going to keep this vague on purpose but playing reload has reactivated brain chemicals in me that i forgot i had.

i think i'd want to make a more thought out post later, but i think my favorite thing about reload (aside from seeing minato in full HD glory) is how much it's made me think about video games as a storytelling medium- specifically with what mechanics and game design imply for characters.

there's a lot of quality of life features added to reload that help players easily enter a flow state and get immersed in the gameplay (most notable with tartarus)! which is so dope! reload has been such a nice blend of the mechanics from both FES and portable and it feels like a love letter to persona 3 fans.

there are definitely mechanics i miss from FES (minato's ability to wield multiple weapons being one of them). i can't deny that FES has some dated mechanics that don't necessarily feel fun for the player experience... but!

i think i mostly miss things from FES because i feel like so much of minato's characterization (for me) was informed by the gameplay experience and mechanics (e.g. fatigue system). obviously there's still other ways you can put together his personality (his dialogue responses), but i think game mechanics are a bit part of it, for me.

but in spite of that, i think reload is a really nice introduction to persona 3, it's so much more accessible and has a bunch of things to help make it more fun :) so far i think i'd recommend it to people :D

Brainrot? Brainrot... or Drabble. Idk

I’m alive! Sort of? Honkai: Star Rail has viciously grabbed my brain the second I saw it and now I have thoughts... and this is also because I got yanked in by the throat from both the silly content and beautiful artwork.

And if it wasn’t enough to nail a coffin to my grave, Tumblr dropped a post from @channelinglament (which is this post right here) and now my brain’s keeping me up with thoughts.

Not sure if I’ll have enough energy to spare for actual posts, but maybe with enough food for thought, I might actually make a piece or two... might. Due to HSR’s brand of silliness, it might just be Shenanigans the Fic.

The thing that gets to me the most is the highest of Aeons part, like... the Aeon of Aeons and you know, while I still know almost nothing about how Aeons come to be, what if there’s that one Entity that just exists and gives power that basically ascends whatever is sentient.

Of course the term “Aeon” would not be applied until numerous of the ascended beings are present and people are suddenly aware that there are these powerful beings in the universe now that can literally affect everything and bring about a permanent change to their livelihood. One moment the universe is all calm and normal and then here comes the Aeons. People do not know how to feel about them at first.

Naturally, there will always be the curious type of people who would try to search for the cause of it.

Pop in lil old You, just trying to help everyone you come across who look to be in desperate need power to be able to change their unfortunate circumstances. Too pure of heart, harmless mischief maker, just overall the sweetest entity with the power to turn anything into gods... yes, this is how beings like Qlipoth and Nous are born.

Now this gets me thinking that the Paths existed as one big, singular Path with you as the origin point and the ending point. When you gift a part of your power to someone/something, a piece of the path branches out of the main path but still remains connected to you... whether out of devotion or because it cannot exist without you is up in the air (your choice tbh).

The people/Aeons would just feel so grateful to be chosen, to be given so much power to do what they wished to change/do most... this was before they discovered there were others like them, doing things different from them that may clash with their ideals and suddenly there’s an all out war because each of the Aeons believed that the others were sullying your name by abusing your gifts.

(While the Dusk Wars are happening, you remain in ignorance to the wars because there are mortals that are calling for help and you just can’t look away from them.)

Eventually most of the Aeons are either killed off by each other (i.e, Tayzzyronth the Propagation) or assimilated into another Aeon (i.e Ena the Order), leaving a great many Paths masterless and fraying in shards, which suddenly starts to affect you badly and the poor Aeons who were just trying to do your name justice are panicking.

No one knows what happened, or what was happening to you, and when Akivili disappears/died, you disappear as well. Everyone is grieving, and there are no more new Aeons appearing anymore.

Thus you are assumed dead by the universe  (this part came from another post that I can’t quite find ;-;) and later become forgotten just because... idk. Haven’t thought much past this.

Plot twist for the universe (not really a plot twist because there would be no story without the star of the show), you are not. You just got a bit (super) sleepy because the Paths that are masterless are without an ending point and therefore drains you because there is no one there to receive the power from the separated Path. You spent a lot of your energy mending the masterless Paths back to you which made you fall asleep by the time you were done.

When you wake back up is when the game starts, and being so out of touch with the timeline of the universe, you’re just one curious bean trying to figure out what’s going on.

No one can see you now though, which is just sad for you, but you realized they can sense you so you’re just doing your best to help them now. Kafka and Silver Wolf do not understand what’s going on except the strange warm and homely feeling that makes them feel invincible is suddenly there.

Also a mischief maker if the randomly destroyed property by the subtle urging is anything to go by... yeah, there’s something there.

Kafka and Silver Wolf feel oddly disappointed when the sensation leaves, but returns to Elio and mentions it to him. He then tells them that he may or may not have withheld information from them that an Aeon (the OG of Aeons) was going to be helping them. However they react is up to your thoughts... I haven’t thought of something for that part yet.

When MC (could be either) wakes up, the first thing they actually see is You... which makes you delighted because Yay, a friend to communicate with!. Neither March 7th nor Dan Heng could understand why the MC is talking to nothing, until they felt the warm and fuzzy presence nestled into them that they are suddenly aware that MC might be interacting with a higher existence that might be an Aeon.

