Not to be a bitch, but as someone who enjoys classics and whose favorite books are primarily classics, I don't think there's anything wrong with simply not liking a Classic Novel. Obviously, the idiots who act like a classic has no merit or refuse to critically engage with it just because they didn't personally like it should be ignored, but if you simply didn't personally enjoy a classic and can still acknowledge its merit, there's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't make you stupid and forcing yourself to like a book entirely because it was written prior to 1960 is ridiculous. At the end of the day, while (good) books should be trying to impart a message about the world that'll make you think, to a point, books are meant to entertain. Just because Sally thought Pride and Prejudice dragged and didn't like it doesn't mean Sally is stupid
