Ya know how there are coming of age movies about puberty in this reality. Well what if in omegaverse there are coming of age movies about your secondary gender. This brings up a ton of questions… I.e. Which demographic would it be market to? Alphas or Omegas? Would there be a health class 2 for your secondary gender? In omegaverse which one has the more-- girly-- type of marketing where it's used against omega's by alphas who are marketing products but can also show an illusion that omega marketers have power in the industry… Or is it the other way around? Do alphas have to have the kinda awkward advertising that's like "Hey there Alphies (bc they always say like hey girlies or something) don't you just hate when you go into rut (Is that an alpha thing? Haven't read omegaverse in a while) yeah, rut I said it the big r word." How would Betas react to being in the cross fire of this? Do you think there would be debates on whether famous historical figures were alphas/be- tas/omegas in history class and would history sweep AIA or OIO relationships or heck being an omega at all under the rug like being gay was?

Ok lets go bit by bit

Coming of age movies: I feel like the big blockbuster-y ones would be in a pretty even split, maybe more towards Alphas tho. A lot to explore there about “dangerous” instincts and all that. HOWEVER, the indie ones that become classics? 100% about a Beta born in a family of Alphas, specially considering that in more canons, Beta is the most common secondary gender. Very much talking about not being special, thinking your whole life you are going to be something and then not. Tell me you can't imagine that story with those warm summer colors and soundtrack typical of indie movies.

Health Class: oh, absolutely. You know it's terrible and riddled with stereotypes, but there would def be a very vague health class given for the younger tweens around the age they present. Afterward I imagine some schools do the whole separating the class accordingly and explaining more things, still in a very vague way because even in this universe sex ed is shit. Actually, I think in Tadaima they said that Alphas and Omegas had completely different classrooms/schools, so in that universe I wonder if the info is worse or better.

Marketing: See this one is where it gets fascinating because the one thing about the omegaverse is that it has so many versions! The social hierarchy changes a lot from one version to the other, too. You see some were omegas are seen as more powerful, at least in a traditional way as the "heads" of their dens; while in others we see what I feel is what most people imagine with Alphas being thought of as the “best”. Betas are always kind of ignored, tho. So I feel like a lot of that whole “empowering” thing would depend on a lot of that. I would say for things like ruts and heats and suppressants, if you are in a version more modern and progressive, all of it would be painfully embarrasing and vaguely patronizing with commercials that would be so out of touch they would become memes.

Betas: I honestly think that Betas would generally get the better deal. As I said, in most medias you find them as the majority, and they dont have to suffer through any of the shit the others have to. I assume there would be certain issues about Beta-Beta relatonship, maybe seen as unnatural and stuff, and maybe some issues around infertility. But socially, they probably don't have many problems.

Historical figures: Oh non-traditional abo relationships, my beloved! I do think there would be a lot of sweeping under the rug! Depending on the society, secondary genders could be considered a private thing or alternative way more tied to status than in the modern world, and I bet people would theorize a lot about it. Relationships that don't fit the mold would so be the “They were very good friends” of that universe, and stories about important figures remaining apparently unmated their whole life would make for big Oscar-bait kind of films and stories.

so lark. co parents. he cares for norm. he pretends fo be his brother to apologize for the bullshit he said. he does—in his fucked up, traumatized way—his best to prepare norm for things he might experience. theres no shame attached to norm like there is hero because hero’s birth almost ruined sparrow. ruined his perfect life with hsi perfect wife. so lark can step up when sparrow. cant. or doesnt. lark supports norm. maybe to make up for whst he cant do for hid actual daughter.

If I was to rewrite victorious Andre would be a cool trans guy who everyone in the school wants to go out w but hes actually secretly (not as much as he’d like to think, but still) pining for Cat, who’s actually aroace and pretty oblivious to his feelings, but she does entertain the thought of being w him which results in some silly situations like:

When she comes to Hollywood arts and the coffee incident happens there’s no romantic or sexual tension w Beck whatsoever (but Jade still hates her out of spite), they become very good friends w Andre just like in the show, is also good friends w Cat and Robbie and forms this unapologetically gay rivalry w Jade.

