As expected, that Tanizaki really was a illusion of his ability, which he apparently activated when Kunikida was attacked by the divine being last chapter.

Even though this is a really popular theory in the fandom i didn't expect it to be real (i always thought they were weird due to some childhood trauma or something like that), nor that it would be revealed at a time like this, but is good to know that they weren't actually incestuous.

The Tanizaki siblings have always been characters that intrigued me, and i really hope their story can be explored further after the end of this arc. Apparently, not even Naomi herself knows about her own origin, considering that Tanizaki wrote a note about it and left it well hidden, and now he asked Atsushi to pick it up and, from what the manga implied, give it to Naomi, so she could knew about his family in case he died there. Which makes me wonder how important or dangerous her real family might be, and that maybe that's the reason why Tanizaki has always been so overprotective of her, along with his somewhat violent personality.

I haven't read The Makioka Sisters and Naomi, so I won't comment too much because I'll end up saying something that doesn't make any sense at all.

I know that these death will probably be undone, and that they are happening more to show how a real battlefield is, even with ability users, to make Atsushi feel completely alone again, until Akutagawa finally arrive and the two fight against Ame-no-gozen, but it doesn't change the fact that characters i like a lot are being turned into BUBBLES AND EATEN BY THIS ELDRITCH GOD!!

We got Kenji and Tetchou back but at what cost.

Kenji is just so happy to be able to help his friends. He doesn't even care if he's going to die, because Atsushi is going to live, and that's enough for him. He tells Atsushi to move on while he dies, beacuse he knew Atsushi needed to go somewhere safe!! THIS IS A FOURTEEN YEAR OLD TEENAGER, HE SHOULD BE AT SCHOOL, NOT AT WAR!!

And Atsushi is so desesperate due to the fear of the divine being and the pain of seeing his friends diyng in front of him that i want to give him a hug.

Literally the only good thing in this chapter was finding out that Lucy and Kyouka are fine, traped, but fine. At least they're not dead.

Leaving the negative feelings aside, we FINALLY had an interaction between Fyodor and Atsushi! If we don't have explanations about Atsushi's past and powers in the next chapters I'm going to go crazy. I know this will be traumatic for Atsushi, but Fyodor knows more about his powers than Atsushi himself, and I think it's time we know more about him, especially the connection between him and the book.

Chances are the s/o in question was a foreigner and seeing someone like that in Yokohama is just bound to attract attention... Be it good or bad.

When she first met the Armed Detective Agency it was probably through Dazai's flirting, surprise, surprise. The girl was just minding her own business but Dazai being Dazai, he just had to make a move. The two hit it off and s/o eventually meet the rest of the agency - Atsushi is smitten almost instantly, how could he not be? He is actually talking to a really pretty girl and she is... nice! Kind! Patient! He's sweating like crazy and he is one of the first ones to form a crush, slowly blossoming into a delusional obsession. He knows he's nothing, he knows he's worthless but... Atsushi can't let that kindness get away from him, he's not that selfless. Ranpo is intrigued to say the least and his obsession is a slow burn but it will get there at some point. The longer he waits, the stronger his desire becomes. Kunikida is in furious denial of his feelings. No, he is not attracted to this random woman, she does not fit his ideals...! Stop looking at him like that, he is being serious!! Despite his denial, Kunikida keeps an extensive record of his s/o - her whereabouts, hobbies, likes, dislikes, the whole lot! Tanizaki pays no mind to s/o but he becomes more interested because of his sisters influence. Naomi is a sweetheart and it is so nice to have another girl around!~ Kenji is a sweetie, but you never did notice the dark glint in his eyes once your back was turned to him, did you? Yosano is openly flirty, but not quite like Dazai. She's a lot more subtle and her body language betrays her words. One look in her eye and you'd see that her jokes aren't all that easygoing... Dazai is shameless, plain and simple. He states his affections proudly and openly but s/o doesn't take him seriously because of how dramatic he is. He might look innocent but out of everyone he is one of the most intense yanderes s/o would have to deal with. Things will heat up even more once the Port Mafia gets involved.

Chuuya's a flirt but he is not like Dazai. He is a lot more ernest and just downright sweet. He makes it clear from the start that if you decide to be his lady, he will treat you like royalty, no questions asked. Elise probably saw you before Mori did and that's how he grew fond of you - Elise wanted you by her side, how could he ever turn down her requests?! He had his own motives though aside from Elise's whining... Kaji is over the moon and is flashy as Hell when it comes to his affections. Akutagawa is downright pissed that you're such a massive distraction for him. Gin loves you but please, don't force her to say it out loud, she might just die from blushing... Yet another thing she has in common with her brother. Higuchi says that she hates you, but that's a lie and everyone knows it. She is needy and it shows...

So just imagine the Hell you'd cause by trying to leave Yokohama. The city might as well be destroyed the moment someone sees you gone! This is one of those times when the two organisations will have to work together, even if they really don't want to. The moment one side gets to you, you can bet they'll stab the other in the back. This would also be the perfect chance for any outsiders to sneak in or make a move... Fyodor's a rat and he knows it. So imagine him getting the info about the ADA and the mafia hunting down this one little girl? How amusing!~ Or perhaps the Guild will snatch you up first who knows... Or, if you're really unlucky, the Hunting Dogs might just be forced to step in and set things back in order.