They are naturally wary of you at first, but upon seeing the way MC interacts with you, doing some silly stuff by your apparent urging... they realized you’re pretty harmless and also very nice (in what way, also up in the air).

[Going back to the subject of other Aeons who are essentially your Emanators by all but name, they do not know you are alive until Nanook catches sight of you/felt your very real presence with the MC when the Doomsday Beast battle happens. They are very happy you’re back, but they’re very upset because why didn’t you tell them you were back? For what reason, you guys can think about it. 

Anyways, you’ve got an Aeon stalking you and MC now, keeping a close eye on you especially because they nearly lost you once and would like it if you didn’t actually die this time. When MC starts getting acknowledged by more of the Aeons, more of them are also going to notice you too and then join Nanook with the stalking thing.

Eventually if they do find you in reality... well, that’s up to your imagination. It can also be a race between them and the mortals who start to see you physically too since you’re the sweetest existence to ever come into the universe and it’s a must to protect that innocence of yours (or for some other reason).

Also highly debating if Aeon!You would be either Aeon of Origin (the beginning of the Paths/the Origin of the Paths if going by this type of story) or Aeon of Guidance because of the in-game thing that we all do.]

Uhh... that’s all my brain can come up with here... so I shall see myself out now! ;D

I have recently come to the conclusion that if my Genshin Impact account was self aware, my Bennet would be slightly even more unlucky than a regular Bennet. This is due to my birthday and since its coming up I've been brainrotting for the past few days. Let me explain:

Bennet's birthday is February 29th, aka Leap Year. This means Benny only has a real birthday once every four years, which is bad enough. But according to canonical game lore, when he doesn't have his actual birthday, he celebrates it on the 28th.

My birthday is February 28th.

Now, I'd like to think that in your typical SAGAU the creator's birthday is a BIG DEAL. I'm talking festivals, parades, feasts, gifts exchanged between friends and family as well as gifts offered to the creator! The whole nine yards! An entire world partying from sunrise to moonset.

So with this in mind, Bennet's birthday would either be celebrated the day after the biggest holiday party in Teyvat (meaning everyone who attends would be all partied out) or during my birthday (meaning that everyone would be focused on ME instead of Bennet, which is just unfair! He can't even take pride in being born the same day as the creator b/c he was born the day after!!!!).

Anyway, if I was isekai'd to Genshin and worshipped as a god, I would simply give Bennet his own holiday. Poor kiddo deserves a win and if it takes me telling my acolytes quote, "Everyone will to celebrate Bennet's holiday. No exceptions, no excuses. And if his holiday party doesn't end up a success, I will destroy all of Teyvat and then myself. :3c" then so be it. That last statement is a joke, but watching everyone try their absolute hardest to give my adopted little brother the best birthday possible would be worth the fear of the vague threat of the world's destruction in the eyes of my worshipers me thinks.

If you add to this brainrot, please feel free to ignore that last part if everyone panicking over the possibility of apocalyptic destruction makes you uncomfortable. Likewise, don't rush this out by my birthday if you don't have time. I'm also in college and have multiple assignments due both before and after my birthday so I know this upcoming week will be hellish in terms of academics. So don't push yourself, okay?

nirin's my bosmer werewolf dragonborn oc :D!! she's skilled in archery; sneak; and fire magic!

she's selectively mute!! and uses sign language; as well as a (very) limited version of dragon language to those who can understand it; namely paarthurnax; miraak and the greybeards.

she's also feral; an absolutel creacher; lives in the woods; and rarely interacts w/ society;

nirin; or 'nir in' is dragon language for hunt master!! its a name she came up for herself after paarthurnax suggested it. she doesn't actually remember her original name;

i like to think that when the events of the games start; or the moment someone is at the right place at the right time and gets picked to become the 'hero' of the games; they forget their name and a majority of their past life. she still retains her personality; skills and any uhhh;; adverse;; effects of her past!! she just can't remember it! one of these adverse effects being that she's a werewolf (meaning i have to use console commands to make her a werewolf immediately on every playthrough lmao).

as her name suggests she's VERY good at hunting! that's her full time occupation basically lmao. she sometimes visits the drunken huntsman in whiterun to 'sell' her catches, but its rlly just the concerned shopkeepers giving her normal people food and supplies to help her survive.

she has 2 main followers! lydia and miraak.

lydia is her first friend (technically caretaker) in skyrim. i like to think that jarl balgruuf assigned her to nirin out of concern for this Child being the dragonborn and tasked to slay Alduin of all beings, so lydia was tasked at making sure she becomes a well-adjusted person and doesn't bite as much sdfdffdjkl. lydia taught her the basics of reading and writing!! :D they parted ways a bit further into nirin's journey, specifically when she travelled to solstheim

oK SO a BIG part of nirin's character is her struggle w/ her dragonborn identity and the burden of her dragon soul. she 100% rejects the call to adventure, HARD. i hc that the dragon souls a dragonborn absorbs Stays with them in more ways than just making them more powerful; like,, the dragons' personalities, wills and their desire for domination stays with her, with the latter especially getting worse the more dragon souls she absorbs and it certainly doesn't mesh well w/ her werewolf nature fskfs. she comes to paarthurnax often for advice and companionship, but there's only so much he can do, seeing as he only has one (1) dragon soul and never interacts w/ human society.

