i actually think so high school fits perfectly. as the certified swiftie analysis blog, i shall defend it here:

like the other songs on this album, So High School refers to themes & images she's talked about throughout her career. She's referred to that teenager heady kinda love & excitement across fearless, like in you belong with me or love story, and also things like high school sports in fifteen. She's revisited those ideas and images in other albums. Suburban legends is set in a suburban, high school setting, describing a crush and doomed love. In I Think He Knows, she describes her being in love like being 17 & nobody understands, and MAATHP is a long high school & sports metaphor. She revisits those ideas on evermore with dorothea and tis the damn season, though she seems to be drawing from more retrospective ideas there. So I think So High School is emblematic of those themes and images coming up across her career

But it's more than that, too. It describes her tendency to rush headfirst (fearless lol) into love and feel that giddiness of the first blush of love, like a teenager. She also examines how she has the tendency to bolt from one love to another here and elsewhere on the album with other songs that describe how she's hoping that the next love will save her, change her, be the one, fulfill fate's plan for her to meet the one, etc

So, on an album that not only refers to recurring events throughout her career, but that's also very self-reflective & introspective, I think it makes perfect sense to have that sort of song on it.

You did also convince him to have a matching, very sparkly, 13 on his hand. Just then, the stage lights up. You both jump up in your seats. Over the years you had been dating, you managed to turn him into a certified Swiftie. 

Normally, you were pretty shy. Outside of talking to victims or families on cases, you weren’t very social and tended to stay pretty quiet. But at that moment, you didn’t care how ridiculous you looked. You were seeing your all time favorite artist, with the man you loved, surrounded by thousands of other people who were just like you. Funky Cat Club !

funky cat club — this band DOES NOT make funk music. a rock group formed in 2016 independently by best friends jeon minki, huh yunjin, roseanne park, xu minghao, and kim gyuvin. their song "what if.." became viral after being the soundtrack for the drama "while you were sleeping," which got them a contract with the black label. since then, their success has only risen up.

minki — leader, vocalist, and guitar on funky cat club. also writes and composes most of their songs. their best friend in the whole world is rosé. somi, their younger sister, is their soft spot. loves playing league of legends. completely unaware.

rosé — main guitar on funky cat club. composes sometimes too. desperately wants a girlfriend. tired of trying to put together minki's life when she can't even deal with hers.

gyuvin — bassist and main producer on funky cat club. youngest member of the band, but acts like he's a 50 year old deranged man. he wants to look mysterious, but he's just weird af. he's every member's baby, but especially minki's. super friendly, actually.

yunjin — keyboardist on funky cat club. also composes. second youngest of the group and certified gen z kid. incredibly extroverted. minki is her partner in crime (against their will). swiftie. just randomly friends with everyone on the industry.

minghao — drums on funky cat club. also produces. he can't believe that's the name of the band he's in. he just wanted somewhere to play and ended up here. dad of the group, but in like a 'would sell my kids for a bag of takis' kind of way.

OKAY SO.

i didn't have any friendship bracelets because honestly i could not be fucked making them and they generally just aren't really my thing. so i wasn't on the hunt to trade but two nice girls offered me bracelets (one girl spotted my arm lyric and gave me a speak now one and another girl gave me a dbtc one as we were leaving the stadium) which was very sweet of them!

i'm very VERY glad i didn't watch heaps of livestreams or the tour movie because while i was definitely familiar with most of the show i still felt like there were little details that surprised me!!

i may have gotten teary at the opening. it truly cannot be overstated just HOW emotional of a moment that is.

the bracelets during yntcd are so so gorgeous!

i had gone through 500 emotions by the time the lover set had ended and i knew i was in for an exhausting (in a good way) night

fearless really is THAT album like even if it's not high up on your ranking i really don't think you can be a swiftie without appreciating that album and everything it represents and what it did for her career

i had NO IDEA the intro for willow would be like that and it took me so off guard

her champagne problems speech was so!! ahh!!! i felt like the lover + fearless sets were fairly "rehearsed" in their crowd interaction (not that that's a bad thing!!) but in the evermore set she really started to open up and pour out her emotions.

i was surprised that she talked about the flashlights for marjorie because i assumed that was just something the crowd did every night and she would be used to it by now but she seemed genuinely touched by it tonight!

i also didn't know she talked to the crowd after the champagne problems applause so that was a really nice surprise!

the don't blame me/lwymmd transition was mindblowing as predicted

i simply cannot imagine a version of this tour without long love in it

i will NOT be hearing a single bad word about the red set going forwards. yes it's all the hits and none of the deep cuts but they are HITS for a reason!! i simply cannot make the hits not hit!

