Interesting comments in the "Was Rosalie mean?" poll, with many making distinctions between 'mean' and 'unfriendly,' 'cold', 'rude', 'unwelcoming.'

And I agree; when I think of 'mean' I think of someone going out of their way to be actively nasty to someone--to yell at them, to call them names, etc. Rosalie doesn't do that (maybe in her head but again, she's not saying it aloud, so we only 'hear' it in Midnight Sun), but Bella is picking up on those "doesn't like me/doesn't want me here" vibes and seems to interpret it as 'mean.'

There's always going to be this tension there because Bella is the Main Character and Twilight has a protagonist-centered morality problem. Without larger context, Rosalie having a problem with Edward putting the whole family at risk because he's obsessed with this random human isn't 'bad' or 'mean,' in fact you could argue Rosalie is looking out for the family and Edward is throwing them under the bus in favor of Bella. But because this is a romance and because Bella is the main character, not supporting her and not supporting her relationship is 'bad' in that context and Rosalie is perceived by the general audience as 'mean.'

Misha Panel 

I’ve done this summary as it helps to have what Misha actually says to hand as more often than not, his stans misquote him. It’s also useful as Misha often changes things - as he appears to have done between his last virtual panel and this one. Note, I’m only focusing on the key parts where he talks about the show/Jared/Jensen.  It is not free of anti castiel/misha comments where I disagree, though those are few and far between for a change. It’s long so putting under a cut... 

- Misha confirms his filming finished in March prior to Covid [this comes up later in more detail].  Watching the last epiosode was an emotional experience for him.  For him, it represents the end of a chapter of his life. 

- Misha says fandoms not going anywhere [*hisses]

- Misha’s future work/projects?: working on senate race in georgia, publishing a book of poetry, couple of film projects he’s trying to get off the ground, one he’s not acting/directing in, the other he may act and/or direct 

- Jack brought Cass back but we didn’t get to see it, what happened?: different ending originally that Covid restrictions made impossible to produce. Cool ending involved bringing back lots of cast members over the years.  In the original ending, Castiel hadn’t gone to rebuild heaven, there was a different conclusion for him.  Misha purposely did not read the last two episodes before they aired as he wanted to be an audience member. He knew a little about Castiel/Jack’s fate in the abstract, but because he wasn’t in it, he doesn’t know what the answer was. He thinks them rebuilding heaven was less boots on the ground and more at a spiritual level [so he’s talking at the metaphysical/spiritual plane level and not corporeal) so they are everywhere (e.g. in drops of rain as per Jack’s speech to Sam in 19). That’s what I’m understanding at least.  He says that’s pure speculation though.]

- what qualities does castiel have similar to Misha?: there are a lot of similar qualities [backstabber comes immediately to my mind tbh]. Over time he and the character melded. Over time he evolved into something that didn’t quite fit in with either angels or humanity, he felt like an outsider which Misha has felt for much of his life. He became softer, more sensitive, he tried to do the right thing and be a good person. Oh wow, he says that in order to write to play to Misha’s strengths, the character had to “morph a bit”.  I loved bad!ass Castiel, he’s my favourite Castiel!

- What one thing will he take with him from playing Castiel?: on a professional level, it was fascinating to play a character for so many years. He discussed with J2 recently that the characters really became part of them. He doesn’t think that will happen again, just due to length of time the played them. On watching Jensen’s death scene, he cried but it was more “That’s Cass’ friend Dean dying”  It was weird to have a blurring of lines between yourself and your character but he thinks that’s what happened with all of them. He’ll take the character away, which will be a part of him forever. 

- Misha made fortune cookes and put inside lewd and inappropriate fortunes

[I don’t get this next bit as earlier in the panel he says he didn’t read the last two episodes so didn’t know what was going to happen and gave the answer I documented above and now we have this next question where his answer seems to contradict that]:

- Is there anything more he can say about the originally planned finale?:  He doesn’t want to be the one to reveal these state secrets, but what are they going to do, fire him?  He feels someone might have said to him, please don’t reveal what was going to happen, but can’t remember for sure if it’s true. He says there was a version of Sam and Dean’s heaven that was populated with all of the people that were from their past that they have come to love.  They could not do that because of Covid restrictions. 

- Favourite behind the scenes memory of “The boys”: He doesn’t have a favourite memory, they were close friends for 12 years. They had laughing fits and fights and got pissed off at each other. Some of his fondest memories of being at work anywhere were working on Supernatural.  He’s never going to be on a set again where there is so much mirth so he’s going to miss that for sure.

- he’s talking about Castiel’s wardrobe which is actually funny - e.g. original suit 3 sizes to big, sometimes showing blood and holes, sometimes being magically fixed, not wearing a tie, going back to wearing a tie... “Nobody complained about that too much...” [uh because some of us were watching other things and your own stans were looking at the background.]  He stole some trenchcoats and has them in his closet.

- How do you prepare for emotional scenes?: it’s hard for him to get into that emotional state. To prepare for the Castiel’s declaration of love scene and taken by the empty, Misha needs to be off by himself and not chatting with people, so for that scene he sat on his own in a dark corner of the stage and ruminated on his own.  Rob Hayter, stunt coordinator, noticed and stood sentinel and made sure no one disturbed him which Misha said was really sweet.  Everyone stopped fucking around for that scene to allow them to do what they needed to do.

-  How did you feel when you read the script when Castiel dies?: Misha knew for a long time that ending was coming, he’d been speaking to Rob Berens about it, he was really happy with it.  It was the ending he’d wanted for Cass so when he read the script, he was really happy it had made it to the page [i bet it was Misha, how are those destiel sales going through your Stands company?]. It felt it was a little “risky and a little brave” for the show to do [on a fucking network that is number one in Glaad reviews?  Are you being fucking serious right now?] He was happy to be a part of that [again sales] and have that character express love like that so he was happy with it. 

[Okay, so notice in his last virtual panel 2 weeks ago, he was very happy, he’s now starting to do exactly what he did with Karla movie as he goes on to say...]

He’s seen “some people” [you mean lgbtq+ people?!]  “complaining” about this is playing into the “bury the gays” trope which is an insidious and real trope in film and television storytelling in h/w over the years. Misha doesn’t think that’s what was happening with Castiel’s [he died second after the confession MIsha!] First of all Castiel isn’t dead, he’s in heaven working to rebuild it... [you didn’t know this 2 weeks ago, as far as you knew Castiel died and went to the empty].  So much good came from that declaration, because Cass was able to save Dean, which was essential to saving the world, so this declaration wasn’t so then fate strikes you down and you’re done forever. The declaration literally ended up saving the world. It was of Cass’ own volition, he wasn’t forced to do it, it was his choice, and he thinks that’s important, so maybe he’s naieve and doesn’t feel they are playing into that trope. 

[You were absolutely playing into that trope Misha and you didn’t give a shit as you did no research on playing an lgbtq+ character so sincerely fuck off]

He’s glad that Castiel got to express that and have that ending. He thinks thats kind of important and he’s proud the show did that. [again fuck off, this was done for you and it showed]  He thinks its a conversation they will continue to have as they continue to dissect it going forward [nope, consigned to the dumpster fire I’ve put the majority of the rest of Drabbernatural in]

- Do you think you will ever get an SPN tattoo?:  He doesn’t have any but he’s thinking about getting tattoos relating to his children.  Is that a sign of desperation that a true hasbeen will do? Should he get a tattoo of Jared and Jensen’s face.  He could get a tattoo of Castiel’s face on his abdomen.  He’s saying probably not. If they want to get one, totally supportive of that

-  what is his favourite moment of the finale?: Dean’s death scene, masterfully executed, excellent performances from both Jared and Jensen in that scene and made him cry

- best memory of your last day on the supernatural set?: everyone being really sweet, lot of tears from cast and crew. The last scene he shot as Castiel was the last scene of the day on a Friday. Him, Alex, Richard S and Jensen all had to get to Las Vegas for a fan convention the next morning. They shot late and finished at 1.30, it was Cass goodbye and Misha’s goodbye to the show.  He said they had to get a chartered flight because of the early flight [not sure why he’s saying this as I thought it was Jared’s plane they all travelled in?] He’s talking about going back - because of the issue with the plane - and they are all texting family, saying they love them, so it was such a strange night, he’d said goodbye to Supernatural, he said goodbye to Castiel and later on said goodbye to his kids because they thought they were going to die that night. :(

[Going to add that this puts to rest that Misha was due back for 19 and 20 even before covid, it confirms he was not going to be in either episode, though I maintain, they may have shot an extra scene while they had him to slot into 19 or 20]

- do you think Cass and the other angels got their wings back?: Yes, probably, they have Jack who is the new god. What a long and miserable experience that was of not having wings. Cass was so powerful when he started, he could snap his fingers and teleport and time travel and lost that with his broken wings and they didn’t come back. He doesn’t know why they didn’t fix him as Castiel would have been a much more powerful ally if he didn’t have to drive around in the pimp mobile [uh, for the same reason Sam lost his powers, deus ex machina]. He tells the story of Jared pressing buttons in the car causing the hydraulics to fail costing $10000 of repair.

- in your opinion, what colour are Castiels wings?: shit, I don’t know, I always thought they were black, but now that you’ve said that, they are rainbow coloured, how about that?

- What is the worst joke Jared and Jensen did to you?: [*cough fans looking for things to complain about or hate Jared on]: Jared and Jensen, as you know, they are not good people.  He talks about directing an episode and they got excited in the week before, they were going to break into his apartment and steal his furniture, they had all kinds of nefarious plans, the crew tipped him off and told him to watch his home and car keys. They put a fish under the seat in his car and one of the crew told him.  Jared removed the canvas on the director’s chair and laid it across so it looked like it was still the chair. Misha fell for that at least 5 times. That was pretty frustrating. Jared kept messing up his lines (which Misha said Jared never does) and Misha was directing in another room, Misha eventually went to see what the problem was and that’s when Jared pied him in the face. Everyone in the crew was complicit in the “assault”. Jensen brought him another shirt, said, “I’m sorry man, that’s sucks, that was too much.”  Jensen then pied him in the face.

- What is the real story behind the handprint in the finale?: Um I don't know, but I think it was a nice touch, that was a really lovely callback that worked well. I can’t remember how we came up with that, or was it in the script, I can’t remember. Wasn’t it a good callback to the very beginning. [Again, this appears to differ from what was being reported two weeks ago so might need to go back to that panel if I can get access to it]

-What’s your favourite memory from offline/online panels?: It’s much more fun to be live and in person. I don’t know, I have had some really fun... [PANDERING ALERT COMING UP] Jensen and I have some really fun panels together in Rome.  I don’t know why but we always just seem to have a real hoot there, talks about the resume off, they really enjoyed that. He had pizza delivered to a creation panel once.  He talks about the Saturday night special and he can’t wait till they can get back to that.