this is where miraak comes in!!! :DD i've always thought the fact he's the First Dragonborn is Very cool, and that he can have some very interesting dynamics w/ the Last (nirin)!! like, the fact he's been dragonborn for thousands of years!! has killed MANY dragons before and very skilled w/ using the thu'um for combat!! in her story, miraak acts as nirin's (reluctant) mentor. she initially pulled him out of Apocrypha so he could take her place in defeating Alduin, but because of permanent injuries and a curse inflicted by Hermeaus Mora, he's been locked out of Sovngarde and isn't rlly in peak fighting shape to take on a giant dragon god. so he's stuck trying to make sure the last dragonborn doesn't die before she saves the world fjsflkdsjf.

nirin isn't happy about this, miraak is even mORE disgruntled about this.

in conclusion, nobody is happy in this story except for me >:)

Big Brother Ithaqua brainrot? Big Brother Ithaqua brainrot. Also feeding my age regression but we don't talk about that-

Pairings/Characters: Ithaqua - "Nightwatch" & YoungerSibling!Reader

(possible ooc due to the hunter not even being released in game yet, I got bored in the middle of writing this 😭)

Harsh winds blew through the Plateau of Lang, seemingly making a hissing noise as it cut through the sky with strong force. Pure white snow that you once played in now became the burial place of many poor souls who didn't know how to travel the storms your family was all to common with. You shivered, small trembling hands clutching around a blanket. Your bedroom cloaked in darkness with the only light coming through the bottom of the door of your bedroom, with the candles in the lanterns lighting up the hallway outside slowly burning away. You could see your breath materialize into cold huffs of air Infront of you, you knew you were going to freeze, living here in the mountains this long along with the lessons from your mother and brother you knew, but there was nothing you could do. Your legs were to weak to stand up for long without collapsing on you, you knew how to light a fire and if you could would re-light the fireplace in your room but were to weak. All you could do was sit there and shiver and hope, hope that maybe you'd somehow survive, hope your mother and brother would get back from watching the night, hope everything could be okay. You didn't know what time it was and what time your mother and brother would get back from their nightwatch duties, the beautiful shinning moon giving slight light to your freezing bedroom. You stared at it mindlessly, your brain doing anything it could to distract you from the cold numbing pain it was experiencing. So mindless infact you didn't hear the sound of the door to the small quaint cabin you live in open and the sound of footsteps towards you bedroom door. The door slowly creaked open as a figure popped their head into the room, their eyes trying to make out things in the darkness. "You're still awake? Why are you up? You know mom will be upset that you aren't going to bed at your bedtime." A familiar voice said as the person approached you, holding a lantern as they took off their hood revealing their face too you. It was your brother, Ithaqua. As soon as he put his warm hand on your shoulder his eyes widened in panic as he realized you were freezing. "Oh shi-, stay here okay?!" Ithaqua quickly rushed out of the room to grab some extra firewood and grabbing matches to light up all the candles in your room. In what seemed like seconds your room was lit up in light once again and you had been picked up and moved closer to the fireplace by your older brother. You felt a heavy but warm and fluffy piece of cloth wrap around your shoulders and chest, Ithaqua prioritizing your safety took off his coat he'd usually nightwatch in these cold mountains in and wrapped it around you. Wiping off any snow that remained on the coat as he hugged you from behind. You took a deep breath as your body started feeling like normal again, your blood flow slowly starting to return to normal. "What happened Y/n? You're usually so careful when it comes to taking care of fires. Thank the gods I got here in time..." Ithaqua muttered his hands running through your hair, combing it in attempts of both calming himself and you down. "I-I don't know, I probably fell asleep in the middle of managing it.. I'm sorry." Ithaqua patted your head and made a shushing noise. "It's okay don't apologize, it's not your fault. Be more careful in the future okay? I don't know what me or mom would do if we lost you.." You nodded and leaned more into the taller man behind you mumbling a "okay" back to him. "Are you still cold? If you want I can make you some warm milk." You shook your head leaning into him more as he smiled. "Okay, don't worry. I'm not leaving you. Not until the ends of the earth."

The plateau of Lang is many poor souls resting places due to the cold and the blizzards, almost everyday it takes a life. That's why the nightwatch job your mother and brother do is so important, it's believed death is the will of the gods, and defying death could be defying the gods. But for tonight, another soul the gods tried to take was spared by the benevolence of the nightwatchers.

