it's tuesday my dudes
i forgot to take my meds last night and this morning, so i had a headache all day, but it went away as soon as I took my meds tonight. hahhh. Just finished working out a bit too.
this is what my desktop pretty much looks like all the time (sans legal documents)
Tumblr media
I am so so serious about creating a consistent art style so I can make visual novels. My "main goal" right now is to "rewrite" Detroit via visual novel to practice branching gameplay and also rewrite a few scenes and story lines (like Kara and Alice.) Obviously, to recreate the entire game would be nuts. The main thing is to learn how to make visual novels in general, so I'm gonna start with specific scenes and then kinda go out from there.
I also want to write a fanfiction for D:BH. I started drafting it out. The first time is never perfect but I gotta start somewhere with storytelling, and for now, I'm borrowing these characters...
But my art style is pretty obviously going in a certain direction. Ghost in the shell was one of the first anime movies I ever saw (along with Adolescence of Utena. That was definitely an experience) And while I want each of my portraits to look like they "match" I also need to remember that I can still change and vary things up. That's kinda the main reason Markus and North are not 100% complete. The point wasn't to draw a finished portrait of them but to explore and practice a style. I like to think I'll go back once I gain more skill and draw finished portraits of the main D:BH cast.
One thing I really like about using D:BH to practice my art is that there are a variety of different characters to draw, from race to age and beyond.
This styles similarities to realism do throw me off though. I keep wanting to steer into realistic proportions but since it's not my intention from the outset, things get weird fast. Thankfully, I'm a lot better about starting over, reworking sketches and concepts, than I used to be. Before, I would have been tortured to even think about starting over on Amelia's portrait, but now? I want to make a proper portrait of her, in oil pastel. Not in procreate with my illustration tools. (I haven't shown yall my oil pastel rizz yet, hee hee)
On an unrelated note
I talked a bit with my best friend about my headspace around the Decharts' streams (and positive spaces in general) but i was still in oof ouch head hurty mode so I didn't get much out, but she was like "yeah. positivity vibe exposure therapy." I did catch their stream today but it was right when I had to go to the mechanic/dealership.
and boy, is my car a piece of work. I always done knew it too!!! But I need to be more assertive about taking care of it instead of feeling like my Abba is the only one who can decide when things get replaced and when. But i need new tires last week :/
He's throwing a route tonight too. I hope it's all boring and safe.
Gah, i had something else I wanted to talk about but it's escaped me.
Doing things in general has been easier.
I worry about when school starts. I have this gnawing feeling that I need to take a full course load but I know, consciously, that if I do it will end badly.
Although I'm trying to build better self-care habits over the summer so I don't get completely blindsided again. It's just, when I get drowned in a project, it can be hard to pull myself up and do the things I know help me. Like I can't work on my project as well if I don't take the moment to take my medication. gahhhh. but in each moment is eternity, so why would i take an eternity to do something else?
I guess that's my default way of thinking. Maybe that's why things are so intense so often unless I dislodge my brain from the world.
There's something about the Decharts' streams and other thing similar that makes it hard for me to zone out/dissociate/focus on something else/some variation of that. I can't ignore it. And then it's just sensory overload. I think when i feel emotions it's sensory overload first. and then whatever the emotion is second.
I've been trying to let myself feel things about silly android game. As long as it's not guilt. I am trying not feel guilty for liking this game so much. Like what's the use in feeling weird and bad about listening to the soundtrack. gahh the blood is draining from my fingers again.
Speech therapy today went well too.
goodnight yall.

Tumblr media
The restaurant my parents chose wasn't too flashy but rather comforting and homely, with an Italian theme and matching cuisine. It was bustling with people, but it didn't take long for Wanda and I to find my parents sat at the back waiting for us.
"You gonna be okay?" I asked, glancing at her with a comforting squeeze of the hand.
"I've got you, haven't I?" she asked playfully, her accent thicker than usual as she spoke. And though she was joking, I knew there was truth to her words which sent the butterflies in my stomach into a frenzy.
"You're cute," I said with adoration, appreciating how lovely her eyes looked in the dimly-lit restaurant. "Come on."
Hand in hand, we approached my parents' table and I had hopes that tonight would go well. My parents weren't exactly intimidating – at least anyone I'd ever known hadn't got that impression – but I still worried for Wanda. Unlike her, I couldn't read minds, so I couldn't tell if she was actually looking forward to tonight or if she was just doing it for me.
"Y/N, you're here!" my mum exclaimed with a grin when she spotted me.
"I am," I said with a nervous smile, before motioning to Wanda. "And so is Wanda, my girlfriend."
"Yes, Y/N mentioned you would be coming," my mum said with a friendly smile, looking to Wanda, before motioning to the table. "Please, sit, sit."
I squeezed Wanda's hand gently before pulling out a chair for her. She smiled at me appreciatively before I took a seat beside her, facing my parents.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Wanda," my dad said with a nod. "Y/N mentioned you plenty of times when we'd call to catch up with her."
"You, too," Wanda spoke politely. "Both of you. Y/N told me that you're travelling the world, is that right?"
I leaned on my hand and glanced at Wanda, who shot me a mischievous smile. Quirking a brow, I mentally applauded her. Getting my parents to talk about their travels was an easy way of bonding with them – they would tell every server and customer in this restaurant about their travelling if they could. She'd cracked them instantly.
I'm just that good, milashka (cutie).
Trying not to laugh as her words echoed in my mind because of her powers, I leaned back into my seat and listened in as my parents went into a ramble about their ongoing adventures. This was pretty much how the rest of the evening went, as the four of us dined on expensive wine and delicious pizza. They seemed to be getting along well, with Wanda asking all the right questions and giving them her picture-perfect smile that impressed all the elders. Heck, she was even impressing me.
Naively, I appreciated how well the evening was going until my parents decided to talk to Wanda about her career.
"So, Y/N mentioned you're one of those Revengers," my mum remembered as we ate.
"Avengers," I corrected her, mildly embarrassed.
Wanda chuckled, glancing at me, before nodding. "Yes, I am. For over a year now, I've been working with them."
"Them being Iron Man, Captain America, the Black Widow...?" my dad asked, looking up as if trying to remember the rest, further embarrassing me.
"Those are the ones," Wanda quipped with a nod.
My mum hummed in response as my dad nodded before leaning back in his seat and eyeing Wanda curiously.
"I can't imagine your job is the safest," he began. "You protect people from threats, right? Keep them safe."
Wanda seemed caught off guard, but recovered quickly. "It's got it's... dangers, yes. But I can handle myself. I've got powers and I know how to use them."
"You do," my dad agreed, before his eyes flickered to me briefly. "But Y/N doesn't. She's just a regular human."
I set my fork down on my plate and looked to him calmly. "Dad, what are you saying?"
"No, it's fine," Wanda said reassuringly, resting her hand on my leg under the table. I grabbed it and held it as she continued to speak to my father. "Y/N doesn't have powers, you are correct."
"And dating an Avenger, I can imagine, must put a huge target on her back," he said with concern, and my mum nodded in agreement. "How can we be certain that she is safe?"
"Dad!"
"Your father is right, Y/N," my mum said, giving me a look, before her expression softened as she looked to a startled Wanda. "We're not implying that you're incapable, Wanda. We can clearly see that you care about our daughter. And you're a lovely person. You're pretty much perfect."
Wanda swallowed hard. "But?"
My mother frowned. "But dating you is bound to put our Y/N in danger. She could get hurt just for being involved with you, with your friends. She doesn't have powers to protect herself. And I can't imagine you're around her all the time to keep her safe."
As angry as I was at my parents for saying this stuff – even if they were saying it out of love – memories of the incident flashed to mind. They were right, but it was a risk I'd accepted when dating Wanda. What good was it doing by bringing this up now?
Noticing Wanda's silence, I spoke up instead. "I appreciate your concern, guys, but I'm an adult. I understand the danger I may be put in by being with Wanda. But I love her and I know that she is here for me if anything were to ever happen."
"We know," my father said, giving me a small nod. "We just thought we'd share our opinion anyway. It's been weighing on us for a while is all."
I sighed quietly. I couldn't exactly fault them for that.
"Anyway, never mind that," my mum said, setting down her fork. "Now that we've got that out the way, let's order some dessert, yeah? Our treat."
Nodding, I let my parents get excited as they perused the dessert menus before them. Instead, I looked to the quiet brunette beside me and saw how lost in thought she was, eyes focused on the table and stuck in a daydream.
With the hand that was holding hers, I patted her hand with my thumb to earn her attention. She looked up suddenly, questioning gaze falling to me. I frowned and quirked a brow, wondering if she was okay. She forced a smile my way, squeezing my hand reassuringly, but I didn't believe her. I also couldn't question it right in front of my parents, so I decided to speak with her later.
