couldn’t. what are y’all thought

* / 𝐇 𝐈 𝐒 𝐓 𝐎 𝐑 𝐘
bradley was born in a small town in maine. at the time, everything he thought was normal for a child to endure. now that he’s older, he knows it isn’t. growing up, he was a trained liar. he doesn’t like lying now but can spit one out faster and smoother than he’d like to admit. his mother was naive and so young and his father was cruel and lived in the world only for himself. never a good combination.
there were a lot of times bradley would go to school with no food. he would always say he rushed out of the house and forgot because he slept in. his father spent all the grocery money to drink. bradley would fall asleep at school. he would always say it’s because he’s scared of the dark. he was actually scared of his father and would spend the night in his bedroom closet that could lock. bradley would cry and flinch at loud noises and the sound of glass crashing. he would say it’s because he’s just like a deer, easily scared. his father would throw things at him if he so much as stepped out of line (but bradley never knew what that line was). he would endure it all for his mother, who would sometimes come into his room, scoop him up in her arms when things calmed down, and sing to him. it’s these moments he’d remember fondly, the moments where she managed to keep some money for herself and get a good supper for the two.
it truly felt like it was him and his mother against the world. there were a few times where bradley would slip up, say something wrong at school, make an offhand comment about home to his friend, and child services would get involved. however, his father would clean up for these visits. his mother could’ve been an amazing movie actress, as well. bradley was also on his way there — but it was his mistake that they all pretended. he would always get punished for it later.
sometimes the arguing would get too much. when he cried enough tears from inside the closet, he would run. run to his uncle’s house. he’d ask to stay for a few days. his uncle always said yes. but this would always spell trouble in the long run. his uncle was rowdy, always trying to get his sister out of such a terrible situation, and would butt his head whenever he got a chance. his uncle would often make the fighting worse. all bradley needed was a break, though, he promised.
he was almost finished high school. he took up odd jobs if he wasn’t in school so he didn’t pass with stellar grades or anything. some were even impressed that he managed to end up on the graduation list at all. he had saved up enough money, between him and his mother, to eventually leave his father. there was a light at the end of the tunnel. but, once again, the fighting became too much.
this time, he stayed at a friend’s house. he always had his money on him. he couldn’t trust the nooks and crannies of that house, his father would always worm his slimy fingers into them. he always blamed himself for not staying at his uncle’s that night... or even at home. because this time, the fighting really did become too much and things went too far.
a frantic call from his uncle in the dead of the night sent bradley on a frenzy. his father had beaten his mother so badly that she was hospitalized. put into a coma with extensive head trauma. bradley left his friend’s on account of emergency but didn’t end up going to the hospital. no, no, no. it was the only time bradley could call himself his father’s son.
that same night, his father died in a car crash. the police ruled it as a collision involving drunk driving. though, there were damages that pointed towards another vehicle ramming into the car. there were no other vehicles on scene when they arrived and the road wasn’t monitored to pull up security footage. however, the only next of kin his father had was bradley and his mother. everything fell onto bradley.
his father, at least, had some funds stashed away in a bank account. it was enough to cover the funeral. but not enough to cover the hospital fees. and bradley felt like he was going insane existing in the house he grew up in. he was going insane just being in the same town he grew up in. everybody seemed to know his business.
so, like he and his mother promised, he ran away. his uncle is the only one who knows his whereabouts now and bradley made him promise not to tell anyone else. but, instead of taking the whole amount, bradley only took half of what he and his mother saved. he used the other half to go towards his mother’s hospital bills.
bradley, now telling people to call him boog, drifted for a bit. picking up odd jobs for a week or two to feed himself. he needed to find a new home. he needed to be anywhere else but maine. now, he thought about the glamourous cities but felt like it didn’t suit him. eventually, he came to irving. and he liked it. so he stayed here.
boog is called boog because he was a bit of a snotty kid. he was constantly ill with the common cold, linked directly to his home situation. he often had sinus infections because of it. so, mean kids would often call him ‘booger’. eventually, booger became boog and it was just a part of him. he was a laidback individual and the nickname lost its insulting meaning by the time he reached high school but by then, most people called him by his surname. bradley feels too personal.
boog works two jobs, as well as doing several odd jobs around the neighborhood he settled in. he stocks at the local grocery store, working 3pm to 11pm. he also works at a midnight diner, working from 12am to 8am. he gets some sleep for the morning, then gets right back to it. on his days off, he’s often seen mowing other people’s lawn, cleaning cars and houses, and doing small fix-it jobs around properties. he’s a busybody for sure. but not only does he have to support himself, he has to make sure the hospital bills for his mother are being paid. after all these years, it’s still him and his mother against the world.
in the six years of being in irving, boog developed some nasty coping mechanisms. any time work became too overwhelming or he couldn’t make a payment and was faced with a late fee, bradley felt like a failure to the point where he would engage in self-harm. he was alone mostly, other than at work or out with his friends, so it was a lot of time to wrestle with this idea that he wouldn’t be enough to keep his mother alive. he would cut his biceps and thighs, places he could easily conceal his scars with t-shirts or shorts. he would cut at work in the men’s bathroom or cut in the closet of his bedroom. familiar places, places where he could hide.
however, it got out of hand when he cut too deep on his thigh and it affected the way he walked. the visible limp raised concern from coworkers, friends, and neighbors. finally done with lying, he admitted to self-harm to those he trusted. his friends encouraged him to go to counselling and to reach out when he felt the urge.
it’s been a year since he’s last self-harmed. since then, he’s covered his scars with band-aid tattoos, each of them a design from someone he’s felt close enough to tell about his progress. there are still some to be covered, but he’s always mused there’s always friends to be made that could help him cover it up.
* / 𝐏 𝐄 𝐑 𝐒 𝐎 𝐍 𝐀 𝐋 𝐈 𝐓 𝐘
boog is hardworking and determined and doesn’t hesitate to push his limits. of course, this all comes to his physicality and his work ethic. he’s not all too bright, otherwise. he can’t contest life’s many questions, he’s too busy memorizing regular orders, the truck order for the next night, and what his friend’s favourite things are. he’s a very present individual, in that he can’t worry about the future or the past too much. and above all else, boog is kind.
he never asks for anything in return for the deeds he does. he always repays a favour. and he always extends a helping hand. he thinks being a neighborly person is the pinnacle of humanity and does his best to emulate that. however, that makes for some clashes with his dull mind, as he can often be mistaken or say the wrong thing. his gold heart does make up for his lack of brightness.
boog has also learned patience. patience with the world, patience with himself. he didn’t get angry much before but when he did, it was pent up and built over years of being complacent. it was never a good thing to lose his temper. however, over the course of his regular counselling, he has learned to be more self-aware and express his frustrations in a healthy manner. his shoulders still bear a lot of burden but at least, he can learn to take off the load and rest for a while before putting it back on.
* / 𝐂 𝐎 𝐍 𝐍 𝐄 𝐂 𝐓 𝐈 𝐎 𝐍 𝐒
band-aid crew — this person has designed a band-aid tattoo for boog. he reached out to this person during a time of recovery and trusted him with his journey thus far. this person could have been someone he met at work, through friends, or they live on the same block as him. boog counted and needs 27 band-aids to cover all his scars and is confident that he can get them all covered through others’ artwork. his uncle and nieces already made their mark, and boog designed one himself. ( 0/22 )
upstanding citizen — this person is the parental figure that boog never had and didn’t realize he needed until he befriended this person. they fuss over him and make sure he’s gotten enough sleep. they bring him coffee to work and invite him over for dinner. in return, boog does the same. he tries hard to cook for them— though he’s not great at it. he brings them gifts that reminded him of them. ( 0/1 )
intimacy buddies — boog is kind of pure in that he’s someone who wants to make sure people feel fulfilled. it first started off as a joke, that on the chance that they felt lonely, boog would be of service. however, boog’s pretty dependable and he hides no ulterior motive. so, he cuddles them for hours while watching movies, he holds their hands as they walk through the beach, and he sleeps with them when they can’t stand to sleep alone. he runs his hands through their hair upon request. however, they’re still friends and as thick as thieves. ( 0/3 )
amicable exes — it’s hard for boog to hold grudges. they come in white hot flashes of anger and they leave just as quickly. he’s learned to no longer stew in it. when this relationship falls apart, boog can admit his shortcomings and understand that they just weren’t meant for each other. that doesn’t stop boog from caring about them any less. they’re friends now and maybe friends was always the better option. ( 0/1 )
SPECIAL MENTIONS: as always, i fiend for all sorts of friendly and fwb connections! i also think a rival connection wld b interesting but we wld hav to lay some groundwork for sure!

Hey! I know you are currently not doing any ask game so I hope you don’t mind me dropping by! Anyways, my question: what is something you wish someone would ask you about your story? (Whichever one).
Hope you are having a wonderful day🧡
KATYA! HELLO MY FrIEND!! :D omg AWE!!! It’s always okay to stop on by the ask box, i woke up and saw this and AH GOSH i smiled so wide seeing it truly, it meant the world to me and all day i’ve been playing around with how i want to answer it and OMG IM SO HYPE FOR THIS TRULY YOU HAVE NO IDEA!! i hope you’re having a wonderful day yourself katya - you deserve it ah!!! :) Landslide has many, many little things that I’ve put in for me, along with dynamics and plot points...and just SO MANY FUN THINGS THAT I ENJOYED!!! just so many that i really love - so let’s get into it!!
I’ll put it under the cut, just because this got longer than I thought it would be! LOL!!
I have discussed this previously, through a variety of ways, but this is my 3rd Band of Brothers fic, 4th published book in the fandom! And I really wanted to let it be different and really just step way outside of the box, really just see what I can work with, what I can actually make work - all that sort of stuff.
I really enjoyed a SOE Agent’s dynamic with Easy Company, like entirely LOVE THAT, but I wanted to elevate it a bit more to see where I could really sort of wiggle an OC in - and it came to me. I always felt the Warsaw Uprising was extremely important in terms of the war, especially as the Polish Resistance was dubbed the most organized and effective resistance group under German power. AND SO - Landslide was born!!
Something about this story is - we don’t focus inherently on Natia and Easy right away - there’s 19 chapters of intense and deep context of her time BEFORE Easy. It’s all things I really tried to strategically plan out in many senses. Everything that occurs in those 19 chapters are backstory and context for actions and words and interior dialogue later. Things she might end up referencing later - so that whens he arrives with Easy, it’s almost like you’re meeting Easy Company for the first time too in sort of a new light.
I also wanted to explore some sides of characters in Easy Company that you might not normally see - specifically Captain Richard Winters (and to say a few people didn’t seem pleased about it, was fine by me to be quite honest AHAHAH!!!). This was all strictly off depiction throughout the series, not the real Winters, and so I really tried to pull smaller scenes of his leadership side, his firm side, his side that I feel can maybe sometimes be overlooked if that’s the way to put it(?). SO - Captain Winters in Landslide has quite the rocky start with Natia and vice versa - but I feel what I really love about that is, both Natia and Winters are leaders, but leaders in different ways.