Stiff stiff stiff stiff hi. Ok. Coming off of anon for this one bc the brainrot is too much ANYWAYS I was sending tcd asks like last week??? Idk ANYWAYS I JUST FINISHED WATCHING SECRET LIFE THE OTHER DAY AND I HAVE SOOOOOO SOOO MANY THOUGHTS. So many thoughts about TCD Scar and Secret life Scar. And also some of the things Martyn was saying about Scar lore-wise. I’m actually gonna put a few quotes from Martyn here about it:

“That [the end of secret life] was probably the beginning of a really horrible sort of descent into madness for Scar”

“Can you just imagine how distraught and how upset Scar is at just whacking that success button over and over and every time: ‘Win Secret Life’ ‘Win Secret Life’ ‘Win Secret Life’ just over and over and over again”

“Wanting it to either end for himself or for a new game to begin, like he is so deep in that loneliness and being left in a wasteland that he would rather either die or go into another death game — he doesn’t want to be alone”

Ok end of quotes here. I am just thinking SOOOO HARD ABOUT THIS OUGSHSH. I’ve been rotating this in my head for like 3 days now. First of all, like the whole secret keepers/watchers CONSTANTLY giving Scar tasks that end up isolating him from the rest of the server in a way (kind of like they know that loneliness hits Scar much harder than the others and they’re doing it on purpose to break him early on in the game), and then Scar building up those big deep slate walls around most of his base to physically keep people out (and even if it doesn’t keep people out physically, it’s still more or less reflects his mental state and how he’s treating everyone around him), and the whole sneaking around everyone and flitting between groups without committing himself because he knows (EVEN THOUGH HE TALKS ABOUT WANTING FRIENDS) that his best bet is to take advantage of having connections without actually getting attached to anyone (kind of like maybe he’s learned somewhere before that isolation is the best route for survival). GOD HES JUST LIVING RENT FREE IN MY BRAIN AAUGGHH. Also Scar just eventually accepting that he’s going to be isolated no matter what, and giving into what the tasks want him to be. BUT ABOVE ALL OF THAT. Him being surprised that he even won in the first place????

“How’d the guy with no friends win?”

And just being legitimately shocked that he actually came out on top and managed to survive everything. It’s like, even though he knew that not having any true connections gave him the best opportunity for survival he was STILL surprised to have made it out alive in the end. And back to what Martyn said about him being stuck there alone, just losing himself to madness because there’s nobody left but himself. it’s just like being back where he started again, utterly alone with no way out and nobody left to help him, and that he would rather be dead or living through another death game than be completely alone again. ok I’m done lol I am so sorry for going on that enormous ramble in your inbox HRJSKF :’)

This reminds me of an au I made relating to my immortal scar hc where Scar gets stuck in 3rd life and everyone forgets him. Only the winner, Grian, remembers him and he remembers that Scar is supposed to be another hermit-

Scar is the only one who didn't die at the end. So I can imagine him slowly going mad and maybe he's secretly hoping that maybe... maybe someone will come back for him. Someone will come save him, right?

The stars were painted under the abyssal night sky, decorating the black canvas with luminous dots, offering a show to gaze upon. The cold Sumeru air seemed to accompany your stargazing, it was silent, just like you liked it. A night for yourself, it was just you and your thoughts. So much happened lately, you were soaking up the feeling of laziness, doing absolutely nothing then just recovering your strength and relaxing. A well-deserved break, for a hero like you.

You have been waiting lately for The Balladeer to wake up, sitting on the step of a dainty cottage near Port Ormos, the thoughts of your conversation with Nahida flashing in your head. 

 When you mentioned that you’ve been encountering the sixth of the fatui member before on occasional times, and had a slight history with them, Nahida was more than pleased to hear that. No, but really, her big green orbs turned the size of kitchen plates. “You probably caught his eye if he kept you on his radar. Always meeting on such unfortunate events too” she said busying herself in scanning the rows of materials offered in front of you. She insisted on you accompanying her to the market, the villagers being more than happy to see both their Archon, and their hero, shopping together.

Why she called you here and for what...that was beyond your knowing. She was simply persistent about you being present there.

This conversation dulled into the back of your mind, the scene some weeks before materializing back before your eyes. The cracked floors and the giant robot looming over his fallen form. You wanted to do everything in your power to be by his side, cradling his face into your palms and checking his injuries..but you couldn't.

You couldn't show everyone you cared for the enemy. That's what he was, right? Just an enemy to you, you had to get ride of the fatuis. You had to find your sibling, and get home..That's all.

 “Do you like him?” 

You looked at Nahida, wide-eyed and shocked,a tremble in your grasp being evident before the weapon you held materialized away, the facade, the walls you built up around the others, cracking down because you knew..Nahida already knew that all.

 “I love him dearly, and I’d do anything if it means that he’s happy and safe.” And when she left you, a slight bounce to her step, the Archon turned to give you a friendly smile, her features showing only gratitude. “You’re a good person [Y/N]… Whatever you do for him, I know that he’ll appreciate it.”  

You walked back inside, to see him, the desire being so strong, taking a seat down at his bedridden body, the stool under you being still warm, sign that Nahida was present here until a few minutes until you popped in.

He woke up with a start, in the middle of the night. He calls your name in a furious manner, a bit irked and groggy, but you reply, letting your hands grasp his cold ones into your much warmer ones.  

“Nahida and I patched up your wounds, so it might be a bit uncomfortable. I am sorry for any discomfort that you might feel right now.” He was silent for a second, staring confused at your entwined hands only to take move his judging gaze to take in your features, the troubled look, the small tremble of your lips when he lets your thumb gently rub his beaten-up and bloody knuckles.