- What was your favourite version of Castiel to play?: he had the most fun playing Lucifer because Mark P had left a great template to play Lucifer [you took the worst parts imo but Mark fucked his character up too]. He enjoyed playing the human parts of Castiel because it was fun to explore how to be human for the first time. Overall, just regular Cass. He wouldn’t have wanted to trade regular Castiel for other iterations. [A great question would be badass Castiel v late season wooby castiel preference]

My Opinions on The Epilogues

So I expect that this isn’t going to go over too well, whether it be because I get absolutely zero attention on this post, or for the fact that I’m literally typing up what is probably a hate post that’ll spark up some, “Oh fuck you.” comments. Either way, I don’t really care about the possible hate to be garnered or anything. I’m here to state my opinion on this, and opinions can’t kill anyone when you’re as weak at arguing as I myself am. Now, this isn’t a fucking logical article, I’m not taking time with comprehensive research and making sure I fact check every little detail because that would involve reading Homestuck for and eighth time and re-reading the Epilogues so I have the biggest refresher in the world. I’m not doing that, so take my sub-par rambles.

Preface over, let’s get into the meat.

My original thought when I heard that the Epilogues came out was initially an eye roll big enough to be like when Hulk smashed Loki in the ground. An arch of, “What the fuck, Hussie.” In other words? I didn’t want to read them. I spent the first few days in agony, complaining about how Homestuck was probably just becoming a money grab, and hearing from other people about the content that  came out.

It.. wasn’t as bad as I expected when I jumped into it. People made a bigger deal about them than I thought was even insanely possible. Let me get this out of the way. I don’t hate the Epilogues. Do I think they were poorly done? Yes. Do I think that the writing was subpar? Absolutely. Do I think that fourteen year olds in their bedroom typing away at shitty fanfiction or roleplaying smut on MxRP/MSPARP have a better grasp on the characterization of each individual character than the people who took over and wrote the Epilogues? 10000%. Still, I thought they were a clever addition to alternate timelines. I had heard from a source they were meant to be a satirical take on fanfiction, and was a mocking poke at the Homestuck community... until Beyond Canon came out.

So here we are now with an 18 year old who’s spent their time on this planet obsessing over Homestuck since before they could read cuss words without feeling embarrassed telling you about how they’re pissed off with some small things that are of no value.

I’m an Alpha Kid Stan(TM) so everything that happened to my sweet babies has made me want to blow my brains out over the walls. Let’s go down the line.

Jane, sweetheart? Who hurt you? Now, I’ll be honest, I rushed through the Epilogues in my, ‘fuck I don’t want to read this but I feel like I need to in order to satiate my burning curiosity.’ mode. Jane’s whole... situation seems really fucked up to me. The color of her text in the EPs is another thing that pissed me off beyond belief, and I’m not sure why. The consistency between comic and canon was draining on my nerves. Jane, in Homestuck, is a whiny teen, but in no way do I look at her and see racist Hitler. Also, what the fuck was up with the clown thing? Why did she have an obsession with fucking Jake? Sure, she was into him before, but wasn’t part of her character arch getting over the buck toothed bangaroo? I thought so. I also thought that Jane was, you know, just a normal girl living her best life. She sure complained, but who doesn’t?? The Jane we’re given in the Epilogues seems to lack the internal dilemmas that the dear, sweet Crocker we’ve grown fond of does. There’s barely a hit of self hate, she doesn’t blow up, and sure we could possibly count this to her being older, but, what? She didn’t seem to be pissed off about the entire existence of trolls in Homestuck. Sure, her time with them was minimal and she didn’t really get all the shit through, but she fought side by side with Kanaya, even. I just don’t see it at all.

Jake. Oh boy. This is a big one. In either case, Jake’s whole thing really bothers me. He doesn’t seem like Jake. He seems like a watered down version of himself that doesn’t even make fucking sense? He’s an aloof dork, but he’s not horrendously stupid, there’s no reason to make him an alcoholic, and why the fuck is he an attention seeking slut? Yes, yes. We could blame this all on Dirk but really, what were the authors thinking? They had complete control over what happens in this and they turn Jake into something he’s not. He had other drives and passions than living out his life as the sexy action movie woman we all need in our lives. Jake’s smart to his own degree, stubborn, and kind of a flirt! He’s not insanely oblivious, either. For instance, I recall a specific moment where he insinuates that Jane was having a wet dream about him in Homestuck. I’m not going to find the quote, but I know it’s there. Jake spent time working on the robot rabbit for John with Jade and outright refused help from some outside sources. Jake is smart! He’s got an extensive vocabulary! He’s just a nerd, and he’s more than an uwu gay boy for Mr. Triangles.

Roxy, oh no. This is where I expect to get the most heat. Roxy is a beloved character. The light of my life and the best of the kids, in my opinion. (I’m an avid Dirk Stan, but Roxy has won my heart truly and thoroughly.) I don’t like the whole trans/non-binary thing. Not because I’m transphobic or anything, because I’m absolutely not. It’s because it feels like it just doesn’t fit with her as a character?? Roxy grew up in isolation in a place without humans, you really think she’s going to have an outright conceptualized view on gender roles and norms? Basic fucking psychology would tell you otherwise. This is something that her brain would have trained her to do based on a societal view. I may not have paid a huge ass amount of attention in psychology, but gender is a thing that’s completely up in the air and taught to us. Roxy didn’t have that. You could argue and say that her house has something of the sort that’d lead her to feel that way, or perhaps she’s learned this all off the internet, but her clothes scream femme and she had to make them herself, is all I’m saying. Again, whatever, go off, make Roxy trans. It’s not a huge deal, but that isn’t the only problem I have. Roxy as a character seems to have just lost her spark. There’s little outright love and enjoyment and adoration for her friends that there is in Homestuck. She’s not your hype go get them loving girl. Again, maybe you could blame this on the fact that they’re all older, but getting older isn’t going to drastically impede your previous personality and make you an entirely different person. They essentially turned Roxy into a watered down version of Dave, but trans. It’s like they couldn’t make Dave trans so they just made a new Dave. It’s annoying to me, and that’s my biggest problem. I love Roxy. I don’t care for Epilogue Roxy. If they had done it right, if they had used specific things from Homestuck, if Homestuck itself keyed in on this or ANYTHING, fine. But Roxy was old enough to question her identity, most people do around 16, and she could have had the opportunity to start representing this already. I mean, who was stopping her? Then the baby stuff. Huh? What? Why? Doesn’t make sense, pass. Her bffsy, brother, and person that cared about her most off and yeets himself from the top of the nearest belltower and all she can think about is copulating with John??? Alright, fam.

Onto Dirk. Y’know what? I don’t have many huge problems with Dirk. I found his personality in Meat really funny, I found the death in Candy absolutely soul crushing. Dirk is a good character. I don’t think they did his personality well, but I don’t think they did any of the characters well. Maybe John. Maybe. Dirk really just sounded like a child who wasn’t getting what he wanted, and it was amusing to say the least. He sounded horrible from the way people talked about him before I read it, but I really just found his overzealous ego entertaining. I found the fact that they made him still totally desperate for Jake kind of annoying though. Dirk broke of their relationship. Dirk was the one who took a moment to realize it wasn’t healthy for either of them, and getting what you want isn’t good. Taking over the narrative and making your ex nearly jizz himself in public is hilarious and all, but also, what??

Alright. Alphas. Let’s move onto Betas.

I skipped a lot of it, not going to lie. Rather than breaking it down for each character like I did with the Alphas, I’m just going to ramble and see where the wind takes. me.

I don’t ship Davekat. I don’t see it working in a romantic aspect. I see them being bros, and it felt really forced in both sides of the story. The homoerotic tension could maybe be smelled for a mile away, but lets not forget something very important. Dave has shown interest in women. Dave was interested in Terezi, he called Roxy and Jane hot, he totally fucking jizzed his jeans for Jade. The fact that so many characters in the Epilogues were exclaiming that Dave was gay, and Dave himself leaning towards the sentiment, didn’t seem to really match up. Dave’s not just pretending to like chicks either, he’s definitely interested in them to the point of being genuinely flustered and embarrassed (I.E The Hot Mom conversation.) So, I don’t really enjoy that. I think the economy shit is cute, his alternate counterpart seemed to have a good hand for business according to the spiel that was made about him, I liked it.

Rose? Didn’t pay a lot of attention to her. The drug abuse shit really pissed me off. Rose in general really pissed me off in the Epilogues. 

John is a can of worms. His characterization was done well, but I guess I just don’t see the point in the two timeline deals. Also, why did he have sex with Terezi? Why was he so much of a baby when the rest of the people around him apparently seemed to mature? Who knows. I sure as hell don’t.

And... then there’s Jade. Poor, sweet Jade. She’s been done dirty almost as much as Jake has, if not worse. She has a dick for one. Yikes. She’s extremely sexually driven, which isn’t something I can see for canon Jade who just wants to hang out and vibe. She’s also so fucking insistent with the “uwu lets date Dave and Karkat” shit that it drives me up a fucking wall. Jade, you should know better! You dated an alternate version of Dave! You dated the OG motherfucker fresh timeline bitch who lost everyone, and sure he was depressed, but I think if I remember correctly you know about all of this???? Hmmmmm!!!! Big questions. It almost leads one to believe she’d know better than to enter into a relationship like this with Dave since it could be emotionally unfulfilling. :))))

Anyways, this entire thing is a can of fucking worms and I don’t suspect I’m going to use this account often aside from shitposting, so have this one uneducated article and if you made it through it and agree, disagree, or what have you, don’t be an ass in the replies? I get it, I’m opinionated and should probably shut my mouth, but it’s the internet and I don’t really care at this point.

How did you discover the show?

Through tumblr, although special mention goes to this particular ML AU piece because two months before I got into Voltron, ML was my default go-to interest.

Was it love at first sight or did it take you a while to get into the show?

Pretty much. I watched A:TLA and LoK before it, so combined with all the talk about it on here I decided to give it a go.

I think I binged half of it in a day before stopping myself and thinking I had to tell my sister about it so we could watch it together lol. The first few episodes are kind of heavy on the set-up, but “Fall of the Castle of Lions” and “Tears of the Balmera” solidified my love for starting to explore Hunk’s and Pidge’s characters more.

Do you have a favorite episode?

Black because of her history with Zarkon and how it parallels Shiro’s history of trauma. Also, as Abby put it, Black “is the biggest Shiro stan & I respect her for it.”

Haggar. Even if some things don’t entirely make sense (yet...?), I absolutely love the slow build-up we’ve been getting for her. She’s been in the thick of things since the first episode/10000 years ago, and we’ve slowly seen her piece together her own past (one of the biggest reasons “Blood Duel” is a favorite, her flashback was great) and manipulate things to her own advantage; I’m so happy she’s going to be the final boss of the series (or co-final boss if Zarkon and Lotor are going to come back in some shape or form, though maybe merely as her puppets).

Galra for their species diversity and history (not entirely fair since they’re given a disproportionate amount of focus but still lol.)

How/Why did you join the fandom?

Wanted to chat with other fans of the show because I’d already bored my friends who were either casual about it or indifferent to it to death lmao. I’ve been relatively on the outskirts since I first watched it in July 2016 because I’d rather avoid fandom drama, but I’m a bit more active now and hope to write a bit for it, as rusty as my skills are.

Care to share a favorite headcanon?