I tend to compare it with the Alpha and the Lone Wolf.
From the beginning, Natia was whom I referred to many times as a lone wolf and many ideas that encompass her is this idea of a lone wolf, and I knew it many ways when she first met Easy, she’d be an outsider to them. Trust would be hard, especially with the war, and tension would be quite thick and impulsiveness and emotions were bound to follow after. So, having Natia and Winters have this sort of tension growing between them with two very different forms of leadership was something I wanted to play with. Winters grew and trained with these men who turned into brothers. Natia lost everyone she ever loved whenever she was in charge and the trauma keeps her from wanting to ever really have to lead anyone but herself. Clearly, teamwork is not her best expertise and she is not a crowd favorite in any sense. But really, she has no choice but to stay with them for her safety, for her country and for the people of her country (quite a constant thought!).
Episode 5 really gave me a lot of freedom to be able to create at least a chunk of chapters that are focused in between the end of Episode 4 and the beginning of Episode 5 and that allowed me to really just explore dynamics between characters and approaches to certain situations not presented in the actual episodes of the show. I did research on what occurred after Operation Market-Garden specifically for this portion of the story and if I’m being honest it has to be my exact favorite part of the story.
I have entitled Part 2, Portrait of a Spy and we really dig deep into Natia and her connection with Easy Company.
And one of the most important things about Natia is she has depression and at times it rages pretty severely more than anything. I always felt mental health was important especially because one article I read for research talked about how severe the mental health issues were after World War 2 especially and I felt that was just so important to discuss and depicting Natia with depression (and some cases severe) was the route to go! Elizabeth Elliot in TSOS and AAPA has ADHD (defined as a hyper kinetic disorder during WW2) and so I really wanted to represent depression here, which is very relevant to Natia at the moment in this story!
So portions of this part really dig into Natia and her mental health and her log of interior thoughts and dialogue that really become a huge part of her life and effect her GREATLY. I reference it sort of as a warping because the war, is ultimately problem #1 and super important, but where we are now, Natia just wants to get home. Yet she has to combat her mental health which arguably is crippling more than anything. Part 2 is really a focus on the importance of mental health and how it affected people, especially in war and especially someone like Natia. The list of things that really sort of built up around her that caused this (I would name them, but SPOILERS LOL!!!) and it really were things that that I had to flesh out and get the details just right.
One of the most prominent things on this list is her parents’ death - I feel that remains more than anything the #1 instigated for who she is today. Of course, Agent Mortem and his training, which did nothing but bad things, is a close second, but her parents’ death is #1. She was 18, she was only just arriving into early adulthood, she still had a life ahead of her and then war was what stopped it all. She states how 4 days after the Germans invaded, her parents were killed because they were Cultural Elitists for Warsaw, Poland and (I have a full explanation in a historical note on a few chapters) but there was a list 2 years prior to war by the Germans of all the Cultural Elitists. Her parents were on that list. And to say it’s a moment she references quite often is an understatement. And this is just one of MANY, MANY things from the early days of war.
Ok, this turned into a big ramble fest of overlapping things, so I’m sorry about that LOL!! I got into it and the question is very enabling so thank you for that Katya aha!!! I don’t want to get to long-winded and I can always answer specific questions again in asks or DMs as well!! :D Thank you so much for this, getting this yesterday was a joy to wake up to and I finally got it down to what I wanted to talk about! So truly thank you!! <3

Fulfilling your grandmother’s last request to look after him becomes a lot harder when he seems to be avoiding you, and your dissatisfied relatives start stirring up trouble.

Masterlist || Prev. | Afterstory*
Two days had passed since Taehyung had come to visit, and you were cautiously optimistic. On one hand, you were feeling on top of the world. You hadn’t heard a peep from your relatives, you and Yoongi were closer than ever, and not only were the two of you enjoying each other’s company, but your skin was the clearest it had ever been— an unforeseen, but very welcome bonus. You had so many reasons to be overjoyed and content, and you were— until your mind ventured too far into the details.
You were counting it as a good thing that you hadn’t heard from your relatives, remaining optimistic that it was an indicator you’d gotten in ahead of them, and this whole thing would thus blow over smoothly. But really, the fact that you hadn’t seen hide nor hair of them was also cause for concern. If they hadn’t shown back up, then historically that meant they were plotting something, or enacting said plot. It was when your mind ventured down this particular track that you found your mood dropping. There was a fear that niggled in the back of your thoughts that maybe you’d been too late, that maybe they were one step ahead and there was still a possibility of losing Yoongi to them.
Thoughts like this brought your mood down, but in a house where you weren’t alone anymore you certainly weren’t left to dwell on it. Almost as though Yoongi had an extra sense that was attuned specially to you, the second you found yourself thinking something along those lines and your mood changed, he would be by your side. He’d grasp your hand in his— he’d grown a lot bolder since your venture to the park, although he still sported a pretty blush whenever he did something particularly daring— and tug you in the direction of the living room. With something playing on the large TV to serve as a visual distraction, he would pull you gently down next to him on the couch, his arm and tail curling around you securely as you slotted perfectly into his side. It was the perfect distraction, because even if the massive TV didn’t capture your attention, then being immersed in the warmth and safety of his embrace, surrounded by his subtle minty scent and feeling his heart thrum against your cheek where it pressed against his chest, certainly did.
In fact, it was a fairly similar position that you’d found yourself in now. It was a cold and dreary day, rain hammering down heavily outside and thunder rumbling in the distance, and you’d both finished lunch not long ago. You’d run out of things to do for the day, and so had suggested a movie— to your surprise Yoongi had agreed without a moments hesitation. Now here you both were, seated comfortably on the plushest couch in the living room with the lights off and a movie of the hybrid’s choice beginning to play on the large flatscreen.
You were seated close to each other, arms brushing occasionally, but neither of you moved. A part of you wished you could rest in his arms once more but you were far to embarrassed to even try and initiate anything of the sort. Instead you tried to distract yourself from those thoughts and focus on the movie, and you would have been able to had something not been flickering your peripheral vision.
It was Yoongi’s ears, twitching and shifting as they adjusted to each sound and voice that came from the TV. His gaze was trained on the screen, but as you turned to watch his ears fully he eventually noticed your gaze. He turned slightly, the lightest traces of a blush on his cheeks, “What?”
You couldn’t help the flush that heated your own cheeks as you were torn from your thoughts and realised he’d caught you staring— you’d been thinking about what his ears would feel like, what it would be like to pet them. You weren’t going to lie, it was a thought you’d entertained a lot, and sitting so close to him like you were now, the urge was a lot stronger than it usually was. On a whim, you decided to just go for it.
“Can I pet your ears?” you asked before you lost the impulse that had carried you this far. Yoongi blinked, eyes wide in shock. All of his attention was now on you, and you could feel your cheeks heating even more. Slight regret began to seep into your bones and you stuttered slightly, about to take it back when the hybrid beside you spoke.
“Sure,” Yoongi said, a slight nervous waver to his gravelly tone that you mightn’t have picked up had you not been living with him for a while. His cheeks were bright pink and you had to resist the strange urge to coo at his cuteness that rose within you. “You can, uh… you can pet them.”
You couldn’t help the bright smile that overtook your face at his permission, your hand raising immediately to get started. It must have alarmed Yoongi however, as he suddenly squawked, “Gently!”
You giggled, moving slower and first resting your hand on his head, slowly brushing your fingers through his hair. His raven locks were surprisingly soft, silky against your skin. The hybrid watched you curiously, like he was wondering exactly what you were going to do, and it struck you as a bit odd.
“Yoongi,” you began, scratching your nails lightly down his scalp. His eyes fluttered closed in bliss, mouth dropping open slightly as the softest of noises began to build in his chest. He hummed, and you continued, “Has anyone ever pet your ears before?”
“No,” he mumbled distractedly as your nails scratched just behind one of his ears, that sound in his chest growing louder as you continued your ministrations. It took you a second to realise that he was purring, like some big overgrown cat. Your heart skipped a beat, and you had to squash a squeal that threatened to rise up your throat.
“Oh my god,” you whispered, but Yoongi was enjoying himself far too much to even notice you’d said anything. You used your nails to scratch lightly up his ear and his body sagged, tension leaving his form all at once as his body leant into your touch. His purring grew even louder, the sound bordering on what you’d hear in big cats when they growled, except lighter, less threatening. His fluffy, raven tail was thrashing and curling happily behind him.
You continued petting him, drinking in his blissful reactions, but soon enough your arm began to grow tired from being held up the entire time. You spoke on another whim, “Yoongi, lay your head on my lap. My arm is starting to hurt.”
You’d expected a bit of backlash, maybe a cheeky comment in return, but all you got was a hybrid dropping his head on your lap without so much as a split-second of hesitation, purrs rumbling from his throat and vibrating along your leg. His hand came up to grip your thigh and he cuddled closer, pressing against you contently. You had to squash the soft gasp that accompanied the several skipped beats your heart performed; he was like putty in your hands and you could hardly believe it. You immediately went back to work, with both hands this time— you didn’t want to squander the opportunity he was presenting to you and ruin the moment.
Yoongi looked like he’d never been in such a state of utter happiness and bliss before, and to be honest it sparked a certain amount of pride in you to know you were the one making him feel this way. You alternated between dragging your nails gently down his scalp and rubbing the soft, black fur on his ears, rubbing your thumb against the flow of hair then back over again to smooth it. Yoongi didn’t stop purring the entire time, his whole body lax where it lay across your lap and the couch.
Eventually you trailed your hand further, dragging your nails and scratching at where his hairline met the nape of his neck, eliciting a shudder and a pleased hum from the hybrid under your hands. You continued like this as the movie went on, although truthfully at this point neither of you were watching it.
After a while you strayed more, one hand rubbing his scalp and ears and the other dragging your nails over his back soothingly. When you first did it, it was almost like Yoongi had literally melted onto the couch, a soft noise of happiness escaping against your thigh as his grip around it tightened slightly. It was like you were petting one big cat. From the sounds he would make, and the way his purring picked up each time you scratched down the length of his spine, he was enjoying it a lot.
You found it in yourself to tease him a bit, “I thought big cats couldn’t purr?”
Yoongi grumbled, but the happy swishing and curling of his tail in the air betrayed his true emotions. “Shut up,” he said weakly, emitting a particularly loud purr as you scratched his lower back above his tail. He sounded sleepy yet seemed surprisingly awake. “I do what I want.”
The sleek, fluffy appendage curled to wrap loosely around your wrist, keeping you there whether it was his intention or not, and you let out a soft chuckle both at his words and his actions. Gently, since you were unsure whether he would receive it well, you shifted your hand and dragged your fingers ever so lightly over the length of his tail. The appendage trembled happily, curling over your fingers, and Yoongi let out a happy sigh. You were glad you’d mustered the will to ask him— this was the closest you’d ever been with him, and it was making your tummy do flips.