Remember one thing and one thing only: no matter what you choose, it will be the wrong choice.

(1)The first question that came to mind when reading your hypothesis about Naomi being an illusion was: Why would Junichiro create Naomi? One reason may be to create a source of human connection for himself. Though I would like to think of the Agency as a found family, the truth is, most of the members are emotionally distant toward each other.

(2) The second reason is to project his own wishes of self-betterment onto a separate entity. When Atsushi got kidnapped, Junichiro clearly wanted to push for a rescue mission, but seemed too timid to contradict his senpais who were reluctant to do so (Kunikida and Ranpo—I still haven’t forgiven them for that). Naomi, however, confidently announced bringing in Fukuzawa to prompt the Agency into saving Atsushi.

(3) In other words, Naomi possesses the self-assertion Junichiro wishes he had. Though I hesitate to call Naomi his ideal, since she herself is an imperfect person (I know the series frames her interactions with her brother as comedy, but to me they portray a double standard in sexual harassment).

(4) In addition, Naomi liberates Junichiro from idealistic concepts of morality and justice. Junichiro told Steinbeck he would “gladly burn this world to the ground” for Naomi, and threatened to kill the Black Lizard when they threatened his sister. In this way, he contrasts Kunikida, who according to @linkspooky, values ideals over people.

(5) However, if Naomi isn’t a real person, then what exactly is Junichiro protecting? Is the affection between them an illusion, a fantasy? What’s the difference between an ideal and a fantasy? I’m sorry, this was originally going to be an ask about the Tanizaki siblings’ parallels with Mori and Elise, but it instead turned into a ramble.—BSD Chat Anon

Hello!! I’m glad to see you back, firstly :P And I think that’s fair about the interactions. You’re also welcome to send more asks/rambles anytime! 

Interesting... well, according to that crack theory of mine, he does have a sister--it would just be Haruno. But it’s entirely possible Naomi is really his sister, maybe even likely--I just like the implications otherwise (and the removal of the incest thing lol). But if that were the case it’d be kind of tragic because he’d be focusing on an illusion to cope with the reality, yet the illusion also brings them together (Naomi is a friend to Haruno as well) and helps them both cope. 

Regardless, I think Tanizaki is protecting himself with his illusions in a lot of ways. He’s clinging to a childlike concept of a sibling relationship (regardless of whether it’s real or a replacement) and it could be keeping him from having to speak up or do the hard work that any relationship comes with. It both helps him cope and prohibits him from growing. He’s had enough build up that I just hope his focus is interesting and this would really intrigue me--his ability has so many possibilities!

Dazai Osamu

❥ He would probably choose a time when you two are alone. Maybe when the office is empty, or he just leads you somewhere with his usual façade saying there was something he wanted to show you.

❥ Dazai would confess to you if he has known you for a while, probably when he's known you from a few months to a few years, depending on how well he knows you, and if he trusts you. Another thing that would make him confess is if he's felt like you felt the same way.

❥ When he confesses to you, his façade is dead and gone, showing you a serious side of him. Relationships are full of commitment and trust, and that's what he wants. He doesn't want to joke around when giving how he feels about you.

❥ If you accept his confession, telling him you feel the same way, he feels the weight off of his chest. Pulling you into a hug full of feelings as he kisses the top of your head, telling you he's going to take care of you.

❥ If you don't accept his feelings, he does feel the sharp pain in his heart and chest. He instantly goes back to his façade and laughs it off as a joke, turning the other way from you. He then acts like nothing has happened, but remembers every detail and thinks about it every night.

Atsushi Nakajima

❥ Atsushi would choose a time when you two are alone. It would be on your first date together, either on top of the Ferris wheel at nighttime admiring the beautiful city lights or looking up at fireworks because he loves the way you look at them, like you're the most beautiful and adorable thing in the world.

❥ Atsushi would confess to you when he's felt something unknown, a new feeling. He hasn't been shown much love in his past and wasn't familiar with the feeling, but it felt good to him. He would probably ask Dazai for help, only to be teased whenever you two were together from afar. Though, Dazai would help his dear subordinate, probably being the one to set up the date. He finds himself smiling around you a lot, either consciously or on instinct, and that tells him. You're the one.

❥ When Atsushi confesses to you, he's literally shaking. His whole body, he can't seem to make eye-contact with you and he's nervous. So many questions are going on in his mind and he's freaking out. What if you don't accept? He'll stutter the first few times trying to tell you, only to have you say that you didn't understand a word. He'll then blurt it out loud in front of you, covering his mouth after and hiding his face. He's a blushing mess.

❥ If you accept his feelings, he feels like everything has dropped in him. Taking a few moments to register what you said as he looks up at you wide-eyed. Did you just accept his confession? Did you just tell him you felt the same way? He feels the excitement rising in him as he throws himself at you, giving you the tightest hug. When you tell him you can't breathe, he apologizes and looks down at your hands, asking if he can hold them.