Um I like a couple of popular ones like TransGirl!Pidge, past Alforan, and Yorak for Cosmic Wolf’s name. Was really big on Acxa and Keith being siblings too until s6 seemingly disproved it. 💔 Some others: - Kolivan is Krolia’s dad. (thanks @aaawunder now I’m going to be sad if this doesn’t pan out)

- Coran knew Keith was Galra ever since the Castle scanned everyone in the first episode and he had to look at the human medical data when he stuck Lance in a pod in “Tears of the Balmera”. (keeping in line with how he knew Pidge was a girl; guy is up-to-date on everything going on on his grandfather’s Castleship)

- Hunk either got his current headband from a relative who has since passed away or it was a gift from Lance after the original one he got was wrecked somehow, and that’s how they became BFFs. - Keith’s jacket and gloves were gifts from Shiro. - Lance’s jacket was a hand-me-down from one of his older brothers.

- Shiro grew up with either a grandparent to explain his “old soul” tendencies/perspectives or was raised by distant relatives that he didn’t connect with much (basically adopting @bosstoaster‘s backstory from her Spectrum series for him because it’s amazing). It kills me that Josh was able to mention the former at a panel because that means we’re probably not going to get to see much of his backstory in canon, and I’d really like to see from his perspective what his and Keith’s friendship means to him. If he was in a similar situation of isolation growing up, if he saw that in Keith, etc.

- Alteans aren’t really hung up on gender due to their shapeshifiting abilities. Alfor’s referring to Allura as a princess when she was still so young was due to personal preference whereas the majority of Alteans would refer to their kids with gender neutral pronouns until they’re roughly the Earth equivalent of eight.

What do you think is the best part of the show?

The characters and the genre.

For me, characters frequently make shows of this nature.There can be an interesting plot, but if I don’t care about at least some of the characters to some degree, I’m not as inclined to watch. As many complaints as I have about certain aspects of this series, I’ve been endeared to these characters since s1. There could always be more content (what I would give for more filler episodes for the team to just bond and chill), but with what we have been given, there’s enough there for me to find enjoyment in.

The genre acts as a supplement to that. For me, one of the best things about space-faring adventures is seeing these characters placed in (literal) alien settings and watching how they react to all the possible scenarios the incomprehensible infinite of space has to offer. (And I’m a sucker for such things, being simultaneously made to feel so cosmically huge in one’s consciousness and so incredibly small in the vastness of a universe largely unknown to us.) There’s so much you can do with that. Any hopes and wishes for future episodes / seasons?

Holy shit do I!

- Tying into the previous question, one of the things that sort of made me sad about s3-s6/the second production season is how we didn’t get to do a lot of planet exploring. There’s an entire universe to play around with, and I know it’s impossible to show everything, but with s7 effectively being a road trip season, I’m ecstatic, largely because this provides us with the chance to see civilian Galra. I’m super interested in seeing how those dynamics play out between those not involved with the Empire and all the people who suffer under Galra oppression (we see this touched upon in s3e01 with Kolivan and the BoM, and at the time I was disappointed that it wasn’t explored more, but if they’re saving it for this season I can forgive them).

- Going further, how do mixed people fare under these circumstances? I’m really excited about this because I feel like this would be the perfect opportunity not only to expand upon the VLD universe as whole, but specifically dive into the backstories of Sincline. We know at least the upper echelons of the empire wanted nothing to do with them — how many Galra outside of that hierarchy feel the same way? People of their parents’ species?

Likewise, we could see if Keith being part Galra and Krolia being around gets the team into any sort of trouble. Since Keith’s bigger on actions than words, seeing him in a situation he can’t physically fight his way out of and having to rely on his team is a scenario of continued interest to me.

This is already way too long, but I’ll end it by saying I’m so stoked about all the potential road trip shenanigans the team could get into and for them visiting Earth again. I figured we’d be going back there around the end of s4 or s5 back when seasons were still 13-episodes long, and finally getting to see that play out after two years of waiting is again, very exciting for me.

And, uh, ships. I have my preferences. If they play out, I can die happy. If they don’t, I’ll always have the quality fanon content that keeps me involved with the fandom (all you creators are great 💜)

Do you think you’ll stick it out until the end of the show?

Barring unforeseen circumstances, most definitely. Been with it since a month after s1 dropped and it became my default fandom obsession, will be here when s10 drops in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The Little Things - Part 2

Summary: When Gaston asks for your help, you are not happy about it. Because he is an idiot and you are invisible to him. But sooner or later you realize that maybe he isn’t that bad. (Gaston x reader)

Author note: This started as an idea for a scene in this and turned out in a 10000+ words thing. Well...it just happened.

A word about the reader: I tried to keep it as general as possible. At some point I needed details, so if something is not fitting for you, I’m sorry and ask you to change it in your mind.

Part 3

It was the week before Christmas and you were on your way home and already late. With a sigh you closed your locker, grabbing your bag.

“Hey, loser!”, was the only thing you heard, when you turned around, before something cold and wet hit your face.

You gasped in surprise and could hear the laughs. When you opened your eyes, you saw Dick and Tom and the three girls behind them, all laughing at you.

“Merry Christmas, idiot!”, Dick said and they all went away.

You looked down at yourself. A slushie had hit you and you were covered in it. You fought back the tears and went to the toilette.

An hour too late, you finally arrived at home. To your surprise, Gaston was still waiting for you. He texted you about five times, you hadn’t answered. It was pretty cold outside, and everything was covered in snow, but nevertheless Gaston was sitting at your steps, reading a book. He looked up, when he heard your car and started to smile the moment he saw you.

“(Y/N)! I’m glad you are here. I thought, you wouldn’t come. Is everything alright? You are pretty late and tried to text you, but didn’t get an response and…is that slushie in your hair?!”, he asked confused and tried to touch your hair, but you stepped aside and he grabbed the air.

“Why are you sitting in the cold?”, you asked, clearly avoiding the topic.

“Well, your mom asked me to come inside, but I wanted to wait here and I like the snow and the cold never bothered me anyway.”

You nodded and opened the door, hearing a lot of noises the moment you stepped inside.

“I’m home!”

Your mother appeared with a smile.

“Hello sweetheart, how was school? And what is that?”, she asked, looking at the slushie smudge on you.

“Uuumm…the cafeteria floor was slippery and I…slipped. My slushie landed on me.”

“Oh no! Are you alright?!”

“Yeah, I’m fine.”, you lied and you felt Gastons stare at you.

Thankfully, he said nothing.

“I really should talk with the director. How is it, the floor is always slippery?!”, your mother wondered. “Does this happen to you too, Gaston?”

You didn’t dare to look at him.

“Yes…”, he answered slowly, looking at your mom and back to you. “A lot.”

“What about the noises?”, you asked and changing the topic.

“Oh, we have guests. Can you and Gaston learn somewhere else today? In your room, maybe?!”

“Um, sure. Why not.”, you said and went with Gaston upstairs.

When you two entered your room, Gaston was surprised. He wasn’t sure, what he had expected, but nevertheless, he felt surprised. The room had the same classic, elegant and at the same time cozy taste like the living room. It was filled with lots of books, merchandise and decoration stuff.

“You have a nice room.”, he said, looking around.

“Thanks.”, you said, putting down your bag and walking to your closet.

You pulled out a shirt and went to the bathroom door.

“If you take a look, I will murder you.”, you said as a warning and with a grin and entered your bathroom.

Gaston quickly turned around, paying a lot of attention to your book shelf. He wasn’t sure why, because usually, he wouldn’t miss the chance to get a look at boobs, but with you, it was different.

“You didn’t slip at the floor.”, you heard him from the other room.

“I did.”, you said.

“No you didn’t. I was there too. We ate lunch at the same time. You didn’t slip. Was it Tom or Dick? Or one the girls?”

“You forgot Stanley and that small guy, who always follows you.”

“LeFou. But these two wouldn’t bully you. They are far too nice to do something like this.”

“If you say so.”

“Yes. So? Who was it?”

You thought about changing the topic, because there was no reason why Gaston asked. You gut bullied a lot and until now, Gaston didn’t seem to be interested in the behaviour of his friends.

“It was Dick. Or Tom. I don’t know. Everything happened too fast. Maybe one of the girls. They were there too.”

You were done changing and stepped out of the bathroom, finding Gaston still looking at your book shelf, one of your Harry Potter books in his hand. For a brief second you looked at his ass and of course it was perfectly shaped too, because everything about Gaston seemed to be perfect. You blinked and quickly looked up, when he turned around.

“I am sorry, they did this.”

“Why?”

Surprised he looked at you.

“What do you mean?”

“Why are you sorry? They are doing this since…well...forever. You never seemed to care.”

“I do.”

You leaned against the wall, looking at Gaston and waiting. He sighed deeply.

“Look, just because I don’t say anything, doesn’t mean, I don’t care. I do. And I am sorry. Really. I wish, I could make them stop, but…”

“You have to protect your reputation.”, you added for him.

Gaston seemed to be embarrassed, but nodded.

“Yeah.”

“Can I ask you something?”

“Sure.”

“Why do you care so much about your reputation? Why does it matter so much to you, what other people think about you? And do you really think, they are your friends? They wouldn’t do anything when you need help.”

Gaston said nothing and looked at the floor. You had the feeling, that he was fighting with himself if he should answer your question or not. When he looked up, you saw, he wouldn’t answer the question and there was more to this story. There was something, he wasn’t ready to talk about.

“Can I ask you another question?”, you offered.

“Of course.”

“Why do you want that scholarship? I mean, you don’t need the money. I know your car. And your grades are amazing. So, why do you need it? And why soccer?”

“Well, soccer is the only thing I am good at.”, he answered, ignoring the first questions.

“That’s not true.”

He looked surprised.

“Gaston, you are actually smart. Very smart. You could do so many things. You work hard, you could do it. Have you never thought about, what you could do?”

“I don’t know. I suppose…no?! There was always just soccer.”, he answered with a shrug.

“Close your eyes.”

“What?”

“Don’t ask. Just…close your eyes.”

Unsure, he looked at you, but closed his eyes nevertheless.

“Now, think about your life in…let’s say 20 years. Imagine every aspect of your life. And let’s pretend, that literally everything is possible. What do you see?”

There was silence for a while and you watched his face. Suddenly a smile appeared on it.

“I’m having the perfect life.”

“Describe it to me.”, you said, taking a pen and piece of paper from your desk.

“I’m out of this little town, in a big city. New York, maybe. Or LA. Or Berlin or Paris or…”

“Not maybe. Imagine it. See it.”

“It’s Paris.”, he answered and you wrote everything down he said. “I’m successful in my job.”

“You’re playing soccer?”

“No. I did it in my free time at college, but…I’m a vet.”

“A vet?!”

“Yes.”, Gaston said and smiled. “I have a really big and very fancy office in Paris. LeFou is there too. Not in the office, but in Paris. He is…a musical star or something. And we are still best friends.”

You smiled.

“Anything else?”

“I’m living in a very big house. It’s big and awesome, but also very cozy. I see a lot of green around it.”

“Sounds like a house for a family.”

His smile got bigger and much softer.

“Yeah. I have…the most beautiful wife on earth. She is successful in her job too, kicking asses every day. She is a bad ass and probably way too good for me. And she is so beautiful. Not only on the outside, but also on the inside. And we have kids. A lot of kids. Boys and girls.”

“How many?”, you asked with a smile, feeling strangely happy to see Gaston so happy.