Dessert went by quickly as Wanda, suddenly, wasn't very talkative. I didn't know if my parents noticed, but I sure did and I felt extremely guilty. If I had known of my parents' concerns, I never would have brought Wanda to meet them tonight.
After the evening came to a close and we all stepped out of the restaurant, I expected to be going home with my parents since we lived together, but they claimed they had more plans together tonight.
"Wow, you guys have more of a social life than we do," I joked when they told me to make my own way home.
Wanda barely smiled and I felt bad.
"We'll be back in a few hours," my mum promised, before pulling me in for a hug. "Tonight was fun. A great final night before we leave tomorrow."
I returned the hug and as I gave my dad one, I heard Wanda thanking my mum for the lovely evening halfheartedly. After saying our final goodbyes, Wanda led me to her car in silence, giving me time to try and put some jumbled thoughts together coherently.
As she had been for the past hour, Wanda was quiet on the drive back to my place. Whenever I would glance in her direction, she'd be chewing on her lip and focusing on driving, though the blank expression on her face made me think that maybe she was distracted. It didn't take a genius to know she was thinking about my parents' words and I suddenly felt guilty for putting that all on her.
"I'm sorry," I blurted halfway through the journey. "I'm sorry for what they said. It wasn't fair of them, I know that. They just... they meant well, Wanda, they really did." I tucked my hands under my thighs, wincing as their words echoed in my mind. "It doesn't change anything though, y'know? We're still us. We're still okay. I don't want you to feel like anything's changed because it hasn't."
I paused, swallowing hard, and glanced her way. She didn't even look my way, still in the same position as she was before I started to speak. Looking back to the road ahead, I let out a disappointed sigh, figuring she wasn't in a talking mood. I didn't blame her, but I hoped she would have understood what I meant.
The remainder of the drive was like this, Wanda deep in thought and me huddled under an imaginary blanket of guilt. When we finally reached my house, she turned the engine off and I waited for her to say something, literally anything. Her fingers drummed against the steering wheel mindlessly and I figured she was out of words for tonight.
"I'll ring you in the morning," I mumbled quietly, opening the car door. "If you want to speak, that is."
Leaving her there, I grabbed my bag and headed to the front door, but stopped when I heard her get out the car, too. Waiting, I turned around and watched as she approached me, eyebrows knitted in thought.
"Please say something," I said with pleading eyes.
She licked her lips, biting her lower lip so hard I'm surprised she didn't draw blood. Finally, she released it and looked to me with apologetic eyes.
"Your parents were right," she said.
I blinked with confusion. "What?"
She nodded, looking down at her shoes momentarily. "They were right, what they said. My life puts you in danger."
"Yeah, I know," I agreed, crossing my arms. "I knew that when I got with you, but that doesn't change anything."
She gave a disbelieving smile. "Seriously? Y/N, that changes everything."
"No, it doesn't," I told her sternly, growing frustrated. "This is the stuff you sacrifice when you love someone."
She sighed, shaking her head and looking away. "You shouldn't have to."
"But I chose to," I said, clenching my jaw.
"Don't you remember what happened last time?" she asked, stepping forward and holding my hand. "The incident?"
"We said we wouldn't talk about that," I reminded her with a low voice.
"But you remember, right? When they took you and I wasn't there? They could've hurt you!"
"Shut up!" I told her, raising my voice. Pulling my hand away from hers and taking a step back, I continued, "Why are you saying that? You came! You helped me!"
"But what if they did something to you before I got there?" she snapped. "What if I hadn't got to you on time?"
The memories came spilling into my mind, escaping the locked box I kept them in. Tears burned the corner of my eyes as I tried to think about anything else.
"You remember how scared you were?" Wanda asked, frowning at me with exasperated eyes. "You couldn't be by yourself for weeks!"
"Why are you doing this?!" I yelled, clenching my fists. "Why are you trying to frighten me?!"
"Because you should be frightened!" she retorted, stepping closer to me. Her dark green eyes were swirling storms of rage as she added, "It could happen again!"
I shoved her away from me, pinching the bridge of my nose with annoyance. Tears slipped from my eyes at the terrifying memory of what happened, what could have gone wrong, but I ignored them as I swallowed down the lump in my throat. Why the hell was she acting like this? Making me so angry at her for no reason?
"It's not even just that," she continued, jaw tensed. "How many times do I get hurt because of work and you get worried?"
"That's because I care about you," I muttered through stinging eyes.
"This will always be my life," she said, a hint of regret in her words as she looked to me. "I can't change it."
"I'm not asking you to!"
"Exactly! You're not! Which means you'll suck it up and stay with me and will live your life in constant concern for my well-being. It's not right."
I opened my mouth to respond because what she was saying was entirely stupid. But my emotions got the better of me and no words came out. Instead, my bottom lip quivered as I sucked up a breath.
"I need time to think," she suddenly said, anger disappearing from her voice and being replaced with an astute calmness.
My gaze snapped her way and through blurry vision, I watched her step back with her hands on her hips.
"So you can what – think about breaking up with me?" I said bitterly, and despite my anger, I didn't expect her to look at me with a softened expression, meaning my words were correct.
"Maybe it's better that way, Y/N," she said gently, eyes meeting mine.
I squeezed my hands together and tried to breathe through the pent-up anger that she'd caused, but the longer she stared at me, waiting for a response, the more I wanted to explode.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" I muttered, scrunching my eyebrows together.
She pressed her lips together, looking away, and it only pissed me off more.
"Are you fucking kidding me, Wanda?!" I yelled. "You're quitting on our relationship because, what, you think I'm in danger? Well, news flash, honey, the worst already happened and I'm still here!"
She barely flinched as she avoided my eyes.
"You're a fucking coward!" I said, pointing at her. "If you needed an excuse to end things, you could have just said so!"
Breathing out, I wiped my tears away shakily. I expected her to argue back, to realise she'd made a mistake and regretted her words, but as I waited, I knew she was certain of her decision.
"Fine," I settled, brimming with rage. "Fuck off, Wanda."
Still, nothing.
Turning on my heel, I stormed to my front door and went through my keys with difficulty, hands shaking with anger. I heard Wanda's car door shut from behind me but didn't bother turning around. I clearly didn't need to as I heard the tyres screech against the road and knew she was gone.
Kicking my door with frustration, I found the key and opened up before heading inside and slamming the door behind me. How dare she break up with me because of something that I chose off my own back! She just gave up like we meant nothing to her, not even bothering to talk things out with me! And selfishly, she left me feeling pissed and resenting her more than I ever thought I would.
"What a bitch!" I shouted into the empty house, throwing my keys to the side harshly.
When they clinked against glass, I looked up and saw the vase of flowers Wanda had given me before dinner.
"The first and fucking last," I said dryly, before grabbing ahold of it and throwing it against the wall without thinking.
The glass shattered on impact, leaving a mess of water, flowers and small shards on the wooden floor. I looked at it, the brokenness resembling how my heart felt. As the adrenaline of my actions and previous angry words wore off, all that was left was hurt and pain and oh God, Wanda was gone. She'd left me. She'd given up.
I sank to the floor, pulling my legs up to my chest, and hugged them tightly. Stifling my cries, I dug myself into my knees and felt a pain in my heart. Why didn't she fight for us? Did she not love me enough? Was I not enough?
"You ignored the memes I sent you, I thought you died."
As Natasha pushed right past me and into my house, I blinked with disbelief.
"Sure, come right in," I mumbled sarcastically, closing the front door.
Following after Natasha, I found her making herself at home in the living room, plonking herself on the couch and pulling her feet up comfortably.
"You could have sent an emoji or something," she continued, giving me a knowing look. "They were some good memes."
"Well, forgive me if I wasn't in the mood," I said sourly, joining her on the couch.
Her playful smile faded as she picked up on my words. "How are you doing, sweetie?"
I ran a hand through my hair and leaned my elbow on the back of the couch, getting comfortable. It had been two weeks since Wanda broke up with me and in those two weeks, I hadn't been doing particularly well. I guess you could say I was still in a slump. A horrible, tiresome, angry, sadness-filled slump.
"I'm fine."
She pursed her lips, looking like she wanted to argue, but thankfully, she didn't. I was glad – the last thing I wanted was to prove that I was okay when, really, all I wanted to do was curl in a ball and suffocate under my duvet.
"I'm sorry," she said, resting her hand on mine. "If it's any consolation, I think Wanda made a huge mistake."
"Ah, so she told you," I said with a nod of realisation. I hadn't told Natasha the specifics of why we broke up, but clearly Wanda did. I guess it made sense – they were teammates. If anything, I was surprised Natasha still wanted to speak to me, instead expecting her to side with her friend.
"She did," Natasha answered. "And I think she's an idiot, but that's not my business. I just came here to make sure you were okay."
"Really? I thought you wanted to show me the memes," I said jokingly, trying to lighten the mood with a small smile.
She chuckled, slapping my hand gently. "That, too... but seriously."
