omfg . radio play version of much ado with david as benedick from 2001

#this version of benedick is a lottttt more serious and restrained than the 2011 version #definitely due to the medium and bc it matches the energy of this version of beatrice way better #it's not david and catherine's insane comedic chemistry but it's still really good imo..#like it's obviously not as endlessly fucking funny as the 2011 version but it's still really solid #and i'm impressed with how they did the humor in a 100% audio format #and i actually really love this interpretation of benedick as more cynical and leaning into his Hater side #ironically david's benedick here generally comes off as older and more mature than his benedick 10 years later #'the prince's fool... hAhH???' is obviously extremely funny but also 'the prince's fool... [uppity hmph]' is Inspired #and his outraged 'oh!'s and gasps and sighs when he listens to don pedro/claudio/leonato talking abt beatrice being in love with him #also funnily enough i think benedick's whole monologue after this is SO good. if not better than the 2011 version #cuz it's more restrained you have benedick's haterism actively fighting and losing against his satisfaction and giddy laughter #and the bit where benedick challenges claudio is so ohhhghhgouhgghg #the way his voice deepens with 'and her death shall fall heavy on you' just FLOORS me it's fucking perfect #but also equally as fun are the line readings where they have evidently remained the same (or similar)#my dearrrrr ladyyyy disdaiiiiinnnn #and the 'she misused me past the endurance of a block' rant #and when he's bitching about claudio falling in love w hero #but the vibes are so different this feels like a whole separate guy and that's really cool #i'm not sure how much i would love this production overall if i wasn't as familiar w the play tho #much ado #essentially trying to say in the least embarrassing way possible that david tennant is now both my first and second favorite benedick

im such a loser it hurts. i’ve gained a lot of weight over the last year and it makes me hate my body. my job sucks and pays so little i feel ashamed just thinking about it. my grades are bad and my writing is mediocre and devoid of meaning. why do i even exist

#hate hate hate hate myself #when did it all go wrong #though i guess it was never right in the first place #my whole life ive been pulling through by the skin of my teeth. and of course it doesnt look this way #with the impressive list of high ranking schools i studied in and good grades and aced exams #but it never brought me happiness. it was just something i had to do. was supposed to do because i was good enough #and i never enjoyed studying there. it has been a constant nightmare #and now im working the job which is not bad. but being there makes me feel like im actively dying #and yeah. the salary. it Sucks with a capital s #and all my attempts to find a better paying job so far resulted in nothing #i have a good life. i have a nice apartment with a short commute. a loving partner. enough money to live comfortably #so i feel like i shouldnt complain #but the horrors persist through it all #its just been a constant struggle. and whatever i do it doesnt go away #sorry. im upset and tired and my heas hurts #will probably delete this tomorrow #arnold’s laments

so yesterday was my last day of work, and my coworkers & i were chatting about our first impressions of each other

S: honestly at first i wasn't sure, i thought you might be a bit, idk, cunty? like smug and hard to please? obviously i was wrong, you're spicy sometimes but also one of the nicest people i know. but i remember something about your tone when you came out to everyone just made me think "ugh they're gonna be a lot."

me: well yeah i'm used to having to be pretty defensive about my pronouns, i wasn't expecting y'all to actually Get It.

J: can i chime in with a correction? i remember your first impression of charlie, S, and it wasn't that...

S: okay?? what did i think of them then huh :)

J: well after their second interview, when you asked if we were gonna hire them and we said yes, you said, and i quote, "darn, now i won't have the best butt in the branch anymore!"

S: oooh yeah true, i did say that!!! you do have a pretty great butt, charlie.

#Bug #Insect #I believe she's a female Chinese Mantid (Tenodera Sinensis) - and one of very impressive size!#She's a local! She lives in our front yard! :D #We've actually gotten to see her a few times since this - this was our first meeting!#She'll crawl up onto the mesh of the window frames and like....sunbathe? I'm not actually sure what she's doing there lol #But she is absolutely beautiful <3 And rather friendly!#Just recently I was trying to offer her some food but she seemed more interested in climbing on me haha #I deposited her on our flowers so she wouldn't be quite so high off the ground #I don't usually get intimidated by bugs but there really is something about her intense stare(s)! I worry for my fingers hehe #But no she's been very polite and Very cute #Her little reachy-reaches and jumps and wiggles ah <3 What a delight #She's always welcome around here! I hope she's okay to keep putting up with us haha I hope we're just enrichment #She certainly is for us!#Oh yeah and shoutout to smol for letting me take pictures of her hand when she offered to the star of the show haha #She was very excited ♪ She also loves bugs :)

im rereading 20,000 leagues under the sea for the first time since i was like an actual child and my first impression of captain nemo is that he is so full of shit lol. youve renounced civilisation have you? do u not obey the rules of society? you, alone on your ship, alone in the immense desert of the ocean aside from servants crewmen kitchen staff etc who dont rly count, have perfect independence and liberty here in the depths of the ocean, where systems of power and control cannot reach you? you recognise no masters? why is it then that on receiving three uninvited guests/prisoners, u invite only the one with a high social status to dine with you and have a tour of the most luxurious parts of ur vessel and sleep in an elegantly furnished guest bedroom while the servant and the seaman are sent away with the steward to their shared cabin downstairs below decks. i wonder if your own servants and crew feel similarly free from all hierarchical systems of power and control lmao. i wonder what they get paid with