You continued your ministrations, alternating every so often, until you grew slightly bored and as a result more adventurous. The whole time you’d only used your nails on Yoongi’s back and head, including his ears, and he’d received it pretty well. You’d only been dragging your fingers lightly through the fur on his tail thus far, and hadn’t gone very far down his tail— you’d always stop whenever you grew near the base of his tail where it joined his spine, and begin to move your hand back up. To be honest, you knew historically cats had sensitive tails, and you’d been very cautious not to hurt him and ruin the moment. But since he’d taken it so well, you wondered if he’d receive it just as well should you use your nails to gently drag over his appendage as you had done to his back, head and ears.
You decided to give it a try, moving your hand to the base of his tail and dragging your nails gently along the length of it until you reached the fluffy end. The reaction you received was much different to the one you expected; Yoongi jerked, hand gripping your thigh tightly as a large shudder rolled down his spine and a noise that sounded suspiciously like a moan escaped against your leg. He pulled back suddenly from your lap, chest heaving slightly, and his wide, dilated feline eyes found yours. The feeling that washed over you as he held your gaze was foreign, something you’d never gotten from him before, but it lit something deep in your belly that had a soft gasp passing your lips in shock.
The air between you was thick with something else until the hybrid blinked, breaking the hold he had on you, and his entire face flushed pink. As soon as his eyes released you your mind caught up with you and you panicked slightly, hands going to his shoulders. “Oh shit, Yoongi I’m sorry! Did I hurt you?”
He flushed further, if possible, and he stuttered slightly as he answered, “N-no! No, you didn’t hurt me. Nothing you did caused me pain.”
You couldn’t help the confused tilt of your head, “Then why—”
Yoongi sputtered, averting his gaze as he struggled to arrange his thoughts coherently, “It’s— you, my tail, um… Sensitive. My tail is…very… sensitive.”
“Oh,” you said, eyes widening. “Oh. Whoops. Uh… sorry.”
Yoongi’s cheeks were bright red, and he was looking anywhere but at you. Even though you were slightly embarrassed yourself, you couldn’t help but find his mannerisms cute. Several beats of silence passed between you, the only noise in the room coming from the long-forgotten movie playing on the TV, before he suddenly spoke once more.
“Can you, uh…” he swallowed, scratching the back of his neck. “Can you keep… petting my ears?”
At your surprised, and slightly amused look, he rushed to explain, “It’s just, no one has ever pet my ears before and it felt really… it felt nice. Please?”
You stared at him a second, admiring how awkward he was being compared to usual and trying to swallow your own embarrassment as you did so. You shot him a bright, reassuring smile. “Of course, sweet Suga. Lay your head down again and I shall hop right to it.”
Yoongi grumbled, quickly forgetting his embarrassment at the mention of your grandma’s nickname for him, but lowered his head onto your lap once more nonetheless. The second your hands brushed through his hair and scratched behind his ears his loud, rumbling purrs started up once more and a smile slipped onto your face. He was so cute— a big, overgrown cat.
The movie passed with the both of you sitting content, enjoying each other’s presence and revelling in your touch. Just like usual, with Yoongi by your side all of your worries melted into nothing and you were soothed once more.

It was three days after Taehyung came to visit, and earlier that morning you’d received a text from the blonde that had caused your stomach to drop slightly.
TaeTae [9:14AM] somethings come up with the paperwork don’t worry its nothing bad!! just… different? Strange?? I’ll give you a call later!
Needless to say, you were somewhat concerned. You had a nagging feeling ever since you’d woken up earlier that something was off today, and receiving that text from Taehyung didn’t help one bit. What if the paperwork wasn’t going through? Did Yoongi’s previous owners somehow still have a claim on him? What were you going to do if it turned out you couldn’t adopt him legally and keep him safe? You didn’t want him to go, you wanted him to stay— and not just because your grandmother had asked you to care for him, but because you cared for him. He’d admitted he wanted to stay with you, and spend the rest of his time with you, and you— you felt the same way. He’d grown on you so quickly, so suddenly in such a short amount of time and already you couldn’t imagine your future without him there. You didn’t want to live in this house if he wasn’t there to keep you company, shooting you gummy smiles when you complimented his cooking and bought him icecream, comforting and cuddling you when you were feeling down; your grandmother’s house had quickly become a home to you, but only because Yoongi was here too.
Perhaps, it was really Yoongi that had become a home to you.
Instantly you blushed at the thought— that was so god damn cheesy and you couldn’t believe you thought it with your own mind. It felt sudden, and quick, but honestly it was true, despite how much your logical side cringed. Being with Yoongi felt right to you, and it wasn’t something you wanted to change any time soon, or at all.
You were concerned, but ultimately couldn’t do anything, and so just decided to wait until Taehyung called you to see what was up. You were probably overreacting— it was probably something dumb, miniscule even.
Either way, you’d needed a distraction, which is how you found yourself in your current situation. You were upstairs, making your bed like a responsible adult and sorting your laundry. Boring but necessary, and you felt better after doing it. You’d spent the morning cleaning your room to keep your mind off unwelcome thoughts, and to be honest had made good progress. However you could only clean for so long; you had a short attention span after all, and you were getting bored. That’s why you’d welcomed it when you were midway through throwing clothes in the basket and a call from downstairs stole your attention.
“y/n? Come here for a second.”
Curious as to what the panther hybrid and only other occupant of the house could possibly want, you gladly ditched the clothes and plodded down the stairs. As your feet touched the bottom floor a pleasant, absolutely mouth-watering smell reached your nose and you honest to god nearly moaned out loud. You instinctively followed the delectable scent to the kitchen and were only somewhat surprised to see Yoongi by the bench, fanning a tray of what looked like chocolate chip cookies. You nearly leapt for joy.
“Aw, Suga,” you cooed the nickname, shuffling forward happily to slip your arms around his back in a playful manner. He jumped, having heard you approach but not expecting the intimate position he found himself in. “You made cookies? How domestic. They look amazing.”
Yoongi tried to scowl but there wasn’t any heart in it. The slightest of smiles was tugging his lips, fondness leaking into his deep tone, “Shut up or you don’t get any,” he grumbled, peering at you over his shoulder as you parted from his back, your fingers lingering against his sides for a split-second longer. “And of course they look amazing, I made them. They taste amazing too.”
You laughed, moving so you were standing beside him, and going to grab a cookie off the tray. Yoongi’s lightning reflexes made an appearance as he swatted your hand before you could even touch one, eliciting a surprised yelp. “Yah idiot, don’t touch them yet. They’re still hot.”
You pouted, gaze longingly trained on the steaming cookies that were taunting you from the bench. Yoongi snickered at your expression, taking a cookie off of a tray you hadn’t noticed slightly to the side and bringing it up to your lips. “You can have this one, it’s cooled down more.”
You took the offered treat eagerly between your teeth, before he decided to take it back, and nearly moaned out loud the second you bit into it. Chocolate, warm and gooey, melted onto your tongue and the cookie broke into separate, delicious bits of sweetness and sugar in your mouth. Where the hell had he been hiding such an ability?
“Yoongi,” you shot him a wide-eyed look. “How could you keep this from me so long? You have a gift.”
There was a blush forming on the hybrid’s cheeks that had a certain fondness blossoming in your heart. “Stop being so dramatic,” he scoffed half-heartedly, averting his gaze to the cookies as he began moving them off the tray. “They’re just cookies.”
At the sound of him telling you to stop being dramatic, you immediately did the opposite and amped up the dramatics tenfold. You draped an arm over his shoulder as you spoke, “Just cookies? Cookies that taste like they were made at the hands of a god, you mean.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes, and while he was distracted you took the opportunity to nab the cookie he was currently transferring and shove it in your mouth. He let out an affronted noise and you giggled, almost choking as you did so before you recovered smoothly and swallowed, shooting him a winning smile that elicited yet another eyeroll. You were feeling so warm, on top of the world almost, your heart swelling with nothing but love and affection for the hybrid before you. You almost didn’t notice when there was a series of shuffles behind you.
“Ah, how sweet.”
And all at once your heart dropped and the grin froze on your face. Yoongi’s ears shot up and back, gaze whipping behind you and his tail thrashing in agitation behind him as his hackles rose. You turned, your fear confirmed by the sight of your two aunts before you and several officers behind them. They donned different uniforms to officers that patrolled the streets— these men worked for what was commonly known to as the Pound, a government-managed unit that monitored and oversaw hybrid affairs. You could resist your aunts, but these officers? Legally, your hands were tied. Dread touched your lungs and stole the breath from your lips with creeping tendrils, your eyes wide and mind racing to take in the situation in its entirety. It hit you at once, and immediately you felt nauseous.
If they were here, that meant they’d already taken action— if they were here, it meant they’d already been successful.
It meant they were here to take Yoongi, and without papers or hearing back from Taehyung, there was nothing you could do to stop them.
It was like all of your worst fears had manifested at once. You could feel the animosity emanating from the hybrid behind you, a low growl splitting the air in a similar fashion to the last time your aunts had arrived unannounced. He was responding to the threat before him and you could feel the danger as it danced in the air and caressed your skin. You felt Yoongi’s hand grip the back of your shirt and you found yourself clinging to the slight sense of calm and comfort it brought you.
“Neither of you are welcome here,” you said sharply, eyes narrowed in a cold glare. “Get out of this house. Now.”
Priscilla grinned, a sight that further cemented the dread filling your stomach. She knew she’d already won, she knew she’d gotten in before you’d had a chance to fight back, and she was revelling in it. Her perfectly curled blonde locks tumbled from her shoulder as she tilted her head, crimson-painted lips splitting in her glee. They’d dressed up for the occasion, visage immaculate and fit for the cover of any prestigious magazine. Designer clothes adorned their svelte forms, limbs heavy with gold and jewels. Looking at them, a special type of anger began to simmer within you. How could they be so selfish, so petty? They already had everything they could ever need, yet you could tell they weren’t going to rest until you had nothing left.
“Honey,” she brought her fingers to rest on her chin, gel nails glimmering. “I don’t think you’re in a position to be telling us what to do right now.”
Janine gazed down at her nails, inspecting the flawless pink manicure as her high tone pierced the air, sickly sweet coating causing a peculiar cocktail of anger and nausea to bubble up your oesophagus. The officers behind her shifted slightly at the sound of her voice. “y/n, dear, you know why we’re here. You can make this much easier for everyone if you cooperate and do what we want.”
You bristled, and there was a spike in the snarls tearing from Yoongi’s throat as he sensed your emotional distress. The hand on your shirt tightened slightly.