My smile faded as I looked down, my finger playing with my trousers distractedly. "I'm not okay, but I'll get there." I began to glare at my trousers, my anger for the witch returning. "I have to be. Because she doesn't want me anymore... fuck her."
"I'd rather not," Natasha mumbled.
Though my anger was present, making me tense like it had been the last few weeks, I couldn't help but smile at Natasha's words. Then laughter bubbled from my lips and for the first time since Wanda left, I felt momentarily happy.
"I'm glad we can still be friends," Natasha said, making me look to her with a smile. "I know that you and Wanda are over now... but I still like hanging out with you."
"Me, too," I said in agreement. "Thanks for coming to check in. You didn't have to."
"Yeah, I did." She nodded before offering me a small, encouraging smile. "You're gonna be okay, y'know."
I wanted to believe her, but despite how pissed I was at Wanda, I still loved her. And I couldn't imagine stopping, though I knew I'd have to if I was to make it through this.
Getting over Wanda was a difficult process. Everything I felt was a mixture of resentment, exhaustion and misery because I missed her. I missed being able to call her when I saw somebody do something stupid in public; I missed kissing her when I hadn't seen her in a long time; I missed hearing her adorable accent first thing when I woke up after she spent the night; I missed her.
Two months followed the breakup and the only time I'd see her was when she'd dodge Anna's apartment upon knowing I was going to take care of her. I guess I was glad in that sense, as it meant I wouldn't have to deal with her awkwardly. But it also made me feel like shit because it meant she didn't care about me at all. Clearly our breakup wasn't affecting her like it did with me.
And it was definitely affecting me.
I was scrolling through Instagram one day when I saw a particular post on my feed from Natasha's account. Yeah, one of the Avengers had a private Instagram account. She gave me her username when she saw me on it one day and I remember being so confused to how she had it.
"I'm an Avenger, not a hermit," was her response, and from that day onwards, we followed each other.
So, I saw a post on her Instagram and it was some goofy photo of her, Tony, Bruce and Wanda. They were posing with exaggerated smiles as Natasha grinned up front; the caption said something about working long days, but I wasn't paying much attention as, naturally, my gaze fell to Wanda.
Just like everyone else, she had a playful, exaggerated smile on her lips like nothing kept her down, but what stood out was the sling around her arm and the cast underneath. It must have happened in a mission or something and it wasn't my business, but I couldn't help but worry. Was she okay? Was she looking after herself? I wanted to text Natasha and ask, but I stopped myself.
She'd broken up with me for this very reason. I wasn't agreeing with it, but for a second, I did see why she'd made her point. It still wasn't fair though. She didn't get to make that choice for me.
We weren't together anymore, I reminded myself. She broke up with me. It had been two months and I needed to let go. If she didn't care about me, why should I waste my time and energy caring about her?
Not letting it get to me anymore, I simply liked the post before continuing my scrolling. Though I knew that deep down, her face was imprinted in my mind and I still worried for her well-being.
The fourth month following our breakup was when I properly saw Wanda again, excluding the times she would duck out of Anna's apartment upon my arrival to care for her. It was also the first time since the breakup that Wanda made the effort to speak to me.
I was sat eating dinner on my day off when I got a call from the hospital nearby, interrupting my meal. The nurse was explaining how Anna had fallen over and hurt her back and was now in a hospital room. She was calling me because she thought I'd like to know since I was her registered nurse and carer. I was glad to get the call, immediately pulling my shoes and coat on and rushing over there to make sure she was okay. She didn't have anyone else apart from Wanda and I – it was no question I had to go.
Though, of course, I didn't really think about the fact that Wanda may be there until I saw her there. I also didn't consider the fact that I was wearing my pyjamas when I stepped in the lift and headed to Anna's floor. Too late now.
After asking the receptionist where Anna's room was, I found Wanda hanging around it outside the door. With only Anna on my mind, I approached her and tried to hide my panic. She spotted me instantly, stopping her pacing and looking to me with tired eyes and a frown on her face.
I didn't care that she looked worried, nor that she was holding up well since we last spoke in anger. I didn't care that she'd dyed her hair a reddish-brown colour, nor that she managed to pull off both that and the whole 'loungewear' look in a place surrounded by blinding white and blue. I didn't care that my heart ached when her green eyes found mine, nor that I missed seeing her so close and not in my dreams for once. I didn't care about any of it. Or, at least, I tried to tell myself that.
"What happened?" I cut straight to the point, stopping in front of her. "Is Anna okay?"
Wanda nodded instantly. "She's fine. She tripped over her dining room chair and hurt her back. The doctors just checked her out and said it's nothing too serious, but she won't be able to walk for a while."
I pressed my lips together, feeling the panic wear off at the sound of good news. Anna had always been more than just a patient to me and the last thing I wanted was to hear she'd hurt herself badly.
"Can I see her?" I asked Wanda, quirking a brow.
"Yeah, of course," Wanda said, before looking away awkwardly. "I was just waiting out here for you. The nurse said you were coming."
I chose to say nothing as I walked past her and into Anna's room, seeing the older woman laying on a hospital bed and staring at the ceiling. When she noticed my presence, she smiled at me and motioned for me to join her side.
"It's so good to see you, milaya (sweetie)," she said happily, as I stopped by her side, "but you didn't have to come! I'm not dying."
I heard Wanda enter the room behind me, but she took a seat on the chairs opposite the bed. Ignoring her, I smiled down at Anna and grabbed her hand.
"Don't say that," I told her gently. "Of course I'm here. You're my number one priority. I had to make sure you were okay!"
Anna waved her hand in typical Anna fashion. "I've suffered worse. I'm absolutely fine."
I knew it was best not to question her, so I didn't.
"I'm glad you're both here," she said, looking between Wanda and I, making me swallow awkwardly.
Since breaking up, I hadn't mentioned it to Anna, but she wasn't stupid and she'd clearly noticed that we weren't spending time together anymore. I didn't know if Wanda had told her, but if she had, Anna never mentioned anything. Like now, she simply looked between us both with a grateful smile, unaware of how awkward we felt.
Thankfully, the awkward silence was interrupted when a doctor walked in the room. After introducing herself, I asked if I could speak to her outside about Anna and she happily obliged. She told me about Anna's condition and how it would affect the way I cared for her, especially regarding her new medication, and I asked anything and everything to make sure she was truly okay. After being reassured that she was, I thanked the doctor and returned to Anna's room, only to find Wanda and Anna in a heated a argument.
I couldn't tell what had got them so fussy as they were bickering in Russian, sentences too fast for me to comprehend with my limited knowledge of the language. It got to a point where Anna began slapping Wanda on the arm, looking angrier than ever, so I stepped between them and pulled Wanda away.
"What the hell is going on here?" I interrupted, holding Anna's slapping hand down to the bed and raising a hand to keep Wanda at bay. I looked between them, seeing the frustration in both their expressions, and asked questioningly, "Well?"
Wanda said nothing, eyes avoiding mine as usual, so I looked down to Anna who was glancing between us before spouting off into another ramble in Russian, trying to grab Wanda so she could yell at her directly. To my annoyance, Wanda tried to push past me, yelling back, and I was unfortunately caught in the middle as I attempted to keep them from ripping each other's throats out.
Thankfully, their bickering came to a halt when an unknown voice called into the room: "What is going on in here?"
I looked to the door, following the mystery voice, and saw a young woman, maybe in her thirties, standing in the doorway and looking between the three of us with confusion. I had no idea who she was, though she seemed familiar. Judging from the confusion Wanda had, she didn't seem to know either.
"Sasha," Anna breathed out with surprise, and then I realised. That was Anna's granddaughter. "What are you doing here?"

do you ship songxue?
I think Xue Yang having an unrequited crush on Song Lan is really good. As for what everyone else is doing with it, no. It would have to be like within really specific parameters but for the most part I have the same reaction to it as xuexiao. I've spoken about how it doesn't spark as much revulsion as a concept (mostly in private) because like, really, it wouldn't be the first problematic ship under my belt, right? But something about it just... Like aside from the obvious 😬
Sorry I'm taking this as an opportunity to ramble a little LOL but I need the disclaimer again that yi city family stuff is ENTIRELY SEPARATE to any interpretation of unrequited this or that, and is also my favorite (and the best) interpretation of the 4 characters as a whole.
But going back to ships, I've found that part of the reason I don't ship stuff is because other people have left a bad taste in my mouth about it. Usually I'm all for happy sunshine and rainbows "nothing bad ever happened, they're fucking now" stories, but stuff that's like "actually, these two are only fucking because A thinks B is actually C, or because A is the closest B will ever get to C" is just a total turnoff. There's a lot of ships that I could be like "hmm" about that other people have steered me away from due to the content they make and their interpretations of the characters.