“4. No wait, 5. I almost forgot Gaston junior.”

You had to laugh, because of course, Gaston was naming a child after himself.

He went silent again and opened his eyes after some seconds, looking at the floor.

“And I wake up every morning, feeling like the luckiest man on earth and my life is just…perfect.”

There was silence again.

“You can laugh at me, if you want.”, Gaston said after a while. “I know, it’s silly.”

You said nothing and went to him, folding the paper and handing it to him.

“It’s not silly. And I’m sure, you can do this. And just in case you forget your dream, here it is. Black on white.”

Slowly Gaston took the paper and looked at you.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

When spring arrived, you knew, you would get your Harvard letter. So waiting was torture. Besides that, everything went along as usual. Gaston would visit you most days after school, you would talk about Literature and do homework together, dine with your family and go home. You also started to text with each other from time to time, talking about this and that. You also accompanied Belle and Adam to the soccer matches, rooting for the team and Gaston.

Sometimes, you had the feeling, LeFou knew about the situation, because you caught him looking at you or smiling and he started to talk with you in class, whenever it was possible and wouldn’t be too obvious something was happing in secret. Even Stanley showed you a smile then and now, when Tom and Dick weren’t paying attention to him.

You also started to watch these two and you noticed a really weird group dynamic. LeFou was basically only with Gaston, some kind of shadow. He got mostly ignored by Tom and Dick and the Bimbettes pretended he was air. Stanley seemed to be the only one, who paid attention to him…a lot of attention and after some time of observation you had a feeling, that Stanley’s girlfriend was a beard and he had a big crush on LeFou…and LeFou on Stanley. Stanley was also a bit of an outsider in the group. Tom and Dick seemed to be his friends, but he was different. Tom and Dick were loud, dumb and loved to be idiots. Stanley was shy, quiet and seemed to be pretty nice.

As it turned out, Gaston really was full of surprises, because he actually was a pretty big nerd. He knew a lot of stuff about TV series and films. You two could talk about the differences of Star Wars and Star Trek all day long or he could name all the Game of Thrones character deaths in order, without thinking about it. He also knew his Hogwarts house and could quote “The Hobbit” like you could quote Shakespeare.

To his surprise, one day in spring, your mother opened the door.

“Oh, Gaston. You are here…”, she said, obviously surprised.

“Shouldn’t I be here?!”

“Well, I just thought, she wouldn’t do it today…”, your mother mumbled and Gaston looked confused at her. “She got the Harvard letter.”

“Oh?! That’s great! Congratulations! I’m sure you are very proud of her. I mean, she worked her ass off. You’re probably celebrating and she forget to tell me and now I disturb the party…”

“She isn’t in Harvard.”

Gaston looked at her with open mouth.

“Wait…what?”

“Yes. It was negative reply.”

“Oh.”, was the only thing that came to his mind. “Can I…go to her?”

Your mother nodded and let Gaston in.

“I’m sure, she is happy about a bit company. She was pretty devastated. She is in her room.”

Gaston went upstairs and found you on your windowsill, looking outside. When he softly knocked at your door, your head turned around and looked at him. Gaston didn’t miss the red, eyes, the tear-stained face and the heart-breaking look at your face. He felt awful, seeing you like this.

“Gaston?! What are you doing here?”

“Well, I thought we would meet.”

“Oh damn.”, you said, hiding your face in your hands. “I forgot to text you.”

“Don’t worry. It’s not a problem. Your mother told me what happened. How are you feeling?”, he ask and closed your door behind him, walking to you and sitting down next to you.

You sniffed.

“Well, awful. Devastated. I can’t believe it. I worked so hard for the last years and it was for...nothing.”

“Don’t say that. I’m sure, it wasn’t for nothing.”

“Really? I’m not going to study at Harvard, so it really was for nothing.”

“I’m sure every other college would be more than happy to get you.”

You said nothing. You knew, deep down, that he was right, but at the moment you were to hurt to admit it.

“So, what’s the plan B?”

“I don’t have one.”

“What? You always have a plan B! And C. And D and E and F and…I’m pretty sure all the letters from the alphabet.”

You had to laugh and Gaston smiled at you.

“Better.”

“What is better?”

“You, smiling.”

You felt your face getting red.

“You also have a nice laugh.”

You looked up and realized how close Gaston was. He looked at you and you could perfectly see his green eyes, looking soft at you.

It was Gaston, who looked away and you noticed his slightly flushed cheeks.

“Well…um…I…I wondered…I mean…I know you usually don’t go to such things, because you have a lot to do and learn a lot and stuff, but…um…it’s my birthday tomorrow and…I’m having a party at one of the clubs, so…I wondered, if you would perhaps…maybe…if you have time…would you come?!”

“You are renting a club to have a party?!”

“My parents do. And Tom and Dick organize everything. Something about celebrating the 18th birthday big way.”

Your first impulse was to say “no”. Because he was right. You learned all the time and felt no desire to attend these parties. But now…

“You know what?! Okay. I’m going to be there.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. I mean, I never went to a party. All I ever did was sitting here and learning. And for what? Harvard rejected me. So I’m going to attend at least one high school party and start to have fun and a life. Can I bring Belle and Adam?”

“Sure. That’s…great!”, Gaston answered and seemed to be very happy.

The next evening, you stood in front of the club and didn’t felt so courageous. You even thought about just going home and watching a movie or something. But Belle didn’t want to hear any of it and basically pulled you inside.

And you felt a lot out of place. The club itself was nice. A big dance floor, a stage at one end and a huge bar at the right side. There were a lot of seats. The light wasn’t too bright, but bright enough to see everything and the music was pleasant. You saw the DJ next to the stage and at the stage some girls in underwear wear, dancing to the beat.

You looked at the other guests and you felt even more out of place. Of course you looked nice, in your opinion, you had put on your best outfit and the one that screamed “party hard” the most. But your style was easy, simple. No sexy stuff, no weird colours or crazy patterns. And with a look at the other guests, especially the girly, you realized, you looked more like someone who was attending the birthday party of their grandparents. Even the high heels you wore, where borrowed from Belle.

Before you could turn around and run away, a woman approached you.

“Welcome to the party. Can you tell me your names?”

She smiled friendly and Belle answered her question. She looked at her clipboard and nodded.

“Over there is the wardrobe and please give me your phones. There is a no-phone-rule at his party. Because whatever happens in this club, stays in this club.”

This didn’t calm your nerves, but you handed her your phone nevertheless. She put a sticker with your name on it and took the phones from your friends.

“Thanks. You can get it, when you go. Have fun at the Saints and Sinners party!”

“Saint and Sinners?!”, you asked with a raised eyebrow when you walked with Belle inside.

“Come on. This is going to be fun.”, she said enthusiastically.

“(Y/N!)”, you turned around, when you heard your name and you saw Gaston, making his way through the crowd to you. “I’m glad you are here.”, he finally said, when he was standing in front of you.

“You are talking with me?”

“Yes.”

“You do realize, I’m still the loser?!”

“Yes. And I don’t care and talk with you.”

You two smiled at each other until Belle coughed.

“Hello, Belle. Adam.”, Gaston greeted them, still looking at you.

“Hello, Gaston. Thanks for the invitation.”, Belle said and Gaston finally looked at her.

Adam nodded to him.

“Gaston!”, someone screamed in a shrill voice and you saw Gaston sighing. “Where is the birthday boy?!”

The Bimbettes appeared, obviously already tipsy and in something, that looked more like underwear but was probably supposed to be a dress. They stopped, when they saw you.

“Ew, who invited you?!”

“I did.”

They looked really confused at Gaston.

“Why?”

“Why not.”

“But Gaston…”, one of them started. “She is…ew.”

The girl looked at Belle.

“And this one is so…ew too.”

“You have such a way with words, Paulette.”, you remarked.

“I’m not Paulette!”, she hissed and looked angered at you.

“We need the birthday boy for the cake.”, one of the girls said and she and her sister grabbed Gaston and pulled him away.

He managed to smile at you, before he disappeared.

The third girl, not-Paulette, stepped in front of you.

“Why don’t you go and exist somewhere else.”

“We are invited.”, Belle said and not-Paulette looked at her.

“I don’t care. Just go and…be smart somewhere else or whatever.”, she said with clear disgust.

“You are the only person in this world, who could use intelligence as an insult.”, you said and not-Paulette shot you a dirty look.

“Look, I don’t know why Gaston decided to pay attention to you, but let me be very clear. He is mine and he wouldn’t even touch you or think about it, if you would be the last woman on earth. So why don’t you go back into your hole and stay there, loser.”

With that, she turned around and walked away.

“That’s going to be a great party…”, Adam said with a sarcastic undertone.

“Darling, would you get us something to drink?”, Belle asked and he nodded.

When he went away, Belle turned back to you.

“Don’t listen to these dolls. I mean, look at them. There is basically no difference between them and the strippers on stage.”

You laughed, because Belle was right.

“Don’t worry. I couldn’t care less about these Barbie dolls.”

“Good. But another thing…is there something you want to tell me?”, Belle asked and grinned.

“What do you mean?”

“Well, Gaston talks with you…he looked at you. He almost didn’t notice me and Adam.”

“What are you trying to say?”

“Gaston seems to like you. And when I say this, I mean like you.”, she said with a wink and you felt yourself blushing.

“Don’t be crazy. There is no way in this world or in any other world that someone like Gaston would like me... or like me.”

“If you say so…”, Belle said, but looked at you and you looked away. “But he looked pretty handsome…and hot.”

You had to admit, that this was true. The black trousers fitted perfectly and the red shirt accentuated his muscles. You also hadn’t missed, that Gaston had left some buttons open so you had a glimpse at his muscular and a bit hairy chest. For some reason, that thought made your skin tickle and you felt your cheeks flush more. Belle noticed this too, but said nothing.

The party was pretty great and you had a lot of fun. You danced with Adam and Belle most of the time, not seeing much of Gaston, because he was constantly with the Bimbettes or his friends. You also had a lot to drink and at some point you decided, it would be wiser to sit down. Belle was worried, but you told her, you were fine and she should enjoy the night and dance a lot with Adam.

You walked to one of the seats next to the stage and sit down. With a sigh, you leaned back and ordered another cocktail. Yes, this was probably a bad idea, because you already were drunk. Not tipsy or something similar, but drunk. On the other side, you were so drunk, you no longer cared and this night was all about having fun and living for the first time in…well, forever, so why not another drink. Adam would drive you home, so no need to worry about that.

While you sipped at the cocktail, you watched the dancers and strippers at the stage, trying to dance be sexy and being painfully over the top at the same time. Even their movements at the pole looked ridiculous.

“Obviously, you are not that smart.”

One of the Bimbettes appeared, not pleased to see you.

“Hello, Dumb.”, you greeted her, taking another sip.

“What did you call her?!”

“Ah, and Dumber. Where is Dumbest?”

The bitch look appeared on the faces of the two Bimbettes.

“You are such a loser, (Y/N)!”, one of them said.

You decided to call her Bimbette 1.

“Yes, I am.”, you said with a laugh.

“What is so funny?!”, Bimbette 2 hissed.

“Well, see, there is nothing wrong with being a loser.”