TELL HIM HE'S DREAMING

the folklore set is an interesting one. i was predicting it to be my fave as a certified folklore girlie and it was amazing BUT i felt like having it placed directly after atw10 put it in a spot where i was feeling VERY drained and i really had to work to pick myself up to get back into it.

everything after this felt very rapid fire like 1989 was just a barrage of major hits!!!! incredible just how many hits that album produced

the SYDNEY chant was a lot of fun

she sang should've said no (thereby declaring debut rights) and i screamed. then she sang you're not sorry one of my fave fearless songs and i screamed. then she mashed up new years day and peace and i screamed.

idk if i imagined this but while singing peace when she sang "would it ever be enough" it looked like she shook her head and it had me :(

the midnights set had my fave visuals of the whole show methinks

no "karma is the guy on the chiefs" for us tonight but i'm sure it was felt in spirit ❤️

Let's discuss exactly how much a Swiftie each of them is

(Just for the record, one of the first things I did after watching the game was make a TikTok about how unrealistic it is that the game takes place in the summer of 2021 and yet not a single one of them makes a joke about "not dying before hearing the 10 minute version of All Too Well" and I STAND BY THAT)

But anyway, I think the certified Swifties of the group would be Kaitlyn, Dylan, and Emma. Kaitlyn and Dylan based on vibes and Emma based on the fact we share a name and have almost nothing else in common, so she's a Swiftie because I say so.

Dylan's the longest serving Swiftie. I think he's pretty much always been a music boy, and when he first heard You Belong With Me at like age 8 he was going through his first kiddie crush on a boy in his class, and just went "This lady gets it. She has my undying devotion."

Kaitlyn's been one since 1989 (age 14) because she doesn't do country music. Even as a tween she was very firm on that stance. (She eventually made an exception for Taylor but it took like a year of obsession with 1989 for her to go "alright what else has she got")

Emma's actually a post-Reputation Swiftie. Like completely missed the drama of 2016 and just caught the LWYMMD music video at the VMAs when it premiered and went "OK slay?" and advanced from there. (She's sad to have missed the OG Red era but THRIVES in the Red TV era if she lives to see it)

None of the others would call themselves Swifties, but in order from closest to farthest from it:

Max is honestly pretty close to being a Swiftie. Like he had Ariana Grande playing in his car at the start of the game, he feels no shame whatsoever in listening to pop music. His favorite album is Lover, because duh.

Laura listens to Taylor almost as much as Max does, but he usually initiates it. She doesn't have a favorite album, but her favorite song is Blank Space.

Jacob doesn't listen much but he could name most of the singles. He's definitely made a TikTok to a Love Story remix.

Abi does not give Swiftie vibes at all, I'm sorry to say. Post-game Emma might convert her, though.

Ryan, my sweet boy. I love him so much and it is with a heavy heart that I say he does not listen to Taylor Swift. NOT in a toxic masculinity way, he just doesn't vibe with pop music. On the other hand... Sarah is a baby Swiftie. She's played music where he can hear it enough that he can actually name some songs and say his favorite is My Tears Ricochet. (Also he has a soft spot for Shake It Off after Dylan played it for the kids at camp a bunch of times) (Also also post-game Sarah does a midnight listen to Red TV and Ryan hears his middle school age sister sobbing across the hall to ATWTMVTVFTV and has to interrupt like "Who hurt you?? halloween "1989" fic

ok so! this one is a deleted scene from the exes to lovers au, that i decided was a bit to cracky so i'm doing it separately

so when i was writing the "exes to lovers au" last year 1989 taylor's version had just come out, and it reminded me of 2014 when 1989 first came out and i listened to it on repeat while reading e/r fanfic. i thought that was so full circle and nice and that inspired this lol

the whole plot is so "he would not fucking do that" but it's fun and i like it:

it's enjolras dressing up as "1989 taylor's version" for halloween (which was timely then bc the album came out just before halloween last year) which means basically i get to put my favourite barbie in a very short skirt and thigh high boots and red lipstick.

and somewhere along the way grantaire ended up doing a last minute James Dean costume just so i could throw the Style reference in there

even though it's very cracky and 100% "playing with my barbies" writing its come along well and gets really angsty at the end 👏🏻