Then there's people's attitudes and general vibes. You know the kinds of people who wear being problematic as a badge of honor? Who make it their whole identity? Yeah. Same goes for people who just flat out refuse to admit characters like Xue Yang suck ass, or people who clearly hate Song Lan but just want Xue Yang to add another boyfriend to his collection. I don't want to be lumped in with any of them under any circumstance.
I'll be honest, if we just ignored canon completely, their personalities fall perfectly into what I /do/ like in a ship. I love the dynamic of a cocky annoying guy constantly trying to rile up his more grumpy counterpart. Alas, canon exists and also songxiao supremacy.
I think it's funny to say "oops they're married now" every time some nerd hates on Song Lan and says he ruined Xue Yang's perfect life but it also makes some of my best friends incredibly uncomfortable and I don't wanna be that guy if I can help it.
Tl;dr not really sorry I just love drawing them together, maybe I would if it didn't suck but songxiao still número uno campeón del mundo

Just A Game: Gonna' Ask Her
Anime: My Hero Academia (SMAU)

Tumblr media
Y/N took her car and drove down to Shinso's house. She had texted her roommates that she'd be out for the day, and when Bakugou asked why, she informed them. Both of them were extremely wary about the situation. Kirishima offered to come along.
By now, they'd been filled with worries, prompting Bakugou to call her.
"You're making a really dumb decision." Bakugou states, his voice booming around the car.
Y/N frowned a little as she stopped at a red light. "I know, Katsuki." She sighed out, running her hands down the steering wheel, "But I'm sure that if I don't do this, it'll haunt me the rest of my life."
Bakugou goes quiet.
Y/N knows her best friend. Bakugou's gone into his bedroom, which was further down the hall than Kirishima and Y/N'd. Bakugou is most likely leaning against the wall of his walk-in closet, door closed so that Kirishima couldn't hear his conversation.
Y/N also knew her other best friend. Kirishima is probably eating Bakugou's stress cooking (gydon most likely) as he watches work out videos and random short clips to get his mind off of everything. He's trying not to check his phone, because he's expecting a text from Y/N.
But they know her just as well. They know Y/N is tapping her fingers against the steering wheel because she's as nervous as she was on her first day of high school. Y/N probably has a cup of milktea in her cup holder, half empty within the first 15 minutes of buying it because she stress drinks like how Bakugou stress cooks.
"You know that you don't need him." Bakugou says, shuffling around the coats in his wardrobe, "I don't understand why you're so eager to mend things with that fucker. He messed up. You shouldn't forgive me, just because he suddenly wants to actually be honest with you."
Y/N turned the corner, sipping from her straw in the milktea. "You know I value your opinion because most of the time, you're right." She huffed, putting her drink back, "But... I don't know, maybe after hearing him out, I can finally get over all of this."
Bakugou stiffened, leaning against the door. He crossed his arms over his chest. After a moment, he says, "He doesn't deserve you, Y/N."
Her lips have parted by now and she's staring harder at the road. "Nobody deserves anybody." She replies to her friend, "People aren't entitled to 'win' anyone over. They just need to want them enough to persue them."
Bakugou shakes his head and leans it against the door. Of course she'd say that. As he closed his eyes, he spoke into the phone, "Let me rephrase that then, idiot." He opened his eyes, staring at the ceiling. "You deserve better."
Y/N chuckled after a second, shaking her head slowly, "You're only saying that because you miss the relationship I was in from high school."
"That was a Hell of a lot better than this shit." Bakugou stated.
"I'll fix this shit, Katsuki." Y/N spoke, looking determined, "Trust me."
So, Bakugou did. He hung up after telling her that he was making takoyaki for when she came home. He left Y/N with hope and her own thoughts.
She thought that Shinso and herself would be alone. But then, when she drove into Shinso's driveway, she recognised the two cars parked there. One was Shinso's stick-shift, the black car he used when they went around. The other was most definitely Midoriya's, a dark green Mazda Sedan.
Y/N knocked on the door, being met with Uraraka. "Oh... I'm—I'm sorry, I thought that Shinso would be here—" She began, feeling her cheeks warm up with embarrassment. But Uraraka waved her hands.
"Wait!" She said, stopping Y/N from walking away, "Shinso's here, he is! He's just, um... talking to Midoriya and Iida. He'll be finished in a bit."
Y/N only nodded her head. She sighed as Uraraka let her inside and told her that she could sit on the stool. Y/N took out her phone while Uraraka went into the room with all the yelling. It sounded like Shinso didn't invite them over. She could hear Midoriya try to stop him from shouting and Iida telling him to calm down. Uraraka quickly closed the door behind her, passing Todoroki while he walked out.
"Oh, hi Y/N." Todoroki spoke, sipping from his cup. He walked towards her spot. "How're you? It's been a while since we've seen each other last."
Y/N chuckled, scratching the back of her neck sheepishly, "Yeah, it has been. Pretty sure the last time I actually spoke to you was at laser tag."
"We should all go again." Todoroki said.
Y/N hummed, drawing circles on the marble counter, "Hmm. Maybe."
"Would you like something to drink?" Todoroki asked, already guiding her around the kitchen counter. He took out cans and mugs for the both of them. "I have some tea that Shinso mentioned you liked."
Y/N blinked at the thought. She then nodded her head, Todoroki asking her to fill and start the kettle as he put the tea bags in.
The door swung open to reveal a very flustered and messy Shinso. He hair was sticking up in weird places and he was breathing heavily. He looked like he was having a mid-life crisis. Y/N raised a brow at him.
"Y/N, I didn't think you'd come so early." Shinso said, fixing his shirt since he seemed a bit dishevelled. He cleared his throat and stood in front of her. "Um... Do you want to talk outside?"
"I'm fine with talking here, Shinso."
Her words were soft but icy. As if passive aggressive. Shinso had chills up his spine from how she spoke to him. Y/N sat up properly on the stool as Shinso shifted in his spot. She sipped from her cup.
Uraraka, Iida, Midoriya and Todoroki all stared at them. The girl then mumbled, pushing the boys ups the stairs, "We'll leave you two alone."
"Will he be alright by himself?" Todoroki asked quietly to them, making Midoriya and Iida nod their head profusely.
It was silent after they all went upstairs, probably not that far to hear what they were saying. But Shinso started it off.
"I'm really sorry for lying to you about that night."
After that, he said nothing. Or rather, he stopped speaking. Y/N only stared at him, brushing her hand against her neck. She waited for him to go on, to apologise further for the way he acted. But he was silent.
"I'm over that." She retorts, crossing her arms over her chest after drinking from her cup, "You apologised for that the last time I saw you."
"I—I know." Shinso replies, shifting in his spot near her. He avoided her gaze once again. "I just thought... you might want to hear it again. Is all."
Y/N sighed, standing up from her spot and brushing out the creases in her shirt, "Well, of that's all, then I'll be going. Is there anything else?"
Shinso held his breath. "N—... No." He replied, immediately regretting it as she nodded her head.
Shinso blinked as she went to the door after finishing her tea. She put her bag on and placed her hand on the doorknob. "Thank Todoroki for me, for the tea." She said, glancing over her shoulder to him.
Shinso stood in his spot, staring at her with wide eyes. She's just... leaving.
It's when the door shut behind her that he snapped out of his trance.
Bounding down the stairs was Uraraka and Midoriya.
"What are you doing?" Uraraka shouted, pointing at Shinso with a surprised look, "Go after her!"
Shinso looked back at the two, Iida and Todoroki poking theirs heads out from the top of the stairs. Midoriya puffed out his cheeks and spoke, "This is your one chance to make up for things! Go, Shinso, go!"
He stiffened up before waving his hands at them defensively, already walking towards the door.
Y/N was in her car, backing out of the driveway as she looks over her shoulder to the road. Shinso gulped, lifting his shoulder and running out towards the street. Y/N looks back to her front, pressing on the gas pedal.
But stops when Shinso stands in front of her car with his arms spread out wide.
Y/N harshly stomped on the brakes, feeling her body jolt forward before landing back on her chair.
She blinked, seeing him pant harshly.
"Shinso!" She shouted loudly, getting out of the car and standing up straight. She glared at him with bewildered eyes. "What is wrong with you? I could've run you over, you idiot!"
Shinso let out a sigh, walking over to her.
Y/N ran her fingers up her neck, her mind going wild. "You're so—so confusing! You just said that you had nothing left to talk to me about, and I drove all the way here just to hear you say 'I'm sorry'? Are you freaking kidding me?" She shouted at him, "Fuck, maybe Katsuki was right, I shouldn't have come here! We're never gonna' sort this shit out because you don't know how to just tell me the tru—"
Arms wrapped around her shoulders and pulled her into his chest, his head digging into the top of her shoulder.
Y/N stopped, stepping back to support herself as Shinso dove all his weight into her. "Shinso—"
"Can we take a drive?"
Y/N sighed, snaking her arms around his waist and holding onto him loosely, "Fine. Get in, we're going to go get food."