Jade is basically the same, just maybe less cartoonishly evil?? Still a lot of anger issues, bisexual she/they energy. breaking things and scaring the shit out of ppl. She dates Beck by the beginning but they very obvsly dont get along and its js as delightful as it is annoying hearing them argue abt everything all the fcking time and rant abt how much they hate each other js to not break up (they will eventually, dw)

Beck is not changed much, just more consistent. Sarcastic pretty boy, good actor, very blunt and open about his feelings, simply impossible to scare (maybe that’s why he managed to date Jade for so long💀)

Robbie is js the same weirdo w a puppet, except in this he’d lean more into a asshole-nerd trope. Is a fucking cunt to everyone, probably has big ass crush on Beck that he’ll never admit, flirts w every girl he sees out of insecurity, etc.

In this concept Rex is pretty much his own person, but since Robbie is a jackass then they are over all more similar, Rex still “bullies” Robbie, but it’s slightly toned down as they probably enjoy the same kinda things, have more compatible personalities, etc. Robbie’s js more awkward about… welll, everything.

Trina is still Trina, except we’d treat her like a actual character and not some “look, she’s bad at singing” joke

Cat is similar to her early seasons’ version, she is kinda dumb, volatile and weird but not completely out of it. She kind of knows how to play people (especially boys) to get what she wants. Most of her dumbness would actually be translated into obliviousness, Cat doesn’t notice thiings, she’s always in her own world and doesn’t rlly care abt “normal” things

In this Andre and Tori are best friends (none of the og chow fuckery where they claim beck and andre r besties somehow)

Cat and Robbie are completely platonic on Cat’s side while Robbie makes a few moves on her once in a while (w/o any intention of actually dating her)

Jade and Tori are just gay. I can’t really explain any way else. It’s the same as in the show, just more explicitly gay. Like, in the way where Jade probably goes out of her way to make Toris life miserable but gets very mad whenever someone else does it (shes probably screamed “only i can make her life living hell” at students in hollywodd arts more than once). Tori is also meaner to jade in retaliation, but theyre both kind of into fighting each other so its not rlly that much of a rivalry and more of a amusing thing. Theyre also weirdly jealous of each other. Jade chases people down the hall with scissors whenever someone makes a move on Tori

black dragon witch. shes the best. she has a tough and cold exterior but is such a delightful and happy woman on the inside. she secretly likes romance novels and has killed thousands. she tortured some people by dropping them in a blank dreamspace for thirty days. is besties with the protag. we love friendships between diff genders that arent romantic at all. the main chapters may seem romance potential but thats just gongja grovelling at the feet of anyone who is nice to him. shes ukranian and fled to the tower. nationality is pretty important for the guild leaders so ill be mentioning it. i know her real name but im not telling you. i know all of the guild leaders real names bc theyre gongjas besties

the paladin. shes so cool. captain of the vigilanre corps. only guild leader who has never killed anyone. always wears her full body armor, especially her helmet. shes a huge music nerd, and eventually does a jazz performance with gongja and black dragon witch. shes venezuelan and is one of the last characters gongja gets to know the name of even though she was one of the first to trust him

the countess. i swear the paladin and countess have something yuri going on. can shapeshift into a cat. once the paladin was getting really into talking about music with the countess in her arms and was petting the shit out of her. gongja wondered if the cat theming of the countesss guild was for the paladins tastes. he didnt like thinking like that. the countess is from an indian slum and worked her way up to having money. she considers money the most important thing in the world thats why shes so rich.