 “Why are you here? I thought after what I did that you would despise me. That you would pray to the gods above to punish me greater than ever before. But here you are...by my bedside, rubbing my hand and giving me..." Here he was, was he going to confess to you? Having the same feelings like you? Finally admitting there was some slight spark there? ”...that pathetic look." Maybe not..

 “Now I’m just utterly confused, thrilled, and curious… you’re here, still by my side. Why?"

You looked at him, a smile forming upon your lips, the same friendly gaze you gave him back then being present on your features. It made a pang and sharp pain go thru his chest but he ignored it, refusing to show any signs of inferiority, even through the walls he’s made, which had fallen off its height for quite a while. “I care for you so much.”  

All the betrayals he faced before were staged with underlying reasons to care, but you seem to differ from all those people in his past. So when he asked why you cared so much about him, after everything he did, and how many times he tried to end you, your answer continues to resonate with the emotion you always gave to him.

 "I care because it’s you. You deserve the good things in life. You deserve the love and support. You are an admirable and strong person. You are yourself, Scaramouche, The sixth of the fatui. ” 

When you cup his cheeks, and he feels the soft touch of warm hands caressing him so delicately, his walls started to crumble. You continue to shower him with words sweet enough that there was no need to honey your voice, not around him at least.

 “And my love is the bonus besides me looking up to you and what you can do. The power you hold...I care for you, and I love you. That’s why I’m always here by you.” 

Your hands held his two hands together, and you see his gaze softening up, scanning all your features to find any trace of you lying or trying to use him. But he found none.

“Can I hug you? Can I hold just like you deserve?" You ask softly, and he lets you hold him, his head finding comfort in the crook of your neck, taking your scent in. 

He ushers you to the futon he was sleeping on. His body shakes for a second, and you hold him tighter, hearing heart-wrenching sobs that make him look so vulnerable right now.

You stroke his hair, fingers itching to wrap around his body but remember the tube scars locations on his upper back, taking caution in touching the area only to opt-in wrapping a hand around his waist. “I adore you so much..” You whisper softly into his ear, starting to murmur softly so he knows how much adoration and love you held for him.

You remained in this position, giving him the comfort and all the support that he needed. When he’s done, he asks you to sleep with him for the night, and there was no way you could decline. Once he lays both of you down, your hands wipe away the tear strains.  

”I still don’t understand much… What is there to love about me? I am a monster, I tried to kill you [Y/N]! I wanted to murder everything you held dear, how can you even --" His babbling was stopped by an index finger pressing against his cold lips, his eyes rounding in confusion at you.

 “Everything.”  

 “What does that even mean..? You love all of me? Even after what I have done?” He asks out, blinking twice at your small nod and shrug.

“I love all parts of you, and I will continue to love you, even if the world will frown upon us, I will be there, holding your hand and cheering you on. Cause you deserve the whole world."

Oh no I accidentally wrote a whole lil drabble 😭 The Ler! Hermes brainrot is real man

Omg they're talking about which Gods scare them the most and Polites says a typical answer like the big 3, and Odysseus teases him about how he's shocked it isn't Hermes cause he's so ticklish. Polites gets flustered and enacts some fake bravado to hide it like

“Why would I be scared of a lame God like that? I'm not that ticklish-”

Eurylochus raises his eyebrows and chuckles like “Yeah, okay buddy. Whatever you say.”

Polites gets a lil defensive and pouty.

“I'm not!! Hermes doesn't scare me, okay? Zeus is way scarier-”

Famous last words lol. Hermes catches wind of the interaction, perhaps on a typical check in of Odysseus or in search of Athena and decides to have some fun. He lingers on the edge of Polites’ periphery, making him question if he's seeing what he thinks he's seeing and he eventually goes to Odysseus to confirm and maybe ask him to go away so he doesn't have to. Odysseus just winces sympathetically and laughs at him, a hand on his shoulder as his eyes twinkle mischievously.

“Ahh, that's Hermes alright. But you should be fine, right? You said you weren't scared of him. Good luck~”

Polites is left gaping after him at the betrayal and Hermes decides now is the time so he just poofs into existence and smiles innocently at him, waving Odysseus’ way who's watching with amusement.

“So; I heard you're not scared of me? Awfully bold for a Human with your…”

He trails off as his eyes scan him up and down and a smirk quirks his lips, already making Polites want to giggle.

“sensitivities. Though perhaps it's not too surprising, you do seem to gain quite a bit of enjoyment out of the whole arrangement, don't you?”

He laughs at the blush and frantic shh'ing that earns him as Eurylochus and Odysseus snicker and whispher amongst each other from afar.

“Oh trust me, my friend, they're already well aware. Why do you think they bully you so? Perhaps that's why you saw fit to provoke me as well, hm?”

Polities shakes his head as he backs away, a shaky smile already on his face.

“No, no! Of course not, your Grace, your Highness- I-I just-”

“Hermes is fine. They weren't exaggerating; you truly are downright endearing. I'll let you in a little secret, since I'm feeling charitable. You know, I don't even have to lay a hand on you to tickle you?”

He winks, and with a wave of his hand, Polities squeals and jumps away from what feels like a poke at his ribs, quickly followed by another and another until he's dancing in place trying to dodge the phantom tickles. Poor Polites is a flustered, jumbled mess.