Shinso nodded his head. He let go of her after a few seconds, rounding the car to get into the passenger's seat. Y/N shut the door behind her, starting the car again and driving down the road.
"Do you think it's gonna' be okay?" Midoriya questioned, watching the car drive off from the opened door that Shinso forgot to close.
"He'll make it right." Iida said, fixing his classes as he walked back to the kitchen, "He has to."
"Shinso said he's gonna' ask her about her ex."
Everyone turned to Todoroki, sheer fear in their eyes as he read off what he got texted.

Ineffable.
Ineffable - Too great to be expressed in words.
Pairing - Lee Taeyong x reader
Genre- Pure fluff!
Word count- 2.58k
Warnings- None but please let me know if THIS amount of fluff is cringe or not kselkkd. Also, I'm sorry if this story's dissapointing, my health hasn't been the best so if the storylines not good, let me know :)
Summary- All it took was a couple of smack on his head, water splashed onto his face and being called friend on the first date for him to step out of his comfort zone and confess to you.
Tumblr media
You and Taeyong had a really complicated relationship. If you could call it one.
You're neither friends, nor enemies, neither were you dating. You wish you were but no.
But still at the end, the two of you always end up paired together, be it projects, going for business trips, being promoted together, you'd basically seen him all day. So it was obvious the two of you spoke.
Well, you spoke, he'd listen, giggle at your talks, and then say a sentence or two max. You guys would be what people other than your friend group called acquaintances.
Anyone with eyesight would know immediately that you're head over heels for the lad. You made it a little too obvious. Always talking frantically around him, your heart flutters when you hear him laugh, his presence in all just made you giddy. And so you'd always been happy when he'd be paired up with you in everything.
Your friends basically divided themselves into two groups. One that supported you and pushed you to go confess your love for him, the other being one who ridiculed you for loving a guy that they thought would never like you back.
On the other hand, Taeyong was just shy.
Your bubbly persona overwhelmed him. Of course he liked you too, he just needed one smack at the back of his head. Or not because his friends have done it way too many times, yet here he is, just daydreaming scenarios of what he'd do for you if the two of you dated resulting in him not talking much.
So when Yuta, his friend, poured the tiniest amount of water onto his face and yelled 'BOOMER' at him, he thought it's finally time to make a move.
A hangout. Exactly what the two of you needed.
Break time had come to an end, you were walking with Luna to your cabin, when you crossed paths with Taeyong, who was indulged in a conversation with Johnny, another one of his friends from the same department as the two of you.
"Oh boy, here we go again" Luna spoke from beside you. You look at her, confusion spread all over your face. "huh?" she let out a chuckle, shaking her head, "You've been staring at him long enough for him to look back at you-" she pointed at the direction where Taeyong and Johnny stood with her head, as you turn around to look at him "-but you were so busy devouring his existence to realize that", He waved at you, which you did back but then turned back at Luna, flustered.
She looked behind you gesturing something to either Johnny or Taeyong, then turned you around and pushed you towards where the boys were, Johnny doing the same with Taeyong as both your bodies collided, gently, but hard enough to send the two of you stumbling back a few steps.
You hear the other two laugh and walk away, you turn back to send a glare at your friend, but ended up landing on Johnny who winked to that.
You face your crush, "Hey" you tuck a stray piece of hair behind your ears. He sent you a smile and nodded his head, greeting back.
"How's your day so far?" you ask him, raising an eyebrow in anticipation. "It's been good, tiring but doable" he ended the answer. Your shoulder slouch down as his answer again ended in a sentence. "What about you? How's yours going" you look up, caught off guard, since this was the first time he's ever asked a question back.
Okay that's an exaggeration, he did ask questions, but that was a rare occasion.
"It's good! Tressa spilled her coffee over her documents which got Mr.Kim extremely mad, i finished the final task just a few minutes before break, i was just going to gather my things and head out" you smile radiantly. He smiled at your excitement of finally getting off of work.
There was a second of silence, this time Taeyong being the one breaking it.
"Could you wait for just a little while? I'm almost done too, so we can head out together" he asked, fidgeting with his hands, a habit he has that comes out of nervousness "If that's too much of a hassle you could go now that's fine too!-" he quickly added after seeing your eyes widen.
You interrupt, waving your hands in the air in quick motions, shaking your head," No no! It isn't, i could wait" you smile at him, which he returned back with equal enthusiasm.
-
No longer than 10 minutes later, you and Taeyong made your way towards the elevator, him initiating small talks every now and then, asking questions about you, to which you gave long answers for.
"-and then Lisa just threw up on him because of how much booze was in her system" you end your story from last Saturday, Taeyong let out a hearty laugh at the ending, sending warmth streaming all through your nerves.
The door opened at the basement, where his car was parked, "Oh? I took the bus today,I sent my car for servicing yesterday " you say, stepping out. "That's fine! I could drive you" he offered.
"No no! That'll be a trouble for you! I could just take the bus-" "Please. I'll kidnap you if I have to, if that means you'll ride with me" Taeyong said, smiling widely at you. You giggle at his words, feeling heat rush up your cheeks, as you cup your face to reduce the heat.
"Alright no need to involve kidnapping here" you say making your way towards his car alongside him.
Okay Okay Taeyong, be outgoing. Fun to be around. Ask questions. This your chance.
"Welcome aboard" He said, the second you stepped into the passenger's seat, you laughed at his antics, reaching out to fasten the seat belt. Taeyong beat you to it, reaching over across your body, tugging at the seat belt and fastening it.
The proximity had blood rush up your cheeks once again, damn it.
"Safety first!" he said wearing his own seatbelt, starting the car, pulling out of his parking space and out of the basement.
Once you were away from the building of your work space, you turn to the side looking at Taeyong's side profile, admiring the way the street lights shone upon his face, highlighting the scar on the right side of his face, he's perfect, no doubt. But this slight scar proved he was too, nothing more than just a human. The grip he had on the steering wheel made the veins on his hands more prominent. "So Tae-" "-Y/n" you start at the same time, "Oh you go first" you say quickly, knowing that if you'd stay there admiring Taeyong he'd probably ask you to go first.
"There's this really good restaurant by the corner in just two minutes and it's really late, so, wanna go grab dinner together?" he said in a breath, looking at you for a split second before turning his focus back onto the road.
"Oh sure! If though, either you let me pay or we share the bill" you reply excitedly, smiling at the fact that you'd get to spend more time with him.
"No? Come on, let me pay for the first date-" he stopped abruptly as you look at him with wide eyes, "date.. I like the sound of that" you let out a chuckle as you see him gulp down.
The rest of the car ride, you spoke back and forth, Taeyong replied much better than how he'd used to, you two even jammed to some of the radio music together, eventually pulling over in front of the restaurant Taeyong wanted to take you to.
"Korean barbecue? How did you know I was craving it?" you say, removing the belt and turning towards the driver's seat, to see no Taeyong.
You jump when the door of your side opens, Taeyong standing there with his hands out, offering it to you. You hit his palm at the extremely cliché action, then held it and stepped out of the car. "Because it's Saturday and everyone craves it on the weekends, now let's go!" he pulled you out of the seat, slamming the door shut and jogging towards the restaurant as you laughed at his sudden bubbliness.
The two of you went and took a seat at the end of the restaurant, it wasn't anything too posh, but it wasn't not too plain either, it was cozy. Taeyong removed his coat and hung it on his chair. And then hurried over to your side and pulled your chair out, you smack his shoulder, to which he grinned and made his way back to his seat.
"What do you want to eat?" he asked, looking at the menu.
"The classic, wouldn't want to add any other flavor to the classic" you reply back, looking at the names of different delicacies written on the card, not noticing Taeyong look at you. It's when you set the menu card down that you notice his gaze. You feel yourself starting to blush for the nth time that night. This is the impact Lee Taeyong has on you. One gaze is all it takes and you're completely melted.
The waiter came in minutes later, took your orders and went back, you just waited, having common talks with the boy in front of you, sometimes drifting into your subspace, maybe fangirling over him way too much from time to time.
"Oh oh I got another one, do you know why Hershey chocolate closed down?" he asked.
One thing you found out about him is that he's a sucker for pick up lines. "because I'm too sweet?" you giggle as you see a frown forming up on his features "come on, yong, that's a classic try again."
"Unfair! Even if you know the answer you shouldn't say it!" he whined out, messing his hair, you laughed out loud at how cute he looked and sounded, drawing a few eyes onto the table, which neither of you paid attention to, Taeyong joining along with you with his tiny giggles.
The food arrived, and you dig in immediately, earning a chuckle from Taeyong as you stuff your cheeks.
You looked cute.
"Alright this is a tough one, are you my appendix?" he asked, gulping down a decent amount of food.
"clearly not? why?" you reply, voice coming out muffled.
"because i have a funny feeling in my stomach that makes me feel like i should take you out" he said, looking at you intently. You start choking due to his reply, to which Taeyong laughed out loud, calming himself, leaning forward to pat the top of your head and pushing your water glass at you.