You knew there was truly nothing you could do, but you weren’t about to lay down and let them take your hybrid without a fight. “No,” you glared, “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again— you can’t take him. I won’t let you.”
Priscilla grinned, clapping her delicately gloved hands together. “Honey, you don’t have a choice!” she crowed, pulling a folded piece of paper from her coat pocket and unfolding it before your eyes. “We have written permission from his previous owners, and I think you know what that means, y/n.”
You did, and it only caused the hopeless frustration within you to grow. You felt it as Yoongi stiffened behind you, his grip on your shirt tightening and his elongated nails piercing the fabric to prick your skin.
“I’m not going anywhere with any of you,” Yoongi spoke up from behind you, voice low with a dark, unspoken promise lining its edge that had your hairs raising and a visible shudder rolling through the women before you. The officers seemed slightly more resistant to the effects of the predator hybrid’s snarls and threatening air.
Janine piped in with glee, repeating Priscilla’s earlier words, “You don’t have a choice! This letter means our claim is the only one the courts will recognise. Even if it’s by force,” her head tilted to the officers behind her in a reminder, “you will be coming with us.”
One of the officers, a large, bulky man to the left of your aunt, took a step forward, and you immediately took one back. Your arm flew out on instinct, as though to prevent him from getting to Yoongi, as your back bumped into his chest. The frustration within you bubbled and curled against your lungs, shortening your breath and luring panic from where it lay dormant within you. There was nothing you could do, but you needed to do something.
“No!” you couldn’t stop the cry as it tore from your throat. You glared further at the two of the people that had done nothing but hurt you for their own gain your entire life. “I will not let you take him. He doesn’t deserve whatever shit you’re going to throw at him, and he most certainly doesn’t deserve to be stuck with two nasty old women who are so embittered with their own lives and who they are that the only thing they know to do is ruin the lives of people around them. He deserves better than you.”
“y/n, please,” your aunt rolled her eyes, sending a spike of fury down your spine. She flicked her blonde curls back over her shoulder, adjusting her stance. The heel of her Valentino clacked against the tile floor. “Save the dramatics— you’re an adult, darling. Act like one, and we won’t have a problem here.”
Yoongi snarled, and while Priscilla cowered your other aunt voiced her agreement, “The officers here aren’t just for the hybrid, y/n. If you resist they will restrain you, and we will take him by force.”
The absolute smug satisfaction painting Janine’s fine features had your blood boiling, all of your helplessness and frustration melting into white hot fury that had angry tears pricking your eyes. All of this was so sudden, so abrupt, and you just wanted them to go. The officers moved to step forward and Yoongi stepped around your arm protectively, snarling louder.
“Why are you doing this?!” you burst, your voice breaking slightly and teeth gritting painfully as you struggled to contain the fury welling within you. More tears pricked your eyes. “Why are you so intent on ruining everything for everyone else?! My parents, grandma… you never stopped trying to sabotage every aspect of their lives, and even now you’re acting out of sheer spite! Why are you so full of hate?!”
Your aunts looked taken aback, the officers’ gazes flitting between yourself and them, before the two women snapped from their daze. Priscilla stepped forward, cold fury freezing her gaze as her eyes narrowed at you. Her manicured hands curled into fists. “Our mother— that bitch always played favourites,” she hissed, pretty features contorting into an ugly glare. “We were never good enough for her, none of us, except your mother and her stupid, perfect husband. She played favourites then, and even now when she’s six feet in the fucking ground she’s playing favourites again and giving everything to you!”
She stepped forward, ignoring the snarl that tore from Yoongi’s throat at the action. Her face was red in anger. “We should be the ones getting that inheritance, not some snivelling little brat that somehow managed to make it into the good books by birthright alone,” another step closer, another ugly scowl as she spit the words like venom from her mouth, “I don’t care if we have to tear it from your bloody fingers, sweetheart, we’re getting what is owed to us— and if we can’t take anything else, we’re taking him.”
“Nothing is owed to you!” you snapped, glaring at the women who were trying to take the final, most precious person in your life. “Maybe if you weren’t such horrible, nasty people you’d see that the only thing stopping you from getting anything from her was your own hateful actions! You’re all selfish, and manipulative, and you have no one to blame for the way things turned out but yourselves!”
You switched your glare between them, angry tears finally budding and slipping down your cheeks. Yoongi’s head whipped to look at you the second they touched your skin. “She was right to keep everything from you, you destroy everything you touch. You’re willing to blame your own mother even after her death for your own shortcomings. You’re toxic.”
Your aunts were livid, fuming as Yoongi switched his stance and took your hand in his.
“That’s enough!” Janine snarled, her brunette locks flying as she marched forward. She jabbed her fingers at the officers. “You, get that hybrid and restrain him, now! We didn’t bring you to stand around and do nothing!”
The officers jerked into motion and, eyes wide, you cried out in protest. You felt entirely helpless. “Don’t!”
Sensing your distress and catching sight of more tears slipping down your cheeks, Yoongi pulled you closer protectively, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and turning you away from the other people in the room. You heard Janine scoff, “Oh, how touching. You fools, hurry up and get him. I want her away from him and I want that hybrid so we can leave.”
You screwed your eyes shut as Yoongi’s embrace around you tightened, the officers beginning to advance further. They didn’t make it more than three steps before there was a loud bang and a deep shout that echoed against the walls, “STOP!”
Everything froze, and several beats of your heart filled your ears before recognition lit in the back of your mind and you were pulling back to see Taehyung rushing into the room, another man with dark red hair hot on his heels. The blonde was slightly out of breath as he halted, taking in the scene before him. His eyes narrowed, and you noticed a new hesitance in the officers that hadn’t been there before. “Taehyung,” you whispered, confusion and relief filling you all at once, and Yoongi pulled back to turn and see for himself, his grip on your hand never faltering.
“You can’t take him,” Taehyung spoke simply, with an authority and firmness you’d never before heard in his voice, his usual playful lilt long gone. The officers wavered, while your aunts simmered.
Priscilla stepped forward, waving the paper in her grasp with a smug smile to mask her anger. “On the contrary,” she said, unable to hide the spite in her tone. “We have paper-proof that—”
“A signed letter of acknowledgement from previous owners means nothing if the hybrid is not unregistered or unclaimed,” Taehyung said coldly, glaring at the blonde with such intensity that she took a firm step back, eyes widening in shock. You struggled to keep up with his words, however, confusion whirling amongst your thoughts.
At Priscilla’s silence, Janine sputtered, “Stop spouting nonsense!” she snarled, ripping the letter from her sister’s grasp. “This is all we need— with this the court acknowledges we have the right to the hybrid—”
“Haven’t you been listening?” Taehyung snapped, moving towards where you and Yoongi stood near the bench. “The letter means nothing before the court if there is already a claim or ownership in place. Yoongi is not unregistered or unclaimed.”
Your eyes flew to Taehyung’s face, mouth hanging open in shock. What on earth did he mean Yoongi wasn’t unclaimed or unregistered? He’d said it himself, Yoongi had been apart from his previous owners long enough that their ownership had become void, and your grandmother had never claimed him. Your mind was whirling— his text earlier, the fact that he’d just burst in now, what he was saying now— what the hell did it all mean?!
“There is no possible way for the hybrid to be anything but unclaimed,” Priscilla hissed, hands curling in rage. “There wasn’t enough time for that brat to fill out and lodge forms—”
Taehyung shook his head, “There wasn’t,” he agreed, but his gaze remained icy where it fell upon the two women. “But she didn’t need to. Yoongi is already in her name.”
A soft gasp fell from your lips, shock palpable on your aunts’ faces. It took only a moment for their expressions to cross over to realisation. “That bitch,” Janine hissed, venom dripping from each word.
Taehyung ignored their apparent revelation. “With a current ownership in place, you cannot take Yoongi,” he stated, gaze hard.
Your aunts didn’t react well. Janine bristled, Priscilla jerking forward. “Who the hell do you think you are?” she barked, changing her approach to the situation. “The words of some boy who just waltzed in here mean nothing to me, and sure as hell aren’t going to stop me from taking that hybrid. Officers, hurry and get him!”
Contrary to what you expected, the officers did nothing. Not a single one of them moved from their spots, and it infuriated your aunt like nothing you’d ever seen before. You watched as some of them shot nervous glances to the other people in the room. What the hell was going on—?
“Are you all deaf?” her voice rose with her rage. “I said, get that hybrid! I can and will make your lives miserable!”
There was a beat of silence before someone stepped forward, and your eyes widened in surprise. The red-haired male that had followed Taehyung in pinned the two women with a hard glare, hand reaching into his suit pocket to pull out a badge that glinted in the light.
“They’re not going to be doing anything of the sort while their superior is here to witness it,” he said dryly, looking vastly unimpressed. The Pound officers shifted, uncomfortable beneath his hard gaze. His eyes flicked to your aunts. “I’m Jung Hoseok, head of the Department of Hybrid Services. Those officers answer to me.”
You watched as the colour visibly drained from your aunts’ faces. At their stunned silence, the red-haired male, Hoseok, continued, “From what I’ve just witnessed, I have enough to charge you both with serious offences. Attempting to forcefully remove a claimed and registered hybrid from their owner falls under hybrid trafficking, after all, and I think you understand how serious and punishable those offences are.”
For the first time in your life, you witnessed fear enter your relatives’ eyes. Hybrid trafficking was one of the most serious and punishable offences— sentences were never light.
“You cannot legally take this hybrid, and you will not ever be able to. I suggest you leave before the list of offences grows and I am forced to take further action,” Hoseok jerked his head to the door, dark eyes still narrowed in a firm glare as they found the officers and he ordered them, “Escort them out and inform them of what shall happen should they ever step foot back on this property and violate the restraining order I am going to lodge.”
And just like that, you were watching as the officers escorted your aunts out of the room and off the property. Even amongst their apparent shock, they found the will to glare at you as they passed by. They yelled, screaming insults and protests as they were forcibly removed from the house, but they weren’t stupid enough to try and fight back physically. Your eyes followed their angry forms until they were no longer within view, shock coursing through your mind as you struggled to comprehend the situation that had concluded just as rapidly and suddenly as it had begun.
Distantly, the door clicked shut behind them, the deadbolt automatically sliding home and a soft beep echoing through the air. No one spoke for a second, and as you turned to grill Taehyung for answers the red-haired man, Hoseok, suddenly let out a great breath and visibly deflated. He spun then, a brilliant, megawatt smile on his face as he stuck his hand out at you— Yoongi didn’t even have time to growl protectively before you were shaking the offered appendage and listening to him introduce himself.
“Woah, what a way to meet!” he laughed amicably, smile lighting up the room. You were in slight shock at the further turn of events. “Anyway, as I’m sure you just heard, I’m Jung Hoseok. I’m Taehyung’s boss.”
Your eyes widened in realisation as you shook his hand, but confusion still ebbed at your thoughts. “I’m y/n,” you said, before continuing, “Thank you so much, Mr Jung, for helping like you did. Please excuse me for asking, but didn’t you say before you were…?”