❥ If you don't accept his confession, you could see the sadness in his face. He won't speak at all for a few moments before apologizing to you for all that. When you tell him it's okay, his head is still hung low as he can't find himself to smile to hide his pain. He's given a lot of thought about you and has felt like you were the one.

Kunikida Doppo

❥ He would choose a time when you two are alone. A place in his book that may or may not be in a park in the afternoon when it's just you two. You're standing in front of him next to a beautiful patch of flowers, looking up at him with the sweetest, most dreamy smile he's ever seen.

❥ Kunikida would confess to you when he's sure that you're like the woman in his ideals. His ideal woman. He would confess after checking it at least five times over, maybe six for an extra reassurance. He would confess if he's known you for a long while, getting to know everything about you and how you would respond to him. He's a man who's strict of ideals and wouldn't want someone who makes fun of him for it.

❥ When Kunikida confesses, he's nervous, but doesn't show it because he's good at hiding it. The most you'll see out of him is his pink cheeks and him rubbing the back of his neck whilst unable to make eye-contact. You'll touch his arm and ask what's wrong, seeing you full of concern makes his heart flutter; you're worried about him. He brings up the idea of relationships, going slow with it and asking you questions like, "Are you ready for one?" And so on. If you agree, he would tell you how he feels like you are the right person for him.

❥ If you accept his feelings, he's relieved. He felt a little scared that you might've been weirded out when he told you that you were his ideal woman. He will open his arms for a hug, wanting your consent before initiating anything. So when you're in his arms, he rests his chin on the top of your head, just staying quiet with a serious, but happy smile.

❥ If you don't accept his feelings, he sighs heavily. He turns his head to the ground and shakes it a little, telling you to ignore what he's said. He was sure you were the right one, but maybe he hadn't checked his book enough for confirmation is what he would think. After this, you barely see him anymore, or talk to him; he's heartbroken but, doesn't see it. He doesn't want anything to do with you, all because it's awkward.

Ranpo Edogawa

❥ This detective chooses a time when there are probably a few people around, people he knows. He wouldn't do it out loud, but with a normal, quiet voice. You're in the agency's office, either giving him his daily praise from you, helping him "solve" a case, or feeding him snacks (because he asked you to normally).

❥ Ranpo would confess to you when he feels like you two are pretty close, meaning that you would give him praises on a regular basis, and feed him sweet snacks often, just because. He would also confess to you if you are pretty darn intelligent, willing to challenge him in solving cases that he usually wins because "You're good, but I'm better!"

❥ When Ranpo confesses, he gives you hints surprisingly, despite his lazy manner. You're leaned over his chair as he's sitting there, giving you hints to solve the word puzzle he's given you.  If you need help, he helps you solve it and looks at you, his cheek resting in the palm of his hand as he smiles cheekily at you, "Whadya' say? Will ya?" If you don't need help and had figured it out, it only makes Ranpo fall more in love with you, his eyes flickering with fire.

❥ If you accept his creative way of confessing to you, he stretches back and relaxes, saying that he knew you would feel the same because he's the great detective Ranpo. When you confess back, he feels like the happiest man in the world, receiving many lovely praises from you as you hug him from behind in his chair.

❥ If you don't accept his way of confessing, Ranpo's laid back and prideful expression dies, he was so sure that you would say the same thing as he, yet it was the opposite? He doubts his ability to deduce the situation, though Ranpo has too much pride to be brought down like that. He wouldn't say a thing but, you could tell how he was feeling, as he gets up and leaves, saying he was going to get more snacks.

❥ If Ranpo said his feelings verbally he would say, "How would you feel being with a great detective like me?"

Tanizaki Junichirō

❥ He would choose a time when you two are totally alone. He'd confess to you when you are over at his house because it's a comfortable environment for him. He'd be making you lunch in his kitchen, striking normal conversations between you two as you sit there, smiling at him.

❥ Tanizaki would confess to you if he felt like you were the one for him; meaning, sweet, kind, confident and bold. Of course, Naomi would have to like you too, he's close with his sister, so he would also like her opinion; when she says yes, he's relieved and feels a bit more confidence in himself.

❥ When Tanizaki confesses, it's when your face is stuffed with his cooking as you stare at him. He can't help to think that you're so adorable. He continues with what he's saying, saying it with little stutters but, inside, he's kind of dying because he's nervous as hell.

❥ If you accept his confession, a smile rises as he perks up, shouting "Really?" as you nod. He promises to take good care of you and never let anything bad happen to you, hugging you as you're still chewing. He takes a napkin and wipes your mouth, staring at your lips.

❥ If you don't accept his confession, Tanizaki is ashamed of himself, thinking to himself if it was his personality [I don't think he'll ever blame Naomi.]. He'd show the sad side of him for a brief moment, saying that it was okay with a smile, but you could tell he was hurt as he started speaking a lot less.

Miyazawa Kenji

❥ Kenji would confess to you at a time when it's the two of you. Maybe not just the two of you, but personally to you. You two would be walking down the streets of Yokohoma on the way to eat. Talking to each other.

❥ Kenji is pretty easy-going and gets along with you very well when since friendly with him. He doesn't realize it at first but, he eventually feels the difference between you and others.