"Taeyong what in the name of heaven even!" you ask, now you lean forward to hit him as he started laughing again.
"Hey admit it, that was a good one!" he said, looking at you with his eyes wide as you kept hitting him.
"Whatever. Eat" You chuckle and turn back to your food, the blood most probably clot on your cheeks through the entirety of the night.
The both of you finish, getting up from your seats as Taeyong gestured you to wait for him by the entrance.
He paid for the food, and made his way back to you, with two fruit Popsicles in his hand.
He handed one over to you, and started walking the opposite direction from where his car was parked. "Yong, it's this way-" you say, standing in the same place. "I know" he simply replied, stopping and turning back around to look at you. "Come on hurry, follow me!" he said and started walking again. You jog to catch up with him.
You walk in silence for ten minutes, eating the Popsicle he'd bought, shoulder's sometimes brushing past each other.
"We're here!" he said excitedly, you look up from your feet and stare at whatever Taeyong was looking at, eyes immediately lighting up as you see the calm waters of the river in front of you.
"Beautiful, right?" he asked, smiling at you as your eyes stayed fixed at the scenery in front of you.
You hum in agreement, walking towards the railing to get a closer look, Taeyong following suit.
"Thank you" you said, all of a sudden.
"Hm? For?" he asked, confused. "Today, it was fun! I guess we can call ourselves friends now right??" you ask, taking your eyes off the river and turning to look at the boy.
Come on Taeyong, this is your chance.
"Y/n." he started, you look at him with your eyebrows raised.
"Friend's is so far off from what you really are to me, Y/n" he said, letting out a sigh and turning to face the river.
"What do you mean?" you knew exactly what he meant. You felt your heart flutter, beating a little faster than normal, if he would back out now, you'll take a step forward.
"Oh god how do i do this, I- just.. Okay listen, i like you okay? I really really like you" he said fast, turning to look at you this time. "I thought I made it obvious? How didn't you get even the slightest of hints if my feelings for you?" he said, his eyes furrowed.
"Because, honey you never made it obvious, if anything, you looked like you had no interest in talking to me" you said, laughing and stepping forward, feeling your stomach churn in weird ways, the muscles of your face, starting to hurt from how widely you were smiling.
"don't mind that! I'm just-just usually like that around everyone-"
"I like you too" you cut him off, stepping forward to get a little closer to the boy.
"-and i felt like, wait what?" he stopped, looking at you with wide eyes.
"i said i like you too! I think, in fact, I'm in love with you. A little too much" you add, seeing a red hue take over Taeyong's face, as he temporarily looked down, and back at you the shocked expression replaced by an extremely wide smile.
You two just stared at each other, Taeyong stepping forward with a questioning look on his face.
"Can i kiss you?" he asked, his voice tiny. You laugh in content, and instead of answering him, you walk closer to him, standing on your toes, placing a soft peck on his lips.
Taeyong let out a chain of giggles, leaning forwards and capturing your lips again, hands going around your waist, yours finding its way around his neck as the two of you smile into the kiss.
He pulled away first, looking at you with a loving look.
"So i can call you mine from today right?" he asked, his eyes shimmering in the twilight.
"Only if you tell me one of the best pick up lines you've got" you reply, crossing your arms over your chest watching Taeyong mumble out a 'you know it' and step back, looking you up and down, placing a hand under his chin.
"I-...damn, I'm sorry you're so beautiful you made me forget my pick up line" he said, looking straight into your eyes.
"Ew Tae, you are such a cheesy man" you say, taking large steps towards him. He reached out to you, snaking his hands around your waist placing another soft kiss on your lips.
"I'm your cheesy man"

Rated G for Gosh Dang Near Everyone except people who don't like hurt/comfort sickfics
Word count: 1373
Summary: Winry insists on getting her covid shot as soon as Central offers it. Ed worries for her, even though she's fine. Until she's not.
A/N: written for @darkpersonapeace several days ago when she was recovering from her covid shot day-after yuckiness. Disclaimer though, I am not a medical professional, nor is this meant to be a realistic depiction of the typical side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine. This scenario is simply based on what my roommate experienced, and my side effects were far tamer. Let's kick covid in the butt, guys!
When the first COVID-19 vaccines made their way to Central City, Ed knew that Winry would want to be one of the first in line. Because that's how she was, after all. She always prioritized the needs and safety of others over the possible risks to her own well-being, especially when her automail patients were involved. It was one of the many reasons he'd married her.
However, Edward worried that she might develop some of the more drastic side effects, so he decided to accompany Winry on the train ride from Rush Valley to Central. After all, who knew what could happen if she was on her own, stranded hours away from help?
"Now, Winry, you know you can change your mind at any time, right? I'm not going to try to steer you away from this if it's what you're set on, but you know your patients and I would still respect your decision if you wanted to wait to make sure the vaccine doesn't cause any long-term damage to you, right?"
"Edward Rockbell," she frowned with her hands on her hips, doing nothing to diminish his pride in the name, "I could care less about some hypothetical damage if I even have half a chance at keeping my patients healthy and you know it. And besides, you never had such a high opinion of possible damage when you were involved." She raised an eyebrow.
"When I was involved, sure, but never when it was you, gearhead," he said softly, pulling her in for a hug. His hand held her head and ran down the length of her hair.
"Well, I'm doing it, Ed," Winry said into his shoulder. "Like it or not, I'm trying to protect you, too, even if I have to wait hours in line to do it."
"I could barely figure out what the heck you said between the mask and my shoulder, but with the way the line's going, I don't think you're gonna have to wait very long."
"Hm, I guess not."
"Now, I've researched this. You know you have to stay in the monitoring area for fifteen minutes afterwards, right? You know to stretch your arm so it doesn't get so sore, right? You know to keep your vaccination card…"
*****
Much to Edward's relief, Winry showed no signs of any negative side effects. They went out to dinner (unfortunately, at one of the restaurants the Colonel had recommended), and the train ride back to Rush Valley would have been almost boring if Ed hadn't entertained a child by drawing a transmutation circle that made a loud, garish toy when the child activated it.
And then they got in the car.
Winry cranked the car and made a stop at the nearest gas station while they took turns going to the bathroom. Two minutes down the road, however, the blood began to drain from Winry's face.
"Winry, are you doing alright?"
"I'm fine, Ed. It's not like I can't drive or anything." Several seconds later, Ed spoke again.
"Are you sure? Because you look like you're about to throw up."
"I'm—" she blanched.
"Winry Rockbell, pull over or I'll pull over for you!"
Thankfully, she obeyed and put the car in park.
"Now, don't move. I'll come around and get you."
"Ed, I'm not that bad."
He opened her door and pulled her out. "Get some fresh air, Winry. I'm gonna help you to the passenger's side, okay? This is why I came with you."
"I don't need—" she stumbled, cutting off the rest of her sentence.
"You were saying?" Ed chuckled after catching her with the arm that was already around her.
"Oh, just drop me in the car, will you?"
Fortunately, it was only a half hour drive to the other side of the city, but Ed feared that Winry's condition might worsen drastically in even that short a time frame.
First, he noticed her breaths get shorter and faster.
"Winry, do you need me to roll the window down? I'd help you on your side if I could."
"Y-yeah, maybe."
A few minutes later, he heard her whimpering quietly. He laid a comforting hand on her thigh. "What's happening? Is there anything I can do?"
"I don't know. I should have known this would happen. Even a normal flu shot wipes me out the whole next day, plus I hear it's worse if you've had covid before, and who knows, maybe I did, and—" he squeezed her leg, and she added in a small voice, "Maybe you could hold my hand?"
"Of course I'll hold your hand, hon," he smiled for her sake, adding under his breath, "and maybe speed a bit so we can get you home faster."
A few more minutes, and her whimpers grew louder. Winry's hand gripped his like a lifeline.
"Ed, I can't do this," she panted.
"You're so freaking strong, Winry. Just hold on a little longer. Squeeze my hand as tight as you want."
Her bone-crushing grip renewed his sense of urgency.
"Help me," she pleaded.
"What can I do, baby?"
"Help me," she echoed. "It hurts. It hurts so much."
"I'm getting you home as fast as I can. You're amazing, Winry."
She only moaned in response.
"I wanna die, I wanna die, I wanna die," she wept.
"Shh, I love you too much for that. You're my wife. You're my strong, brilliant, amazing wife, and I'd give up my entire body before I'd let you die. You hear me?"
"Mhm."
"Hey, do you remember when I said your hands are meant to give life?"
"Mhm."
"Well, keep holding my hand so that my hand give you life. We're so close. Just hang in there."
"I still wanna die," she sniffed.
"I'm gonna do what I can, okay, baby?"