ester/preta: okay its kinda hard to explain her deal. its be best to read her arc since its beautiful. s1 of the manhwa. basically she was a goop monster that took the form of whatever it ate. she happened upon a girl in the forest and became her. she later became a saintess in her home town because she could cure people by secretly eating them. the king of her empire didnt like this and sent people to kill all of her village. she became the demon king of autumn rain in response and attacked the empire. gongja dies to her like 5000 times and gets her to retreat into her human form and back in time. he kills her and resurrects her into his ghost army. to replace the name she stole, he calls her preta. theres a funny scene where he makes her do acrobatics to prove to the kings army he can control her. she later regains the name ester once the family clan is established. i call her earthworm girl because of an unfortunate simile in the translation

ja soo jung: she shouldnt really be here in the chronological order since she isnt rightfully introduced at this point but she does appear to gongja, if only her voice and shadow. i honestly dont know how to explain her to you, she is a lot. she is the tower master, she created it. shes lived a lot of lives, and she can rewind and see time however she wants. she has control over all timelines, and she wants everything in the universe to blamed on her. she lets bad things happen, and forces gongja to watch. he sees her trauma, which is basically her whole life. she married her cousin, gay marriage but at what cost. honestly her arc was really fucking confusing and i didnt umderstand it, but the burden of god was understood. gongja has sex with his wife in her living room

sylvia evanail: im saving the best for last. sylvia is my evil terrible girl. shes basically "i had a crush on this girl and didnt know how to deal with it so i wrote her a note to get out of my school" she was so infatuated with raviel and jealous of her that she stole raviels fiance and tried to take her place in society. she even asked gods for help. that damn cow. she failed bc raviel is better than her and then had to join raviels family clan as the chancellor which is awkward.

so okay. i sing in the church choir right. i explained a bit like on how i started here. but basically after easter i came up to the choir director and asked if i could join. and she said "yes, welcome to our choir!". and thats how it all began.

the thing is i didn't grow up religious religious. i feel super out of place at church, idk what to do or how to act. so this whole time ive just been trying to pick up on social queues and do my best to not stick out like a sore thumb. so every time everyone does the cross thing, i do the cross thing, when people bow, i bow, when everyone gets on their knees, so do i. and it all feels pretty awkward i have to say. idk what the fuck im doing or why.

another thing is, im neurodivergent as fuck. i never feel like i belong anywhere. almost every social interaction feels like some kind of test that im failing at. i always feel like the person left out in a group. like my whole life ive just got used to the feeling of being an outsider. it feels like there are these rules everyone follows that i had not been informed of. everyone knows what to do and how to act. and all i do is imitate.

so in this sense church didn't feel too different. people look at me weird, i don''t feel included and everyone's following rules im oblivious too. seems like literally any other social setting, right?

and you may be wondering, why i decided to go to church in the first place if im not religious. well, singing there makes me euphoric and it really scratches an itch idk how to exlain it. the sensory stimulation part of the whole church thing like incense and the hymns that we sing and the aesthetics of it all, like it's very satisfying to me.

but back to the people there. so everyone there is always on edge. people are always shoving and pushing each other. and im always excluded. whenever music sheets are distributed im always skipped, so i often have to look over the shoulder of someone there to see what to sing. but often people dont even want to share with me. and everyone is in their little groups. theyre always whispering to each other and never talk to me. and no one says hello to me either.

so me with my little neurodivergent brain like i didn't think much of it at all. because, like i said, i never feel included anyway. im always the odd one out, like i have chronic imposter syndrome everywhere i go. and plus, i hope i don't get cancelled for racism, but i thought that everyone was mean and cold because they're russian... 💀 like forgive me pls, but like i just thought russians were unfriendly bc like eastern european resting bitch face stereotype. and i didn't want to impose myself and smile and wave if it's not a part of people's culture, right?

so anyway. ive been going to church literally every single sunday after easter without fail. ive been literally the most consistent person there, i show up every time. a lot of people only come like maybe every two weeks. and they don't stay until the end either. or they show up late. but im always there!

so yeah today i was there as usual. and the choir director comes up to me and says "you can't sing with us". and i was like what. and she was like "if you don't come to rehearsals and never show up you can't sing with us". and i was like shit, there are rehearsals??? and she looked at me like "yeahh 🙄 are you not in the groupchat?". i did a silly little chart of the relationships between the companions and delilah!!! (and benny is here). i know this isnt super interesting but sometimes u just make posts for yourself

some specific notes bc theres more nuance to their relationships and i like talking about my story LOL:

Boone and Arcade: they dont really agree on a lot, and they sort of grind each others gears. but theyre the two most important people in delilahs life so they've learned to respect one another. at the end of the day theyre not friends, but they know they can count on one another.