Hoseok’s dark eyebrows rose, but the smile never left his face. “Just Hoseok, please!” he requested, before responding to your latter question. “And the head of the Department of Hybrid Services? That I am, miss y/n. Both the Pound— or the Specialised Hybrid Management Unit, I should say— and authorised shelters like the one Taehyung here manages, answer to me. They’re both different branches of the same department, after all.”
Your mouth formed a silent ‘o’ in realisation. “Ah,” was all you could manage. “Thank you, again. I have no idea what I would have done if you two hadn’t come— which reminds me. Taehyung.”
The blonde turned to you, quizzical expression on his face before he realised your current train of thought. You spoke it anyway, rubbing your thumb over Yoongi’s hand where it remained in your grasp as you felt him shift anxiously beside you. “What did you mean before, when you were saying all that stuff.”
“Oh!” Taehyung beamed, reaching into his pocket to procure a bunch of papers folded into a haphazard square that left much to be desired. “That’s what I was going to call you about! Your paperwork was going through the final stages this morning when something came up. It was an error in the registry section, and I couldn’t understand how since Yoongi, legally, should have been unregistered.”
You listened with wide eyes as he continued, hands gesticulating each word greatly. “So I did some further digging— this was after I messaged you by the way— and found out why our system wouldn’t let your claim process. It turns out Yoongi wasn’t actually unclaimed, he was recently registered under someone’s name.”
Your brows furrowed in a display of your confusion, gears whirring in your mind as you remembered what he’d said earlier to your aunts. “But the claim I filled out with you was the only one I did,” you said, meeting his large, brown eyes. “There’s no way I could have—”
“You didn’t,” Taehyung agreed, smiling gently. “But your grandmother did. Her name was Lola, right?”
At the mention of your grandmother’s name tears pricked your eyes; she really had planned for everything. She’d taken care of every single thing for you, even until the very end. A breath you didn’t even realise you’d been holding escaped you in a big rush. “Yeah,” you said, trying to ignore the way your eyes were burning. You offered a watery smile, and felt Yoongi move closer, grasping your hand tighter. “That’s her.”
Taehyung’s pleasant eyes were soft as they met yours, a comforting smile on his lips. “She took care of everything— you don’t need to do a single thing. Yoongi is legally under your care.”
It took a second for it to sink in, for both you and Yoongi, but when it did you straightened, eyes shooting wide. “Wait, so we’re— he’s safe? Really?”
Taehyung nodded, and you were unable to contain the short shriek that escaped you before you managed to slap a hand over your mouth. The sheer amount of relief that flooded you, accompanying the realisation that he was free— you were both free— was almost too much. Elation bubbled excitedly behind your ribs, filling your lungs with glee. You turned to Yoongi, ready to throw your arms around him, but he was one step ahead of you.
He took you in his arms, grinning that beautiful gummy smile you’d come to love at the surprised yelp you let out, and spun you about happily. You laughed, and you could hear Taehyung and Hoseok joining you from where they stood at the entrance to the kitchen.
Yoongi was speaking at you so fast, so overcome with happiness that he could finally, for sure, stay with you, that you didn’t have a chance at understanding what he was saying. But that was fine, because you definitely understood what he did next. Your feet brushed the ground and he placed you back on the floor, but you weren’t still for long before he tugged you closer and his hands cupped your cheeks. His lips met yours in a surge of happiness-induced bravery and warmth blossomed in your chest, butterflies fluttering against your ribcage and tickling your insides.
When he pulled back it was with a happy blush, and he tugged you closer once more, burying his face into your neck. Amongst the slight shock and flurry of emotions overtaking your thoughts, you knew one thing.
You’d never been more sure of anything than you were that you truly loved Min Yoongi, the beautiful hybrid your grandmother left in your care.

Cam’s Voltron Fic Rec 3/∞
VLD Rec Lists:  [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] Here’s a Fic Masterlist for my other fandoms. ( ** =  favorites )
    **Recoil/Release by Cheshyr
Word count:  22,387 (13/13)
Summary:  When Keith is bitten by an alien creature with venom that causes your dominant emotions to be amplified, the team is ready for a day of dealing with an incredibly angry paladin.
Which means they’re not ready at all for what actually happens.
Comments:  The almost stream-of-consciousness writing of Keith’s parts are really gut-wrenching because it’s as if you are experiencing it with him. (Warning for panic attacks- if you are triggered at all by that sort of thing you may want to sit this one out, it gets pretty graphic). A couple good song pairings for this fic to set the tone are Broken Crown and World Gone Mad.
    **Synergy by Kokochan & Spanch
Word count:  74,064 (10/10)
Summary:  The vines were large, stiff, gnarly, and thick-stemmed, with blue leaves as big and round as dinner plates, but Shiro’s battle-arm was able to sever several long straggles with ease. The vines draped easily enough over the shuttle and hid it quite handily from view. “Good enough, I suppose,” Shiro said, glaring at the empty greenish-blue sky. “Come on, let’s… Hunk? What’s the matter?”
Hunk was staring at something behind him. “Shiro, don’t make any sudden moves just now, but there’s a really big lizard thing standing right behind you. Um. Two of them.”
Surprised, Shiro turned, albeit carefully. He’d never even heard them approach. That was rather impressive, considering the size of the beasts. It was as though someone had taken a pair of Arizonan horned lizards and rebuilt them more on the lines of a tiger without leaving out any of the spikes, then expanded them to about the size of an Indian elephant and added six large, intelligent blue eyes. Understandably, Shiro froze in place.
Comments: OH. MY. GOSH. OK. SO. This bad boy is Part 1 of 3, so far, with a total series word count of 241,404 at the moment. This beautiful titan of a series is named Of The Pack, and it updates with great speed, considering it has two top tier authors working on it. The several OCs in this story are so lifelike and realistic and fit so well into the universe that I forget that they aren’t actually canon and I kind of miss them when I’m reading other Voltron fics. My favorite part is the world-building it does. Everything about this fic is so dynamic and multi-dimensional, from it’s characters to the epic plot - this is the exact opposite of lazy writing. I am so here for badass Pidge, and the matriarchal Galra culture and the dragons. I👏LOVE👏THIS👏FIC👏
Also there’s magic! (with a scientific explanation, of course)
A cool song that I think goes nice with this fic is Heroes by Måns Zelmerlöw.
The Kids Are Alright by pugglemuggle
Word count:  10,430 (3/3)
Summary:   Three Garrison Cadets Missing After Freak Satellite Crash
By Mara Garrett, News Editor | The Guardian | Monday, June 13, 2103 7:40 A.M. ET
Two seventeen-year-olds and a fifteen-year-old went missing Friday night after a rogue satellite crashed into the desert a few miles away from the Galaxy Garrison Training Facility, reports say. Garrison officials were quick to cordon off the area, claiming many of the remaining satellite fragments were dangerous and unstable. Government search parties have been sent out into the surrounding desert areas. Details are forthcoming.
Her brother is missing. Lance’s sister isn’t about to sit quietly while the Garrison keeps lying to the press. No—she’s going to get to the bottom of this.
(Or: The paladins’ families team up to find their kids and overthrow the corrupt Garrison regime. Told through news articles, prose, the internet, and art.)
Comments:  The format of this is very intriguing and fresh. We get to see scenes of our favorite paladins through the eyes of their friends and families, from before they disappeared and the aftermath. The open ending is still satisfying and leaves you with a sense of determination and hope for these characters that you just couldn’t help but get attached to. If you’re big on government conspiracies then this is the fic for you!
  **Patty Cake by Froldgapp
Word count:  7,829 (6/6)
Summary:  Quiet, aloof, and alone, Keith is distant from the rest of the team. Hunk begins to suspect why, and it’s only when the red paladin pushes himself too far, the Voltron gang realise he’s just as vulnerable as the rest of them.
Comments:  Aaaaahhh this fic. Something about this one has me coming back to reread it all the time even though I always cry. It is just so angsty but in a more poignant, sharp, breathless kind of way. Some of the things the characters say send painful stinging jolts into your chest and you can feel your heart cracking and then you get angry because how dare (I mean ch4 tho holy sh*t). I just want to hug Keith so much ugh. Hunk’s protectiveness of Keith gives me the strength to finish this masterpiece every time. Also, this can kind of be Sheith if you squint (or not, if you don’t).
  The Message by Shipstiel
Word count:  132,787 (45/45)
Summary:  (4:07) okay, but considr this, and hear me out here (4:08) so like, a photobooth u can do with ur pets like there’ll be lil costumes that u can dress them up in, and u can do liek, period costumes and shit with them (4:09) omg, can u imagine, u and ur cat/dog, and theyre in a lil 1800s dress and one of those lace umbrella things omg so cute
(4:15) Why the FUCK are you texting me at four in the morning with this
—
Keith is texted by accident by some idiot one day, and honestly he’s not even sure why he responds. Or why he keeps responding. Yet somehow he finds himself drawn in, and okay, so maybe this fool is mildly entertaining after all. Who would’ve thought.
Comments:  Slowburn Klance Wrong Number AU. These two are so cute I just can’t. This is the perfect story if you are looking for something effortless and relaxing to read. Even though this contains some softcore Langst, it is still a very cute and heartwarming story about two dorks slowly falling in love. It features Lance’s mother who I fell in love with here, and the kind of supportive nosy best friends that everyone wants in real life (i.e. Hunk, Pidge, and Allura).
  **The Quiet by MilkTeaMiku
Word count:  66,700 (32/32)
Summary:  Does he not realize he’s dead?
Keith can see ghosts. As a part of his Garrison training, he’s sent to a hospital to do one year of medical clerkship - it’s there that he meets a charmingly irritating chose who definitely needs to learn what boundaries are.
Comments:  Modern Ghost AU with eventual Klance. This fic is the most suspenseful story I have ever read in my life. Idk if it’s just me, but I just have this feeling building up paragraph by paragraph of an impending… something. And it has my heart racing which is crazy because it isn’t even particularly fast-paced. There’s just a heaviness to the words that have the hairs on the back of your neck prickling. I literally have to take a breather from reading sometimes to calm down.
A couple cool songs I think set the mood for this fic is Smother and Mirror.
  Finding Home by spacegaykogane
Word count:  26,966 (6/6)
Summary:  After the wormhole collapses, Keith finds himself stranded on a strange planet. Alone. Until Lance comes along. With their lions dead and resources limited, Keith and Lance need to put aside their differences and work together to get home. Wherever that may be, now.
Comments:  Klance. I love Stranded fics where they have to work together to survive and bond over that. So yeah this one has some whump obviously, bc you know, crash landings aren’t very fun. This one is angsty but its balanced out by the fluffiness in the end.