“Point proven, point proven!! Please!”

Hermes hums in mock thought; smirking.

“Mm, Mm, much better! But enlighten me. Who's the scariest God again~?”

Politics feels a feather at his neck, and shrieks briefly as something squeezes his hips.

“Yhohohohou, you, Hermes!”

Hermes giggles and with another wave of his hand, the sensations stop, leaving him to crumple to the floor. Hermes leaves him with a water skin and a knowing, dare I say, fond smile and a ruffle of his hair.

“Good boy; do try to keep that in mind, yes? Ta-ta~!”

He disappears as quickly as he came and Odysseus and Eurylochus help him up, trying to hold back laughter of their own.

Eurylochus discreetly gives Odysseus his winnings for not holding out against Hermes behind his back. Then they both tease him.

“...See? Even the Gods think you're cute. Now you really can't deny it.”

“Looks like you were cursed after all~”

Polities just covers his face and groans, pouting, knowing they're never gonna let him live this down.

“Leave me alone…”

They are living rent free on my mind so let me talk about these two's similar themes and how that fuck me over.

For people who played these two amazing games, its apparent that both character is not well liked, for very good and funny ass reasons.

Their first introduction would make you squeal. The very first moment you met them, they radiate smug asshole energy.

Varre: *Explicityly says how you would die for nothing so easily in the land between. And you being bitchless.*

Heimdall: *Threatening our boy Atreus on a literal edge, wanting to drop him*

They look like rats, pathetic rat men. God they are ugly but why are they pretty at the same time? One look dead tired and the other has gold teeth... HOW DID I FIND THESE TWO ATTRACTIVE???

Getting out the shits and giggles

Both are tragic loyal to a fault characters serving a god that wont bat an eye if they were gone. Varré and Heimdall both wanted love and recognition but they let their action speak than their words.

They both got their traumatic experience. Varré being the only one who survived and himself after Mogh kidnapped war surgeons, forcing them to serve him. Heimdall is with a manipulative father that wont fucking hesitate to kill him if he proved useless.

By personality we see, yeah they are a big dick head but there is some good to them. As much as a cultist Varré was, trying to manipulate you into their cult. He trusted you, and he would give the very best from the Moghwyn dynasty.

Heimdall with his insight, is blind from Odins atrocious acts. He at the end of the day, would protect Asgard his home and his family (that is mostly Odin). Can you really fault him tormenting Atreus when he forsaw the childs want of Ragnarok. An event that destroys his home.

Of course there are actions they've done that are unforgivable. We wont shy away from it. You can't be a baby girl without commiting murder once or twice... or thousands.

With their attitude and upbringing, no wonder they are alone. Its basically canon how lonely these bitches are. No friends nor lover (only in fanfic we trust.).

In the end they both died by the hands of the protagonist. Being loyal 'til the end but their gods didn't have much attachment anyways. Their efforts washed away like a snap. Died like a useless pawn, unloved, a discarded tool.

I love how they have so much to give with their limited story/screentime. I must applaud the writers making such interesting, brainrotting characters. They've capture the hearts of many and maybe ruining some. (a.k.a me, they are ruining me and i have a test and all i could think of is them with my o.c. lol.)

AJR - Living Room

if you told me in 2013 that this was the absolute pinnacle of music and that it would get no better than this, chances are i would’ve told you “that’s nice, leave me alone creep” and went to go kick the shit out of my brother at Mario on the DS. Now if you told me now that these guys ended up being my favourite band, i’d probably give you the same response but i’d go play a Spider-Man game instead. Regardless, Living Room by AJR is just… not good, by any sense of the word realistically, don’t get me wrong it’s got its merits but holy fuck, it’s really hard to listen to. Now, i don’t want to be too unfair about this, believe it or not sitting here for a good 5 minute read yelling about how bad something is is REALLY undesirable in a review, and it’s even more undesirable since my girlfriend refuses to sleep with me because of it. (jk rose ily) So, i’m gonna take their advice from one of their next albums that came after this and well, skip to The Good Part, which unfortunately should only take me like, 20 lines, maximum, before i start either repeating myself or talking about how a line in “The World is a Marble Heart” is was reused as a backing vocal in “I Won’t” like, 10 years later.