Ed did his best to keep his hands from trembling. He had to stay strong for Winry. But what if this was a rare side effect? What if she actually was dying? No. No. It was just a vaccine. It'd be ridiculous if she was actually dying, but it didn't keep him from wondering if she needed to see a doctor. But please, he prayed to any deity that would listen, please let me do something for Winry.
So he sang. He sang her the lullabies of Trisha Elric. He sang her the old, cheesy love songs she had a soft spot for. When he ran out of those, he sang an oddly gentle version of some pop punk songs he listened to. He sang anything he could think of, from classic musicals to popular songs that Winry danced to, even if he thought they were trash.
Although her moans and whimpers didn't grow any quieter, she mewled, "You sing really pretty, Ed. Why don't you do it more?"
"If you make it through this, I'll sing for you whenever you want, Mrs. Rockbell. What song do you want next? We're almost home, and then you can lie down and I'll get you whatever you want. Does that sound okay?" He pressed a kiss to her hand, keeping his eyes on the road. He'd probably regret his promises to sing, but right then, he couldn't care less.
Ed took her song request and parked in front of their home shortly after. Walking over to the passenger side, he carefully pulled Winry out and carried her up the stairs past her shop to their apartment above it. She curled into his chest until he laid her on their bed.
"Equivalent exchange," he kissed her burning forehead. "You've taken care of me when you and Granny had to give me life-saving surgery after I lost my arm and leg. Now I get to look after you when you need me."
Winry smacked him weakly. "Alchemy freak."
"Gearhead," he laughed softly. "Try to sleep, if you can. I'll be right here the whole time if you need my hand again. Just tell me if you need anything, and I'll get it."
She smiled, then crumpled with a moan. After several seconds, she turned her head to look at Edward.
"Even if I want a purple polka dotted hippopotamus?"
Ed laughed. "Even if you want a purple polka dotted hippopotamus."

Stability Chapter 7
Otis Driftwood x Reader
( I don't own these gifs)
Tumblr media
"I'll never be your beast of burden
My back is broad but it's a-hurting
All I want for you to make love to me
I'll never be your beast of burden
I've walked for miles, my feet are hurting
All I want for you to make love to me"
Otis heard you before he saw you, dancing and singing in your cut off shorts and tired shirt. Your walkman swung dangerously back and forth on your hips as you sang to the rolling stones song while you washed your car. It was a super hot summer day in the unforgiving heart of texas. The car was your baby. It was a gift from Otis for your birthday, you had fallen in love with it when they towed it to the house after the last group of victims was captured. You told him you always wanted one of these so he and Rufus secretly fixed it up for you. He still insisted you go everywhere with him in his truck but you convinced him to let you drive yourself once in a while ( but not too far ) Spraying the hose over the hood you leaned over to get the farthest part, your ass poking out in the air.
"Am I hard enough?
Am I rough enough?
Am I rich enough?
I'm not too blind to see"
It was obvious the music was so loud you didn't hear him as he dragged a screaming victim toward the shed in the back. He stopped dragging her for a second to watch you and laugh softly. Well, that's adorable and hot as shit he thought to himself. The poor girl he was currently dragging took this opportunity to claw and bite at his hand in an attempt to get away in. For A split second she did, She wiggled out of his grasp and tried to take off towards the road. He quickly grabbed her and threw her on the ground pulling her by the hair back towards the house. All this while you were none the wiser, enjoying your song on your headphones. He resumed his spot leaning against the house staring at you.
"I'll never be your beast of burden
So let's go home and draw the curtains
Music on the radio
Come on baby make sweet love to me"

You sang the last part a little louder using the sponge as a microphone. You were getting into this what you assumed was a solo performance. Swinging your hips back and forth you grabbed the hose and sprayed all over the trunk of the car. He was thrusting the girl back and forth by her hair to shush her as he leaned against the side of the house watching you. "Damn bitch shut the fuck up!, I'm trying to enjoy the view". He looked toward her in disgust that she would dare shrek and distract him. "Mister please let me go, I won't tell anyone". " I SAID SHUT UP"
He suddenly heard the music better now, he looked up to see you with your headphones down now around your neck the music softly playing in a muffled tone. Staring at him with a smile slightly leaning against the car. " Whatcha doing there is handsome?". " Watching you " he smirked.
"Am I hard enough?
Am I rough enough?
Am I rich enough?
I'm not too blind to see"
"Oh are ya now? So ...what are you gonna you do with her?" You pointed with the sponge at the dry heaving girl still on the ground with her hair in his fist. "Ah I don't know" he looked down at her then back at you " any ideas?" He lifted an eyebrow at you. "Maybe a few" you bit your lip a little tilting your head to the side. " I was going to tie her up in the shed and try that experiment I was running with you the other night but I don't think she's gonna survive. She also won't stop squirming", he chuckled and thrust her a little bit more back and forth. She muttered something inaudible. "That's fine," you said, tossing the sponge into the bucket. " We can tie her to the bed after she might stop squirming then." You flashed him a wicked smile.
He winked at you, "my god woman you are wicked...have I told you I love you lately?" He asked, clearing his throat, the bulge that started to grow in his jeans was becoming more and more distracting. "Hmmm" you replied " maybe but you can show me how much you love me later" you leaned on the hood of the car allowing for him to get a good view of your shirt.
He hastily sucked in the air standing up quickly, "hold that thought" he says turning back toward the shed. "Hey! " You shouted he turned back to you real quick, spinning the poor girl as well, her feet and legs dragging.  You took the soapy sponge and tossed it at him, smacking him in the chest soaking his white shirt. He cursed under his breath then laughed, wiping his face with his other hand. "You are gonna pay for that as soon as I'm back from tying this bitch up". He looked back at you one more time while heading back to the shed.
Oh, little sister
Pretty, pretty, pretty girls
Ooh, you're a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty girl
Pretty, pretty, such a pretty, pretty, pretty girl
Come on, baby, please, please, please

"God I hate this fucking song can you change it?"... "OTIS hello?". Baby sat up from the floor of the van and snapped her fingers at Otis. "Hey get your goddamn fingers out my face woman the fuck is wrong with you" he angrily swatted at Baby's hand as she attempted to snap in his face again. " I said I don't like that song so change it" "I don't give a flying dick what you like, I'm drivin' and we're leaving this song." She slumped back angrily onto the floor. Earning a chuckle from her father Spaulding. "S'not funny daddy" she snapped at him crossing her arms. "Oh lighten up there kiddo you know the rules, the driver picks the music".
Spaulding had finally met up with both of them at the motel. Although it had taken him a while due to some personal delay he arrived there in the nick of time to help finish off torturing the poor victims. After killing the rest of the family the daughter of Roy and Gloria was left to wear her father's skin on her face and be hung up behind the door to scare the unfortunate housekeeper when coming to assess the room. unable to get her father's skin off and running in a frantic the daughter unknowingly ran into the highway to be hit by a semi-truck. Using the van they stole from them they attempted to meet you at the next stop.
Otis only hoped they weren't too far behind you. Suddenly Baby perked up and glanced at the passing billboard." Just in case anyone's interested, I think I'm gonna be wanting some ice cream in about 10 miles" she excitedly looked back toward her father and then to Otis. Otis looked over at her and repeated her [in a mocking tone]  "I think I'm gonna be wanting some ice cream in about 10 miles." Baby looked back at home with an angry expression "Hey DON'T you fucking imitate me, it's fucking rude!"
Otis:" Fuck you", Baby: "Fuck you! "Two fucking seconds for the kid, is that gonna kill you?" Spaulding interjected getting real sick of the interaction between the two of them.
"Yes, it is going to kill me! I have calculated the time, and two seconds is the exact amount of time that is a hazard to my fucking health!" Otis replied visibly getting more and more annoyed with the idea of stopping. " What the fuck is your problem? I'm in and out in two seconds!" Baby snapped at him.

Spaulding laughed a little "You know? I think I'm gonna get me some tutti fucking fruity." "Tutti fucking fruity, that sounds good!" Baby said nudging her father. "I'm glad that finding y/n doesn't mean shit to either of you now I know who is taking this seriously" he gripped his hands on the steering wheel in anger. These fucking idiots he thought to himself. " Wow excuse you…. How dare you imply I don't care about finding my BEST FRIEND. You know she meant the world to me before She meant the world to you, she was my best friend before she was your wife ok? I met her first… don't think because I'm not sulking like you I don't worry about her. But she's stronger than you give her credit for and you've been treating her like a child!!!". Otis didn't respond to her, he was getting madder by the second. He simply gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white.
"I suggest we go see Charlie lay low there for a night before heading to the next motel," Spaulding said looking over at Otis. " Why the fuck would we do that?" Otis asked, slightly gripping the steering wheel even harder. Being away from you this long was not good for his mental health. It was throwing him off his game. It was making him anxious and nothing made him anxious. This was a very foreign and uncomfortable feeling to him. He wanted to get rid of it and to do that he had to find you. He only anticipated being away from you for maybe 12 hours and even the thought of that made him very uncomfortable.