Boone and Lily: everyone on the team loves lily, but boone gets along with her best. he likes helping her cook and take care of the house, and listening to her talk about her life. Lily thinks that Craig is a nice, helpful young man :) during the postgame lily and boone are a common team to go on missions for New Vegas together!!

Arcade and Cass: Cass thinks arcade is pompous and judgemental. Arcade thinks Cass is rude and small minded. They're constantly sniping back and forth, and they're the only two on the team who seem to actually not like each other.

Raul and Veronica+Cass: they're the only two on the team who Raul can just chill and have a drink and a conversation with. (Delilah and Lily don't drink, Edie is a robot, Boone doesn't talk, and Arcade is somehow more annoying drunk than he is sober.) These three don't necessarily agree on everything, and they might not be friends in another world, but as it stands they all really enjoy each other's company.

Arcade and Veronica: they have so much in common I think everyone already agrees that they're besties forever. Veronica is friendly and sweet enough that she puts in the work to get over arcades awkwardness and break down his walls with her big power fist, and they just get along really well. Arcade sees his younger self in her, and wants to protect her (even tho he really doesn't feel qualified to be any kind of mentor or guide to anyone about anything). Veronica likes annoying arcade on purpose bc it's funny watching him get all >:0 grumpy. She's also the one who insists on including him when the group hangs out, much to Cass's chagrin.

Benny: if youre one of the people who has sent me asks about bennys role in delilahs story, i promise im GOING to explain. but not yet lol. its one of the most complicated dynamics in delilahs story and i want to show it through comics rather than just trying to explain awkwardly. i hope knowing that everyone but delilah wants to put him in a blender is somewhat satistying in the meantime. (thank you for asking about my story i ksis you on the forehead)

The show is gaining some traction and being recognized and praised and hopefully it'll get a lot more popular, its numbers aren't bad but they're not great either. The episode count is a huge problem they should be getting at least 10, ideally 12-13 eps a season, they have to do so much in so little time and they're doing an amazing job with what they have, s1 fell victim to covid and them having a main character leave and having to reshoot things without actors or locations, I think they've proved that they know what they're doing and the respect they have for the books and the characters, I really hope we get at least 8 seasons, we still haven't had a single complete great adaptation of a high fantasy book series, GOT doesn't count bc the books aren't complete the show was a mess in the last 2 seasons and it's fantasy adjacent. You can't just say you want the next GOT and then give them 8 eps when even thrones got 10 and it has a third of the number of books of WOT, these streamers forget how big of a risk GOT was at first no one wanted to do it it's by taking risks like that you get the next stranger things or breaking bad (which didn't break out (haha) until s3 or GOT which exploded in popularity by s2/3.

100% this. I think a lot of people forget that season 1 had to stop a few times because that was during Covid, so it wasn't going to be perfect. It was going to be choppy and awkward, moreso at the end, bc the situation they were in was choppy and awkward. I thought they were doing fine up until 6/7 when the pandemic shut them down. They did their best.

It will always baffle me that they only give them 8 episodes. That is two whole hours that can be used to do the world building or character building they want/need to do. This world and cast are too large and diverse for them to cram it all in 8 one hour (sometimes less, sometimes more) episodes. I loved the last few episodes. But, it felt rushed when all of a sudden, everyone is in Falme fighting. The Whitecloaks were only in one episode for maybe 15 minutes and now they're in Falme? Two more episodes could have given them time to cut back to them going to Falme. And don't get me wrong, I don't fault the show for that sudden jump. They had to wrap it up bc they ran out of time, bc they only get 8 episodes. And that's just one criticism I have of the season that points back to that, as most of my criticisms do.

