Meet May's Pal of the Month... the Antilles Pinktoe Tarantula!

Also called the Martinique Pinktoe, this arboreal tarantula begins its life with an electric blue carapace and stunning black and white stripes. As they mature, these gentle giants shed their baby blues for metallic greens and fiery reds. And of course, their signature pink toe tips!

These arachnid architects build intricate funnel-shaped webs amongst the branches of their tropical treetop homes, spending most days patiently hunting small insects. Their webs are often surprisingly thick and sturdy almost like fabric.

The Antilles Pinktoe are classed as "least concern" and are in fact very popular for tarantula enthusiasts due to their unique appearance and gentle temperament.

I never realized why my parents spent the weekend cleaning and working around the house instead of relaxing. Now as an adult working full time with a toddler and a house- I totally get it. 

The weekends can be more exhausting than work weeks.