The Good

My GOD, do these guys know how to write a decent line or few. Sure there’s a few “Thirsty, Thirsty, Thursdays!” in there but, every one of those is definitely made up for by the honestly-adorable Infinity or the surprisingly-hopeful My Calling, each lyric will either strike you as cheesy in a really cute way, or inspiring in a really dumb way, the album could honestly be mistaken as written about someone with how directed and loving each line feels from the start to the end and briefly sidestepping around at least 49.2% of each song. Big White Bed especially, but as i wrote that down all i could think to describe the song was “I love you… BITCH. I ain’t ever gonna stop loving you… BITCH.” from a vine like 10-or-so years ago. So, really, pretty appropriate for their timing on the albums release realistically. A really specific praise for the album but, i think the art itself is really pretty? something about it feels so real. Like, if you made an album with two of your brothers and basically pro-tools, a mic and a big idea (yeah, that’s a quote from one of the songs, Big Idea.) would you not just make the album art you all sat on the comfy family sofa in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere with your band name splattered on the wall in a nice deep red? I know i would if i could fit all 5 of my brothers onto one tiny-ass couch. Now unfortunately i can only realistically think of these two points for the positive part but, i will say this: Every track on this album, has thought behind it. It sometimes comes across as them just lobbing the entire processing power of a Windows 7 computer running pro-tools at you, but if you listen to the audio-commentary edition of the album (because, for some reason they made that?) it really is easy to tell the three of them had passion for the thing, especially seen in Jack’s (the J in AJR) enthusiasm about finally making it out of slummin’ it in the streets while his two way-fucking-taller brothers tap danced and sang, outside of his appearance in Pink Panther 2 and Sesame Street of course. (seriously, i’m deadass, look it up, he even has an iMDB page.) Now, unfortunately, on that point, i can’t realistically stay on the positives forever on this without ending up on some TikTok calling me a brainrotted liberal or some slur that hasn’t been unsealed since some crusty fucking 4channer woke up from his food comatose over a reddit girl with fat tits so, with that point.

The Bad

Ok right so, you know how i mentioned this was considered some sort of principle of music back then in 2013? Well guess what, motherfucker. I wasn’t even joking, the way people view Bruno Mars now is the way people viewed Living Room in 2013, though it was hard not to when their brain cells rubbed together and they decided the best way to promote their album was to tag every artist under the sun on gods green-motherfucking-earth and tell them to listen to it. Even then, the only one who listened really was Sia, and realistically what the fuck have you actually seen Sia do in the past like 5 years? This is a real question seriously please for the love of GOD tell me i have no idea past *Chandelier*. Anyway, enough of throwing Sia some strays (i’m sorry ma’am i’m sure there’s a grammy somewhere i didn’t bother googling), back onto Twenty-One Pilo— Coldplay— I mean, AJR. The album had passion behind it, don’t get me wrong here, but it is completely misplaced. The only way i can describe this is that, if this was the latest release around the time of E.T. for the Atari 2600? Music probably wouldn’t have survived past that either. Though realistically it was probably one of the better albums of that era since by then every other song was the most bassy-pile of “please dance to this” you’d ever seen, but i’m sure there’s someone still out there hitting the dab to fuckin’ The World is a Marble Heart, surely. The album itself had some pretty… interesting, approaches, but really you can only get around 30 seconds into the first song before that fucker starts yodelling? why the fuck is he yodelling? Regardless, no matter how many times you make a sequel to Turning Out or how many times you make some good shit like The DJ is Crying for Help, to those guys at TikTok? you’ll allwwaayyss be the guys who made Thirsty. You could get a treaty and a vulcan salute from half of space, but all those motherfuckers will still only know you for Thirsty. Personally? i’d be so fucking mad. I mean, you look to your left and Kanye has just dropped Yeezus, and what do you have to compete against that? a new national holiday celebrated exclusively by kids who get bullied at school, Thirsty Thursday, if i were them i wouldn’t have even made it to The Click without some sort of apology statement.

The Ending

Now, if i’m being completely real here. I can’t entirely slander Living Room, it’s got ideas, it’s got (marble) heart, and most importantly… It let Neotheater exist so… some good out of the bad right? Sure, for anyone else, unless you’re subconsciously subscribed to every single opinion on r/Music like some sort of absorption sponge. And just… in future, for anyone reading this, Include yodelling in your song and i will fucking SLICE you, not for poor mixing choices, not even for poor taste, but for reminding me that i sat here for an hour, and reviewed an album. Worst part? one out of five baby, i’m not down until i hear the fat lady sing, i’ve still gotta drop my useless thoughts for The Click, Neotheater, OK ORCHESTRA and *The Maybe Man. So, i’m gonna go out with a BANG! and by that? i mean get gunned down by the mexican cartel for even daring to include a good section in this slice of piss.

17. What's a book, movie, or show you think [character] would like?

So as many people know I am a massive nerd and I have a million books on all sorts of things like architecture and fashion and music and advertisements throughout the years. And with how much impact Salieri had on music during his life I feel like he would love books like Music: The Definitive Visual History or Modern Music and After to see where music has gone.

NOW I DO RECOGNIZE THAT'S REALLY BORING THOUGH SO for the more fun answers!

Bookwise I feel like it would depend on what he was feeling? I will admit to being extremely biased but I think he would enjoy Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, to see all the evils of the world but also to see them righted, or at least confronted. Idk I feel like Salieri is so good at heart and all the suffering all the time that Chaldea has to face...would leave someone craving a 'good' end. Since we STILL DON'T GET THAT IN GAME :'D But also I think he reads a lot of fairy tales both because I HC him as friends with Andersen and, well, he must read his friend's work! And so that he has them memorized so he can tell the child servants in Chaldea a bedtime story/anytime story no matter whether he has the book with him or not. It also allows him to study fairy tale story structure so he can create his own stories for them.