I mentioned in an ask I got last week that I don't keep up with ratings and that I'm just here for the ride bc I love this story and the characters that I'm happy we got anything. There are two people I got to try to watch it. One is still watching it, I explained a few things about it, and she is enjoying it. The other person couldn't get past ep3 of last season, the biggest complaint being that she thought it was overdramatic. Most other people I know irl dont even know the show is going on. So, I said I wasn't surprised if the ratings aren't all that good for what I've seen. It's a small sample size, but I wouldn't have been surprised if mostly other people had similar experiences.

And I 100% agree on the GoT comparison. The first time I saw the "It's the new game of thrones" on a headline, I got so mad. It's not fair to put that on a new show when GoT was so popular in its hey day and then ended so badly that some fans can't even stomach it. Basically telling people that they get another shot with this show at a good fantasy show, and then have them be disappointed when it's not like the GoT they knew before that show spiraled.

I'm glad to hear that the show is getting some recognition. I'm glad for any bc I'd love to see it keep going. I love these characters. Changes and all. The scene with Mat made me sob, and I'm not kidding. Even the scene when Rand denied Ishamael, I got choked up. I hope it keeps going❤️

Its the anon who sent an ask about sharing the origins of my favourite slang term in portuguese :b it took a few days to send this because this is actually the second version of this text, i wrote the first one directly in your ask box and i poured my heart and soul into it and then tumblr crashed and deleted everything and it was so frustrating i needed a good day or two to get it back together lol

With that said!!

I want to preface this by clarifying that this isnt etymology of the actual natural word (thatd be boring and you can look it up on google, latin origins and whatnot), this is more like an explanation in detail to how the natural word came to be its slang version. Though, Ill have to get a bit into the grammar to try to explain the nuance of this branch of portuguese, nothing too much but yknow, be prepared

Also! I havent found anything online detailing this explanation, and due to the everchanging nature of language and its dependence on word of mouth to evolve, there is no way to credit what im about to say, this is all from my own personal experience as a brasillian and asking around about it to people that use the term.

Okay!! With that out of the way!!

One of the things that differs portuguese and other romance languages from english is that our verb conjugation not only varies with the tense youre speaking, but also with what personal pronoun youre using. As far as i can remember rn, in english the conjugated verb only changes based on pronouns in the case of the verb to be ("is/are" changes based on pronoun) or when its conjugated in the third person singular simple present (when conjugated for he/she/it the verb gains an "s" ex. I sing -> she sings). In portuguese the verb conjugation changes every pronoun and every verb tense. Okay. Cool.

The relevant verb for this is the verb "ser", the portuguese translation of the verb "to be" specifically when it refers to a permanent state of the self or to atribute a quality to the subject. More specifically the relevant conjugation for this is the third person singular present "é".

It can also be used in the second person plural present informally, so its used very very frequently, like, you can imagine by how often you use "is" to talk about someone else on a regular basis yknow. What im saying is that "é" is used a lot okay you get me

So, as youve definetly noticed, "é" uses a diacritic, its no big deal really, portuguese uses a lot of diacritics, more than spanish and french definetly, so when you grow up typing in portuguese you learn to type with them. Its just. A tiny bit awkward you know. Bc like, it takes a second more to type them, and it really throws you off your rhythm yknow? But like its okay, its okay, as any lazy brasillian can tell you, the solution is easy! When we dont want to take the time to type the diacritics we type without them and pick the suggested autocorrect version with the diacritics and it fixes the word!! Great!! Very handy!!!

"But where are you getting at anon?" The rethorical and hypotetical version of you asks, "it seems like it works, everything ties up neatly, and you havent even said what the slang term we're getting to is!!" Well reader im getting there okay, have a little patience, for you see, things do NOT tie up neatly, far from it actually.