It's now been days this is unacceptable he needs to find you. "Look I saw on the news that the police are already on your tail. It's best that we throw off their scent a bit and lay low one more day can't hurt y/n is a smart girl she's gonna be alright". Otis didn't reply, he simply looked at the long stretch of road. Spalding continued, "I would hate to lead anyone to her Otis, Baby is right we care about her too but she's tough and smart I'm sure she's seen the news she will get the idea why we aren't there". "I don't trust that fucker Charlie" Otis finally replied with a sigh. Spaulding chuckled "yeah welp get over it".
They drove through the rest of the afternoon only stopping for ice cream of course to prevent any distress from Baby and Spaulding. Pulling up to Charlie’s fun town, Otis’s annoyance grew more by the second. He hasn't been back here in years, he used to come on occasion to enjoy some of the girls here, but that quickly changed when you came around. He didn't like or trust Charlie, he had an inkling that this man was only out for himself no matter what Spaulding said.

She Wouldn’t Be Gone || Leon S. Kennedy ||
Prompts:
Saying I love you- 22: Muffled, from the other side of the door.
A/n: Here is some good old Leon Angst because why the hell not..probably sucks cause I’m horrible when it comes to writing angst.
also i turned it into a song fic {{ lyrics Italicized }}
Song Here {{ Listing to it may help }}.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dating a man like Leon S. Kennedy was never an easy task, he was gone a lot of the days and sometimes it felt like when you two where actually together he his mind wasn’t even their. You started to feel like the man didn’t care about you at all. Did he even love you? that was a question that’s have been running through your mind recently.
You felt like he cared more for Ada more than you and it was getting to a point where you couldn’t take it. It hurt watching him leave, with out giving you a second glance and thanks to Chris you knew just how close two where. Clutching the phone tightly in your hands you tried to stomach what the man on the other line was saying to you.
“Thank you Chris...I...I’ll talk to you later.”After hanging up you clutched the phone to your chest. You weren’t going to cry, that’s what you told yourself until you entered the bedroom your shared with Leon. Locking the door you glanced around the room. Maybe Chris was right, maybe it was time to leave the man.
Gathering the courage you started to pack your things, you wanted to get this done before he came home, maybe it was the cowards way to go but you didn’t think you could face him. Clutching your suitcase you made your way out of the bedroom. Hanging your head low, your fingers held on firmly to the handle as you walked through the apartment.
“Goodbye Leon.”
Shaking your head you placed a small note on the table you walked out the door hating it will be your last time being back here.
Red roadside wild flower if I'd only picked you Took you home set you on the counter Oh, at least a time or two Maybe she'd thought it through.
When Leon first entered the apartment the man was expected to be greeted by your sunny smile and welcome back. Not the eerie silence he was in right now.
“Y/n.” Maybe you were sleeping, that had to be it. He tried to ignore the pain in his chest as walked to the bedroom, you couldn’t have left. Opening the door the man swallowed the lump in his throat, the room was empty and as he started to check for your things but of course your draws were empty.
“Y/n!” shouting out your name he prayed that this was a joke, it had to be. Glancing around he ran his fingers through his hair fully checking the apartment. It wasn’t until he spotted the note that he knew you’d left, grasping the letter it suddenly felt heavy in his hands. Reading it over the mans heart sunk as he rushed out the door as the note fluttered to the ground.
Yellow sunset slowly dipping down in the rear view Oh, how she'd love to sit and watch you I could have done that a whole lot more If I hadn't been so stubborn, been so selfish Thought about her more, thought about me less Joked and make her laugh, held her when she cried.
Leon cursed to himself, the man felt like an idiot though he knew he had to fix this. Slipping into the car he tried to push back the memories that suddenly came flooding back to him. He shouldn’t have been so stubborn and selfish, you should have his first priority. He should been their to make you laugh, to hold you when you cried. Not to just lave you on your own whenever he had some stupid mission to do.
A little more that, maybe I Wouldn't be driving like hell flying like crazy down the highway Calling everyone we know stopping any place she might be Going any place she might go beating on the dash Screaming out her name at the windshield tears soaking up my face If I had loved her this much all along, maybe maybe, yeah maybe She wouldn't be gone, she wouldn't be gone.
Gripping the steering wheel tightly in his hands he knew he had to find you, Leon didn’t care how fast he was driving. Slamming his hands on the dash he screamed your name at the windshield not knowing he was even crying, though he couldn’t help but think that if he loved you this much then you wouldn’t be gone.
She warned me it was coming said if I didn't change She was leaving I just didn't believe she would ever really walk out, God, I believe her now Called her mamma, cried like a baby to her best friend If they've seen her, they ain't sayin', they ain't sayin' Now, I'm cursing like a fool, praying it ain't too late All I wanna do is fix my mistakes.
You hard warned him, you told him that you’d leave if he didn’t change. Leon just didn’t believe that you would ever walk out but god did he believe you now.Squeezing his eyes shut he then tugged out his phone, trying to keep his voice from breaking he called your mother though she didn’t see and his next choice was Claire, she had to know where you were. You two where best friends.
“Claire...please tell me you’ve seen y/n...” Though he couldn’t help but break down once the woman talked to him, he knew he deserved to get yelled at by her but when it came down to it she hasn’t seen you.
Brushing the tears away, he quickly tossed his phone to the passenger seat. If they have seen you they certainly weren’t telling him.He knew it was his fault but he just hoped he wasn’t to late. He just knew that he had to fix his mistakes, he would make it right.
Find her beg her for one more try, until then damn it I'll Be driving like hell flying like crazy down the highway Calling everyone we know stopping any place she might be Going any place she might go beating on the dash Screaming out her name at the windshield tears soaking up my face If I had loved her this much all along, maybe maybe, yeah maybe She wouldn't be gone.
Leon would find you, beg you for one more try. He wouldn’t fuck this relationship up, he was going to do anything for you. He hated that he made you leave.Using his car drive crazy down the highway he hoped he wouldn’t get pulled over though at the moment he didn’t care he was breaking the law by speeding. He called everyone they knew and stopped at any place that you’d like to go but he was getting nothing.
Glancing up at the rear view mirror he then caught a glance of his tear stained face, he just gripped the steering wheel tighter until his phone started to go off. Picking it up he ran his tongue over his lip not thinking twice about who it might be.
“Y/n?”
“Really Leon...I’m hurt..”
Slowing down, he knew that he didn’t have time for this. “What do you want Wong?”
“Wong...back to using my last name? this is the thanks I get for finding your little girlfriend...will maybe not girlfriend anymore.”
“What?” that made him slam on the breaks to his car causing the thing to screech across the road. “Tell me....please..”
“Well since you sound so pathetic and it’s a little cute how worried you are and how much you messed this up...I’ll tell you...but Kennedy...you got one shot at this...try not to screw up it.”
I wouldn't be beating on the dash Screaming out her name at the windshield tears soaking up my face If I had loved her this much all along, maybe maybe, yeah maybe She wouldn't be gone Red roadside wild flower if I'd only picked you Took you home set you on the counter, oh at least a time or two Maybe she'd thought it through.
When Leon pulled up to the motel he hated how nervous he felt. Glancing at the motel number of the room you were staying in he slowly made his way to the door. Only to get a glimpse of you through the window and that’s when his heart stopped. You were crying, is one thing he could see. Did he really do that to you?
What kind of stupid question was that? Of course he did that to you, of course he was the reason you where crying though he wanted to make this right, he had too.
Making his way to the door, giving it a small knock he knew you must have looked through the peephole.
“What do you want Leon? why are you here?”
“Y/n...please open the door...I need to talk to you...just please. Please open the door.”
“Leon...just please go.”
“No..I..go I’ll go...just let me..just let....just let me say this and I’ll go...you don’t have to open it.”
Pressing his head against the door he closed his eyes doing his best to push down his emotions.  “Y/n....I know I fucked up....but I love you..and I know you can do better than me but I’m to scared to let you go...just give me another chance...please.”
Hearing the door open, he stepped back to see some tears slipping down your cheeks. Stepping closer, you frowned then wrapped your arms tightly around his waist. “I’m giving you chance Leon.....don’t fuck this up.”
“I won’t.....god I promise you I won’t.” He whispered still holding onto you.
Holding onto Leon, you knew he would keep his promise and if it wasn’t for that call with Ada you part of you knew you would have been long gone.
Glancing up at the man you then pressed your lips against his cheek. “Let’s go home.”
As you two walked towards Leon’s car you missed the woman watching you leave.
Smiling to herself, Ada slipped her sunglasses back on as she turned towards her bike. While the woman enjoyed the banter her and Kennedy shared she knew that his heart would always belong to you and that was something she was fine with. After all, she was the one that convinced you to come here in the first place.
“Good luck you two.” Glancing over her shoulder the two of you were already in the car driving off. “They do make a cute ship.”