TV Shows, MORE BIAS FROM ME INCOMING but because he shares his body with the Man in Grey and constantly has to battle with feeling like an impostor in an unfamiliar place, I feel like the unknown in shows like The Twilight Zone would really draw him in. He finds some peace with it. He will also absolutely bingewatch any wedding based show like Four Weddings or Say Yes to the Dress and he will be SO CATTY about the dresses people choose but the SECOND any of their family talk down to them he is fully backing the brides and their dress choices. While still mentioning things like "oh god not the appliques" and "sure, fine, you have a gorgeous tiny petite figure but fine, hide it in a cupcake made of lace, why not" because his hatred of people insulting the brides and making them cry does not override him cringing at their choices. If he watches Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids he tears almost EVERY dress to shreds because good lord WHY.

For movies, I think thrillers/early horror. Not any of that jumpscare stuff, but things like the House of Wax [Vincent Price version]. Showing horror within the hearts of people or that comes from Beyond, not the horror of AAA SCARY THING IN FACE MUSIC LOUD. 22. Give us a headcanon for [character]

Oh no I have so many. So so many.

Okay well my big one is he basically sees Anastasia as his daughter. Even outside of the fics I've written/am writing where he had time to get to know her in LB1, there's something about seeing her after and seeing the scars that it's left on her that makes him approach her and offer her comfort. A scene in my head has been Anastasia being summoned, seeing where she is, and having a magic-fueled breakdown that nearly freezes the summon room solid. Salieri comes running from who knows where and just. Somehow talks her down. Bows to her, kisses her hand, speaks kindly and gently while treating her as one should a royal, until she's calmed down before showing her Novum Chaldea. After that they fall into a closer father-daughter relationship and Anastasia gets to let herself be a child when she's with him, she can be childish and loud and do what she likes and at least One person will love her regardless.

Related to that one, he has, at least mentally, adopted ALL of the child servants in Chaldea and he dotes on them hard. Sweets, stories, little concerts performed solely for them, taking the time to listen to their stories...you name it, he does it. He could be in a very serious meeting debriefing and if a child servant came to get him he would leave immediately no questions asked. The MC and Mash are NOT IMMUNE TO THIS. He and Lobo share custody of them, obviously.

I know it said one but I have so so many, another is that he and Hessian Lobo [yes both parts this time] are very close, and they can be found discussing things in sign language in small, quiet corners. When Lobo's grief and rage grow too strong for him and he begins howling throughout Chaldea, Salieri always comes running, coaxing him or both he and Hessian to the music room, avenger room, or his own room and playing for as long as he needs to to help soothe him.

ANOTHER ONE he loves to cook and bake but he's self conscious of it because he lives to compare himself truly so he worries he'll be in Emiya or Boudica's way. So he typically only slips into the kitchens late at night when no one else is there. Yes, the child servants have figured this out, and yes, they do show up for snacks or dessert. Mozart also discovered this on accident, but Salieri managed to keep his focus on cooking to avoid the intense Murder Thoughts. Mozart seemed to notice, so they didn't speak at all, just exist together on those nights.

This one I feel runs inline with game canon but he struggles with intrusive thoughts a lot, and given he was Italian in the 1700s-1800s, he was absolutely raised religious and absolutely taught that bad thoughts = bad person, so on top of the Man in Grey constantly thirsting for Mozart's murder he also struggles with other intense or mundane intrusive thoughts. There are many days when it is too hard for him to face the world because of them. Therapy would be good but I mean Kiara is Chaldea's only therapist I think AND UM, NO.

ONLY ONE MORE I PROMISE but I tend to headcanon that when he works himself hard as a servant/is critically damaged or possibly even dying, a lot more of Antonio Salieri comes out, and he is softer, more tired, less bent on revenge and hatred. This is due to the Man in Grey part of him being exhausted, since it does all the fighting, and thus he gets brief periods of Belonging in his body again. Yes he has sought out Mozart in those moments, yes it did crush them both. He can also fight through the hatred with his love for Mozart, so if Mozart is critically in danger, the 'kill Mozart' switch is forcefully flipped by himself to 'kill what is killing Mozart' switch.

24. What's your favourite thing about [character]?

I do know a lot of the things I enjoy exploring with him aren't canon, so to try and stay canon with him, hmm...I mean, he has a strong sense of duty. Just look at the end of lostbelt 1; he promised to play Twinkle Twinkle for the Yagas, and his spirit origin refuses to dematerialize until he does. But that's not really my favorite thing, just something I like, hmm...

HONESTLY probably how he looks; his color palette is just SO GOOD, his clothing detail is amazing, and all of his ascensions are so good? Usually I wind up having a favorite ascension to leave a character in, but with Salieri I like them all. I do leave him second ascension because I like seeing his armor appear all fancy but STILL. We have the Amadeus Alter first ascension with that COAT and MASK and it brings so much angst with it. Second ascension we have MAN IN SUIT and my favorite thing to put ANY character in is SUIT. And then final ascension oh my GOD his final ascension. The TEETH. The CLAWS. The QUESTIONABLE LEVEL OF REMAINING SANITY AND ORIGINAL SALIERI THAT IS LEFT. It's great for all levels of things and yes I am working on a fic where Mozart is fully horny for his third ascension and Salieri is HORRIFIED and CONFUSED and also into it and mad about it XD