“There is a lot of wrong with that. No one likes you. You are so…smart.”

“Wow, what an insult. I feel like crying.”, you answered ironically and Bimbette 1 glared at you.

“You are so embarrassing. I mean, look at you. You look like a nun or something. No wonder, no one wants to fuck you.”

“Is everything alright?!”

Out of the nowhere, Gaston appeared, looking concerned.

“I’m fine!”, you said and grinning.

“We just tried to take the garbage out.”, Bimbette said and smiled brightly at Gaston.

“I’m the garbage.”, you added and smiled at the Bimbettes.

Gaston looked from the Bimbettes to you, unsure, what to do.

“By the way, I hope you don’t plan to pay these dancers. They are awful.”, you said and looked back to the stage.

“Really?”, Gaston asked confused.

“Yeah. I mean…they try so hard, it’s embarrassing to watch. Whoever hired same, should take his money back.”

“Like you can tell.”, Bimbette 1 hissed.

“Yeah. You wouldn’t even know how to do this.”, Bimbette 2 added.

“Because you are such a boring loser.”

“That’s enough, ladies!”, Gaston stopped them. “Could you…get me something to drink?”

They rushed away like there life depended on it. You looked after them and back at the stage. Gaston sat down next to you.

“So, you think they are horrible?”

“Bimbettes or the dancers?”

Gaston smirked.

“The dancers.”

“Oh. Yeah. I mean…look at that girl in the red underwear. These moves? Totally over the top!”

“That’s a pretty…bold statement.”

“It’s not. It’s the truth. Everyone could do this better. I could do this better.”

“Sure.”

You noticed the undertone and looked at Gaston. A smile was on his lips and he watched the dancers.

“You don’t believe me.”

“Oh, I do.”

“No, you don’t!”

Gaston looked at you, eyebrows raised.

“Well, don’t take it personally, but…you are not boring or a loser, but you are not the most exciting person.”

“Ha!”, you answered and felt insulted. “I could totally do this. I can dance, you know?! I have dance lessons, every week. I not only could do this, I would nail this!”

“Yeah, sure…”, Gaston answered, clearly not believing you.

“Here is your drink!”

The Bimbettes appeared with two drinks, handing them to Gaston.

“Hey, Dumb and Dumber…”, they looked at you. “...you think, I’m boring right?!”

“Yeah. It’s obvious.”, Bimbette 1 answered.

“You are the definition of not being interesting or sexy.”, Bimbette 2 added.

You heard a new song starting, so you stood up. You had no idea, if the talk was to blame or the alcohol, but you felt pretty courageous right now and you had an idea. A stupid one, probably, but you were too drunk to stop you from doing it.

“Well, pay attention and take some notes. I show you, what sexy is.”, you simply said, looking at Gaston who seemed to be really confused and then you walked the stage up.

You walked to the middle of the stage, the dancers a bit confused, but saying nothing. You stopped there, your back to the audience.

You closed your eyes, listening to the music, feeling the beat and you started to move slowly, getting more and more into the music. The people in the crowd started to look at you and you started to move more. When the chorus started, you looked over your shoulder. Gaston and the Bimbettes looked at you, the Bimbettes with crossed arms and angry, Gaston fascinated, with his mouth a bit open.

A smile appeared on your lips and you started to move your hips, your hands caressing your body, a hand pulling the hair clip out of your hair. It felt down over your shoulders and you threw the clip in Gaston’s direction. He caught it, still watching you.

Playfully, you grabbed the skirt of your dress, lifting it a bit. You only heard the music and you only saw Gaston, who looked at you, like you were the only person in the room. It made you braver and your hands wandered to your zipper of your dress, pulling it down slowly. You looked back to Gaston and bite your lip playfully, than the dress slipped down slowly, landing at the floor. You kicked it away and continued to dance in your underdress.

Gaston watched this in pure amazement. He never thought, you would something like this. He didn’t miss the tiniest motion of your body and noticed how beautiful you looked, so free, so happy and like you had the time of your life.

The underdress disappeared too and you danced, showing the hottest movements he had ever seen. He actually couldn’t remember he had ever seen something or someone hotter.

You grabbed the pole and danced at it, sexy and mocking the movements from the unprofessional dancers at the same time. Gaston felt himself laughing and smiling at you. You still looked only at him, smiling and teasingly.

“What is going on?”, Belle asked, when she came back from the toilettes. Everyone stopped dancing and looked to the stage.

Adam looked too, but seemed pretty shocked.

“Belle…”, he only said and pointed to the stage.

Belle pushed some people out of her sight and couldn’t believe what she saw.

“Oh my god…”

She stared at you for some seconds, before she grabbed Adam and pulled him with her.

“We have to get her off there!”

When the music ended, there was a lot of cheering and clapping, but you didn’t really heard it. You only smiled at Gaston, who clapped and had a big grin on his face. The next song started to play, so you left the stage and walked back to your seat.

The Bimbettes looked at you like they would kill you with their stares.

“That was so…predictable!”, Bimbette 1 hissed.

“Yeah?”, you asked and laughed. “What about this?!”

Before anyone could react, you grabbed Gastons face and kissed him. You planned to only give him a quick kiss, but the moment your lips touched his, something happened. You felt even more drunk and you kissed him a bit longer. His lips were surprisingly soft. It felt good, to kiss Gaston.

Gaston was so shocked, he didn’t knew what do to. Because no one had ever kissed him like that. And no one had ever felt so good.

You slowly pulled away, looking at Gaston and he was looking at you, at your lips and back into your eyes.

“(Y/N)!”

Belle appeared next to you, your clothes in her hands.

“We should go.”, Adam said, looking from Gaston to you and back to Gaston.

Gaston still looked at you. You took your hands of Gaston and cleared your throat.

“Yeah.”, you said and looked at the Bimbettes. “You still think, I’m boring?!”, you said, before Belle grabbed your arm and pulled you away.

“Such a slut.”, one of the Bimbettes said.

“Poor Gaston. Our darling had to kiss the loser.”, the other one added and both started to gossip about you.

Gaston didn’t hear it. Because he still felt your lips on his.

BATIM General Headcanons for All Characters

Some general headcanons for all the characters. This will probably be updated every once in a while. I’m leaving out ages and appearances due to having a separate post for that.

Sammy Lawrence:

- Sammy is a workaholic and is constantly working on his songs.

- He can be friendly once you get to know him.

- Can be happy and still be frowning.

- Cares about his friends and will stand up for someone if he has to.

- With all the distractions he has to deal with, he’s constantly getting headaches or migraines. Which make it harder to work.

- After a while of knowing each other, he and Susie got into a relationship. They were pretty happy and she saw his true self outside of work.

- He’s actually a pretty happy guy when he isn’t working and despite what people may think, is pretty fun too.

- In fact, when he drinks enough to get drunk he ends up being a funny drunk

- Sammy doesn’t actually hate Wally as much as people think he does. He just sees him as an annoying distraction. He doesn’t want him hurt or killed even. Hell, if something happens to him, he’ll go straight into a ‘big brother’ mode due to having a younger sister that’s roughly Wally’s age.

- His sister is 20-22 years old and is currently nameless. She has the same blue eyes as her brother but her hair is more blonde.

- He’s against smoking. Especially in the music department but anyone who does smoke never listens to him.

- He had a smallish mix breed dog that kept him company at home and was the light of his life before meeting Susie. Susie actually fell in love with his dog. And was always holding her when she was over. .

- When Sammy started having a sanctuary, it was at the same time that his mental health started to get bad due to the ink, pump, and other distractions. And he began to lose his mind. However, his memory stayed the same.  

- It’s possible that Joey was doing satanic things to him and making him hear voices a short time before he became a ink a monster. As a ink monster is where he was constantly hearing voices and screams in the ink and his head.

- After becoming a ink monster, his memory already started to get screwed up so he doesn’t quite understand why “Alice” is constantly yelling and attacking him. After being attacked so many times Sammy decided to just stay in the Music Department.

- Through his loneliness and quickly dwindling mental health and memory, he decided to pray to a ‘God’ to set him and the others free. At some point he decided Bendy was his Lord and began to worship him.  

- After so many years, the old Sammy officially died as he became too corrupted to care about others and began to sacrifice anyone he could. Anything to free him from that body.

Norman Polk:

- He’s the father figure of the group that everyone goes to. He’ll gladly listen and give advice.

- It’s a tie between him and Wally on who gives the best hugs.

- His family had a golden retriever and a fairly big fish tank.

- He smokes. And enjoys making Sammy hate it.

- Even though most of the employees find him creepy for ‘always watching and creeping around’, others still like and care about him.

- For the most part, he’s fine with his coworkers. It’s Joey that he doesn’t like but can’t quit the job.

- Loves the dark

- Dad jokes.

- As the Projectionist, he remembers having kids but their faces and bodies are blacked out with ink. He keeps a Boris plushie and a blanket with him in a room to make up for it.

- Unfortunately he also doesn’t remember his wife.

- Projectionist and Corrupted!Sammy are on okay terms and mutually decided to leave the other alone.

- He also can’t speak but can make clicking noises as the Projectionist and can hear perfectly.

- His lens can cry ink when he’s sad.

Wally Franks:

- Though he can legally drink, he’s still pretty childish and immature at times.

- Mostly everyone doesn’t mind. It’s nice having a ‘class clown’ so to speak.

- Except Sammy. He finds Wally annoying half the time and a big distraction.

- He had a beagle named Lucy.

- Before being killed by Joey in an attempt to become the ‘Perfect Boris’, Joey may have also done satanic things to him too. A few people noticed that he had suddenly became quiet and wasn’t his usual happy self. He even seemed afraid and jumpy.

- I like they theory that Wally is the perfect Boris and the reason he doesn’t talk is due to Joey threatening to beat him or rip his vocal cords out due to a mute Boris being better than one with the wrong voice.

- Due to being so scared already, Wally listened and remained silent. By the time he meets Henry, due to being 30 years later, he doesn’t remember him.

- Before Henry left, he and Wally were pretty close and Henry also saw him as a brother like Sammy did.

- After Henry left, he became best friends with Shawn who really made him happy again.

- He’s someone I will probably add more to later.

Susie Campbell:

- Usually she’s the sweetest person in the studio and is very friendly.

- But watch out when she’s angry or upset due to being pretty emotional and sensitive. Especially to certain things.

- Susie is wonderful to be around when she’s happy. She’ll also be there to help you with your lines and anything else.

- She had a cat and she and Sammy’s dog got along when Susie brought her over to see how they would act.

- After she and Norman went missing, her older sister helped Norman’s wife take care of their kids due to her being a housewife and not having a job. His wife was very thankful and their boys eventually became friends with her kids.  

- Her and Sammy always made great music together with her voice and his banjo. If he needed to test some songs, she was the one he asked to help.

- After finding out she was being replaced, she started to become unsure if Sammy still loved her and her voice. It got to the point that she started to distance herself from him.

- Not too long afterwards Joey killed her and Allison and kind of cut up their bodies and stitched different parts together since they were both Alice.  

- Susie is mostly in control of “Alice” with Allison being the other voice. She still holds hatred towards Sammy, thinking he betrayed her and her love. And constantly tried to attack and hurt him after he became a ink monster too.