  Cuddle Puddle by nothingwrongwiththerain
Word count:  46,782 (6/6)
Summary:  Unexpectedly, Shiro’s hand landed on the top of his head. Apparently with Lance and Hunk taking up all the shoulder real estate, Shiro would settle for ruffling Keith’s hair.
Keith was fairly certain his soul was about to detach and abandon his shaking body on the couch. He was surrounded, in the complete and total sense of the word, by other people. Not once before, not in his whole life, had he dealt with a situation like this one.
Or, five times Keith found himself too close for comfort and one time he couldn't get close enough.
Comments:  Klance featuring ace!Keith. Don’t be fooled by the fluffy summary, this is a very angsty fic with lots of Keith whump. Basically, as stated by the author, this story is about ‘Keith struggling with physical contact and learning to accept people care about him’. I love touch-starved Keith stories, like this one. I love the scenes with Kidge bros, featuring a super supportive Pidge.
  At the Beginning by Sakuraiai
Word count:  64,203 (12/12)
Summary:  Inspired by Anastasia
King Zarkon of the Galra empire lost his only way in to the Kingdom of Altea. In his anger, he put a curse on the royal family. The young, adopted half Galran prince Keith disappeared when the palace was overrun, never to be seen again -- or so it seemed. The only surviving princess, Allura, grieving for her child, offers a reward for Keith's safe return.
Con artists, Lance and his best friend, Hunk plan to pawn off a phony to the princess, hoping to reap the rewards. They hold auditions and choose an orphan man who has a remarkable resemblance to the missing prince -- all the way down to his fluffy Galran ears.
Comments:  Can anyone say Anastasia AU?! I waited with baited breath for each chapter to come out and I was not once disappointed. I love the integration of the different alien races in this timeless story, it all works out so well. Keith just wants to find his mommy and I just want to cry. Also Kidge bros are still my fav as always.
  out of orbit by rbillustration
Word count:  78,135 (19/19)
Summary:  Dragged apart by Haggar’s attack on the wormhole, the paladins and Alteans struggle to survive and find one another again. Luck has placed them all within the same galaxy… but their fortune ends there. Lance is stranded with a badly-injured Shiro and his relief at finding their leader still accompanying him soon turns to terror. Keith may be the only who can rectify the situation - but the Galra have him in their grasp, and they don’t want to kill him. They want him as one of their own.
Comments:  ANGST. SO MUCH ANGST. A brainwashed Galra!Keith plus a Possessed!Shiro. This is the perfect recipe for disaster if I ever saw one. If lots of blood bothers you proceed with caution. I love stranded fics.
A good song rec for this one is Darkside.

My Favorite Ladybug Writers
So I pretty recently joined the Miraculous Ladybug fandom (about 4 months?) and I went on an absolute reading spree but Noticed a lot of the fic rec lists out there are pretty sparse or there's a lot of repetition. And I figured, ya know I just read nearly 300 fics over the last few months I might as well make some recommendations XD
So this is the first of possibly many rec lists Im going to put together for the Ladybug fandom. enjoy!
Quicksilversquared
This writer has 89(!!!) Fanfics out there for Miraculous Ladybug and they are pretty much ALL wonderful. The writing is excellent, characterization on point and there's never a boring moment. And the great thing is that most of these stories (even the serious/heavy ones) have some degree of playfulness to them. This writer never seems to let you walk away without a smile, and that's amazing.
Here are a few of my favorites:
The Cooking Contest - An out-of-class assignment leads to the entirety of the class participating in a cooking competition. …some people do better than others.
the Anniversary - The anniversary of Adrien's mother's disappearance was always difficult. He's sure nothing can make his day any less miserable… ...until a certain spotted superhero shows up.
the Crocodile Glasses - When knock-off copies of Jagged Stone's super-awesome Eiffel Tower start popping up, Jagged is not pleased. Still, it doesn't take long to come up with a solution- he just needs to release his own official line of sunglasses! And naturally, he needs one Marinette Dupain-Cheng to design them for him. Now, if only Marinette could figure out how to execute some of Jagged's more out-there ideas...
Hacking the Ladyblog - Chat Noir likes taking goofy pictures on patrol. That was normal. What was not normal was those photos showing up without any explanation on the Ladyblog.
Princess to the Rescue - Chat Noir gets into a bit of trouble when the akumatized magician Exodus the Spectacular overpowers him in a fight and Ladybug is nowhere to be seen. Thankfully, a baker’s daughter joins the fight. aka Marinette totally has Bo staff fight training and kicks some villain butt.
Cuddles in a Coat - In a lot of ways, Adrien Agreste isn't a normal teenage boy. He's a model, he has a bodyguard, he's secretly a superhero.... But just like any other teenager, he'll stubbornly refuse to admit when an adult was right. Even if he ends up freezing because of it.
Otoshigo Another talented writer is Otoshigo who seems to straddle the border of utterly adorable (see: For the Love of Shoujo ) and Slightly twisted (See: Benefactor ) or even dark. This writer can play the characters as the awkward blushing teens they are, and they can just as easily (and convincingly!!!) twist their perceptions ever so slightly toward something deeper (and slightly terrifying)
Some of the stories CAN be really weird and out there, but hey, read the tags so you know what you’re getting into and you won't have any trouble. (shrugs)
Some more of my favorites include:
27 Secrets - “Secrets,” Chat purred, waving the photo out like a little flag. “I want secrets. Twenty-seven pictures worth of secrets. And you’ll give them to me. One picture at a time.” [Shameless Marichat]
Caught and Captured - Adrien gets caught in a little lie, that somehow only spirals more and more out of control. Is there any way to pull himself out of it? Does he even want to? [Adrienette]
(Adrien acts like cat noir around Marinette and she thinks they've body-swapped. X3 This story Is simultaneously hilarious and heart-wrenching)
Marinette Saves the World - Through a series of unfortunate events, average and clumsy Marinette meets a boy from the future! Who says that he needs to have sex with her to save the world? Except no. Just... no.
(OMG this one!!! Drop what you’re doing and read it NOW!!! It's so freaking sweet and seriously romantic!!!)
Guilty Pleasures - An anonymous writer is a little too good at writing fanfiction and Marinette somehow gets roped into reading it. Problem is, now she can’t put it down. [LadyNoir]
Chat Noir: Calendar Edition - Marinette’s class has to come up with an idea to make some cash for their upcoming class trip. However, things go awry with their plan and somehow Chat Noir gets involved. All Marinette wants is to go to Nice with Adrien. Can she make it through this without losing her mind?
Clairelutra Next up is Clairelutra who seems to make it a goal to melt her readers to piles of goo with sexual tension so thick you COULDN'T cut it with a knife. (Almost all her stories are rated as at least T) but, (as much as I love sexual tension and smut in a fic) That’s far from all this writer brings to the table. Clairelutra is a master at grabbing a readers heart and "puppeteering" (puppeteer, haha) it any way she so chooses.
Whether she deigns to make you tear up and/or cry : ( see: river flows in you) Or gets your heart racing in her action scenes ( see: welcome to the show) or makes your toes curl during a kiss ( ALSO see: welcome to the show, and Bang Bang, and... ahem. well there are a lot.) And there's that (WONDERFUL AMAZING PRECIOUS) element of tenderness and longing in just about EVERY romantic scene that just KILLS me every time.
Anyway, some of my favorites of hers include:
gonna miss this someday - “I mean, am I just too clingy?” Chat asked her ceiling, reclining on her lounge and tossing a spare ball of yarn up and down as Marinette beaded with a vengeance. “I know it’s just one day, but I miss her.”(When Ladybug misses their nightly friend-date, Chat asks Marinette for girl advice.)
i think it’s time i told you (i’m a fan of your universe) - “...Something up, minou?” He didn’t answer her at first, staying silent as he opened his palm and stared at it. Or rather, stared at the ring in it.
Ladybug stared, almost unseeing, at the blood-red stone nestled in its bed of diamonds, and wondered why it suddenly felt like she couldn’t breathe.
(It wasn’t necessarily an engagement ring, right? She... she would’ve known if he had a lover, wouldn’t she? Chat was too much of a hopeless romantic to not gush about a significant other to anyone who would listen if he had one... right?
It could be a memento or a gift or... something. Something that didn’t imply Chat was about to get married.)
“...Have you ever thought about getting married?” ...Or not.
you're really my dearest friend - Sometimes, the process of getting out is much more difficult than it really should be — but sometimes friends can help, if you let them.
we're the kids your mama warned you about - (A collection of PWP oneshots, mostly focusing on Ladynoir/the love square, as I try to teach myself how to sin.)
hot mess - (the sequel to Bang Bang ) ...What did one say to one's vigilante partner when said partner was in costume and he was in a bathrobe? What did one say to the lady who had pinned him to a wall and kissed him senseless, not knowing he was her partner? What did one say to the girl he had been in love with for years when he was alone with her in his room at night? "Come here often, beautiful?" Not that. Imthepunchlord Oh wow, here's a writer who knows how to balance playful with exciting really well. A lot of their fics are action/adventure driven plots and they know how to build up to that big fight at the end without making you spend half the fic dreading it. There's always too much happening for you to feel much besides excitement. Which, honestly, I LOVED about these stories.  They keep the ball rolling at a great pace and never seems to rely on exposition when they can just show you something. And that lends itself to the feeling of being right there in the story with the character. (A MUST for any good action/adventure) This writer also knows how to stretch the rules with magic and the kwami juuust right to make everything fit and still be believable (a gift if ever I saw one)
Some of my favorites from Iamthepunchlord are:
Marinette and the Seven Little Gods - Marinette been down on her luck, waiting for the day karma would give her something good, something that would make her life better! She wasn't expecting karma to give her a box, a box with seven little gods in it.
Over the Wall - The accident, while unintentional, was costly. For her wrong doings against Chloe, Marinette is sent over the wall to die. But instead of death, she winds up in a strange, unnerving world. Good thing she'll have a cat to watch her back in this bizarre place. (inspired by a mix of movies and shows: Stardust, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, Secret of Moonacre, and Over the Garden Wall.)
Trouble in White - Finding your soulmate is supposed to be uplifting, and amazing, and just... miraculous. But for Marinette, it wasn't any of that. Her soulmate, he... he was... What does one do when your soulmate is an akuma?
The Ladybug and The Mer - When Captain Ladybug is lost at sea, she finds herself saved by one of the most dangerous sea beings in the world: a mer. (Merman Adrien AU)
Always a Hero, No Matter the Miraculous - (a LARGE series) it covers a big variety of  Miraculous/kwami swaps. Including such favorites as:
Rise of Mariposa - Where Marinette is chosen by the butterfly to help Cat Noir in his fight against Harlequin who has taken possession of the ladybug miraculous for her own selfish gain.
& the short: Delicate Wings - Where Adrien is the butterfly helping ladybug fight the evil black cat from afar.
