[rant] (tw/cw: sa, very short description down in the tags)

#i haven't had a night this shitty in ages #i fall asleep normally #wake up at 3am on a wet pillow bc my left eye has been producing tears all night #i almost start screaming bc my eye hurts so bad making me think there's smth in there #i spend 30 excruciating minutes trying to get that smth out of my eye #using up a whole toilet roll with my tears and snot #only to not find anything in my eye #then I proceed to aggressively gaslight myself to make myself believe there's nothing in my eye #which miraculously works #and I go back to bed #i'm freezing atp bc I went to the unheated bathroom with only my sleep clothes and no shoes on my tile floor #but i manage to fall back asleep #and start dreaming the most horrendous out of pocket bullshit #i take the bus n forget both my fav tour jacket + phone in it #i know the route tho so i go to another stop and wait for it to come back around #i get on and it's full of high school students #and one creepy dude i avoid #some of the students ask me if i'm a new student which I thought was v funny bc i'm too old for high school by a few yeara #i start chatting with some of them #but i turn around at one point and suddenly that creepy guy hugs me and starts touching my ass #he's much bigger than me so i can't get him off and I ask the puny high schoolers to help me #but no one lifts a finger #i say fuck it and give him the kratos/poseidon treatment #both my thumbs on both his eyes and I push into them #he starts letting go but i also start feeling the pain in my left eye as if i'm kratosing my own eyes #and just before i let go i wake up #like???????#dearest subconscious what the fuck are you trying to tell me #don't answer cause i don't wanna know #n e ways

Just realised that the reason I can't easily write (or at all) in the evenings and/or when C is at preschool has less to do with my mental exhaustion (though that definitely plays a part), and more with the fact that I'm stuck in fucking wait mode. -_-

#with preschool it's bc she's not managing too well and i often get called after an hour to come pick her up again #so rn i've been in wait mode for 2 hours with 2 hours to go until actual pick up time and i just... can't get out of it #and in the evenings it's just waiting until she wakes up - when she was smaller she'd wake up every hour and i'd have to spend 20 mins #getting her to fall back asleep every time #it was so bad at one point that i just stayed in bed with her after 7 pm (between 6 months and about a year)#she hasn't done that in about a year now - not since we stopped nightly breastfeeding february last year #she still wakes up briefly around 2300 hrs but by then we're in bed ourselves #the wait mode however proves ... insistent #sigh

came home at 8:45 from work and 🌸 was already fast asleep fully dressed on the bed phone in hand completely unresponsive to sound including name-calling and loud floor creaks

probably they were planning to get more work done this evening but i'm going to sabotage that by turning their light off and ordering takeout so i don't make any cooking noises to wake them up, hopefully causing them to get up to a full 12 hours of sleep for what i think would be the first time in two and a half years

#can't check if their alarms for tomorrow are set‚ unfortunately‚ bc they don't have a fingerprint unlock phone anymore #so i can't do the ''cleverly manipulate your hand to unlock your phone in your sleep and set your alarms for you'' trick as i once did.#but we get up at the same time on fridays bc i have early meeting so i'll notice if they didn't.#box opener #girlfriend tag #i feel like my frequent blogging topics imply that my main interest in 🌸 is their sleep habits. it isn't but back when i was originally #becoming truly obsessed/falling in miserable secret love with them in college #it was roughly contemporaneous with their period where they tried to add our school's notorious theoretical cs program on top of their #existing bio/chem double major and 20hr/wk research commitments #and accordingly their sleep schedule would range from '4am-8am' to 'no'.#at the time i was very worried i was having an evil influence on their life (due to the corrosive nature of my secret passions obviously)#and my main countervailing evidence was how frequently i managed to convince them that going to sleep at 2am was ok to do #so i suppose. it remains a topic of some small interest.#also of course i am sulking a little because they are asleep so we can't hang out. so it helps to make it into a scheme i'm doing

i think the circadian rhythm disorder has ruined my life more than the pain disorder tbh

#i think the pain would be more manageable if i was getting good regular sleep #the pain is at its worst when i wake up esp if i had trouble falling asleep #but not having a consistent sleep schedule is a living nightmare #if it was delayed sleep phase disorder it would be perfect bc it would be *a schedule*#but not knowing what my sleep schedule will be a month from now is such bullshit #it's exhausting and isolating and not covered by health insurance :))#and societally people just think you're fucking lazy and irresponsible #and if you would just do xyz you would be cured #this has been my entire life. farther back than i can remember even.#i was sleep deprived and jetlagged for most of my childhood #which makes you neurotic as hell #but yes if i just follow ur little ~sleep hygiene~ tips i'm sure i'll stop being a lazy pos and join productive society

i fucked up my sleep schedule so much and i woke up too late to do what i planned to do today and i can't even properly panic about it bc i am still. too sleepy for that

im currently reading “just like home” which has a plot set up that instantly reminded me of “a fathers love” (in that a young woman recalls her girlhood being raised by a serial killer father but also there is supernatural horror afoot in the house where murders take place). but it also has a number of scenes reminiscent to me of “tucked in.” now . personally tucked in has never been a scary statement to me in the way i know others think of it. but the scenes in this book absolutely got to me and i know i cannot relisten to tucked in the same way. this is a book rec.

#im not done yet but yea several terrifying scenes of being in bed and relying on made up rules to keep you safe #imagine tucked in but. you wake up without the safety blanket. where did it go? oh its under the bed with just a corner peaking out #shall we retrieve it?#or. you have a little superstitious ritual to keep safe. you snap your fingers. something snaps back.#somehow i managed to fall asleep reading this this afternoon in an unintetional nap. how