- Him not remembering only angered her further.

- I’ll add more later for her.

Allison Pendle:

- She is actually a timid and shy person.

- Had no idea she was replacing Susie until she walked into the recording booth. She wanted to apologize and talk but Sammy told her to not bother, knowing how she gets when she’s upset and angry.

- And that she’ll likely make the situation worse.

- Meh. That’s it for now. We don’t know much about her other than she being Susie’s replacement.

Shawn Flynn:

- From ireland

- Is very friendly and bit of a flirt too.

- Laidback and chill

- Will give relationship advice

- He and Wally always joke with each other and even have inside jokes that no one can figure out.

- Actually, he and Wally are  best friends. Especially after Henry left. Shawn really cheered him up.

Grant Cohen:

- Is 10000% done with Joey and having to constantly make sure he doesn’t make the place go bankrupt. And struggling to keep the budget in line.

- Also not much to say about him, Shawn, and Thomas at the moment.

- Another smoker.

- He needs to when dealing with Joey.

Thomas Conner:

- Has a resting bitch face

- Might seem like a cold person but is actually pretty sweet and cares about his friends

- Joey is far from being his friend but he pays him so he sticks around.

- He smokes too.

- Literally everyone needs to smoke when dealing with Joey and his ideas.

Henry:

- Henry didn’t agree with most or all of Joey’s ideas but he knew there was no point in talking him out of it due to how stubborn Joey is.

- Joey overworked him and he rarely saw Linda anymore. Even just two weeks into the company which started in the early-mid 1930s.

- Boris was the first character they made before Henry made Bendy. After he left, Joey started to torture him so to speak and that’s why he was always getting scared and crying in the cartoons that we’ve seen so far.

- Henry may also be the one to be the ‘Perfect Bendy’ due to being the real creator.

- Was drafted during World War 2 and that was why he left.

- He was too traumatized from it that he stayed away from the studio until he received his letter from Joey. Though he did try and contact his old friends but found they had all disappeared.

- Linda is his wife and while they never had kids, they had cats and dogs. The dogs being mostly rescued mutts.They were a big comfort after Henry came back and was suffering from PTSD.

- After finding out his friends were missing they moved out of the city only to go back a little over 20 years later to their old home since Henry wasn’t suffering from PTSD as much anymore.

- When he got the letter, he thought it was a joke before finally deciding to go back to the old studio for good times sake.

Joey Drew:

- May of gotten Polio or some sort of decease at some point either before or after Henry left and that was what made him start looking into satanic things to make himself live forever and heal himself.

- He and Henry were best friends but he was angry at Henry before he left, not understanding that due to being drafted he didn’t have much choice. Plus Henry wanted to help his country.

- His anger and last conversation that they had was part of the reason Henry didn’t look for Joey right away and eventually found out that he ‘disappeared’

- He always changes the deadlines and pisses his employees off. Sammy is especially angry at this.

- Joey gradually started to do some satanic things and tested them out on a few employees. Sammy and Wally being two of them.

- Eventually he got one ink machine and when his employees came out as ink monsters, he got a second one to the disappointment of Grant, and this one made them come out almost (Alice and the Butcher Gang) or completely perfect (Perfect Boris)

- Sammy and Norman was forced into the first machine and got lucky to have a humanoid body.But Joey went a few extra steps more and forced a projector onto Norman’s head along with wires and a speaker.

- He used satanic stuff to keep his employees from leaving and killed them one by one (That’s at most 100 employees). Now the only way to truly escape is to destroy the second(main) ink machine.

- Joey is Ink!Bendy and wants revenge on Henry for never coming back.

How long will they last? - I really have no idea. There’s a lot of struggle against outside forces and their own clashing ideologies and backgrounds and Harry’s struggle to be a better person for her but they try to work things out and come together and understand each other. That’s a testament to how strong their relationship is, I think.

How quickly did/will they fall in love? - Melody is way quicker to fall in love than Harry is and she doesn’t wanna tell him cause she doesn’t wanna pressure him. So like, right now, she’s definitely close to being in love with him if she isn’t already but she’s gonna wait to tell him.

How was their first kiss? - I’m of two minds about this. Either it was super soft and tentative, really just testing the waters and both of them being fucking terrified cause Feelings…or it was really impulsive and passionate, maybe meant for one of them to shut the other up, and it leaves them both blinking in shock when they pull back.

Wedding:

Who proposed? - Harry. It goes back the Melody not wanting to pressure him thing. If they’re gonna get married, she’ll wait until he’s ready.

Who is the best man/men? - Gil and Uma, for sure.

Who is the braid’s maid(s)? - Giselle, probably Evie and Mal maybe? Her best friend Abby’s her maid of honor tho ( @warsraging )

Who did the most planning? - Melody, I’m sure. Harry’s probably 10000% down to pull a Will and Elizabeth wedding and just be like “Can we just have Uma marry us? Captains can do that.”

Who stressed the most? - Melody, I’m sure, since she’s the one who cares the most. Harry is still up for the eloping or having Uma or even Harriet marry them.

How fancy was the ceremony? - Pretty lowkey tbh. Melody’s never really cared for big fancy ceremonies and she knows Harry would much prefer something smaller and more intimate. Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.

Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - It’s not that Hook isn’t invited…it’s just that neither of them care if he shows up or not…

Children:

How many children will they have naturally? - I think one or two and that’s just a maybe. I don’t see Harry wanting to have many kids? He probably has a lot issues with the idea that he could very well end up like his dad without meaning to be.

How many children will they adopt? - I see them being way more likely to adopt, especially Isle kids.

Who gets stuck with the most diapers? - Melody, just because she’s naturally the most nurturing of the two. 

Who is the stricter parent? - I think, Melody just because she’s got a different set of rules and moral codes than Harry? Harry’s definitely the more easily upset parent.

Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? - Harry, if only to be like “Your mother’s gonna throw us all to the sharks if you got hurt.”

Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - Melody is the most doting mom tbh.

Who is the more loved parent? - Mels. She’s the softer parent, even if Harry’s the Fun Dad™

Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? - Melody tbh. Harry only goes to intimidate people who try and punish his kids. 

Who cried the most at graduation? - Melody, hands down.

Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - Harry tbh, he’s more understanding since he’s a VK himself.

Cooking:

Who does the most cooking? - Melody. She’s gonna be trying to find Auradon food that Harry likes for the rest of their lives tbh.

Who does the grocery shopping? - Melody, since she does most of the cooking.

How often do they bake desserts? - Not a lot tbh. Most of the time, it’s Melody trying to either surprise or entice Harry with something new and Harry sometimes helps by handing ingredients and watching. 

Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? - Harry’s definitely more meat and fish and Melody is way more balanced.

Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? - Melody, mostly cause she’s more likely to remember anniversary dates tbh.

Who is more likely to suggest going out? - Harry. He likes taking her out.

Who is more likely to burn the house down accidentally while cooking? - I’d say Harry but he’d dose any fire immediately so…

Who cleans the room? - Probably Melody but Harry seems like the type to have relatively orderly space?

Who is really against chores? - I wouldn’t say really but Melody is way more about maintaining the chores than Harry is.

Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? - Melody just because she knows she’s gonna have to be mediator depending on who the guests are.

Who takes the dog out for a walk? - They alternate, I think.

How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? - Depends on the holiday. Melody can get pretty into some. 

What are their goals for the relationship? - To support each other and talk through their issues. To make sure they both know that they’re loved and that they’ll have someone to relate to, even when things are hard.

Who is most likely to sleep till noon? - Neither of them tbh. I see Harry as an early riser for some reason? And Melody’s a relatively early riser too.

Who plays the most pranks? - I wanna say Harry but I know he’d be like ???? is this gonna piss her off, should I do this???

favorite squad: in terms of overall squad, i’m gonna have to go with the boy squad. the girl squad got too messy and there was a lot of messed up stuff that happened. the boy squad are just such bros and they’re so fun with each other idk man the boy squad is one of my fave parts of season 3

favorite character: if it’s not glaringly obvious by my lil avatar photo and my bio, my fave is my love, my life, eva kviig mohn. her character development and her story are my favorite of the whole show and i just really appreciate her a lot. (also lisa teige is so fucking beautiful so like, there’s also that)

least favorite character: the magnusson brothers are both really shitty ppl. but also i hate their parents as well because they were shitty and probably were a lot of the reason william and nikoli were such shitty ppl

most good-looking person: the skam cast is one of the most attractive casts i’ve ever seen so like this question is already flawed but if i had to choose, i would say eva (obvs) and even. like those two are the characters i remember seeing on screen for the first time and being like “woah hello okay hi <333333″

character you’d like to cuddle with: same as the question above. pretty much the same as above. i would love another isak x even or eva x jonas cuddle scene tho because those scenes were all so nice and soft :’)) but i would absolutely love a hug from chris. she looks like she gives great hugs. like the hug she and sana share in episode 5 of season 4.. i was like wow what a hug that would be very nice.

character you’d take with you on a deserted island: i’m gonna agree with lauren here and go with even. i think his mind is so beautiful and he has so many ideas about so many things. i also love even a lot because since i was like 5, i’ve viewed life as a movie. but instead of being the director of my own life, it’s like i’m the main character in my life (which makes sense because i’m an actor). i had never heard anyone else explain that before so when even said that in episode 5 i was like “hold the fuck up i love this show and this character so much now” so yeah i relate to even in that sense and would love to discuss that with him.

character you resemble the most: both physically and personality wise, i’m most like eva. i relate to her and her struggles the most out of any character. 

favorite friendship: jonas and isak!!!! best buddies since grade school!!!!! they have such a strong and beautiful friendship. when jonas was there for isak in season 1 when his mom collapsed and his dad left like wow brotp right there. when isak told jonas that his crush wasn’t a girl and jonas didn’t even seem surprised and was super chill about it like wow brotp right there. when jonas was giving isak advice on texting even “straight up” like wow brotp right there.

 favourite romantic pairing: isak and even 10000%. their love is so kind and pure and healthy. they’re the best relationship i’ve ever seen.

notp: noora and william. it was abusive and just an awful relationship. all you need to know about their dynamic is when noora tells william she wants to have sex and literally as they’re taking off their clothes william looks her in the eyes and says “i’d ask if you’re okay with this but i honestly do not care right now” when literally at the beginning of the episode she had told him the story of how she had sex way too young and was heartbroken by being dumped by the guy right afterwards. and literally 2 episodes before she thought she had been raped by his fucking brother. like are you actually fucking kidding me?!

favorite haircut/hairstyle: eva’s long mermaid waves, isak’s prince curls, and i know we never see sana’s hair because of her hijab but i love her yellow hijab at the end of season 2 and also the way she has styled her hijab in the karaoke scene. that was such a Look omg.

favorite outfit: eva’s entire season 1 wardrobe. chris’ pink 1-800-hotline sweater outfit from season 1 she looked so soft in it. sana’s outfit in ‘det beste fra islam’ i love her camo jacket so much. even’s outfit in the locker room scene. i love that turquoise jacket so much and i’m so glad it came back in season 4. isak’s julius ceaser halloween costume was a Look and made him look more of a prince than he already is. noora’s outfit she wore on her first date with william. the big cream sweater with the mom jeans and the short boots wow.