Kindness from a Stray - where Adrien and Marinette have kwami swapped (There are several shorts like this, all equally funny/cute)
A Declaration of Love - Adrien is the fox and Marinette is the peacock <3
(oh GOD I love this one. it's an all-time favorite. It’s very sweet and playful and its done so well that it just WORKS. I love the conflict of his feather allergy keeping Adrien (AKA Malin) from his beloved Belle Bleue XD)
Freedom_Shamrock If fluff is your thing PLEASE check this writer out!!! Freedom_Shamrock is a master of cuddles, snuggles, and hugs. Their stories just exude a soft comforting vibe that sinks into your bones and stays there for the rest of the day. But they are also INTERESTING. The conversations are memorable, The plots are intriguing and the characterization is lovely. If you want something sweetly romantic to read look no further.
Some of my personal favorites include:
Something Familiar - Marinette is a teenage witch, and it's time for her to find a familiar. (Witch AU, no kwamis, Adrien never got to go to school) ( HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!! Cutest cat!Adrien fic EVER )
A Little Light - (series)  its basically an adorable series where Adrien notices Marinette on his own and asks her out. It follows up with their first date, some problems with dating while being a superhero,  and then an accidental reveal. (every bit of this one is SO SO CUTE.)
Hugdrien (AKA: Adrien Needs Hugs) - (series) With this one the name pretty much says it all. It’s a series of stories where Adrien is having a tough time at home and Marinette and their friends/her family are there for him.
Miraculous Acts of Kindness - (series) this series is basically a slowburn MariChat fic XD It’s super cute and fluffy but also leads into Mature waters so be aware of that! BullySquadess   @bullysquadess
Here's another writer who's clearly out to melt her readers with sexual tension But BullySquadess is out to do it with a goddamn VENGEANCE. (and she WILL make you laugh yourself to death getting there) Her stories are drop dead sexy and SUPER funny. It's the kind of well-built humor that has you cackling so loud people can hear you across the house and forces you to take breaks from reading just to BREATHE. I think the best part of this writers style for me is the hopeful longing she just pulls out of Chat like its the most natural thing in the world. It’s so so so so so sweet and it plays to his character perfectly. and she gets it just right every time.   word of caution: the writer multi-ships so if you don't dig it then check the tags before getting invested. XD
My favorites of hers include:
The Ladybugs and The Bees - Ladybug and Chat Noir tackle teenhood! Watch our heroes face the realities of growing up- surviving puberty and akuma alike as together they navigate the unknown pitfalls of love and first-time intimacy. Also dick jokes. There's like... alot of dick jokes.
Oh man who hasn't read this one? It's been on like every fic rec list i could find when i first joined the fandom. But oh WOW does it deserve it.  This sucker is 38 (!!!) chapters long so far (!!??) and I've read it THREE TIMES. I joined the fandom like FOUR months ago! And yet I keep coming back to this one becouse it's just SO GOOD.
Seven Minutes - Post-Reveal, Adrien and Marinette continue to play chicken with their feeling. Alya, however, has other games in mind...
Live by the Ladybutt - Chat likes Ladybug's Ladybutt. Ladybug likes that Chat likes her Ladybutt. Crack ensues.
Casual - Ladybug has grown exceptionally comfortable with her partner... which means Chat Noir is #suffering.
The Pitfalls Of Being a Wingman - We all know the classic Marichat tale, but what's happening behind the scenes of our favorite duo's love-making?   (AKA Plagg regrets everything and it’s HILARIOUS) XDD
Cohabitation (And Other Disastrous Ideas) - These two best friends decide to move in together, what happens next will shock you! (Or not, considering all roommate fics end up the same anyhow.) thelastpilot
Oh man, all of this writer's stories have this element of almost poetic beauty to them that it's really hard to describe the style. There's never a word or a scene wasted with this writer. It's all about slowly building up that relationship brick by brick, SEEING the characters getting closer and closer with every new meeting and then finishing it off in a MASSIVELY fulfilling way. The humor is top notch too but it seems to take a backseat to the plot and considering how well done the plot typically is I have no problem with that.
word of caution- This writer multi-ships so If you're like me and looking for a specific pairing remember to check the tags! XD
My personal favorites of this writer include:
Won't Tell a Soul - Nino accidentally runs head long into the biggest most stressful secret he can imagine, but now that he knows the truth about Marinette he is determined to help her in any way he can. (Adrien Agreste/Marinette Dupain-Cheng)
& Its sequel: The Weight of Jade - which shockingly (for this list) centers around Nino/Alya. This writer really knows how to get their characters across in all the best ways. This is one of the few times in fanfiction I really found myself really enjoying a side character's story and that's something HUGE.
Rainy Days - A storm rolls through Paris and refuses to let up, so when a water fearing cat is rescued by the kind efforts of his designing classmate he starts to pay a little closer attention to someone he should have always known better.
Quiet Ice, Silent Nights - Cat Noir is on a late night patrol when he catches sight of an elegant lone figure skater, and is surprised to discover it is his classmate Marinette.
Okay, this one is simply put, a work of ART. It is beautiful. The way the writer lovingly describes the ice skating and (spoilers: the piano scenes) makes you really FEEL the beauty of the moment. It’s so lovely.~ Seriously, drop what you're doing and read this if you haven't already
Paw Problems - (An alternate version of the Animan Episode) The class has taken a field trip to the zoo, but when Kim starts being a jerk and creates a major situation, are Ladybug and Cat Noir going to be enough to get everyone out on two feet? Or are the classmates going to need to get used to paws, hooves, and talons? Sadly, this one's unfinished. But let me say I LOVED the little snippets of humor in this, especially Chloe's animal form and Nino's reaction to it. XD KryallaOrchid The style KryallaOrchid uses is pretty similar to Quicksilversquared in that the stories all have some degree of playfulness and humor to them ( I love that in fics) but they also aim for something a little deeper too. this writer likes to play on the idea of rightness between the characters and builds off it as they go. (I'm all for the 'soulmate' vibe Adrien and Marinette have going on)
Some favorites are:
Tendencies - (series) Miraculous have side effects. From pats becoming a necessity to eating flowers, follow Adrien and Marinette as they come to terms with their new tendencies, and each other. Hawk Moth is coming.
This is a LOOOOOONG series and makes for a very entertaining read.
Sting - When Chat Noir inexplicably disappears, leaving Ladybug bee-hind to face Papillon on her own, a new wielder is chosen to keep the akuma from swarming. Ladybug is adamant she doesn’t want another partner buzzing around and why is this new-bee flirting with her? Meanwhile, Adrien just wishes Ladybug would stop bugging out and listen to him because his bee puns are fuzz-tastic.
I seriously went into this one thinking I wasn't going to like it and I ended up falling head over heels for it. Sting is SO worth the read. Watching poor Ladybug freak out over her missing partner (sending him voicemails wondering where he is and trying to reassure him she's not 'replacing' him with this new bee hero and that she's going to get him back ) Is so SO SOO heart wrenching and sweet.
(and thankfully Adrien DOES manage to get through to her that  Chat IS 'Bumblebee’ fairly early on so we aren't left stewing in angst FOREVER)
Reflections - The mirror shows you how you truly are, but for a Miraculous holder, it shows what was. All Marinette can see is ghosts and she doesn’t want to become one. (A heart-wrencher for SURE but the ending was SO worth it.) ---

This is not spoiler-free
I finally saw Yuukyuu no Toki today ! I had a seat almost at the very back of the hall but I still had a pretty nice view of the whole stage. And given how small the hall was, I'm happy I got a seat at all^^ Sambart93 already posted a pretty detailed summary of the stage so I won't go into that much detail about the plot. (Especially since I usually watch Messiah DVDs with my dictionary, so it was harder to follow live XD)
I don’t have a scanner but I’ll see if I can find a good scanner app to share the pamphlet pictures. They’re gorgeous.
Yuukyuu was better than I expected, but I didn't expect a lot to be honest. The "new" Messiah series hasn't convinced me so far. I thought Akatsuki and Polar Night had too many plots with little impact on one another, too many characters, and consequently a lack of focus on character development. I found many returning characters OOC, too. And I liked about half of the new characters^^
BUT I thought Yuukyuu actually did better ! There are still too many plots and too many characters, but at least there was some sort of link between them all. Like Ariga and Itsuki's graduation mission is to kill Ichijima, who is pretending to ally with the Hanged Man, who's based around the Tower of Babel, which is the target of a more general Sakura mission. And the two runaways have a way to hack into the Tower of Babel. Cheka also associating with the Hanged Man was... weird, but given how he ended up in Akatsuki I can believe it. The only thing that felt really out of place was Salyut looking for his father among the Spectres. Like, why now and not while he was working with Cheka ? Why does he have a partner if it's not an official mission ? What's the link with everything else ? I'm sure we'll have answers later, but that's also a thing with the new Messiah : they're too aware they're a series and are bad at foreshadowing ans cliffhangers. In the previous series, while stories were evolving, each stage was a complete story. So yeah, not that it important, but it felt very random.
