Hi!! I love the art and characters for Something Strange in Pavalon Meadow and I think it's such a cool concept and fun to think about ❤️ I hope you don't mind a few questions! Feel free to skip any that you're not interested in answering :)

From the mock screenshots it seems Riley can fight with guns. Does Yevine use weapons as well or does she stick to magic (or avoids fighting)? Does Riley know any magic?

Do elves in Pavalon Meadow have varying levels of nightvision or is it pretty standard?

Between Riley and Yevine, is either story / perspective a "hard mode"?

When a player would start the game, it seems Riley is the only one selectable - when does Yevine become available? Can you only play as her after clearing the game as Riley?

Is the overall story for Pavalon Meadow linear, or can Riley and Yevine make choices that effect the ending?

both of them can do either! it's just a little harder for riley to master magic as it's not what he starts with, and vice versa for yevine. i think they have a buff in their respective areas; riley is an adept fist fighter because his actual DnD class is Monk, and yevine is an adept magic user because her actual class is Wizard. the use of guns is actually not natural to either of them, fun fact! it's something you have to work equally hard at in both campaigns to fully do. hehe.

they do! it comes with age. the average elf lifespan is 2000 years, and their nightvision becomes not so good from 1700 onward. but they hardly care since it's just their vision going in general, seeing in the day time is not too easy for elderly elves either.

Between Riley and Yevine, is either story / perspective a "hard mode"?

not exactly, but i imagine that once you've gotten used to the playstyle of riley, even after unlocking and using magic, not being able to switch to regular fighting as yevine might come as a shock and would seem more difficult in comparison. i guess this sortaaa answers the next question but i'll elaborate!

yevine becomes playable after necessary story locks are reached in a riley playthrough! which would be aboutttt 75% of the way through. the idea behind it is that most players would be very invested in their riley playthrough and wouldn't wanna switch over yet anyway, but the option is there for the few who've been a little sick of him for whatever reason.

in a meta sense, i will say that whoever is playing pavalon meadow (in the written portions describing their experiences) is actually on a NG+. this is just so i can start posting yevine playthrough blurbs whenever i feel like it instead of when they'd actually start appearing. i just feel it would suck so bad to keep her in the dark for so long when she's a character i love so much and wanna get into soon. it'd drive me crazy

it's mostly linear, with endings being determined by arbitrary things like how many people you helped or maybe one single choice somewhere near the end of the game. (that way, it's just a tree with a few branches, as opposed to a tree with a few branches that all have several little twigs coming off of them. if that makes sense LOL) i know for sure i want 3 endings for each campaign, because i feel like that's something that was both normal for games at the time, and also doable for me writing-wise :)

Give me pre-virus Moon that hates when all their calculations come back with an unacceptable margin of error for hurting their friend coworker if they try to intervene with the Intruder so close.

Give me pre-virus Moon who feels a curl of dark amusement when the security guard their friend hisses out that they're not the big dog.

Give me pre-virus Moon that stays stock still when the security guard screams just one word: Moon.

Give me pre-virus Moon that runs the calculations again and again and again, hating when the Intruder cuts the security guard again. Deeper this time.

Give me pre-virus Moon that watches intently as their coworker friend starts laughing, reading the increasing unease in the Intruder's body language.

Give me pre-virus Moon that is running the calculations so often, their software is asking if there's been an error, but there's only their increasing desire to get their friend away safely.

Give me pre-virus Moon that falls from the eaves like an avenging angel when their friend's laughter unsettles the Intruder enough for them to back off.

Give me pre-virus Moon that is just that little bit less careful with how they handle the Intruder, leaving careless nicks and bruises and pulling the zip ties just that little bit too tight.

Give me pre-virus Moon who hovers over the security guard their friend as the police ask questions and request footage.

Give me pre-virus Moon who smoothly interjects when the topic of medical treatment for the security guard their friend crops up, assuring them that all injuries on-site must be treated by Fazbear approved medical personnel.

Give me pre-virus Moon that watches closely as their friend the security guard doesn't correct them.

Give me pre-virus Moon who cleans up and bandages their security guard friend.

Give me pre-virus Moon who changes their routes to always keep their security guard friend in sight during the night.

Vincent Brewer - mob boss, 41 years old, he/him, ENTP 7w8, tries to be the cool nonchalant dad but absolutely isn't, his colleagues playfully call him mama bear because of his treatment towards you.

He is a parental yandere because he simply likes the thought of having someone dependent on him (and a little bit of trauma from his childhood)

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I think the FT ships don't need to have the same children as their Edolas counterparts? We already saw it with Edo!Jerza having Irene, while official art shows Earthland!Jerza with a son.

Nothing wrong with the Edolas kids ofc, I just think it would be cute if the Earthland pairings had the opposite set of genders (e.g., Nalu with a son, Gruvia with a daughter) and the kids in both dimensions even got to meet or interact somehow? Their parents proudly showing them off to their counterparts, like they did themselves back in the day.

Discovering Tunes Through Fic: A Rec List

A sequel of sorts to my Discovering Lit Through Fic list from earlier this year (which I desperately need to update)! It's always fun to find mention of a song or musician/artist/band that you love in fic, and I also enjoy how such inclusions can lead to finding new things to listen to (some of these songs made my spotify wrapped entirely because of these fics!).

This list brings together works that I have encountered in my reading travels that have somehow incorporated songs or artists within the work (separate from being inspiration or source of title). If you see an artist or song that is your jam or piques your interest, be sure to give the fic a try—the music was selected with intent, so the work is probably your vibe!