favorite location: the skatepark in season 1. the windowsill at hartvig nissens. kollektivet. eva’s house. the dock that sana and yousef go to in ‘mahgrib’. 

favorite season: season three. it is such an artistic masterpiece. from the writing to the pacing to the acting to the cinematography and the romeo and juliet parallels and the biblical references. experiencing it in real time was such a life changing experience. season one is also a super close second.

least favorite season: season two.

favorite episode: i’m gonna answer this in 2 parts. so in terms of episode, season 1 episode 8 is my favorite. the music and cinematography are so fitting and tell the low point of eva’s story so beautifully. the big plot point of eva’s backstory with ingrid and sara is revealed. it’s just so so good and lisa’s acting is otherworldly in it. but in terms of watching in real time, season 3 episodes 8 and 9 were the best to experience. episode 8 took us on just an upwards high and isak and even were over at isak’s for the whole week singing dumb pop songs in the kitchen, and playing fifa, and doing The Thing in the shower. it was just such a great week and then the hotel scene dropped and no one said anything. like every skam platform online was dead because everyone was dealing with it. and then experiencing episode 9 was the most i’ve ever felt connected to the use of real time. the frustration and sadness and urgency of that week was so powerful and every text and clip and the pacing of it all told the story so clearly. and kudos to tarjei for crying 3 times that week like his acting is so strong during episode 9.

favorite scene/clip: the first clip that comes to mind when i think of my favorite is ‘je elsker deg’ from season 1 episode 8, the scene where eva goes to the skatepark to tell her side of the story to jonas. the aesthetic and vibes of that scene are so strong with the fog and cloud and the city views and the graffiti. it just feels like a grey autumn city day. and eva’s outfit is is so nice and when eva walks into the skatepark and ‘lover where do you live’ swells as jonas is skating like wow it’s such a cinematic moment. and then they talk and eva is so honest and confused and conflicted and crying and jonas just wants to know who she is and what she stands for and leaves her there by herself. like fuck i can’t even put it into words but i love that scene so so much and i’ve seen it so many times. lisa and marlon’s acting is so strong in that scene too. shoutout to the cat walking around eva while she’s standing outside of jonas’ apartment. i also really love the bit in ‘o helga natt’ where isak is looking at the cross and puts the suicide text and the romeo and juliet thing together and there’s all the flashes of even laying in bed and the mania wikipedia page and romeo and juliet like the editing of all those flashes of what isak’s is thinking was so cool like i love that moment and the editing and the choice of clips there so much.

moment(s) that made you cry:  the only time i actually ever cried during skam was right after i watched the last clip. like i’ve never legitimately cried watching skam. i was so heartbroken after it ended like it finally clicked that it was over and i was also so overwhelmed because of how it ended with our perspective and it was a lot to deal with wow. i cried on and off that entire evening.

moment(s) that made you laugh: omg the scene with noora walking in on eskild getting blown while ‘circle of life’ is blasting in the background i was just like oh my gooooddddd. i laughed so much. in the easter episode in season two when it was revealed that sana and chris were playing eva and noora and vilde i laughed so much because eva was freaking out. also, when eskild was trying to flirt with vilde in season 2 episode 1 and was so obviously gay and trying his best it was just SO FUNNY wow i love eskild

Where self esteem lives in the brain 

-individuals with high self esteem are less prone to affective disorders like depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.

—48 subjects between the age of 18 and 19 Years old. 28 were female 

—All subjects were screened to be right-handed and self-reported no current or history of psychiatric or neurological conditions.

—Two diffusion scans were acquired per subject. For each participant, two runs of 151 whole-brain volumes (35 axial slices per whole-brain volume, 3 mm isotropic voxels) were collected.

—Each subject’s trait and state self-esteem was assessed outside the scanner. Trait self-esteem was measured using the Janis and Field Feelings of Inadequacy Scale which asked participants to report general self-evaluative feelings over the course of the previous year

These results also add to a growing body of literature on evaluative self-referential cognition and suggest that self-esteem may be better characterized by distributed brain network properties rather than the function of any individual region alone.

Low Self Esteem 

People with low self-esteem are more troubled by failure and tend to exaggerate events as being negative.They are more likely to experience social anxiety and low levels of interpersonal confidence. This in turn makes social interaction with others difficult as they feel awkward, shy, conspicuous, and unable to adequately express themselves when interacting with others. Research has also shown that low self-esteem has to linked to an increased risk of teenage pregnancy. 

Children: It should be noted that on average self-esteem during childhood is found to be relatively high. Low self-esteem in children tends to be related to physical punishment and withholding of love and affection by parents. Children with low self-esteem rely on coping strategies that are counterproductive such as bullying, quitting, cheating, avoiding etc. Socially children with low self-esteem can be withdrawn or shy, and find it difficult to have fun. They are more likely to yield to group pressure and more vulnerable to being bullied.

Teenagers: Researchers have explained this decline to body image and other problems associated with puberty. Boys have higher self-esteem than adolescent girls. Girls with low self-esteem appear to be more vulnerable to perceptions of the ideal body image perpetuated in western media

The importance of self esteem in kids: 

positive: 

When kids are confident and secure about who they are, they’re more likely to have a growth mindset. That means they can motivate themselves to take on new challenges and cope with and learn from mistakes. They’re also more likely to stand up for themselves and ask for help when they need it.

Kids develop positive self-esteem by working hard toward a goal and seeing their hard work pay off over and over again. Accomplishing things shows them they have what it takes to face new challenges. When kids do well at something, it also pleases other people, like their friends and the adults who care about them. That feedback also makes them feel good.

Negative: 

One common reason is when kids struggle in school. If kids experience failure in school, they probably don’t get a lot of positive feedback from adults or their classmates. They might get positive feedback that’s not sincere. This can make them mistrust the adults who are supposed to be helping them. As a result, they feel less sure of themselves and their abilities. They may not feel motivated to try things that are hard for them, and have a tough time dealing with mistakes. Kids with negative self-esteem can also have a harder time standing up for themselves.

Why do you think people have low self esteem ? 

I believe social media has a huge part in making people think about themselves compared to what they see. Such as the Kardashians or pretty much anybody else who is thin and “perfect”. 

In your opinion, does social media play a big factor in that? 

Yes, when every commercial or catalog is filled with girls who are probably all a size 2 or less and men who are muscular and very fit it feels like that’s what the norm should be. 

Do you feel low self esteem and negative body image have an impact on your performance at work or in school? 

Yes, Especially when you gain weight and you aren’t send anymore and everyone else has really nice bodies and that’s what seems to matter it really puts thoughts in your head about how you aren’t good looking.

Do you feel there are resources around that can help you feel better about yourself? 

In all honesty I think that it comes from myself. I feel like if we are feeling this way it’s because we are thinking it. Social media and environmental factors definitely play a huge role in how I think and feel as well as probably a lot of other people. However it starts with loving myself first and feeling comfortable in my own skin.

When do you think the best time educate others about positive body image and high self esteem would be? 

I think that parents should educate their children right away. With teaching them to feel comfortable with who they are, what they look like, and teach them to love themselves. The past 3 to 4 years of my life as a 22-year-old woman has been teaching myself how to love myself fully and to feel OK with who I am as a person and not compare myself to others. Nobody taught me to just focus on myself so I spent my entire teenage years in elementary school trying to be like somebody else instead of just being me. I think that if parents took the time to teach the children confidence and believe in themselves but also to stay humble it would be beneficial to society.

What would you like to see changed in order for people to have a more positive view of themselves?

I think when there are “plus size” models or models that don’t get photo shopped it speaks the truth about what people actually look like in real life. I think it would help people feel more comfortable and not feel like they have to live up to any expectations. Not saying that just because they have skinny/fit models means that that’s not OK I just think that a variety of them should be what you see in catalogs are in commercials because that’s what people look like in real life there are sizes 0-20+. It would be nice if no matter what you look like or what you wore that it would be acceptable in society. When we set these guidelines as to what we think everyone should wear or look like it truly causes people to feel uncomfortable with themselves and that is not fair. Growing up kids are always worried about having the nicest clothes or having the next technology and I think that is why people say that millennials suck. It’s always about the next best thing and staying on top of what society is doing and I think that it started a long long time ago and now we are just created this way because we went through generation after generation of things upgrading and getting better. I feel like this is a blessing and a curse. Not saying that I will not provide my child with nicest clothes or give them technology because I definitely well, I just feel like it shouldn’t be brought to such attention and that we should teach our children to stay humble and not feel like they need those things in order to have a certain status.

Oh I just thought about something. How everyone refers to a nice body as a Beachbody I feel like there shouldn’t be anything that is called a Beachbody because then it’s kind of saying that the only body that’s acceptable to be shown off at the beach is a skinny and fit body.

Also when people are heavier set they have to get clothes through catalogs in specialty stores especially if they want really cute clothes just like the rest of us. I feel like there should be a place where they can easily get it just like anybody else going to the store in the pricing on clothes for people who are a size 3 XL is ridiculous. 1. Society today places a lot of emphasis on physical characteristics and with all of the technology and abilities to change/perfect body image, it’s an impossible standard for an average person to uphold.

2. I think social media plays into self esteem in both negative and positive ways. In the recent years there has been a lot of effort to show flaws and imperfections and celebrate the fact that everyone is unique and that is beautiful. An example would be Aerie. If you look at their website photos for merchandise, they have all different body types and skin types! I think there are definitely places on the internet that uphold a negative standard of perfection but it all depends where you look. 

3. I think negative self esteem definitely holds people back from putting themselves out there and taking a risk. I know in the past, it has definitely prevented me from reaching for what I truly wanted, but lately I’ve been more conscious about it and have been trying to speak more positivity and belief in myself to take those risks! 

4. Look on the internet! There are resources everywhere!!! Like I said before, it just depends where you look and what you focus on! 

5. Middle school because there are SO many changes happening for young women! But also, it should continue throughout high school.

6. I think there just needs to be a continued effort but I think we have made some progress so far in the last few years! Bringing body positivity to schools would be really helpful!

Q: Why do you think people have low self esteem ? I think people have self esteem because of many reasons. Society being one of them. We live in a world where pretty is the only thing in, we are surrounded by pictures, videos and TV showing only fit, beautiful people with their lives together. 

Q: In your opinion, does social media play a big factor in that? Social media plays a HUGE role in this. People pay attention to likes and not actual problems. A selfie can get 100 likes but someone reaching out for help is ignored because depression and anxiety gace become the norm.

I think it does affect people at work because everyone feels they are trying to live up to a certain look or vibe that isnt them. Espcially young people in school, the time they take to beautify themselves in the morning is unreal, I myself was that way and it took me 10 years to be comfortable in my body without makeup, nice clothes and my hair perfect. 

Q: Do you feel there are resources around that can help you feel better about yourself? I do feel there are plenty of resources around to help each other out with this. Social media is filled with negativity but it's also filled with uplifting supportive people in groups or simply on your page who are also afraid to show the true them. I am lucky to have found a circle of women who support, love and help me in life. You just need to find yourself a circle who cheers you on and sees every aspect of beauty you offer.