Well, you see, preference for the autocorrect is determined by frequency, so if you type without the diacritics and theres more than one word that can only the diferenciated by the diacritics the autocorrect is going to suggest the version of it that is used most often right? Like, that makes sense, great! Cool!! Lucky for us "é" is used very frequently, right? Theres no other word with priority over that, right?? Right..??

Let me introduce you to "e", the portuguese translation of "and". You know where im going with this. I dont think theres any word used more often in any language than its version of "and". Like. Thats not even a question i dont think. Idk idk i dont have any sources its just my gut feeling about this. The point is that "e" is used more often than "é" so the autocorrect thinks you wrote it correctly and probably wont suggest the version with the diacritic for you to correct yourself.

Now. You can surrender yourself and just type "e" and hope the person you sent it to can guess that you meant the verb and not the conjunction. But thats a risk youll have to take, and also its a pretty bad look yknow, people might even think you dont know the difference! That would be terrible!!

So what are lazy brasillian people like me supposed to do?? Waste a second typing the diacritic manually??? Be seen as dumb?? Oh.. woe is us... for we cannot express ourselves clearly and fast... life sure is terrible... ;-;-;-;-

Wow this got very dramatic very fast huh, okay okay, lets de-stress a little from all of that grammar and all of that drama with a fun fact okay? Yeah that sounds fun :b

Are you familiar with the concept of a homonym? Its has multiple meanings, but for the purposes of this fun fact the relevant meaning of it is "when two (or more) words have the same pronunciation but two distinct meanings and spellings". Thats cool right? I think homonyms are really fun! But also im a nerd so my definition of fun is... questionable... but regardless!! We talked a bit about diacritics right? Did you know that the portuguese word for diacritic ("acento") has a homonym? Yep! And it means seat ("assento")!! Isnt that so cool?? Like when talking to someone you can only rely on context to know if theyre talking about a funny little symbol or about a bench!! Very cool yep yep :b

Yes, that fun fact helped de-stress from my being-too-lazy-to-type-a-diacritic predicament, i feel better now. You know what makes me feel even better? The fact that i tricked you!! Muahahaha!! That fun fact was just a ploy!! A writing device to make the explanation seem engaging while also giving you relevant information!! Yess!! You fell for my trickss!!! >:3

Okay okay, ill explain, i swear this is getting to the end okay itll be just a little bit longer if youll indulge me.

The trouble we, hypothetical lazy brasillians, had is the following: we need to find a faster way to type "é" in such a way that differs it from "e" and leaves it clear the word and pronunciation is different.

Heres something to think about: "é" is composed of "e" + the diacritic ´, or... heheh... if we want to be funny with it, "é" is composed of "e" + the seat ´. See what i did there? Heheh i used the homonym!! I told you it was fun!! Oh, if only we could just put the "e" in a little chair... thatd be funny and also itd indicate the diacritic... but alas... there is no way to simply draw what you type... and no letter could represent a chair... or... could they..???

Heres a solution: have you ever seen those little middle school jokes about how "h" kinda looks like a chair from the side? No?? Well it doesnt matter, but you see what im about to say right? Thats the solution!! Thats what we'll do!! We'll just type the "e" with a little chair beside it!! Problem solved!!!

Heres my favourite typing slang term in portuguese: "eh"

I just love it so much, its so simple yet so whimsical yknow?? Everytime ive asked someone why we started typing "é" like "eh" the only reason anyone i asked could find is because it has a little chair!!! And okay theres no way of being sure this was the original thought process since the evolution of "eh" isnt documented anywhere i could find since its very informal speech. But like!! Its such a sweet explanation that even if isnt the original intent i still choose to believe it is yknow??

I love my little word that comes with a chair!! I love the little in-jokes that language ends up incorporating into itself as it evolves!! I love how silly it is and how prople just thought "oh thats cute and also convenient" and just adopted it into their speech patterns!! God linguistics makes me want to cry from happiness sometimes!!! *slaps the roof of language* this bad boy can fit so much love and care and sillyness and community in it!!
