My Broken Mariko is a poignantly raw story. Shiino loves Mariko and always did her best to protect her best friend since childhood, but there were times she could come off disinterested and at one point lashed out at Mariko frustrated thinking her friend was fucked up in the head for going back to her abusive ex.
They weren’t always perfect but make no mistake. Shiino and Mariko were intensely devoted to each other. They love each other deeply.
So when Mariko committed suicide it left Shiina devastated and angry. Her only friend took her life and she had to learn it from the news at some bar tv first. Their last conversation had Shiina thinking Mariko was fine. Shiino was angry at the world, at all the abusive adults that made Mariko’s life a living hell, at Mariko for leaving her behind without warning.
Shiino was prepared to jump to the sea to follow Mariko and the comical interruption by Makio did nothing to persuade her away from this action until they saw a girl running from the robber shouting for help. In that moment, Shiino saw Mariko.
Tumblr media
I nearly wept when Shiino’s came down hard on that robber. Was it impulsive? Yes. Was it awesome? Yes. Was using Mariko’s urn as an improbable weapon necessary? Kind of.
I think Shiino stopping the robber and saving the girl was her trying to make up for what she believed was her being too late to stop Mariko from being abused and not doing enough about it.
This was Shiino stepping up to be the adult the girls were supposed to have watching over them early in life to keep them safe and yeah using her friend’s urn was kind of inappropriate but it was awesome in its own way. It was like Mariko in a way helping her friend prevent a girl suffer the same fate she suffered.

So uh. Update(?)
I did give my crush the little hearts I made and they liked it! However, I did chiken out when it came to confessing. Meaning, I only told them that the hearts are Gojo themed and I'm planning on making Geto ones.
So I'm going to stay single forever and I will be at the corner of shame if you're searching for me.

Ok a rant. I have to say Buck is perhaps one of the most fascinating characters I have ever watched in a tv series.
A lot of credit has to be given to Oliver Stark because his acting had been phenomenal throughout every season, especially in intense and deep episodes.
After watching today's episode, I have to say I'm quite pleased with how it panned out. Also, as a person who is very hopeful about the future of buddie, the few scenes we got of Eddie and Chris was actually so meaningful that they didn't have to be many in number. It's not meant to be so easy. A sudden declaration or revelation of love. That would destroy the pace of the character arcs and their relationships. Instead we got a more emotionally expressive Eddie and a determined Chris. And that's actually more than enough.
And oh Buck my beloved. The ability to see and understand that your biggest enemy is more often than not yourself, is so difficult to attain. And he's made it so far. The entire pursuit for the meaning of happiness, love, peace– he can finally find that in himself; and maybe, this is just what he needs to be able to cut loose so much baggage.
I do not think the Buckley parents are redeemed. That was perhaps not the intention of the writers. I see it as Buck finding peace and maybe trying to find balance and letting go of grudges. Forgiven maybe, but not forgotten.
All in all this episode definitely slots itself into my favourite episodes' list.

Quietly rejuvenating my desire for Taliesin to run the Molaesmyr quest he’s desperate for everyone to forget about as the dm
Cuz Caddy can be done adventuring and that is okay
Who will go on the quest?
Why, the Clay siblings and maybe a token adult! Played by the McElroys

maybe this is just me but i think a lot of ppls bad faith (hah) representations of eiki are based on the christian ideas of hell and judgement, that if you do a bad thing once you're going to hell forever
That's definitely at least part of the reason + the fact that people associate judges with the jurisdictional institution and thus, cops
But that still doesn't excuse the fact that Eiki is implied to be a lot more lenient than other yama. Would rather have people in a position where they can't die and thus have no way for them to get to Hell if their actions are something that's seemingly going to remain unchanged and would cause them a bitter judgement if they were mortal (Youmu and Cirno).
Plus her card in UM... people were having such. opinions on her because of that card. The card itself allows you to pay 200 [currency] for Eiki to turn a blind eye at your death, allowing you to get a second chance.
The translation itself reads "I know everything that you did in life before you died. ...Since you have that much money in your possession, it seems that you're worthy enough to get a second chance at life."
Now consider the fact that in Buddhism you don't pay your actual wealth you had at death at the Sanzu when you're about to cross. That money you given the psychocomp (or in this case, Komachi) is the money other people have spent on you during your life. A lot of money implies many friends and loved ones, few of it implies little to no of them.
These factors are in-line with how much karma you have (many loved ones imply low-karma which is good), but without going into too much detail, does the card itself imply that Eiki is corrupt? Yes, in a way, but she was already shown giving unlawful advantage to mortals out of compassion before. Does this imply that she's avaricious? No way in Hell.