I have a 9 year old stepdaughter if this helps in any way and she likes to watch me scrool facebook...  I hear her say oh that little girl is so skinny or look at her pretty blonde hair! its heart breaking. She even says she cant wait until she is as skinny as me .. I'm like hun your 9 and should not worry about these things at all yet.

I was in a car accident 4 days ago. My Mother was the passenger in my car (I was driving). I was on the off ramp getting off the freeway. All cars behind me were stopped. I was stopped waiting to make a right turn. An emergency vehicle was coming in my direction from my left. Therefore, I was waiting for the emergency vehicle to pass. The person behind me (large dodge ram truck I am in an '08 2 door Infiniti coupe) thought I went so he 'gunned it' to get in front of the emergency vehicle. Unfortunately, we had not gone so he pushed my vehicle out in front of the emergency vehicle. Luckily, I was able to turn my car out of the way. I did not hit anyone (no one was in front of me). My Mother and I were both put into a gurney and taken to a local hospital in an ambulance. We both had our seat belts on and suffered whiplash. We were released 5-6 hours later after x-rays, etc. We were both prescribed medicine. My Mother has had 3 brain tumors and has trouble with her speech etc. and any violent startling trauma can get her shaken up pretty badly and confused. I know she hit her head but, she is in pain but not nearly as much as I am. With my Mother's condition I don't know if this kind of thing can have negative effects later on. I know that my neck and back is pretty messed up. It hurts to stand for after 15 minutes or so. My car is pretty messed up and had to be towed. I plan on taking it back to the Infiniti shop to get all new parts. My car has all the upgrades in it so I want it to be taken care of. Am I allowed to take it to the Infiniti dealership or will Geico (the other persons insurance) not allow that, or does it not matter? The police gave the guy that hit us a citation. I have USAA and the other person has Geico. I just want to know exactly what to do in this situation. My husband gets insurance through his work, and they take out $170 a week (he gets paid weekly). So that totals about $730 a month for us and our kids plus maternity benefits. Should I hire an attorney for this?, I purchased a policy online a few months ago within the first few days that i had this insurance I had a storm and damaged my vehicle (minor) with hail damaged I submitted out a claim, appraiser was sent they covered the loss sent a check to me, now i take it to the bodyshop and try to have it fixed but they need a supplement, they contact insurance co. but insurance co, makes many excuses over this they state I dont have full coverage which I do, and it was verfied with them that i do, the next few weeks pass and then I finally get a call from a manager at the insurance company stating that they mistakenly sent me out a check because I made a false claim report, they said that they can tell by my pictures before policy was bought that vehicle had damaged (which is an excuse of denying supplement) and stated the the adjuster overlooked everything point here is that insurance co, cancelled my policy by stating underwriting issues, so now Im without insurance coverage, the manager also stated she reported this to the texas state but mentioned she could not put a stop payment on the check and that I could still use it to fix the car or cashout the check... I am really dissapointed at how all this was handelled, Im thinking about getting an attorney, I already discussed and this issue with the Insurance company and Im basicly told that I lied about the claim and they end my call... Should I wait to get an attorney or should I just get one and go from there? I believe this is bad faith insurance coverage, What should I do? I am currently working a temporary job away from home in another state not my permanent residence (I am living there for the term of the employment). While there I bought another vehicle and registered it in that state and when insuring it moved my other car to the policy not realizing this could cause a problem. Now on my first vehicle, which was registered in my home state, the home state has refused to renew the registration because it carries out of state insurance. However, I also don't own the first vehicle, it is owned by my parents who are a resident of my home state, I just use it and pay the insurance. So unless I am missing anything, It looks like I am basically going to be forced to register that vehicle in a state where I do not have residence or cancel my insurance policy and get insurance for only that vehicle through a provider in my home state. Is this it or are there other options? I'm confused because they let me renew last year even though I had the out of state insurance, but I had switched during that year so maybe they considered me part-time or something. I would like to avoid changing any state registrations for the time being, because this process is expensive and complicated between the two states in question. I have been looking for used cars in the 10-15 grand range as my second car, currently drive a miata, and I am stuck on a few cars: -01-02 s2000 -01 m5 -01-03 s4 I just recently turned 18, and took my driving test, and passed. I was just wondering why insurance on an s2000 is MORE expensive than an m5 or s4. I was really sold on the s2000 because its 4 cylinders naturally aspirated (cheap on gas), a convertible, and relatively pretty. All of this was great news, until I saw how much insurance would be for this car. Lets look at the facts for these cars s2000: 2 door convertible 237hp/153lbft RWD 2 Liter N/A 4 cylinder top speed: 155 0-60: 5.5 - 6 seconds m5: 4 door Hardtop 394hp - I don't know the torque RWD 4.9 liter Naturally Aspirated v8 top speed: ~180 mph / 155 mph with limiter 0-60: 4.7-5 seconds s4: 4 door Hardtop 261HP/I do not know the torque AWD 2.7 Liter Twin Turbo v6 top speed: do not know/ limited to 155mph 0-60: 5.5 seconds I know that the small size of the car may make the s2000 unsafe, but the m5 is much more of a car than the s2000, and in my opinion much, MUCH more unsafe than the s2000. The s2000 is a sports car, but what is the m5 then, a 4 door family car? It is much more than that. High performance sports car in my opinion would be much more apropriate. So I watched the whole entire CMAs instead of Game 7 of the World Series and don't regret a single choice I made (the game went into extras, you don’t really have to watch baseball until the ninth inning tbh), and it struck me how much of a dorky theatre kid Brad Paisley was. He's objectively a great guitarist, like hokey as this song is and as little I know about music I think that's a dope fucking guitar line, but gosh darn, he was trying so hard the whole time at those CMAS! And that puts a song like this in perspective, because, like I said, it's hokey as fuck, but if you can just understand that Brad Paisley's sense of humor is that of someone who understands that being funny is a way to be Liked and is trying his best to be Liked, it sort of comes together and you can brush it off.

HOLY SHIT THIS FUCKING BEAT THE TUBA HAS NEVER HAD A BETTER DAY IN ITS LIFE. OK, this is the first 2007 track I think has been unjustifiably forgotten by time. “Say OK” hit me, but I think that was just a moment for me. This is objectively a classic, this fucking beat, man. Young Buck doesn't add a ton to the proceedings, but he doesn't ruin anything, his gruff, shouty flow is perfect for the beat, and I'll admit, I got a dark chuckle out of the "I can serve Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown" line. This was fuckin' rad, y'all, the best "new to me" song I've heard so far. Seriously this beat, how have we not found a better home for it, how did no one else latch onto it. A strong silver medalist in the "Southern rap songs with the word 'buck' in the title" category.

So, I listened to a lot of the local buttrock station in my teens, because that's what the radio at the auto shop where I worked was always tuned to, was 93X. And, I dunno, there's a lot of bullshit I forgot and a lot of shit too horrible to purge from the mind, I've heard the acoustic version of Staind's "Outside" more times than any man ever should, but there were some songs where the Stockholm Syndrome hit, and you were like, "Well, maybe Chevelle isn't ALL bad." This was definitely the point where I was like, "Hey, this is the one decent Papa Roach song!" I was legit angry when I realized this was that song, I forgot I ever loved a Papa Roach song, I was 10000% sure this was a cover because there was no way I was going to go anywhere but IN on this song, but no, this is a song I shouted in the shower at least five times. I'm so disappointed in myself right now, but... But, yeah, this is, I can’t quite place where they cribbed the verses from but they cribbed well, the chorus is shouty and fake-deep like all the great buttrock songs, and I love that ending, the “one last kiss” thing over that bass line, without reservation. We have to be true to who we were, and who we are is never fully removed from who we were. I hate this. I hate having to admit this. THE ONE PAPA ROACH SONG I FUCK WITH, AND IT HAS TO BE PART OF THIS PROJECT. I have less reservations about loving a Breaking Benjamin song, though, because Breaking Benjamin wasn't fake-deep like Papa Roach. ("My feelings for you are forever." God, that's stupid. No, Breaking Benjamin was legit dark, they were a buttrock band I knew was OK because my friend who ended up going to a semi-prestigious art high school of some renown was into them. Is it the same song as "The Diary of Jane?" Yeah, kinda, there's more than a little resemblance, "THE DIARY OF JANE" IS A LEGIT GREAT SONG AND BITING THAT SONG IS A SMART MOVE.

22) "The Heart Part 4," by Kendrick Lamar

I mean, with the way I do this thing, everything that's been said about this song has been said, and I'm hella late to the party, trying to get another round of Pin the Tail on the Donkey started. "You didn't have fun without me, I'm about to have fun WITH you!" No Bob! we already played that game Bob!. "BLINDFOLD ME!" I think it's vitally important that Kendrick Lamar remind everyone that he's the best MC alive right now, because he is, and gosh, he just fucking raps for four minutes. Barely a hook, just Kendrick Lamar verses and flows for a solid four minutes, and I'm really curious how many rappers could sustain a song for four (mostly) uninterrupted minutes just on their own. Minimalist production, it's just your voice and your words. I'd put Danny Brown in that category, but it'd be a bleak-ass four minutes. I want to put Killer Mike in that category, but I have to think there's a reason he works best in a duo. I'd want to listen to what four minutes of undiulted Young Thug would sound like?, but more out of curiosity than belief in his ability. And I mean Kendrick's the only one in the popular consciousness who could do it, no fuckin’ question, there's no one in the mainstream rap world anywhere NEAR his level. (Kendrick Lamar is barely mainstream, of course, and that fact is a source of much consternation on this song, like there's no way the entire Kendrick album breaks the Hot 100 like the entire Drake album did, but he was in a Tay Tay song the one time and that's enough.) Just listening to Kendrick Lamar rap is one of the most thrilling songs I've heard for YAS 2017. Honestly, I'm ranking it too low in the Top 20, but only because I have to think better things are on their way and am wary of that recency bias wave.

49) "XO Tour Lif3," by Lil Uzi Vert

Congratulations on being the modern rap song which followed "The Heart Part 4!" You were always going to suffer in comparison, and while I regret that it happened to you, I hope you understand it had to happen to someone. I mean, this is a three-minute song, and at some point I got bored enough that I forgot I was supposed to be paying attention to come up with an observation and/or a joke and did other things. Not even shit I needed to take care of, I checked Facebook and thought about getting a glass of milk until he started saying all his friends are dead, like what?, oh okay I guess that's how this song ends then, OH FUCK well prolly not worth dipping back in if I got that distracted.

So over the last four weeks, only three women have had tracks debut on the Hot 100. That's pretty cool. One of the three dudes who wrote this song, about what a girl REALLY wants from a man, was also a co-writer on Jason Derulo's "Wiggle," which is, I mean, I'm going off Wikipedia, I'm hopeful this is too awful to be true, but if it isn't, how does that dude sleep at night? What does that dude believe in? Who is his god, just, to what moral authority is our man Joe London holding himself accountable? Do Not Trust Joe London. Another of the songwriters worked with a band called Confederate Railroad. Country music is the coolest. I'm so proud to like this genre.

Other than that gripe, though, I dunno, I didn't have a bad time! I enjoyed it about as much as I did "Running Back" a few weeks ago, it didn't light this Tuesday evening on fire, but it was a chill groove, and I appreciated the B+ to which all involved contributed.