And despite having too many characters, I thought most of them were well developped. Returning characters did not feel OOC this time ! (Especially Ichijima. I had been so disappointed in Akatsuki and Polar Night despite him being like my second favourite character.) Yugi and Mayo-sama got just the right amount of cryptic discussions to be interesting and likeable while I really didn't like them before. Hinamori's introduction was so, so, so random (almost like Ichijima pulled the first guy passing by and decided he'd be Kogure's Messiah XD), but he had a great personality and Yamamoto Ikkei was so good at playing him, I loved him instantly. I think he and Kogure have great potential to work together !! And I also liked Kogure starting as his usual self and slowly losing it throughout the play ! That gave him depth he didn't necessarily have before. Kuroko and Dr Three were good surprises too. I've been gradually warming up to Kuroko but in general I just find him cringy +_+ And here I think there was just the right balance between comic relief and actual character. He was a great leader for Sakura and I was glad to see Ichijima acknowledge that ! (Actually they were pretty friendly with each other in this play, I was surprised.) Dr Three was still mostly the same character, but I liked that he eventually played along with Kuroko's antics ! He did feel like that kind of character before, and I'm glad he's now allowed to be a bit silly too. Finally, I expected to not care about the two runaways, but they were very very cute. They felt like stereotypical shounen protagonists, though, with their promise from long ago of one day leaving the island together XD I'd be ok with not seeing them ever again, but they weren't the annoyance I feared. I think they were also portrayed very well, because I felt a lot of things from them despite them not having too much stage time. (I was delighted to see Murata Mitsu, but I'm 0 % ok with the plot twist of him actually being an old friend of Ariga =_=)(But that's me generally disagreeing with every new Messiah story XD)(That's a trend they have now where everyone is related to everyone and just NO.)(And having Ariga kill him, even with Itsuki, goes against all the character development he’s had since he killed Mamiya ! He said NEVER AGAIN ><)
Actually, in addition to the "everyone is related" terrible idea, they should really leave alone the people who are gone. Like why did Mamoru and Kaito have to have helped several times in significant ways during this stage ? Aren't there MORE THAN ENOUGH CHARACTERS who could do the job ? And just STOP WITH MAMIYA. Mamiya had an amazing story with a great conclusion, I loved it, but they're really destroying everything that was great about it by just adding and adding. Itsuki trying to play the violin was both OOC and extremely cruel. Good thing he got shot before he could really play, despite it meaning that Ariga has now shot ANOTHER violin-playing Messiah T__T
Other random things I wrote down :
- At several points during the stage I laughed because I wanted to do the Messiah drinking game where you finish your drink when someone should have died from gun shots XD There were SO MANY people who were shot at close range in pretty vital areas and still survived. Sometimes still stood and talked. Special mention to the Hanged Man, who was double shotted by Itsuki and Ariga and still got up to talk then shoot himself XD Honorable mentions : Itsuki, Ariga, Kogure and Mayo-sama ! (And maybe Ichijima. My goodness, my heart stopped when I thought he was shot dead +_+)
- Ichijima and Kogure went full CLAMP on us, with the only important part of their discussion being whispered in Kogure's ear >o< But omg I was so impressed, because from the beginning there were people speculating on the internet that Ichijima and Kogure were related and I was just rolling my eyes like "Come on, just because he has glasses..." AND YET ! That's what Kogure wanted to ask Ichijima O_O And it was obvious enough that Ichijima guessed it O_O
- Hinamori stole the show for me XD Instantly. And yet his first appearance has him getting into a face-grabbing match with Kuroko XD (He called him Momose-chan and that was the cutest thing ever, too.) I'm forever sad I didn't get exactly WHY he resented Ichijima, though T__T Well, the DVD and my dictionary will be there in due time XD
- Yugi and Mayo-sama managed to break my heart in one conversation. With Yugi saying god doesn't exist and he wants to kill the 'divine child' who lead the cult he was part of. I didn't think he'd open up that much. And Mayo looked so so depressed, but also relieved, because he wants to be killed by Yugi >o< I don't know why him specifically, but apparently Mayo is tired of the fact that he can't die, an interesting twist for a guy with the same curse as Eiri. (Though in Mayo's case it might be litteral XD)
- At the end of the play I almost thought Ariga was really going to kill Ichijima, but then he beautifully mirrored the scene at the beginning when Ichijima spared and recruited him <3<3 Amazing. Thank you Ariga.
- During the play I kept thinking "well Murata Mitsu isn't that tall actually, Nakahara Yuuya and Izawa Yuuki come really close". Then when they were all lined up to bow, I realised that no, he is really really tall, more than anyone else XD
- Itsuki and Ariga's post-graduation outfits were super cool. I loved Ariga's flowing coat and Itsuki had a nice wild style. That made the girls next to me feel better, because during the second half of the play they were all crying XD (I wasn't. But I was gasping a lot^^)
- ... Yamaoki Yuuki is a father ???? I didn't know that. He was the one who had a special speech for the curtain call, and he told us about his son and I was like "YOU'RE THE SAME AGE AS MY LITTLE BROTHER YOU CAN'T HAVE A BABY". Hashimoto Shinichi and Yamamoto Ikkei made fun of him and at some point he lost his train of thoughts XD Then the same thing happened when Izawa Yuuki was speaking and Sugie Taishi was being silly behind his back XD
.... There were other things but this has gotten long enough already^^

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
‘FEYRE IS IMMORTAL. After rescuing her lover Tamlin from a wicked Faerie Queen, she returns to the Spring Court possessing the powers of the High Fae. But Fayre cannot forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people – nor the bargain she made with Rhysand, High Lord of the Feared Night Court. As Feyre is drawn ever deeper into Rhysand’s dark web of politics and passion, war is looming and an evil far greater than any queen threatens to destroy everything Feyre has sought for. She must confront her past, embrace her gifts and decide her fate. SHE MUST SURRENDER HER HEART TO HEAL A WORLD TORN IN TWO.’
Book Review: *Spoiler Alert* This book is soooooo good. I thought A Court of Thorns and Roses was good… every time I would put down this book, thinking that I had enough reading for the day, I would always end up back reading the book. It was so engrossing that I didn’t want to stop reading it until I got to the end. Only sleep and uni got between me and this book. This book was so good, that whilst I was reading, I did not critically analyse it. I just wanted to find out what happened next. It is only after I read the book, that I started to analyse things. This is easily now my favourite book.
After reading this book, I went and listened to the audiobook, and it is just as good as read aloud. I really liked the narration of Jennifer Ikeda. I would gladly listen to her all day. And her narration of Rhys was sooo good. I am tempted to listen to A Court of Wings and Ruin, but I don't know if I want to dedicate that time right now. Probably in the future, I’ll listen to it. The audiobook was easily a 10/10 or a 5/5. Now onto the book.
I knew that Feyre and Rhysand would get together in this book, because of Tumblr. I was hesitant to get on board with Feyre and Rhysand being a couple, because I liked Tamlin in A Court of Thorns and Roses. But I was swayed. My OTP is now Feyre and Rhysand. I really like how the romance between them was gradual in this book, and how Feyre got over Tamlin slowly. How Feyre understood at the same time as us, just how badly Tamlin was treating her. I can understand protecting Feyre, but Tamlin was being so obsessive that I can understand why she would not want to marry him. Imagine how much worse Tamlin would get if Feyre would get pregnant…
I like the fact that the events of A Court of Thorns and Roses is still with Feyre in this book. It made me sympathise with Feyre so much, it just made me want to hug her. I understand that killing two faeries would damage Feyre mentally, but I liked how it connected the two books. I hated the fact that Tamlin would never wake up and help Feyre, when she would wake up and vomit. Like bitch, she is your fiancé, the least you could do is hold her hair back and tell her it was just a dream. Rhys was far more caring in A Court of Thorns and Roses when he would play music to stop her from breaking (you find this out in this book). Tamlin did NOTHING to help Feyre. Talking about Tamlin doing nothing, he literally did nothing when Rhys came in and took Feyre to the Night Court. Like mate… he just took the person you apparently love and you’re not going to put up a fight. If that was me, I would be like… you clearly don’t love me if you gave up that easily. Also, when she came back from the Night Court, he literally interrogated her. He asked her if she was alright, and then was like tell me everything you know. How romantic. If I was Tamlin, I would have treated her, spoiled her, and tell her that she can tell me about the Night Court when she is ready, if she even wanted to. It was just the wrong way to go about it. Everything Tamlin did was the wrong way to go about it in this book. I did love it when Feyre went behind Tamlin’s back and gave the water wraith her jewels for her to pay for the tithe, and how she defended her actions after Tamlin refused to make an exception. This was one of my favourite parts of the book, along with the water wraiths saving Feyre and Amren when they almost drowned trying to get the Faerie book part in the Summer Court, and Amren was surprised that they saved them.
I also loved the character development of Feyre, she went from a submissive girl who would do anything she was told, to the embodiment to fire and will. I love Feyre. She went from a victim, to a person who defended the helpless of Velaris. The High Lady of the Night Court. I liked how she was able to not think of her own safety, but those of others. Her selfless nature is one of the many things that I love about her.
Feyre and Rhysand… omg this couple will kill me I swear. I love them together. I didn’t think I would. I thought I would still be Feyre and Tamlin. Maas writes so well. I forgot just how well that she writes. I love how Rhys treated Feyre like an equal. He let her do what she wanted, and didn’t lock her up in her room/house like Tamlin did. I also really like the character development of Rhys. He goes from someone mysterious in A Court of Thorns and Roses, to one of the characters that you know best in this one. You can see his hesitation to love Feyre, because he has lost everything that he has loved, and just how far he would go to keep her safe, but not stifle her. Rhys wanted her true self, Tamlin just wanted a trophy. OMG the way that they admitted their love for each other. The way Feyre accepted the mating bond. OTP. It made tears form in my eyes. It was just so sweet and so well-deserved for both of them. They best get their happy ending.
Rhys’s mother seems really interesting from the anecdotes we got from this story. I would happily buy a novella all about her. She seems like the type of gal I’d like. I would like to read more about her relationship with Rhys’s father, or see Rhys’s when he was younger. I just really liked the fact that she gave her ring to the Weaver, and told Rhys that his mate would have to be clever or strong enough to get the ring back, otherwise she would not survive the relationship. I really hope that it is foreshadowing that Rhys and Feyre will survive this series.
Let’s talk about the supporting characters. I absolutely loved the Night Court’s inner circle. I loved Azriel, Amren, Cassian and Mor. I really want Azriel and Mor to get together. I want Azriel to admit his feelings, and Mor be like hell yeah. I want them to be mates, and Azriel being the one who knows, but doesn’t want to admit it. I really like Cassian too. I hope that his mate is Nesta because I feel like they would go well together. Cassian isn’t afraid to call out Nesta (which I really enjoyed reading), so I would also ship them. Amren really intrigued me. I loved her. I love it when you have female characters that people are afraid of, but also respect. I would so want to be her. I hope we get to know a bit of her background/origin in A Court of Wings and Ruin. None of these four best not die. I would cry so hard if any of them died. Another supporting character (but not really) that I want to talk about it Lucien. I was severely disappointed that he did not step in when he saw how Feyre was. He did nothing. He was just as responsible as Tamlin at abandoning Feyre. I loved the confrontation between Feyre and Lucien. He needed to hear that he abandoned her. He chose Tamlin, over the health of Feyre. I hope that by his mate being Elain, that he eventually chooses to side with Feyre in the upcoming war. That he changes his mind, because I did like him a lot in A Court of Thorns and Roses.
I didn’t realise until this book that the wall that separates the mortal and immortal realm, that is surrounded with magic… reminds me a lot of another wall… what could I be thinking of, you ask? Why Game of Thrones of course. The plot about the King of Hybern wanting to invade Prythian and take back the human lands, remind me a lot of the Night King’s plan with Westeros. I am not worried about it becoming too similar though, because Maas tends to have a common idea or theme and makes it her own. I really like her books and her writing style. I loved the ending. It was action packed and revealed a lot of things. It also set the tone for the next book. Yet nothing bad particularly happened (which I love). I literally can’t wait to read the next book, because it’s going to be so good! So many things are going to happen!
I give this book a 10/10 or a 5/5. This book is my new favourite book. The hype around this book is fricking justified. I loved everything about it. I just hope that there will be a good ending at the end of this series. Feyre and Rhys needs to be happy at the end of it. I would recommend it to fans of fantasy books, but it does have some mature content so I wouldn’t allow young teenagers to read it, lest they get some ideas. I would also recommend it to fans of romance, or people that want to get completely engrossed with the characters and the plot. There is no way in hell will I donate this book, but I would let my friends borrow it to get on the hype train. It was a fantastic book. I can’t wait to read the next book!
Love Lou xx
